Speaker 1 (00:00):
Until the state quarterfinal.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
They both will have difficult matchups on the way to
a state quarter final with great matchup tonight. We saw
it a month ago at Rockford, a fabulous game, kind
of back and forth, the game of mommentums, and the
freshman Ni Wolf hit in the game winner as Rockford
prevailed by a deuce.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
And we thought there'd be a little more drama in
the house tonight because of the fact that Hudsonville and
Rockford were pointing to this rematch. But as you know
how tough it can be in the OK Red Division,
you can't look past anyone, and not like Hudsonville was.
But they went to the Haven on Friday night last week,
Grand Haven along the lake shore, and you'll hear from
Mark Kelly had coming up in our Monte Construction Coaches
(00:37):
corner here on the J and H Family storees pregame show.
He said, they just shot the lights out. It felt
like everything was going in. And that's coming from a
guy who he feels this Hudsonville team is his best
outside shooting and three point shooting team he's had in
his sixteen years, so they rely upon that. But he
said grand Haven really shot the ball. Well, and they
knocked off Hudsonville seventy to fifty seven to give them
(01:00):
a little bit more of a cushion going into this
one tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, in his sixteen years as a head coach for
Eric Elliott, I mean, this Eagles program, the staple has
been defense. They've always been outstanding defensively, and you know
they need to guard a little better, you know, and
you have that through long season, the ebbs and flows,
and they need to get back to playing Hudsonville basketball.
They need to guard the three because Rockford can make
threes as well as anyone.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
So they're gonna have their hands full of night. Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Red Division is doing doubleheaders on Tuesday nights and Friday nights,
so we'll pass along.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
The Rockford girls keep it rolling.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Just one loss on the season, unbeaten Okay Red play
as they won just a few minutes ago finishing off Hudsonville.
Great effort by the Eagles again, who are playing their
best basketball on the girls side. They lose by a
dozen though, fifty seven forty five.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, and you know it was ten to seven Hudsonville
early when I walked in the building halfway through the
first quarter, and Josie De Smit, the Hudsonville senior point guard,
had all ten Hudsonville points. They actually had a twelve
to ten lead late in the first quarter, rock for
goes on a run, and midway through the third quarter,
Hudsonville had twenty three points and Josie just had twenty
of them. So it's just tough when you play a
team as good defensively as Rockford is to get other
(02:03):
people scoring. But Hudsonville is a team I think that's
dangerous on the girls side because remember, just like the boys,
Rockford and Michigan go north. Hudsonville be in that region
with Grand Haven and some other Forest Hills Northern, some
other really quality teams. They have the potential to make
a run. Josie needs some help. She had twenty six
tonight in the loss Anai pitch. You know, she had
twenty probably right about her average. She made Josie De
(02:28):
Smit work for all twenty six of those points. I
thought she guarded Well.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
County down to tip off for the boys game second
half of this double header. J and H Family Stores
Pregame Show brought to you by J and H's Family
Stores now with sixty plus locations across Michigan to serve
you J and H's Family Stores, stopping on the way
to your next game or on your way home.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Coming up, we come.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Back from break, We're gonna hear from Hudsonville Boys, said
coach Eric Elliott, the Montel Construction's coach at corner as
you're listening to a Tuesday night edition on the boys
side of the LMCU High School Basketball Game of the
Week live here on ninety six to one, the bandalid
Home Improvement Keys to the contest coming up. Plus you're
supporting you starting lineups between Hudsonville and Rockford and Jay
(03:08):
you have the stat of the night twelve of the
last eighteen when it comes to the boys side decided
by six points or less two point game at Rockford
just a month ago.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Does it surprise you? I mean, Rockford Hutsonville always a classic.
I think we have a chance to have another really
good one tonight, although last year the one here in
February wasn't as close as they're running January.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
And now let's pause for our national anthem and then
we'll get those Vandalion Home Improvement keys. Tonight's contest Eric
Elliott against Kyle Cluff coming up, and jay I ended
(04:38):
with the matchup of the coaches, two of the best
in the business, not only the Okay Red but in
the area in Kyle Cluff for Rockford, Eric Elliott for Hudsonville.
And they know they've got two very good teams going
ahead and head a lot of great athletes. So let's
start from the RAMS perspective with tonight's mandelon ho improvement
keys to the context.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Well, I think Rockford needs to start fast, and maybe
that sounds silly, but Friday night at East kent Would
they were down eleven early, They were down eleven a
lot in that game. They got hot in the third quarter.
Dylan Girls kind of put him on his back shooting
the three, and they found a way to win in
the fourth quarter. But remember East Kentwood's a talented team.
They're very young, still learning how to win. This Hudsonville
team is veteran, they know how to win. Radford does
(05:18):
not want to get behind by double digits tonight on
the road against Hudsonville.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Number two.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Welcome back Jake Right their number, their leading scorer, their
only guy averaging double figures. In over fourteen a game,
bask them back for the first time in eight days.
He left the Whitehall game last Monday with a hamstring issue.
Talked to Kyle Kloff before the game. He said he's
ninety percent he's starting. They'll need a nice effort from
their leading score. All right, there's the.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Vandalt Hopemprovement keys to the contest. With eighty years in
the business, vandal at Hope Improvement offers top notch contract
or services to customers in West Michigan called six one,
six sixty six, nine eleven eleven. More details or visit
Vandalions double A on lones dot com and now the
Eagle side of things.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Yeah, I think they need to spread the wealth. Right.
They have four players averaging double figures, John Daniels, Justin Fisher,
Joey Miller, Isaiah Hamlet. They're gonna need those four guys
to all be in double figures tonight against this really
good rock For team and number two value the basketball, right.
Rockford wants to get after you defensive today, want to
pressure you all over the place.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Can't turn it over. Possessions are gonna be huge.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
If this game is as close as we think it's
gonna be as close as it was in January. Every
possessions of must you get a value it if your
Hutsonville not turn it over all right?
Speaker 3 (06:24):
So for the Rockford Rams, they're visiting a black uniforms
with the orange numbers and orange trams for Kylekluff in
his ninth season, going for an ok RED title here
with a win tonight.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Isaac Poot a senior starter number two.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Then Michael to Kiper headed a Calvin At University next
year to play for the Knights. Dylan Gross there outsidehootor
Martsman and he'll run some point as well as a junior.
Lucas pitched the big Fellow six to seven, a senior
in the post along with Jake Baskob. The junior as
you mentioned, goes six to six, and happy to have
him back after that hamstring injury has kept him out
for two plus games. Nice swing on the pick and
(06:58):
roll to Kuiper trying to knock it down with pitch
unable to in and out rebound Hudsonville and on the
attack for the Eagles, Javon Daniels is their point guard.
He hasn't as he crosses the timeline only a junior,
but been up on varsity for Eric Kelly since he
was a freshman, Griffin Baker. They really feel he's getting
into his own as far as his basketball legs. The
senior in the back court, Joey Miller, another one those
double digit scores. He's been up on the varsity since
(07:20):
he was a sophomore. Justin Fisher has been the big surprise.
According to Eric Kelly, you heard that in our Montel
construction coach this corner a senior and then Isaiah Hamlet,
the transfer, big fellow. He's six ' eight and a
senior in the post man the man, pressure defense by
Rockford on the back side, nice bounce pass on the
baseline and Hamlet up for two Eagles strike first.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well, big surprise right Justin Fisher not just to score
excellent drive Drew the defense kicked the Hamlet and by
the way, I'm a big uniform guy, Bratt Rockford. Where
the oranges that ken with last Friday? I much prefer
the Blacks.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
The Kuiper's triple from the right corner, no good tapped
out here comes Daniels and working against Gross takes me.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
To the right side.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
They're gonna have a bump on gross on the attack
move by the junior.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, when you got your opportunities, push it. I like that.
They're not gonna always look to run. But a great
job by Daniels. You know that's what he can do.
He's a really good three point shooter, but his ability
to get to the bucket and transition as well.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Now get to the free throw line where he's really
good sixteen points per game. Physically has grown gotten stronger,
eat it out on the first free throw, a tip,
three and a half assist per contest as well, So
kind of rounding into a complete point goud his third
year now on farsity and the Sporting US starting lineups
brought to you my friends at Sporting You second on
the way for Daniels. Good three nothing Hutsonville. Good start
(08:33):
here at home. And they were worried because not as
big as senior student section because they're on winter break right.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Now for the Eagles. Who is gonna show up for
Rockford Hutsville. Decent student section showing up for the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
I'd be here too.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
This is a big time matchup to Kipeer on a
pick and roll with bask him getting the start tonight
and welcome the big fellow back. And he's a high flyer,
one of the better juniors in the state. Try to
tupe it down to him, but nice double team knocked away.
Good defense by the Eagles. Yeah, we're gonna watch basket
them early. They were trying to get it to him there,
but an excellent job by Joey Miller, Fisher tap three
and quick time out by Kyle Kluff. That's what the
(09:06):
South fall can do. High five Mad coach Eric Ellien
if he told me he could just flat out shoot
the basketball. When you look at the percentages for Fisher,
this is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Jay fifty eight percent from the three.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
And when Eric Elliott, who was pretty good shooting the
long ball, says he just doesn't miss, it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
He's off to a great start.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
That's the thing that jumped off the page of me
when I was looking at the stats at this game,
justin Fisher isn't getting enough shots. When you're shooting that
high of a percentage, you're just not getting enough shots.
You shouldn't be shooting that high. You need to shoot more.
He's gotten a couple of looks early, and that's what
you want to do. If your Hudsonville, the guy could
fill it up like justin Fisher's filling it up this year.
Get him the ball, get him.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Shots six nothing Hudson will after that triple knockdown moments
ago by Fisher. Six sixteen left to go in this
opening quarter. Sporting, you we mentioned bringing your starting laps tonight.
You think it, Dy'll link it and they have what
you need to look your best. Check out their gear
in inventory online. Is Sporting the LETTERU dot com or
on eighty fourth Street just east of US one thirty
one actually now moved to their Wayland location as Gross
(10:05):
now double team knocked away from behind by Baker four
on three. Hutsville's got numbers. Daniels down the left side
with the bounce, kicks it back out top. That's Fisher,
just hit that last three cut off by Gross Still
Manda Man pressure defense both sides crossover. Daniels kicks it
the Fisher in the corner. Good close out by the kuiper.
Baker now top of the creed between the circles, kicks
it right side right in front the rock for bench.
Daniels nice pick and roll down, low up and Oh
(10:28):
rolls off.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
The front of the rim, but he'll get two free throws.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Nice job joining the contact, Joey Miller that time, talented senior.
And I said to coach, I said, I've seen some
great wars over the years with these two schools as
far as the football programs, it was gonna be a
physical one tonight with these big bodies.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
We're already seeing that.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, and you love Joey Miller too. I love to
look at the matchups right. Both these teams love to
play Manda Man. They'll mix it up if they need to,
but they their priority is man deed Man. So Joey
Miller is drawing the assignment of Jake Bascomb. You know,
he's given up a couple of inches there. But Miller's
so athletic and he showed it there. Eve he couldn't
finish getting into the free throw line.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
You know, Eric Elliott team's gonna shoot well from the
free throw line. How about seventy two percent as a
team coming in? Is Miller gets them both?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, excellent shooting team, this Hudsonville team, and it's got him
out to this quick start. We talked about a Rockford
needed to start fast. They have not done so.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Gross down Low tries a tough bounce pass in traffic.
Miller thought he knocked it off the basket, him pleading
his case, but not gonna win it. It'll stay with
rock running their own basket. In the first substitute either
way coming off the bench for Rockford, that'll be Eli Wolf,
the talented freshman. And yes, that name sounds familiar from
Cedar Springs fans. His dad, of course, stand out player
at Lake Superior State. His sister now back playing with
(11:39):
the girls varsity team. Step in front, I stopped Daniels
trying to deny. Wolf back to the way with the
left hand, puts it up and in ten nothing.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Hudsonville, just with the doctor ordered the Eagles come limping
in two straight losses to Byron Center and Grand Haven,
to come out and start like this in front of
the home crowd.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Up ten to nothing early, This is what Hudsonville needed.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Wolf kicks a left side pitch dribble Penn tray shit
and they're gonna call reach in foul. Matching up with
Ham like good matchup there six to seven versus six
to eight.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
You know this is a lot like last Friday. I
watched last night. I watched these Kentwood rock Ford game
from Friday, and Rockford up to the slow start, and
they brought Eli Wolf the freshman and off the bench,
kind of gave him a spark, and I think that's
what Kyle Cluff's looking for here bringing Wolf in. We
also see Josh basketman. Of course, Josh has been starting
the last two games with his brother out. He's a
guy that can provide some Miinston offense as well. Rockford
still to have a point where three minutes.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
In Josh Baskom, younger brother of Jake freshman, as you mentioned,
one of two Eli Wolf, the other one has the
basketball left wing right in front of Hutsonville bench. Now
back in front, that's Josh Baskom, freshman and freshman out
of the senior to Kuiper Trills mind is back. Good
close out defensively that time by Fisher on him and
what are we gonna have an offensive follow that time
trying to spin free.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
With Lucas pitch. Good job by Joey Miller to draw
the charge.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Also win for Kyle Kluff and the rams ty blistone
the senior who they really like coming off their bench.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Yeah, Joey Miller got to call him that one. You know,
he's he's a smart play a senior. He's been through
some wars. That was a tough call for the official.
He gelt win Hudsonville's way. Everything going the way of
Bluw and the gold so far tonight.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Joey Miller's strong move with a bounce down the lane,
can't finish right at the rim good challenged by Rockford
and now to Kuiper.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
In transition, Mikey brings into the front court.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Ten nothing Hudsonville as we approached the fourth thirty mark
left to go, but he caught a little pick and
roll that time with Josh Bascom to pitch nothing doing
good close out.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Defensively by Hudsonville. Rockford just seems out of sorts. Hudsonville's
playing hard, they're playing really good man and man defense,
and Rockford just hadn't been real real crisp so far.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
To Kuiper's strong move with a right hand float or no,
but they're on the offensive. Put back the freshman Josh
Bascom and he's got a little link to him as
a freshman.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Goes about six to two.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, all of six too he plays about six five
and just the freshman maybe not done growing yet.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Of course his brother's sixty six.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
And that was a big time offensive put back in
now a Hudsonville turnop.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Yeah, Justin Fisher tried to drive against the freshman a time,
stepped on the sideline when he stepped back to baseline
with the bounce, So.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Turn over to Rockford unforced that time just underway.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
This opening quarter being brought to you by Straight Line
Fence Fencing Company, Grand Rapids with a personal touch offfering
both residential and commercial fencing projects. Call today for your
free estimate at six one, six, four four three twenty
five fifty or visit Straight Line Fences dot com. Now
loosen the handle in traffic. That time was pitched to
Kuiper digs it out, Eli Wolf knocks it down, silky smooths.
(14:26):
A freshman can't let him set his feet and another
true Knights will produty with a left hand.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Well, just like that, a quick five right, you're down
ten nothing. You get to put back from Josh Bascom,
you get to turnover, and then you get the euy
Wolf three and you're right back in. And Joe von
Daniels the other way is up and down.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
We go great pace to this one.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Answers with the three of his own right in front
of the Rockford bench three twenty seven and ticking left
to go thirteen to five Hudsonville. He goes off to
a strong start. Let's see if Rockford answer to Kuiper
gets in the paint. Nice crossover, kicks out left side
triple try no good by Bleinstone, battle for the rebound
and they're gonna to say last touch by Rockford. Hamlet
(15:03):
down on the floor trying to dig it out for
the Eagles, and now he'll get a breathe.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I really like Justin Fisher on the defensive end. Right
We've been talking about his offensive game. I mean he's
guarded Mike Dye Kaiper right now, who's got the ball
a lot. Fisher's a good three inches taller, but he's
keeping to Kuiper in front of him. I think Justin
Fisher's doing an excellent job guarded.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Right now, joe vond Daniel's coming off a high screen
from Fisher gets it the Fisher up and under strong
move Joey Fisher that time just taking it to the
freshman in Josh Basketballyeah. Joey Miller headed to the Whack
to play for Madonna next year. Really like Joey Miller
and what his potential could be with the Crusaders. A
little frustration there, Josh back the other way, just kind
(15:41):
of ran over the defender who had good position offensive file.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
So he's gonna come out.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Senior Isaac Poote will come back along with the junior
starter Dylan Gross and you mentioned Rockford just kind of
out of sorts, but into the ball game he say,
get a little taller and a little more physical. Is
a guy I know you love from the grid iron
Jaalen Ostie his first appearance for the Eagles too.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah, I really like hosting. Excellent height, good athlete. You
know a lot of these Hudsonville guys. We you know
Fordfield last year on the football or last fall on
the football team. So as you mentioned with Griffin Baker,
just kind of getting their basketball legs here as they
get ready to head towards the tournament. The two fouls
on Josh Baskin, by the way, we'll have to watch that.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Under three minutes left to go, opening quarter, fifteen to five.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Hosting at the free throw line, and now bump gonna
be called out against Baskom if it is, that's two
quick ones on him with the offensive found on the
other end working against Justin Fisher left to go. You're right,
Basktob went out, So what is gonna be against Tye
blistone the senior?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
You know who else is in for Hudsonville's Alex Armstrong,
another sophomore.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
I really like him.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
He's six five six six excellent link for Hudsonville coming
off the bench. He's had some big games for Ariic
Elliott this year. These teams are ridiculous with their depth
and their size and athleticism. As Fisher at the free
throw line, boy silky smooth is a lefty. I love
his stroke really has come on his senior year off
to a great start. He's got four jo Von Daniels
leading scorer on the floor with six for the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Two thirty six left to opening courterre glad to have
you long for this Tuesday Night Boys edition OK Red
rematch between Rockford and Hudsonville. Rams won the first one
at home back in January by two. Fisher too strong,
I jinxed him on the second one. Off the back
heel rebound Eli Wolf pink shoes and all brings it
into the front court working against Fisher. Now hands off
to Gross Gross another one deadly from behind the arc.
(17:29):
Kid can just flat out shoot at Eli Wolf. Now
penetration out of control. Oh got the bucket to go on.
They gonna wave it off. They're gonna say offensive foul.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Rockford's gonna have to make an adjustment here because the
officials have made it clear they're gonna call the charge
on these block charge calls, right, and so Rocky, you
want to be aggressive and go to the basket, but
they're calling everything offensive file. So Rockford's gonna have to
jump stop and take the shot instead of getting all
the way.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
To the rim.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Eric Eellitt and his staff have to love us.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
I think that's the third charge that Hudsonville has drawn
in this first quarter sixteen to they wave off the bucket.
Jovon Daniels hedged out top with Baskom, kicks it left
side to Alex Armstrong. You mentioned this sophomore now trying
to hand it back off to Daniels. Good pressure defense.
Bask Him got a hand in there, knocks it off
with Daniels will go back to the way Rams forced
(18:15):
to turn over two h three left to go, and
you're gonna see it like hockey lines because of how
deep these teams are to Kuiper.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
After a short breather.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Back in tyd blistone will check out for Kyle Cluff
Collen's ninth season. Eric Kellett, when he told me his
sixteenth season just blew me away. Any believe that we
call him mister District He's also mister all Okay red
title along with Kyle Cluff. As you mentioned, eight district titles, Eric,
including six in a row from eleven to sixteen.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
He was on quite a run there.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I wonder if it's gonna throw him off beat in
February with the district.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
It's got it right, It's not march.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Bask him down low on the left block, trying to
back his way in pretty good defense. I know he
got him on the arm. Good call by the official,
Jalen Ostein. I think it would have been all right
if you just held his position. He had bask him
kind of off bounce a little bit, but good job
by Jake being aggressive here because Rockford needs to get
some easy baskets, whether it's at the free throw line
or down low.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
With their size, and with Jake coming back after being
out for about a week, you know you want to
get him involved. And that's kind of the first time
they've really gone to him. They tried to go to
him one other time in the post, but Hudsonville was
able to steal the entry pass. So see if this
free throw trip can get Jake basket them going a
little bit for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
How about his numbers?
Speaker 3 (19:21):
He keeps getting better right as a junior now fourteen
point two points per game, coming in six point eight rebounds, almost.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Two steals a game. Well, he's the tallest Rockford player.
He plays the five, but he can shoot the three.
I mean, he's not just a post guy. And that's
what we see in basketball today. You gotta be able
to play everywhere, all three levels if you want to
be effective.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Got the second sweet stroke for the big man goes
about sixty six to sixty seven. And I tell you what,
very athletic, and he's a leaper. He can play above
the rim all night long. That free throw makes it
a ten point game, sixteen to six. Joe Bond Daniels
between the legs so quick working against Dick Kuiper, and
he's gonna get on the floor before the shot.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
A little bump on a block by to Kuiper. The
senior Hutsaville up ten. Here we're approaching the end of
the first quarter. We talked about the four double digit
average scores. Hudsonville has only one of them currently on
the court, and Joe von Daniels as Joey Miller, gets
up and checks in.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
You know, one of the things that Eric Elliott talked
about in our Montel Construction Coaches corner of the pregame is,
you know, the growth not only height wise, but muscle
wise and growing into his body.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
With Joe von Danielson, you saw it right there.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
I don't think he would have been able to make
that move against the Kuiper, who's put together a pretty
physical himself with as strong as he did off the
bounce a year ago.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
And that's just to development. He's only a junior.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Yeah, he just he's one of those guys that's been
around right since he was a freshman, So you forget
that he's still got a year and a half high
school left.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Especially with the way he plays on the court too.
He just plays so far beyond his years. Knocks down
both free throws. He's got eight to lead all scores
to Kuiper dribbling right side down the lane, a back
door cut to Wolf. But we're gonna have a whistle
at a foul on Joey Miller against to Kuiper defensively
before the pass.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
You don't see this much anymore. Hutsonville's already in the bonus,
Rockford approaching it. Very rarely do you see teams getting
the bonus now with the new five files and then
wipe them out at the end of each quarter, which,
by the way, I think you and I both agree
we love that rule. With the flow going, I would
like a shot clock to come with it. I think
it makes it more difficult to try to come from
behind a win without a shot clock and having to
(21:23):
commit a lot of files.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Another whistle against Hutsonville, Joe von Daniels, and to your point,
files are starting to rack up on both sides. Did
Kuiper strong dribble his right hand? He's a lefty down
the lane and he gets bumped. We've had like three
files and what twenty seconds of playtime.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
And that's the bonus. So the Kuiper's going to shoot too.
So I don't think i've seen this in the two
years we've had this rule, both teams in the bonus.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
In the first quarter, maybe in the fourth quarter. Not
the first look at Eric Kelly, I pleaded this case.
He's like, hey're you gonna let the play a little bit.
You got some big bodies out there. I thought that
was a good call.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yeah, I agree with you. I'm just saying it's tough.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
I mean, there's there's a lot of big bodies in
athletes with speed as Bascomb Jake gonna check out, Isaac.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Poot Will check back in, Gonna buy him a little breather.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
With fifty six point eight seconds left to go before
the end of the first quarter, eighteen to six to Kuiper,
second one up coming, It's good, knocks it down, gets
one of two, eleven point lead in favor of Hudsonville.
Jo Von Daniels with eight brings it across the timeline
with a bounce, working against the Kuiper double high screen.
(22:26):
Jovan gets down the left sidelane kicks it back out
to Joey Miller. Ball reversal Wright side triple is up
in good Carson dyacking it down, Carson Dikstra.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
That's another one of those football guys just committed to
Davenport last week. Excellent receiver on the football team, a
guy providing a spark for Hudsonville.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
And now they call Eli Wolf over and back stepped
on the half court line. So another possession stolen here
by Hudsonville. Up twenty one to seven of this opening quarter,
thirty four point one seconds left to go, and they'll
come back with the big fella, Isaiah Hamlet.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
The transfer came in. Yeah, that Mu's been really good
for Hudsonville. Another tall player like Jake Baskin, who's not
a post player, can play kind of anywhere you want him.
Although Jake Baskom not in the game right now, so
they are not matched up on each other. Hudsonville gonna
play for one.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Joe von Daniels now dribbling out offset left with the
Kaiper on him. Let's see when they decided to go
down to thirteen, down to twelve, rik elis saying, let's wait,
you don't want to give up anything here?
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Down to eight? Double high screen just gonna pop from three? Oh,
he banks it in for three.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Rockford's got a hurry too one lets it fly no
off the backboard, and what a finish for Hudsonville won
an opening quarter, they lead it after one twenty four
to seven over Rockford. We'll come back with second quarter
action from the Hudsonville Fieldhouse after this on ninety six
to one.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
The game running is more fun with family and friends.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
I'm Joe Aaron.
Speaker 9 (24:50):
Let's take a look at the Rapid Radio scoreboard Top
twenty action in college football. Michigan and Purdue in ann Arbor,
back and forth they go. Just at the that's way
point of the first half, twenty two to twenty.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Perdue leads.
Speaker 9 (25:03):
Let's head back toughts Ofville High School with Brett Pakeita
and Jason Hutton.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
All right, thank you, Joe. You can listen to that
one over on Wood Radio. Check back with us here
on ninety six to one. The game rocker starting the
second quarter with his stop basket with his steel and
then driving down the other way. Isaac boots down the
right side of the lane and got some contact. Was
short on the layup attempt.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
A lot of football players on the Florida night. Yeah,
you know, we talked about Griffin Baker and Carson Dykstra
for Hudsonville. Isaac Poot another one head of the Grand
Valley to play outstanding safety and return man, a little
bit of running back for the Rams and the grid Iron.
He does a lot for this rock for basketball team.
He doesn't score much, but he does basically everything else so.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Fast and while they said that was on the ground before,
so inbounds Rockford or he throwing basket swing over to
Dylan Gross who hits the triple from the left corner.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Dylan Gross can flat fill it up. I mean he
brought him back in that third quarter against East kent
Wood on Saturday, or excuse me on Friday and down
seventeen here he says, we got to get something going.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
So he does Lucas pitch from the other side on
the baseline, beautiful pass from the right quarter to the
left and then hitting the three.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Was Gross.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Daniel's trying to answer pull up jumper from fifteen on
the right baseline. No rebound though up hig was Alex
Armstrong tossed it back out they'll reset. Armstrong has the
top of the key behind the back, trying to free
himself against pitch left side.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Dykstra halfway down pops out rebound.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Lucas pitch push up ahead to the Kuiper up the
right side, cross the town in the middle. Thought he
got bumped by Daniels. No call, but he puts it
up and in with the left hand. Strong moved that
time by Mikey to Kuiper.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Excellent job by to Kuiper and another quick five Rockford.
Good start to the second quarter. They crawled back to
within twelve again down double digits. You can't win on Friday,
never down as many as seventeen. I wouldn't imagine all
year they've been down this much.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
And remember after giving up that three that banked in
by this guy, Joe von Daniels, Hudsonville got it back.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Start the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Now block from behind pitch against Hamlet right to Daniels. No,
when he puts it back up and in, it's a
tomp break for Rockford because they got the block from
Lucas Pitch.
Speaker 10 (26:58):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Everything going right for Hudsonville. The bank at the end
of the first quarter, and then that one. It looked
like Himba was gonna have an easy one and Pitch
made a really nice defensive play, but the ball goes
right to Daniels who gets an easy one.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Boot around Fisher but then cut off. Good help signed
by the Eagles. Dylan Gross coming off the high screen
runner down the left side of the lane. Yes, San
Juan boy, he went to his right hand, normally the
lefty Dylan Gross. Good body control that time and he'll
head to the charity stripe for the old fashioned three
point play.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Well, Dylan Gross can use both hands.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
You know. He put it on the deck to his
left and then drew the foul.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
I got it up with this right.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Dylan Gross is not tall at a five ten, five eleven,
but plays so much bigger. Really really like Gross's game.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Armstrong gonna check out Griffin Baker, the starter senior back
in Dylan Gross with five comes in averaging over eight
points per contest, and free throw is good. I want
to correct myself, I said lefty. He is right handed,
so he shoots the free throws there.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
He had fourteen in that East Canda game last Friday,
all of them coming in the second half. He's getting
going to the scoring column early tonight and Rockford needs.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
It getting him confused with his teammates.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
To Kuiper left handed, Wolf left handed and now the
runner by Daniels.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Wow, and he took a bump from Isaac boop.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
A good body control, gets the kiss off the window,
back to the way. He grows deep. Three too strong
off the back iron. Battle for the rebound of good one.
Fisher has it and now is tied up by Baskom
hang on and Possessionio going to stay with Rockford.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Two are right. Eric Elliott is standing beside himself. He
thought the ball hit the score the shot clock, it
should have been out of bounds, but he didn't get
the call. And he is not happy with the officials
on that one.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
No, he is, He's looking at all three officials. Eagle's
up thirteen twenty eight to fifteen here at home with
five thirty seven left the goal. They tried to lob
to bask them that was behind him, stolen by Griffin.
Baker hands off to Daniels. He brings it across the
Eagle at the timeline. Nice job to Hamlin splits to defenders.
How about the big fellow with a bounce and land
and another rock for time out? Is the lead is
(29:01):
back to fifteen. It's a thirty second time out, Jay,
so we'll keep it right here.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Yeah, Hudsonville again picking their spots to run. Excellent job
by Daniels getting it to Hamlet. Hamlet won dribble right
to the rim. That's impressive, you know, Joebi Daniels Averge
just sixteen a game, He's already got fifteen. He's kind
of doing a little bit of everything, dishing it out.
This is what we talked about, share the well, this
is what Hudsonville's doing. Yes, Daniels says fifteen. But I
(29:26):
love the way they're playing a team game. On the
defensive end. They're sharing the basketball, they're taking good shots.
I mean, this is how you draw it up if
you're Eric Elliott. Well and you know what you said.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Something was key.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Not only did they lose to Grand Haven on Friday night,
but that lost to Byron Center last week, and so
this team came in with a little bit of a
chip on their shoulder. They had to shoot around this
afternoon because normally that wouldn't happen with school going on.
But they're at winter break and so they know what
it means with the showdown with Rockford and Hudsonville.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Ready here tonight to this opening quarter up fifteen.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Well, listen, Rockford's playing for their Okay Red title here tonight,
right or Rockford winning it's over, they'd be back to back. Okay,
Red Champs four in the last five years. Lots of
Ville needs to win tonight and then still get some
help after this. But they're playing like they're like it matters.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Bascom's strong move dumps it off, Yes, and Juan Strong
was Mikey to Kuiper on the left hand with a
block as it was Jake Bascom, the big fella. How
about that penetrated and dumping into the guard of the
low block and Mikey to Kuiper with that football body
just muscled his way up and and one is he'll
go to the charity stripe. Good free throw shooter, Gonna
(30:30):
play in Calviny University next year.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Brett, I love this lineup.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
How about of their playing group, it's the three smallest guys,
the three point guards, Eli Wolf, Dylan Gross and Mikey Kuiper.
And then they are two tallest players in Joey Pitch
and Jake Bascom. I like this lineup a lot.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
So the Kuiper deposits the free throw pitch, his brother's
Shoey converts the three point play and he will come
out now at the five twelve marking for him. Josh
Baskom the freshman, so both Basko brothers are in there
working on the low block. Joe Moon Daniels brings up court,
hands off the Dyke House gets it back in the corner,
little give it go. That one short high bounced and
that one goes over the top. And Eric Kelly was
(31:08):
sure to point out that, oh yeah, that one, and
that we missed one down here for Rockford.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
I was watching him. He actually didn't say that that
one was obvious.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
As the Rams get it back, we roll under the
five minute mark left to go first half. Don't forget
to stay with us at halftime. Joe Errett will have
scores and more the rapid radio scoreboard. Jake Bascom's strong
move with a bounce down the lane, beats Hamlet with
a half step and puts it up an end.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
And that's Bascom's game right there, right at six six.
He can put it on the floor and score. And
that's what Rockford needs. Big bucket for Bascom.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Boy, this has been a game of runs. Let's see
if Hudsonville has an answer. Now back to a ten
point game. Daniel's down low bump by pitch No call
Pitch then gets the rebound after the miss shot, but
can't control it knocked out of bounds. It'll be Eagles
basketball is now Hamlet will get a breather.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Yea, Lucas pitch is just he's playing well on the
defensive end. Right, he's using his size at six ' five.
He's walling up. He's playing really hard on that the
doing a nice job.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Oh now they throw it into Hoast and he can't
handle it, just checking in for Hamlet, so unforced turnover.
Rockford gets it back, Rams down ten thirty to twenty
with under four thirty and Tickie left to go here
before halftime. You mentioned stay with us for the Holt
Jeffson physical Therapy halftime show coming up. Scores some more
with Joe Busy Knight in the big ten. Oh, Gross
might have got away with a shuffle out top crowd
(32:24):
thought so hands off and down the lane basking brothers
trying to hook up Josh to Jake knocked away. It'll
stay with Rockford to our right, type blistone. The super
sub Senior comes in. Gross will check out Eli Wolf
to trigger the imbounds for Kyle Kloff and the Rams and.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Josh Bascom playing with the two fouls.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Let's watch that as he goes in the post good
matchup here wolf with Daniel spins on him. Baseline Eli,
only a freshman so talented, now gets the handoff back
right wing from Baskom, comes off a high scream, gets
in the paint. Extra pass over in the corner, blistone
back to Josh Bascom.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Now our top pitch. Pitch drives down the lane.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Good passing squad and they all can handle the ball
with their size for Rockford, and now reach in foul
as Josh Baskom trying to split two defenders to get
to the rack. I think they're gonna say it was
on the ground though, so it'll be another imbounds for
the Rams.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
And Rockford has done a nice job adjusting to the
officiating after those three charges in the first quarter, Now
four team fouls on Hudsonville.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
So the next one will put the Rams in the bonus.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Rockford has not committed a team foul here in this
second quarter, and they started to go to the basket
a little more under control.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
If you think this rematch is good, how about next
Tuesday night. I will be on vacation down to the
Sunshine State, but handing it off to Jay and Buck
Gino strong moved by Baskom across the lane with a spin,
couldn't get it to go. Good defense that time as
Baker was in there along with defensively Jalen Osten. And
now we're gonna have a bump. Yeah, I think the
(33:54):
Eli Wolf the freshman.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Yeah, Wolf, you get crossed over a little bit there
by Daniels and got him with the body.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
But yeae, I know you guys are excited. Jay and
Buck love the call.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Six forty five approximate pregame might be more like seven
o'clock for the JDH Family Stores pregame show next Tuesday night.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Here on ninety six to won the game.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
How about the OK White rematching showdown was a good one,
just like this was the first time between Northview and
South Christian.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Yeah, we're excited.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Top two teams in the OK goal, two teams that
are ready to make a run in February's last March
should be a lot of fun at Sailors Gymnasium.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Fisher drible penetration in the lane, nowhere to go cut
off nicely. Good defense that time by the freshman Josh
basket now dribbles around him in the left hand, that's
his strong hand. Can't finish at the rim, and he
was out of bounds when he touched it trying to
get that rebound it. We'll go back to Rockford three
fourteen left to go. Kind of stuck on thirty twenty
here in favor.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Of the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Both these teams currently slated to be one seeds in
their district. Both have tough slates. Hutson will be over
at Granville Rockford to be at Reese Buffer. I'm looking,
I'm ready for it. Bro.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Let's go to February.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
February fun swinging around perimeter, Blystone over to Josh Baskin,
good ball moving Now, they got Jake working the post,
Oasting on him on the left block, kicks opposite extra
pass in the corner Blystone for three. Yes, how about
the unselfish playing a good set up by the freshman
Josh basketball and Kyle Cluff just raves about TDD blistone
and the work he's put in to become a key
member of this bench and really helped the Rams this season.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
That was a big bucket.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Oh, nice pass by Daniels to Oasting Eric Ellen said,
how is there not a foules?
Speaker 1 (35:24):
He hit the deck, ball just pomped loose.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
We play on Basketom down low, pump fake, lost the handle,
going up, a lot of hands in there. Daniels three
on two back the other way, bounce past head to
Oasting three to sixty, spin across the lane, can't finish
on the.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Other side, and ball was short tapped out by Armstrong.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
It's gonna be Rockford basketball.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Well, a nice job by Alex Armstrong on the defensive
end knocking it away from Baskum, and a good spin
move by Osting.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
He just couldn't finish there.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Rockford Dodgers a bullet and hey, don't look now they've
scored eight in a row. They have the ball a
chance to crawl even closer here before the half. This
is what you had to do if youre the Rams,
because this was getting away from you.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
At thirty to.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Fifteen gross back in Basketom will check out, just over
to and changed left to go. Look at the crossover
by Eli Wolf working against the senior Baker, hands off
to Basktom. They clear out the right side for him,
basket them in the paint, and now he got grabbed
who careful Oasting and bask him and what are we
gonna have here? Oasting kind of grabbed him, but then
Bascom kind of leaned in to continue and hit him
(36:21):
with the chin.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah, I was definitely following osing, but then Baskom just
kept playing after the whistling Osting wasn't and made some
more contact.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
I remember bonus situation here. I think they're gonna say
before the shot doesn't matter. Jake Bascom's two shots either
way of fishers are gonn huddle here.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
You know, lots of those forcing Eli Wolf right, and
I think that's the play because wolf being left handed,
he's still really good going.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Right, but you'd rather have him going right than going left.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
And it worked that time, but Basketoba was able to
draw the file after he got the post feed.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
So the officials huddle up. Two shots gonna be the
situation here for Jake bass him get the five fouls
and getting used to the two free throws. Different as
far as high school basketball. For Fctor into the bonus
in both quarters in this first half. Though, that's big,
especially when you're behind and trying to catch up.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Only three points on the night for their Ladings score.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
He'll try to add to that total here and cut
into the seven pointed banch for the Eagles mentioned stay
with us whole steps and physical Therapy halftime show coming up.
Tonight's players have worked hard to get their bodies ready
for competition, and Hulst jeps In physical therapy wants you
to stand the game no matter what level of activity desire.
They get patients within twenty four to forty eight hours.
Holst Jepson physical therapy restoring body, reviving spirit. And then
(37:40):
they took care of my wife and I with the
Byron sent a location. Nice John by Jake look good
on both those knocks him down. Now he'll get a
short breather. It's a five point game, Jay, Here come
the Rams thirty twenty five. They'll pick up full court
man to man ten straight for the Orange and Black.
How about two fouls now on osting who stays on
the floor. Josh Bascom's been playing with two files for Rockford,
although he's out at the moment. Joven Daniels two man
(38:02):
game pull up jumpers short could help I pitch that
time on the switch with the Kaiper. Here comes Isaac
Putta just checked back in in the bank kicks out
left corner extra past to Gross left wing for three.
No up high with Fisher. Wow, and he was hit
over the head by Lucas pitch going for that offensive rebound.
So we'll go to the other end here.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Yeah, that was a big shot from Gross. I thought
he was gonna hit it and pull him within two.
That would have almost for sure forced the timeout for
America Alley, but it doesn't go. Also'll close out. Eagles
haven't had a point in a while, Brad. They need
to get something going here before the end of the quarter.
I'd look for him to run something with Hamlet excuse me,
Osting and Daniels some.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Kind of ball screen here.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Thirty twenty five Eagles. They've led the entire way in
this first half. Rams try to cut into a here,
Fish a strong move over the left side. Pitch tried
to draw the charge and Fisher with a nice left
hand and finished has two more justin.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Fisher just so good with that first step and an
excellent leaper already six four six ' five.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Really tough to defend.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
There at the rim to Kaiper trying to finish in traffic,
No tipping it right to a Rams defender though, and
Poop puts it up and it was Oasting, kind of battling.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
His own teammate there.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Excellent job by Poot. He does the dirty work, that's
what he does. He gets those offensive rebounds and other
opportunities in that time. He took advantage with the deuce.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Daniels now hand off to Oasting, tough bounce pass across
the lane, almost stolen, but Baker runs it down left wing.
They reset with Daniels back out between the circles. Under
a minute to play. First half, thirty two to twenty seven.
Fish with that last bucket, by the way, has six. Secondly,
he scored this week at the Fish and right side
knocks down another triple.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
He's a good four feet behind the arc, right in
front of the Rams bench. Yeah, justin Fisher. Can we
talked about it getting more shots one way or the other,
even if it's just late clock step back and take it.
He can make them. And Hudsonville extends it back to
an eight point league nine for Fisher. It feels like
he's got fifteen.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Yeah, Daniels in Fisher combining for twenty four of Hutsonville's
thirty five.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Here in the first half.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
It feels like Fisher's got way more than nine.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Little spread here for to Kuiper and the Rams. They'll
take the final shot down eight. Remember it was double
digits for a while to Kuiper. Nice spin move on
Fisher that time kicks left corner on the way for three.
Blystone short Griffin Baker with the rebound final two seconds.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
I think they'll just hang on to it, and they will.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
What a first half between these two rivals and the
ok Red the rematch after Rockford won by two last
month at home and at the break our score Hudsonville.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Thirty five, Rockford twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
Stay with us.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
The whole Jepson Physical Therapy halftime show is coming up.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
After the break, we'll send.

MHSAA representation in this year's and passed Super Bowls, and
the first batch of one hundred and twenty three Hockey
Tournament games is nearly here. I'm John Ross and this
is this Week in High School Sports, powered by the
Michigan Achievement Scholarship. For a select handful of people, becoming
an MHSAA registered official has been a pathway to working
(43:29):
some of the world's biggest games. This year's Super Bowl referee,
Ron Torbert, has worked two of the last four Super Bowls,
and he's a former MHSAA official. Ron's also a graduate
of Michigan State University. Like Torbert, Dean Luk is an
MSU grad. In fact, Looked played football at MSU and
finished sixth in the nineteen fifty nine Heisman Trophy voting.
(43:51):
He played professional baseball and football before starting a career
in stripes. Looke has worked three Super Bowls numbers thirteen,
fifteen and two twenty seven. And if you've ever seen
the famous Joe Montana to Dwight Clark play in the
nineteen eighty one NFC Championship, you've.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
Seen Dean look.
Speaker 17 (44:08):
He was in the corner of the end zone as
Clark came down with the ball and signaled touchdown on
the play that is now known simply as the Catch.
Look attended Lansing Everett Highchool before going to MSU. And
then there are the Paganelli brothers from Wyoming Rogers High School, Carl, Perry,
and Dean.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
They have all worked a Super Bowl.
Speaker 17 (44:27):
Carl and Perry are the first set of brothers to
work the same Super Bowl, that coming in two thousand
and seven. In total, the Paganellies have worked eight different
Super Bowls. Remarkably, in thirteen of the fifty nine Super Bowls,
one of Torbert Look or a Paganelli brother has been
on the field. That's nearly a quarter of the time
that the game has been played. A former MHSAA official
(44:49):
has been on the field as well. If you'd like
to get involved officiating games, register online. Just go to
MHSAA dot com and click on Officials. It's time for
game ball, when we highlight a trio of standout performances
from the past week. First, Jacob Collins scored fourteen points
for grass Lake and a forty three to twenty seven
win over Michigan Center. The victory keeps grass Lake undefeated
(45:12):
on the season and clinches the Cascade East Boys basketball title.
The Allen Park Competitive cheer team. They outscored rival Gibalt
Carlson to take home the Down River League crown and
to the Cass City wrestling team. They captured their ninth
straight district title by knocking off bad Acts and Ugly.
Speaker 18 (45:32):
Graduating seniors could qualify for a tuition free skill certificate
or associate degree through the new Community College Guarantee. No
matter their GPA or your household income, or if your
child plans to attend a four year university or career school,
the Michigan Achievement Scholarship.
Speaker 12 (45:49):

Our weekly be The Referee Feature takes a look at
the fine art of officiating with Registered official Page Winning.
Speaker 19 (46:11):
During a high school ice hockey game, a player is
assessed a minor penalty for tripping. The penalized team successfully
clears the pot. During the ensuing power play, a teammate
of the penalized player accidentally shoots the puck directly out
of play from their defensive zone. Is this a delay
of game penalty? If so, does a team go down
two players. A delay of game penalty for shooting the
(46:34):
puck directly out of play in the defensive zone will only.
Speaker 12 (46:37):
Be assessed if the action is deliberate.
Speaker 19 (46:40):
If it is deemed accidental, no additional penalty is called.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
In this situation.
Speaker 19 (46:45):
The referee determines that the puck was shot out of
play accidentally, the team does not receive a delay of
game penalty and remains at four skaters.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Thanks Page, Now more than ever, we need officials.
Speaker 17 (46:56):
If you're interested, please go to the MHSAA website to register.
The mhsaa's ice hockey tournament gets started next week with
thirty regional first round games and then forty eight regional semifinals.
Once those two rounds are complete, we'll already be down
to the final twenty four matchups eight in each of
our three divisions. Each regional is seated based on MPR.
(47:18):
That means in Division one, Detroit Catholic Central is the
overall top ranked team, Foint Powers is tops in Division two,
and Orchard Lake Saint Mary's is the highest ranked.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
In Division three.
Speaker 17 (47:28):
After next week's games, the regional finals will be played
on February twenty six, and then the quarterfinals on March First.
Semifinals and finals are March sixth, seventh, and eighth at
USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, and all nine games from
there will be available to watch on the NFHS Network.
Stay up to date on all results, schedules, and more
by visiting the Hockey page at MHSAA dot com. You've

Thanks for joining us. I'm John Ross. We'll be back
next week.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
Monica. We've got to hand it to you.
Speaker 12 (48:04):
You and the design team have outdone yourselves.
Speaker 20 (48:07):
Are you talking about the One Collection?
Speaker 12 (48:09):
Those rings say you are.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
The one and they say it symbolically?
Speaker 2 (48:13):
Describe the symbols.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Every ring in the One Collection should be presented with
a special ritual.
Speaker 12 (48:18):
What would that ritual be?
Speaker 4 (48:20):
You pick up her left hand and you place a
kiss on her ring.
Speaker 12 (48:23):
Finger, Rick, you never told me about that part.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
Then you show her the tiny red diamond flesh mounted
inside the ring that will forever be in contact with
her finger. Why is it red, because that's when the
giver says to the one, wherever you go, my heart
goes with you.
Speaker 12 (48:39):
I give you this kiss, I give you my heart.
The red diamond is a secret symbol of that sacred moment.
The center diamond on the outside of the ring is
for the whole world to.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
See, but the tiny red created diamond inside the ring
is only for the two of them.

The one collection of engagement rings is available exclusively at Kessler's.

Inside the nine to six won the game studios, I'm
Joe Arrant. Let's take a look at the rapid radio
scoreboard before the second half. It's about ready to get underway.
We'll start in college hoops Big Ten, Big Time, Big
Top twenty matchup at the Chrysler Center tonight.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
In and Arbor.
Speaker 9 (49:27):
Ten seconds strike that eleven seconds to play. In the
first half. Michigan trails Purdue thirty seven to thirty five.
Running Hill Junior leads Michigan with fourteen Braden Smith with
fourteen four The boiler Makers coming up in about ten minutes.
On Talk twelve thirty WTKG. The Detroit Pistons will tip
off in Chicago the night against the Bulls, and of
(49:48):
course we mentioned it's a big time Big ten night
in Michigan State will be in action versus the Indiana Hoosiers.
Coverage for that one will begin in approximately nine minutes
on Big one on one three. They won't tip that
one off until nine p m. Our High School football
Game of the Week brings us to Hudsonville High School
where we are at the half. We're Hudsonville leads Rockford
(50:09):
thirty five to twenty seven. Let's head back courtside with
Brett Pakina and Jason Hutton for second half action.
Speaker 4 (50:15):
Guys, thank you Joe.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Appreciate that our Rapid Radio scoreboard update at halftime bought

Thirty five twenty seven Hudsonville leading Rockford at the break.
After one it was twenty four to seven Hutsville. That
great start. Let's go to my partner Jason Nuttin now
with our MKD Funerholmes first half individual scoring summary.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Let's start with Rockford six points apiece from Mikey to
Kuiper and Dylan Gross, five from their leading scorer Jake
Bascom in his first game back from a hamstring injury,
three apiece for Eli Wolf and Ty bleistone and two
each for Josh Bascom and Isaac Pooh for their twenty
seven for Hudsonville led by junior point guard Javin Daniels
with fifteen nine for Justin Fisher, four each for Joey
(51:02):
Miller and Isaiah Hamlett, and three for Carson Dykstra for
thirty five for Hudsonville. They need to continue to find
Justin Fisher and shoot the three well in the second half.
Key for Rockford they need to defend a little bit better,
tighten up the screws, and dot turn the ball over.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
Too many turnovers Rockford that first.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
Half, Eagles start with the basketball movie left right in
a rated down. This third quarter, Joey Miller turn around
jumper fade away in the paint. Good defense didn't get it,
but out of the battle for the rebound, Griffin Baker
came up with it and Dylan Gross gonna be called
for the Rockford file to reach in so Joe Bam
Daniels will inbounds full of the Eagles underneath their own basket,
throws it left wing to Justin Fisher will reset the
(51:40):
squarty us started laps in the second half, same as
the first half. Hamlet now has it down low, going
across the paint with the right hand up and over
Jake Bascomb, using all six point eight of his.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Size in that long reach for Isaiah Hamlet.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Well, that's something we did not see in the first half.
The post.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Huttonville doesn't do a lot of posts that play a
lot of five out, but they go to Hamlet in there.
Really nice move the big fell in a nice touch
as they stand back to a double digit lead.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Isaac poop penetration now trying to free himself. Good battle
there with a couple football players with Baker. Baker holds
his ground, missed by Poot Baker, the.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
Rebound back to the way.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
Look at the big fella running the floor, Hamlet with
back to back buckets and it's back to a dozen
point Lee.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
And the second half is starting just like the first half.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
Everyone Hudsonville jumped out ten nothing eventually built on that lead,
led by as many as seventeen Boom they get the
first two buckets of the second half and push back
to a dozen.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
Lucas Pitch now drives bumped by Hamlet tough one as
he hits the deck. So you've got gross Dick Kiper
Pitch poop and also Jake Bascom, three seniors, two juniors
for Kyle Cluff like they started the game with basket
them back in the lineup, Joe von Daniels, Hamlet Baker.
You know, one of the things we didn't touch on
is Miller battle a little bit of foul trouble. Didn't
(52:49):
play a ton in that second quarter. He's back in there.
Oh nice step threw up and under leaving his man
and Lucas Pitch showing you kind of his guard play
as a big man.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
They are a nice extra bounce for the lay in.
Speaker 13 (52:59):
Well.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Pitch is a guard.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
I mean, yes, he's tall, but he can play like
a guard and he's really adapted to play inside, play defense.
Speaker 21 (53:06):
I really like what.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
Lucas Pitch is doing here.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Senior year Daniels pull up jump on the baseline back
the other way to answer from fifteen. He leads all
scores now with seventeen to Kuyper penetration bounce past download
to bask him, gathers himself, goes up.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
No lost a handle going up, but was bumped. So
it's Fisher Miller.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
As I mentioned, Daniels, Baker and Hamlet save starting lamp
to start the second half for Eric Elitt and Eric
just kind of working that sideline, shakes his head. I
think he's frustrated with his guys because they had basket
him in a tough position to make that shot, but
then kind of bailed him out and Jake will go
to the free throw line.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
I don't know what you thought of bask him in
the first half, Jake Bascomb, I'm talking about very little rust.
I mean, he looks good to me. He turn back
up that injury. I didn't go to him here in
the second half.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
And you know what, he was challenged by the Hudsonville Biggs.
I thought there was good action both sides with the
biggs as nice job by Bascom, and that's where he
can also really rack up some points. He draw us
files and then as a big man, shoots the free
throws very well with his stroke and you can see
it now because he's starting to put some points up
on the board.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
He's got six.
Speaker 3 (54:10):
Now Daniels off the high screen cut off by basket
of Daniels, hesitation, dribble all nice leave that time defender
came over to help and right there to put it
in his oasting.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
He just checked in.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
That's why you have to love Daniels. I mean, he
can really shoot it. He can take the ball to
the basket. He can also drive, draw and then find
the open man. Just pretty pretty basketball that time by
Jergund Daniels.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
Pitch a couple of big guys on the bounce pass
and the dribble penetration download a basket who hit the
deck hard and now body's still on the floor and
shaking up.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Is that oasting?
Speaker 3 (54:41):
I think it is for Hundsonville who will draw the
file against Bascom. Bascomb's gonna I think come back to
the Churchy trip piece limping a little bit, so we'll
keep an eye on Jake with that hamstring injury.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
And Oasting is really slow to get up. I don't
know if he hit his head, Yeah it was Oasting,
and basketom that collided was a little slow to get
up as well.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Right, Hosting is still not up.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
Never a good sign. We wish him well.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
Here as the trainers are out forty three to thirty
with basket, I'm gonna go to the charity stripe for Rockford.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Five point fifty three left to go in the third
with the stoppage and play.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
Want to remind you our first half scoring summary brought
to you by MKD Funeral Homes and the road of
the Brezon Center coming up again by our friends at
MKD with eight locations to serve you and now slow
to get up, but he is walking off under his
own power as oast team every story, every moment, every day,
MKD Funeral Home since nineteen thirty seven. Think about that, folks,
through four generations, that respective family tradition continues.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
You can find a location near you. Go to mkdfuneral
Home dot com.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
That's MKD Funeral Home dot com and their newest location
just down the road here Riley Street, downtown Jamestown, serving
the Jamestown in Hudsonville Areas not too far away.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
From Hudsonville field House. What a facility here? Does this
remind you of Cornerstones Mull Arena. This facility is amazing.
This fieldhouse is absolutely beautiful at state of the art.
Let's play every game. Here is going to host the
regional in boys, and I know, let's host the district,
Let's host the quarter, Let's have it all here. This
is great.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
First free throw after the injury up and good bye
Jake Bascom only a junior leading scorer for Rockford coming in.
We mentioned the numbers fourteen points per game, just under
seven rebounds. Well, the big fellas second one hits the
front of the rim, no rebound hamlet, so forty three
thirty one under six minutes and ticking left to go
the third quarter. Goodwood here in Hudsonville, tonight of the
(56:27):
rematch between the Rams of the Eagles, Joe Bon Daniels
double high screen, trying to free himself.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Look at the fancies.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Ridley with basket, A nice job basket to pick him
up and now tries to reach and does get the
steal on Daniels with those long arms knocked away. Pitch
brings it up now Puot wanted to push it to
Kuiper in the corner for three. No, a little bit
too strong rebound Fisher.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Well, every time Rockford gets an opportunities can't quite get
the shot to go. Excellent defense by basket in that
time and a good look for the Kiper was an
outstanding shooter, and both.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
These teams can really shoot the three well when they
get it going in bunches. And now Fisher on the
triple trive to dribble off his foot out of bounds
and go back to Rockford. Here's going to come out
and checking in for him will be the freshman Josh Bascom.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Yeah, I was gonna come out. Josh Baskom's a guy.
You know, he's only a freshman, but he's a guy
that can really provide a spark for Rockford. Got those
two fouls in the first half, wasn't much of a factor.
This is a big spot here. Let's see if Baskom,
Josh the freshman can't make an impact for the Rams.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
To Kuiper now fakes the handoff, goes baseline, try to
skip it opposite deflected out of bounds by Alex Armstrong.
Speaker 1 (57:26):
Strong the sophomore forward, as.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
You mentioned, good size, lanky, just checking in for Eric Elliott,
Joey Miller checking out. You mentioned Rockford Kyle Kluff going
for his fourth ok RED title with a win here tonight.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
They would wrap it out, wrap it up outright.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
And go back to back for the Rams on the
boy side, Oh scoop under no good bye Pitcher, round
it out rebound Armstrong.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
Nice job by Alex Armstrong because that was the situation
where Hudsonville was scrambling a bit on the defense and
that can sometimes lead to offensive boards.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
Boy Rockford, can they just get a run going and
try to get over the top. Hutsonvill's led the entire way.
Daniels right corner, Fisher just a little too strong. Rebound
up high Lucas pitch.
Speaker 1 (58:05):
Justin Fisher's human. I expected it to go in. I
know he's got a sweet stroke, doesn't he?
Speaker 3 (58:09):
Absolutely remember Calbert Cheney Back of the day for Indiana,
And speaking of sweet stroke, Lucas pitch knocks it down
from the left wing.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
Nice assist, Buddy Kuiper, you're taking me back, partner.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
I love Calvert Chain Remember Ajke I just saw aj
Kite somewhere recently.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
Great player for Indiana. Who's yours? Needs some of those
guys again?
Speaker 3 (58:25):
Joe von Daniels off of high screen, got it knocked
away again. Those nice arms on the hedge by basket
now back door cut Armstrong, great job as he faked
going up before he even got the ball, and that
got up in the ear the freshman Josh Basketball com
it's the foul.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
Well and I can't I just can't say enough good
stuff about Javon Daniels. I mean, he's been one of
my favorite players all year. He did it scoring early.
He is passing the basketball so well and excellent. Find
that time to Armstrong. You won't get an assist out
of it, but it's the pass that gets Armstrong.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
To the line starting laps in the second half. Brought
to you by Sporting You you think it that Linkett
took care of our ninety six to one. The game
broadcast screw again this year is Armstrong hits the first
and now dykester gonna come in off the bench. Both
teams so deep, go about eight or nine deep in
the rotation. Griffin Baker, we'll check out at the four
fourteen mark.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
Well, you know Rockford playing most had been playing mostly
seven without Jake Bascom. Mean, Riley Wells got in a
little bit. We saw Chase Pitch play just a little bit,
but they were basically playing seven, you know, Friday and
Saturday back to back nights last week and got wins
over good teams in East Catwood, North Farmington and back
to eight to night with Basket them if they get
to Wells.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
Or pitch could go even deeper. Eli Wolf in there.
Speaker 3 (59:32):
Good matchup with youngsters with Jovon Daniels Armstrong by the
way eating out of the second so he splits the
pair of Wolf now coming off on high screen with
the left hand, got to the left elbow, nowhere to go,
hands off to fellow freshman Josh Bascom.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
Now back door cut pitch, extra pass to.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Jake goes up.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Yes, and one great job with the pump fake by
Jake Baskom. He got Fisher up in the air, then
hit him on the back as he went up Strong
got the bucket and you'll go back to the charity stripe.
Jake Basket picking up his game here in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Well it's good works.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
I mean they got a chance for a three point
play here, but a great cut by Lucas pitch. He
should have shot it. He had a wide upen lamp
and gave it up to Basktom and it works.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
They end up they don't get the three and now
Lucas Pitch trying to get the offensive rebound boxed out
tips it out so to be Hudsonville basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
The league is just eight forty four to thirty six,
by the way.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
Our Baskets for Kids program continuing tonight, we've had a
few threes knocked down. Can we get it through a
few more here in the second half? Through seven games
and we do ten of the regular season. This is
game number eight, thirty three hundred dollars off of three
points made girls and boys with our LMCU Game of
the Week broadcast and fifty dollars each one made donation
(01:00:41):
from LMSD to the kids Food Basket. We're gonna have
a full time out taken by Hudsonville, so we'll step
aside as well. Three forty five left to go into
third it's Hudsonville forty four, Rockford thirty six.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Back with more.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
As you're listening to a Tuesday in that edition of
the LMCU High School Basketball Game of the Week, you're
on ninety six to one the game.
Speaker 16 (01:00:59):
Ninety Trucking Company is officially in operation.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
They've just started a free game coverach from the President
Center nine o'clock tip on the Peacock Network. Michigan State
number eleven in the AP rankings this week, hosting Indiana.
So it's the Michigan Schools against the Hoosiers tonight, and
let's see what can happen. All big games obviously perdue
Michigan miss and State right there atop the.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Big ten standings. Yeah, was gonna say three of the
four battling for that Big ten title. A lot of
big games to play, of course, Michigan Michigan State played twice.
I haven't played yet. Yeah, crazy how that schedule works out.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Jovon Daniels after the time out, dribbling left wing right
in front of Eric Ella at the Eagles bench gets
it back out to him between the circles.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Pull up jumper got to the right elbow too strong.
Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Hi, Karen Fisher with the offensive rebound and Isaac Puote
was just too far underneath the basket that time.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
Karen high and out.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Tough break for the Rams, Fishing with a nice rebound
and Poot commits the foul.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
There's Justin Fisher again doing doing big things. He just
keeps on coming up big.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Look at the file situation here, four against Hudsonville, three
now for rock Ords. So we'll see if we get
to that five foul. Mark got a hurry diister just
beat the five second call. Now Isaac Poot stepping knocks
it away. Kyle Kloff is saying, why wasn't there a foul? Yeah,
there could have been.
Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Fisher.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
They're gonna say, just play on it. It was off
with Poot out of bounds. Fisher and Poot made contact
there going for the basketball break for Hutsville. Not only
did not get a follow on Fisher, but to get
the basketball out of bounce.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
And remember if that would have been a file against Fisher,
that would have gone to the other end and we
would have been shooting free throws for the Rams. Now
Daniels almost threw it away, but Fisher was gonna cut
and now a bump gonna be called against Eli wolf
Kyle Kloff can't believe it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
And the file situation that quickly evens up at four
a piece. That was a bailout because that was not
a good pass. That had turned over it and all
over it. And they called a nickel dime small change
on Eli Wolfe. Another break for Utzeville.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Garson Dykstra, as you mentioned, the talented wide receiver on
the Hutsonville football team. They honored coach Sandy here at halftime,
there was and now did Kuiper.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
They called it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Daniels pump fake, got him hung up a little bit
and then dribble drive around him and got caught for
the block.
Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
In the hold. I've never seen this. I mean, we're
one file away from both teams being in the bonus
again and there's three oh four still play in the
third court. A lot of time.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
How many players are going to be left to finish
this game?
Speaker 3 (01:03:59):
Joe Bond Daniel at the free throw line, Oh gets
the shooters roll over the front of the rim. Good
he's got eighteen now to lead all scores. I tell
you what, they'll Fisher with nine, Hamlet with eight. They've
done a nice job. Good balance for Rockford is now
wholesale substitutions for Kyle Kleff to Kaiper and also pitch
and poot all the seniors checking out Daniel's second free throw.
(01:04:21):
High archer, sweet stroke knocks it down nineteen for the
junior and it's back to a ten point advantage.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Forty six thirty six.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
As Eli Wolf brings it across the timeline right sideline,
Spence frees himself. Now the left handed runner airball rebound
Joe von Daniels.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Yeah, the Eagles just keep on holding at arms length here,
you know, keep avoiding that Rockford run.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Keep that leader ound eight or ten.
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Here's Daniels deep three, oh too strong over basket battle
for the rebound. Look at Fisher working hard to keep
it alive, and he's gonna draw another fall against Rockford
twenty one. You mentioned the effort the first half, picking
it up here in the third quarter, keeping these balls.
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
Alive, and they called the fourth foul on Eli Wolf.
Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
He hasn't played many minutes too, He's just been the
wrong guy in the wrong spot for some of those
because you wanted to be aggressive. He was just trying
to get the rebound there. Meanwhile, you don't want to
send this guy to the free throw line either. In
Fisher first free throw on the way nothing but Nyland,
You're right. I mean, he's got one of the smoothest
strokes I've seen this year, boys or girls.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Yeah, I'm not left handed, but it doesn't it just
always look it looks. It looks better.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Al Astro Nitzel, it does. He's a big fan. There
is something about it too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
He's right.
Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
I mean, look at that, just pure rotation, barely touches
the ram and don't look now, but Fisher's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
Got eleven heads back to twelve in Rockford without Eli
Wolf now with four fouls. I liked your term that
Hutsonville just kind of hold them off right arm's length
here Rockford trying to get a run together, just can't
do it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
Josh bask him now driving, good call. How about your body?
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
You love this right? Eric Elliot, switch up the Hudson
on his zone this time. Good timing for it too, right,
You kind of got him down a dozen. Give them
a new looks see what they can do.
Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
But I like the freshman Josh Bascom. These freshmen are
aggressive too. He goes off the dribble drive with the
taller Armstrong and got him to, you know, get out.
Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
Of position and drew the block that time.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
And because of the situation to the free throw line
and Josh the lefty, well it was the first one home.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
That was the third fall on Alex Armstrong. They're starting
to mount on everybody, both teams in the bonus in
this third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Yeah, out there by the way, Bascom's got three. And
remember both the freshmen are coming off the pench and
are in foul trouble. Second one, no battle for the rebound,
tipped around. Fisher's got it now, I was gonna lead
the break up ahead Hamlet. You just checked back in
in the right corner. Back to Fisher right wing, matched
up with Jake Bascom kicks over left side, diks a
good looking at three. That's an air bowl off the mark.
(01:06:53):
Isaac Poot with the rebound, and now here come the
Rams back four on three. Look at poot transition. Oh
a round it out of the scoop.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
He's faster dribbling than anybody. Else is running. He's just
that fast poot You can't get mad about that because
he's just He got the ball right under his own
hoop and he beat everybody there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
It was unbelievable, and Kyle Club I think what they
want here? The Rocker fans are saying interference. Yeah, a
slapping of the backboard maybe when it was up there,
because that almost dropped anyways, it did not, it popped out,
and the officials not buying the argument of Kyle Cluff.
Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
I tell you that was close.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
So there was a lot of activity up by the
ram Isaac the senior knocks down the first gonna go
to Grand Valley State and play football for the Lakers
next year.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
To Kuiper back in by the way, basket will check out.
What would you do with Poote at the college level?
We're you gonna play him. It's gonna be like a
return guy. I think, what do you think? Oh? Absolutely
on special teams.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
He's a good uh secondary man too, good safety could
throw him back there with his speed and you know,
good luck trying to throw over the top of him.
Second free throw is good for nine. It's back to
sing digits here. Daniel's working out front, the little two
man game of Armstrong on the left side, now crossed
over at oh, try to dope an Armstrong who was
(01:08:07):
floating back out.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Daniels threw it right into the bench. Yeah, Ryan Ackman
was wide open. Problem is he's on the bench, so
it's turnover. Here's Rockford with the ball down nine.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Minute fifty and ticking left to go in this third quarter,
so still plenty of time. This one's gonna be another
good finish in this rivalry series.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Alton Will scored the first ten. They've led by as
many as seventeen. Rock for got it down to five
once at thirty to twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
Zad Kuiper Nice passed down low, bask him up and
under no as it hits off the front of the ram,
but draws the file against Hamlet.
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
So jake back to the charity stripe.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Right, let's go to Baskom inside. He doesn't have to shoot.
I mean, if you draw some attention by the open guy.
But if you're gonna go one on one, take your
chances with twenty four and.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
Both teams like you mentioned in the bonus, so why
not throw it towards the rim and let the other
team follow you.
Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
And that's three on Hamlet.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
So if you're Eric Elliott, you're either going even deeper
into your bench to guys who don't play very often,
or you're gonna risk it with some of these guys
with three fouls.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
Here was still nine and a half minutes to go
in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
Basket by the way, how many is he collecting at
the free throw line? Just pouring him in now?
Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
Second one on the way, good stroke knocks it down. Boy,
did he pick up the pace? He's got eleven? Now, yeah,
he leads Rockford eleven, the only Ram in double figures.
He's the only Ram that averages double figures.
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
Daniels with nineteen.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
The lead score leaves it for Fish or Fisher short
from the left wing battle for the rebound. Nice effort.
Armstrong comes up with over to Daniels for three. Yes,
right in front of the Eagles student section. Rottlesing home
in the left corner, and another answer for Hudsonville.
Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
And justin Fisher again in the middle of it. He
missed the shot. It was short all the way. He
follows his shot and kept it alive, and that's.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
What leads to the open three for Daniels. You're right,
great effort, both teams laying out the lines. Just a
good basketball game here, Dylan Gross trying to answer deep three.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
He was a good seven feet behind the arc.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Now bask him tips it into the back court, and
Eric Kelly is saying, wait a minute, that's gotta be
an over him back.
Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Kyle Cloff not sure, but it was. It was deflex
did by bask them. Either way, it came off the rim,
so it's still over him back. You can't it wasn't
touched by Hunts. Yeah, but Baskom tipped it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Yes he did, but Hudsonville never touched it. It's definitely
over hi back. Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:10:18):
Eric Ellie can't believe he's saying, wait a minute, he
tipped it out a Rockford player into the back.
Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
Did they switch it. That's definitely over and back. But
they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
They're gonna give it to Rockford. That's why they went
and talked to coach Elliott. After they talked to coach Clubb.
I don't I don't know if they didn't see it,
but clearly, I mean, it was.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Never touched by Hutsonville player.
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
It was shot. It came long rebound. Josh Bascom tipped
it into the backcourt, and.
Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
That's what Eric Ellie is saying, and we saw it
right here. I mean it should be over and back.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
There's no scenario where it isn't over and back.
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
I don't get that one. No, I don't either.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Isaac Poote is going to inbounds it though for Rockford
right at the timeline, throws it in the backcourt to
the Kaiper final fifty seconds this third quarter to ten
point advantage. Rockford would love to answer here and make
it single digits going into the fourth gross offset right
over to Kiper. He'll pull up from three. No, left
it short, Lucas pitch with the rebound, and they're gonna
get Armstrong, who is late trying to get that board
(01:11:12):
with a grab, and so that'll send Lucas pitch to
the charity stripe for two.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Well, Eli Wolf already with four for Rockford. Now you've
got Alex Armstrong with four for Hudsonville and basically everybody
else in the game with three. I'm guessing I don't
know how many fouls Joey Miller has, but it's got
to be at least three because he hasn't played much.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Right, we only have the fouls of the players that
are in the game. So now we'll find out. As
Miller comes in with thirty eight point two seconds left
to go, Armstrong going out first free throw, good by Lucas.
Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
Pitch three for Miller.
Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
Pitch by the way with six, try to make it
seven here makes it a nine point advantage, and silky smooth, boy,
the bigs can shoot for all these teams, can't they.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
That's two good shooting teams. Teams that can shoot, the
three teams that can shoot free throws.
Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
But even guys with size, you don't normally see him
shooting free throws well, shooting from out of the field.
Speaker 1 (01:12:02):
Well, that's that's the trend of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
It's like Kevin Durant changed that. I tell my thirteen
year olds on this all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
He's like, he's seven foot, he shouldn't be able to
shoot that. I'm like, Kevin Durant changed the game.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
Final twenty seconds, Sarah Kellyott is just gonna be content
to pull it out here with Joevont Daniels dribble it
out on the eaglehead near the timeline to Kuiper gonna
try and challenge him a little bit here high screen
from Miller. Daniels goes around, it gets to the spotty
wants for three rattles at home with three seconds left,
clock is ticking. Got a hurry, grow is just gonna
let it fly and that's too strong off the top
(01:12:33):
of the backboard and again Hudsonville gets an answer to
and the quarter with that Daniels three, He's got twenty five.
As we head to the final eight minutes, it's Hudsonville
fifty four, Rockford forty three. Glad to have you with

Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
Nice time of the dump, no look past and the
bounce past at Kuiper to the two handed slam of
Jake boscom.
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Well and Daniels hit the big three at the end
of the third quarter. And just like you said, every
time the needs the bucket.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
They get one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Rockford a little momentum here with the basketom dump. They
need to get it done on this end. Now, get
it turnover, get the ball back at score.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
Now Miller too close to Fisher, threw it through his
hands out of bound, so unforced turnover again by the Eagles.
Basket by the way, the leading score for Rockford with
thirteen and how about Fisher with eleven and Joe von
Daniels with twenty five.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Yeah, Daniels has been huge.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
You can really shoot the threes, got into the lieses,
gott into the bucket when he had too. He's really
set up his teammates as well. Big trip here for Rockford.
They ain't get a little closer back to Manda Man
pressure to Kuiper open for three. You can't get it
to go off the front rim good seal that time.
I believe it was bask him out top with a
screen on Joey Miller, but just couldn't knock it down
(01:15:15):
at a good open look. Daniels now walks it across
the half court line.
Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
Watch body Kiper both teams even though foul trouble still
going Manda Man pressure defense. Griffin Baker hands off to Hamlet,
over to Fisher, fakes the three. Nice drive down the
left side of lane, puts it up in it off
the window, around the outstretched hand to bask him back
to the way to Kuiper and the paint floating through. Yes,
with a scoop shot Mike to Kuiper, showing his athleticism.
Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
There you love, end to end action. Fisher left hand
to Kuiper left hand. They're back and forth, but Hutsonville
just continues to kind of hold off.
Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
Rockford.
Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Oh. Now a swap by baskeom against Hamlet.
Speaker 3 (01:15:52):
After a pretty feed by Daniels down the lane, back
to the way, step through eurostep to Kuiper. Know, Griffin
Baker digs out the rebound he's got. They're tired up
and down we go. Yeah, the kiperhead gross as a trailer.
There could have been a big time three. Still though,
he's going to get into the basket. He's getting a ball.
You can't complain about that, shop, but it didn't go
fifty six forty seven. With all that, it's still a
(01:16:13):
nine point advantage. We rolled into six minutes left to
go in regulation. Rockford just one loss on the season.
Daniel's now driving through the lane, deflecting the bass and
Hamlet stepped out of the end line.
Speaker 1 (01:16:23):
But Daniels in traffic that time, and how.
Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Active is Basktom gets the block down there, gets the
deflection there that forced the turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Well on the wingspan too, right when he puts his
arms straight up in leaves, he gets pretty high up there.
It's hard to get the ball over. And what Hudsonville
tried to do, basketom looks healthy to me. It looks
really good. It's a good sign for Rockford. But they
are trailing.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
We are in the fourth quarter, which means we gotta
throw out there our wing Doozy fan of the game.
We'll do that in a minute when we get a chance.
Five thirty seven and ticking left to go. Twenty five
dollars gift card to wing Doozy on the line. Good
luck on the triple by pitch off the mark rebound
basktom Oh, and he lowered the shoulder offensive foul against
the big fella as Joey Miller.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
It's the deck. You wouldn't believe it if I told you,
but that is the first foul on Jake Baskom. Wow,
the only player in this game not in foul trouble.
Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
Is Jake Baskom.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
Now the kiper gonna go out, poop, gonna go out
With five thirty left to go, a little full court
pressure out by Kyle Kloff and the Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
Rockford just can't get one of these big shots to go.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
They get the ball down nine, they take a three
if they can't get him to go, and they're just
not shooting.
Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
Well to night.
Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
Nice job, Fisher, and now he's gonna get a call
for an offensive foul.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
You just have no choice with the call that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
It's what they've called the entire game not necessary.
Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
I don't know where he was going there. I mean
Baskom was set for a while there. Yeah, I totally agree,
just out of control. Yericellat shaking his head because they
beat the pressure. They had numbers. But you can just
pull it back out or pull up for the jumper
and you can start.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
I mean you don't have to take long periods of time,
but you can start to go to work a little
bit on this clock. Now down to about five minutes
to go. With a nine point lead, take twenty thirty
seconds to get in your offense. We'll get a stoppach.
We'll give you the cue to call and the number
for the wing. Goosey fan of the game, Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Pitch nice three sixties, fitting its hamlet with the bounce
and finished back on the right side with the right hand.
Cuts it to seven, and now full court pressure to
steal Baskom has in the front court, spins down the
lane with the right hand and finish. Gerrick kell ain't
gonna take a time out, as it's cut to five.
Here comes Rockford with four fifty five left to go,
(01:18:17):
and let's see if it's a full or thirty. It's
gonna be a full time out. But here's what we'll do.
We'll keep it here and we'll do the wing. Doozy
fan of the game Joe Erin's standing by back in
the ninety six won the game.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
Studios As it's fifty six to fifty one.
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
Now Hudsonville by five with four point fifty five left
to go in regulation. The number to call is six
one six four five four thirty seven seventy six. Now,
if you wonder in the basketball season not eligible, we
got a twenty five dollars gift card to Wing Doozy
on the line six one six, four five four thirty
seven seventy six. And let's take callers six right now
(01:18:53):
to our studio lines. We'll announce who the winner is
coming up in the postgame show to you by discount
door and where you're listening from tonight, we appreciate on
this Tuesday night. So caller six, six one six four
five four thirty seven seventy six, you're gonna score that
twenty five dollars gift guard. Name the best Chicken Wings
in West Michigan three plus years running.
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
They've got a location just down.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
The road here next to Gemen's Ace Hardware, their sports
bar greatful by the way. The madness of March coming
up and the Big ten tournament. Or you can stop
by and see him Metro Health Village off of Byron
Center Avenue near my house. Love that Wing Doozy and
hold those fries are so good too, Jay I didn't
have my dinner tonight, so I'm a little hungry.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Well, one thing I like about Rockford and they take
the press off here, but we saw them get to
turn over the press a minute to go. They don't
press a lot, but when they do press, it is
effective and it's helped them get back into games when
they've been behind, which has not been offen this year.
Kind of caught the Eagles off guard a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
And now Joey Miller tries to go back to our
cut to fish or they throw it away again.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Good presser by Rockford. So now Eli Wolve's back in
with Fowls, right, I mean, you're four and a half
minutes ago, you might as well go with him.
Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
Four point thirty three and ticking left to go, Eli
Woolf tries to scoop it down the left side, contact
with Joey Miller, they play on and Hudsonville comes up
with it.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
Yeah, Joey Miller's trying to take a charge. I don't
blame him.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
That would have been Wolf's fifth.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
Now Daniel's trying to dribble through traffic, got stripped. Gross
comes up with it. No look past, look at pitch
down low, nobody's fouled as he got it to Josh Bascom,
who just checked in during the last time out the freshman,
and I tell you what, Pitch is playing with a
lot of confidence like the seniors game, and he can
see over defenders with his size there with that handily
as playing like a guard.
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
That's what I'm telling you. He's the guard.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Yeah he's tall, he is tall, but you know they
run picking pop with him and he's been able to
do everything for this team because he's one of the
taller players on a team that's not super tall. But yeah,
he's a guard. He excellent past that time and just
a second foul on Griffin.
Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
Baker Josh Bascom, younger brother of Jake, the freshman knocks
the first one down, hits a second, one, one possession game.
Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Right here we go. He's got five six of the
last twelve to the last eighteen.
Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
Right had to be.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
We know how to pick a partner, we know how
to pick up the okay red rematch.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Great atmosphere a Hudsonville field house. Remember Hudsonville has led
the entire game. They jumped out early twenty four to
seven after one corner three by the Big Fella Hamlet
from the right wing. He doesn't shoot a lot of them,
but he's been really good when he does. I think
he caught basketm off guard a little bit. He gave
him a little bit too much room for the big fella.
He's got eleven by the way I say Hamlet, the transfer,
(01:21:33):
Eli Wolf over the corner, Gross trying to answer No
off the back heel battle for the rebound. Look at
pitch this ripping away from Hamlet. They play on pitchdown low,
trying to muscle up No.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Tipped out of.
Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
There by Millerdi Griffin. Baker hands off to Daniels and
now he'll slow things down. Remember no shot clock as
he crosses a timeline with three thirty in ticking left
to go.
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
And for the first time in this game, we are
not approaching the bonus for either team, which would likely
become a factor.
Speaker 1 (01:21:59):
If it continues to be a two possession Hudsonville Ye.
Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
Eric Elliott not happy with his team going to take
a time out here, and this is a full time out,
so we'll step aside as well. Three twenty one left
to go in regulation. What a ballgame here at the
home of the Eagles. Hudsonville fifty nine, Rockford fifty three.
Back with more as you're listening to the LMCU Game
of the week here on ninety six to one.
Speaker 22 (01:22:19):

Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Don't forget we are not done.
Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
Once we go triple zeros here, stick around for the
discount door post game show. In that Jay will select
Tonight's Uptown Chiefs Skate Offensive player of the game. I'll
select our Montel Construction defense player the game. We have
some tough decisions and we're not done yet. Fifty nine
fifty three Hudsonville by six with the basketball. Here comes
the trap out near the timeline. Joey Miller needs some help,
gets into Hamlet. Hamlet wide open. Oh what a block
(01:23:27):
from high by basket. But they say got him with
the body. Wow, As it was a two on one
and Hamlet did the right thing because basketm got caught
behind him. There was nothing between him and the basket,
so we went strong. But boy, I thought that was
a pretty good block by basket for the backside. How
about to pass by Joey Miller.
Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
I mean he was tracked right at the volleyball line,
halfway between half court and the three point line. He
split it and find a wide open I said Hamlet.
Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
I thought he was gonna throw it down.
Speaker 3 (01:23:54):
Isaiah Hamlet hits the first big free throws here this
quarter being brought to you by Kids Food Basket. We're
up by the way with the three pointers made here
tonin fifty dollars every time to add to our season
total of thirty three. Official nonprofit for the LMCU High
School basketball game. The way Kids Food Basket and Hamlet
the transfer gets them both. Now he'll check out for
a quick breathe there three thirteen left to go, osting
(01:24:16):
back in boy, Hamlet coming up big tonight, the six'
eight thirteen points absolutely huge, five in a row. Remember
I forgot it fifty six to fifty three and Hamlet
goes for five in a row. You didn't get to
hear it in our pregame conversation. But what chuckled me
the most with Elliott when I was talking to him
in our pregame interview. Nice lee for pitch for three,
(01:24:37):
no off, the mark basket tips it back out. But
to Joey Miller, he's ahead of the pack, pits from
the backside. Miller goes up, plays it up and in
oh pitch. Gotta be careful as he went into the
Eagle student section, but okay, good sportsmanship is They didn't
let him get too far in there.
Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
A little disappointing.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
I thought Joey was gonna throw it down like walk
with an answer for three and a quick time out
by Rockford and Kyle Kloff after that, make how about
that from the freshman?
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
But what I was gonna say, let's be hanging what
major chuckle?
Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
So Eric Kelliott was talking about Isaiah Hamlet, and you
know he was kind of describing each player. I asked
him to break down. He said, you know, he's a
solid post player for us. He's six ' eight. He
goes through other things and he goes, oh and he's
six's eight. Yeah, what a difference he.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
I mean, what an addition to this team.
Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
Absolutely, He's exactly what they needed because everyone else can
play more of their natural positions at three and four,
like a Joey Miller. Even an Ostein can play post
coming off the bench to relieve Hamlet.
Speaker 1 (01:25:30):
But Hamlet is their center, no doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
He plays the five.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
But I talked about it earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
They play a lot of five out. I mean Rockford
does the same thing, you know, right bask hims the five,
but he plays outside, so you got a lot of
five out.
Speaker 1 (01:25:42):
This is a great matchup.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
These two teams, very similar, like them both potential state quarterfinals.
Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
I was just gonna say, they're gonna go opposite ways,
and so it's gonna be a lot of fun for
them because I think from what I've seen tonight, and
this is the first time I saw Rockford a little
bit in a game before we were gonna cover at Cornerstone,
I had not seen huts Bill at all this year
in person. But very impressed with both teams well coached
and obviously a lot of different athletes can go to well.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
If you think about the potential of the regional here,
if it's all one seeds out of the districts Northview,
Byron Center, Grand Haven, Hudsonville.
Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
I'd be a doozy absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
And by the way, Grand Haven and Byron Center are
both beating Hudsonville.
Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
So keep an eye that we know how good Northview is.
You're gonna see next Tuesday night. Don't forget Northfew wit
South Christian for that. Okay White, excuse me? Okay Gold,
I said Okay White earlier with all Sheffley, Okay Gold.
Rematch and that will decide. By the way, that division
like Rockford is trying to do. But up against it
here with a win tonight, Fisher now in the front court,
Kyle Kleff thought he traveled. Now Joe von Daniels got
(01:26:42):
to be careful and he gets bailed out with a
bump I think by Gross near the timeline.
Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
Dangerous by Daniels. So just the third team toll on Rockford.
They still have one to give.
Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
And I was I metioned in these situations right like,
if you're Rockford here, be aggressive, right.
Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
You don't need to.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
Intentionally foul if you follow, no big deal. You're trying
to get a steal. Aggressive defensively to.
Speaker 1 (01:27:01):
Get a steal.
Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
Sixty three fifty six, the lead is seven. Griffin Bakery
inbounds on the sideline, gets it into Joey Miller, watched
by the younger basketom. Now to Fisher, they'll play a
little keepway remember no shot clock in high school basketball.
To Kuiper against Daniels, has got a great handle, Jovon
working against him, crossover wow, around him down.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
The lane and finished this with a scoop. How impressive
was that with joe Vont Daniels. Well, I really wasn't
sure about offensive player of the game even though he
had twenty five.
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
But I think he stealed it right there.
Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Wow, that was pretty Fingask him now down the lane
and they're gonna get jo Von Daniels with.
Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
The reach and didn't need to do it. I mean,
justin Fisher and Isaiah, I'm gonna made strong cases, but
I Jovon Daniels has just been.
Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
And that's why because Rockford, for the intense pressure they
put on the ball, he's handled it most of the night.
He's done a pretty good job. And to me that's
impressive because he hasn't just done it with himself. He's
got his teammates involved with some nice passing. Bask him
at the free throw line. Josh has done a good
jomp here down the stretch for Kyle Kluff and the
Rams gets the first. Now wholesale substitutions Poot de Kiper
(01:28:06):
and also blistone go out. Pitch comes in, Gross comes
in Eli Wolf. Of those four files coming in with
two four left to go, so little offense back in
replacing defense and nice job by Basking. The freshman hits
the second. Now he can run the baseline. Joey Miller
needs some help and Griffin Baker fouled as he got
(01:28:27):
it in in the corner. I believe that was the
one to give right not in the bonus yet. Now
the next one will put Hudsonville at the charity stripe
to try to ice this one away. Keep in mind
this a seventy two percent free throw shooting team, and
obviously they've got guys they want to get it to,
like this guy, Joe von Daniels love past the Baker
(01:28:50):
and the backguard brings it in the front court.
Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
Now needs help picked up his dribble. Don't want to
do that. Good defense by Basket FoST to a.
Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
Five second call, and now oh wow, they got the deflection,
but they're gonna say Jake bask him hit him on
the hand. Boy, I have to agree with Kyle Cloff.
That was a tough one. I had to be pretty
darn close to a five seconds.
Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
That's what I was thinking too. I mean, Griffin Baker
was in all kinds of trouble.
Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
He was, and now let's see if the senior can
help out his club at the free throw line. Boy,
that was close. Basket picking up his third, by the way,
Jake leading the way. Remember coming back from injury with
fifteen on the night and Griffin Baker too strong on
the first.
Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Still a ton of time in this game. Minute fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
That is something, though, to bring up, Like you just
said that I had forgotten too earlier. You mentioned two shots.
Now no one at won anymore. It makes it harder
to come from behind, it does, it does, But you
gotta make him still as Baker splits the pair sixty
six fifty eight, little token full court pressure Carson Diykster
in now for coach Llen and he's founding Eli Wolf
As he crosses the tomline, Wolf up the right side, hesitation,
(01:29:55):
dribble goes up and won.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
You don't want to do that, Eric Kelly had say,
I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
I believe it.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
Nice move by the freshman Eli Wolf joined the contact
in Dykstra will send him to the free throw line
for a potential three point play.
Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
Well, that's been a storyline in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Eli Wolfe's minutes have been reduced because of foul trouble
and Rockford searching for offense.
Speaker 1 (01:30:14):
Baskom has stepped up. They need Wolf to do it,
and Wolf's doing it now Here.
Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
Late in the fourth quarter, Hosting and Dykster come out
with one forty one left to go.
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
Wolf at the line.
Speaker 3 (01:30:25):
He's got a quiet eight with battling foul trouble by
the way, Full highlights Tonight, Fox seventeen Blitz Thomas Cook
back in the studios, Fox seventeen News at ten, I'll
be talking to the winning side. Is Wolf gets the
second now he'll check out because the four personals coming
in blistone for defense for him, full core pressure now
No One back for Rockford Joey Miller to trigger the
(01:30:47):
inbounds sixty six to sixty one, lobbed to Daniels, no
one back.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Daniel's up ahead, shields off to Kuiper, but.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
Miss it follow up in good nice job by Fisher
to follow that one and put it up in hand.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
I'm not sure Daniels didn't do that on purpose. They
knew he had Fisher running behind to Kuiper.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
With a clear out, and now they're going to say
a travel by to Kuiper on the spin as he
kind of shook Daniels off. I thought I might call
him for a push on the off arm that time
against Daniels, But they say he traveled, so back to
the way. Kyle Kloff can't believe it. I don't think
I saw a travel there. But sixty eight sixty one
after that last bucket, And to your point, how about
(01:31:22):
Fisher with fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
Fisher's been outstanding. Yeah, it's been a team. That's what
you needed if you're Hudsonville, right to be in an
eighteen to one rock for a team like this and
they have won the game yet, but up seven with
eighty nine seconds left, he needed a bunch of contributors,
and yes, Daniels has been the catalyst with twenty seven,
but Hamlet Fisher have been outstanding. Joey Miller has been
kind of quiet as minutes have been reduced when he
(01:31:46):
had those three early fouls.
Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
He only has six points.
Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
But other guys are stepping up and Miller's done some
important things defensively rebounding, distributing.
Speaker 3 (01:31:56):
Files against Griffin, Bakery walks to other end hits. The
first they got gross with the foul by the way,
Tonight's wing, goosey fan of the game right here in Hudsonville.
Ko Vis, he's loving it his Eagles, trying to pull
off the win. Here against Rockford, he was going number
six and Cal scores that twenty five dollars gift Corcurtesy
Wing Doozy, thanks for listening to our broadcast. Col ko
Vis of Hudsonville, Tonight's wing, goozy fan of the game.
(01:32:18):
Hamlet checking out with the stoppage. Baker gain splits the peers.
He misses the second. Here we go back to the way,
bask him down the lane. Lots of contact, no call,
good box out by Dykstra. Now needs help, Joey Miller
throws it up hot a Baker and a foul gonna
be called against Lucas pitch, which Rockford's not gonna complain
about because they need to stop that clock. And even
(01:32:40):
though you send Hudsonville to the free throw line, you're
gonna need some misses here to help you out.
Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
One fifteen left to go, it's an eight point game.
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
You know, it's interesting a lot of times up three
possessions here late, you're gonna be less physical. I guess
the word I'm looking for when Rockford goes to the basket,
but Hudsonville three guys in there on Josh bask I
mean that's an opportunity.
Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
Maybe kick it out.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
I mean he's a freshman, but kick it out and
shoot a three.
Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
If you're Rockford, Griffin Baker was their hero, senior quarterback
for the football team that went to Ford Field, and
the finals hits them both there, makes it a ten
point advantage.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Thirty second time out. We'll keep it right here.
Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
Seventy one sixty one Eagles by ten with one p
fifteen left to go.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
I'm really looking forward to Thursday show on the Basketball Blitz. Right,
it's kind of almost like a Coaches show. We got
a bunch of fun guests coming up to kind of
break a sort of a district preview.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
Yes, Scott Soltzma, by the way, from just down the
road at Unity Christian High with that Division two district
at Catholic Central and the weird thing about that, Jay
you and I we get in a little conversation coven
a Christian who Unity Christian beat Union Christian only one
loss to date right now is not the number one
seed it would be coming a Christian with the MPR.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
Yeah, it's not head to head.
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
It's based on your opponent's winning percentage and your opponent's
opponents winning percentage, And it has nothing to do with
size of school, So it doesn't matter if you beat
her lost to a Division I school or a Division
four school.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
Covenants play.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
They just played North with Schigan last week who was
fourteen to zero and beat him.
Speaker 3 (01:34:07):
And Joel Visser speaking of a Rockford tie Greenville head
coach only one loss. We talked to him and of
course he's gonna be in the Rockford district with was
skiing and everyone else, Tripple trying by gross no good
rebound Hamlet and now Hudsonville's got to get across the timeline.
Rockford pressure full ninety four feet. Daniels throws it up
ahead Ostein now trying to save it. Hang on with
Eli Wolf and Rockford comes up with the steel.
Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
It's what they needed.
Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
And now foul to stop the clock by Joey Miller.
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
At Joey Miller's fourth. But it's just been an off
shooting night for Rockford. You have to give credit to
the Hudsonville defense. I mean we talked about at the top.
Hudsonville is known for their defense. I think they've defended
Rockford very well tonight, and the Rams has just been
a little off in their threes. I mean, they're a
good three point shooting team, but tonight they haven't made many.
Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
Yet to be beaten in the OK Red. If they
do fall tonight, they will not then clinch the OK
Red crown.
Speaker 1 (01:34:56):
But they're certainly in the driver's seat. But Jay, how
about this?
Speaker 3 (01:34:58):
Would you consider Rockford with a tough schedule that they
played eighteen game winning streak, right, they lost their very
first game to orch to Lake Saint Mary's. They're eighteen
to one as Gross misses the first one. I mean
impressive run for Kyle Cluff. All comers they have beaten,
including this Hutsonville team last month by two at Rockford.
Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Yeah, that game was fifty six to fifty four. This
game much higher scoring here with fifty three seconds to
go and now in eleven nine point Huttsville League.
Speaker 3 (01:35:30):
Griffin Baker, the back court needs help. Trap Gross who
just got the free throw, tried to save it. They
say it was on the end line. Good hustle by Dylan,
so Hudsonville will get it back with a possession, but
good pressure by Rockford. Nine point game, forty seven point
four seconds left Hudsonville after back to back losses trying
to snap that and always threw it into Hamlet who
couldn't control it, who was right near the end line
(01:35:52):
and out of bounds. Off the Eagles to be Rockford basketball.
And now substitutions again offense in defense out for Kyle
Cluff because the file situation, and to get some better
shooters in there.
Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
They get a lot bigger, don't they. Yeah they too.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
Baskom Pitch Baskom.
Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
Eagles twelve and five coming in in the corner, Eli
Wolf and a block going to be called. I thought Eli,
we thought about they called on Fisher and just what
you don't want if you're Eric Kellen. I tell you what,
these last two minutes for Eric over there have been painful. Yeah,
and he's still got forty three point two seconds left.
He knows they're not on the woods.
Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
Yet, they're not a three point three point the three
point shot. You still have a chance. It is tough
two shots the rest of the way for uz of
Hudson's got to inbound it and get across half court.
I think he can talk to him because do we
have someone that filed out. Yeah, I believe he two
fouls on Justin Fisher. That's a big loss for huts
of him. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:36:48):
By the way, stay with us as well tonight in
our discount or post game show, we'll play back for
you our J and H Family Stores Highlight of the Game,
brought to you by j H Family Stores. We mentioned
sixty plus locations across me one just down the street
here to serve you. JH Family Store stopping on the
way to your next game or on your way home.
A proud sponsor of our high school football and basketball
(01:37:08):
games of the Week. Again this season, we couldn't do
it without our sponsors, Folks and glad to bring you
this Tuesday Night Boys edition of the LMCU Game of
the Week. Eli Wolf, the freshman for Rockford at the
free throw line clock stop with forty three point two seconds.
Coming into the ballgame from Huntsville is Alex Armstrong, the
sophomore you mentioned. Fisher has filed out. He's a good
(01:37:30):
free throw shooter. Two to have out of the lineup.
Wolf's second one coming on the way for Eli and
boy Silkie smooth another lefty. There you go, Griffin Baker's
got to get the inbounds in does to Armstrong in
the corner, bounce pass over to Daniels. That's the guy
you want to have it with the handle. Now they
got to hurry up and get across the timeline and oh,
Armstrong trying to throw it ahead bailed out that time
(01:37:53):
with another reach in found the back court and I
think it was Isaac Poot.
Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
Now, let's Dylan grow was a kid.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
The play happened two feet from Kyle Cloff and he
does not agree with the official.
Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
He thought it was a clean deflection.
Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
And boy, they must have been in about eight and
a half nine seconds on that background, I was.
Speaker 3 (01:38:11):
Just gonna say, Hutsonville was in trouble. I thought Daniels
was gonna bring it up himself, and he kind of
stayed back, passed it back across the court and it
wasn't really open. But again, Hudsonville, let's see if they
can finish this thing with Alex Armstrong, a sophomore, at
the free throw line. In highlights of this one, we'll
talk to the winning side coach and the players in
and out of the first for Armstrong's second one upcoming
(01:38:34):
coming up tonight, Box seventeen News to ten make or miss.
Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Rockford's gonna have to shoot a three here. Now you're
down three possessions and you're inside forty seconds. I mean,
I think you got to take a three, especially and
they haven't shot it well tonight, but they have.
Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
A bunch of three point shooters. Oh and Armstrong the
lame violation.
Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
He knew it was going to be short stepped over,
so no good anyways, and Rockford will inbounce underneath the
Hudsonville basket, so they have to go the full length
to the floor.
Speaker 1 (01:38:58):
But thirty five point five left, it's a seven point game.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
You know Dylan Gross then had a very good shooting night,
but he's kind of their guy here. You can pick
and pop with pitch. Maybe you get Wolf coming off
a ball screen.
Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
Wolf nice crossover against Armstrong, beats him, scoop shot yes
and a quick foul bye. I should should say a
quick time out by the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
So Rockford they went to to get to two. They
got the quick two, so they make it a five
point game. But you're still down two possessions here. You're
gonna need more misses, right, Both teams obviously well into
the bonus here.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
So is that crazy? Is that happened in all four quarters?
I think so. I don't know if we're gonna see
that again. I know it.
Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
I mean it's one of those where crazy. So you
look at the leading scores. Jovon Daniels with twenty seven
one a night for him. Fisher was double digits. He
smiled out. But now you have a Hamlet with thirteen
to lead the way for Hudsonville. Bask him having a
nice game. He came on Strong, Eli Wolf's up to
thirteen all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
I know it.
Speaker 3 (01:39:56):
Well, last few right, he's got free throws, just got
the nice scoop shot laying there.
Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
And the more I see him play, I mean you
just he's he's He doesn't start, but like he finishes.
I always say that it's not about who starts, about
who finishes. Like Eli Wolf's the guy Kyle Kluff wants
on the floor at winning time.
Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
I want to thank Eric Elliott joined us in our
pregame show. Tonight's head coach on the boys side of Huntsonville.
Our Montel Construction Coach's corner. Fifteen years in the business,

and you can visit my home team Montel Construction. The
West Biskin Homan Guarden Show at De Boss Place coming
(01:40:37):
up February twenty seventh through March, second booth thirteen to
twenty five. Boy Rockford has everybody up with the pressure.
Gross Now double Teamy Miller. Let's see if Baker, remember
he's a quarterback, throws it deep or not, tunerneath the
basket gets it into Daniels. Daniels dribbling away from the
double team. Now bumped by Gross.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
And a really good play U until n all go
right and then they had Daniel's peel and you had
to get the ball Daniels because he's their best free
throw shooter.
Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
I was gonna say, this is the guy, the junior
their leading score at twenty seven points tonight, that you
want at the free throw line. Forty five percent shooter
from behind the arc. What a difference he's made every year,
just continues to grow his game. Seventy nine percent free
throw shooter for number one, Jovon Daniels on the way,
nothing but nine line on the first.
Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
So two possessions. If he makes this, it's three possessions
and that's gonna make it pretty tough. With just twenty
two seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
Left, and as Knitzel says, this is winning time. This
is money time where you can add points to your total,
but put the game away as your point guard. Jovan
hits them both twenty nine to lead all scores.
Speaker 2 (01:41:44):
Eli.
Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
Wolf, how about the young talent this game we've seen
Wolf now pull up three. Yes, Eli with a triple.
That's fifty dollars to kids Food Basket. Courtesy of LMCU
game not done yet. Four point games seventy three sixty nine,
fifteen point four seconds left and we'll keep it right here.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Hey, Rockford probably in fifteen seconds has two possessions left right,
and they're down two possessions here, So even if you
follow and they make both, you're still only down six.
But you have to foul now, I mean you can't.
Speaker 1 (01:42:13):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
You got to conserve the time.
Speaker 1 (01:42:15):
Either's steal the.
Speaker 2 (01:42:16):
Inbounds pass or you foul because fifteen point four seconds
you gotta find a way to not let Daniels get
it on this inbound.
Speaker 1 (01:42:23):
By the way, Joe Aeron doing a great job.
Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
It came with us tonight, our executive producer Extraordinariy and
in studio host. Thank you Joe, as we also want
to mention off of what you said earlier. This Thursday night,
we will have an MCU basketball Blitz normal time, but
it's gonna be a shorten show because the Grand Raftids
Rise volleyball with the pregame coverage at six forty five.
But we also talked to Kyle Phelps Mickey Phelps son,
who has now done a great job with the Hollow
(01:42:46):
Christian Girls and they will play here against the Hudsonville Girls,
who lost by a dozen of Rockford as one of
the games at the end of the regular season. That's
gonna be a heck of a matchupeah I February twenty seven.
Of course they're playing Zealand East tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
Nowle Christian has a two game lead and be Okay Black,
so they're in a really good spot, but a lot
of tough opponents in that Okay Black and the Ruins
try to close out a conference championship. Fourteen and two.
Speaker 3 (01:43:07):
Kyle Phelps's club seven and one atop the Okay Black standings.
Gripp and Baker now gets the time out and Rockford
fans thought he stepped over the end line for the
second time out.
Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
We'll keep it right here. I thought they wanted to travel,
but he's allowed to move because it was off a
made shot.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
Yeah, they thought he's stopped. I don't think he did
step over. It just kind of looked like it because
he was going forward. But nonetheless they were looking for
the call.
Speaker 2 (01:43:31):
Nobody has a timeout left, so that was the final
time out for Hudsonville. Rockford's used all theirs, so that's
important to mention it. Absolutely no timeouts left So next.
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
Tuesday night another boys edition with Jay and Buck Gino
at the home of the Sailors Northview and South Christian
want to be a great rematch.
Speaker 1 (01:43:50):
That was a shot at the buzzer to win it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
And then in two weeks our final regular season game
on a Tuesday night, West Catholic, who I saw the
other night against South Christian lose it home, just their
second loss, and they'll be at the home of the
Big Reds and miskig And and will muskeg and get
their two star guards back before the end of the
regular season for that one.
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
Well, the Moskiing girls playing Caledonia right now. Those games
always seem to come right down to the wire. Reach
in foul by the Kuiper against Daniels.
Speaker 3 (01:44:18):
Great job by Hudsonville running screen action for their junior
to get the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
He just hit the last two free throws.
Speaker 3 (01:44:25):
But as Jay mentioned, even if he gets them both,
it's still a two possession game.
Speaker 1 (01:44:30):
And they did a good job.
Speaker 3 (01:44:31):
Not much time off the clock, just fourty just a
little over one second running off the clock, fourteen seconds
left in regulation. Joe Bonn Daniels nothing but nylon of
the first as Hudsonville clears the lane. Now they're gonna
put two guys in there, and Miller and Hamley gotta
be careful though, not to commit a foul.
Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
That's what you don't want to do if you're Hudsonville.
You want to let the time run.
Speaker 3 (01:44:55):
Daniels to make it a six point advantagity does how
about that thirty one for the junie Joe Bonn Daniels
in a big game like this with Rockford just one
loss coming in Eli Wolf at the time, I can't
get off.
Speaker 1 (01:45:06):
Good defense by Daniels.
Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
Now a step in Steel Joe bon back the other way,
and why is they just gonna dribble it out to
Kiper lets him go and the Eagles of Hudsonville pull
out the victory here against their ore trival the Rams
of Rockford seventy five sixty nine in the final.
Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
Well, really good job by Daniels on defense. He didn't
allow Wolf to shoot the three there at the end.
Speaker 1 (01:45:28):
He scores thirty one points.
Speaker 2 (01:45:29):
Excellent game from the junior and the streak is extended
now thirteen to the last nineteen Rockford Hudsonville boys varsity
games decided by six points or less. These games just
never disappoint and now Hudsonville's still alive in this OK
Red race, one game behind.
Speaker 1 (01:45:46):
Hutsonville to to play Rockford.
Speaker 3 (01:45:49):
Off to a great start in that opening quarter, led
twenty four to seven after the first eight minutes, never led,
I should say, never were down in this game. And
what win by Hutsonville is they win it by six
seventy five sixty nine of the final We got a
lot to get to and discuss. We'll do that coming
up with a discount door postgame show after this time out.
(01:46:11):
But Hutsonville wins it here at home. We'll come back
and go through the individual scoring somebody this one, plus
our offense and defensive player of the games, and we'll
play back for you our J and HS Family Stores
highlight of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
That's all coming up.

win by the Eagles seventy five sixty nine. They get
it done over a Rockford, handing the Rams just their
second loss of the season. Rockford now eight and two
overall seven and one, still a top the ok RED.
Hudsonville proves a thirteen and five with a win and
six and two in ok RED play and still in
the race right now. But let's take you through the
(01:50:41):
MKD Fuder Holmes individual scoring summary of this one. And
how about number one Chovon Daniels, the junior with a
big game for Hudsonville tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:50:49):
Yeah, Javon Daniels leads all scores tonight with thirty one
for Hudsonville. Justin Fisher who followed out of this game
but had fifteen for the senior in Isaiah Hamlet with
thirteen points points for the Eagles. Rockford was led by
freshman Eli Wolf sixteen points, Jake Bascomb had fifteen, Lucas
Pitch had.
Speaker 3 (01:51:07):
Nine, and again for Rockford, they'll regroup and get back
after it. But Hudsonville just kind of had the number
tonight of Rockford and they got off to that great
start j twenty four to seven Hudsonville. After one, they
led by eight thirty five twenty seven and a half
fifty four forty three. The lead jumped down to eleven

Hudsonville wins it over Rockford on the boys side, on
the girls side earlier in this doubleheader, Rockford claiming the
outright ok Red crown for Brad Wilson and his Rams
as day beat Hutsonville and a good ball game as
well by a dozen fifty seven to forty five. And
there's still just one loss on the season for the
Lady Rams. But as we go through this one, it's
timed out of Selector Uptown Cheapskate Offensive Player the Game.

It's brought to you by Uptown Cheapskate with locations in Granville,

There was one guy that stood out of the score book,
but let's see if you're gonna go with them tonight,
because as you alluded to, there were a lot of
great performances on both sides.
Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
Yeah, I thought. I thought that Jake Bascom and Eli
Wolf both played really well offensively for Rockford, and obviously
Isaiah Hamlet was really good for Hudsonville and Justin Fisher.
But we have to go Javon Daniels. It's our offensive
player game. Thirty one points. Not just scoring, not just
shooting the three and not just getting into the bucket,
but he set up his teammates.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Jevon Daniels number one, our offensive player the game. Yeah,
thirty one points. Congratulations that junior. Really impressive tonight, and
he'll score a twenty five dollars gift card and do
some shopping on us just down the road in Grandville
at Uptown cheapskate our Montel Construction Defensive Player of the Game.
Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
There were some great defensive efforts. But how about Lucas Pitch.
Speaker 3 (01:55:47):
This senior did a lot of different things tonight when
it wasn't a great shooting night for Kyle Kloff and
the Rams, And I'm gonna go with the senior number ten,
Lucas Pitch.
Speaker 1 (01:55:54):
I was impressed with him tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:55:56):
He did a lot of different things offensively and defensively,
but some big blocks and some big defensive an offensive
rebounds for the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:56:02):
Yeah, and he's asked to play a lot of different
positions and he does it so well. And I thought
he played really good defense inside, outside, whatever Coach Cluff
asked him to do.
Speaker 1 (01:56:11):
Lucas Fish did a really nice job for rock Fort
of the defensive end.
Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Number ten senior for Rockford Armonte Construction Defensive Player of
the Game. Cal Vis congratulations from Hutsonville. He was called
a six our wing Doosey fan.
Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
Of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
And we got to wrap things up with the J
and H Family Stores highlight of the game. We certainly
had a few of those, some dunks mixed in with
some threes, But how about this deep three that got
Hudsonville rowland by mister Fisher. Justin Fisher, who finished with
fifteen points tonight. Fish with that last bucket, by the way,
has six. Secondly he scored this we get a mission.
Speaker 2 (01:56:40):
Right side knocks down another triple. He's a good four
feet behind the arc, right in front of the rams bench.
Speaker 1 (01:56:46):
Yeah, Justin Fishers.
Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
We talked about it getting more shots one way or
the other. Even if it's just lake clock step back.
Speaker 3 (01:56:53):
And take it.
Speaker 2 (01:56:54):
He can make up.
Speaker 3 (01:56:55):
There's our j and H Family Stores highlight of the game. Congratulations.
See you're Justin Fisher filling up fifteen points to help
the cause tonight for the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
That's brought to you by Jane H's Family Stores.
Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Well, as we wrap things up, we want to thank
Ben Farkas and Casey Glass from the Athletic Department. Here
a Hudsonville taking care of us with our broadcast tonight.
This beautiful Hudsonville field. Hows you get a chance maybe
during the tournament or to see a game here at Hudsonville,
you're gonna want to do that. It is beautiful. I
think just a second season that it's been opened. And
we also want to thank of course both coaches Eric
Elliott and Kyle Cloff helping us with our prep tonight
(01:57:28):
with game stats and everything for our broadcast and Jay
looking forward to next Tuesday night for you guys, I'll
be down to the Sunshine State. But another good one
like we expected this one tonight to be, and it
certainly was with north View at South Christian next two.
Speaker 2 (01:57:40):
Yeah, I hope you enjoy the warm weather. We're gonna
get dumped on with snow here so you'll get to
avoid that. Not my favorite, but I just think this
is a really good win for Hudsonville, right for Eric
Elliott and Crewe, because this is not the time of
the year you want to be stumbling and they'd lost
two in a row coming in. But to play well tonight,
get out to that early lead, it gets a really
good rock for a team and hold him off the
all way. That's got to be a big confidence booster
for the Eagle. And if you're Rockford, I think you
(01:58:01):
have to be a little concerned. Right against East Kentwood,
they found a way to come back and win. He's
kent With's young, still learning how to win. They got
behind tonight against a really experienced really good Hudsonville team
and they could never overcome it.
Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
Great job partner tonight and enjoy the play by play
