Sunday ninety nine point one, Dana in the Morning and
producer Anthony and we've got Houston's best variety of the eighties,
nineties and today with the three things you need to
Know to get your Wednesday, May twenty eight started. We
are number one Houston is in home building. In the
first two months of twenty twenty five, Houston had over
eleven thousand new building permits issued over thirteen hundred newly
(00:22):
constructed homes. Dallas coming in at number two. Travelers, listen up.
Today's the day Southwest Airlines new charges go into effect.
They're going to start charging for check bags on new
reservations today. Fees will be thirty five bucks for the
first bag, forty five dollars for a second bag. And
after one hundred and sixty five thousand people lost power
(00:45):
from those wild thunderstorms, which by the way, we're having some.
We're having quite a lightning start right now around town.
My goodness, Center Points Reliability program, well, it's being questioned
by some, especially in the Umple area, as vegetation growth
around the power lines still seems to be a problem.
Center Point is saying you can now upload a picture
(01:06):
of your problem and register it as it needs to
be fixed. And we do have some lightning storms around
right now and rain. It's going to be like this
throughout the day. Seventy percent chance cooler temperatures. Today's high
only eighty one right now, seventy two raining in Uptown
and Europe to day on sunny. Tell me something good
(01:27):
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. What
a way to celebrate your birthday by sharing your birthday
with everybody. For the past three birthdays, HPD Officer Sheldon

across Houston. He started this nonprofit called Farah Good Deeds.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
She's a Hustonian who has become the first person to
complete the Boston Marathon with double hip replacements thanks to
her determination and her surgeon, doctor Greg Stocks from the
Orthopedic Hospital. He knew she had this incredible intense love
for running and he wanted to help her make her
(03:42):
dreams come true, so he helped with her recovery.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
They worked super duper hard.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
A year after her surgery, she started prepping for the
Boston Marathon.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Now he even flew to Boston to support her. Oh wow,
bish shit.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Probably the fastest for any person with double hip replacement
under four hours.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
So what's up next for Carrie?
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Well, she wants to do a marathon in Utah and
then eventually one in London.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Do it.

point one Houston's Best Friday the eighties nineties. And today
I'm dating with producer Anthony talking about road tripping, because
seventy five percent of us said we plan on at
(04:30):
least one road trip this summer. And we're asking you
what are your road trip plans? And we have got Philip,
who lives near Downtown works at the Manilka Collection.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Philip, are you on a road trip right now?
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Not right now, but we're going to start one on Friday,
and it's going to be a cross country road trip
where my husband and I are going to go from
Houston to New Orleans, New Orleans to Atlanta, Atlanta to
Dollywood and then Dollywood to Chicago.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
WHOA, that's incredible. Now are you a so super planner
or do you just wing it? Tell me a.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Little bit of column A a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Column that I like that.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
So have you plotted the barbecue restaurants for the food
of your choice along the way?
Speaker 4 (05:15):
We have yet to get to that part. You know,
here in Houston we're pretty spoiled when it comes to food.
I know we have to be pretty discerning.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I know, it's so true.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
That's why you've got to plot it or else you'll
be disappointed.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
This is true right now. Also, what about where you're
going to stay? Have you do you found? Have you
found this city?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Well, obviously you're going to drive all the way to
New Orleans and stay there, right right?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yeah, So, I mean we've found like a hotel and
we're saying with friends as well along the way. It's
the best way to kind of keep it manageable in
terms of a budget.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Exactly exactly how long is the trip going to be.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
We're taking our time, so we're just staying in each
city at least two days and then so this amounts
to it just about a week.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Oh that's so cool.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I hope you guys have the best time. Do you
bring snacks or do you stop at fast food?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
We tend to stop along the way, but I don't
know what this drive is gonna look like all throughout,
so maybe we will have to up our snack game.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah. You know, we used to bring goldfish in the big,
big goldfish thing, and the problem with that I couldn't
stop eating it.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
So I said no first leg of the exactly. That
is so much. I'm so jealous of you. I know
you guys are going to have the best time.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Oh, thank you. We're really looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Excellent. And you know you can take us with you.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
You download the iHeartRadio app, we can go with you, Okay, Philip,
that would be so fun for us, too.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Good to know.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Thank you so much, all right, love, Thanks so much
for calling in. We appreciate you listening.
