this evening for a makeup match up as the Chilicothee
Cabit leaders make the trip over here to hills Road
to try for a season sweep with the Indians and Greg.

These two guys together back there on December thirteenth were
Chili Cooffee then one with a six point victory and
an opportunity here tonight another FAC matchup with Washington Courthouse
Friday night, Chilicoppy Over about a four or five day span,
your chance to really make some ground up in the FAC.
What excites you about tonight's matchup?

They were able to win last time and it's a
tough place to play down here at Hillsborough. They've got
several seniors, but hopefully they can carry over that win
on Saturday night against Greenup. They Yeah, when you look
at the fac Miamu, Trace is undefeated.

But on any given night, I think the Cavaliers have
a shot to win. On any given night, they probably
have a shot to lose. It's it's pretty balanced.

I think with their talent, it's just a matter of
them accomplishing a little bit more experience wise. They couldn't
finish out against Fyman Trace at.

we had a pretty rockous crowd, a lot of support
for him that night and they were able to roll
on to win. But hopefully can get off to a
good start tonight, not fall behind early here against Hillsborough
and not get key guys in fout trouble with well.

game of the year. That's the night they put the

I know and the two of us felt like they

he was an FAC All League selection in an All
District selection last year, is just a freshman now a
sophomore Both of those guys now a senior sophomore coming

capable in any given night of really putting the team
on their back. I thought in the first matchup one

Kayden Cox has kind of been consistent in that range

those guys can lead you on to given night. I
think one of the keys tonight is you can't let
those guards penetrate get to the bucket that's hurt us
a lot of times.

One will probably guard as you said, He'll have Tate
Davis and we'll see how the other matchup. But watch
the game. If von Miller gets in foul trouble or
if he comes out, who has to guard Tate Davis.
I think with Kayden Cox being tall and lanky, it's
tough on him sometimes to take on that point guard
or that quick guard. So you know who steps up

to guard that time cooper wise, but I think Wan's
got to stay out of foul trouble, and Wan's got
to be the key that you talked about to try
to hold Tate Davis down.

I love what you said about foul trouble because the
one thing I would think we'd go at the top
of the scouting report and trying to contain them is
the penetration that you referred to, and along that line
is the ability to go without fouling.

really converted a high level. I was telling you before
we went on the air that Tay Davis shot nineteen
free throws in a game earlier this year.

happens is when that penetration happens, it opens things.

they really match up pretty well.

And you know, I was reading up on hills Row
to kind of see how they've been doing in the
last couple of weeks, and as I've read some quotes
from head coach Josh Holland, you know, a lot of
times they they've been able to go to Dixon and

bringing a little bit of energy. So with them playing
the small lineup, also be interesting to see if they

Hillsborough's taking advantage of that. When we've gotten the shots

better start. They jump out fourteen to four to Hillsborough

of that quarter, and then Hillsborough's completely dominated the second quarter,
eventually leading twenty two to nineteen. Chilicopy looked like he

was going to grab the lead at twenty three twenty
two and take it to the half, and then unfortunately
they're off of the tip on the Highland three pointer.
Captain evidently got it off in time to put Hillsbrough
on top by one. Taking a look at the numbers,
I assume if you'd break it down by quarter, you'd basically.

Take turns of talking about how well both teams played well.

For the Cavaliers, we told you they were eight out
of fourteen in the first quarter, and the second quarter
they go two of twelve, as you said, a tale
of two quarters. They also only had one turnover in
the first quarter, five and the second, so nothing went
well for them. And yeah, not horrible shots. Again, a
lot of their shots are taking it to the hall.
He has some short baseline shots and a lot of contact.

Couldn't get them to fall. And I that Carte legend
a huge rebound to get us the two points and
get us off the snide there in the second quarter.
But for the half, Calves wind up ten out of
twenty six that's about thirty eight and a half percent.
They were only two out of seven from the three

They are a little bit just just a really interesting
game to call it and I think the numbers will
kind of illustrate that, and I we might not get
a chance to talk to Coach Beer because I know

But uh, I think he could be as proud tonight
of this suffered by by Chilli Coffee. They just had
to grind it out with a lot of effort. Looking
at the numbers for Hillsborough, I had them with ten turnovers,
Chillicothy with twelve turnovers, so that was pretty even. Hillsborough
on the night had them twenty of forty nine unofficially

for forty one percent. They were seven of fifteen from
the three point line, so they were just under fifty percent.
Shot to three very well tonight, but five of eight
for Hillsborough from the free throw line. Fort Chillicothy again,
I had them with twelve turnovers. They wind up the
night they first quarter, in the third quarter, they shot
sixty percent the first quarter over seventy percent a third quarter,

(01:38:36):
barely made a basket in the second quarter, but I
thought they were tough in the final quarter. Total on
the night twenty four of fifty three forty five percent,
three to twelve from the three point line. Almost those threes,
I think all came in the first half. We didn't
take a lot of threes a second half. I give
them credit twenty five percent. And then I had them
six out of ten from the foul line, so we

gained a point. Six free throws for us, five for
them from the retho line. We'll get outscored by four
to three. They had four more threes than Chila Coffee did,
but Hillsboro I had them with only thirteen to two
pointers and meanwhile we had twenty one to two pointers. So, man,

I want to go into that third quarter and highlight
a key defensive stop from Carter Williams, a big time
bucket from Noah Netter. I know, maybe maybe down a

little bit in terms of depth, and you needed them,
and man, they really up and provided you a little
spark there.

They more soly did you know, I had to make
a substitution change due to something I didn't like what
I heard. So then some of the younger guys got
an opportunity to come in and and I knew they
were nervous, but they give us great minutes off the bench,
executed offense as well. Just something you know they can
build upon. I've been telling them all year. We're the

second half of the season, so don't be surprised by
sticking in there a few minutes here or there, just
to get your feet wet.

So I think they did a tremendous job for us
when they're in there tonight.

You know, coach Andrew Hammond comes to mind here with
you play such a versatile lineup that oftentimes you know
Andrew and and Cam they they're giving up some size
on the one end, but then on the other end,
what happens.

It's the reverse effect.

Andrew's really becoming a tough matchup for your opponents. And
he's had back to back huge nights to show for.

Yes, he's finally getting it going.

We know he could shoot the three ball, but what
he does as far as rebounding, he's always in the
right place at the right time, finishes very well around
the rim. You talked about their versatility. Yes, we might
give up some size on the defensive end, but offensively,
if you notice, you know, Cam Badger and Andrew Hammond
are always around that bucket that rim, trying to give

us second sands opportunities. And I think Andrew had twenty
points a night. The second night he's had a big nine.
I think he's starting to get things going. So now
we just need what I wish we could have. I
wish we could have Coop, and Andrew and Caden Cox
all three going at the same time.

You know the guy that I'm liking is Carte Liggan.
He has come he's an athlete. Yeah, I think he's

a Division one football player. Let's face he's that kind
of athlete. But he basketball knowledge wise and fitting in.
He has come so far, he's gained confidence. He took

the ball, he got a big rebound for you couldn't
score in the second quarter, He gets the rebound, took
the ball to the buck in the second quarter, and
he made a big foul shot down the stretch. It's
tough on a freshman and he wasn't able to But
I thought he had a great game. And you know, likewise,
I thought guys that played very well, uh And I
kept saying that down that fourth quarter Cooper and and

(01:42:14):
Cayden had to guard their two guard knows that's not
an easy Simon Holland and Davis can play. And I
thought those guys gave you such a defensive effort tonight
trying to guard those two guys who did the ground.

Speaker 15 (01:42:25):
They most certainly did, and I kind of I think
it really affected the offensive end a little bit for him.

Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Sure did shot for coming up short because Legs retired.

Speaker 15 (01:42:32):
But that's the beauty of it when when you have
two guards who can guard like that or longer, and
then you still have some guys behind him that can
go in and make sure we got the correct scoring
and be able to do things correctly.

Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
That's what really makes a special Carte. He's a different breed.

Speaker 15 (01:42:48):
I mean, he brings the type of energy to the
basketball floor that I don't think we've seen here in
a long time. Yes, he's still learning on the ball. Defense,
is very good off the ball defense. Was still working
on that. But when he attacked exact glass offensively, you
know he's attacking that glass.

Speaker 5 (01:43:02):
I can jump, picking jump, we can get off the
flour and usually when he's.

Speaker 15 (01:43:06):
Down there he finishes. Been working really Harlan's free throws.
I believe it's four for four down down the stretch
and free throws which helped still the game. So I'm
very proud of that young man. He's really been putting
in the work and I'm looking forward to see what
he does here in the future.

Speaker 4 (01:43:19):
That My final comment is, I don't It's hard to
think back, but I don't give them back the whole season,
maybe even the last year. That might be, in my opinion,
one of the best team wins where so many people
contributed you've had in a while.

Yes, we went in a halftime and that was the
first thing I highlighted.

Speaker 15 (01:43:35):
We're up nineteen and nine because we were moving the
basketball and we didn't care who was shooting. And it's
that dreaded second quarter. I mean, you can look at
it all year long, the second quarter. We don't score
much in the second quarter. It's because guys think it's
their turn to go score and we're not built like that.
We're built as a team to keep moving the basketball,
make the extra pass.

Speaker 5 (01:43:54):
Get a better shot. And I thought we did that
better than the third and fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Well, coach, one final comment for me would would be
maybe a two part question. I thought your situational basketball
was really good down the stretch where it's cost fuble
to hear in weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
That shows a lot of growth. How can that really
help you as you come into another tough, tough weekend.

Speaker 15 (01:44:11):
Well, I think it's really going to help us a
lot because I keep preaching to these guys learn how
to win. And we were down at some point in
the fourth quarter, we battled back, we found a way
to win. So I believe that's going to give us
some confidence. And we keep talking about stacking wins. You know,
this is the first back to back win we've had
all year. Yep, so guys are excited. I told him
We got a great opportunity on Friday, playing a really

good at Washington Courthouse. Another opportunity at home to get
another win, to stack another win and continue to find
ways to win going into the tournament time.
