Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one day in the morning and
producer Anthony We've got Houston's best variety of the eighties,
nineties and today and the three things you need to
know to get your Monday, April twenty first started. We
learned earlier this morning the Vatican reporting that the Pope
has died. He made a surprise Easter appearance at Saint
Peter's Square yesterday and then he had been dealing with

(00:26):
double pneumonia, was recovering.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
He was eighty eight years old. He became Pope back
in twenty thirteen.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Okay, So Toyota Center all decked up for Game one
of the playoffs last night, lifted off always us all over,
fans all around, including the Texans fans. Oh yeah, they
got shout outs from the Texans, the Astros, the Dynamo,
and three Texans actually showed up for the game last night,
Tank Dell, CJ.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Stroud, Joe Mixon. Unfortunately, Game one.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Went to Golden State. It's a best of seven series.
I don't score ninety five to eighty five. Game two
Wednesday at Toyota Center. It'll be at eight point thirty.
Your weather today, we still have that rain some strong
storms around. Quite a lightning display around here in the galleria.
We're going to go up to eighty two. Should start
tapering off right now. It's seventy five in Uptown and

(01:17):
Europe to date on sunny. Tell me something good brought
to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
How fun would this be? Hi?

Speaker 1 (01:25):
At Austin High School Maritime Studies, students are headed on
a five day journey experience at sea. Nineteen students aboarded
Carnival Breeze in Galveston recently for this unique learning series.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean, this is so cool.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
They're going to key operational areas in the ship. It's
the first of its kind journey and Chevron Shipping is
so proud to be a part of enabling this opportunity
for these kids and with commercial shipping industry, they're learning
what it looks like. Luar Vasquez, one of the students
picked set. He was so excited to learn more. Oh yeah,

(02:03):
cool program. Austin High School's Maritime Studies producer Anthony Dan.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
We love seeing these stories, especially with Easter just happening.
Our amazing woodlands firefighters recently sprang into action to save
some ducklings truck one O eight was dispatched over to
the Panther Creek Village Center. Some concerned neighbors had reported
that three ducklings had fallen into a storm drain. We
know how amazing our first responders are always coming through.
The firefighters were able to successfully retrieve all three ducklings,

(02:29):
successfully reuniting them with their feathery parents. The department posted
a sweet picture one of the firefighters down on his
stomach with his head down in that storm drain, all
of it going down on Saturday. So an amazing outcome,
all right before we headed into easter. So great job
Woodlands Fire Department saving the lives of these three sweet ducklings.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
An Eastern miracle really risen, all right. The Astros finished
up their three games series against San Diego yesterday with
the best promotion ever. Last year, Jose Altuve took off
his shoe and revealed a barefoot foot.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So you know what they did.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
They came up with Jose al Toovey socks, his face
all over them, Jose, Jose, Jose all over them. Yesterday,
the first ten thousand to show up got those Jose
alto vey socks.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Let's go super cool now I found them.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
If you don't get them in an Astros promotion, you
can go to Claremont Clothing dot com.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
They're twenty five bucks. Great gift idea. Yeah right, just
thinking of that.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
As the Astros begin their new series starting tonight against
Toronto at seven ten, go Astros listen. We always have
our tell Me Something Good stories up for you at

(03:54):
question what do you miss most about being a kid?
It's right there at Sunny ninety nine Houston. It was
our nearly imposed question this morning, and it was the
answer to our question was having to.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Pay for stuff, not paying bill? I know.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
And we're asking you what do you miss most about
being a kid? And we've got Jeremy calling in from
Cyprus in education. Jeremy, what do you miss most about
when you were a kid?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
I missed the toys?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
What kind of toys were you? Were you like a uh?
The truth I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Going to age myself like Star Wars toys.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Oh yeah, Saturday Mornings, Bugs Bunny, yes, and Cereal.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Right.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah, you didn't have to count the calories.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
You didn't have to work out what was your favorite
Star Wars toy?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Probably the Millennium Falking had the big Millennium Falking.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Wow, that's awesome. Are you excited about the new Star Wars?
Isn't there a new Star Wars movie coming out in Oh? Yeah, there's.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah. Probably it's so good, but not like it was
back then.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Do you have any kids now?

Speaker 4 (05:01):
I do have an eighteen year old and sixteen year old.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh, and so how do you like, how do you
look at your childhood compared to theirs today?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
They have phones.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
I think we didn't have phones.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
They have phones, and so how do you deal with
that because quite a distraction might make it harder to parent.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
I mean, you try to limit it when you can,
but that's an addiction for them. I mean it's hard.
I don't know, it's hard to code it.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, yeah, that's it.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
That's a it's a whole new feature that was brought
into the lives of us parents, these phones.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
And what about you with the kids at school. How
do you deal with that?

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, they're not supposed to have it, but I mean
apparently there's some law and they're trying to p public
the laws where no school's going to have phones next
four years.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
So man, we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Right though.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
At our East Your party yesterday, I was looking around
the room with Jeremy, and I noticed my husband and
my son both scrolling on their.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Phones, and I was like, do I say anything or
should I just zip it?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
You?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Being an educator, what what should I have done?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
You'd have to positively frame trying to get them to
do what you want them to do. That's what you
do in education.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So well said, so diplomatic. All right, I'll take that
into account.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
I'm not going to tell you what I did, but
I will take that into account for the future.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Jeremy, yours make positively?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yes, positively, Dean, come on good, Jeremy.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I hope you have a great day. Thank you for
making our morning so fun.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Thank you guys for sure
