April ninth started well. The Koug's got a warm welcome
back to campus yesterday after their loss to Florida, AH
heartbreaking sixty five to sixty three. Cougar's Brass played Cougar
Fight song and coach Calvin Sampson was there and he

(00:27):
said they'll be back, you know, you know they will
be of course they will. Hey, some changes at HISD.
Teachers pay will soon be based on student performance. It's
going to start up next year. Teachers will be evaluated
through the TES system, that's the Teacher Excellence System.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
They're going to be looking at quality.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Of instruction, student achievement, campus action plan planning, and professionalism,
and salaries will range from sixty four thousand to ninety

Now, Back in September, Meta launched its teen Account program
so parents would have more options to monitor their kids'
online activity. The latest changes teams under sixteen are going
to be blocked from using Instagram Live unless they get
parents' approval, and Meta will also extend the teen account
safeguards to Facebook and their messenger platforms. Weather today beautiful

(01:22):
sunny eighty two for the high. Tomorrow it'll be sunny
with a high of eighty six. Right now, it's fifty
seven in Uptown and Europe to date on sunny. Tell
me something good brought to us by our friends at
Goodwill Houston. Now, even though the Koog's lost to Florida,
they still got some really sweet news and that's with

(01:43):
a Z. They're still going to get their custom grills.
Yo Jeweler Johnny Dang and rapper Paul Wall are going
to make it happen. They've posted on Instagram. They played
with heart, grit, and pride. The game was a battle
till the final buzzle buzzer. They want to honor the
team because win or lose, real ones get recognized. I

(02:04):
love that they're going to get their grills, just like
the Astros got their girls. For sure the World Series wins.
So that's pretty exciting and very kind of Johnny Dang
and Paul Wall and the Koogs did. They just did
an amazing points two points. We'll be back, y'all, We

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I almost forgot it was back this weekend our Houston
Art Car Parade, And if you weren't aware, this is
our fun, unique parade, showcasing beautifully weird automobile artwork that
artists pour their hearts into. And what's even more fun
is that the paride has been going on so long
a new generation is ready to take over. For example,
artist Leah Lynch.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
She grew up in and.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Around her mom's Zebra art car, and Leah hasn't missed
a single her entire life. This year, she's submitting her
first official entry for the parade. It's her Pee Wee
the Frog and old green Toyota Corolla, covered in a
mosaic of frogs and features a giant crown on the top.
Leah is super excited about the upcoming parade, seeing her
community and all the established and new artists like her debuting.
It's a third annual Houston Arc Car Parade. Preak kicks

(03:02):
off at two pm this coming Saturday around Allen Parkway
in Downtown. Quick check of the weather this weekend dain't
sonny and right around eighty.

Speaker 1 (03:09):

Speaker 4 (03:11):
To be here.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah, it is. It's amazing.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Well, five Saint John High School Math team members were
at the prom when they got the good news. They
are one of nine finalist teams in their Math Works
Math Modeling Challenge. What they have to do is apply
skills they learn in the classroom into actual life events. Okay,
so their challenge this year has been the power grid

(03:34):
and how drastic swings in temperature could add some demand
to the grid. Now, they still have one final round
to win, and that round is April twenty eighth, and
if they do win it, the winning team splits get
this one hundred thousand dollars Sleek scholarship money.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
So go Saint John's students. Good luck to you.

Speaker 2 (03:57):

(04:17):
We learned it in our nearly impossible question at six
point forty this morning, potty training, and we're asking you
for your tips, your tricks.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
To be a success with the kids.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Heck, you might be changing someone's life today, Laura Hill.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Now what's it for you, Laura Hill?

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Troops And there's some things that you can buy called
tinkle targets. O, my god, on no way. And they
had a duck and a cow and all this and
you put them in the toilet and you look at
the boy and you say, sink the duck.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh, oh, I get it. Love that tinkle targets.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
There's another one when they when they were learning how
to go to the bathroom in the first place, you
bought the Mickey Mouse underwear.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
And you know you can't get Mickey wet. Oh that's right.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Oh, you know they were all concerned about that, So
off to the bathroom you are.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I think the duck. Wow, that is all means. I
love it. And there's no candy involved, right, it's not
a bit that is excellent wow. But it doesn't need
to be Mickey.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
It could be any of their favorite characters that you
don't want to get them wet, right, yep? Yeah, oh, Laura,
that is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing and that.
So what age did you start? Like?

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Was it around two? Is that about good for you know?

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Oh no, maybe eighteen months?

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Oh okay, all right, I'm telling you what good It's
a good idea.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
I love it, genius. Thank you for sharing.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Love bye, appreciate you, Laura. Let's head over to Crosby
and speak with Katie potty training.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
What was your strategy? Were you a success or did
it take forever?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Pretty much?

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Mine were not very difficult, think goodness. And I actually
had three, two of which were twins, So I got
really lucky in that part of it. So I didn't
have to do a whole lot. At my mom's every
time they would go number two in the potty, they
would get candy, and so up until this day almost
and they're nine and twelve, sometimes when they go do that,

(06:24):
they'll go and get candy after.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Ah. I love that. So it's like have Love's dog.
You do this, you get kidded hit a reward. Was
that your mom's idea?

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Well? Yeah, that part was it her at Grandma's house
for sure? The best they were always going number two
in the party.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
They would save it right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Katie That is adorable, what a great story. Got What
was the candy that they loved so much?

Speaker 5 (06:55):
It just depended on what it was. A lot of
times it was just a couple of EM and LMS
or whatever like. It wasn't a lot. It was just
whatever was in the candy jar at that time.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Katie, that is a great strategy.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
I love that change you so much for Sharon, and
we're glad that you listen to Sonny. All Right,
