Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday naightty nine point one, Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony. We've
got Houston's Best Variety of the eighties nineties and today
seven fifty three now, and we've got the three things
you need to know to.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Get your What Day Friday? Even Dane sounds so good.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Norman twenty seventh, Yes, and opening day for the Astros.
It's going to be a rainy day. I mean we
lucked out with spring break, lucked out with the Rodeo.
Rain had to come sooner or later. Today and tomorrow, yepo.
These are the days. The gates actually open at Dikin
Park at noon for street Fest. We'll see how that goes.
First pitch at three ten against the Mets. We've got
(00:39):
the new home run train, new look going to be
revealed today. We're also going to hear from Wilder Blue
singing the national anthem. Larry Derker thrown out the first pitch,
playball call by Astro's legend Jose Cruz.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Now the rain, let's talk about it.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Governor Greg Abbott has activated the state emergency response resources
ahead of the storms that are headed our way. Flash
flooding is a potential threat, and he is encouraging us
to please pay attention to weather alerts and remember turn around,
don't drown. Now we are in a flood watch zone
right now. Actually it started at seven and it will
(01:15):
go through tomorrow afternoon at one. We've got lots of
rain moving in tonight and tomorrow especially, and cooler temperatures
seventies only today and tomorrow, and then we'll be back
up in the eighties this weekend. Today, as a matter
of fact, we're not even going to get much higher
than seventy. Right now, it is sixty five in Uptown
and you're up to date on sunny Tell me something good.
(01:37):
Brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston Astros
opening Day to Day and top prospect Cam Smith. He
has been rewarded with a roster spot at just twenty
two years old. Wow, he's going to be starting in
right field today now. The Astros say that his mother,
Stephanie Hosa, raised an incredible kid, raised him as a
single mom, traveled to all his ballgames. He's the one
(02:00):
who got to deliver the good news. The Astros called
her up, put her on a plane and she was there. Actually,
they talked to each other every morning, so she put
her her location on silent and then when she got
right outside the ballpark, Cam called her like he does
every morning, and he goes, Mom, where are you? And
she was right outside the locker room. She says, I'm
(02:21):
here and she walks in.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
So cool.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
They give each other a hug. She was able to
deliver the good news. It's just an amazing story. I
love that. So looking forward to seeing top prospect Cam
Smith playing with the Astros. Game time three ten this afternoon.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Producer Anthony Dane, This is awesome.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
We know him well, TikTok Footy, Keith Lee. He gave
Houston Eatery some pretty great reviews when he was visiting here. Well,
this past Tuesday, Keith and his family visited Janelle Prater
in her Paarland.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Dessert shop, The Puddery.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Oh he put them on the map. You know that fresher.
The Puttery was previously a business that had been struggling,
then saw a massive revival following Keith's visit back in
November of twenty three. Well, this past Tuesday, Keith returned
and congratulated Janelle and opening a second location, and also
thanked her for consistently shouting him out on the Keith
Lee effect and then to say thank you, Dean Heath
get to the Putury a whopping fifty thousand dollars. Heath
(03:14):
says the owner of the Puttury is one of his
favorite people he's met so far. He's honored to be
able to call her a friend and a reminder. When
he first tasted all the food, he called their desserts immaculate,
ordering a nine out of ten for the shop's original
and strawberry banana pudding. So great job Keith Lee for
giving back. And if you want to know what the
hype is about, it's the pudery out in Peerland.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Is a man I just love the name. I know, right, okay.
Galveston is a tourist magnet, I mean spring break.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Thousands of people come on out there to have a
fun all the time. But what about if there was
a mascot? Yeah, something that you can.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Snop on towelsand t shirts? I mean why not? So
lots of people started giving ideas.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Some ideas include the Pirates, the Galveston Giant honoring boxer
Jack Johnson, the friendly seagull, ghost wolves, an animal that's
been making an appearance out there, sea turtles, giant crab, Tillman,
Fertita's yacht.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Oh, come on, a dirty flip.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Flop become interesting, salty Sally and I did not know,
Anthony that Ball High School's got Toughy the Tornado.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
As their mascot.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Okay, so let's keep thinking of ideas we'd guy.
Speaker 2 (04:25):

the eighties nineties. And today this floodwatch goes on until
(05:23):
one tomorrow afternoon.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
We have some heavy rain expected. We could have some
flash flooding.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Now the heaviest rain's going to move in tonight into tomorrow, okay,
but then by tomorrow afternoon things will clear up. We're
getting cooler temperatures, that's what it's all about. We're only
going to go up to seventy today. Right now it
is sixty five in Uptown and we're talking about the
Astros opening day to day.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I mean, we've got this street fest plan for New Right.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Who knows what's going to happen, but the askers are
taken on the mets really looking forward to Cam Smith.
He's going to be playing right field, twenty two years old,
top prospect, so it's going.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
To be amazing.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Asking you what you're really excited about. And we've got
Linda calling in from the east Side. Now, Linda, you're
close to dyke In Park, but what are you really
excited about for the Astro season.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I am excited about the Astro I believe it or not.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
You're going to think I'm crazy as all get out,
but I see the game better off.

Of the TV. That's You're not the only one who
feels that great point. I do. Yep, I agree with
you on that name. What do you think of the name?
Beer's a lot less than seven better beer? What do
you think of the name of the stadium.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
When you know everybody's got their opinions mainly go with
the play things like that. Yeah, I was calling it
Daycon and then that people are like, no, it's dyking.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
And I'm still calling it minime exactly exactly. And I wonder.
We're wondering what you think they're going to do with
the train.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
It had the Minute made Oranges in it.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
You know, it wasn't that awesome? I love watching that train. Yes,
I hope they don't call it the you know they
can Train, because what is it?
Speaker 3 (07:03):
We have women underwear that have that name and it's
just not good.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Oh, I did not know that. I didn't either, Interesting, Linda,
You've got us.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yes, Well, they're supposed to reveal what they're going to
do with that train this afternoon and as they take
on the Mets. So we just have to say go
Astros absolutely matter.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
In fact, our HR department and everyone. Yesterday they always
send out a reminder remember everybody wear their Astro shirts tomorrow.
I love that. Yes, we're reminding all of us. And
if the rain would just stay.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
