Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony at
seven point fifty three now with the three things you
need to know to get your Thursday, June fifth started well.
City council was trying to have a city budget meeting
yesterday when some unwelcome guests showed up. YEP protesters were there.

(00:22):
You can hear them, and the Mayor witt Meyer.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Time out.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
You've made your point, please sit out, And I would
ask the leadership to please show some leadership because.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Yeah, it went on for about thirty minutes.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
They just didn't want to leave, so they had to
adjourn the meeting and they'll pick it up another time.
Some of our favorite snacks like Dorito's and Cheetos and
Eminem's and ice cream and other candies could soon have
warning labels in Texas. The new bill, if Governor Greg
Abbott signs it, we'll put warning labels on junk food

(01:02):
prepared snacks. It would become effective twenty twenty seven. From
the chemicals and the dies that could be bad for
our health. And if any of you have dabbled in AI,
it could be pretty cool. I downloaded the chat gpt app. Recently,
there's an HISD first grade school that got the kids
involved in AI. The teacher asked the students what they

(01:25):
wanted to be when they grow up. All right, One
was a scuba diver, another wanted to be a YouTube
or another a neurologist.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
These are first graders.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
She took pictures of the kids, entered it into AI
and out came pictures of them.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
In their future career.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
The kids were blown away.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Parents were also very impressed, very cool. The kids absolutely
loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Whether today it's going to be partly sunny, we're going
to go up to ninety. We have a thirty percent
chance of a shower. Right now, it's seventy six in Uptown,
and you're up to date on sunny. Tell me something
good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
Not one, not two, but three umble ISD baseball teams
are headed for the hostible state title this week in

(02:08):
round Rock Kingwood a Taskasita and Kingwood Park, and the
athletic director, Mike Ekern, is so excited about this. He's
filled with pride and nerves, and he says he hopes
the kids are more in control of their emotions than
he is. The district already has some state titles in cheerleading,
the Summer Creek Girls basketball one also Kingwood High School softball,

(02:31):
So congratulations to humble ISD producer Anthony and Dane.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
This is awesome.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
Speaking of that moment, I'm hot off the the Kingwood
Lady Mustangs softball team bringing home their first ever state title.
The Kingwood Boys baseball's iron taken their first title since
two thousand and five. They managed to defeat Dripping Springs
in the state semifinals. Now headed to the six A
Division two state champ game, the Mustangs will be facing
off against defending state champs Tomball. It's going to be
an all Houston area showdown this weekend. Head coach Michael

(02:58):
Oro says, it's awesome. It's going to stay in Houston,
but we'd love for it to stay on fifty nine
or sixty nine rather than in Northwest Houston, so hopefully
we can get the job done. Kingwood definitely has the momentum,
so good luck Mustang's this coming Saturday, trying to bring
that title back to Kingwood.

Speaker 1 (03:12):

this is when one thousand active duty members of the
US military will be coming.

Ships will be coming to the port and the.

US Navy Captain Seth Eisenmannger, he is the top planner
for this big event. He said, We're going to get
to learn of all about the military and see it
up close. There's going to be ship tours, community service projects,
school visits. Kids are going to learn about robotics K
nine demonstrations as well. Yesterday they met with Mayor Whitmyer
to explain to Mayor what they can expect from this

(03:47):

Best variety in the eighties, nineties and today, Dan in
the Morning and producer Anthony on a sunny start to
our Thursday. We're not ruling out a shower today. We
could have at a thirty percent chance. We're going up
to ninety Right now, it's seventy six. I think a
lot of it depends on our commute, what we do
when we.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
First get home from work.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
We learned in our nearly Impossible question over fifty percent
of us have a drink. That's because in Houston, the
average commute time is like thirty to forty five minutes,
and you're just going.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
If your commute is even longer, you just need to relax.
So we're asking you kind of your schedule that you've
gotten used to over the years when you first get
home from work. Anthony and I get home close to
the lunchtime, so having a cocktail.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Probably wouldn't work for us.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
So I go, I eat my lunch, then I take
a nap, and Anthony goes and walks Lily and does
a little running and some exercising and has goldfish and
then works some more all afternoon until dinner time. So
what is your schedule when you get home from work
that calms you down. Now we've got Jane calling in
from Katie, you're you're working in compliance. First of all,

(05:21):
how long is your commute?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
An hour?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Whoa?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
An hour to get to work in an hour and
sometimes an hour and a half to get home.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Man. Wow, So after a long day working compliance, Jane,
what's the first thing you do when you get home?

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Jane?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, what's all go to outfit? Because you're all dressed up?
What's your go to outfit?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Oh? Yeah, yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Okay, so you get all comfy?

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Then what do you do?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Then? I start making?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Okay, well a lot of you know Anthony's big making
dinner with a glass of water.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Ye both.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Do you have a big family that you're cooking for
when you get home?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
No, not anymore. We're empty nesters. But you know it's
just me and my husband.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Oh that's so nice. Okay, what's for dinner tonight? Do
you have your your your food already?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I'm gonna make Enlada tonight.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Oh right, dang, I think your hubby's gonna be pretty
happy with that.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Last night we just had a skinnish salad and some
grilled chicken.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
They're still nice.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
So you make it sound so comfy after a long
day getting to your T shirt and shorts and then
Janie's gonna cook for us.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Ie, I know, we love that.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Jennie.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
What's your husband's name, Hector? Does he ever cook for you?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
He used to, and now he gets home late, so
he does it.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I see. Well, I'm glad that you got such a
happy kind of a schedule when you get home from work.
And that's a long commute, boy, over an hour can
be tough.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yes, yes, I hate Houston traffic.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
I know, I know, Jennie. Well, keep us with you
in your car.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Okay, okay, you takee bye bye.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Appreciate you, Jeannie. Let's head over to Katie and speak
to the bug reaper Tony.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Are you dealing with lots of traffic on the way home.
I know you're going all over.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
Town, Katie Conroe bringing the woodlands to the land. So
when I get home, I change, I put the dogs
suit down, let them out, and then I'll go to
Pludo TV and I will watch the Taxi or Becker,
the old time shows that are still funny.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Oh wow, yeah huh. And what about food?

Speaker 3 (07:39):
What about food?

Speaker 6 (07:41):
I don't need it later on?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Okay, wow, that good.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
I started three in the morning. I'm usually done by
ten in the morning.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Okay, all right, so you're like us, it's kind of
a weird when you get home. You don't have this
the typical type of schedule, right most.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
People say is starting when I'm getting home exactly.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Wow, I had no idea you take a nap at all, Tony.

Speaker 6 (08:05):
Sometimes we bought.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Your TV exactly.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
That is crazy. And how long have you been doing this?

Speaker 6 (08:11):
Thirty one years?

Speaker 1 (08:12):
May you know that that's you just have your schedule.
It works for you.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
It's not like everybody could do that, Tony.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
You have a good day, stick around
