The MHSAA Winter Sports season is here. Rick for three accident,
that which means the action is heating up inside?

call of tonight's action. Here's Brett Pakita and Chason Hutton.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
We've got brackets.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
The boys basketball State tournament starts in just six days
and the brackets are out, but we've got some unfinished
business to take care of first, and that's the matter
of the ok Gold Championship. This is the Lmculu High
School Basketball Game of the Week and it's Chason Hutting
along with Buck Gino tonight as Brett Pakita has the
evening off in Buck Northview and South Christian. It was

(01:38):
a great matchup in January. The Wildcats, virtue of their
two point win in that matchup with the Sailors, have
already clinched at least to share the OKA Gold title.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
They are ten and one in conference play.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Tonight they finish Okay goldplay excuse me, eleven and zero
in conference play. South Christian is nine and one, so
the Sailors need a win to pull even here, and
then a win Friday night agains Whalen they would share
the title with Northfield. Wildcats get it done tonight, they're
outright league champion, and boy, if the matchup of January
is any education, we're in for a great game tonight.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Well, we wanted to do that one, but the weather
pushed us out and then we're like, okay, we've got
to do the rematch. Even if Brett's gonna be in
Florida being very warm, and we're not gonna be very warm,
but we had to.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Be here if it could be with you, Jason. But yeah,
you're right.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
I mean you look at these two teams, and boy,
that game went right down to the wire. They had
two days off. I think that may have played a
little bit of a part in the scoring. It's a
little bit lower than I thought. But now you have
this matchup here, and boy, I mean, what can you ask.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
More of a conference championship game.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Also, it's gonna get ready for a tournament time because
these teams are gonna go. They're separate ways in Division
one and Division two, but just a great tournament primer
for both these teams.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
And like you said, a lot at stake.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Well we'll get into the district draws for both of
these team will each host districts starting next week, and
both have eyes on making deep runs. But this huge game,
and you look at the star power in this matchup.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You got sixteen and four against sixteen and four.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
You've got Carson Biss for South Christian career high thirty
eight at Northview in January, and look at Northview cam
Ryan's three D one offers including Iowa State, he had
thirty one in that matchup. And what about Brady Schwartz,
You only had thirteen, well below his average, but he
had the game winner to beat South Christian.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I mean, you can't ask for more in terms of
star power on the floor tonight.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Well, you talk about Brady Schwartz in the game winner
and a note that you made, I'm gonna steal it
because it's right now relevant. But they hit a shot
at the buzzer in that game of the second, in.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
The third, and of course the fourth quarter.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
So I mean South Christian, I mean, if you take
away those possessions, South Christian.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Was gonna win that game.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
But they gave up last second shots on three straight quarters.
So you know that's gonna sit in there crawl tonight
and Taylor Johnson's gonna tell my guys, we gotta play
eight minutes. That seven fifty seven, that seven fifty eight,
but eight minutes. But man, Brady Schwartz, as you mentioned,
twenty five points game.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Cam Ryan's twenty three.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
But I think selth Christian with more of the balance,
we're gonna see that come out to play today. They're
gonna have to shut down one of the two. They
kind of picked on Brady the first time. Are they
gonna switch to cam or are they gonna still key
on Brady Schwartz try to take him out of the game.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
It's gonna be fun to watch, follow and figure out
how it all on fold South Christian hosting Northview, a
battle of two of the state's best tonight with the
Okay Gold title somewhat if for grabs, nor if he's
already got at least to share, trying to get it
out right. This is the J and H Family Stores

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Northview and South Christian have not played often in boys
basketball in recent years, but when they have played, boy
have they been competitive. They played at the Invite a
few years back. That was a two points Northview win
in December of twenty twenty two, forty eight forty six.
And of course they played about four weeks ago at

(07:57):
Northview again the Wildcats at two point winner fifty seven
fifty five. Jason Hutt and Buck Gino back court side
at Sailors Gymnasium, South Christian hosting North View on a
huge game. As we start the final week of the
regular season in boys basketball, and Buck, let's talk.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
About the district tournaments a little bit. Both of these
teams will be hosting and both of these teams will
be number one seats.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
The seeds are out, the brackets are out. South Christian
is going to await right here on their home court
the winner of either Kelloggsville or West Michigan Aviation Academy.
The other side of that bracket contains God on Heights,
Screnderup It's Christian and Grand River Prep. The potential of
a arrival is shown on the district final between South
Christian and garn Up. It's Christian and on the other

(08:38):
side Northview D one District seven. They'll be the host
and they're gonna await the winner v scrand Rapids and
Lowell in the semi final, while Forstll's Northern's the two seed,
they await the Forests Central.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Growing up at Junior.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Winner, I would call the Wildcats I have your favorite.
I would call the Sailors, I have your favorite. Although
they did lose a Grand Up Its Christian on this
floor early in the season, that was a long time ago,
and those teams seem to have been going in the
different direction. How importing is a game like to But
these two teams can get ready for that well.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
I mean you talk about, you know, both teams being
in different divisions, but this game means a lot in
the moment, but it also can prepare them. You look
at the districts and I think Grand Rapids Christian having
the three seed is an advantage we talked about a
little bit before off air. They get to play a
game and soulth Thrust has gonna sit and watch. They
get to play an early game kind of warm up.

(09:24):
They should be able to beat Grand River Prep rather handily,
and then they're gonna be warmed up and ready, whereas
South Christian's gonna have to sit and wait and they're
gonna have a couple of days off, and North View
the same thing. They're gonna have to take a couple
of days off while they wait to see who they play.
But I think both of them are still gonna be
heavy favorites going into that. It just gonna depend on

(09:46):
what teams show up. And also, like you said, even
though they lost a Grand Rapids Christian curving the season,
football team had made a long run, as they're familiar
with around in these parts, made a long football run,
and we know how that can affect the basketball team
because there's a lot of same names on this roster
that are on the football team, so that came into

(10:07):
play as well. I think they should be able to
both advance in the regional round, where then against really
tough because you look at the districts around them. Man,
just some very very good teams that line up in
the regional round.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
It's gonna be fun, there's no question about that. And
it starts in February this year. In fact, in just
six days, the state tournament will kick off in boys
high school basketball around the state of Michigan. We got
two incredible pedigrees when you look at these two programs.
It was just twenty twenty two with Kyler Vanderjack and
company that Northview made it to the Division one state
semifinals and the Breslan Center, and just two years ago

(10:42):
at South Christian with then first year head coach Taylor Johnson,
played in the Division two state championship game. Of course,
they had to play that game and much of their
tournament run without then sophomore Carson Fiss, who was injured
in the regional against Hamilton, and they still got to
the state championship game in Division two with player like
Jake Vermass and Jake Dhan. All Right, Buck Geno, let's

(11:03):
get to our Vanderlin home improvement keys to tonight's contest
A big one Northview and South Christian.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Well, I think I'm gonna start with Northview. You look
at their team stats, and of course you'll get Swartz
and Ryans, but I think it's gonna be they gotta
find a third option. They have to have somebody show
up tonight because, as you mentioned, Brady in the first
game only had thirteen points.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Somebody's gotta step up.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Somebody's guys get in the double digit somebody's gotta get
some big boards.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Who's that going to be.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
That's gonna be the key for them because they want
to stay competitive with this South Christian team.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Somebody's gonna have to step up from there.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
And if you're South Christian, you don't want this to
become a free throw shooting contest because if you look
at the percentages, mostly under seventy percent except.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
For Plune who's at eighty three.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
So you really want to make sure that you're getting
all the maximum points in your possessions. That's a kind
of a weak spot for South Christians at the free
throw line. So if it comes down to free throws,
that could be a big factor.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Sure gonna be interesting tonight.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Northview and South Christian The Wildcats have already wrapped up
at least a share of the Okay Gold title, South
Christian trying to share it. A win tonight would pull
them even in the lost column. This is Northview's final
Okay Gold game. They will close out the regular season
Friday night against Grand Rapids Christian, an old Okay White rivalry.

(12:44):
They used to battle for the Oka White title the
last couple of years, but of course realignment the Okay
Conference this year, That'll be a non conference game on
Friday night.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Grandfits Christian is still in the Okay White.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
The ok White's already been decided as Grand Rapids Catholic
Central has won that outright. That's nine straight basketball conference
championships for the Cougars. For South Christian, they would have
to win tonight and then beat Whyland on Friday night
and they would share the title with North View.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
We look around the Okay Conference.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Rockford has won the Okay Red thanks to their win
over Grandville on Friday night. The ok Black has gone
outright to Miskegan. The Big Reds still unblemished at conference
play despite being without the injured James Martin for most
of the second half of the season. Still looking for
champions and the ok Black United Christian was upset last
Friday night by Hamilton.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
With Trader still in firm control.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Just need one more win this week with two games
to wrap it up, and the Okay Silver is gonna
come right down to it because Godwin Heights and Fruitport
are tied for first place with two games to play,
and they do not play each other this week, so
they could share it or we'll see what happens, because
there's a lot of parody in that.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Okay Silver conference.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
But we know the Okay Gold is good, it's deep, and
the two best teams are squaring off tonight here at
Sailors Gymnasium. That's Northview and South Christian and it is
the LMS see You Basketball Game of the Week Boys edition.
Jason and Buck Gina, We're gonna step aside one final
time on the jn H Pregame Show. JH Family Stores
Pregame Show will come back with starting lineups and tip

(14:12):
off right after this. Nine to six won the game.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Jason and Buck.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Gino back at South Christian High School, the Sailors getting
set to host Northview boys basketball Okay Goal Division battle.
Wildcats already wrapping up at least a share of the
conference championship. They are a perfect eleven to oher in
conference play entering tonight South Christian at nine and one
alone in second place, and can pull even in the
lost column if they can avenge their loss from January

(14:49):
twenty third at nor IFEW fifty seven fifty five. The
Wildcats win on a bucket by Brady Schwartz in the
final seconds.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Thirty eight points for Carson Bison that night, one for
cam Riyans.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Let's take a look at tonight's starting lineups, brought to
you by sparting you. First, for the visiting Wildcats of Northview,
starting at point guard, sophomore Anthony Willis also starting for
Northview junior number zero cam Ryans, senior number three Brady Sports,
senior number four Jake Johnson, and sophomore number twelve Izzy Htibu.

(15:24):
For South Christian, they will start at point guard number
eleven Carson VISs the wings senior Nolan Thackler and senior
Caleb Plune upfront. Two more seniors Davis Kemper stretched for
and Ike Scrotenbor in the middle. Sporting you you think it,
they'll link it and they have what you need to
look your best. Check out their gear and inventory online

(15:46):
at Sporting the Letter you dot com.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Or they are on eighty.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Fourth Street, just east of US one thirty one. The
opening tip goes out of bounds and it will be
Northview's basketball. As we are just underway in the Oky
Gold South Christian played a lot of zone defense against
Northview back in January.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
They'll start in a zone here tonight.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Anthony Willis, the sophomore point guard, works out top, kicking
it to Cam Ryan's and getting it back. Now Brady
Schwartz goes high post to Izzy Hititibu. Tibu kicks it
back out. Ryan's has it on the right wing. Thirty
seconds since, still score less. Underneath, they go to Hitibu.
Ball is loose and Ike Rotenbor picks it up for

(16:26):
South and the zone works.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
On the first possession.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
North View, they're just trying to pass around.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
You got a little bit, I guess two pass happy there,
t Boo A couple of times looked like an open
shot fifteen out.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Just didn't want to take it.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
And we look at how Northview is going to defense South.
They're going to go Izzy Hitibu on Carson VISs. This
gave it up, got it back, and then had a
shot blocked as he got to the rim. Now Parker
Schwartz in transition history is well short and air ball
rebounded by Davis Kepper, and here come the Sailors, still scoreless.
One minute in south with their second possession, he'll face

(17:01):
Northew's Manna Man again. It's hit Tibou checking this visc
is it up to Kemper. Kemper at six ' seven
can shoot the three, puts it on the deck, lost it,
got it back, kicks it to vis head and shoulders
fake for Vis who drives.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Shot is up in good car. SAPIs the left. He
goes right and he.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Gets the Sailors on the board. Here comes to Brady
Schwartz the other way quickly. Schwartz's shot won't go. Scroton
Boar bothered it. Scroton Boor's got the rebound. Here comes South,
this right wing to Kemper. Kemper wants to drive left.
Shot is up, no good, good defense that time from
Jake Johnson Swartz with the board.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Here comes North.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
If you're looking for the first points, cam Ryan's tough
to the basket. His shot is up and good, and
we are tied at two.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Six fourteen to play opening quarter.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
A little bit of.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
A fanatic pace to start this won, both teams trying
to beat each other down the floor.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Now with the defense set up.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
A lot of talking about shot clockned in high school basketball,
got shot clock need in the first two minutes of
this game. Love the way it starts. Vis for three
on the right wing, and that is true.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Carson VISs has all five South Christian points and the Sailors.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
Lead by three. Fifty bucks for Kids Food Basket. Carson
VISs opening the checkbook early.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
South settles back into that two to three zone. Anthony
Willis nice feet inside for Hitibu Fatibo though double team
and lost it. Ike scrotenbor active early underneath, and the
Sailors come the other way with a ball in a
three point lead.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
A Tibu exasperated to look at coach David Chana, but boy,
he's had a couple of mishandles early.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Carson Wis for three again and he's good. Carson Wis
makes three straight shot, He's got eight. That's another fifty
dollars for kid Food Basket from LMCU. It's eight to
South Christian with all.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
The touchdowns and three pointers at Carson. They're gonna have
a Carson VISs wing at kids food basket at some
point because that guy has made a lot of donations.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Both on the football field and the hardwood.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Here goes Anthony Willis driving to the basket.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Shot won't go, No One, Fackler El's a long rebound,
excellent take by Willis, just couldn't get the shot to go.
And you talked about needing a third scorer. Willis is
certainly a candidate for that.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Right now, North who just looks a little bit disjointed,
the offense not clicking for them taking contested shots, need
to be a little bit more patient, like you said,
Nina Sean Clock. But I'm sure David China would like
them to get a little bit better look on their
end of the floor.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
This for three. This one's off and Jake Johnson's got
the rebound.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
You that's what the young kids call a heat check.
And we found out.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
He's human after.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
So here comes Northview, now South Christian staying in the zone.
Brady Schwartz goes high post to hititibu the tipa to
Jake Johnson back out to Cam Ryan's Ryan's drives on
this and we're gonna have a foul called on Carson Thiss.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
One official was gonna signal joke, but he was overruled.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
It's a foul on this, and they're gonna say it
was on the floor, so it'll be Northview ball out
of bounds.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
The coach, Taylor Johnson's like, all right, can we maybe
talk about that. Can we get together and maybe reverse
to D But it's a tough one to go on
Carson early.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
In bounds.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
That comes to Brady's Schwartz swarts to Ryan's. Ryan's puts
it on the floor, chucked by Plume. Nice pass for
Hitibu Tatifu, block by scroton Boar. The South student section
love it. Here comes Carson miss Thiss behind the back dribble.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
To Ike Scrutboard for the dunk, and that's gonna, of
course a David chan Of time out. Halfway through the
first quarter, it's ten two South Christian and Ike Scrotenboor
has been active on both ends. The big dunk sends
us to a break. We'll step aside and be back
right after this. This is the LMCU.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
High School basketball Game of the Week. South Christian leads
Northview ten to two.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
I can hear it very very fate like barely.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Big Sailors run as the whole team out early on
Northview South Christian with a ten to two lead. Carson
vis Bucchino scored the first eight points. Had a nice
assist there.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
But I'll tell you what. Ike Scrotenry who had the dunk.
I think he's been really good on both ends.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Well defensively, very active and shutting it down to the
paint that time. The block created the transition chance and
he finished off with the dunk.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Now, nor if you've got to figure out a way
to solve this South Christian zone. Cam Ryan's on the
left wing to Anthony Willis. Swartz comes to get it
between the rings. We're at three forty to play.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
First quarter.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
It's a very active zone. It's not very passive.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
They've got their challenging at the top, shutting off the
passing lanes.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Northey just has not been able to figure it out.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Willis has it on the left wing, gives it up
to Brady Schwartz. Longer possession this time for Northview. They
run cam Ryan's to the high post, but its Brady
Swartz who shoots the three, and that is good and
Northview is within five on the Brady Schwartz bucket.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Well, Tyris Thomas is gonna be checking in for Northview.
Interesting to see who he takes out of the lineup.
Coach China has to be a little bit more pleased
after that three by Brady Swartz.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
We've already seen Jack van Proyen the junior check into
the game for the first time for Jake Johnson for Northview.
Still the same starting five for South who has the
ball and the lead ten to five.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Davis Kepper gets a high screen.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Now he works on Anthony Willis, kicks left wing, the
Fackler facler inside the scrouton bore Scruton, bore up and
in four for Ike in South Christians lead is twelve five.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
And then point coming in just got fronted there, didn't
have any position.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Cam Ryan's shot won't go and we've got is he
hittibu on the glass. But they're gonna called.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Basket interference yep, and it'll be South Christian basketball.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Don't see that one very often, but Paul clearly in
the cylinder and it'll be whistled dad.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
And now another turnover for Northview.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
A lot of turnovers for Northview early on that's contributed to.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
The twelve five league.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
So Tyrus Thomas came into the game for Northview as
is he hit. Tibu checks out in for South Christian
Caleb Krishell the junior and Ty.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Brinks the senior. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Brinks has been playing well off the south bench. I'd
say the last eight to ten games for the Sailors.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
It's interesting that Scroton Bore goes out, but boy, look
at that cold blooded Davis templetons.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Foot seven Davis Kemper drills.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
The three from the corner souths lead is its largest
of the nine at ten fifteen to five. We've got
another fifty dollars for kids food basket donated by LMCU
and we're at two minutes to play. In the opening quarter, Norfew,
Anthony Willis drives, kicks the Van proy and Van Proyen
shot is up and good excellent job by Willis setting
that up.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
Yeah, that's how you gotta beat that zone down low,
get on the baseline, get positioned in the leverage underneath
the baskets.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Great moon by Van Proyan, this for three on the
right wing.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Carson VISs has three threes and eleven points in South
Christian's up eleven.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
We're under two to play in the opening quarter.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
I say it all the time during football season, Jason.
I don't know what you want the defense to do,
but if you have suggestions, I'm sure David will take them.
Coach Chuna, because he's just knocking them down from everywhere, well.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
You're gonna have to make him work for it. Three
on the way for Willis is short, long rebound comes
out to Plune.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Can't do that.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
South won't run, but the Sailors having eleven point lead
this to Baschelle on the left wing.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
And Davis Kemper now gets it on the right wing.
North View in their patented demand a man defense, Keper
wanting to drive on Thomas now switch off to Swartz.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
They try to go to Brinks inside. Nice job by
Van Preyen. It's out of bounds and it will go
to north View.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Yeah, just never really got positioned there. Tried the entry feed,
good defense there by north View, and now they're gonna
try to make it with a minutes to go in
the court and try to get into this lead that
South Christian.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Has built, so Cameron's will walk it up.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
As we go under one minute to play opening quarter,
the deficit is eleven for Northview. Ryan's on the left
wing wants to drive, gets in the lane, flips it
up in and.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Out, won't go rebound out of bounds. Gonna go to
South Christian, and we remind you that tonight's first quarter
is brought to you by Straight Line Fence, a fencing
company in Grand Rapids with a personal touch, offering both
residential and commercial fencing projects. Called today for your free
estimate at six six four four three two five to
five zero or visit straight Line Fences dot com.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Coach Chailad's gonna ask when they can put offence at
the three point line, so the Carsons has.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
To shoot over it.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Well is he atibas checked back in the game and
he's gonna face guard fist who does come to get
it near the timeline. This goes to work look for
a screen. Northview doubles and he gives it up to
Bouschelle Mischelle working.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
On Thomas Drive's left. Cam Ryans comes in for the steal.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Ryan's in the open court all by himself for the
dunk and.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
It's an eighteen to nine ball game. The pressure defense
that time creates the easy chance. Now they're back on
it and South Christian gets it down low.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Davis Kepper drives baseline head nowhere to go, step out
of bounds, it'll be a turnover.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
That's three straight turnovers for South Christian. Northview gets it back.

Speaker 5 (26:51):
Well, guy's gotta be a little bit patient there. Don't
have to get it back right away. Got a nine
point lead and they just tried to bite off a
little bit more than they can chew there.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
They turned the ball.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Over ten seconds left in the opening quarter. South Christian eighteen,
Northview nine.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Wildcats lived down on their own basket and even to
go the link to the court, they get it under
Ryan's Ryan's cross the timeline with six and South with
three fouls to give, will give one there. Austin Burgess,
the sophomore, came in to give that ballo ut.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
That's a tough one to give because he gave it
right out of his own jaw thig cam Ryan's driving
in there and Burgess took the bront of it.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
But an easy blocking call.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
So Northview will trigger with five points six seconds to go,
but South, should they choose to use them, still has
two more fouls to give.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Willis win bound.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Gets it to swartz Swarts double teamed gonna let a
deep three go. It's no good and the clock will
expire after one.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Our score.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
South Christian eighteen, north View nine. This is the LMCU
High School Basketball.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Game of the Week on ninety six.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
The game.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
We'll be back right after this. There's not a buck
gino back on the UNCU high School Basketball Game of
the Week.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
South Christian leading North after eight minutes, eighteen to nine,
and the Sailors get the ball to start quarter number two.
Davis keperkicks to Scruton Bore for three, and that's good.
If Mike Screwtonbore can make threes, I don't know how
you defend this team.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
I mean, if they're all gonna hit threes, I mean,
it's it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Be a long night for the Wildcats for sure.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Here comes Northview. South stays in the zone.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
Hatibu got it inside but fell to the ground and traveled.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
That's a turnover back to the Sailors.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
And Tibu's having a rough night.

Speaker 5 (28:48):
I mean he's just had several entry passes and just
has not had a good night on the offensive end.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Well, he got a couple of dunks in the first
meeting courtesy of Anthony Willis who really penetrated the zone
and dish so far. Northew choosing to attack the zone
with the pass and not the dribble. Nolan Fackler backs
his way in, can't get the shots to go, but
he's folloled and we'll get our first free throws in
the night. Thirty eight seconds into the second quarter will
be the senior Nolan Thackler going to the charity strike.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
Well, and that's Northby was first foul. They didn't even
have one in the first quarter. Sal Krishan only had
what three, so officials won let them.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Play Fackler misses the first we had five three point
field goals made in the first quarter. We've since had
a sixth here in the second. We had fourteen threes
made last Tuesday night when Hudsonville beat Rockford. That was
seven hundred dollars donated the kids food basket, so exactly
four thousand dollars donated entering tonight, but already an extra

(29:47):
three hundred and we're early.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, and I don't think South, Christian's gonna slow down.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
Fackler missed them both. Northew with the board. Ryan's comes
back the other way, he misses a three. Here comes
South now, Carson Fiss leads for Facktler. Fackler drives baseline,
nearly lost it. Throw it back out to this vis
for three.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Good again. Carson Fiss is feeling it. He's got fourteen
and South is up twenty four to nine. A minute
into the second quarter.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
They serve steak at kids Food Basket because they're gonna
be able to afford it if Carson Miss keeps hitting
these threes.

Speaker 4 (30:20):
Carson Fiss has four threes. We've played nine minutes of
this game. He's got fourteen. He had a career high
thirty eight at Northview in January.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Swartz for a deep three. That's just short.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
Cam Ryan's with the rebound, good and a fowl. And
that's a way to attack the zone is to offensive rebo.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
That's one way you can definitely get extra looks. Is
you gotta get on the glass that time. Cam Ryan's
goes in and gets the hoop and the foul.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
But boy, I mean, they're just gonna have to figure
out a way to.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
I mean, I know they've got some offensive things to fix,
but I mean, right now, they just have to figure
out a way to derail the Sailors offense, which is
firing on all cylinders.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Well, big news here though, Buck that foul was called
on Carson vs. That is his second with six thirty
five to play in the second quarter. So we's got
fourteen points and two fouls.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
We'll see how Taylor Johnson will play this one.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Bryan's misses the free throw, so it remains a thirteen
point game at twenty four to eleven. If this stays
on the floor with two fouls, he's got the ball
driving but head t Boo, the sophomore excellent leaping ability
and long arms blocks the shot of this here comes
cam Ryans takes the contact shot up, won't go and
Davis Kepper has the rebound.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
This now ahead of everybody, will dunk.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
It sixteen for Carson fis four to threes in a
dunk in Southfleet is fifteen to twenty six to eleven.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
That's one way to make sure that you don't get
your shot blocked is just go up and flush it.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
You might have to leave him on the floor with
three fouls at this point.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
I mean, he's I'd be real careful, though he does
have to be careful.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Cam Ryans gets the feet.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Underneath, can't get the shot to go, Vi with the
board kicks it off the factler here comes South looking
to build on their fifteen point lead, but it's Anthony
Willis with the steal. Willis now with numbers to Swartz.
Swarts will lay it up and end Well.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
You could hear the bench maybe in our mics are
yelling at Carson, no foul, and he just lets that
one go because he knows he can't pick up a third.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Now another steal, Swartz ties up kemper Possessionarro will go
to north View.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I'll tell you what South Christians either're turning it over
and they're scoring.

Speaker 5 (32:33):
Yeah, I mean it's there's something happening every possession, sometimes good,
most of the time good. But like you said, with
the turnovers, sometimes bad. But with a thirteen point lead,
I know that coach Johnson probably do just want him
getting a little bit too loose, wants to curb those
turnovers because a team like North you can get back.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Into the game very quickly.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Or remember they had thirty three points in the first
three quarters of the game at North in January, they
have twenty six and we have five fifteen still to play.
In the second quarter Northview, with possession down thirteen, the
Tibu gets the feed inside from Willis kicks it back
out to Willis.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Willis for three. That is long, no good and the
rebound look like Ike Scroton Boar had it. We got
a loose ball follow on north View.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
That'll go on Brady Schwartz his first second on north View,
and South will get it back.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
Well, North you're just struggling from outside, and like you said,
the way to beat his own if you're not making
the shots is get offensive rebound right. Tours just couldn't
come up with that one. He got a foul instead.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
It's a link to South Christian.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
They've been running Ryan's under there, trying to get him
some looks underneath, but Skroton, Boor and Kemper make it
tough because they're tall and long.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Here's the Tvo with a steel The Ti bou.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
Can't get the dunk to go, but he's fouled, and
the sophomore will go to the free throw line. That's
one way. That's another way. When you're struggling in the
half court. Get the transition going. You get a turnover
that gets your break. And they've got a pressure at
the half court line.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
They can't let South get down in the offensive end
and set up. I mean they have to meet them
at half court, make them get and work for every
foot on this basketball throw.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Austin Burgess has returned to the game. Carson VISs is
now sitting with those two fouls. The Tibu able to
hit the first free throw, He's got another one coming.

Speaker 10 (34:27):
Well.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Kroshelle comes in for vis and he's going that picks
up the foul.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
I believe.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Team fallows in the second quarter to a piece. Five
gets you to the bonus and they reset them each quarter.
Katiba splits the pair, hits the second and our score
is twenty six to fifteen. South now with the sophomore
Burgess running the show, kicks it to Kroshelle Krishelle for
three in the corner. No good rebound comes down to
a tibo. Here comes Brady Schwartz. Schwartz wants to drive

(34:56):
and we're gonna get follow out.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
That's Kashelle's second already, and he was the one one
that came in for Carson who had two, and so
Taylor Johnson's gonna have a little bit of a decision
to make here at some point because he's got two
guys playing the two that are two.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Fouls and it's Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
Four play second quarter, North, Bet down eleven. They have
the ball, Swartz gets the inbounds drive, stops at the
free throw line and hits. Brady Swartz has seven and
Northew's got it back to a nine point game.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Twenty six seventeen is the Sailor League.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
You know, we've got David Cool, the athletic director.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
I know it pains him when Brady's towards scores, but
he's also got to be a little bit happy because
next year he's gonna be doing that for Western David's
alma mater, So I know that he's torn a little
bit with that. But man, Brady Swartz just so smooth
when he gets into the rhythm, knocks that one down.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Big minutes here for austin Burg. Just the sophomore running
the point guard position for South. He drives and gets fouled,
and he'll go to the free throw line to shoot two.
The foul called I'm number five. Anthony Willis, and that'll
be the sophomore point guard. Second, so we'll see Julian
Charity checking the game for the first time for Northview. Meanwhile,

(36:12):
Scrotenboor and Bouschelle check out for South. Type Rinkx is
back in, as is Carson Biss. So this sits about
forty five seconds with those two fouls. Burgess hits both
free throws, and South sleeps back to a left.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
Yeah, I'm sure that maybe they wanted to get a
little more than forty five seconds out, but Chrishelle with
the two fouls kind of force their hand has to
bring Carson back in.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
So now here comes Northview attacking this South Christian zone
without Anthony Willis. Their point guard, Brady Swartz Cam Ryan's
go to work here out top Julian Charity left wing
inside high post to Swartz. Brady Swartz shot up, no good,
but we've got a tie. Brinks foul and Brady Schwartz
is gonna shoot free throws.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
No, that's how you've got to attack the zone. If
you're cold outside, you gotta get that entry that time.
Swartz flashes to the free throw line, Entry gets breaks
out of his hip, then goes to the rack and
gets the foul.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Remind you that our second quarter tonight brought to you

(37:27):
communities by going beyond our hospital walls. Swartz hits them
both and Northview is within nine again nine in the
game for the senior, whoever is twenty five and is
headed to Western Michigan next year. Austin Burgess stays at
the point even with this back in, and he drives

(37:47):
scores and he gets followed at Austin Burgess playing well
here early.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Is gonna go to the free throw line well, giving
them a lift.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
Off the bench that time driving and then getting the
hoop and the foul, and with Carson Vez having to
sit for that little bit, Austin Burgess sees an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
He's made the most of.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
It and Also we see Carson Vissa with the ball
in his hand a lot right when he's on the floor,
and it makes sense.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
But you know, Northview's aware. He's got two dolls and
they're gonna guys.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
I mean, it's not a mystery of what they're going
to try to do here. I mean, we know what's
gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
If eleven has the hands on the ball and they've
been concentrated, that that's gonna give Burgess one on one opportunities.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
Burgess hits the free throw. He's got the last five
South Christian points and it's a thirty one to nineteen games.
South is led by as many as fifteen. At twenty
four to nine. Brady Sworts with it, kicks it back
out to Julian Charity, now right wing to cam Ryan's.
They go inside the Sworts and we got a whistle

(38:52):
and that's gonna put North.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
That's Brinks again, that's his second and.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Now we got to worry about foul trouble. North.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
He's now in the Bonuss. He called it up on this.
I think they called it on this, and.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
They they called it on Carson.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
I saw breaks making the contacts. May I thought that's
what was on, But looks like this got a hand
in there.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
The foul is whistled on Carson VSS. It's his third,
it's the team's fifth. Brady swarts back to the line
where he just made two hits the first and with
three twenty to play second quarter, you have to imagine
Carson will sit the rest of this halt.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Well, I mean I know that they would have.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
I mean, if you're gonna have somebody pick up that fowel,
they would have been time breaks there. But instead it's
this and that's the third one. So even though that that,
he fowls for the team. Two guys in powel trouble.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Brady Swartz hits him both. He's got eleven.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Nine three quarter court pressure here, well.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Yeah, this out of the game.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
They're gonna make the sophomore handle and he does find
Austin Burgess just played well here Tonight gets it across
the timeline. Burgess drives in. Was gonna try to leave
for Scrotonboord, Charity got a hand, Burgess got it back.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Now kemper for three. That's long, no good.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Brady Swartz gets three bound Ike Scroton Moore, you're gonna
get called for the foul, and that's gonna be more
free throws for Brady Swartz, who's just made four in
a row.

Speaker 5 (40:11):
Yeah, and Burgess there is talking with the coach, Taylor Johnson,
and he's like, well, you know, if you're gonna dribble
that ball depth deep, you're gonna have to kick it
out at some point. But just got in there a
little bit too much and almost turned it over and
then forced a bad shot there and ends up with
the following free throws for Northew.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
So Swarts a chance to go the line here and
bring his team a little bit closer south by ten
thirty one to twenty one, Swartz hits the first. Don't
forget to stay tuned at halftime for our host Jepson
Physical Therapy halftime show. We'll check leading scorers go to
the MHSAA this week in high school Sports and we'll
get bucks keys to the second half as Swartz hits

(40:55):
them both. He's hits six straight free throws and Northew's
with an eight at thirty one twenty three, thirteen of
the twenty three for Brady Schwartz's North View and a
Man of Man defense Austin Burgess, the sophomore runs the
show for South leaves it for Davis Kepper between the
circles they're trying to go into Ike Scrotonore, We're gonna
get a whistle and a foul to call four Jake Johnson.

(41:18):
That now puts South Christian into the bonus. So Ike
scroton Bore.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Will go to the free throw line to.

Speaker 5 (41:23):
Shoot two, being very aggressive defensively because they know that
Burgess wants to get the ball down well, and so
now they're gonna be very aggressive, very handsy with Skroton
Boor and Kemper.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
That's time they get caught.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
Mike Scrotenboor hits the first forty six to play before
the half, scroton Bore with six here, excuse me, make
that eight and now nine as he hits them both
nine for Ike scroton Bore. In the first half, South

(41:58):
leads back to ten. You're come the wildcast cam Ryans
gets inside, can't get the shot to go, but another
follow on South Christian will send the Wildcats back to
the free throw and where they've been living about the
last minute and a half.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
Yeah, that had a good defensive sequence there for South Christian.
They give up pretty much up to the three point line.
They don't come up and get Cam Ryan's He just
takes the ball inside and forces the issue, gets the bowl.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Cam who's not scored in this second quarter, had three
field goals for six points in the first eight minutes.
Hits the first free throw. Cam Ryan's averages twenty three
a game. He's ranked by many as the top player
in the state of Michigan in the class of twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
Ryan's hits both free throws. He's got eight. We've got
a time out on the floor. This is the LMCU
High school basketball game of the week. On nine to
six to one. The game will be right back. Two
minutes forty one second play.

Speaker 4 (43:00):
Second quarter, South Christian thirty three, Northviews twenty five. Jason
Hutt and Buck Gino court side at Sailor's Gymnasium. South
jumped out to a twenty four to nine lead. North
Us battled back to within his closest eight. Carson has
three foul.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
I mean Carson fis having three fouls probably the story
of the game so far after the first quarter that
he had.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
Now they pick it up with the full court pressure.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
Plune gets into Burgess.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
Burgess drives baseline reverse layup is no good. Rebound comes
down to Ike Scroton bor who shot is up and good?
Ike Skroton Boor is half and a half. He's got eleven.
South Sleeve is ten again. Now Brady Schwartz drives. We
got a whistle, and I believe it's gonna be what

(43:44):
it's Northview ball. I don't know if there's a fouler
for just out a bound. Nope, not about no foul
interesting North fa North. He's been living at the free
throw line. They're attacking the basket now try yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:56):
I mean you can definitely tell that is gonna be
their monus oparade.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Get it down logo.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
After those guys try to get them and foul trouble,
after they got missed out of the game.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
Swarts double team on the inbounds, able to split it,
gets to the lane, shot won't go?

Speaker 3 (44:09):
Is he a tibo up that won't go?

Speaker 4 (44:11):
Finally, Jake Johnson there to put it in three times
the charm as Johnson on the board.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
For the first time, three for a dollar in the pay.

Speaker 5 (44:19):
Just nobody getting positioned for South Christian nor if you
had three shots that finally gets it in.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
Austin Burg, just drives and kicks to Kemper. Kemper leaves
it for Plune. Plune will give it back to Kemper.
Kemper tries to go inside to Scroton Bor.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
Scroton boor great catch and bucket Ike Scroton Bore playing
well south back up my ten.

Speaker 5 (44:41):
Well, they wanted that play a little bit earlier, but
Tyris Thomas came across, almost got the steal, but then
lost is contained.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
They fronted the other defender an easy bucket.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
Brady swarts three from way out. No good, Hatiba the rebound. No,
he puts it back up like no.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
I meant to pass it to Hatibu under the basket.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
That was a shot, that was a past right, could
have been.

Speaker 4 (45:04):
It works for two and souths Christian a little bit
struggling on the defensive glass right now. Fackler drives, his shot,
won't go. Tyris Thomas down with the war for the Wildcats.

Speaker 5 (45:13):
You can tell my coach Johnson's demeanor. That was not
what he wanted.

Speaker 4 (45:18):
Well, cam Rians took a lot of contact. No call,
his shot won't go. Fackler got the rebound fellow to
the ground. We'll have a whistle and a travel. Taylor
Johnson's not happy.

Speaker 5 (45:28):
Well, I think there he's he's not happy because he
felt that his player got knocked down. But they get
a lot of contact. That was probably a blocking follow
that they did that call there.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
I thought cam Ryan's got fouled.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
Yeah, but they didn't call it.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
And then I think they let equal contact go and
that's why he got the travel.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
So on the inbounds, Northview has that they get it
into Van Poyn under a minute to play before the half.
And now a follow on South Christian is gonna put
Jack Van Prey in the junior at the free throw line.

Speaker 5 (45:55):
So that one on Burgess and that is his second.
So again and South Christian. In this quarter, it's not
only the number of fowls, but it's the guys wearing
the numbers getting the fouls. A lot of guys with
two in Carson with three, So.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Van Prine to the stripe to shoot two first. One
is good.

Speaker 4 (46:16):
This is as close as Northview has been since late
in the first quarter thirty seven thirty. The Cat's a
trail by as many as fifteen in this game. Van
Priynt hits him both Northview has shot the ball really
well from the free throw line and they're back within
six forty eight seconds to play in the half. Fackler

(46:39):
gets it on the right wing for South Christian, working
on cam Ryan's kemper trying.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
To post up. Now it's Plune Plute shot is up.
No good. Brady Swarts with the poor.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
Think he expected contact. It just didn't get it.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Now Swartz stops fadeaway jumper won't go rebound out of
bounds last time by South Christian, So another possession coming
for Northfield. I gotta be honest with you, Buck, I
am shocked South did not go to Ike Scroton Gore
on that end.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
Well, I think they got a little bit more of
an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Plu just saw it and took it.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
But then, like you said, you're kind of surprised they
didn't go to Stroton boor who's been the hot hand.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
But that's when the play they drew up. It just
didn't work.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
Swartz gets a screen from Van Prey and now at
least for Anthony Willis, who's return to the game. With
the two fouls, Northview appears to perhaps be playing for
the final shot of the half. Ryan's with ten seconds.
Ryan's drives pulls up from eight to one. Hand shot
won't go Hitibu dips it in? Is he Hitibu with
another second chance? Bucket Burgess at the buzzer for three.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
Will not go. A great close to the second quarter
for Northview and the Wildcats cut a fifteen point deficit
down to four at the half.

Speaker 5 (47:58):
No Hatibu with a pretty good second quarter. But the
story of the game right now for his health Christian,
just a lot of powels that are building up on
some key players, and also for Northview getting that confidence
back on the offensive end.

Speaker 4 (48:12):
Thirty seven thirty three South Christian leads Northview the Wildcats
looking for the outright okay gold title, South.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
Christian hoping to share it. We have reached halftime.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
Stay tuned for the host Jepson Physical Therapy halftime show.

a stunt where the top person or flyer is in

a temporary loss of contact with the inverted flyer when
transitioning to a double based sponge with both feet of

(52:04):
the flyer in the hands of the bases, when transitioning
to a credle, when transitioning to a stunt at shoulder
level or below where both feet of the flyer are
in the hands of the bases, or are all.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
Of these allowed?

Speaker 13 (52:19):
If you said all of those are allowed, you got
it right.

As the seasons change.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
Is your home ready for the cooler months ahead?

Speaker 14 (53:43):
Join our inside the nine six won the game studios.
Take a quick look at the rapid radio scoreboard. In
college hoops tonight, Michigan State and Purdue are doing battle,
getting you set up for the Big One on Friday
between Michigan and Michigan State. Right now, number fourteen Michigan
stay at home and facing the but thirteen perdue at
the half of is the Spartans thirty three perdue thirty one.

(54:04):
Jace Richardson leads all scores with ten points, while Braden
Smith leads the boiler Makers with nine. You can hear
that one currently live on Big One O one three
in high school another game of note tonight, Catholic Central
leading Outawa Hills thirty seven to twenty eight at the half,
and of course, right here in our MCU boys basketball
game of the week, right here on nine to six

(54:25):
one in the game, South Christian leading Northview thirty seven
to thirty three. Let's head back courtside of South Christian.

Speaker 3 (54:32):
For Jason Hutton and Buck Gino.

Speaker 4 (54:35):
Gentlemen, Thanks Joe doing a great job back in our
nine six one in the game Studios, our executive producer tonight.
Don't forget Tonight's players have worked hard to get their
bodies ready for competition. All Steps and Physical therapy wants
you to stay in the game no matter what level
of activity you desire. They get patients in within twenty
four to forty eight hours. All steps and physical therapy
restoring body, reliving spirit. South Christian had the basketball to

(54:59):
start the second half, a four point lead.

Speaker 3 (55:00):
Shots, no good rebound.

Speaker 4 (55:02):
We have a jump ball, It'll go to Northview, Buck Gino,
how about your keys to the second half?

Speaker 5 (55:06):
Well, if you're North of you just have to keep
the pressure up. Gotta beat them at half court, don't
let them get into a rhythm. Carson miss back in
with three fouls. You know they're gonna try to go
at him offensively. For South Christian, they just have to
stay out in foul trouble. A lot of guys with
two miss with three. Can that get more guys in
foul trouble? Go into that bench a little bit deeper.

Speaker 4 (55:27):
Thirty seconds into the second half, Anthony Willis drives, leads
for a t boo.

Speaker 3 (55:32):
Who's up paying good is? He hit Tibo and draws.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
That's where they go right to this.

Speaker 5 (55:37):
He knows he can't commit a foul, so he just
has to play kind of passive and can't really go
at t Bu's shot with all he wants.

Speaker 4 (55:44):
Look at our MKD Funeral Homes first half scoring summer
when we get a chance thirty seven to thirty five
South by two that led by as many as fifteen.
Now we got a whistle and a fall on Brady Schwartz.
So let's check that first half scoring summer.

Speaker 5 (55:58):
For North View, the aforementioned Swartz leading them with thirteen points,
Ryans with eight, Atibu with six pres Out of Christians,
the leading scorers Carsonmiths with sixteen, Ik Scroton Bore with
thirteen and Austin Burgess with five.

Speaker 4 (56:11):
So South inbounds. After the foul, Plume gets it, gives
it to Camper. They go right inside to Scrotenbore. He
was so good in there in the first half. Scroton
Bor goes to the right hand, can't get the shot
to go. Jake Johnson gets the board for Northfield.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Yeah, he kind of felt like again maybe he thought
he was gonna little get a contact there, just goes.

Speaker 4 (56:27):
Up soft and they're scrutting Boor and the defenseman with
a block shot and Ryan's came down with it out
of bounds.

Speaker 3 (56:34):
It'll be South Christian basketball.

Speaker 4 (56:36):

South Christian gets it into Carson fists underneath. He scores
and gets fouled so with three fouls, Carson Fist now
up to eighteen points at the stripe for another one.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
Jake Johnson have the fouls.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
Fist leats the old school three point play nineteen for
Carson Fiss.

Speaker 4 (57:19):
South Christian back to a five point lead at forty
to thirty five, and the Sailors continues to stay in
a two three zone.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
Willis skills underneath thro a t bow a Tibo.

Speaker 4 (57:27):
Great pass for Jake Johnson, who is gonna dunk it.
Scrote Moore swatted it out of there. Here comes South
Scroton Moore underneath gives it up to Plume. Plume pump
fake gets it up over at Tibo and good.

Speaker 5 (57:41):
By the unofficial but Gino block counter. I think that's
four right.

Speaker 4 (57:46):
Wow, Ike's blocking shots at Tibu's blocking shots, big shot
for Plume though getting it over at Tibu.

Speaker 3 (57:51):
Now at Tibo on the other end shot well, no,
good got a little too far under the rim.

Speaker 2 (57:56):
Thick Kemper got a piece of that too.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
South comes the other way.

Speaker 4 (58:00):
Carson Biss on the left wing gets at oh skrotonmore
slit the screen.

Speaker 3 (58:05):
Now Fackler in the left wing.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
Yeah, I thought they were gonna try to dive into
the basket.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
There, Fackler drives baseline, working on Ryan's.

Speaker 4 (58:12):
Ryan's fell down, no call, Fackler missed the shot, got
it back and put it in.

Speaker 5 (58:18):
Well, Packer leading in Ryan's trying to draw a foul
there and didn't get a call. Then Factor missed that one,
but they just didn't have any help. Get the offensive
rebound and put him back in seven oh. South spurt.

Speaker 4 (58:28):
Their two point lead is ballooned to nine forty four
to thirty five and a turnover. Scrodimore with the steel
and here come the Sailors.

Speaker 5 (58:36):
Well, they've been trying to get it down low that time.
South Christian waiting in the weeds. Able to pick that
one off.

Speaker 4 (58:43):
Fackler tried to get it to scroton board, Jake Johnson
do a nice shot, getting a hand in there, goes
out of bounds. It'll stay with South Christian. As tie
Brinks returns to the game, Scrotenmore sits down.

Speaker 5 (58:52):
Yeah, he motioned to the bench. I think it was
during that a couple offensive possessions ago. He motioned to
his back. Maybe tweaks up a little bit. They wanted
to get out, but they're wait for a whistle. That's
how they finally get one and get him out on
the bench.

Speaker 4 (59:05):
Well, that's worth keeping an eye on because the way
Strungmoor's playing will be a difference maker for South Comb
March if he's healthy. This diving to the basket shot
won't go. We got a whistle and a fall on Is.

Speaker 3 (59:16):
He a tibou? And this will go to the free
throw line?

Speaker 5 (59:21):
Three quick fouls on Northview in this quarter, sending South
Christian to the line. I mentioned that they weren't that
great from the stripe team wise, but Carson Miss coming
into the game at seventy two percent not one of
the guys you want to put on.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
That free throw line.

Speaker 3 (59:40):
This hits the first, that puts him at twenty. Had
his career high thirty eight.

Speaker 4 (59:47):
Against North View the first time, was well on his
way to that tonight until he got into foul of trouble.
This hits him both. South Christian up eleven now at
forty six thirty five. Anthony Willis wor against the zone,
goes inside of Vamproy vampoyn double team kicks it back
to Willis. Willis now drives lost it out of bounds.
They say it's deflected by South Christian. It will stay

(01:00:09):
with Northfield.

Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
Well, murthew has not had great offensive possessions in the
second half. After some early success getting it down on
the baseline, this has not been able to find another
way to the basket.

Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
Their best offensive play in the second quarter when they
made that run was a missshot and offensive rebound. Here's
Swartz on the inbound driving has a shot blocked by Kemper,
But I.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Believe they're gonna call Caleb Plune for the foul they do.
Got gotta be free throws for Swarts.

Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
If Kemper got the block, but Plune just coming in
a little bit late, got a piece.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Of the arm.

Speaker 4 (01:00:48):
Four man's forty nine seconds to play third quarter. Breze
Sports had thirteen to lead Northfield in the first half,
looking for his first point in the second half and
gets it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
Well, we know that Luke's Ike Skroten boards back is
fine because he's just re entered the game four breaks.

Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
Luke was a solid player for South Christian two and
then eventually Cornstone.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Just too many kids with the left I've been doing
this for too long. Too many kids with the same
last names.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
Jason Skroton boards at South Christian, Hamilton Holland Christian. They're
all over and you can't say schrotenboard anymore because there's
so many of you got. It's scrotonbore. Swart hits and
balls back to a nine point game. Here comes Nolan
Fackler in south Is he a tibo gonna face guard this.
Now they're gonna switch on the screen and it's Willis
on this. They call double dribble on Nolan Fackler and

(01:01:37):
the ball be turned over.

Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
To north View.

Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
He tried to make it look like a pass or
something else, but he just got trapped there and didn't
want to take a five second culp.

Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
So here comes Northview against the zone. Willis right wing
to Schwart's not gonna drive middle Ryans on the left
back to Swartz. Wants to drive nicely for van Poyn
for an easy woman. He missed it and Kemper gets
the board.

Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
I don't know if they got a little piece of
that or just Van poy And thought he was gonna
get more contact put it up a little bit awkwardly.

Speaker 4 (01:02:13):
Now, when you're giving up five and six inches of
those guys, that's tough in there, because your mind plays
tricks on you. Here comes Fackler driving leave for plune
plume back to Fackler head and shoulders fake from three
and now he's gonna pull it back out top at
tebow right with him and Backler turned it over.

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
He dribbled it off his foot out of bounds.

Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
You know that's gonna get Austin Burgess back in the game.
They're trying to get him a little bit of the
rest and put fact word, but he had a rough
couple of possessions, so they'll get Austin back in there.

Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
Burgess Asafa played really well in that second quarter, yep,
especially when this was down with Baltrump well.

Speaker 5 (01:02:47):
And then I think if your north View, you gotta
feel good because in that little bit of time you
weren't scoring points. But South Christian was out either, so
they've kept the deficit only at nine.

Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Robe six thirty seven, and Northview tries to draw closer shots.

Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
No good, but Tyris Thomas up in the rebound. His
shot won't go, but we got a whistle and a foul.
I believe it's like Scroton boar, which is gonna send
Tyris Thomas to the free throw line. It's the second
on Scroton boar second on South Christian here in this
third quarter.

Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
As I mentioned, you know you're getting some guys later
in the game with two. Carson Smith was still with three.
But they've done a pretty good job in this quarter
the second cord. They picked up a lot of fouls,
only two so far in this one.

Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
Thomas hits the first free throw.

Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Third quarter being brought to you by Kids Food Basket,
our official nonprofit for the OMCU high school basketball Game
of the Week. In this regular season, every three point
basket may during our game of the Week. LMCU generously
donates fifty dollars to Kids Food Basket to nourish local
kids to reach their full potential. We've had seven threes
made in this game tonight, all in the first half.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
None yet here in this.

Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
I can hear the Kids Food Basket go.

Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
Please, please let Carson VISs do as many South Christian
games as you can.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
He's he's giving us plenty of food.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
And keep him out of a foul trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Keep him out of foul trouble.

Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
Thomas missed the second free throw, so our score is
forty six to thirty eight. South Christian in the lead,
Northview now going to be whistled for a foll. It's
cam Ryan's his first force on Northview. So for the
final three to fourteen of this third quarter, South Christian
be the bonus.

Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Next one puts him in the bonus. I like that
rule change too.

Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
I really like re saying it at the quarter instead
of the half. Having it that way just really opens
up the game, I feel.

Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
Julian Charity returns for Northview as Anthony Willis six. Now
Willis picked up two fouls in that first half. Returned
though to play the last three plus minutes of the
second quarter, has not picked up.

Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
A thirty yet.

Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
Three on the way from the corner for Austin Burgess
is good. The sophomore continues to deliver in a big spot.
South back by eleven now forty nine thirty.

Speaker 5 (01:04:59):
Eight look by Scroton board got trapped underneath the basket,
saw Austin on the wing and he buries the corner.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
Three.

Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
Jake Johnson with the shot up and good and David
Channon wants to time out. Forty nine forty is the
South League with two forty two to play in the
third quarter, we'll step aside.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
This is the LMCU High School Basketball Game of the
Week on nine to six, won the game.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
Yeast the game.

Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Jason Utt and Buck Gino.

Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
Back at South Christian High School, the Sailors, who've led
by as many as fifteen, saw their league cut to
two and extended it back to a nine point lead
at forty nine to forty with two minutes forty two
seconds to play in this third quarter. Carson Fiss, with
twenty one points in the game, picked up his third
follow in the second quarter. As yet to pick up

(01:05:59):
a follow here in this third quarter, which is obviously huge.

Speaker 5 (01:06:01):
Then you're gonna have all the South Christian fans, manny Is,
They're gonna think you jinxed him if he gets one here.
But you're right, he's played a much cleaner through quarter.
But also he hasn't been the focal point. You know
that the North View is gonna be paying attention to him,
and Tibo's done a pretty good job on him. But
the other guys have picked up the slack and done
a pretty good job.

Speaker 3 (01:06:20):
Here's Austin Burgess left alone for three.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
Like that guy.

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
Austin Burgess has hit two straight threes.

Speaker 4 (01:06:26):
He's got a career high eleven and South Christian's up
a doesn't.

Speaker 5 (01:06:30):
I mean Austin Burgess doing a great job of taking
over the three ball king for Carson Biss.

Speaker 4 (01:06:36):
I don't want to speak out of turn here, buck Gino,
but I think there's a chance, a chance that Austin
Burgess is gonna be the South Christian quarterback when we
get to the fall as a junior. Excellent answer that
time by Brady Swartz. HiT's the fadeaway jump shot for two,
and it's fifty two to forty two. Danny Brown's in

(01:06:57):
the house somewhere. I'll ill confirm that if I see him.
Carson Viiss now drives, his shot won't go, but he've
got a whistle and a follow on North you and
that's gonna be two free throws for Carson Fiss.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
It is he a tibu?

Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
I believe it's his third.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Yeah, there's gonna be a TVU. It's a only a
second though, and.

Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
We're getting to the point of the game now where
you're starting to count those and starting to look at that.

Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
But first free throw from this is good twenty two
for fists, and at this point South got out to
that big lead. Northew made a run, and now it's
just kind of trade baskets here.

Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
If you're north, you know, it's kind of like I
go always back to the back to the football stuff.
I mean, you can trade scores, but that doesn't get
you anywhere you're north of You've got to get a
stop here.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
At some point. Putting this on the line is that
one way to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
This hits them both.

Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
He's got twenty three South leaps twelve again at fifty
four forty two. Brady Swartz out front to Cameron's and
the left wing.

Speaker 5 (01:07:57):
And if you're gonna go possession, possession, you gotta start
hitt some threes.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
If you're gonna do that for your dorth you why
Brady Swartz is at a good night? He just hits
another jump shot. Sixteen footer is good. Nineteen for Brady Schwartz.
Here comes Carson VISs the other way, gets around the defender,
lays it up an end twenty five for Carson vis
Here comes to Brady Swartz. Swartz cut off by Burgess.

(01:08:23):
Now this picks him up. Swartz gave it up, got
it back, and now he kicks it out to cam
Ryan's Tyris Thomas for three that's short, ball goes out
of bounds, No, did not go out of bound.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
South saved it. This saves it to Kemper and the
Sailors get the possession.

Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
Though they're just gonna let that go.

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
And look it hit a dorth View player and was
gonna go out of bounds, but this saved it anyway, leave.

Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
No doubt right this now under a minute to play.
Third quarter works on at Tibou.

Speaker 4 (01:08:49):
But is he a t bo Just a sophomore draws
the assignmon A Carson vis in a big spot here,
shot for three from Kemper is no good.

Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Jake Johnson has the rebound, We have a whistle and
a foul.

Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
Ike scrotenbor his third third on South Christians. They still
have one to give with forty eight seconds to play
in the third quarter.

Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
Just a tough one there if you're if you're Ike,
because you don't have the position and you really know
if you're gonna take one, probably would not like it
to be an over the bat call and turn the
ball over.

Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Just forty seconds left in the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:09:23):
Don't forget fourth quarter means our wing doozy fan of
the game, So get ready. Six one six, four, five, four, three, seven,
seven six, will let you know win to call to
be the Knight's fan of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
Joe Aaron standing by back.

Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
In our nine to six one in the game's studios.
We got a whistle and a turnover ball going over
to north View and the jump ball, excuse me, ball
going over to South Christian on the jump.

Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
That technically it turned over. You were right, You're all good.
You're good.

Speaker 4 (01:09:50):
So South now, with thirty two seconds to play in
the quarter, could potentially play for the final shot.

Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
Sounds like that's what they're gonna have to do.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Oh boy, I call him moving screen on Davis Kemper.
Moving screen on Davis Kemper. That would be the fourth
South Christian team foul. It's the first on Davis Kemper
who battled followed trouble January twenty thirty. Northfield did not score,
hardly played, but that's just his first. He's like the

(01:10:18):
only South Christian player who has not been in foul trouble. Tonight,
as we see number fourteen, Wyatt saw the senior, the
kicker from the football team checking in for the first time.
Here comes Anthony Willis as norfew now will get the
chance to play.

Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
For the final shot down at twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:10:35):
Here late in the third quarter, cam Ryan's high post
drives against three defenders, scores and gets fouled.

Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
Cam Ryan's will go to the free throw line. They
called the foull on Nolan Fackler.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
I think on the block instead, it's fat thro out of.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
The arm, So I stand corrected.

Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Dylan Fackler and Davis Kemper both now follow trouble, and
here comes the South starters, all checking back in offense
for defense here right, you keep Carson and Vis out
because he's got three fouls, but now you're gonna get
the ball back for nine seconds to go. So scrotenbor Vis,
Plunan Kemper all come back. And so it's starting five
on the floor for South Christian and of.

Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
The shooting file. So you know that he's not gonna
have a chance to commit a foul on that.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
And Ryan's converts the three point play.

Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
He's got eleven North three back within nine, Vis for
three with five seconds to go in short and the
rebound of Brady Swartz with one to let it go
from three quarter court at the buzzer, no good and
after three our score South Christian fifty six northfewy seven.

Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
We'll be back with the final eight minutes. This is
the LMCU high school basketball game of the Week. On
nine to six, won the game.

Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
We played twenty four minutes in South Christian High School,
the home standing Sailors with a nine point lead over
Northview fifty six forty seven. And it looks like we're
gonna have an extended break here before the fourth quarter
because the red light is on well, and the scoreboard's
not working, so the red light is on around the backboard.

(01:12:18):
You know, it's interesting we talk about shot clock and
potential for shot clock buck that's I guess that red
light around there would be for when the clock strikes zero,
but most of the time you see it when a
shot clock hit zero. Of course, no shot clocks here
in high school basketball. But they're gonna get the ladder out.
They're gonna have to work on this. So the first
thing is did you turn it off and turn it

(01:12:39):
back on again?

Speaker 5 (01:12:39):
We always got to try that, right, But they're gonna
try to disconnect it and get this over get the
get the third quarter intermissioned over with. But yeah, the
amber lights around the backboard aer so that you can signal,
and really it's for the officials, right, so you can
tell you not have to look at the clock while

(01:13:00):
kids looking at it. It's to help the officials. And
it's nice when it works. But it looks like they're
gonna try to fix it here, so we are gonna
have an extended break.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Well, they just went up there and unplugged it. It's
off now, and I.

Speaker 5 (01:13:15):
Mean that's one way to fix it. So why I
tell my kids, Dad, this doesn't work, Well, then unplug it.

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
So you get an extra sixty seconds with David Channa,
what are you telling your team here to try to
score against the zone?

Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
Well, I mean, rightly, what they've gotta do is they've
got to get that ball inside.

Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
They got a little inside outside game.

Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
They've kind of relied on Brady Schwartz just trying to
meander through there and make his own shots. But they've
got to find a way to get the ball into
a free, open spot. Cam Ryot's boy, he's been almost
invisible in the second half for North View.

Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Gotta find a way to get him on track.

Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
Yeah, eleven points. He had thirty one the first time around.
He's obviously a great player. After just twenty three, so
we're ready to go here North You has it as
we start the fourth quarter after a very slight delay,
an excellent job by the South Christian staff to get
the backboard ready for play. Norfew goes inside to ryans
Ryan's up and end. Cam Ryan's heard you buck gino.

(01:14:14):
He gets two and northeast within seventh.

Speaker 5 (01:14:17):
Just thought there would be a foul underneath there, but
he goes up strong gets the two.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Well.

Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
I think that's one of the things that College just
really like about cam Ryan's is his physicality.

Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
I mean, dude can't bring it. Speaking of bringing a
scroton boar with a flip up, but it will not go.
Brady Swartz clears the rebound for North to you big
spot here for the Cats to drive even closer.

Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
Schwartz drives base I pull up shot is blocked by Factler.
They're gonna call a foul, but Brady Swartz to the line.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
To shoot two.

Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
Oh no, it's gonna be Fackler, thoughts be on scroting board,
but instead it's Fatler, which is probably a break for
them because that would have been scouting boards fourth.

Speaker 3 (01:14:54):
Second on Factler, first in the team we're just forty
eight seconds into this fourth quarter. It follows have been
a factor all night long, so we'll watch that here
in these final few minutes. Schwartz has not missed a
free throw tonight, just did for the first time. It's
not my fault that.

Speaker 5 (01:15:09):
Right say, it's laughter. So it doesn't that count for
the Jakes. You were thinking it though, So maybe it's
a half of Jakes time.

Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
Nineteen for Schwartz. He ages twenty five and he splits
the pair, Brady Swartz with twenty. We have a six
point game, fifty six fifty five. Northfew was within two
early in the third quarter at thirty seven to thirty five,
before South extended the lead back to double digits.

Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
They've got it down to six. Now they got to
get a stop here.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
Kemper working on a Tibu drives can't get the shot
to go, and Brady Swartz has to have double digit rebounds, right,
I don't have stats in front of me. Brady Schwartz
has been great in the glass. We'll see the follow
on South Christian.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
That's gonna be Temper. Is that gonna be on This
gonna be on Kemper.

Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
Second on Kemper I'm just impressed with Schwartz's I mean,
he is mentality is every rebound is mine.

Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
That's what I've seen tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
Yeah, well he's gonna have to because it's he and
really Hitsibu have been the only guys on the glass
before the Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (01:16:13):
Tyris Thomas in the game out front with Anthony Willis, Swartz, Hittibu,
and Ryan's worked against the South Christian zone. Thomas between
the circles, goes left wing to Willis where it's six
point thirty six to play in regulation. Schwartz now drives,
stops shot his short Davis Kepper.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
With the rebound.

Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
Good defense that time by scrougeboard Vis. Here comes Vis
for the Sailors. Yeah, that's the forest there by Schwartz, Schwartz,
excuse me, this drives on Hittibu. Good defense by Atiba.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
But South got the offensive rebound and we got a
whistle and a following. Davis Kemper, who got the offensive rebound,
is gonna go to the free throw line as they
call the follow on Tyris Thomas, which is his first
and Northeast first. But David Kepper, who has just three
points in this game, we'll go to the free throw
line to shoot two Kemper averages twelve a game. All right,

(01:17:10):
it's time time for us to crown a wing doozy
fan of the game. Call right now, call her number
six at six one, six, four, five, four, three seven
seven six to Joe Errett and our end six to
one in the game. Studios, we'll win a twenty five
dollars gift card to wing Doozy.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
Kemper hits them both five for Kemper. South lead is
eight at fifty, eight to fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Well, it's been Schwartz so far.

Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
But they've gotta get cam Ryan's more involved, or at
least somebody else, because.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
You know that they're gonna be protecting and get sports
on the drive.

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
Not a South bend in the zone.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
All night.

Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
They were in it for I'd say eighty five percent
of the game at Northview. Here comes Anthony Willis driving.
Has it stripped whistle and a foul on Fackler. Nolan
Factler can't believe it. Taylor Johnson can't believe it. It
is not a shooting foul. It's the thirteen fell on
South and northfiel will inbound.

Speaker 5 (01:18:03):
Nobody can believe it, except for the North few men,
they're the only ones that believe it, and the North
few faithful behind him.

Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
I didn't see it. I didn't see it either way,
I can't say.

Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
But five point fifty five to play in the fourth quarter,
Northview trailing South Christian fifty eight to fifty in the
wild canceling bound from the baseline, Schwartz for three.

Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
And he had it.

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
Brady Schwartz is good and we got a five point
game at fifty eight to fifty three.

Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
Twenty three for Brady Swartz.

Speaker 5 (01:18:29):
Not the guy that you want to leave, opens through
South Christian, but he sneaks in there, gets it in
the quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
This has twenty five drives and scores twenty seven for
Carson mess.

Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
In the future, WMU teammates going back and forth, sixty
to fifty three sailors.

Speaker 5 (01:18:46):
This kind of got away with a little bit of
a hook there, but that's how that goes sometimes, sixty.

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
To fifty three sailors. By seven.

Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
We're at five and fifteen to play in the fourth quarter,
and we got a whistle and a foul on South Christian.
They're gonna call Carson VISs for his fourth offensive.

Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
Follow he runs into Tyris Thomas on the screen there,
and the problem was is he just puts his hands
out and all the referee saw was hands extended, and
that's what he calls the follow up.

Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
So Carsons is gonna go to the bench here five
sixteen to play South with the lead by seven.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Well, you gotta wonder how long he does sit out
even with the four fouls.

Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
Plune checks back in Ryan's drives, He's followed. He will
shoot two as that's the fifth he fall on South.
I believe he's a shooting follow anyway. That's four on Factler,
So Fackler and Vis have four.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Scrotenbore has three, and cam Rion's is going to the
free throw line.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
That's gonna bring in Krashelle guessing.

Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
For cam Ryans misses the first free throw, Caleb Krishelle
returns the lineup Factoro'll sit down with four.

Speaker 5 (01:20:03):
Well, the one thing for Northew today that hasn't gone
well is the free throw shooting. They've missed a couple
key ones, and that one certainly was one of the
key one.

Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
Bryan's with thirteen misses him both and Davis Kemper has
the rebound for South.

Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
Krista Oh, he had to wrestle that away from the taboo.
Almost got to jump ball there.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Yeah, Tiev has been really good on the offensive glass
all night for Northfield. I don't need him to work there.

Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
They want to come back Kemper for an open look
at a three, but it's no good and we got
a whistle and a foul.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
On South Christian. They called like Skrokebore for his fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Well, he was locked up with Thomas.

Speaker 5 (01:20:46):
I thought maybe at some point they were gonna call
Tyris Thomas, but instead it goes against Scroton Boord.

Speaker 4 (01:20:52):
Yeah, I thought they were gonna call Northview fall as well. Yeah,
but that's four on Scrokebore. So this Scrotonboor and Factler
all have four. Ty Brinks is going to return to
the game after this first free throw and Scrodmore will.

Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Sit down with the four.

Speaker 4 (01:21:07):
Cam Ryan's back to the line to shoot two where
he just missed two a moment ago, But he hits
that one.

Speaker 5 (01:21:13):
No, you can't miss those dudes for camp. But then
he redeemed himself by making that one. And now that's
gonna be tough because got two starters with four fouls.

Speaker 4 (01:21:25):
The Ryan's hits the first hits the six point game.
Ryan's hits the second. He's got fifteen and we're at
four forty eight to play in the game. South Christian
with the ball in a five point lead at sixty
to fifty five. Austin Burgess continues to run the point

(01:21:45):
for South, leaves it for Davis Keprier drives baseline, shot is.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
Up and good by all travel before I think.

Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
We are blocked somewhat. Yeah, this end by the South.

Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Christian beating on the ground.

Speaker 3 (01:22:00):
They called the fall before the shot on the ground.

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
That's that's where the consternation from the South Christian fans
came from.

Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
By the way, Brady swartz whistle for the follow it's
his third three on swartz Kepper for three good Davis
Kepper with a big one.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Well he wanted the and one, but he made it
the other way just as well.

Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
Sixty three fifty five sailors by eight this scrotenbore fackler
all sit with four fowls. Here's Tyrs Thomas driving at
least for cam Ryan's.

Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
Ryan's wants to drive shot up, No good is he
a tibo on the glass, got it back, kicks it
out to Willis Now.

Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
Schwartz tebow pulls up lame. Oh he's hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Oh, he does appear to be in some pain. Brady
Swarts drives and scores, and we're gonna stop it here.

Speaker 5 (01:22:48):
Yeah, I think he's I think he's stepped on I
think he rolled his angle and stepped on somebody's shoe.
But he was in definite pain and distressed right after
he passed the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:23:03):
Carson VISs is gonna return to the game for South
Christian with three fifty six to play and four personal fouls.
Caleb Chrischelle checks out the Tibu leaves as Jack van
Preyen returns for Northview. Five team falls on South Christian.

(01:23:24):
So every South Christian follow the rest of the night
will result in two wild cap free throws.

Speaker 3 (01:23:29):
Just two fouls on North View.

Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Yeah, they got two to give.

Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
They'll have two to give and they it's in. That's
big because they trail by six.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
YEP.

Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
Austin Burgess, who's played a heck of a game to night,
continues to run the point for South kicks to Kemper.

Speaker 3 (01:23:42):
Kemper drives baseline and lays it in.

Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
Boy Kemper coming up big with Scroton Bore and this
out of the lineup, even though this back had a
great drive there by Kemper.

Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
The six seven seniors got the last five for the Sailors,
who leads sixty five fifty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
Possession of must.

Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
Now for Northview, three twenty five to play and nothing
happening quickly against this South Christian zone. Anthony Willis on
the right wing, back to Swarts between the circles schwartzt
Willis now Thomas taking a lot of time Swarts for
three pretty deep short rebound out of bounds. It's gonna

(01:24:23):
be South Christian basketball, they say. Tyris Thomas is laying
out of bounds when he touched it, so to be
South Christian ball. And we gets Scrotonboor back in with
four foules as ty brink sits down.

Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
Well, you do that as the eye the offensive end
and hopefully that they don't pick up a loose ball foul.
He might see a little bit more of that offensive
defensive slap and they.

Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
Can get some whistles.

Speaker 5 (01:24:44):
They have foul five timeouts too, so if Taylor Dinson
wants to go that route, he's got all the timeouts
to use to make that happen.

Speaker 3 (01:24:51):
Now, South with the ball. They're just gonna attack now.
He stops and comes back out front North He's still
in the man a man defense. This works on Schwartz
left corner. This drives right, stops, spins, shot is up.
No good, Brady swarts another rebound.

Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
Here comes Northview. Swartz drives. It is a shot blocked
by Kemper. We're gonna call it blocking foul underneath an
Austin Burgess. Yep, So that'll be two free throws for
Brady Swartz. Kemper blocked it up top, but it's the
third on the sophomore it.

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
Swarts will go to the line.

Speaker 5 (01:25:27):
No, and he's just too far into the basket there
to get any sort of charge. I mean he's looking
straight up at the cylinder when he gets hit.

Speaker 15 (01:25:35):
Take it.

Speaker 3 (01:25:37):
Swarts at the free throw line, leads Northview with twenty points.
Excuse me, twenty two points. Hits that one to bring
us to a sixty five to fifty eight.

Speaker 5 (01:25:50):
Game North Every time on the line it's an adventure.
They get every piece of the rim, sometimes the glass.
It's just that great free through shooting. But it's it's
worked so far.

Speaker 4 (01:26:03):
Swartz hits them both and he has twenty seven in
the game twenty seven for Swartz sixty five fifty nine
South Christian with the leading the ball. We're at two
and a half to play in regulation. Tyris Thomas a
near Steel Burges runs it down for South and now
they got a steal. Is he at Tibu with the steal?
And here comes Northeast.

Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
You get to see Atibu back in after rolling that
ankle too.

Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
Cam Ryan's drives shot won't go, but hit Tibu tips
it up and in is he hit Tibou has ten
Northeus within Ford sixty five sixty one.

Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
Oh no, we're gonna pick him up a half court.

Speaker 4 (01:26:39):
So Vis and Schwartz near half court. This drives and
we're gonna get a follow on Brady Schwartz.

Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
That's his fourth.

Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
Now just the third team foul on Northeus. So they
still have one to get. But Brady Swart's gonna have
to come out.

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
I think, well, David Chan's gonna talk about he'll call
time out, time out on the floor. We'll take it
with him. This is the LMCU High School Basketball Game
of the Week on nine to six won the game.

Speaker 4 (01:27:47):
A big congratulations to Sean Farrell of Byron Center. He's
Tonight's wing Doozy fan of the game. He was calling
number six and Shawn's gonna get a twenty five dollars
gift card to Wing Doozy named the best chicken wings
in West Michigan three years running in oh those fries
with locations in Wyoming and the Metro Health Village off
of Byron Center Avenue and just off Chicago Drive in

(01:28:09):
Hudsonville by Gemmons, Sean Farrow, Tonight's wing Dooozy game fan
of the game, Mari buck Gino. We got two to
three left. South Christian leads North through sixty five sixty one.
Brady Swartz just joined the four foul party already occupied
by Carson vis, Ike Scrouten Borr, and Nolan Fack are
all South Christian Sailors. Yep, South Scott up four with

(01:28:32):
two to three left.

Speaker 5 (01:28:32):
Well, you wonder now, with all of those players in
the game, who's gonna blink first?

Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Kemper on Swartz out front.

Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
You gotta believe Kemper will loked to drive here with
Swarts with four fouls, but he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
He gives up to this Vis on Atibu drive. Shot
is up in shorts.

Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
But Caleb Plune the rebound, the putback and the bucket.
How about the effort from the senior. Caleb Plune comes
up huge for South Christian and he has a chance
to make this a three pace eshon game here in
the final two minutes.

Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Well and Plune, they're just Johnny on the spot. Skrotenboor
was trying to box out now scrotonborg Actually, I thought
they're gonna take him out, and instead they take Burgess out,
So they're gonna leave Scroton Boor in for defensive purposes.
He guess with under two minutes ago, you gotta plow
out all the stops.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
Tyrius Thomas called for the foul, his second team's fourth,
meaning both teams will now be in the bonus for
the remainder of this one. Caleb Plune converts the three
point play. He has five points all coming here. In
the second half, South Christians lead is seven and sixty
eight to sixty one. South Christian student section comes alive
at the urging of Taylor Johnson and Northview is gonna

(01:29:45):
have to find a way to score against this.

Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
Soll and Brady Swartz left wing works against factlers.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
He drives right, Anthony Willis leaves for Cam Ryan's Ryan's
got in the air.

Speaker 3 (01:29:56):
Lost it and Willis got it back.

Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
What Else's pass is intercepted by Carson Wiss, who was
trying to get underneath the swarts, but this took it
away and we're gonna get a time out on the
floor by Taylor Johnson with a minute twenty to play
in the game, and.

Speaker 3 (01:30:12):
South with the seven point League, we'll step aside. This
is the LMCU High School Basketball Game of the Week
on ninety six point one the game. Stay tune. We're
only eighty seconds away.

Speaker 4 (01:30:33):
From the discount door postgame show where we'll name our
uptown cheapskate player of the game, our defensive player of
the game, and our play of the game. All gonna
be difficult decisions and all probably are gonna be decided
in the final Minute'll say we got.

Speaker 5 (01:30:50):
We played thirty minutes and forty seconds and we don't
have any of those guys locked in yet.

Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Not yet.

Speaker 4 (01:30:55):
Sixty eight to sixty and that's why we love this matchup.
Sixty eight to sixty one. South Christian. The Sailors have
led throughout and by as many as fifteen Northview now
will be on defense, down three possessions. Davis Kepper gets
it into Caleb Plune and we're gonna get a kickball.
Brady Swartz kicks it out of bounds. South will keep it.

Speaker 8 (01:31:20):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
No shot clock here.

Speaker 5 (01:31:21):
South Christian had any hurry other than to get at
the cross half court.

Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
Kemper needs to get in and finally does the Scroton
boar Scroton board trapped and Taylor Johnson's gonna get a
time out with a minute fourteen to play in the
ball game, We're gonna keep it right here, buck Gino.
So we've talked about what's on the line tonight, Northview
for the outright title South Christian. If they can hang
on to this lead, which they had the entire game,
they would then need to win Friday to beat Whalen

(01:31:49):
and they would share the title with Northview. Both teams
heading towards districts. Both will host a district where they'll
be the number one seed. I mean, you're gonna find
yourselves in these situations if you're both of these teams
when they get to February s last March here. So
I think you can learn a lot in this situation. Here,
if you're David Channa or Taylor Johnson well.

Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
And down the stretch.

Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
I mean, we've talked about them being frustrated by his
own I mean, somebody's got to pull up and shoot
a jay that's not Schwartz or cam Ryans.

Speaker 2 (01:32:19):
They've got to get somebody else involved.

Speaker 5 (01:32:21):
That tebos seem to be that guy in the first half,
but they just haven't been able to get that going
in the second half. Not enough consistent scoring from somebody
other than Schwartz or Ryans.

Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
We are ready to resume and at fourteen to play,
Caleb plund inbound for Salkinson into Kemper. Kemper trapped and
he has his past intercepted by a Tipoo throws it
out to.

Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Ryan's, Ryan's to Schwartz.

Speaker 4 (01:32:43):
Swarts shot blocked by Kemper, but a whistle and a foul.
I believe Davis Kemper is gonna get called for it.

Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
I mean, he got a lot of ball, but unfortunately
he got a lot of everything else too.

Speaker 4 (01:32:55):
So Brady's Swartz will go to the free throw line
to shoot two. Kemper's third foul. Nolan Fackler is not
on the floor for South.

Speaker 3 (01:33:05):
Christians heay and look, I thought he had checked in,
but then they changed their minds. Backler with four scripting
four Vis four Swartz at the line four. Nobody's fouled
out yet Swartz hits the first, making a sixty eight
sixty two ball game.

Speaker 5 (01:33:27):
Well out, nor if you, if you get this one
down almost assuredly, get a pressure off the inbounds.

Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
Swartz hits them both. He's got twenty nine. Remember he
had a fifty burger earlier this year. He can score
with the best of them, sixty eight sixty three. After
the free throws, nor Few doesn't have to foul yet
still minute ago. This gets it across the timeline and
gets fouled by cam Ryans So Carson, vis a seventy
two percent free throw shooter, will go to the charity

(01:33:57):
stripe and shoot a pair.

Speaker 2 (01:33:58):
Holy Ryan's second foul of the game.

Speaker 5 (01:34:00):
So if you're looking for somebody to pick up those
fouls to help extend the game, cam Ryan's one of
those candidates.

Speaker 3 (01:34:07):
Yeah, Thomas Tyris Thomas on the floor also has two.

Speaker 4 (01:34:12):
The tBu maybe has two, maybe three. I think at
TBO has three, and Jake Johnson has two. Obviously, Brady
Swarts on the floor.

Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
Has four Yeah, I mean, so you've got options other
than Brady Swartz.

Speaker 4 (01:34:23):
This misses the first free throw, Nolan Fackler with four
fouls back in the game, Austin Burgess sits down.

Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
Little offense defense substitution there.

Speaker 4 (01:34:32):
Yeah, Fackler for sure, outstanding defender. Second free throw for
this is good. Two possessions at sixty nine to sixty
three Northview under a minute to go. Now cam Ryan's
for three.

Speaker 3 (01:34:45):
It's good cam Ryans, and we have a three point
game at sixty nine sixty six with fifty three seconds
to go, and you expect anything less other than Ryan's
to make that shot. Didn't you know what's gonna I mean,
this game, this it deserves it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
Oh wow, just a clutch shot by cam Ryans.

Speaker 5 (01:35:05):
And maybe he hurt that I said he was a
little bit invisible, because he is no longer invisible. Just
burries a three pointer right in the face of a
defender to pull this to a one possession game. And
now north View they only have the one tame out remaining.
Both teams in the bonus, so you know that they're
gonna pressure here. Once against the cross half court, they'll

(01:35:27):
have the foul, but boy wouldn't have it any other way,
coming right down to the wire. I mean early in
this game, Jason, we thought that South Christian could be
running away with this. They got it up to almost
a twenty point lead, and then Northview is just chipped
away and kept on playing, and they've got it down
to three.

Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
With fifty three point two seconds.

Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
It's one possession so far. Right now, it's one possession.
So you say, if you're north will you follow once
to get a half across half court.

Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
I mean you're gonna do all. I mean, I don't
do it right away.

Speaker 5 (01:36:00):
We go for a steal here with the one possession game,
but I think you want to follow relatively quickly to
give yourself a little bit more time, because you don't
want it too much time to go off the clock
and then you short yourself.

Speaker 3 (01:36:11):
And as you pointed out, South Christian is not a
great free throw shooting.

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
Team, and you've only got the one time out.

Speaker 5 (01:36:16):
If you had more time outs left, I can see that,
but only with the one time out.

Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
You gotta try to conserve time.

Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
So Kemper and Bounds gets it.

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
The vis Biss back to Kemper, Kemper gets it across
the timeline to Plune, and now we get to follow
on Tyrus Thomas, and that's gonna put Caleb Plune at
the free throw line, and he's musician's best.

Speaker 5 (01:36:34):
Yeah, and he's looking at the bench and coach Charl's like,
we didn't say right away follow him. That's kind of
what I was alluding to, is maybe try to get
a steal there. And I think Thomas just went right
for the foul.

Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
I think you could have played another ten seconds of defense.

Speaker 4 (01:36:46):
And Plume's a guy you know, identify and say, let's
not foul here, right, just made the last two yep. Oh,
and he misses the first one. Sorry, he made he
made his last free throw and that's the last two.
So sixty nine to sixty six, one more free throw
coming for Plune with forty seven seconds to play in regulation.

Speaker 3 (01:37:11):
Plenty of time here. I think even if he makes
miss nor if you can go to the basket.

Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
Yeah, you don't have to settle for a three point
shot at all.

Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
Plune hits the second, he's got six. It's a two
possession game. It's seventy to sixty six.

Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
Yeah, you do. You can definitely go for a quicker
too here if that's what you get.

Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
South Christian is in man demand. First time we've seen
it tonight and Jake Johnson's out of bounds to South.
Brady Swartz was trying to get through a double team
and the ball goes out of bounds. Johnson tried to
save it. It's a turnover, and a big one.

Speaker 5 (01:37:45):
Well, he tried to split the defense there with Johnson
coming over a little bit for the screen, didn't take
it instead, gets pickpocketed and then ends up on the turnover.

Speaker 3 (01:37:54):
Excellent defense by Davis Kemper that time.

Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:37:57):
Now it's Burgess in the back court, plun across the
vis South gets across the timeline and we're gonna have
a foul. Jake Johnson gives the foul on Austin Burgess
with twenty five seconds to play in regulation.

Speaker 5 (01:38:11):
Oh you noticed he didn't foul Carson miss. He tried
to just make him give the ball up. I think
if Carson had his brothers, he probably just held on
to that there instead of passing it very quickly to Burgess.

Speaker 4 (01:38:21):
I tell you the guys you want to follow if
you Northview are Skrotonboor and Kemper Burgess seventy five percent.

Speaker 3 (01:38:27):
We'll go to line to shoot two here and he
makes the first.

Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Even if he makes both, it's still be two possessions
seventy one sixty six. After Burgess hits the first twelve
in the game. Now for the sophomor has played great
off the bench.

Speaker 5 (01:38:41):
Oh, with that turned over, now you're forced, if you're
north of you to take a three point shot on
the next possession.

Speaker 3 (01:38:47):
Second for Burgess is good again.

Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
South is up seventy two sixty six with twenty five
seconds to play in regulation.

Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Yeah, so now it's gonna be who's gonna step up
and make the shot?

Speaker 4 (01:39:01):
Here comes Ryan South, Christian backing the man, and man
Ryan's for three. That's long, no good. Carson VISs up
for the rebound, throws it out to Fackler. Fackler across
the timeline with twelve and we get a whistle and
a foul. Okay with ten seconds to play, falls on
Jake Johnson.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
I was waiting for that to come.

Speaker 5 (01:39:22):
I mean, they get it all the way across half
court and David Chaa is trying to get his guys
the foul they just had tagged back too far.

Speaker 2 (01:39:31):
By.

Speaker 5 (01:39:31):
Now it's gonna be a little bit more academic with
fact we're going to the line and ten seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
Well, one free throw will end it.

Speaker 4 (01:39:37):
But Facler just forty seven percent to stripe this year,
berries the first and that will make it three possessions.

Speaker 5 (01:39:43):
I think tonight we've proved that numbers don't meet a
whole lot because the guys who are shooting eighty percent
are missing front ends and the guys who are shooting
forty seven percent are knocking him down.

Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
Fackler splits the pairs, he misses the second seventy three,
sixty six, with seven seconds to play, Schwartz for three.

Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
That's no good rebound loose. Jake Johnson puts it in
and that'll do it.

Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
South Christian wins the game, seventy three to sixty eight,
and they pull even in the lost column with Northview.
The Wildcats are done with Okay gold play at eleven
to one. South Christian improves to ten and one seventeen
and four overall, and the Sailors emerge victorious tonight in

(01:40:28):
the LMCU High School Basketball Game of the Week, seventy
three to sixty eight. The final they led by as
many as fifteen twenty four to nine early in the
second quarter. Northview got it as close as too early
in the third, and then as close as three in
the final minute before South holds on to win it

(01:40:51):
seventy three sixty eight.

Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
Buck, you know your final your thoughts on this win
for the Sale.

Speaker 5 (01:40:56):
Well, it was a failing effort by North They were
down by a lot early, but they fought back like.

Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
The team that we knew that they were.

Speaker 5 (01:41:04):
Just I think they set themselves up a little bit
too much there, too much of a definite to make up,
especially for a team that kind of was shooting cold
through the middle of the game and ended up losing
by five points. But I think just setting themselves up
with that big early definicit really made them work the
rest of the way and South Christian was just able

(01:41:26):
to get that win.

Speaker 4 (01:41:29):
South Christian wins at seventy three sixty eight over Northview tonight.
Great win for the Sailors, as head coach Taylor Johnson
joins us coach, you got out to a fifteen point
lead twenty four to nine. Obviously you don't win a
game in the first nine minutes, but how big is
that to start strong?

Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
And play from in front the whole night.

Speaker 10 (01:41:48):
Well, I want to give a lot of credit to
our crowd. I thought our student session ARCUD was awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
Day had a lot of energy here. Mary.

Speaker 10 (01:41:54):
Guys, we've been thinking about this one for a long time, Jase,
I mean that buzzer beater at Northew sticks with you
for a long time, and so we throwed a lot
of grant.

Speaker 15 (01:42:01):
Carsonvisk came out hot. That was huge too.

Speaker 10 (01:42:04):
But a lot of credit goes Star fans and the
energy that we produced here tonight, and that's why it's
hard to play here, and that's why we love being
at home.

Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
Well, Coach, you knew they were gonna have a CounterPunch
for you.

Speaker 5 (01:42:12):
I mean, that's too good of a team to lay
down going down twenty four to nine. What did you
tell your guys as they started to come back? You
knew that they were gonna have that for you. What
did you tell your guys to concentrate on to make
sure that they didn't let the lead sup away?

Speaker 15 (01:42:26):
It was just our defense and rebounding.

Speaker 10 (01:42:28):
I mean I felt like they got back in the
game because is he number twelve. I mean, he is
one heck of a player. I give him a ton
of credit. He must have had twelve fifteen rebounds excuse me,
and he really really bothered us.

Speaker 15 (01:42:39):
But you had to stay the course. Our zone is good,
our length is good. You have to trust it. Play
the numbers game and it worked on our favorite tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
How about that zone? How much of a weapon?

Speaker 4 (01:42:49):
I know it's maybe maybe a North Youth specific thing
because you play a lot of man, But is that
something you feel like in the right spot you're comfortable going.

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
To in the turn?

Speaker 10 (01:42:58):
Absolutely, I mean, there's no doubt about it. If you
playing US, I feel you got to prep for both
of them.

Speaker 15 (01:43:02):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 10 (01:43:02):
Our man's pretty good in our zone's pretty good, and
that's what makes us unique. I don't think a lot
of teams have two defenses that they're there confident it,
and we're really confident in both of them.

Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
Well, coach, you're going down the stretch now, you've clinched
at least a share of the Okay, gold, you got
one more conference game to really make that stick. But
talk about a little bit. You're coming into the tournament
time here, you're playing a really good team.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Talk about what that didn't mean for you?

Speaker 5 (01:43:28):
Guys going into March, not only playing a tough conference game,
but also playing this type of game going into the postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
How that helps you, guys, Yeah, well.

Speaker 10 (01:43:37):
That's like a twister. They're one of the best teams
in state. I mean, they have talent that you haven't
seen before. And you know, we were able to slow
them down a little bit tonight, but.

Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
They they do.

Speaker 15 (01:43:46):
They do a great job. And we got great players here.

Speaker 10 (01:43:48):
And it's because our kids play multi sports and then
because they play football Danny Brown that they're ready to go.
And I think they're ready for the moments. But no,
you gotta give a lot of credit to them. Listen,
it's all about growth. We are one in three, right,
We were one in three, and a lot of people
are like, oh, here you go again, you know what
I mean, And we just we just we stayed with growth.

Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
I want to let you go. But you brought that up.

Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
You're you're sixteen to one since that one and three start,
And what jumped out to me is you've been holding
people under fifty points in that stretch. You give up
sixty eight tonight, which is by far the most you've
given up since that one and three start.

Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
But how much is your defense? What's what's doing.

Speaker 10 (01:44:22):
There's no doubt our number is fifty five, and if
you held on them at fifty five, we win ninety
percent of our games. Now tonight, that's a great team.
They scored sixty eight, but we scored seventy three. Now,
we don't usually score seventy three. Let's not get it twisted.
So our offense was pretty good tonight. I know have
good offense and good defense, so we'll take it.

Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
Thanks Taylor, we appreciate it.

Speaker 15 (01:44:39):
As for coverage, guys, appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
South Christian wins. It's seventy three sixty eight over Northview.
We got plenty more to come on the discount door
post game show right after this. This is the LMCU
high school basketball game of the Week on nine to
sixty one the game, So what is this?

Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
Sixty eight?

Speaker 3 (01:45:01):
Our final score tonight, South Christian defeats Northview.

Speaker 4 (01:45:07):
Behind twenty eight points from Carson Fiss. We'll get to
the final scoring recap in a moment. Jason Hutting alongside
Buck Gino. It was a game where South Christian led
the entire night. Buck They led by as many as
fifteen in the second quarter nor if he made a
couple of runs at him. But South just did enough,
even despite battling serious foul trouble, find a way to

(01:45:28):
win this game.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
Really a growth effort.

Speaker 4 (01:45:29):
We heard from Taylor Johnson after the game, he knows
how big of a win this is because of how
good the opponent was.

Speaker 5 (01:45:34):
Well, and we say it with the twenty four to nine,
we knew that this game was not gonna end in
a large lopsided fashion.

Speaker 2 (01:45:41):
We just didn't know how it was going to happen.

Speaker 5 (01:45:43):
But you know, as coach Johnson alluded to, I mean
a TVU on the glass it really helped them. But
also just getting more consistent shooting. You know, Brady Schwartz
ended up with twenty nine, but cam Ryans with eighteen.
Kind of went back and forth. There were some times
where he he wasn't around and then some time to
be really shined. But but I think that, you know, overall,

(01:46:06):
you know, just the consistent effort by South Christian really
was the key to their victory.

Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
They didn't have a lot of empty possessions. Dorthew ran pretty.

Speaker 5 (01:46:14):
Hot and cold, almost was able to pull off to
come back, but just not quite.

(01:46:44):
it's time to take a look at our MKD Funeral
Homes scoring summary, and we'll start out by doing our
team scoring by quarter. South Christian led this one eighteen
to nine after one quarter, northf you outscored the Sailors
twenty four second as South had a four point lead
at the break, South extended it back to an eight
point lead after three thanks outscoring Northview nineteen fourteen in

(01:47:07):
the third, and Northview does outscore South Christian twenty one
to seventeen in the final eight minutes, but it's not
enough for the Wildcats. Our final score South Christian seventy three,
Northview sixty eight. And Buck Gino will take us now
through the individual scoring.

Speaker 5 (01:47:21):
Well for Brady Schwartz, the leading scorer of everybody for
northwo with twenty nine this for South Christian Coast behind
with twenty eight, cam Ryans for North View with eighteen,
Ike Scroton Moore with thirteen for the Sailors, Kemper with
ten for the Sailors, and also Hitibu with ten for
the North Few Wildcats and.

Speaker 4 (01:47:42):
Even Austin Burges just getting into the double figure scoring category.
The sophomore had twelve in this game. I thought he
was huge, especially in the first half when vis sat
for so much time with that third personal foul. Our
final scoring summary brought to you by m Katy Funeral

(01:48:26):
what are you thinking?

Speaker 5 (01:48:28):
Well, I mean, we did it en up during football season.
Let's just do it again during basketball season. Cars and
Biss twenty nine points. And yeah, remember, I mean he
didn't play almost the entire I mean more than half
the second quarter, and he was also out for a
time in the second half with the foul trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
So if he played a full.

Speaker 5 (01:48:46):
Thirty two minutes, I mean, boy, he could have had
almost forty. But instead he has twenty nine points and
he is our Uptown Cheapskate Player of the game.

Still plenty more to come on the discount door postgame show,
we're gonna have our play of the game. We'll also
look ahead to next week's matchups here on ninety six
point one the game, and look forward to the state
tournament in boys basketball, which starts.

Speaker 3 (01:49:33):
In just six days. This is the LMCU High School
Basketball Game of the Week. On ninety six point won
the game. We'll be right back South Person sixteen times
in its.

Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
Last seventeen games, now seventeen and four on the season,
with just one game left to play it. We'll be
here at South Christian High School Friday night against Whalen,
and a South win would mean a shared Okay Gold
title between the Sailors and the team they beat tonight,
Northview seventy three to sixty eight. The final twenty eight
from Carson Vis, Jason Hutton, and Buck Gino wrapping up

(01:50:12):
the discount door postgame showing Buck. One thing that really
jumps out to me about South Christian as it has
progressed throughout the season and become a legit state title
contender and Division two is the play of Ike skroton
Bor and how he's just getting better and better every week.
He had thirteen points the first half tonight. I think
he's been outstanding for them, and every game he seems.

Speaker 5 (01:50:33):
To get better well, and Coach Jimeson talked about defensively,
you know, that's how they're gonna win ball games. They
can keep teams under fifty five. Clearly tonight that didn't happen.
But that's also a good, very good North View team.
But Ike Skrotenbor our defensive player of the game at
least four blocks.

Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
I probably didn't count all.

Speaker 5 (01:50:53):
Of them correctly, but at least four that I know of,
so Ike skroton Bor gonna be a key cog in
this South Korea team if they want to make a
long run to Breslyn.

Speaker 4 (01:51:02):
He also had a pretty impressive two points during that
run that put the Sailors up twenty four to nine
in the second quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Let's hear all our play of the game sounded in bounds.

Speaker 4 (01:51:11):
It comes to Brady's Swartz sworts to Ryan's Ryan puts
it on the floor, checked by Plume. Nice pass for Hitibu,
Patibu block by scroton Bore. The South student section love it.
Here comes Carson miss miss behind the back dribble to.

Speaker 3 (01:51:24):
Ike Scroudmore for the dunk, and that's gonna, of course
a David chan of time out. Halfway through the first quarter,
it's ten to two South Christian and Ike Scrotenbor has
been active on both ends.

Speaker 2 (01:51:37):
The big dunk.

Speaker 4 (01:51:39):
Ike scrod Bore thirteen in the first half. Played well
on both ends, did battle follol trouble, as did pretty
much everybody that checked in tonight, but South Christian gets
it done.

Speaker 3 (01:51:47):
Seventy three sixty eight.

Speaker 4 (01:51:48):
The Sailors now one went away from sharing the ok
Gold Conference title buck Gino. A week from tonight, Brett
Bakia will return to this very chilly West Michigan from
his nice little vacation in Florida, and you and him
will be calling a big one on the Lake Shore.
West Catholic Girls at Muskegan. West Catholic entered the night

(01:52:12):
at seventeen to two. They're looking at Division two and
making a run Miskegan. Yeah, they're chasing five hundred right now,
but they've been playing without their two best players since December.
If they can somehow get c. C. Bonner and Mariah
Saint back, or even one of them, they'll have a
chance to at least make some noise in Division one.

Speaker 3 (01:52:31):
That should be fun next Tuesday night.

Speaker 5 (01:52:32):
Well, and you talk about Muskegan, you know, chasing five hundred.
Of course, with their two players, the two best players
out of the lineup since December, that does put a
dent in it. But you also know that they're not
gonna make excuses, and they play a very tough schedule.
Thinking those players are gonna be there, but I think
Wes Catholic obviously one of the best teams in Division two,

(01:52:55):
and it's gonna be kind of like tonight, right, So
you're playing a team that's one team the Division two
one team that Division one.

Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
It's a great way to prepare for the tournament. So
that should be a fun game as well.

Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
And then next Friday night, Brett and I will be
at a boys district final to be determined.

Speaker 3 (01:53:11):
It has not been announced yet.

Speaker 4 (01:53:12):
We'll talk that over, think about the matchups and let
everybody know as soon as we know where we'll be.
So it's gonna get busy because then boom, we're in
a girls districts boys region is the final.

Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
It's March.

Speaker 4 (01:53:23):
It's the best time of year, but it starts in
February and it starts in just six days.

Speaker 3 (01:53:28):
Well, Buck, I had a blast, man, Yeah, a lot
of fun.

Speaker 5 (01:53:31):
We're gonna I keep telling Brett, we're gonna have to
do this during football season and he's gonna you're gonna
have to let him borrow TK, He's gonna have to
let you borrow me. But no, it's a great time.
Happy to do it, and boy, a great game for
us to do our first broadcast together.

Speaker 4 (01:53:48):
Special thanks to South Christian Athletic director David Cool for
taking care of us tonight. Always treated extremely well at
South Christian thanks to Sailor's head coach Taylor Johnson a
lot of help this week and pro for the broadcast
and then joining us on the post game, as well
as David Channa. I mean, two outstanding young head coaches
in this David Channa always more than willing to help

(01:54:09):
out in any way he can. And I'll tell you what,
Northview is going to be a tough out when we
get to next week. It's a really good team, really
well coached team. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
So for joe eron buck Gino, my name is Jason Hutton,
reminding you once again tonight's final score.

Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
South Christian seventy three, Northview sixty eight. Have a great night.
