Speaker 1 (00:01):
I'm Data with producer Anthony on Sunday ninety nine point one.
We've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties, and
today and the three things you need to know to
get your Wednesday, June fourth started, well, how do we
want our tax dollars spent? According to a survey out
of over just about one thousand Ustonians from the Kinder
Institute at Rice University, this is what they want. Not

(00:23):
so much safety. That's on the list, But first we
want excuse me, infrastructure, roads, drainage and the power grid fix.
Then police, then homelessness. City Council will consider this as
they approve a budget this month. America's ten most livable
destinations that don't require a six figure salary. Texas comes

(00:43):
out on top for affordable liverable cities, Laredo and McCallan
at top two.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Haiti's on the list seventeenth.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Sugarland number thirty one, also League City eighteen and Paarland
twenty one, and Texas Tech beat Oklahoma in the Women's
College World Series semi finalists first time they make it
to the finals.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
The score three to two.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Best of three championship series begins tonight at seven Texas
Tech Faces Texas Wyoh, that's exciting, incredible series. Weather today,
fifty percent chance rain going up to eighty nine right now,
seventy six in uptown and eure up to date.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I'm sunny.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston Well. Jeff Pavlock has been a Houston
firefighter for sixteen years. He says he loves it. There's
nothing better than helping others. But when he's off duty,
he serves the community in a very different way. He
owns with his family Peach Creek Country Market in Wharton County.

(01:43):
It's at forty six forty three Highway US fifty nine
North in Hungerford, Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Never even heard of Hungerford, Wow, but it's in Wharton.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
He says he loves selling peaches at his family run market.
Family is everything. He's got two kids they help selling.
His entire family is all there helping to sell his
peaches and all his produce. He says, you're not a
customer when you come by your family.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Isn't that so?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Love that that keeps some kind of grounded and feeling happy.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Producer Anthony Dane this is awesome. There's a new attraction
coming to our beloved Chema Boardwalk. According to a filing
with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Landry Seafood
House plans to build an entrance to a water park
at the former location of Joe's Crabshack. Ah I know it, well,
yeah we do. The project was filed on May thirtieth.
It was literally titled Convert Joe's Crabshack to a future

(02:34):
water park entrance building. Now they're expected to begin construction
on July first, and the COO says not to worry
the new addition will cause any other attractions to close.
All restaurant amusements will continue to remain open and get
excited because construction is expected to be completed by March
of next year, possibly in time for next year Spring break.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Dan, I love Rock the Dock. Everything that's right, Yeah right,
so no interruptions. It will go on at theinion.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
And the nine Best New Bars of twenty twenty five
list is out from Bonapetite and Benji Levitt's Rice Village
Cocktail Lounge.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Lee's got a prestigious mention on that list.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
It opened only in January, and it's already such a
loved feature out there. Bonapetite's two favorite cocktails at Lee's,
the Old Fashion and the Black Manhattan.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
The Windar by the Way was named after his mom.
I love it. I'm so good you can and it
looks so good too. It's just beautiful.

Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's best variety of the
eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony. I'm
talking about job interviews. How did you get your job?
How did it go? We've got Lloyd calling in from

(03:52):
the Midtown area. Now you are a supervisor for Meals
on Book cool.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
How did you get that job?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Well, basically what it was was working with special needs
for about twenty five years, and so we started delivering meals,
you know, we volunteered with the group and we delivered
meals to seniors and then I found out what a
location had, so I got on with them and I've
been with them for twenty three years.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Now, Oh, that's amazing, incredible.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
What is it about What is it about what you
do that just brings you so much joy?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Like was this something?

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Were you inspired by your mom or your grandma to
give back to the community like this?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Well, basically, to be honest with you, I've been working
with the community and mostly all my life with special needs.
I take them, we take them to the park, we
take them, they do volunteer stuff. And then I work
us work for the food banks where we take trailers
of food to food fair. And then I started working
with MFAs the Greater Houston. So I enjoyed doing what
I do. Uh, working with seniors. You know, it's so

(04:51):
much needed families and seniors out that we needed food.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You are what makes it work. Lloyd.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
That is amazing and I really enjoy it too, though, I.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Bet you do. You sound like a very joyful man.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yes, it's really joyful.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Well, I'm glad that you let us be a part
of your life. We appreciate you, Lloyd.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Thank you, Thank you keep doing what I'm doing. I love.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Oh, we got you, Lloyd. Thanks for making all right.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
I appreciate it. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Let's set up to Tom Ball and speak with a hairdresser.
Evet Yvett.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
You're a hairdresser. Do you own your own salon?

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
All right, so you must have a lot of people
who are like trying to get a job with you, right, correct.
What is the one thing that drives you crazy when
a prospective hairdresser comes to interview with you? Well, you
know what I mean, when they're wearing just like too much,
too much perfume.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
I mean, it's just overpowering.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Oh my god, I never would have thought of that either.
It's so true though, sure.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
And what is it about a prospective hairdresser that you love?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Like you're saying, this is the one I'm hiring them?

Speaker 1 (05:54):
You know, the personality that they are very open and
just ready to do what it is that they need
to for the job. Do you make them? Do you like,
have them do a hair cutting or a hairstyle just
to show Yes, Ah.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Very good, I love it. How many people do you
have working for you?

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Now? Bye?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Wow? Evet, amazing? Was this your dream to open up
your own hair salon?

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Well, good job you did it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
And I hope that sometimes you know, if we go
to what's the name of your salon.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
It's called hair designed by Evet. Wonderful love. I hope
you've got sunny going through all the speakers there. Yes,
thank you, that's excellent. Evett. Well, we thank you too
for listening. We appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's quite a story, have a good one, take care
of you.
