Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for Chilicoppy High School basketball action on the
home of the Cabs fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, a Dina Health System and Holler
Funeral Home.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good evening, everyone, and welcome inside lsb Hatt Memorial Gymnasium here.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Chilicoppy High School.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
I'm Shing Holmes alongside Greg Bigham, and tonight the Chilicoppy
Cavaliers welcome the comments from Central Crossing and what's a
makeup game?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
That was going to happen about a week ago.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
And some sickness ended up coming through the Central Crossing team,
so both teams agreed not to play on that night
and it got moved to hear and you know the
Chili Cooppye Cavaliers, Greg I guess is welcome the end.
The theme the night is the climb back to five
hundred coming in an eight to nine opportunity.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
You know, Central Crossing comes in at four and twelve.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
If I'm being honest when I turned the film on
that they're far more talented than four and twelve play
a really really good schedule. But nonetheless, the Chilicope team
winners of four out of five uh and went away.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
From even in the record at nine and nine.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Uh, got gotta feel good about the momentum the Cavaliers
bring in.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Pat told us the other night, Uh, you know, one
time they thought they could you know, twelve was kind
of a match number. They've been playing much better and
uh hopefully they can build on the other night that
you really got on a roll, played pretty well the
other night against the Western Brown.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
I think this will be a tougher contest.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Central Cross is not going to run up and down
the floor and fire up threes, play that up temple.
I don't think uh that that we saw the other night. So, uh,
you know again it's uh, you know, you play Friday night,
Saturday night, Monday night, you're back tonight. You play again
Friday night back in the fa C. So it's a
real busy week and uh hopefully these guys can maintain

(01:47):
some energy and keep that street going.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
You know, the very first thing I had in my
pregame notes to ask you when we were doing the
Western Brown game the other night, it felt like on
the call it was one of the faster, most up
and down you know, thanks you and I would know
more breaking the little conversation on the side and the
ball is one the other way. Boom boom boom, and
and I thought that favored Chilok Coaffee a little bit.
Now in a match up like tonight sent pracaust and

(02:11):
very athletic, you want to maybe pick your spots. But
do you feel the more this team's identity uh continues
to develop?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Do you do you like this team in the open court?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Do you like Coach Beard turning them loosen them from
getting up and down a little bit? Where's the perfect
tempo in your opinion for this Chilo Coffin Since first
six games, I would have said definitely no, But I think,
uh they've learned a bit.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
I think they've been under better control up tempo. You
know it can still you know, you know, you got
fifteen six year old kids. They love to run them
down on the floor right and dunk it and flip
those passes and stuff.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
That's fun.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
I think they're better at it. I still don't like
seeing them in it all out up tempo. I like recognizing,
Uh yeah, I like running the offense some.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
They've been moving the ball better.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Uh yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
I think you cared to see the matchup.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
If Kate Cox gets the right matchup, he can go
to the bucket against anybody, just can't force it.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
You know, I.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Repeat myself all the time. I like him stopping taking
the ten twelve foot jumper. H Cooper's been shooting the
ball well. I think he's recognized when he has it
when he doesn't a lot better.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Hammon's turned around and he can kill you outside.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
That's his strength, but he's had to play insights so
more and more, I think those roles have.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Developed Shane and.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
I kind of like to keep him not to be
in an all out up and ninety foot game where
we're totally out of control. I'm not out of control,
but total speed. I like to see a little bit
of organization to it. Run when you can, but not
all the time. Makes total sense. I don't know if
I answered that makes total sense.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
It really is.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
And it's kind of a you pick your spots, and
I agree with what you said. Is the years going on, Yeah,
I think they've recognized the right time on more of
a consistent basis. You know, you look at the schedule
to night. Coach Bears highlighted that twelve wins. What the
reason that twelve wins are so important? For people that
are not familiar, twenty two games in the high school season,
the twelve wins, that's that magic number to get you

(04:05):
to the winning season, which would be a big step
for this Chilicopy program. Obviously tonight with Central Crossing because
Great said, Friday night, still here at home with McLean
and fac play next Tuesday night, still at home with
Logan Elm and then finally Friday Saturday that following week
at Jackson at McLean to end the regular season. Taking

(04:26):
a look a little closer at tonight's matchup, Central Crossing
comes in averaging about forty points a game, gives up
about forty seven. Chili Coffee plays a little faster tenth O,
scoring almost fifty four game giving up about fifty two.
And you know, Greg, we talked about this earlier in
the year a couple of times when we played a
New Albany, when we played on Marysville, and I think
it's very important maybe for people that weren't with us

(04:48):
then that are listening in tonight. I know you've had
a lot of experience over the years with the Chili
Cooffee calls. We talk occ we talk a different level
of athlete, you know, I look here in the let's see,
Central Crossing is in the central division of the OCC.
That's what Olden Tangy Orange and Oland Tangy Liberty at
the top, Upper Arlington, Hilliar Bradley, we're familiar with Hilliar Davidson,

(05:09):
Dublin Talvin.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I mean again, you're talking about some high level athletes.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
They're kind of explained to the listeners for maybe people
tuning in for the first time the different level of
athlete that Jola Coffee's going to see here tonight compared
to what they might see.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
In league club.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
It depends on the OCC team.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
But you know, we've played with Marysville this year and
we've played with hillyar David and had the lead and
had a little trouble keeping their guards from going to
the bucket in that particular game, and they wound up
when about maybe eight points.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
So they've competed.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Last year.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I believe we went up and lost at Central Crossing,
but played right with him. But well, for instance, the
Central Crossing inside guy, they're they're big guy inside looks
to be what six ' four, about two hundred pounds.
He looks like an NFL linebacker, And so you got
that kind of athlete on the inside. I find that
most of the UCC teams handle the ball very well.

(06:01):
They played good defense. You just gave those numbers in
the forties, and I don't see a lot of OCC
teams old In Tansey Orange, which was top ten in
the state, we had to play in the tournament two
or three years ago. They had two Division one players.
That was a whole different experience. But for the most part,
I think they have good guard play, and they played
good defense, and I think they're all pretty well coached.

(06:23):
They play smart. They're not gonna throw the ball away
and they're not gonna and I think that's why you
see scores a lot in the forties and fifties in
the OCC when you look around.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Makes total sense.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Coming up on about the three minute mark here in
the pre game, we'll step aside for a quick time out,
and we'll be back with tonight's starting lineups.

Speaker 3 (06:39):

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Go ahead and get comfortable and get warm, and we
should have a really really good one for you, a
really athletic matchup. First on the starting lineup for the
comments of Central Crossing Andres Gordon, the six to two seniors,
their top player averages about thirteen a game. They'll be
joined by some great guard play Nathaniel Thompson as a junior,

(08:21):
Go Cartwright also a junior, Wyatt George a junior, and
Robert Taylor a senior. So again for Central Crossing, led
by Gordon Thompson, George Cartwright and Taylor. Jili Coifie will
run it out the way they normally do for Coach
Beard with Jan Miller running the point, joined in the
back court by Caden Cox and Cooper stone King, and

(08:43):
then forwards Andrew Hammond on Cam Badger again for Chill Coffee.
That's a Miller, Cox, stone King, Hammond and Badger.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Should be a good one. Stay with us. We're gonna

Welcome back to Chilicopy High School. Play your introductions here.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
First for central crossing as we mentioned before the break
there with Nathaniel Thompson, Layah, George go Cartwright, Robert.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Taylor and then Andreas Gordon.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
They'll turn the lights off in the student section. Good
student section here for a Wednesday night makeup game. As always,
one Miller at the point guard join in the back
court by Cayden Cox and Cooper Stout team and then
the forward Danville Hammond.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
And Cam Bidger toil Grave.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
We always talked about the first three minutes, but it
seems like Chila coffee. When they've been able to start fast,
they've been able to really play out in front of
player some confidence. There's been a couple of matchups against
teams maybe don't match them athletically where they've been a
little slow to settle win. I don't know if it's
an adjustment of you know, trying to figure out each

(13:35):
matchup and giving a kid a staff or where can
I take them off the dribble. But I think that's
going to be a big, big fasser here in the
early going. Because you know you can play this level
of opponent, the margin of area goes.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
I think you have to gauge a quickness.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
See what kind of quickness they were much They were
quicker than Washington Brown the other night.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
We'll see how they match up.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
But it doesn't look like as far as what Central
Crossing and talked about the big guys, but they're not
starting any big guys. We actually the Calves have a
height advantage I think only by one guy about sixty three.
The rest of the guys are all as you said,
about six one, six two four Central crossing.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
So maybe a chance to.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Yeah, why at George their jump centers listed right around
six three sixty four. The very talented Gordon goes around
sixty two sixty three on paper.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Mister Nick was making sure everybody has their uniforms tucked in.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
As always, a chili coatie and the home white there
with the furst of chili coathe above the number there
with the blue numbers and lettering Central Crossing, the royal
blue and silver.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
They're in the royal blue.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
They've got the central on top crossing across the bottom
there with the white number, and it's going to be
Cocks versus.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Georgian.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Cox gets up and backtops it and the Chilicothee Cavaliers
that first possession of the night. Moving left to right
here court side at the Thomas M. Cup at court
Chak Holmes, Greg Bigan excited to bring.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
It to you.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Cox has it up top, high high entry there to
badger flare screen for him and he'll try a right
corner three and he got it just like that. Andrew
him and gets Chila coffee. All feel good, start free nothing.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Cat Yeah, nice, nice offensive concept. Andrew was ready for
the shot, and that's.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
The spot in the corn.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Up comes Gordon here, high entry to Taylor wanted the
back door nicely defended by Chili cofee and now Gordon's
got it back draws a little bit of a trap
there to get the ball out of his hands.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
How Cartwright has it, he'll give way to Thompson.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Thompson comes in averaging right around ten a game, Cartwright
about eight. As I said in the pregame, Gordon their
top score around twelve or thirteen.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Left side.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
It's Thompson hits Gordon down underneath on a nice cut
shot up.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
On the rim. No good.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Gordon gets it back one more time inside three Cavaliers
left hand lay up up at He's head on the
arm and Gordon's gonna go to the line.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Gordon, they had to stop. They just get a multiple lines.
You know, we watching the JV game. They ran a
lot of backcuts from the wing. They had the ball
at the high post whatever they like to back cuts,
and they ran it there first time they ran at
Chilicothy covered it and later on they got.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
It loose underneath and got the offensive rebound.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
First free throw no good, and you Greg, you're spot on.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I've watched freshman JD varsity now run you know the
backscreen flare, screen reversal, and.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
They'll just build.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
They'll grind it side to side. Thought the freshmen and
JV kids were really well coached. Second free throw, no good.
So again they break for the Calves. You put their
top score on the line.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
He missed his boat, so.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Chilicothie gets it back up three nothing, It's Cock springs
it across the timeline left side. It's one Miller up
top badger Bager with the right hand dribble, give away
to Hamm and Hammon tries to penetrate back out the Miller.
Now it's right side Cocks, they'll bring it back out.
Good patience for the cavaliers. Now it's ham and Hamm
and he'll try to pull up jumper at the free

(17:00):
throw line in a nice salt touch. Shit's the roll
Andrew Hammond with all five five nothing chilikofe. How comes Thompson.
Thompson guarded by Millon. No'll give his way to Gordon
and they'll get set. Good denial there for Babery runs
it down, tried to throw it off of Thompson, but

(17:22):
stayed in bounce. Thompson got a box of central crossing.
Will cheap possession.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Now cart right up top.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Give the George now Gordon a little stop and go
move just a little weave action up top Alex George
Gordon hard to the right hand. Chilicothe doing a great
job closing off the metal on the dribble penetration. How
Taylor will try a right side free no good good
box out from stone King and we're gonna go the
other way on a foul I think Cartwright was trying

(17:51):
to tie him up there, and he'd reached in and
got a little bit too much on.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
And nice Tod mccooper, being strong with it, got that
long rebound off of miss three, and you're right central.
As soon as you get to rebound, they're all over you.
He did a nice job of being strong in three
to foul.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Looks like a two two one full court pressure here
from the commets. Miller and stone King in the back
court played a little passing catch. Now they get it
into hamm And in the middle he pivots and hits Cox.
Coxs will go hard to the baseline. The finger roll good,
Hayden Cox finishes up over the rim. Seven nothing chili
coffee outstand him start again here the season. Taylor has

(18:30):
it at the high right point. Now give the Gordon.
They'll play a little two man game picking pop. Taylor
thought about the three. Now gives the cart right, cart
right left side.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
It's Thompson.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Back up to Gordon again. They'll they'll they'll run that
backstreen flare screen. Gordon takes it off. The flare screen
looks to penetrate and I think you could an extra
step and he did turnover back.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
To Chilikathy and so far drag Chillikafi.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Has been really sounding the dribble gap, not letting the
dribble get to the missie.

Speaker 5 (18:59):
Here pat Yanlan he likes the foot pressure.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
But I know the other night in the last several
games sometimes he'll yell, don't gamble, don't gamble. We don't
And I think they've done a nice job of playing
good d without gambling.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Cocks into the scrim of Jerry here gives way to
hamm and they'll reverse at left side to Miller al
Miller on the hand off the Stone team. Nice down
screen there, Hamming, he'll get into mid range and a
little floater got up good. Andrew Hammond was seven until
a tipping nine nothing time out on the court at
the short one. We'll stay here and hey, Greg, the

(19:32):
hardest stripper, the better start. Really good defense on one
end of fishing offense on the other.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
I missed a shot. I hate to say that, but yeah,
three for three from the two point range. Andrew Hood
the three pointer, having had a turnover, made all their
shots you mentioned. Their defense has been solid night, giving
up gave up one offensive rebound but didn't get hurt
on the foul. So yeah, they're off to a great start,
just like they got off your grease start the other night.
But they're up nine to nothing.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Yeah, I feel like Central Crossing's had some opportunities.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Taylor had a pretty good look on the right one three,
their best player, Gordon got to the free throw line,
unable to convert early, so Jill Coothy takes the advantage
of some breaks there. For the most part, it's been
one and done. I think one offensive rebound for the
comments so far. So uh yeah, outstanding on both ends. Jilicothe,
coming off one of their best performance of the year,
picked right up and lead at nine to nothing here

(20:20):
in the early going to see now back to action here,
it's gonna be Central Crossing basketball. Left side is cart right,
gonna drop it in and try to go to Gordon
the post and Cox takes it away.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Nice job.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Cox pushes it out and open court. He's got a
little lane to the basket, gets it up on the rim.
No good out comes rovers with the with the rebound,
Gordon with a nice euro step, just got caught into
the rim a little bit, couldn't get it to go
out comes Chillicothe in a transition opportunity.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Cox into the mid range pull up elbow jumper.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
No good by for the loose ball, great extra effort
from from Badger, stone King.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
Top of the fool of the key. Three no good.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Outcomes Gordon for central crossing Gordon the tops gets to
the middle, reverse pivot steps through and then you're going
to fall for a travel.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Pretty good job there.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Cutting him off in the middle, ended up taking one
one too many steps and.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
That's three turnovers for Central across the cams.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
God good looks at maybe got a little bit of her,
but I'll say I can't if Kat and Cox can
get to the basket, let him go every time. He
just made a great move to the basket and couldn't
come up with a shot at home to go and
then missed.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
That three.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Commet supply little backcourt pressure. Now Miller has it across
the timeline hamm and has it up top. Going to
play two main game with Badger. I'll give way to
stone King. Stone King into the corner of Cocks. He
tried to go baseline and had to poke the way
gonna go out of bounds should be chilikaffee basketball on
the baseline.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
That's I'm out called by coach k Hill. I think
for central crossing, I think he talked about defense. He
wasn't happy with the easy open shots calves were getting
and that was a better defensive effort for the comments there.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Biller throws it all the way out top of the Badger,
hands at the cocks, who turns around the coach Beard
here on the other end to get the call.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Now the calves are ready to go top the key
entry there to Badger.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
He turns and looks to play one on one cut
off there by Balling's now a nice look underneath from
stone King to Badger, and Badger lays it in for
his first bucket of the evening and eleven nothing in Chilico.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
That was a nice assist with cooperstone King.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Thompson's got it on the left side.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
They're going to swing it all the way to the
right side and get that backscreen flare screen that we
talked about how they run Thompson off of a baseline screen.
Had a good look at the free They're going to
say the reason he was so open was because of
an illegal screen down on the baseline turnover back to
the caves. They they got Maulins there on the on

(23:02):
the screen for the foul.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
It's gonna be central crossing. Second foul. Stone King will
bring it up for the calves.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
He's guarded by Thompson, probably picks his dribble up now
in a little bit of trouble. Good job of Andrew
Hammond recognizing and coming back to help. Now he gives
back to stone King left corner. Jan Miller will try
a three no good fight for the rebound, and then
we're gonna have a loose ball file. I didn't let's
see who he's got a signal here? Think they got

(23:37):
Maulins again. So all of a sudden, Malins picks up
off the bench and picks up two quick fouls. Obi
under one more time for Chilicothe I throw it out
top bager.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
Byger gives way to Cox.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Now up top stone King, he thought about the three
for the inside out dribble.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Gives way to Miller. Act to stone King left corner.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Three no good Gordon with the rebound outcome the comments
Gordon to look the push Gordon left corner to Thompson
back out to Gordon. Gordon had a one on one opportunity.
They're gonna go and reset it up. Love and nothing.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Chili Coffee one forty five left. First quarter.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Entered to Taylor. Taylor will try to get into the
post there. To Thompson, he's working against stone Kings. Shot
up in the foul and it's gonna go chance for
the old fashioned three for Nathaniel Thompson. You can tell
Central crossing on a set play there wanted to go
down low and they got their junior guard in the
post up opportunities.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
You know, the tas defense gonna go almost six and
a half minutes. They went without giving up a point.
So until that bucket there.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Eleven two Chili Coffee, Thompson will get one free throwers
card Ta Liggan, it's gonna check in for chili coffee.
But he and get to the table one times. Let's
see on the free throw here. Free throw is good
and that'll sell on the horn. Carte ligging into the
game for stone King eleven three Chiliicothee won thirty seven

(25:13):
first quarter. Shane Combs, Greg Bigham, glad you're with us
here for this non league affairs. Chilicothy trying to get
a win to get back to five hundred. At nine
and nine, Cox into the scrimmagery up top Badger. Badger
are gonna look to go one on one to the
left hand, gets all the way to the rim, can't convert,
fight for the loose ball.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
The comments are gonna come out with it.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Thompson's gonna look to push up the right side, his
way up top the robles. Now they're set, they get
the back screen and the flare screen. Thompson, off of
that flare screen is gonna try to three no good.
Andrew Hammond up for the rebound and gives out the Cox.
Cox will look to push Cox right corner to Miller,

(25:56):
post feed into hamm and through all kinds of contact.
Gordon takes it away. Gordon into the open court three
on two for the comments. They pile and Thompson takes
a big shot and comes down hard man. I hope
he didn't hit his head. They got a chili cooffee file.
He's gonna get two free throws. But right now the
concern is that he's a cut.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
I think he got Badger went over top to try
to and got picked up the foul, but his hend
came down over top of the head. I think he
might have taken a hand in the forehead of the
eye more than Hitty's head.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
So Thompson up. That's a good sign there, very talented
young man there. Athletic in the open court. Was unable
to get the lay up to go, but did get fouled,
and he's going to go back to the free throw
line to shoot two.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
So I mentioned earlier.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Thompson comes in averaging right around nine or ten a game,
fifty six seconds to go. Chili Cooffee leads at eleven
to three here in the first quarter. First free throw
is good. Stone King returns to it's the lineup for Chilicothee,

(27:05):
replacing Badger. Badger's who that file was on the end.
Second free throw for Nathaniel Thompson is up, also good.
Thompson with all five points for Central, crossing eleven five.
Chilicothee out in front. Cox gets jumped in the back

(27:28):
court on the double team.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Now they get it out. Now stone King's up. He
throws a little floater in the middle.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Night's touch gets it to go Cooper stone King with
his first bucket of the night, thirteen to five.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Chilicofine cabs needed though, and they do miss foreign a
row plus a turnover.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Taylor has it on the right point. Wanted George there
on the bike stream, not there now gives his way
to Gordon. Gordon with a little pull up jumper from
about fourteen feet no good. Stone King with a rebound,
looks the push, but it's poked away and Chilicothe gives
away an opportunity to get the last out of the quarter.
Brugeles goes baseline, shot up and good and again Chili
Coothy just doesn't execute in the time and score. Back

(28:07):
comes Cox with ten seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Behind the back.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Gribble gets to the right hand, gets all the way
to the rim and that's going to be an easy call.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
That's a charge. Give Dawson Mallins dreaded. He was there
on the.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Block waiting for him set up, and Cox just squared
runs him over. So Chilli Cothy just not executing.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Time and score here Craig at the end of the quarter,
and they had forced it a little bit more. Give
Central Crossy's playing better defense. But the Cabs that really
tried to force it two or three times here in
the last couple of minutes and didn't work out.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Three to shoot Gordon into the Scrimmagery splits the double
team and be called for trial. I think the horn
went off anybody. I think he was going to call
him for travel. But we've come in the first quarter.
A good start for Chillicothe. They lead at thirteen to seven.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Stay with us. We'll be back with second quarter action.
As Shane colmb Greg Bigham. And you're listening to Chilicothee
Boys basketball and WBX.

Speaker 13 (29:02):

(29:25):
and podcasting called eight four four eight four four iHeart
to get started. That's eight four four eight four four iHeart.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Welcome back Chilicothy High School.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Shane Colmes, Greg Big I'm here on fourteen ninety WBX,
AM ninety two point seven FM and of course worldwide
on iHeart. Well, Greg, I take take a look at
the numbers. I'm guessing the first four or five minutes,
it'd be hard to script a better start for Coach Beard.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
But then Central Crossing called the time out. They come out,
and I answered a little.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Bit love and nothing there was maybe ain't nothing one
to call it the time out, but it was eleven
to nothing Calvs. But Central Crossing and then toughened it up,
didn't give up as many easy shot. And when you
play better defense, other teams sometimes will take a little
quicker shot, and I thought that happened to the Calves.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
They had to work harder for the shot. Kind of
fell in love with the three.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
In that first quarter of the Cavs made that first
three to start the game, then they missed their next
three three point attempts. They won up six out of
twelve total fifty percent in the first quarter, one and
four from the three point line, and on the other side,
Central Crossing two out of seven, but they were three
or five from the foul line turnovers.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Each team with four second quarter gets underway with the comments.
In possession of the basketball, Thompson out top with the
left side, Rob.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Will now give away to Gordon.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
I would have gone with his own yeah, the two
to three look were gonna be robels from the left side.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
No good.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
George comes flying in for the offensive rebound, his jump hook,
no good. Stone King rebounds outcome to Calves. Cowsides in
the up a gourd, hits a cutting and who goes
back to Cox. Now Miller will swing it left side
stone King, stone King up the Cox. Pretty good transition
defense from the comments. The Calves will set in the
scrimmage area. Now Miller has it up top.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Miller with a jib step goes the left side. Stone
kings three. No good.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
The Taves had the offensive rebound, momentarily looked like Carte
Liggan had it, and then they end up losing it
out of bounds with last touch by the Calves.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Gonna go back over to Sila crossing and.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
I think the Calves one number one and maybe nine
turnovers in the whole game against Western Brown and up
tempo game. They've turned it over five times already here
in this one. That was after the offensive rebound, just
a little bit of a mix up, but another three
now one out of five from the three point nine.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Got a situation over here at the scores table. Official
comes over. I don't know if they had a clock issue.
Seemed to be ready to go. Now, I have an
experienced crew here tonight, absolutely really good crew. Miles Robels
brings it up across the timeline, gives way to Gordon. Gordon,
guarded by Cox, now goes to Thompson. Thompson with the

(32:12):
right hand dribble and enter at the Robels. He's gonna
go against ligging crossover dribble to the middle. Now George
will try a left wing three no good good box
out from Cox. He goes Hi for the rebound. Okay
to look to push it into transition, stop and go
great No, look past the ham and outstanding Andrew Hammon
lays it in. Give the assist to Cox. Fifteen seven

(32:34):
Chilakathy back come to comics. George haes it up top,
gives a way to Gordon Flaire, screen back to George,
reverses it to Thompson and again you're gonna get that
backscreen Flaire screen. Now Gordon off of that with the
left hand dribble penetration, give way to George and they'll
just swing it side to side. Tilia Coothy's got to

(32:56):
do a good job of fighting through the screens and
not getting hit with the bay. There's a ball screen
for Mawlins that gets robles downhill, shot up, no good
out comes. Cocks at Chili coathe into the open cord,
stop and go again, almost an identical look that time,
not quite as open. Tried to thread the needle to
the Hammon. I think the Comets touched it last out

(33:18):
of bounds.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
The Kayden the previous play when he dumped it to
Hammond for the easy score. I think last year, maybe
early this year. Kaden tries to force it in and
go one on three by time he stopped the last time,
stopped the free through the line, dished it off and
he almost did it again there just being a more
experienced player recognizing and he's almost playing a lot of
point guard per se.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
It really is fifteen to seven.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Chilikathe and bound the Hammon hamm into the right hand,
gets to the middle, pull up jumper just short, good
look at it.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Gordon with the rebound.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
He'll look the push andreas Gordon, stop and go, move
to the left hand ribble, pull up and hits.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Gordon.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
After being shut out in the first quarter on the
board here in the second quarter fifteen to nine. ChIL
Coffee leads it. Miller gets to the trap, hits Carte
ligging cross court download of Hammon. Hammond shot up and
no good, we're gonna have a file. Andrew Hammond will
get to go to the free throw line. And you know,
Greg Hammond news had a really nice home stretch of

(34:24):
games here the way he's played, also a good start
again the nine.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
I struck that got the ball to Carte. Everybody in
the crowd and everybody saw Andrew open them. It was
all alone underneath Cartes saw him, almost saw him too late.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
First free throw. No good, Hammond can get this second
free throw to go.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
He'll he'll already be in double figures here in the
first half currently with nine.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Shot up. That one's good.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
So ten for Hammon, sixteen to nine, Chili Coffee in
the front. Gordon'll bring it up for the Commons, cross
the timeline guarded by Cox. Now they'll swing it on
the reversal. George haies it up on the left point.
Now the comments will reset. Chili Coffee still guarding man

(35:17):
the man.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Left side. Now back to George.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
George tries to penetrate how it's rogals on the dribble,
swing it all the way left side. It's Gordon, Gordon
up top, Taylor, Taylor Cartwright. Now Taylor hard drive to
the baseline, up underneath to the left hand reversal. Just
can't get it to go stone King with the rebound.

(35:43):
Cooper looked to push and transition through the legs penetrate
right side. Miller thought about the three momentarily comes back
to stone King.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
He leaves it for card k Legan and he.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Goes up and lays it in card k Leggan's first
basket of the night eighteen nine Chilicothe. Gordon brings it up,
gives right point to Taylor. Now they're going to go
down into the post and try to get Gordon on
the isolation against Cox. Stone King digs at the post
a little bit now GORDONI looked to go one on one.

(36:15):
Hammond gives a double team, swings it all the way outside.
Taylor from the left wing knocks it down. Robert Taylor.
You tell Chili Coathe wanted to get the ball out
of Gordon's hands. Give Taylor credit knocking down the triple
Chili Coffee back the other way against the pressure left corner.
Three no good from him and rebound card Ta Liggan

(36:36):
to win another possession. Stone King has it up top
ale it's Miller from the left wing. He drives hard
right hand Ham it'll try a right corner three hit
the backboard and every thought he got a good handle
on that pass got caught under the for down deep
in the baseline. There a little bit back come to
comments eighteen twelve Chili coathe three point thirty left first half.

(37:00):
Gordon threw the legs. Now give his way to Cartwright
back up top and they'll look the reset Gordon left side,
cart right back to Taylor and again they're trying to
get They're trying to get Gordon into the post up
where they they were on the previous possession. Cox does

(37:20):
a pretty good job of fighting for position, so good
patience here from the comments. Now they'll look back to
coach k Hill and get the call. They just go
with their base offense. Well, now they'll get Gordon into
the post to see if he looks to go one
on one against Cox. Here him and kind of shows
a little bit of a double team back out on

(37:40):
the dribble one Miller tried to draw the charge.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
No good on the three back up.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
It was Taylor blocked by cart Ligg and then the
outcome the Cavaliers with it. Give carte Liggan a little
defensive star there on a nice play and Miller just
trying to get a little too aggressive on the dribble,
loses it into the bench.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
The sales. Last touch by Miller goes back to central crossing.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
So eighteen twelve, Chili Coothee in front, two thirty five
first quarter, and your great guy, I don't feel like
they've had the same rhythm that they had in the
first four or five.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Minutes of the day.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
You know, it's a defensive proved the Caps are. They're
not hitting their threes, but we're gonna have to grind
it a little bit more. Sometimes it came a little
easy the other night against Western Brown. Tonight they're gonna
as to grind it.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
On the offense, Taylor penetrates middle back out to George
two fifteen to go.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
First half, calves by six.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Central crossing, as we talked about in the pre game,
very very patient on the offensive end. They only average
about forty forty one a game. Taylor with another three.
He dials it up one more time, Robert Taylor with six. Now,
all of a sudden, the Chilicothee League cut to the
three at eighteen fifteen. So pace early in the game
favoring chilicothe this pace over the last probably five six

(38:59):
minutes of basketball favoring the comments. Stone king penetrate, kicks
right corner to Cox. Cox drives hard to the baseline
and lays it in.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
And what was the call here?

Speaker 5 (39:09):
They say, you want I guess says he stepped on
the inline, made the shine. It's another turner.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Seven turnovers for the Calves and what was once eleven
to nothing the three point ties it up here for
central crossing.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Van Miller will pick up the basketball with the little
ball pressure in the back court.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Now the comments have it into the scrimmage area. They're
gonna swing it side to side.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Thompson tried hard penetration, the baseline cut off there by Miller,
so the comments will bring it back out again. Extremely
patient Thompson off a back screen. Now they'll reverse it
up top Taylor, who's hit two threes here in this quarter.
Factor Taylor taken away by Cox. Cox out in the
open court, gets all the way to.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
The rim, left hand and lays it in. Nice job.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Kayden Cox no better recipe, Greg, when you're struggling on
the offensive, and.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
To use the dee to get an easy.

Speaker 5 (40:00):
One that they needed. That they'd been stuck on eighteen
for a while.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Right twenty fifteen halves by five fifty two seconds left
here in the first half, Thompson thought about a three
shot bake instead. Let's see if they hold for the
last shot of the half. They've been able to grind
the offense twenty thirty seconds at a time, and the
clock's already down to thirty eight. Thompson has it up
top and again, I don't think they're in a hurry,

(40:27):
I could. I think they're going to try to hold
for the final one. Try to get Cart right to
the Ballstone King with good denial. Now Thompson will run
out and get it. Thompson can hold it, holds it
under his arm. There out a step shy of half court.
Fifteen to shoot.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Now looks like they're going to go right around ten.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Thompson has it nine eight in counting Thompson against Miller,
looking to go one on one right hand ribble back cut.
It's Cart right blocked by Ham and Stone take three
quarter court off the back Foard no good, Chilicoffee gets
the defensive stop. Then the first half as we arrive
at halftime, Jili Coffee twenty Central Crossing fifteen, Shaye Golden

(41:12):
Great Bigelm.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Stay with us. We'll be back with the first half
totals and I'll look ahead to the second half.

to come with McLain this Friday night and Logan Elm
next Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
And yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
I'll look back on this first half and and you know,
you got to feel good to be up twenty to fifteen.
But when you consider the way Chili Coothy started, they
kind of allowed Central Crossing back in a little bit
before we get to the numbers.

Speaker 3 (45:05):
Your take on just the feel of the first.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
Half, Yeah, I think you hit it on the head.
I think we got off to a good start. We're
getting good shots. They called time out. I thought Central
Crossing did a nice job. They come back out. They
played tougher defense, they made a little harder and it
was a little harder to get a good shot. And
I don't know, I don't want to say we fell
in love with the three, but I think when you
start playing better defense, it's a little quicker to take

(45:31):
the shot. In the first half. I'll get to it
and minute, but we were one out of seven from threes.
We were eight out of twelve on twos. So when
we were patient shot to twos, we shot it well.
But we didn't shoot the three well. And there weren't
too many force threes. We just didn't shoot it real well.
And the other thing that kind of came up in
the second quarter is the turnovers. I think we only

(45:51):
had one turnover and went wound up with seven in
the first half. That hurts helped Central Crossing, And I'm
kind of when you look at Central Cross and Shane,
I'd say, hey, they're gonna shoot twenty seven percent from
the floor and they're gonna have five turnovers, you'd feel
pretty good about it.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
And I think they're kind of in a way you
look at the game.

Speaker 4 (46:11):
I think if i'm Central Crossing, I'm feeling awful fortune,
I'm going down five points.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
Well, no quite, two things jump out.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
I mean, I'll let you get the ChIL Coffee's more
specific numbers there as well. The seven turnovers in a
game that's not not that fast at all, that's something
that's that's gotta bother Coach Beard a little bit. That
that's costing you some shots at the basket.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
There.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
You look it back, I know you talked about on
the first time out Chilipopy idn't missed a shot yet,
so from that point they didn't really shoot the ball.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
Roll real well, what's their totals there on the Chili
Coopee side.

Speaker 4 (46:40):
Well, they were total nine of nineteen forty seven percent.
They got off to the great start and they shot
the twos well because hamm and hit a couple of
short range jumpers and then the rest of them were
drives to the bucket when they were getting down inside
with some good passing down inside. As I said, they
were only one out of seven from the three just
two foul shots from him and he was one out
of two from the free throw line on that And

(47:01):
I talked about the seven turnovers central crossing the five
of eighteen. They were two of six of the three
point line. I think you told me that the same
young many at both their threes that came into.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
Ballgames Robert Taylor. Taylor two out.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
Of six and they were three out of five from
the foul line.

Speaker 4 (47:15):
Central Crossing had three or had four early turnovers, but
I think they only had one turnover in the second quarter.
So the turnover differential the second quarter, the shooting differential
with the Cavs not shooting the three well kind of
allowed Central Crossing to catch up after they were down
eleven points.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
Well, man, I thought you hit it perfectly.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
In the pregame the night when i'd asked you about,
you know, some of the OCC teams and some of
the OCC style play. You used words like discipline, well coached, athletic,
and I think we'd watched all those things on display there.
I was really impressive how Central Crossing was able to
grind their offense in the scrimmager Ay and.

Speaker 5 (47:52):
I think you have to grind against them, right, Shane, Well, I.

Speaker 2 (47:55):
Think so, especially when it's not there. I think you
could play earlier. You got to play late, you know,
when you're out in secondary break. I don't want to
hold Chilicoffie back. If they're to be up at court
and they have a good look, I agree with you.
Sometimes when it's not there, they force off the drib
a little bit. That's when you got to get into
your stuff and run your un your sets. Looking at
the individual scoring first for central crossing, I mean Jilicotie

(48:17):
does a great job. Andres Gordon's had an outstanding here.
He only has two points here at the half. At
Robert Taylor knocked down to two threes he has six.
Nathaniel Thompson, he's right on his average here. He averages
about ten a game, has five at half time, and
then Miles Rogals with two at equals to fifteenth on.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
The Chilicoffee side.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Nice first half for Andrew Hammond he has ten then
looking down the score and Caden Cox with four, Cooper
stone King with two, Cam Badger with two, in Carte
Liggan with two.

Speaker 3 (48:49):
Well coming up on about two twenty.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
Left here in the halftime break, and we'll step aside
and Greg and I'll be back with some second half
of adjustments in third quarter act.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
Stay with us.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Welcome back to Chilicopy High School, Shane Colins, Rake Bigham
and coming up on about a minute to go here
in halftime, as the pornal sound and get the teams
heading back to their bench here momentarily, and you know, Greg,
as you coming into the third quarter there in the
halftime report.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
We talked in detail about both teams.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
Probably could write a narrative as positive or as negative
as you want to. Nonetheless, chilicopy up five, let's come
get off to a good start and see but you
get control of the stuff.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
Yeah, you know they Hey, they're up five points, they're leading,
and they're certainly you know, one thing I don't want
to jink. So one thing I think we've done is
you've talked about central crossing and grinds that they had
to run a big offense. They don't get in a hurry.
Think that's why they only give up forty points of games.
Very patient offense. Well, we've done a good job. Haven't
got beat on the back cup. We got beat right

(50:58):
at the end of the half that we've got a
block shot.

Speaker 11 (51:00):
So uh.

Speaker 4 (51:01):
On the one side, I feel like we can hold
him down if we just keep down on the turnovers,
make sure and you know, you get shots.

Speaker 5 (51:08):
Some nights you make him some nights you done.

Speaker 4 (51:09):
But like to see us not force it too much
and you know, maybe that three point nine will open
up a bit for us, but I.

Speaker 2 (51:15):
Think it'd be interesting to the way they grind their
offense to be interesting late third quarter, early fourth quarter,
Chili Cooffee could stretch this five point lane to seven
or nine. Yes, then how patient can they continue to
be when they're down three?

Speaker 3 (51:26):
Fourth possession?

Speaker 2 (51:27):
Right, Oh, there's a horn that Chillcoffee Cavaliers break the huddle.
Coach birdt will run him out the way he started
the game with Miller badger him and stone King and Ox,
and the comments will go Thompson, Gordon, Taylor, George.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
And Rovers.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Gonna be Chilliicothee Cavalier basketball to start the third quarter,
and they'll obviously flip in. So now Greg and I
will be calling Chili Coothie's offensive action from our right
to left, with the comments going back our left to right,
and uh.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
Just making sure everybody at the scores table is ready
to go here.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
Well, everybody changing their they didn't have their shirts tucked in.
And if it's just a sudden we're not start a
second half, guys.

Speaker 3 (52:19):
Guys have it to start the third quarter.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
Pager has it up top or versus right side Miller,
Miller atop stone King, stone King right hand penetration. Now
Hammon has it in the right corner. Back to stone King,
gives way to Miller. Good ball movement here. Miller right
hand dribble pulls up at the elbow shot. No good
Gordon of Central Crossing with the rebound.

Speaker 4 (52:42):
It was a good look. One had a great look.
We were facient. Good shot just didn't go.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
In Central Crossing's first possession of the second half, Taylor
has it at the left point, hands off the Gordon
wanted the back door there with Thompson.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
Pretty good job by Miller. Take it away.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
We'll reset. Miller tries to apply a little ball pressure
to Thompson. There's that set where they want Gordon down
on the block. Hawks has done a pretty good job
on him individually. Back out George, George into the middle.
Cut off there by ham and Robert Taylor with the
three in and out. No good rebound. Stone King gives

(53:20):
way to Miller and out come the Cavaliers. Miller on
a crossover dribble is going to be hit there with
just a common foul. First team file for Central Crossing
and Chiliicaofie will have sid out Kayden Cox will be
the unbound man on the side out of bounds. We're
just one minute in the third quarter. Chili Coofee twenty

(53:40):
fifteen out in front, which was our halftime score, so
no points yet. Here in the third quarter, Download Stone
King Stone King steps through with the left hand, nice
little new shot up on the rim. No good, but
he was hammered, and he'll go to the free throw
line and shoot a pair. The Cooperstone team with two

(54:02):
points there in the first half, go to the free
throw line and see if he can extend this five
points to a Kaffee lead.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
First free throw Good.

Speaker 5 (54:14):
Calves only got to the line twice in that first half.
They've been shooting double figures from free throws the last
several games.

Speaker 3 (54:20):
Second free throw Good twenty two fifteen.

Speaker 2 (54:24):
As the Calves get on the board first here in
the third quarter, just six forty to go third quarter,
comets into the scrimmage area. Thompson't gonna play a little
two man game there with Gordon. Now, Gordon wanted the
ball and on the block, didn't get it. They had
an opportunity to get get him down there low to
give him an offensive chance. Al Taylor has it over

(54:45):
on the right side. There's that two man game. This
time Taylor will reject the ball screen and he just
loses it. They Gordon was wanting to go two man game.
Greg to the middle, He rejects the ball screen, just
lose it right out of vande.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
Cam imagine did a night job.

Speaker 4 (54:59):
Buck Caim Maida was gonna and get a fat that
he got that hand in and poke the ball away first.

Speaker 5 (55:02):
Now here's three quarters court pressure double team.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
Yeah, we'll run a junt knocked away by Thompson.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
Chilo Coffee ball, but yeah, Chilo Coffee may be caught
off guard a little bit.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
Stone King will and bound into.

Speaker 2 (55:21):
The back court the Cox. Let's see if they come
with it again. They do, and George steps out in
front of the passing lane, knocks it away, comments into
the open court. Knocked away from behind by Hammon, out
comes Cox central crossing had numbers in the original break.
But turn it back over al Cox. They'll know Hammon
Hammond in the lane. Turn around jumper good. Not the

(55:44):
prettiest possession, but certainly ends well with the Caives scoring
to go up twenty four fifteen.

Speaker 4 (55:51):
Kayton Cox came and they were jumping double team, and
Kin's gonna have to get used to that.

Speaker 5 (55:55):
I'm gonna be able to dribble through. This quickness is
central crossing. But it worked out.

Speaker 3 (56:00):
George has it on the right wing. Now Gordon has
it up top.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
If one it toomps it off of a double, pretty
good switch out by stone King takes it away twenty
four to fifteen. Chili Coythie on top by a twenty
two third quarter elbow entry to Taylor. Taylor drops it low,
inside out action. Taylor gets it back and knocks down
a three. He already had two of them in the
first half. That says third triple of the night, twenty

(56:27):
four eighteens by six stone King against the pressure in
the middle, left hand lay up up too soft. No
good out comes the comments. Gordon into the open court,
a little inside out left hand to dribble, gets all
the way to the rim.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
I finady got hit. No call. He just stays with
it and puts it in time out.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
Chilikathe on the floor. It's a short one, so we'll
stay here. Great extra effort like Gordon, just to stay
with it. You see a lot of kids worry about
the no call in the whistle. He just stays with
it and puts it in.

Speaker 4 (56:59):
There's a case were in Central Crossing they come out
with the trap and press. It didn't get a steal,
but it'd got Chilcoffee in a hurry and Cooper was stoky,
was able to beat it, but he still wound up
with one really fast by ninety nine hour. Would have
been a great shot because he took it to the
hole and all of a sudden, you get in a hurry,
they get the ball on the other end and they
get a fast breakout of it.

Speaker 5 (57:19):
So that was kind of a four point swing. Nice
job by Central Crossing to Sweet Chilcoffee up there.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
You know, one thing throughout the year, on most nights,
I feel like Chilli Coffee picks out that top player
on the scouting report, and they've done a pretty good
job most of the year. But in doing so, there's
been a lot of nights where some role players have
hurt them, particularly from the three point line of the night.
Robert Taylor's three three pointers have been nine big points

(57:45):
and that's basically half a Central Crossings offense.

Speaker 4 (57:47):
To see him and now they're going to go half
court one two two, trap and almost another turnover.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
Calves are in trouble and they do turn it over.
Out come the comments with it.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
Thompson into the open court, goes left side three ball
whether there's no good badger up two hands for the rebound.
Hit hard, easy call there, loose ball foul on central crossing.
Thomas had a good look at the three ball there
and transition couldn't get us to go, so score or

(58:19):
named twenty four to twenty Chilikafee four twenty eighth to go.
Third quarter, PARTE. Liggan makes his first appearance of the
second half. Replace bager Aw gets the half court little
traff air Taylor up top, just running back and forth,
chasing a little bit Son, King and Miller in a

(58:40):
two guard set.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
Hammon left corner.

Speaker 2 (58:45):
Three and he got at Andrew Hammond fix six four frame,
doesn't need much room to get it off, shoots it
right up for it to top.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
Much needed three ball for the Cavaliers. Twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
I entry to Gordon wanted the back doord defended well
by Miller. Now George has it.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
Up top.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
It's Gordon Gordon on the right side. Taylor gonna play
two man game with Gordon. Taylor's had the hot hand
here this evening with three threes. George gives way to Taylor.
Taylor guarded by the ligging. Now Gordon haes it up top.
Another long, patient possession for the Commons. Gordon between the
leg crossover, now stop and go against Cox, chicks it

(59:32):
out to Thompson and again Thompson. I'll just retreat and
give it back to Gordon. Three twenty to go, third quarter.
Calv's doing a pretty good job defensively. Central crossing just
makes you play long possessions. George right side, rubles it
now about the flair string. There's George to the left hand,
back out Thompson. Now Gordon on the right side gets

(59:55):
Thompson down low, backs it back out again. Two fifty
seven third quarter, George up top after Gordon now with
the with the switches that happened in the possession, it's
cartad Liggan and gets Gordon. Gordon stop and go cross
over right, elbow jump or no good. Rubbles on the

(01:00:19):
off the rebound up, no good. Gordon gets it one
more time and his reverse layups good. So Chilicothe does
all that defensively and then unable just to simply wrap
it up with a rebound. Official time out. Greg, I
don't know if you saw what happened to stone King.
There's checking on Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:00:39):
First I thought there was a wet spot, but then
on the floor, Yeah, I think just double checking. That's
played good defense. Center Cross. He missed it an easy
lay up and they are able to stay right there
and get an easy rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Miller through the trap up the stone King download a
Hammon Hammon up and under Cox, nice cut, a great
dump down the Liggans.

Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
He lays it in.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Nice shot at Chilicoffie sharing the basketball carte. Liggan lays
it in, give Cox another assist. Twenty nine to twenty two.
Chilicothe again. Chilicotti just got to continue to grind on
the defensive end. They've guarded well. They got to wrap
it up with the possession here. Gordon off the ball
stream dials up a three pointer and that's good on grass. Gordon,

(01:01:22):
after a slow first half, already has seven here in
the second half. Nine in the game, twenty nine to
twenty five, Chilicotee by four. Stone Team gets at the
ham and on the curl poked away from behind. Gonna
be fouled. I think they got Thompson second that's their

(01:01:45):
fourteen foul, so one more in chilicomy half still haven't
filed here. In the third quarter, Bawlings and Cartwright returned
to the lineup here for the comments. All the way
out top those it over a carte Legan goes to

(01:02:05):
the bike court and runs it down, which is which
is fine?

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Off the obi under.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Right side stone King, stone King gives way to cops
one thirty to go.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Third quarter, calves by four with the basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
How stone King has it right in front of the
chili coffee and he's gonna try a three and he
knocks it down. But they're gonna call stone King on
the offensive fiul when he ripped through to the jib step.
They're gonna say that he leaned the shoulder in and
and they're gonna call the offensive foul.

Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
Didn't see it.

Speaker 5 (01:02:39):
I thought maybe he stepped out of bounds, but I didn't.

Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
Yeah, they call foul on him and he's trying to
set himself up with a three point shot.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
So twenty nine to twenty five on the turnover, that's
a big call. Hanim been thirty two to twenty five.
Instead it remains twenty nine to twenty five one thirteen
to go third quarter, comments back into the half court offense,
and they're going to grind one more time flare screen.
Thompson thought about the three shot fake left hand dribble,
pull up jumper.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
No good, Cox has it.

Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Cox pushes into transition three on two for the Cabs,
dumps it off the car.

Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Tay liggins shot up on the rim. No good.

Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
Great opportunity for chillicythee outcome to Commons. Forty eight seconds
to go. Coach k Hill wants him to slow it down,
but Thompson has a lane, gonna drive all the way
to the hole. Shot up, no good. Stone King comes
out with the rebound. Now it's Chilikithee's turn. Maybe they
could take the final shot. Thirty five seconds in County,

(01:03:36):
Miller to the right hand, his way to Hammon uptop
stone King. Stone King gives the miller twenty four to shoot.
Carte ligging in the high post rip through lock out Hammon.
Now stone King will dial.

Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Up a deep three. No good.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Gordon up for the rebound for central Crossing. Ten seconds
to go third quarter, Gordon looks to push ahead. Calves
lead it by four. Gordon to the left hand stop
and go all the way to the hole, fade away,
and they're gonna be called for the push and that
won't hurt Chilikafie if it's on the floor.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
But they were going to give him the shot.

Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
They needed the foul before they had a foul to give.
Didn't foul early enough.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Yeah, so plenty of opportunity there to give the foul.
Off the dribble. Gordon gets it all the way into
the act of shooting. So as time expires, the tailing
that Gordon's going to be all loan down at the
free throw line to see if he can cut into
this twenty nine to twenty five Chilicothee lead. First free
throw no good. Gordon's been out standing so far here tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
But he's he's zero for three from the free throw line.
Second free throw for Gordon is also no good. To
the calves.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
God's a little bit of a bull there and that's
how the third quarter will win Chillicothe twenty nine, Central
Crossing twenty five. Stay with us for what should be
an exciting fourth quarter if you listen to Chilicothee Boys
basketball in fourteen ninety WBX.

Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
This message is for Karina, our mom who finished her
high school diploma at age twenty eight. Hi Mom, it's
Emabith and Nicholas.

Speaker 7 (01:05:41):
Congratulations on Guinea your diploma.

Speaker 14 (01:05:43):
You work so hard enough, taught us so much.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Welcome back to Chillicothe High School. Shane Collins, Greg Bigham,
and you know Greg. The Calves from the start of lead,
the comments have never led in the game. They've been
within three a couple of different points, and Calves currently
lead at twenty nine to twenty five. But the comments
will have it here to start the fourth quarter. Thought
the Chilicopy had a couple of chances to stretch it

(01:06:27):
out to seven or eight and yeah, unable to convert.

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Yeah, we were only in the quarter of three of six,
but we only got off six shots. They shot eleven times.

Speaker 5 (01:06:35):
Ooh, there's a big.

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Call for US unforced air that the comments bring the
ball to start the fourth quarter across the timeline and
they accidentally bring it back across.

Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
For the over and back.

Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
So big, big situation in a game where possessions are
hard to come by. So now the Calves will get
possession here to try to add to the twenty nine
to twenty five high post entry to Cocks, back out
the Miller, Miller down the middle, bit strong new von
Miller his first basket of the evening, starts the fourth quarter,

(01:07:06):
scoring cas by six thirty one twenty five.

Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
One's first points.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Yeah, gives way too Smallum's now Gordon will try a
right wing three. Missus lab might have grazed the rim
a little bit, nonetheles, it's going to go out of bound.

Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
Back to the Calves. Robert Taylor returned to the lineup.

Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
Taylor's been there a three point shooter tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
And a man full court. They've been running and jumping
out of there. He goes Thompson back to the ball.
Chilok Afy does a pretty good job now ligging.

Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
Right corner.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
It's badger, no good car take, ligging up over the
top for the rebound. Pretty good box out for the
cart right and Ligan without making any contact, just simply
went over to tomp and snag did seems like once.

Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
A game, Greg, he just does something that leaves me saying, wow,
Cam was open.

Speaker 5 (01:08:03):
I'm not It was a little bit quick to take
up three.

Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
We had an advantage, but Cam's a good shooter, and
somehow Carte went over top that Reba.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
It's a pretty good box out.

Speaker 5 (01:08:14):
Was Central Crossings, Like Gordon, he come from.

Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
First free throw, no good, a little bit flat on
that shot there. Cartel will get a second one here.
Trying to add push this thing to three possessions.

Speaker 10 (01:08:30):
He and he does.

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
That's good on it. So thirty two, twenty five, seven
minutes ago.

Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
I know it's early to start talking about three possessions,
but because of the way Central Crossing plays offensively, I'm
just intrigued to see how that can help Chilicoti's defense
a little bit. And it looks like away from the ball,
the official ended up seeing something dot Thompson on a
on an offensive bow on a push away from the ball.

(01:08:57):
So turn over back to the calves, full court opportunity
for pressure again the run and jump there. Failer turns
it over, Door throws it down underneath the Thompson and
Thompson lays it in tough turnover for the kives there,
Bider gets it in. We're gonna have a time out.
It's gonna be a short time out, so we'll stay here.

(01:09:20):
Just a costly back court mistake there leads it easy too.
We're chili kaife and one basketball up seven with a
chance to add to it.

Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
You know, got to stop had the ball and got
the turnover on the offensive foul. And one's a senior
and is you just got you got trapped too easy
and you know what's coming you almost when when they're
trapping you. One's a great ballhander. You can't dribble through
three guys and you just can't do it. You got
to either back dribble or patient.

Speaker 5 (01:09:50):
You know, so many guys.

Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
You get a good guard like that one you and
you've been at a ball game and they'll say clear out,
clear out, because you got your point guard.

Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
He games a ball well. But first of all, sudden
were crossing is quick.

Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Second, I've only had three defenders down there, and when
you cleared out, one was left. Tried to dribble through
it and just they just took it away as an
easy laugh. It seems like the Caves are on the
point of getting a nice lead can't quite do it,
but there's still up five with the basketball.

Speaker 5 (01:10:15):
Just can't a four days tournovers like that?

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Yeah all the time out Let's hear see if the
Caps get a good look at it. Cox has across
the timeline a little extended looks like maybe a one
three one type of look air for Central crossing two
guard front with Miller and stone King against it. Stone
King's got that left foot down and maybe get a.

Speaker 3 (01:10:35):
Look at it here. Now Cox in in the corner.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
He's trapped there through and they poke it away out
come Central Crossing with a turnover.

Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
Thompson. Now he'll slow down and walk it across.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
So thirty two twenty five Cavaliers by five, six minutes
to go to the game. Thompson to the right hand,
drives against Miller, back out Taylor. He'll try a three ball.
No good fight for the loose ball out comes Gordon
with it. Badger poked it the wave. They're gonna call
a file. They're gonna get cam Bager on the reach end.

(01:11:14):
Carte Ligand's gonna return.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
I think that's Badger's.

Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Third uh cart is gonna give him in a break.
So the comments will have it underneath they're gonna go
box set Obi under and throw it up out of
the top the Gordon who hands it off the cart right,
and they're gonna get Gordon on the Jan Miller doing
a great job busting through on the screen and Gordon

(01:11:38):
just kind of reached out and bumped in. Their pretty
easy call. Horns of back over to ChIL coffee, full
court pressure from the comments running jump there they throwed
over the top the Cox. Now Cox down the badger,
Badger into the jump stop and they're gonna go offensive

(01:11:58):
file the other way. That's Cam's fourth file right, turn
it back over the central crossing him and we'll have
to come get Bager because it was like I said,
five forty six to go Cam with four.

Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
Now Coach Beard goes his bench and it was two
on two.

Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
Probably you don't need a bucketeer just to force your
way in. It's a tough call on Cam.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
He was in.

Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
I don't think he thought it was an offensive founder.
I can get it right back to the other team.
Probably didn't need to go to the bucket.

Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
Theer all insides of up pop gets way to Gordon.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Now it's right wing three from cut right Mawlins with
an offensive rebound. Now Thompson will try a left wing three,
and he's got it. Daniel Thompson right on a season
average with ten points in the game thirty two thirty
cas now League cut to two.

Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Stone King tries to dribble through the try loose ball
to the floor and central crossings have a lepa the
other end.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
But they called a time out when the guy had
the ball in the course of kind of a break
for Chila Coffee. Short timeouts will stay here again, and Greg,
I feel like a mixture of the turnover. But as
you said earlier, I thought you said it well. Sometimes
the pressure doesn't have to cause the turnover. Sometimes you
can just speed the opponent up. It's probably done a
little bit of both to Chili Coffee. But Chili Cofee

(01:13:20):
walk up six or seven there just about a minute
and a half ago.

Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Now, all of a sudden, it's down the tool.

Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
Every time we played an OCC team this year, we've
been ahead almost going to the fourth quarter and the
other team ramps up the defense, double teams, and we
tried to drible a few seventy five guys. I'm being factious,
of course, but you can't dribble between two or three guys.
Cam tried it, got an offensive foul, One tried it,
stole away, layup and now Cooper tried to good split

(01:13:46):
two guys.

Speaker 5 (01:13:47):
You know it is why you know, it's not a
perfect world, but we.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Just cannot try to It's a different competition to try
to dribble between people, and it's just killed the calves
here in the lake going and at seven point leads
on to two.

Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
So thirty two thirty to Loo coffee, five fourteen to
go in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
Out of the time out the common table cart right
up top gives the Gordon on the right point and
then play off a ball stream from Malins. Hawks fights
through it well and stays with Gordon. Now Thompson has
it up top again. Now that they're back to two,
Central Crossing.

Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
Can continue to go into their grind.

Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Gordon fakes the hand off now looks to isolate Cox
in the post. Cox walls up, locks the shot. Nice defense,
Tomats keep it. Oh, they kick it over the left
corner and the Daniel Thompson again from three and for
the first time this evening, Central Crossing leads it. Now
thirty three thirty two Miller across the timeline left corner three.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
It's stone King, Let's need a hooper.

Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Stone King dials up a triple caves back in front
thirty five thirty two, four twenty two left in the game.
Gordon has it up top again, the same little handoff move.
He'll keep it and try to isolate against Cox. Well,
now they're gonna get back to Thompson. Coach k Hill

(01:15:10):
wants a different set. Now He's got him where he
wants and Thompson enters.

Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
At the malins.

Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
Malin's gonna try to isolate Gordon in the post there
against Cox. Cox did a pretty good job on the
last possession. Now Gordon fax him in diagonal to Cartwright
for three. No good Cox up for the rebel and
give Kayen Cox a lot of credit defensively against a
really talented player. Miller throws it out of the top
the car ta liggin Liggan does a nice job waiting

(01:15:38):
for Miller to come get it back and now chilicothe
the end of the scrimmage area.

Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
Miller which way the car ta ligging. Now Cox has
it up top three point thirty three to go in
the game.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Tabs by two with the basketball left side stone Kam
drives left hand, mid range jumper.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
No good. Fight for the loose ball, and we're gonna
have a foul on chill of coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Stone King had a decent look at a little runner
on the baseline. Just comes up a little short and
they're gonna get Stone Kings a little anxious on the offensive.

Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
Revan good shot. Good luck by Cooper right and they
were patient. Sometimes that's short. Baseline's a tough jumper.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
It short, So three twenty in counting in the game,
kaws By two need to stop here. Dartlight has it
on the right point, gives way to Gordon Over on
the left side, still guarded by Cox. Thompson shot fake,
dumps underneath the Marlins, and he lays it in. Dawson

(01:16:40):
mallins first shot or excuse me, first bucket of the night.
Tizes at thirty five, All back comes chilicafe. Cox ties
it up top guarded by Taylor. Now gives way to Miller.
Two forty five to go in the game, tied to
thirty five. Miller hard drive to the left hand, shot up,

(01:17:02):
no good. I'm gonna draw a foul and go to
the free throw line.

Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
So to two forty to go.

Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
The senior point guard will get a chance to break
this tie and put the Calves back on top. Central
crossing and taking the first lead of the evening. At
thirty three thirty two, the stone King three put Chili
coffee back in front. Then the Maulin's lay up tight
us at thirty five. First free throw no good, so

(01:17:30):
we remain tight. Badger is going to return for the ligan.
Remember Badger has the four files. Miller will get a
second from the Charity strike shot is good, splits a
pair thirty six thirty five, Chili coffee back on. Tom

(01:17:55):
Taylor has it on the right point, gives way to Gordon.
Gordon left the corner to Thompson. That's been his hot
spot all the way in and out. Great rebound from Biger,
and we're gonna have a foul on Maulin's and I
think that's their fifth teenth file. Great right, That's why
I send Vidro to the free throw line. So Bader

(01:18:18):
is your free throw shooter shooting too?

Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
Yeah, Central cross The player was upset, but Cam had
the rebound solidly, had it two hands, and then they
reached around him and almost bare hooking was trying to
go away and it's a file.

Speaker 5 (01:18:30):
He go to the line. Need these file shots.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
My baseline screens really hurt. Chili kafee here where Thompson's
got to the corner. He hit two, had a really
good look at it there when all the way in
and came out. Calves dodge of Buller cam Bager's first
free throw.

Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Good. Gonna be huge at the free throw.

Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Line down the stretch here because Chilo Kaikie'll shoot two
free throws on every file the rest of the way
over this final two twenty two.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
Badge your second free throw on its way.

Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
All the lay rims out, so time out central crossing
thirty seven, thirty five, chilicoffee out in the front. Let's see. Uh,
they're gonna go fools.

Speaker 3 (01:19:16):
Let's step away with them again, Calves by two to
twenty one. Don't go anywhere. We'll be back here in
thirty seconds.

Welcome back to Chilico High School.

Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Here on fourteen ninety WBX on the AM side, ninety
two point seven FM worldwide on the iHeart Shane HOLMBS,
Greg Big, I'm with you. We'll be back here again
Friday night, fac play McLean Tiger is our first look
at them here in twenty twenty four, twenty twenty five,
and then Logan Elm on Tuesday night, and then that
following weekend at Jackson at McLean to finish the regular season.

(01:20:23):
As the Calves are pushing towards that twelve win mark
for that winning season the coach Beards talked about tonight
would go a long way, as it would even them
up at nine and nine grade. You'd certainly feel different
about walking out of here at nine and nine in
comparison to eight to eight and ten. This final two
twenty one really big.

Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
For the Cavs.

Speaker 4 (01:20:43):
You kind of got the idea of shame. We the
Calves get up as many as seven, but he was
good again. That type of game you know is going
to go down to the wires. You're right central. Cross
has done a nice job running that backscreen, getting some
shots in the corner, and they've done a better job defensively.

Speaker 5 (01:20:57):
It's tough for the Cavs get a good shot.

Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Gordon has it up top, guarded by Cox. That's been
a really fun match up to watch, two very talented
young men. Now Cartwright has it. He'll try a right
wing three, no good, really good box out down and
I thought Miller was held, but out come the comments
with it. Gordon gets it by Gordon all the way
to the rim. Shot up on the rim, no good.
I want to draw a file. Cartwright had taken a

(01:21:22):
right wing three. I thought Miller really had a good
inside position. But Gordon comes out of nowhere to win
the offensive rebound and now Andreas Gordon's gonna go to
the free throw line. He's ozero for four on the
evening from the charity stripe. First shot for the Senior

(01:21:46):
is good. This first point of the fourth quarter gives
me ten points on the evening.

Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
He'll get another. He's able to make this one. They'll
tie us up, and he does.

Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Tied at thirty seven, one to fifty six to go
into ballgames. See if Central Crossing backs out of the
pressure a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Now that they have the five.

Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
Team files, they are going to walk Taylor up and
show a little bit of on ball there.

Speaker 3 (01:22:19):
So now they back out of it as Cocks walks
it up.

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
One fifty to go in the game, tied at thirty seven.
Here we go Miller on the left wing, high ball
screen from Bager Miller, it's Bager on the roll. Badger
to the rim, lays it in. Nice execution by the
two seniors on the two man game. Miller to Badger
thirty nine, thirty seven, Chilicoffee back on top.

Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
That's a nice strong move by Cam Badger. After a
great pass with Miller.

Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
High ball screen, Gordon comes off of them all and
rolls that. Gordon will back out. Now they switch off
and they've got stone King on Gordon. Gordon hard to
the left hand, shot up on the rim. No good
fight for the looseible outcomes Cox with it. Cox cross
half court.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
Gives a way to stone King. Stone King to the
left hand.

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
Now back's out, picks it up, gives the cocks. They're
saying no foul on central crossing. They want to pressure
here a little bit first stone King and gets the trap,
gives way to hammer Hammon, back to stone King. Stone
King steps through forty seven on the clock and the
cos turn it over. Out comes Thompson. Thompson thought about

(01:23:34):
the three. Now give his way to Gordon and then
we're gonna have a time out on the floor for
central crossing. Let's see here if they go the shorter
the long, and I'll determine if we take a break. Here,
got the coach time out and it's a full one.
Let's step away for a thirty second time out. Chilicothe
thirty nine, Central Crossing thirty seven. Stay with us for
an exciting finish. This is Chilicothee Boys basketball in fourteen

Welcome back to Chilicothee High School. Thirty eight point one
seconds remaining in tonight's ballgame. Chilicothee leads at thirty nine
thirty seven and great. That last possession were central crossing.
Decided not to foul.

Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Felt like their pressure could cause a turn over that
much time.

Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
You know, that's that tough spot where Chili Cooffee had
a couple opportunities to maybe attack or go a little bit,
but you get caught in the middle.

Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
There a little bit named the turn over.

Speaker 5 (01:24:55):
That was our fourteenth turner. That's hurt. But yeah, Cooper
threw the ball. He's upset with himself. You could see
where we're sitting what he saw. He was right in
the lane and or out on the top of the key.
We had a back cut and had a guy open.

Speaker 4 (01:25:07):
It was just a second lake and the quickest central
crossing stuffed in.

Speaker 5 (01:25:11):
He had his man opening. Just was a second lake.
Could have been a lay up, but turned in a turnover.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
Since you're crossing obi under just throws it out top
and comes gets it back.

Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
Thirty seconds remaining in the game. Tompson up top gives
way to Gordon. Gordon guarded by hamm and.

Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
Let's don't give up.

Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
I'm gonna look the iso between the legs, cross old
no three up top rubbles, gonna try a three, no good.
Gordon runs down the offensive rebound. The Comets still have it.
Ky Hill's coach. K Hill's gonna call out a set.
He's got the ball in Gordon's hands and Hammon.

Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
Gives a foul. According to the board, that would be
their fifth their fifth file. So now Hammon's first file
is gonna send.

Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
Gordon to the free throw line and he's gonna have
a chance to make two to tie the game. Eight
point six seconds remaining.

Speaker 3 (01:26:10):
Two Yes, as you said, he's now three for seven,
but he's made his last three thirty nine, thirty eight.

Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
You know what Caps thought, They didn't They thought they
had another foul again, made a mistake there. But and
I'll tell you something we've not done very well is
get that last shot off at the end of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Huge rebounding opportunity. If they were to miss here, you
got our rebound that he makes good on it. Tied
at thirty nine, seven seconds ago, cops up across the timeline.
Cox pull up jumper from the baseline. No good fight
for the loose ball, and we're going to go to overtime.
Thirty two minutes not enough on this Wednesday night. Tied

(01:26:52):
at thirty nine, we head to an extra possession. Stay
with us here.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
This is Chilicothee Boys basketball in fourteen ninety.

Speaker 7 (01:27:00):
Yet since the day I stopped drinking, my life has
gotten better and better. I can't take any credit for it.
It just seems that without alcohol, I think better. I'm
more careful with money. I watch what I say. I
don't get into trouble like I did when I was drinking.
It's scary trying to walk through life alone. Today, I
have that very distinct feeling that I don't ever have
to be alone again. Alcoholics anonymous it works.

Speaker 8 (01:27:19):
Look us up for local information about alcoholics. Anonymous called
seven four zero seven seven four two six four six.

Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
Welcome back to Chilcapi High School.

Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
Shane Holmes and great big I mean exciting finish here
thirty nine all we're going to go to overtime here.
I believe it's been since the Warring game when they
played double overtime. Since we've been in OT this year,
and yeah, well we talked about it all night. It's
just been a tough matchup. It's been trasting styles. I

(01:27:53):
think Chili Coopy I'd rather play the little pace obviously,
Central Crossing, comfortable grinding and in the strimmage area. La
He was able to use some of that pace early
in the game to open up a big lead back
on Central Crossing, And I thought a huge part here
so far because when Chilicoffie had a chance to extended
out to seven or eight points and for Central Crossing
to play for three possessions down, they turn it over

(01:28:16):
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
Central Crossing gets back in it. We had a seesaw
battle there in the fourth quarter. Is more off overtime.

Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
It was a metal was It happens at the end
of the game and they looked up on the clock.
But you know, who knows, maybe they'd have made a
three and won the game. But we fouled to give
him to put him at the foul line with eight
seconds and I wound up letting him tie the game.
But I think Chillicothe thought we had a foul to
give and that's what happened there. And then at the
end of the game. You know, Caden's the guy that
can get from from one end to the other. But

(01:28:47):
every time we've needed to, every time we've had last
possession to tie it or win it in a game
this year, and it's been a lot. It's Cayden has
gone one on five. He's tried to get to ball
up the floor and that time I thought he got
through quick, but he might have had a couple of
guys open maybe to get a little cleaner shot. He
had to take a fade away from the deep corner.
But hey, gotta win it in overtime.

Speaker 2 (01:29:07):
Now, Cox up on the jump ball there, back taps
it to Miller and the Caves will get the first
opportunity here in the extra possession. Cox has it on
the left wing, hands it off the stone king stone
King off the badger, Badger.

Speaker 3 (01:29:26):
Over to Miller.

Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
Miller threw the legs left hand penetration jump stop there
gives way to Cox. Cox jump hush mid range jumper
no good, too strong rebound Gordon for central crossing back
on the comments as they'll try to score first here
in the overtime Gordon off the car right, gives way

(01:29:49):
to Malins. Now it's right side Topson against Miller. Miller
cuts him off on the drive there, back out to Gordon.
Gordon backs out now looks to play downhill against Cop
to the right hand ribble. How he retreats one more time.
We're all the way down in three minutes. Here they
swing it left side table or has it up top

(01:30:11):
Maulin's part right on the right side, rips through, gets
all the way to the rim and gets a step
on stone King.

Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
Won't be able to score, but stone King's going to
fill him on the shot.

Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
G O. Cartwright gonna head to the free throw line.
Cartwright averages about eight a game because you have to
score here this seven.

Speaker 4 (01:30:33):
There's seven comments. There's seven out of eleven from the
charity strike. First free throw is good. They've made their
last five in a row from the charity strike, including
the two at the end of the game to tight.

Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Heart right, will get another to try to push the
comment lead to two. Shot up good forty one thirty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
Central crossing in front.

Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
Cox will walk it up. He crosses the timeline, will
be guarded by Gordon. Cox handed off the Hammon, Hammond
left side, stone King, Stone King hands off the Miller,
Miller up top Hammon, doctor Miller, Miller hard penetration in
the right hand.

Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
Gets all the way to the rim. Shot up on
the rim. No good, and I think it's gonna be
last touch by ham and Miller. Had an outstanding lane,
got it up on the rim and it just didn't
quite fall.

Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
And I'm gonna go back to the comments. As cart
Liggan returns the line in cart A, Liggan replaces Hammon.
Coach Beard is telling you the little offense defense wanted
to get Carta in there defensively. So Gordon is gonna
walk it up to comments with a two point lead.

(01:31:55):
Now you can expect them to look to grind it
here a little bit. Thompson has it way out top
comics really really spread it out now, Gordon has it
up outs the Thompson two ten, Miller out there pressuring
there out of Taylor, all the way out by the

(01:32:18):
volleyball line. The comments have it stretched out. They got
the Cavs chasing a little bit Thompson all the way
to the rims shot up, didn't needed it all, forced
it a little bit. Tiz out in an open little opportunity.
Stone King stop and go give his way to Carte
ligging and they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
Call stone King.

Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
After the pass he follows through and uh hits Mawlins
and they're gonna they're gonna call the offensive foul. Tough
break there for the Cavaliers. So with one forty seven
to go, forty one thirty nine Central crossing on top,

(01:32:59):
Camon's to return of the lineup, replacing stone King, be
bound out to Thompson. He'll give way to Gordon. Gordon
brings it up against Cox, Gordon across the timeline. Now
the little crab dribble now goes through the legs, gives
way to Mullins. Maulins off the cart right down load

(01:33:21):
to a cutting Gordon, and they're going to call the
file on the floor, So no shot.

Speaker 3 (01:33:26):
The rechin is going to be caught on Caden, Cox
and Andreas. Gordon's gonna go back to the free throw line,
and at forty one thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Nine, if he's able to convert both the calves are
going to find themselves for the first time this evening,
trailing by two possessions. Gordon's first free throw is good,
so he's certainly found his uh his free throw stroke.
After starting oh for four on the evening, He's hit

(01:33:55):
his last five and they hit their last seven.

Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
In a row. Gordon's second attempt also good.

Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
Forty three thirty nine Central crossing by four bight comes Cox,
Cox into the corner to Hammon up top.

Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
It's Miller.

Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Miller tries to penetrate off the bager Badger all the
way to the rim lay up.

Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
No good car Tate.

Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
Legging, extra effort in the putback basket in.

Speaker 3 (01:34:25):
The file Carteate Liggan when his team needed it the most.

Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Off of the miss lay up from Badger, the freshman
working hard has a chance for the old fashioned free.

Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Forty three forty.

Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
One Central crossing. Ligan will get one free throw with
one thirteen remaining free throw up and good full time
out Tilikafee Central Crossing by one. We'll be back in
thirty seconds. Shank Holms, Greg Bigham, you're listening to Tillikafie

We're in overtime. Central Crossing leads at forty three forty two,
a fresh off of three point play there from carts Hey.
Ligan to cut that four point lead down the one
and mile Central Crossing, Grego have a full length to.

Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
Floor and you see what Chilicothee decides to do defensively here.

Speaker 4 (01:35:55):
Well, we don't want a foul Cartwright, right, Cartwright's probably
won the top shooters.

Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
Gordon has certainly found his strope.

Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
Corson wants to have made all the foul shots.

Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
Well if Cartwright was the Yeah, Cartwright had made the
two earlier, and then Gordon made the two there to
follow him.

Speaker 4 (01:36:12):
But that was obviously the Cavs losing Cooper on the
five fouls, so Carte leggan that was a huge three
point play.

Speaker 5 (01:36:22):
You're down four.

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
You missed the shot Cam tried to drive in was
kind of off balancers threw it up there and somehow
Carte got the rebound, put it in, made the big
free throw or only one down.

Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
Both teams in the bonus. So from this point on,
every foule is going to be two shots.

Speaker 4 (01:36:38):
Yeah, gonna be tough to get a steal. Then maybe
a foul number twelve down there Hammond's garden twelve. He
gets the ball at almost foul twelve under a minute,
one of their different guys that hadn't.

Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
Shot Gordon across the timeline there. I'm all that now,
Chilicothie'll show a little trap. Thompson comes out and breaks
the pressure and Al Thompson splits the double team gets
all the way the remm up and under no good
On missed everything on the layup out comes to Chilicoffee
with a chance to take the league.

Speaker 3 (01:37:06):
Miller right hand dribble into the middle.

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
Dumps it off had him and him and didn't see
it and they throw it away forty three point seven seconds.
They turn it back over to the comments him be
on to Gordon. Gordon, guarded by Cox, Cox with some
ball pressure, sprints ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
Gordon now breaks the ten town across the timeline.

Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
Gordon Bager comes up the double team give away to Malins,
and we're gonna have a timeout.

Speaker 3 (01:37:37):
Central crossing. Let's stay here this time and reset everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
We're at thirty seconds to go here in the first
overtime forty three forty two Central crossing. Coming out of
a timeout, we're gonna have a side out of bounds.
Chila Coffee. Probably wouldn't have to file right away, Grega.
They don't choose suit certainly, time to maybe trap and
come up with a steel. And then you're also talking
about I'm sure who would.

Speaker 6 (01:38:01):
You like them?

Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
Hopefully they're talking about who they want to foul here,
and like I said, you know, maybe Mollins, who's not
I don't think he was a starter, and he may
make both of them, but I think every free throw
has been taken by either Cartwright or Gordon here down
the stretch. So man, they took the ball to the bucket,
got in a hurry. We did a great job defensively
had the ball, you know, one made a great pass.

(01:38:22):
It just I think it caught Andrew by surprising under
the bucket. I think everybody thought the middle ball was
going to shoot it, and he did, got down the lane,
he didn't shoot. He passed underneath and went out of bound.
Tough turnover, but still got thirty yeah, thirty seconds. So
well you shall see even if they make a two,
he got a chance for for maybe a three to
tie it. And I apologize the listeners. This is this

(01:38:44):
is the poor call on my part.

Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Did stunt king.

Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
I believe it was his fifth foul the foul and
that was my fault. I thought it was his for
I thought they were going offense defense. So I apologized
the listener. So Cooper out of the call because Cooper
passed the ball on the follow through.

Speaker 5 (01:39:00):
Yeah, and he didn't have the ball when he got
called for a charge offensive found.

Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
Sight out of bounds, Gordon inbounded. I'm gonna throw it
all the way to back court to Thompson again thirty seconds.
Cock's gonna go ahead and pressure there for a momentary,
tried to poke it away. Now across the timeline Partwright
has it in the middle. They go to the corner
to Taylor down underneath the Maulins, and they had a
chance to Filing and Dentton, and now they're gonna have
to file Gordon. You were talking about, you know, again,

(01:39:30):
all capable players, very good players, but you'd much rather
file someone who's maybe not shooting the basketball as much.
Throughout the evening, Mallins has been outstanding in his role.
I think he's taking two or three charges offensive rebounds.

Speaker 5 (01:39:42):
That's the guy you probably wanted to found.

Speaker 2 (01:39:44):
I had a chance to Filing and Ddton. Gordon's first
free throw is good forty four forty two. Even if
he makes it, Cabs will have a chance down just
one possession. Let's see if it's two or three. Gordon's
sucker free throw no good up high for the rebound

(01:40:05):
is by Well, but he knocks away in Cops has at.

Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Forty four forty two.

Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
Miller comes across the timeline and uses the timeout full
time out will stuff away stay with It's going to
be an exciting finish. Central Crossing by two calves basketball.
This is Shank Holmes, a great big of Chilo Cooffee
boys basketball, fourteen ninety WBX.

Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
Welcome Back, the game clock reads eight point two seconds
to go here and over time forty four forty two
central crossing.

Speaker 3 (01:41:07):
It'll be chili coffee basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:41:09):
Coming out of the time out again Stone King has
spoiled out, so Coach Beard will have Hammon, Badger, Miller, Cox,
and Liggan on the floor and Greg. It seems like
we've we've been here six seven times throughout the year
where the Calves have played a lot of close basketball,
and what we've done every time is try to give
the ball out front to Kayt and Cox and let

(01:41:31):
him go to the bucket.

Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
It doesn't a lot of time. Most of the times
it's tough for kten to get a shot. A couple
of times he's got trapped or double team when he's
going down the lane. So it's the type of thing
now that's your best offensive unless you can get it
back to Andrew for a good shot here.

Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
But we shall see.

Speaker 5 (01:41:49):
You just got to be careful.

Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
Chilich Coffee comes out, shows the shows, the set in
Central Cross. It will take a time out, so we'll
stay here. You make a good point there. You'd like
to get something to the rim.

Speaker 4 (01:42:02):
These guys veteran officials. They're not going to give you
a foul if you don't earn it.

Speaker 3 (01:42:05):
I think too. But and again I go back.

Speaker 4 (01:42:07):
If if they set it pick for Kate and you
try to free him up, I'd almost like to see
him take that jumper in mid lane. Get it enough,
maybe we can get a chance for a rebound with
cam insider Andrew, but I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:42:18):
Well, again, he's very good at getting to the bucket.
But that's what we've done.

Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
Chill Coffee is elected to let Kayden try to take
the ball to the bucket in these late game situations,
probably five or six times this year.

Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
Well, I like what you're talking about there. There's three
things that really keep an eye on.

Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
If you're chilicafee one is the initial you know, attack
of the basket.

Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
A lot of times you draw the help. You know,
you kick it out.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
You've got kate full three point shooters that could win
the game. And then if you get the ball up
on the rim, you like to get it up early
enough to give a card Ta Liggan or a cam
Badger on a hustle play maybe a chance to put back.

Speaker 4 (01:42:50):
So maybe central crossing. Have they scott at Chill Cosey?
Did they know Cox is the guy that you want
to try to go to the bucket? Kayden did it
at the end of regulation. He had to go coast
to coast and all he could do is get in
the corner for fade away three that he's out at
that point. The other thing is Carte rebound. Well, you
get us soon enough. Carte certainly can get a rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Here we go a him and the wind bound into
the back course of Miller seven six, give way to
Cox to the right hand ribbel down underneath the Carte
ligging out the miller for free. No good rebound central crossing,
and the horn goes off and the comments are gonna
get out of the LSB Hatten Memorial Gymnasium with a

(01:43:30):
forty four forty two win over the Chilicothee Cavaliers and
over time, toughnight for the Cavaliers that.

Speaker 3 (01:43:38):
Come up on the short end.

Speaker 2 (01:43:40):

Speaker 2 (01:46:54):
iHeart welcome back to Chilicoffee High School. Kind of a
heartbreaker for the Calves here this evening as they fall
forty four to forty two in overtime. It was a
game that they probably led, I would say ninety to
ninety five percent of regulation. Central Crossing didn't get its

(01:47:16):
first lead until later in the second half, and even
then it was pretty short lived as they went back
and forth. You can look back through the game, Chilicoffee
got off to a great start, let it as much
as what eleven to nothing. Central Crossing used the time
out to get it back to thirteen seven. Eventually there
at the end of the first quarter the Calves by six,

(01:47:37):
and then in the second quarter a little bit back
and forth. The game slowed down a bunch. At the half,
Chilcoffee let it twenty to fifteen. At the end of
the third quarter it was Chilicoffee still on front, in
front twenty nine to twenty five. We were tied to
thirty nine all when we headed to overtime, Cat and
Cox did have a baseline probably about a six teen

(01:48:00):
seventeen footer to win it, unable to get at the fall,
they go to overtime. According to my notes here, I
don't think Central Crossing had a field goaling overtime. They
made good on all five of their free throw attempts,
for five or six of their free throw attempts, and
they hang on to win.

Speaker 3 (01:48:16):
At forty four to forty two. Yeah. Great.

Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
Taking a look at the numbers after that hot start,
seemed like Chilla Coffee just didn't get a whole lot
of possessions or shots at the basket, especially when you
consider tempo and then the turnovers.

Speaker 4 (01:48:29):
In the end of the game. This could be double
checkman numbers. I had Central Crossing shoot the ball forty
five times, we shot at thirty.

Speaker 5 (01:48:36):
Seven times, and we just didn't get a lot of shots.

Speaker 4 (01:48:38):
And I think the huge number that jumps out at me,
and we could have had more than this because the
action got kind of hecticcked the end. I have Chill
Coffee with sixteen turnovers. And in a possession game like
that where Central Crossing grinds it out, you don't have
many possessions.

Speaker 5 (01:48:53):
You turn it over sixteen. It's like turning over twenty
four times.

Speaker 4 (01:48:56):
Maybe in enough tempo game, but sixteen turnovers I thought
really hurt the Cab couple crucial turnovers the end of
the game and there in overtime when they were trying
to run the time out and give Central Crossing credit
to winning by two. Shooting wise, Central Crossing one in
the defoul line, they were twelve of sixteen from the
charity stripe. They made their last one two, three, four, five, six, seven,

(01:49:18):
eight nine for not when they missed the last one
nine out of their last ten to help win it.
In the ballgame Chilicothe on the other side, from the
charity stripe, they were seven of eleven, not bad, but
we got outscored by five from the charity stripe. Shooting
on the night again, thirteen of forty five for Central Crossing,

(01:49:39):
that's just barely thirty percent. They were six out of
fifteen from the three point line tonight, which helped him
out Cavs sixteen out of thirty seven. I had him
at forty three percent and we were only three out
of eleven from just under thirty percent from the three
point line as well, So good free throw shoot hooting

(01:50:00):
down the stretch to a team like Central Crossing and
the sixteen turnovers limited possessions for the Calves. I think
that really hurt down the stretch and stone King filed out.
We get down to the end, we you know, I
do credit. I was not trying to be critical. I
just seeing every time. I think it's a lot for
a sophomore Kayden to try to go to create a shot,

(01:50:20):
and we did try to run a flight at the end.
We tried to ditch it inside and we had the
ball with Kate and he looked inside and got kicked
out and won. The best he could do was try
to get a shot off, but not to be and
they lose it by two, and I thought that's just
a tough loss for the Caves Stunt.

Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
Look at some individual scoring.

Speaker 2 (01:50:36):
First, for the Tulicoffee Cavaliers, they had one player in
double figures. That was Andrew Hammond. The sophomore had fifteen
points on the evening, hit two three pointers, and then
it was eight for cart A Liggan, seven for Cooper
stone King before filing out, five for Cam Badger, four
for Caden Cox and three for one Miller to equal

(01:51:00):
Chili Coothe's forty two points over on the winning side
for the comments, they're outstanding talent. Andres Gordon finished with
sixteen and Greg what jumps out at me there as
the Cavs held him to two in the first half.
But then what a lot of great scorers do when
they're having trouble from the floor, they get to the
free throw line, and he got there a bunch there
in the second half. Hey good, I believe on seven

(01:51:21):
of his final eight attempts, and again he finishes with sixteen.
Nathaniel Thompson also in double figures with thirteen. Robert Taylor,
big night for him from a role player at the
guard spot, hitting three triples for nine and then two
apiece for Miles Robles, Joe Cartwright and Dawson Mallins. And

(01:51:45):
again you add all that up and it's forty four
forty two Central Crossing Beach Chilicothe well, I know on
the school night, tough loss.

Speaker 3 (01:51:54):
I don't know if we'll get to talk to Coach Beard.
Why don't we take about.

Welcome back to Chilicaffee High School. In the post game
here is the Cavaliers come up two points short and
overtime tonight to the visiting Central Crossing Comments appreciate you

night FAC action as the McLean Tigers come calling. Next

(01:53:35):
Tuesday night Chilicothee's final home game against the Logan Elm
and then that following weekend a Friday Saturday FAC back
to back at Jackson at McLean to finish it out.
And Greg, we talked about trying to get to that
magic number. Now Chilicoffee will need all four of those
to reach that. Certainly doable, but obviously make it tougher

(01:53:56):
on themselves.

Speaker 5 (01:53:59):
Yeah, no doubt about and we'll see.

Speaker 8 (01:54:01):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:54:01):
I guess the one good thing you get to come
back and play right away Friday night. It's a league game,
So hopefully the Cavs this one will hurt a little bit.
I know they were sitting in there thinking, you know,
while we we probably should have had that one won,
but they weren't able to pull it out down the
stretch and central crossing. I think when when you get
to that possession game and you get down to the
end at the end of the game and in overtime,
their offense of just grinding it out paid off more

(01:54:24):
than the type of offense we were able to get
in there at the at the end and paid off.
And you know they've only won four games. They were
excited Central Crossing and I'm very excited about getting to
win here.

Speaker 3 (01:54:35):
Greg. I think we'll step away there tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
I know Coach Beard's always good to come out, maybe
