Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for Chilicoppie High School basketball action on the
home of the Cabs fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, aDNA Health System and Hower Funeral Home.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good evening everyone, and welcome to hill Through High School.
Shane Combs, Greg Bigeman hill In fourteen ninety WBX on
the AM side ninety two point seven FM and of
course Worldwide and the I Heart and we are here
this evening for a makeup match up as the Chilicothee
Cabit leaders make the trip over here to hills Road
to try for a season sweep with the Indians and Greg.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
As I welcome you in.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
These two guys together back there on December thirteenth were
Chili Cooffee then one with a six point victory and
an opportunity here tonight another FAC matchup with Washington Courthouse
Friday night, Chilicoppy Over about a four or five day span,
your chance to really make some ground up in the FAC.
What excites you about tonight's matchup?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
They were able to win last time and it's a
tough place to play down here at Hillsborough. They've got
several seniors, but hopefully they can carry over that win
on Saturday night against Greenup. They Yeah, when you look
at the fac Miamu, Trace is undefeated.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
But on any given night, I think the Cavaliers have
a shot to win. On any given night, they probably
have a shot to lose. It's it's pretty balanced.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
I think with their talent, it's just a matter of
them accomplishing a little bit more experience wise. They couldn't
finish out against Fyman Trace at.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
The four point lead. But tonight's matchup.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
You had the last game against Hillsborough, but I think
we had a pretty rockous crowd, a lot of support
for him that night and they were able to roll
on to win. But hopefully can get off to a
good start tonight, not fall behind early here against Hillsborough
and not get key guys in fout trouble with well.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
That night you're referring to, that was the first home
game of the year. That's the night they put the
name Thomas in cup at court there on the court
at the els, the hat in memorial Genazy when you're right,
a lot of alum, we're back, standing room only, incredible crowd.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
And Chili Cooffee played really well.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
You know, to highlight your point on the FAC from
top to bottom, Miami trace Is at five and o
Jackson at five and one, and in both of those
cases Chilicothe in their first round matchups with those two
teams identical losing spot fifty four to fifty two, where
I know and the two of us felt like they
had a great opportunity in the fourth quarter of both of.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Those games to win. So you know, you come in.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Tonight Washington Courthouse at three and four and then Chilcotee
and Hillsborough matching.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
FAC records at two and three in.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
McLean and oh and six. So again to showcase what
I was talking about there in the opening of When
the Night Moves you ahead of Hillsborough, finishes the season
sleep and.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Then you welcome the Courthouse in Friday Night, certainly a
great opportunity well.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Taking a look at the night's matchup, the Hillsborough Guard
plays outstanding and is led by Tate Davis to the
Rainy FAC.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Player of the Year All High of a year ago.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
And then the sophomore back court and mate Jack Allen,
he was an FAC All League selection in an All
District selection last year, is just a freshman now a
sophomore Both of those guys now a senior sophomore coming
in average right around eighteen a game, and both are
capable in any given night of really putting the team
on their back. I thought in the first matchup one

(03:24):
Miller did an outstanding job on Davis Allen.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Didn't get loose a little bit with that formula of defense.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
As long as four Cavaliers in double figures hots sixteen
back as are fourteen, ham And twelve and Stone teen eleven.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I know I'm talking to you.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
You feel like that's the formula when when Chilicoff didn't
really share the ball.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
And get a lot of people in bulk, that happened.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
I think about the last three or four games, the
Jackson game, one Miller let.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Them with fourteen or fifteen, come back Stone King.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
At twenty some, and then Saturday night upsteps Andrew Hammond
with twenty plus points.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
So I think that's we'll see.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Kayden Cox has kind of been consistent in that range
of anywhere from ten to fourteen points, but any of
those guys can lead you on to given night. I
think one of the keys tonight is you can't let
those guards penetrate get to the bucket that's hurt us
a lot of times.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
This year.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
One will probably guard as you said, He'll have Tate
Davis and we'll see how the other matchup. But watch
the game. If von Miller gets in foul trouble or
if he comes out, who has to guard Tate Davis.
I think with Kayden Cox being tall and lanky, it's
tough on him sometimes to take on that point guard
or that quick guard. So you know who steps up

(04:40):
to guard that time cooper wise, but I think Wan's
got to stay out of foul trouble, and Wan's got
to be the key that you talked about to try
to hold Tate Davis down.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
Well.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I love what you said about foul trouble because the
one thing I would think we'd go at the top
of the scouting report and trying to contain them is
the penetration that you referred to, and along that line
is the ability to go without fouling.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Both of these.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Young men can go to the free throw line and
really converted a high level. I was telling you before
we went on the air that Tay Davis shot nineteen
free throws in a game earlier this year.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I believe made seventeen of them. So the last time.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
These two got together, I know Jack Allen got to
the free throw line ten times May nine, Davis only
four times. I think both of those were a technically,
remember that was the game we had the technical because
of the dunking and warm ups. But I thought the
ability to keep Davis off the line was where Van
Miller was able to keep him under control. And then
the inability to keep Allen off there is where he

(05:36):
had the bigger night. So again I think I like
what you're saying about.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
The foul show.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
I don't know if you you can probably remember from
the game, but I know in the what I remember.
But tonight, the Jav's was five out and they were looking.
They do a lot of passing on the perimeter, looking
for the lane to drive through, and I assume the
varsity you'll do something similar, very athletic at the.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Forward position, and then they obviously play off the talent
the two guards.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
But yeah, if you help, right, Yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
You know, really, if you think about it, Chili Cofee
kind of plays the I won't say five guards, but
you know four regard you know, certainly five verstatile guys,
and it's I thought it was a real fun matchup
to call the first time. I can't see why it
wouldn't be again tonight. Last thing I would put on
my notes for we take a break here. Uh, Hillsborough

(06:23):
comes in two game winning streak. Uh, they'll they'll visit
Jackson on Friday night. So obviously they're looking at it
the same way Chill Coathe, where I know, like Chili
Comedy has been the victim of scheduled two or.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Three times this year.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
I thought last night, losing a chance to play a
home game off of a home win, they got any impact.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
I mean, obviously you pull a lot of preparation in
the Central Crossing.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
And then you turn to the league opponent, you feel
like there's any impact on that.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Tonight the only positive And actually when I got the message,
I thought maybe they canceled it because they had played
Friday Saturday and didn't want to come back and play Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.
That's what five games in seven days. So I thought
that the DNA realized Central Crossing had the illness.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
But I guess a.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Positive and it would be maybe that gives their legs
a little bit of a break not having to play
a non league game. So, uh, I think we can
carry out from Saturday night. I look at a little
more positive in the fact that these two big league
games that they didn't have to be on their legs
last night playing.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah, just for the clarification you hit on that. I
know a lot of people reached out to me today.
It was all understanding illness throughout the entire almost the
entire team, five.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Or six kids we were.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
But I heard from Central Cross Crossing that game is
going to be made up next Wednesday night, February the fifth,
and everything. All the feedback I got today is we
will try to do that game. So next Wednesday night
that'll be another game. So you talked about a busy schedule.
We're here at hillsbro tonight, Washington Courthouse, comes calling on

(07:56):
Friday night, New Albany on Saturday night, and then come right.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Back next week with that that Wednesday night game.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
There's some pretty pretty business jedges coming up on about
three minutes ago and one apps we'll step aside for
a foot.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Time out and we'll come back and continue our pre
game coverage is Shank Holmes, Greg Bigham.

Speaker 2 (08:14):

To Hillsboro High School Shane Holmes and Greg Vic and
take a look at the night's starting lineups. First, for
the Chilicothee Cavaliers, as always coached Neil lenn A, Street
guards set out there with a couple of forwards in
the backcourt will be senior One Miller, sophomore Cayden Cox,
junior Cooper Stone teams, and then at the forwards, sophomore

(09:40):
Andrew Hammond and senior Can Badger. One more time for
the Cavaliers, it's Miller, Cox and Stone, king with Hammon
and Badger. Well the Hillsboro Indians, they're outstanding backboard that
we've highlighted in the free game segment there Senior Tate Davis,
sophomore Jack Hollan, a senior Braydon Hunter, senior Dylan Dixon,

(10:04):
and sophomore Trey Captain. So again for Hillsboro Davis, Allan, Hunter,
Dixon and Captain. We will step aside one more time
for tonight's national anthem and we'll be back after that
for the tip off and what should be an exciting
fac matchup. You're listening to Chilicothee Boys Basketball on fourteen

Welcome back. We're here at Hillsborough High School.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Shane Holmes and Greg Bigham and outstanding job by the
hills Blue Cut Band on the national anthem the night
and they're getting ready to announce the starting lineups as
I had given you just before the break, and Greg,
as we come up on the tip tonight. We mentioned
so much of the guard match up, but oftentimes what
happens is when that penetration happens, it opens things.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Up for somebody else to open up.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
And I think that's a big key too, I had
in my notes here, is not letting that.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Third or fourth Hillsborough player get off tonight.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Sometimes you can key on the guard so much that
they get theirs anyway, and then before you know what,
they have four guys in double figure.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
That was something they.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
Avoided in the first time, right, And I think I
remember last year they had a couple kind of big
football burlegu guys last year. But I remember I think
Braden Hunter in one of those games last year, worrying
about Davis and Holland was a freshman who I think
he had a great game down.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Here against the Cavs.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
But and then all of a sudden Hunter stepped in
with eleven or twelve, a little bit like the Cavaliers.
You know, you get that third guy scoring ten or
eleven points, and it makes a difference. And looking at
looking at scores, looking at the leg both two and three,
they really match up pretty well.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
They really do.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
And you know, I was reading up on hills Row
to kind of see how they've been doing in the
last couple of weeks, and as I've read some quotes
from head coach Josh Holland, you know, a lot of
times they they've been able to go to Dixon and
Taptain on the starting lineup and he feels like they're
bringing a little bit of energy. So with them playing
the small lineup, also be interesting to see if they

(14:02):
apply any pressure of Chilicopta cats sometimes handling the ball
against pressure in the back court, it's been a little
bit of a factor, so that'll be something to look
out for as well. With the lights off in and
the flash lights from the phone across the way, nice
atmosphere building here tonight at Hillsborough High School and we're

(14:25):
just minutes away from tip off here and what should
be a really really important FACA battle for the Chilicothe Cavalier.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Chilicoffee will be in their road blue.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
With the white numerals and Hillsborough in their home white
with the red lettering the numbers.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Hillsborough be moving from our.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Right to the left with because Greg and I are
lucky enough to be sitting down here at court.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Side with chilicoffee coming back left to right as we
call it for you here in the first half. And
Hillsborough's not a real tall team, that's you wise, I
don't think. Looks like maybe jumping center. There is Dylan Dixon.
It's about as tall as Kaden Cox, but other than that,
they're pretty much a perimeter looks like a perimeter team
as well.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
It'll be Dixon and Cox to get us started here.
One more check with the scores table official check with
both benches. They look across at one another. I think
we're set to go.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Offish will walk in.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
When the ball goes up, it's Cox up high to
get it back tap the stone King. He hands it
off the Miller and the Calves will have the opening
possession here this evening. Miller across the timeline down left
corner to him and inside Badgery squares up and goes
opposite stone King. Stone King looks like Hillsboro opens up
in a little bit of an extended zone, you know,
trying to trap when they can. Stone King hasn't knocked

(15:57):
the way into the Hillsborough bench. Calves will keep possess.
Got Davis up top really active here with some gall
pressure for Alan and Captain extended. They hit Cocks at
the high post. Touch pass out the stone King from three.
Hammon on the offensive. Glass gets to the Calves another possession.
Miller tries a three no good rebound. Howland saves it

(16:19):
in the Indians have it. Out comes Davis. He'll push
it with the right hand behind the back drivel pulls
up mid range shot too strong. Captain of Hillsborough runs
it dead back out to Davis. He'll look back. Coach
hallin here right to her right side, just a few
feet little back door action knocked away, well defended by

(16:41):
ChIL coffee to get.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
To steal out comes stone King with it.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
He goes left hand to the baseline, dumps it off
the ham and hamm and gets the shot up on
the rim and good strong move by Hammon. It up
feel a little bit of contact. Able to finish any way,
too much in chili coffee. Back comes Captain the other way.
Kind of forced one there a little bit Cox with
the rebound gets it out. The badger badger up off
the glass and the transition opportunity equals a can badger

(17:06):
layup and just like that, the Calves are out to
a four nothing start. It comes Davis, guarded by Miller,
comes left side howl and'll try three no good rebounding
Badger Badger pushes it out. The Cocks Cocks into the
open court cut off there on the double team gets
it inside to him and shot up on the glass
and good, and he's going to score and get fo

(17:27):
out and go to the line. And you know, Greg,
so far the story is defensive stoff on one in
quick transition the other way, Calves are having some luck.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
In the open floor.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah, transition has been great. You get to bowl down inside.
Two nice moves with in traffic by him and and
that time he absorbed the foul, made the shot.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
He gets to the free throw line. Four early points
for him and go ahead and.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Make it five as he adds the free throw in
Chilicothee out to a seven nothing advantage.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
We're just two minutes into the game. Hill'sbirl's thrown up
a couple of really quick shots. Captain has him on
the right side out top. It's holland they're off the switch.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Miller has him now penetrates into the middle, dumps it
off the captain underneath, and he lays it in a
little bit what we're talking about where the guard draws
all the attention.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
An easy bucket underneath for tray. Captain seven to Chili Coffee.
One Miller into the scrimmage area.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Hillsborough now matched up man to man, high entry to
Cox plays off a ball screen from Bagrick. Cox gets
to the left hand, jump stop down the middle and
score tough shot Kayden Cox.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
He got to that strong hand, which is his left hand,
and they will score it. And like he said, it
could be so good from that eight ten foot range.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Nine to two Chili CoFe Alan coming back the other way,
left side, it's Hunter.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
He'll drive hard to the left hand, spin back to
the middle.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Cook shot fake, fall up on the rim and scores
raiding Hunter outstanding footwork.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Use the shot fakers advantage and lay to them.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Nine to four Chilocife come to Caaves.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Miller has it up top. We're just three minutes into it.
Kas by five with the basketball. Miller on the right
side at Stone King.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
He thought about the three and now will drive hard
to the baseline, dumps it off. That's Badger, a beautiful
pass underneath for the Cox. Nothing there. Hammond with the try,
Cox with a tip, Cavs working hard on the offensive,
Glass can't get it the fall and out comes Captain
with it on the other end, drops a bounce past
off the holand he got a Cavalier in the air.
I couldn't see it off. I think Badger was.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Who got there in the air, and that's gonna be
the foul on hill of Kaffee.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
I's had all sorts of opportunities on the other end,
don't doubt the effort.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Just couldn't get the ball to go in.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
I thought cam maybe had the shot and he made
the extra fast to him and and Hammond was in
heavy traffic, got it up once, tried to tip it
a couple of times, just couldn't get it to go in.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Allen's first free throw, no good.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Matson dumper into the lineup out sending athlete Gray and
I were talking quarterback of their football team. Second free throw,
no good lane vilation on Hillsborough. So nine four will
rename the ChIL Coffee Lead four forty two first quarter.
Miller brings up with the left hand dribble, hands it

(20:16):
off the Hammond. Stone King's got it on the right side.
He'll go into to a pitch to the Cox pack
up ham In up top down on the baseline at
stone King. He'll jump stop into the middle and a
cutting ham and he dumps it off to him. And
Andrew Hammond acted in nearly going give stone King to
assist ham in another bucket.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
That was a perfect fast, easy lay in for him
at that time.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Eleven for Hammond was seven already calves by seven.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Four minutes into the game, Captain drives hard to the
right hand, blocked by stone King.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Stone King will go ahead and bring.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
It out, has it on the right side, goes over
ham and he'll try a three from the left. Wand
Andrew Hammond having a huge opening quarter. And that's when
I draw a quick time out because he knocks down
a three ball and the Cavaliers fourteen to four. It's
a short time out. Let's stay here, you know. Look,
we talked about it.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
The other night. Andreham went the big game and he's
picking up right where he left all.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Oh, you know, and we talked about it, but obviously
he's a year older, a little bit stronger. If football
helps Andrew be in the quarterback. But you know last year,
you're a freshman and you get in the corner and
he looks for that corner. He's a great three point shooter,
but his whole role has changed, especially.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
When Sysm's out.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
He becomes the big man, so he's working a lot
in the lane down under, and Andrew's gotten better better
getting into contact. He's done that tonight a couple of
times down inside, but he can still shoot to three.
He's a hard matchup for the other team.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Well, that's well said by you because with the big out.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Badger and him, and I know sometimes on the defensive
end have to ping with the big body, but on
the other end they're really versaal in construction four out.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Yeah, he's the big man inside and then he pops outside.
Tougher for a big man to guard, even who's able
to hit that three Hillsbrow.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Poss out of the time out. Davis brings it up,
gives way to Dumpert.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
He's on the right side.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
He's gonna drive hard against Hamm, and Hammon knocks it away.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Dumper gets it back. Yeah, another deflection from Badger there
also have ready to go right into the game for
Hills throw.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
I'll throw the side out of bounds all the way
to the back cord to Davis and he'll bring it
across the timeline guarded by Miller, Chili Kaffee and the
man the man defense Davis Ord to the right side.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
It's Dumport.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Now they'll look to play a little two man game
off a hundred, they'll reverse it all the way around.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
It's Davis. Davis to the right hand.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Nice job one Miller keeping him out of the middle.
Now off the ball string kicks it up top. Hunter
will try a three.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
No good.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Hawks comes flying in for the defensive rebound and he'll
turn and push goes left side Miller. He makes the
extra pass to the Cornerstone team with a good look.
Couldn't get the free to go loose ball on the floor,
and I think we're going to have a.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Chili coffee loose ball file. I think they got him and.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Cooper had a good look deep in the corner. Well,
if he hits that one, that would have really busted
with out.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
One of the Cavs.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Davis pushes the left hand dribble all the way into
the scrimmagery and.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Now Holland's got it.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Holland gets caught in the air, able to get it
back to Davis. ChIL Coffee doing a great job against
dribble penetration to this point. Now the baseline kicked. Uppert's
got it in the right corner. Wanted to get it inside,
not there. So they come back to Davis and continue
to run the offense. Davis against Miller, left side of
the Hunter into the middle.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Nice job of walling up there from stone King and Brayton.
Hunter just uses his strength.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
And gets the ball up on the on the glass
with the left handed scores to travel there, poked away there.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
From stone King.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Howland goes diving to the floor, and I think a
little too aggressive. They're going to get the talent that's
sophomore with the file. So I think that's uh, let's
see Jack Allen's first should be teams second. Chilicothe goes
to the bench for the first time as Carte Liggan
enters the game replacing Badger two O eight first quarter,

(24:24):
fourteen six Chili Coffee Cooper stone King right in front
of us and bounds it and he'll toss it all
the way to the back court to one Miller. He'll
bring it up. Miller penetrates to the.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Middle, kicks it left side the Cox.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Cox tried to get to the paint cut off there
by Davis back to Miller.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Miller tried to throw it down to Carte. Leggan had
a little bit too much on it, you know, ricochet's
off the Legan. I think that's the first turnover for
the Caps to hunt.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
That's a pretty good one of device they have, so
off that turnover, fourteen to six, remains the Chilicothee lead
one forty nine.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
First quarter, as Day just walks it up for Hillsborough
to play off. A high ball.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Screen goes to the left hand ribble, still guarded by Miller.
Now he retreats dribbling goes again. Well, I'm doing a
nice job, kicks it right side. Dumper thought about the three.
Al turns his hands at the Howland Holland high ball
stream to the left hand dribble. He shoots a deep
three in and out Cox with another defensive rebound, and

(25:23):
he's going to look the push Cox all the way
to the rim, knocked away by Holland and Allen comes
out with it Holland into the open court and he's
gonna get bumped there by ligging, and it's going to
be a Chili Coffee foul. Cox had a transition opportunity.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Hold those are the ones.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
And as Caden gets older, Uh, he's so talented to
get into the bucket.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
He can go one on two. That time he probably was.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
It was a tough matchup for him, and it happened
at the end of the couple. Sometimes when he goes
down the lane, they get a hand out and they
were able to get it away from him. And hindsight,
he almost wished he would have pulled out or again
stuff from ten feet the jumper.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
But he's so talented that and I don't blame him.
I agree, I agree.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Badger returns the line up and then Hitchins makes his
first appearance of the evening for Chili Cofee. So Hills
Brow at the basketball. Now it's Cox guarding Davis. Davis
will try a three no good good box out for Badger.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
But Hunter is able to run it down and win
an extra possession. Three try from the wing.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
No good Badger now with the defensive rebound out to
stone King chili cooffee with the ball leading by eight.
As we come under a minute to plug a good
shot here Cox waving Badger up top. So with Miller
off the floor, Badger has it on the right wing.
He drives play up, no good. Cartate Lgan goes high

(26:43):
for the offensive rebound and lays it in Carte. Legan
with his first basket.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Nice backside rebound by Carte just stepped right in and
put it up and.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
D Calves by ten sixteen six seventeen to shoot for
hillsbro Here in the first quarter, it's going to be
houling the Davis to try to take the final shot,
no doubt. Holan off the left hand ribble and I
think we're gonna get Cox on the bump. So at
ten point four o'clock will stop only the fourteenth foul,
so no free throws yet.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
As captain returns to the lineup for Hillsboro. That's the
second fouling. Cayden Cox is a tough matchup for him to.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Guard Holland all the way out top Howland with a
deep free and he got it dialed it up much
needed for Hillsborough.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Sixteen nine Calves have.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Free to shoot Stone King crossed half court, he throws
up that he takes it in two for stone King,
he answers the deep three for Holland, and as we
come to the first quarter Chilicoffee nineteen Hillsborough nine. You're
listening to Chili Cooffee Boys Basketball in fourteen ninety WBX.

Welcome back to Hillsborough High School, Shane Colbs, Greg Big.
I'm here on fourteen ninety WBX Chilcoffee with an outstanding
star if they lead.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
Hillsbrough nineteen to nine.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Greg, I had five different Chilicothee cavaliers in the school column.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
What are your numbers say with last star?

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah, I got him shooting fifty seven percent or eight
out of fourteen or two of five from the three
point line for forty percent. Hillsborough have possession to start
the second quarter and only two turnovers in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yeah, really efficient.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Davis on the drive tried to dump it underneath the captain.
ChIL CoFe was there on the rotation. I think they're
going to say last touch by Hillsborth So ChIL Cothy's
gonna get a stop and get a possession here as
they try to add to this pinpoint advantage.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Dulse World thirty three percent. They were four out of
twelve in the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Hammon has it up top hands off the stone Kin
Now ham and will drive hard to the right hand
on the baseline, little jump up, no good rebound. Captain
of Hillsborough out come the Indians on the left side.
Dump He'll pitch it to Davis, who's going to drive
hard to the left hand. Throws it all the way
back up top Holm. The size of Cocks when he's

(29:58):
able to stay in front, really giving him fits turn
around jump shot Mason Dumper and he knocks it down
his first bucket of the night. Cuts the ChIL coffee
lead to eight at nineteen eleven.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
That was actually a good defense. Surprised Dumper got the
shot off that he was able to make it.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Again. Kat and Cox said, ever, he's got the two fowls.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Cox gives way to stone King. Now stone King on
the right wind goes elbow entry to Badger. He fakes
the hand off, trikees hard to the right hand, rims
all the way around and out rebound. Hillsboro out comes
Davis with a Davis all the way to the rim,
plays to a lot of contact, ball out of bounds.
Are going to say a last touch by chilicopee, chilicoffee,

(30:42):
maybe a wave, a little bit.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Of lit badger win in wine up on the floor.
Davis drove her to the bucket. He winds up on
the floor even up. No foul either side.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
So Obi under opportunity for Hills were a little one
to four low set. They're going to enter it all
the way out on the left wing there to Dumper
and he'll walk it out and give way to Captain.
Captain down to the right corner. There it's Hunter hand
off Dumpert. He's guarded by him and he'll drive hard
to the right hand. Shot up, lock shot for him.

(31:14):
A nice job of avoiding the foul. Outcome stone King
with it goes down left corner to Cox. He thought
about the three. Now he's gonna left the calves reset
Cox in at the elbow, kicks out stone King. Stone
King comes off a high ball stream.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
At the Cox.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Good pacers here for chili coffee. Hillsbrow back in the
man the man defense Cox right side, it's Miller. Miller
rips through, drives hard to the right hand, mid range
pull up.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Jumper hits the side of the back of it.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Out comes Captain of Hillsborough, who drives hard to the
right hand, shot up too strong Badger of Chila Coffee
with the rebound coach Beard asking Cox slow it down
a little bit to see jogs right across the middle
of the timeline. Here the looks set penetration tick to
the right wing. Stone King in and out three ball

(32:05):
rebound Hunter of Hillsborough nineteen eleven.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Chili Cooffee Cavs have gone cold. A couple of shots
in and out.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Now it's Hunter three ball up top and Braydon. Hunter
has had a little bit of a hot hand here
in the early going. He has seven. That's the Chilicothe
lead to five. Davis scoreless. We talked about that and
Hunter stuffed up. Cox has it out top, gonna play
off a high ball screen from ham and then Hammon
will go off a flare screen from Badger Ham and

(32:34):
will try a three. That's short. Davis with the rebound.
Hillsborough's starting to get a little bit of a momentum here.
Davis playing downhill pull up jumper from the elbow, just
rims out rebound Hamon of Chili Coofee. That comes Cox
uptop stone King. Stone King drives hard to the left hand,

(32:54):
tried to get the ball up on the rim and
knocked out of bounds. Last touch by Hillsbrough. So four
remainning first half nineteen fourteen Chilatafee and the Calves will
have an ov under opportunity where.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
They'll go to a little triangle set.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
Calves made six of their first nine two point attempts.
Now they've missed five in.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
A row in the two point range.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Camon penetrates baseline, turns and pitches it out the stone King.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
And the stone King goes left side by Adger. Badger
to the baseline, now kicks it back to Stone King.
Of all kind of stuck on that side of the floor.
Not of dribbling right now.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Now back out the miller guarded closely by captain and
that's going to be an illegal screen.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
That's an easy call.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Cam Badger leaned in there and hot captain with the
shoulder and that's going to turn it back over to Hillsborough.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Carte Ligan will return of the Calves up nineteen to nine.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
Shane, it's the end of the quarter and we've almost
midway through the second quarter and the Calves have not
scored in this period.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Kind of been there something.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
They'll have a big quarter and in the next one
it Gilson were able to climb back in and Calv's
unable to put anything in the bucket here in the
second quarter.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yeah, that's well said. Just trying to stay in rhythm.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Holan to reject the ball screen and drive right for
the baseline, kicks it all the way to the left
wing to hunt, or he'll drive into the middle shot up.
No good fight for the loose ball between Ligan and captain.
I think captain knocked it out of bounds and it's
going to go back over to Chillicothe. Calves in desperate
need of just a good look, as Brag said, coming

(34:30):
up on the three forty seven mark of the second
quarter and Calves still haven't scored in the quarter. Miller
has it on the left side and he's going to
get fouled there by captain and just the first team foul.
So just side out of bounds for Chilcathe.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Baby Jav's winning tonight. They've got a big win in
the thirty to seventeen. I think the freshman won also.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yeah, so opportunity for the three game sweep here if
the Versity can get it done.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Belld to Hammond, gives it right back to Cox.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Cox looks to play high ball screen there with hamm
and again off of that flare screen al Cox will
get it back on the hand off from ligging, they'll
go to left side Stone king Stone king over to Miller.
Miller drives hard, left hand in the middle, gets the
shot up on the glass. No good out comes. Davis
and Hillsborough has numbers. He drops the bounce past the

(35:26):
Howland and he lays it in.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Jack Holland.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Had lay up cuts to Chilicothee lead to nineteen sixteen
timeout coach Beard.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
On the floor. It's going to be a thirty. So
we'll stay here. And you know, Greg, you talked about it.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Incredible rhythm in the first quarter, not many turnovers, getting
quality shots, and here in the second quarter, obviously when
the ball doesn't go in, it changes a little bit,
but the shot, the quality of shot has not.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Been nearly as good. Would you agree, I absolutely one
hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
The calves a couple of times drove and they stopped
in the short baseline from that's six to eight foot
or we got a couple of looks there. It's kind
of a tough spot. You got to have a nice touch.
Missed those. We missed a couple of threes, and I
think part of it Hillsboro just stuffed up their defense.
They're doing a little I think, as the game's evolved,
and if you agree or not, both teams have seen that.

(36:19):
They're allowing to be physical and probably I mean the
game's physical anymore, but they're letting them play and they're
letting you bump and be pretty physical. And I think
Hillsborough's taking advantage of that. When we've gotten the shots
in the second quarter, good bit of body contact.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
You just have to fight through it.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Chilicoffee possession out of the time out. They get Cocks
all the way to the rim and they're gonna call
him with the off arm and and the difficulty with that,
I think that's just his second. I think earlier that
they changed that file another way, so I think that's
his second. But the problem with that call is, as
you said, it's kind of a physical start to the game. Yeah,
that offensive player kind of plays through it and gets
called for.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
The all fall.

Speaker 9 (36:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
I thought that was a tough call to contact on
Kate and he's trying to protect the basketball on going
down the left side.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Of the lane gets called for a shove off.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
The tough call Dave us into a hand off the
howl and and he dials up a long distance one
and we're tied at nineteen. As Hillsbrough has scored all
ten points here in the second quarter, outscoring Chilo coythe
tend nothing to tie it up at nineteen. Back comes Miller.
He drives all the way to the block. He turns
and they're going to call another offensive foul, this time

(37:26):
on Jan Miller again playing through the contact. They said
he lowered the shoulder and created too much contact into
the defender. So back to back offensive files called on
Chili Cofee on the drive and hillsbro will take possession back.
At nineteen nineteen, two point thirty left in the first half,

(37:47):
Davis crossed the timeline now guarded by the Hitchins those
left side howl and one more time for three.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
This time this is everything.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
Outcomes Badger with the rebund stone King coming up and
tries to throw it over on the left.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
I thank you.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
The astended receiver was Hitchins, but he throws it into
the Hillsborough student section.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
But cams only had one turnover the first quarter scene,
and if you count the offensive fouls a turnover, they've
they got five here in the second quarter, and again
they still haven't scored.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Yeah, I think what three offensive fives?

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
So nineteen nineteen, coming up on the two minute mark,
Davis off the ball screen, jumps and throws it all
the way right corner to captain and he hits a
three tray. Captain the sophomore has five on the night.
Hillsbrow with its first lead at twenty two to nineteen.
I post it's ham haming a square up look to

(38:39):
go one on one, gets it all the way to
the rims shot up on the glass too strong. Captain
of Hillsborough at the rebound tries to throw it down
court to high and get Hitchins a lot of credit
for hustling back and able to get up in the
air and knock that ball out of bound. So it
will be Hillsborough's possession. But Hitchins definitely save two there
with that effort and transition.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
It'll be Hillsborough ball.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
I had obi under but kind of more toward the corner.
You don't see that angle very often out the dumper.
My Dumpert will look to bring Davis off of the
double up top out through it away. Now it's Davis
started by Hitchins. He gets around the corner lay up
too strong, knocked away and Hitchins at chilicoffee has it

(39:23):
and in transition Hillsborough knocked it away out of down
instead of the chili coffee basketball. Hillsborough leads at twenty
two to nineteen one, twenty five second quarter, and the
Calves are still looking for their first.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Points of this quarter. Oh for eight five turnovers. Not
a good quarter.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
Hitchings penetrates, turns and throws it back out to Badger.
Badger gets it all the way to the rim. He
just missed it, liging with the offensive rebound, and he
puts it up and d cards he ligging much you
needed basket just to take the lid off here and
he cuts to the Hillsboro lead the one at twenty
two twenty one. Play back comes. Davis drives hard to

(40:02):
the right hand, now guarded by stone King. Now he
retreat dribbles to break the camp. Now he'll want to
play downhill one more time. Stone King cuts him off again,
back to Dumper. See if Hillsborough might want to take
the last shot here fully five seconds Hunter has it
on the left wing, drives in. There's the same offensive
foul Cahol and just like that it goes right back

(40:22):
and that time it's Cam Badger that beat him to
the spot and Hunter extend into the right arm and
gets called for the offensive foul. So you know, Greg,
just like actual coffee'll come back with the possession in
a bucket, would put them back in the league. Kitchens
across the timeline now running the point. Stone King has it.

(40:44):
I've all screamed there from Living goes right side the Hitchins,
Hitchens a little stopping go shot, fake shot up ham
and working hard on the offensive glass and he turns
and puts it in. Andrew Hammond having a nice first half.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Nice rebound by hand em on the back side, went
up strong, got it in on the Hillsborough. I'm sure
he'll take the final shot. Probably gonna be Hallan or
Davis six to shoot. Davis has it up top. I
don't know if they see it off the high ball screen.
He's going to try a really deep free and.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
I think Stoneley might have got a piece of him.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
I don't think that can't say it did count. I'm
not surely they'll get together on this here, so we're
waiting to fish if they did count that, did you
see if they gave credit to them?

Speaker 4 (41:36):
It was a tip and I think it was captain
underneath it caught the hairball. I didn't think it was good.
But well, unfortunately Greg.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
And I do not get it, and they're gonna They're
gonna count the basket and UH.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
As a result, Hillsboro is going to take a twenty
four to twenty three lead as we arrive at halftime.

It's kind of an up and down until two quarters there.
You know, you look back, Chilicothe couldn't have scripted a
better start. They jump out fourteen to four to Hillsborough
time out. They let it nineteen nine by the end
of that quarter, and then Hillsborough's completely dominated the second quarter,
eventually leading twenty two to nineteen. Chilicopy looked like he

(46:15):
was going to grab the lead at twenty three twenty
two and take it to the half, and then unfortunately
they're off of the tip on the Highland three pointer.
Captain evidently got it off in time to put Hillsbrough
on top by one. Taking a look at the numbers,
I assume if you'd break it down by quarter, you'd basically.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Take turns of talking about how well both teams played well.

Speaker 4 (46:35):
For the Cavaliers, we told you they were eight out
of fourteen in the first quarter, and the second quarter
they go two of twelve, as you said, a tale
of two quarters. They also only had one turnover in
the first quarter, five and the second, so nothing went
well for them. And yeah, not horrible shots. Again, a
lot of their shots are taking it to the hall.
He has some short baseline shots and a lot of contact.

(46:57):
Couldn't get them to fall. And I that Carte legend
a huge rebound to get us the two points and
get us off the snide there in the second quarter.
But for the half, Calves wind up ten out of
twenty six that's about thirty eight and a half percent.
They were only two out of seven from the three
point line for the Cavaliers and again the six turnovers,
only one foul shot for each team taking the Calves

(47:18):
made theirs Hillsborough missed theirs. For Hillsborough, they're shooting the
same percentage and the half they are from the three
point line. On the half they're ten out of twenty
five forty percent. They're four out of ten for the
three point line. Also for forty percent. I have them
for four turnovers in the first half. I think Callum
will we can check your scorebook there. But they missed

(47:38):
their first four to three pointers and then hit four
out of their next five three point and then Klan
had a couple of those.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Yeah, he did. You look at the Hillsborough scoring.

Speaker 2 (47:46):
Yeah, it's hard to be too disappointed if your coach
Beard Hillsborough comes in averaging fifty nine points a game,
so to hold them to twenty four here in the
first half according to my score sheet here this is unofficial.
Of course, Tate Davis is scoreless in the game, so
they've done a nice job there. Holland does have eight,
as you mentioned, has two threes, and then seven for

(48:06):
captain he's hit one of the threes, and then seven
for Braydon Hunter who's hit a three, and then two
for Mason Dumper had equals to twenty four. You go
over to the Chillicotee side. Andrew Hammond had ten of
his twelve points in the first quarter, so he has
twelve here at the half. Then there's four for car
T Liggan on a pair of offensive rebounds and put backs,

(48:27):
two for cam Badger, three for Cooper stone King and
two for Cayden Cox. Add that all up and you
get to chilicothe twenty three. So when you go back
to the Hillsborough sides, the question I had for Greg
good news Tate Davis zero again that bad news we
talked about.

Speaker 3 (48:43):
When Hunter and Captain score, Hillsborough seems to play a
different level.

Speaker 4 (48:47):
I'm sure if you told coach here in a halftime
Tate Davis would have zero points.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
I mean, you know, Holland are here going to get theirs.

Speaker 4 (48:54):
But you're right to this other Hunter, I thought stuffed
up big times when they were having troubles scoring, got
in side for a couple buckets and then captain scoring
I think maybe the last five for him there with
a three and then that tip of the buzzer. So yeah,
this guy's have stepped up and all of a sudden,
I loot. The Cavs are down by one, and uh,
I don't know at halftime, offensively, we've probably gotten pretty

(49:19):
good shots.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
I don't know that Coach Pierre is gonna change a
whole lot.

Speaker 4 (49:23):
It's not like you're gonna change your offense at this
point in time of the season. But maybe just remind
him they got to be strong insight. One thing I
think we've done well is we've heard Hillsborough on the
offensive boards.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Yes, Liggan and Andrew Hammond are two guys that jump
jump right out at me in that category where it
was some put back baskets. Well two thirty left here
before the start of the third quarter Hillsborough twenty four,
Chili Cooffee twenty three. We'll take a quick time out
and Greg Bigaman Shane Holmes will be back with you

Speaker 2 (51:34):
Coming up on the third quarter action at the Chilicoffee
Cavaliers Trail Hillsbrough twenty four to twenty three, there was
a fast start for Chilicoffee up nineteen nine after one,
ended up taking them forever to score in the second quarter,
where finally park he legg Has got on the offensive
glass and was able to lay it in. Psilicoffee grabbed
the twenty three twenty two advantage put then on the

(51:57):
last play of the half a Jack Allen three pointer.
Of this tip we fought. The final buzzer went off,
but Tray Cafflins was able to get.

Speaker 3 (52:06):
It, put it in in time and the kidled at
the basket, and that's how we arrived at twenty four
to twenty three.

Speaker 4 (52:11):
Yeah, nineteen points the first quarter, only four in the second,
So hopefully Gaps can get off to a good start
here in the third quarter. So kind of amazing that
we talk about a tail two quarters. It was kind
of amazing. The difference between the first quarter was almost
unflappable for the cav did so well, got the ball
down inside, made some great passes, hit a couple of threes,

(52:33):
and then the second quarter just couldn't get it going.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
Part of that, you know, cad and Cox picked up
that second foul. He had to take Cayden out of
the game, so he'll lose a little bit of your
offense with sure, that was a little bit of it.
Good point.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Chilicot the lad possession to start the second half. Pox
is just going to come right off the ball, scream
gets all the way to the rim shot no good.
How comes Davis with it and nobody stops the basketball
and Tate Davis goes into in and lays it in.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
Twenty six twenty three hills Row by three.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
Hila Cothi starts cart A ligging in the second half
instead of Millers, so it's ligging Cox and Davis takes
it away out top and he goes down and he
missed the layah wow, all by himself.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
He just missed it.

Speaker 2 (53:16):
That comes Chilicothe, chance to capitalize on an unexpected mistake.
Here Bider has it up top. Allen comes in on
the help slaps it away. He tried to dump it
off down load the liggan and they end up throwing
it away. So Howland brings it up for the Indians,
goes left side. Davis shot fake from three, dits it

(53:38):
down low. Dix now dumps it off the captain and
he lays it in. Fast start for Hillsboro in the
third quarter.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
It's twenty eight twenty three Indians by five.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Cox stone King how get his way to buy drim
Badrian looks to penetrate and spins the middle, throws it
off the cop in the right wing.

Speaker 3 (54:01):
Now stone King up.

Speaker 2 (54:02):
Top, started by Howland. Now it's Badger. Badger gets in
the middle, pools up just inside the free throw line.
Shot no good, hamming up on the offensive glass. And
Andrew Hammond's nice night continues because he gets Chili cooffee
on the board here in the second half, and that's
at the free twenty eight twenty five.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
Hi comes Davis.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
Shane, I think and coach Beard came over here. And
because I'm sitting here thinking why isn't one Miller playing?
Because he's held Davis scoreless, he doesn't start here in
Davis scores already, but I think one Miller's injured.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
That's certainly something to look at. Here is Chilicothe been
seventy tonight? So you lose middle, get you drop to six?
Here stone King has it up top of them on
the high left point. There's left side to Hammond. Hammond's
gonna let a wing three go and he's got it.
Andrew Hammond having an outstanding evening, I have him money

(54:56):
officially here at the seventeen point points right side of Howland.
He'll try a three. Any answers to Jack Holland a
little bit tells Andrew him and anything you can do,
I can do better.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
Answers right back. Put the Hillsbrough up three.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
At thirty one twenty eight, stone Can drives hard to
the right hand jump stop has a knocked away loose
ball on the floor, and Ligan goes. And it's going
to be a tie up of Ligan and Howland. Possessionaire
is going to favor Hillsbro. A sub Dixon out and

(55:35):
Mason Dumpert will enter for Hillsbro.

Speaker 4 (55:40):
I'll double check when we get a time out, but
coach Beer to come over. I think when he took
our official score here, I think he was have my
headset on, but he was commenting, and I think it
was Awan Miller might have taken one in the mouth
or hopefully one can play again. Allan on the left
baseline drive pull up mid range, No good again a

(56:02):
fight for.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Loose ball. I thought we're gonna have a jump ball.
I think we're gon have a chili coffee foul. See
who they go?

Speaker 2 (56:10):
Yeah, they got stone King on the loose ball. Foul
ball was on the floor, Hillsborough was on the floor
with him.

Speaker 4 (56:17):
They say, Cooper dove over top on top of the
player to tige him up, and stone King called for
the foul.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
One four low set on the Hillsborough obie under. They
drop it inside the dumpard. He turns hands off the captain.
Captain on the drive shot up in a foul.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
See who they get here is? The official comes running
out in front of Score's table. Going to be Badger.
Cam Badger's fighting through a little bit of foul trouble
this evening. I think that's his third.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
That's going to be a decision time here for coach Beard, who,
as you said, if that is an injury to Miller,
kind of losing a little bit of depth. Captain's first
free throw no good. It's only Hillsborough's third free throw.
Think of them. I haven't made one yet. Captain will
get another to try to convert and he does free

(57:12):
throw good. Captain and the double figures with ten thirty
two to twenty eight Hillsbro Five minutes third quarter.

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Stone King comes up. It's going to be a Hillsboro fouls.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
He tried to hand it off the Cox and I
think Dumpert got a little aggressive trying to kind of
blow the hand up off and know a netter is
going to come up off the Chilicoffee bench and prepare
to check.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
In Can for camp. Hopefully no, it can help him
out here.

Speaker 4 (57:40):
Played well in the JV game because he usually plays
a couple of quarters of JV, so.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
He can hurt him on the boards with a lot
of big height advantage.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Cox on the side out of bounds, throws it into
Stone thing Stone king off a high ball screen from Hammon,
now goes left side. Cox thought about the three. Now
we'll up mid range at the free throw line and
got it. Greg, I know you really like that his game.
Cayden Cox with four thirty two thirty hills bro back
comes Davis. He dumps it off the dumper, tries to

(58:11):
go up over top of ham and shot no good
good defense from Andrew Carte Liggan with good position on
the defensive rebound.

Speaker 3 (58:18):
He's going to draw a foul.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
So Carte Logan give him some nice minutes to coach
Beard here this evening in Chili. Coaffee'll get the ball
back with a chance to tie, maybe even go ahead
with a three ball.

Speaker 4 (58:31):
And of course with one Outcoober stone King is kind
of picked up the fact he has to be the
point guard.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
Now stone King gives way to Ligan. Now Liggan gives
off the netter, who will try to reverse it to Cox.
Good denial here from hillsbro He usually the dribble to
break the five second count. Now he gets it back
to stone King. Stone King has it on the left side,
looks for Hammon in the post, drops him a bounce

(58:58):
past Hammon spin, first pivot shot up, No good, but
the foul again. I like the patients there and the
strength of Chilicothee taking care of the ball and getting
it inside there.

Speaker 3 (59:09):
Yeah, Cooper did a nice job. He was on the wing.

Speaker 4 (59:11):
He was being hounded all over defense over top of
him and made a nice entry bounce fast to him.
And and then Andrew has with the height, had a
little bit of a mismatch here. Andrew's first free throw
no good. Andrew leads all scores into basketball game with seventeen.
He'll get a second free throw to try to turn
it to eighteen. It's good thirty two thirty one Hillsbrough.

(59:37):
I won four minutes to go third quarter and on
the way up Cayden.

Speaker 2 (59:41):
Cox just gets a little bit too much body Coach
Beard telling him, got to get to the sideline. There
can't can't draw that contact again. The foul trouble is
going to start to add up. That's his third, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (59:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (59:53):
I know you want a pressure, but really getting in
foul trouble. Three on Cox when you say three on Badger.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Yes, Howland has it up top working against Stone King
comes right side, gonna handle off. Davi's going to try
a deep three shot, no good ligging up high for
the rebound, out comes Cox. He's across the timeline going
to the right hand dribble, gets to the elbow, pull up.
He got it again. There's that mid range jumper. Back

(01:00:20):
to back buckets for Cox. Thirty three, thirty two, chilicoffee back.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
In front.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Up the hunter, good health defense, docked away out comes
ligging with it. Fligan all the way to the rim,
lays it up and in carte ligging in the open
court in chili coffee now by three at thirty five
thirty two, three minutes ago.

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Sure right back to the action.

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Howland waste no time shot up from the right wing,
three ball.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
It's his four to three of the night. Thirty five,
thirty five hi, three minutes to go.

Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
Third quarter, that comes Cox, high ball stream from Metter.
Cox's gonna drop a bounced pass the Hammon and one
as he converts on the reverse layup through the contact
and they'll get a chance for an old fashioned three.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
All of a sudden after it's two out of twelve
in that second quarter. The Calves have come back in one, two, three,
four and made their last five shots in a row,
led by Hammon and ligging with his attident as well.

Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Let's just open the four quarter. Does it bear the second.

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
That bucket there, let's see fifty ends and I puts
ham in up to twenty on the night, and he's
gonna get a free throw here for a three point play,
and he got it. So Andrew Hammond having an outstanding
evening coming off a big time performance against Green Kentucky
the other night. Hallan off the curl down inside the door,

(01:01:50):
he tries to go up, he gets Hamm and and
Hamm and gets a piece.

Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Of a shot.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
They're gonna call tie up and it should go back
to ChIL Coffee so at thirty eight thirty five, good
defensive f from Andrew Hammond and the Cavaliers will have
possession back.

Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
O WHI Chad's gonna try to do without Kayden Cox
for a while, bringing Hitchens in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Kitchens had it off top, he'll try a three. No,
good shot goes out of Bears. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
The coach Bear put up and he goes really Victor
hardly ever takes his shot.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
If you speak coach, you can tide to translate there
it turns the coach beards.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
It's not I'm sure Coach Beard doesn't mind. And there's
Davis on the other end.

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
While Davis pulls up tough shot, hits it in the
bed range and chilicopy by one thirty eight thirty seven
to eighteen to go.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
Third quarter, Hitchens has it up top, gives way to
stone King.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Stone King to the left hand, splits the double team,
and then Holland gonna reach in and they're gonna say
he got basketball, and they're tied up, and the possessionaire
is going to favor the Indian. Coach Beard will deeper
into his bench now with Carter Williams. Carter Williams will
check into the game to play some hitchens. Carter Williams

(01:03:10):
had am somewhat of a dunk there in the JV
game tonight, athletic young man playing out.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
M hasn't got a lot of varsity experience, but he
can score. He just has to be know.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
One of his shots there, Davis comes down, crosses it
over to the right hand mid range jumper. No good
fight for the loose wall going to go out of bound.
So again Carter Williams doing a nice job there are
forcing the tough two and Chili Tippee will get it
back one fifty eight third quarter Chilick Hope by one
thirty eight thirty seven. Now you look, You've got Carter Williams,

(01:03:42):
who's hardly ever played a varsity minute, and you've got
carte Liggan, the freshman who has played a lot, and
you've got the sophomore. Knowing that are there are three
or five players very inexperienced on the floor.

Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
The coach Beard's trying to get through the end of
this quarter. Keeps those guys from getting their fourth bound.

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Carte Leggan has it out top. He iss later Stone King,
He'll try a deep three from the right side. No
good fight for the loose ball. Netter takes it away
and it in noe Netter outstanding effort on the offensive
glass put back basket Good forty thirty seven, full of
Pathe that comes Holland comes off of ball screen now
guarded by Peter Williams.

Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
One twenty one to play. Third quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Hallan into the mid range, shot up from the elbow,
and I think they're gonna say.

Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
Foul on Williams.

Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
I thought he had pretty good position, but Allan's just
so crafty that he's able to draw a little contact
on the way up through. And not only it's gonna
be five, I think they're going to give him act
a shooting to Jack Howan working on a fourteen point
Night's going to go to the free throw line. Shot
up good forty thirty eight, Calves by two. One seventeen

(01:04:53):
to third quarter and Hollan will get a second free throw.
Sophomore guard second free throw too strong rebound Hammon of
chili coffee.

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Calves with the ball up too. I didn't see the
call away from the ball to you.

Speaker 4 (01:05:11):
Hammond bounced it under Carter Williams said, gone down the floor.
He came across the lane underneath the bucket, and they
said he was that he was out of bounds when
he caught the pass.

Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
Room Hambling, so obviously we couldn't see that. Farmard official
was right there.

Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Turn over back to Hillsbro. Then Indians with the basketball.
It's forty thirty two. Davis drives hard left base line,
shot up ham and got a piece of it. I
think out comes Hammling with a loose ball. I think
Netdar got the blocking in him and picked it up.
Stone came in the board, throws it away. Back comes
hills Bro forty thirty eight. Calves by two forty two

(01:05:48):
seconds to go. Allan looking him over at the bench
there gets instructions. I don't think they'll hold for one.
I think they'll go and play.

Speaker 15 (01:05:55):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Alan to the right side, back door one of Davis
and throws it into the cheerleader. It was there, just
didn't next feet the passing down.

Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Yeah, Oh, a little too much mustard on album from
Hallow Calves Dodge a little bit of a bull.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
I mean Cooper made the path. He was trying to
find Cartes on a long pass down the floor for
a layup and overthrew it. The Cavs just didn't need
to be in a hurry.

Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
But they get it back up A two forty thirty
eight up too. With the ball. Stone King has it
out top eighteen to shoot.

Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
He drives down the middle, No one cuts him off
and he just lays it in an easy two for
a stone King forty two thirty eight ChIL Coffee by four.

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Let's see if they can get a stop.

Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
As the clock goes eight to seven in County Davis
off the right hand ribble splits the double team up
over Nettler.

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
Nedder blocks the shop.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
They're going to say, with the body underneath the foul
and that's going to send Tate Davis to the free
throw line. So Davis, after being scoreless in the first half,
now has four points here in the third quarter, and
who would go to the free throw line with a
chance to add a few more.

Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
Nice?

Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
I thought it was a good block if the officials
ranked there and no officials think are tot saying So
you've got to keep your eyes sometimes down below you
can't watch the ball, and if there's contact from the
body below, it looks like a pretty good block from
Nollah Davis. The Ohio guard a year ago makes good
on both three, froze ham and jumps back his half

(01:07:23):
board shot.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
No good, and we've come to the end of the
third quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):

Welcome back to Hillsborough High School where Chilcoffee leads Hillsbrough
forty two to forty as we enter the fourth and
final quarter. It's been a big night for Andrew Hammond
because he has twenty one of ChIL Coffee's forty two,
so coming up with half of the Pavalier's offense here
this evening over on the hillsbro side, it's been a
pretty big night for Jack howen have him at fifteen

(01:09:00):
points to lead the Indians.

Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
The guys in foul trouble.

Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
Back in Cox, back in Bacher, back in the saying
you made a comment as the Calves have the basketball,
but the odd numbered quarters have been good to them.

Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
You know, there's an airball come.

Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Out the Stone King with the first possession takes a
three and this is everything goes out of bounds.

Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
Back the Hillsborough.

Speaker 4 (01:09:23):
The Calves eight of fourteen in the second quarter, two
of twelve. They come back and go seven of nine,
so just red hot first and third, and just that
first shot here in the fourth quarter, that's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Down to the wire.

Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
Captain on the drive of the right hand cut off
by the Liggan gives way to Davis.

Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
Now on the switch, Legan will guard Davis. Davis from
the right side.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Three to two strong rebound ham In at Chilicoppi Addroll,
bring it up across the timeline for the Calves looks
to play one on one Downhill kicks it out stone King.
The stone King gives way to Cox, who's return to Cox.
Stone King ligging Hammon and.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Badger to start the fourth if they can get it
inside the Hamm and he's guarded.

Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
All nice drive is that Cooper and Cooper.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Stone King hard on the drive, lays it in big
basket for Chillicothee. You're back up for at forty four
to forty Davis drives Middle tried to dump it off
to a cutting captain and they throw it away. So
ChIL Coffee with a great opportunity. Greg here just a
minute in the fourth quarter, but a chance to push
this back to Yeah, you have three or four possession
Captain who's probably five to nine guarding Hammon who's sixty three.

Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
Now he's being physical with him. But if Andrew can
get on the low post, give your real height advantage.

Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Mismatch Badger on the left side. He drives hard up
off the glass. No good, but they're going to give
him the file. That's a good, strong move, kept his
shoulder square, play.

Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
Through contact, and he's going to get to go to
the free throw line as a reward.

Speaker 4 (01:10:50):
They el swirrows shot seven foul shots tonight the Cavs four.
The Badger will get a chance for a couple here.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Cam playing through some foul troubled and I eight only
with two points gets to go to the free throw line.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
Here the chance to add to that shot up good.

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
So the Senior gives Chilikaffee a forty five forty advantage,
and he'll get one more second free pro in and
out no good dumper with the rebound of hillsbro So
forty five forty that comes hillsbro Davis left dribbled penetration

(01:11:31):
give away to captain mid range jumper.

Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
No good.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Badger up high for the rebound and he'll turn in
hand to cock. So clock ticks down the six twenty
left in the game. Kis by five with the basketball,
hand off the stone King. If you're just joining us,
we leave Cavaliers or without one Miller Here in the
second half, ball screen from ligging on the roll Cooper.

Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
Stone King tried to drop a bounce past. They throwed away.

Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Out comes Davis and Captain on the two on one.
Davis drops it off the Captain.

Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
And he lays it in in the five trade.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Captain cuts the lead to forty five, forty two, and
he's gonna get a chance to go to the free
throw line.

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
And I had one more.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Again, just turn over on the one end, giving hills
Brow the transition opportunity and Davis and Captain dynamic there
in the open court free.

Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Throw good.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
Calves by two with the basketball. Six minutes to play.
Cox up top, get a hand off the Badger. Badger
looks to play down Hill, gives way to stone King.

Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Now back to Cox.

Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
He'll play two million game with Hammond. Cox tries to
get to the middle. Now gives way to Badger. Badger.
Hard drive your right hand. He'll try a mid range jumper.
Good box out for dumper, but Ligan just out works him.
Carte Ligan gets it back, tries.

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
To get it up if he lose it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Out Comes Davis with a long skip pass to captain
and he lays it in outstanding look for Tate Davis,
and we're tied at forty five. Then we had a
whistle there at the thistle's time out. I'm not sure
what happened there there. I might have had a fan

(01:13:16):
say something there.

Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
And official turned it.

Speaker 8 (01:13:23):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
Then those one.

Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
So fishers take care of some situations there, saying forty
five forty five, five point thirty remaining in the ballgame,
it'll be chili coffee basketball. So Chilicoffie had opened up
a forty five forty advantage, but Hillsbrow answers with a
five zero run to tight here at forty five five
comes cos he's got it up top guarded by Davis

(01:13:52):
hand off badger, high entry into the elbow to and
Ham and turn around jumper no good ligging tries it
up for the rebound. The dumper of hills growth good
position back comes Davis. Davis all the way to the rim,
lay up too strong handled the rebound. Chilicothe as number
of stone king into the open cord. He spins shot
up off the glass. No good tip they're no good

(01:14:14):
Liggan one more time, and I think he was fouled
so til Cothe certainly can't doubt the effort, just couldn't finish.

Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
But that effort is going to reward him with a
trip to the free throw line for Carte ligging.

Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
God finally got the ball to him and he had
a height advantage, but it was so physical. Has turnaround
jumper from about ten feet. If the Cabs will win,
this is gonna be It'll be a tremendous grind out win.
They've got foul trouble and Miller's out with an injury.
They had to use several guys off the bench, had away.
Carte Carte with the nice touch, gets the roll. The

(01:14:51):
first free throw good Liggan with seven given coach beards
and nice hints here. Second free throw no good.

Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Camon tips it, Cox comes up with it and Caden
Cox lays it in great effort from Hammon and Cox
equals a Cavaliers score forty eight forty five chili coffee
on top that comes Davis. Davis to the elbow, gives
away to captain. Captain flies to the rim, hangs in
the air, and lays it in tray. Captain, a good
looking sophomore, scores to cut off the one forty eight

(01:15:23):
forty seven chili coffee, four point.

Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
Thirty to go in the game. That comes Cox.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Cox drives hard to the left hand, pull up jumper,
di elbow, good tough shots say no, no, no, no, yes.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
So there's that mid range you talk about where he
can really I think that's where he's most effective. Fifty
forty seven.

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
That comes halland to the deep thread of Jack Allen
fig time night shooting the basketball. Unofficially, that's his fifth
three and we're tied at fifty. It's been a good
one four minutes ago. Stay with us here because it's
going to be a nice finish here. Cox back on
the three ball from the right wing, too strong. Ligan
hustles for the offensive rebound, but out comes.

Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Captain with it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
Captain right side, Howland skips it across court to Davis.
Davis guarded by Cox. Davis to the left hand. Gribble
gets into the little shot up to contact. No call
out comes Ligging with the rebound. Ligan drops it off
the Badger. Badger shot up on the rim and we're
going to go the other way. Badger had pulled up

(01:16:28):
on the jump shot, but the officials want to say
that when he followed through that the defender was set,
they're going to call the offensive foul and that's that's
going to be a fourth file on him. So again,
bou trouble mounting three thirty three, just a short time out.

Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
Let's stay here to reset it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
Greg So three point thirty three tied at fifty Hillsborough Basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
Both teams just ad two team fouls.

Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
But Chilkoffee, I think you said it past really playing
through some adversity here in the.

Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
Side, No doubt, I ain't. They haven't gotten a whole
lot of BAK, but it's been it's been a rough.

Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
The officials have tried to let him play, so you
better have your armor on when you go inside for
a shot. But I think they've been consistent of that.
But you're right, guys, in foul trouble, I mean they've
had to use netter. They brought in Williams, who's a
JV player, to try to fill in Van Miller. We believe,
and I'll double check here they ensure that that hasn't
gotten to play in the second half. Yeah, they've had

(01:17:25):
to fight through adversity tonight, no doubt about it. But
right now they're still hanging in a fifty to fifty. Well,
we'll see down the stretch here on the road if
they can get a break or two.

Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
Certainly a tough call there on Badger. That's his fourth foul.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I thought he did a good job to avoid the
charge on the pull up jumper, but they said as
he shot a little bit of the float or that
he caught too much contact as a defender and take
it the other way. So fifty to fifty Hillsborough basketball
of the time out. Davis walks it across the timeline.
He goes left side to Holland. Allen's guarded by Cox
off a ball screen. Now it's captain up top. Davis

(01:18:02):
over on the right side, started by stone King off
a ball screen from Dumper comes to the right side.
I'm going to have a chilicotee foul. They set off
that ball screen. Defense had to hold. Thank you guy
stone King, just his second team third captain. The inbound

(01:18:25):
on the side out of bounds for Hillsborough cows it
up top. Dumper gives way to Howland high on the
left point. Cox knocks it out of his hand, Alan
gets it back. Now it's Davis, stone King and Cox
switch off to now Cox against Davis. Davis on the
dribble cross over the left hand, gives the way to

(01:18:47):
Captain hills broke bench, asking him to be patient. Davis
into the middle, kicks it right corner tunner, Hunter walks
it back up. Two forty five left in the game.
We're tied at fifty. Davis drops a bounce pass Captain
lay up no good badger of chilicoffee with the rebound
out the cops. Cox on the right side drops a

(01:19:12):
bounce pass inside and ham And had great position, was
going to score the basket, and they called the hold
on the post up, so no basket common foul just
Hillsborough's thirteen foul, so a two twenty nine to go
into game tight at fifty Chilicoffee. You'll get an opie
under opportunity to take the lead here. Stone King cuts

(01:19:34):
to the rim, gets it, puts it up and then
goes all the way in and.

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
Comes out out comes hills grow They push it ahead
the dumper Dumper spin move to the rim.

Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
Shot up on the glass and good Mason dumper fifty
two fifty Hills grow two fifteen left in the game.
Back comes chilicoffee given go from stone King, so ham
and back to stone King and he scores and a
quick time out there. That's a short one, so we
might as well stay here again.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
So back and forth we go.

Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
Greg fifty two fifty two, two oh six left in
the game, three team fouls each, and we're kind of
where we were a second ago, just about a minut
the two.

Speaker 4 (01:20:15):
Deepers of the game, right, Yeah, I gotta give the Caps,
and they've been in so many games like this. Yeah,
their last two league losses fifty four to fifty two,
and they're just battling their hearts out a lot of disadvantua.
But I'll tell you that that was a nice job there.
Hammond and stone King did a nice job. I thought
Carte has played extremely well tonight. He keeps getting better

(01:20:36):
and better because obviously a great athlete. So they battled
nice shot there by Cooper to tie it up. On
the other end, we just we don't have good matchups
so far, trying to hold down Davis. But all of
a sudden, Van Miller is our best defensive player, and
I asked if he was injured. I was told he
was not, so I'm not really sure, but it's a
tough matchup right now. You've got Cox trying to guard

(01:20:59):
Allan who is very quick, and Cooper stunt things got
the job of trying to guard Davis, so he almost
got two forwards trying to guard quick guards.

Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
Davis comes up, gives it right side to Highland. He'll
play ball screen with Hunter.

Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Now on the roll. Gives way to Hunter.

Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
Now it's out the captain one fifty in county Captain
into the middle, pull up jumper, no good rebound badger
of Chili cooffee. Gives way to stone King and he'll
take his time walking it across the timeline. One county
fifty two fifty two. Stone King picks up his dribble.
Now gives way to Ligan. Ligan drives hard to the

(01:21:35):
right hand, gets all the way to the rim and
lays it in carte. Liggan lays it in.

Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
He has nine. On the evening puts Chili cooffee back
in front fifty four to fifty two. By comes Davis
too strong.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
And on the they're going to count the basket, saying
that Chili coffee caught what the net or the rim.
They on the cylinder, So credit Tate davis us with
the basket. Fifty four fifty four one twenty one to
play stone King has it in the full or they

(01:22:09):
were going to time out.

Speaker 3 (01:22:10):
Chilicothe nobody is called goaltending. Hills the world got in
the rebound.

Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
I think they were going to score, but uh, they
called goaltending, and so the Cavs got the ball and
everybody went to the other end of the floor and
there was nobody to throw the ball into and Coach
Beard had to call time out.

Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
So fifty four fifty four one twenty one to go.
Just a short time out here. So that's why we'll
we'll stay here. And as I mentioned, three team fouls each.
So right now, you've got to be a real strong
off the dribble because you know both coaches are talking
about that, and go ahead and be aggressive on your
on ball defense because you're still just in the common
foul situation. If you're Chillicothee, you've had some success of

(01:22:51):
getting hamming down on the block, you've also had some
success on clearing out that side, and you've had a
couple of different people off the dribble get to the
rim You've seen stone King get to the rim. We've
seen Cartey ligging get to the rim. So let's see
if chilicothe can get some good floor spacing here and
see if someone can play downhill.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
Maybe create an easy one from them, sell for a teammate.

Speaker 4 (01:23:12):
Eighty but yeah, sixth minute, twenty one, eighty one seconds
left and tied fifty four.

Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
I'll be nice to get a bucket here. Chili Coffee
will have it on the full court. Hills Bro looks
like they're just going to pick up at half court,
so it'll be stone King bringing it across the timeline,
guarded by Howland. Comes off a high ball string from
Ham and goes right side the badger. Ligan dives into

(01:23:42):
the post, gives the Cox there at the elbow. Cox
gets downhill through contact, shot up. No good hamming with
the put back pasters. Do them get chilicothee credit Cox
playing through all kinds of contact. They just stayed with it,
and that basket puts Chilicoffee back up fifty six to
fifty four.

Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
Under a minute.

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
That comes Davis Davis into the little his left side.
Hunter has it back to Davis, and we're gonna have
a time out hills bro it's going to be a
full with Jil Coffee fifty six Hillsborough fifty four forty
eight seconds ago, we'll take a quick time out.

Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Stay with us.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
You'll listen to Chull Coffee Boys basketball on fourteen ninety WBS.

Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
Welcome back to Hillsborough High School, Shank Holmes, great big
im just been an absolute truth to bring you this
really good fac battle.

Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Jill Coffee leads hill Row fifty fifty four.

Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
Forty eight seconds remaining in the ball game, and as
they come out of the time out right here, let's
see I ChIL Coffee has one more stopping him.

Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
Drag well again. A tough some tough matchups, you'd go,
I get it. A lot of credit to right now
cad and Cox and Cooper stone King have drawn the
assignments of trying to guard these two good guards. Way
A nice job last time down by Cox and Hammon
to get that up, and Andrew got to put back.

Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
Here we go, Captain on the side, out and Holland
thought about a deep free now gives it back to captain.
He drives the middle, he kicks it over the right side,
back out and out's Davis.

Speaker 3 (01:25:34):
Forty seconds left in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Chilicoffee by two Davis off a high ball screen badger
helps on the heads.

Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
They wanted the back door from Holland. They throw it away.
Nice job by Kyd and Cox that forces a turnover.
And it's gonna be Chilli coffee basketball. They're gonna put
full court pressure now. Yeah, another time out, time out here.
Let's see which way they go with it here. I
think coach Beard wanted the time out. Full time out again,
full time out. Let's step away for thirty seconds again.

Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
You're listening to Chilicoffee boys basketball on fourteen ninety WBX.

Speaker 9 (01:26:10):

Speaker 11 (01:26:28):

you are start the conversation with your child about vaping today.

Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
I don't see Miller on the vent. Welcome back to
Hillsborough High School.

Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Thirty two point eight on the clock, Jil Coffee by
two fifty six fifty four with the ball following the turnover,
Chilcoffee'll be on the spot, going to full length of
the floor to look for Hillsborough the pressure and Greg
the other thing only threeteen files for hills versus Chili
COOTHI is going to have to be strong with the
ball and play through some contact. Here.

Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
Looks like Hammon will inbound the ball. Cocks and Stone.

Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
King up on the press breaker trying to get it
in bound. Bager comes sprinting down the side and gets
it he's there trapped, reverses the stone King. Stone King
gotta get it across here, splits the double team and
does it, and he's going to draw the foul.

Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
So twenty three point nine just the fourth team foul.
So from this point.

Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
Forward, Chilikathie will shoot two on every hillsbro file. They'll
have it out of bounds right around half court. Hammon
will be the trigger man. Chili Coathi with a stack. Look,
stone King sprints the ball, can't get it in now.
Ligan uses his athleticism and they give it right back
to him. And but before they could, Carte Liggan was filed.

(01:27:50):
So twenty two point one Chili Coffee by two, and
Carte Ligan will go to the line where he's looking
to go into double figures. Here, if you can knock
down this first one, more importantly, give us his team
a three point advanta.

Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
First free throw. All right, got a nice job Carte
ten for ligging.

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
If he could make it eleven, it would give a
Chili Coffee at two possession lead. Shot up, no good,
Cayden Cox up high for the loose ball. Shot back
up on the rim, no good. Fight for the loose ball,
and it's going to go back the other way to.

Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
Hillsbro didn't didn't need the shot. Cox had the rebound.
He was going to try to put it in, but
we really didn't. You know, in a hindsight, you got
the rebound inside. But he got it up and then
hamm And tried to tip it in and said it
went off Andrews. So Hillsborough will have it time out
on the floor. Let's stay here to reset this. It's
fifty seven fifty four Chili coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
There's seventeen point six to go, and now it's ChIL
a coffee who has the file to give Greg again
coming off the dribbles, certainly don't want to file the shooter,
but you know, coming up in the dribble situation on
all ball, screams and so forth, you could be extremely
physical because again that fourteenth I will not purch you
here in terms of sending Hillsborg of the line. But

(01:29:15):
I've always heard coaches say that's really hard to execute
if it's something you haven't trapped.

Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
Yeah, and I you know, I Hallum's been the guy,
the coach's son.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
He's been the guy with all the threes tonight, Davis,
I think maybe has one, but uh, you know, that's
who they got to be looking for.

Speaker 3 (01:29:31):
They're gonna be looking for Holland to get a three.

Speaker 4 (01:29:33):
We've got to stay up on him, and I'd almost
rather see his folly if we can get down seven
or eight seconds, I'd almost rather see his foulon and
let him take a three.

Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
That's a good point. You know, that's hard. It's hard
to do. It's hard to what do you what do
you like there? Down under six seconds? Seventh?

Speaker 4 (01:29:51):
I think it goes that long. But you know they're
gonna I think, uh, they're gonna let Davis handle it. Uh,
you know, maybe he looks to try to get to
the buckets still seventeen seconds. If not, if you double team,
he's gonna kick it. I would assume kick it to
Holend's the guy you want. We got Cox on Holland
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
Seventeen seconds, here comes Davis across the timeline. He goes
hard to the right hand all the way to the rim,
and stone King does.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Give the foul.

Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
I don't know that he did it on purpose, but
it ends up being kind of a somewhat of a
smart pile there. Yes, it was eleven point nine now
Hillsborough will have it underneath box set for Hillsbro Holland's
coming out.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
They throw it out.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
Holland's gonna dial up a three. I think Cox got
a piece of it, and I don't think this teammate
knows it. Yep, Chili Cothy let it go. Cox ended
up getting a piece of the three pointer. So it's
gonna be Hillsborough basketball underneath. Now it's eight point six
seconds remaining. Hillsbro obi under now from the other side.

(01:30:49):
Now back out the Holland, Holland back to Davis and
I think he turned it over. Chilli Cothy's going to
get it back. I think he stepped on the sideline
as the fast was a little wide. So Chili Coffee
up three with the ball. You'd like to get the
ball to Hammon. He's your best foul shooter. If we
can here five point six trying to get it in bound.
Hammon comes to it and Coach Berd is going to

(01:31:12):
use the time out. It's going to be a full
time out. We'll step away for a thirty second break.

Welcome back.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
It's been an outstanding one and one that we hope
can end it to Chilicoffee win. If they can execute
here for five point six seconds since they lead at
fifty seven to fifty four, they're gonna have a kind
of a weird side out of bounds deep going full
length to.

Speaker 3 (01:32:10):
The floor here. And we got to be able to
get it in.

Speaker 2 (01:32:11):
And you know, we talked the possession era that ended
up remember beating the Chili Coffee Cavaliers in that Miami
Trace game the other night. I want to cost some possession,
So you not only got to be strong on the catch,
you've also got to avoid to tie up because it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:24):
Any jump ball situation with favor Hillsbrough. Okay, was gonna
bring all four guys.

Speaker 4 (01:32:29):
Now they had the ball into Hammond, but I know
it was Coach Beard was concerned. You called the time out.
Now Hammond's gonna take it out.

Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
Ham in the end bounder gonna look to throw it deep.

Speaker 2 (01:32:40):
The Badger, Badger with a great catch, and he's gonna
go and dribble it out, throws it up in the air.

Speaker 10 (01:32:45):
And.

Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
Well that's gonna do it. Time expires and the Chilicoffee
Cavaliers have won it. Fifty seven fifty four.

Speaker 4 (01:32:56):
Dam Badger almost pulled to he fow it up and
their thinking to it. But Hillsboro actually got a hand
on it.

Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
But they my goodness, why win all time possession? So hey,
we'll take it anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
They come and out standing at the fac road win
for Chill Coffee as they went.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):

Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
Welcome back to postgame action on a winning night for
the Chilicothee Cavaliers, is they survive a charge there from
hillsbro and Chilicoffee wins it fifty seven fifty four looking
back throughout the evening, Chill Coffee dominated the first quarter
and they led nineteen to nine after eight minutes of play.
Back comes Hillsborough in the second quarter. They kind of

(01:36:50):
take it to Chilcoffee a little bit. They score the
first thirteen points of that second quarter to take a
twenty two to nineteen lead, and then hills Brow would
take a twenty four twenty three lead into the locker room.
Third quarter was another outstanding offensive effort from Chili Coffee.
They jump out and they let it forty two to

(01:37:11):
forty after the third quarter, and they go on to
win it fifty seven to fifty four. It was a
back and forth game down the stretch. Give give Chilli
Coffee a lot of credit on the defensive end, Give
give their bench a lot of credit, Give guys a
lot of credit just for the overall effort, and they
come away with a big fac win to reprove to
six and eight overall, three and three inside fac play and.

Speaker 3 (01:37:37):
Greg, I know you're still finishing up your total. I
got it. You're good to go, but you take us,
take us through the numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
They are a little bit just just a really interesting
game to call it and I think the numbers will
kind of illustrate that, and I we might not get
a chance to talk to Coach Beer because I know
they got a long trip.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
It's a school night and we always try to allow
for that.

Speaker 4 (01:37:53):
But uh, I think he could be as proud tonight
of this suffered by by Chilli Coffee. They just had
to grind it out with a lot of effort. Looking
at the numbers for Hillsborough, I had them with ten turnovers,
Chillicothy with twelve turnovers, so that was pretty even. Hillsborough
on the night had them twenty of forty nine unofficially

(01:38:14):
for forty one percent. They were seven of fifteen from
the three point line, so they were just under fifty percent.
Shot to three very well tonight, but five of eight
for Hillsborough from the free throw line. Fort Chillicothy again,
I had them with twelve turnovers. They wind up the
night they first quarter, in the third quarter, they shot
sixty percent the first quarter over seventy percent a third quarter,

(01:38:36):
barely made a basket in the second quarter, but I
thought they were tough in the final quarter. Total on
the night twenty four of fifty three forty five percent,
three to twelve from the three point line. Almost those threes,
I think all came in the first half. We didn't
take a lot of threes a second half. I give
them credit twenty five percent. And then I had them
six out of ten from the foul line, so we

(01:38:56):
gained a point. Six free throws for us, five for
them from the retho line. We'll get outscored by four
to three. They had four more threes than Chila Coffee did,
but Hillsboro I had them with only thirteen to two
pointers and meanwhile we had twenty one to two pointers. So, man,
what a what an effort tonight. And as coach Beer

(01:39:18):
it's coming over. Let's get a couple of words from him.
But a tremendous game tonight for the Cavaliers and Shanon
if you've got a chance to do the final scoring,
and alright, i'll hand this to Pat here.

Speaker 3 (01:39:32):
We'll get to the scoring in a second.

Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
Certainly want to take advantage of having ChIL Coffee head
coach Pat Beard coming. First of all, Coach, congratulations, what
an outstanding effort tonight. And you know we were talking
on the air. There's so many guys to highlight, but
I want to go into that third quarter and highlight
a key defensive stop from Carter Williams, a big time
bucket from Noah Netter. I know, maybe maybe down a

(01:39:57):
little bit in terms of depth, and you needed them,
and man, they really up and provided you a little
spark there.

Speaker 15 (01:40:02):
They more soly did you know, I had to make
a substitution change due to something I didn't like what
I heard. So then some of the younger guys got
an opportunity to come in and and I knew they
were nervous, but they give us great minutes off the bench,
executed offense as well. Just something you know they can
build upon. I've been telling them all year. We're the

(01:40:24):
second half of the season, so don't be surprised by
sticking in there a few minutes here or there, just
to get your feet wet.

Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
So I think they did a tremendous job for us
when they're in there tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
You know, coach Andrew Hammond comes to mind here with
you play such a versatile lineup that oftentimes you know
Andrew and and Cam they they're giving up some size
on the one end, but then on the other end,
what happens.

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
It's the reverse effect.

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Andrew's really becoming a tough matchup for your opponents. And
he's had back to back huge nights to show for.

Speaker 5 (01:40:51):
Yes, he's finally getting it going.

Speaker 15 (01:40:53):
We know he could shoot the three ball, but what
he does as far as rebounding, he's always in the
right place at the right time, finishes very well around
the rim. You talked about their versatility. Yes, we might
give up some size on the defensive end, but offensively,
if you notice, you know, Cam Badger and Andrew Hammond
are always around that bucket that rim, trying to give

(01:41:14):
us second sands opportunities. And I think Andrew had twenty
points a night. The second night he's had a big nine.
I think he's starting to get things going. So now
we just need what I wish we could have. I
wish we could have Coop, and Andrew and Caden Cox
all three going at the same time.

Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
Then that might be something special.

Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
You know the guy that I'm liking is Carte Liggan.
He has come he's an athlete. Yeah, I think he's
I'm not an expverbt to me, He's probably gonna be
a Division one football player. Let's face he's that kind
of athlete. But he basketball knowledge wise and fitting in.
He has come so far, he's gained confidence. He took

(01:41:52):
the ball, he got a big rebound for you couldn't
score in the second quarter, He gets the rebound, took
the ball to the buck in the second quarter, and
he made a big foul shot down the stretch. It's
tough on a freshman and he wasn't able to But
I thought he had a great game. And you know, likewise,
I thought guys that played very well, uh And I
kept saying that down that fourth quarter Cooper and and

(01:42:14):
Cayden had to guard their two guard knows that's not
an easy Simon Holland and Davis can play. And I
thought those guys gave you such a defensive effort tonight
trying to guard those two guys who did the ground.

Speaker 15 (01:42:25):
They most certainly did, and I kind of I think
it really affected the offensive end a little bit for him.

Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Sure did shot for coming up short because Legs retired.

Speaker 15 (01:42:32):
But that's the beauty of it when when you have
two guards who can guard like that or longer, and
then you still have some guys behind him that can
go in and make sure we got the correct scoring
and be able to do things correctly.

Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
That's what really makes a special Carte. He's a different breed.

Speaker 15 (01:42:48):
I mean, he brings the type of energy to the
basketball floor that I don't think we've seen here in
a long time. Yes, he's still learning on the ball. Defense,
is very good off the ball defense. Was still working
on that. But when he attacked exact glass offensively, you
know he's attacking that glass.

Speaker 5 (01:43:02):
I can jump, picking jump, we can get off the
flour and usually when he's.

Speaker 15 (01:43:06):
Down there he finishes. Been working really Harlan's free throws.
I believe it's four for four down down the stretch
and free throws which helped still the game. So I'm
very proud of that young man. He's really been putting
in the work and I'm looking forward to see what
he does here in the future.

Speaker 4 (01:43:19):
That My final comment is, I don't It's hard to
think back, but I don't give them back the whole season,
maybe even the last year. That might be, in my opinion,
one of the best team wins where so many people
contributed you've had in a while.

Speaker 5 (01:43:31):
Yes, we went in a halftime and that was the
first thing I highlighted.

Speaker 15 (01:43:35):
We're up nineteen and nine because we were moving the
basketball and we didn't care who was shooting. And it's
that dreaded second quarter. I mean, you can look at
it all year long, the second quarter. We don't score
much in the second quarter. It's because guys think it's
their turn to go score and we're not built like that.
We're built as a team to keep moving the basketball,
make the extra pass.

Speaker 5 (01:43:54):
Get a better shot. And I thought we did that
better than the third and fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Well, coach, one final comment for me would would be
maybe a two part question. I thought your situational basketball
was really good down the stretch where it's cost fuble
to hear in weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
That shows a lot of growth. How can that really
help you as you come into another tough, tough weekend.

Speaker 15 (01:44:11):
Well, I think it's really going to help us a
lot because I keep preaching to these guys learn how
to win. And we were down at some point in
the fourth quarter, we battled back, we found a way
to win. So I believe that's going to give us
some confidence. And we keep talking about stacking wins. You know,
this is the first back to back win we've had
all year. Yep, so guys are excited. I told him
We got a great opportunity on Friday, playing a really

(01:44:33):
good at Washington Courthouse. Another opportunity at home to get
another win, to stack another win and continue to find
ways to win going into the tournament time.

Speaker 5 (01:44:42):
So I'm proud of our guys.

Speaker 15 (01:44:43):
We're going to keep working and the hopefully the confidence
continues to grow. We can do something special down the
stretch way.

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
I think a lot of the scheduling, rescheduling things you
played through a lot of adversity. I know you're a
no excuse guy, and I appreciate that big, big time win.
Congratulations and look forward to calling you again this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:44:58):
I appreciate its.

Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
Thank you, good win, coach, good job, be safe going home.

Speaker 5 (01:45:05):
Yes, you guys too.

Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
Again, that's coach Beard chilicoffee his cats fifty seven to
fifty four. Before we get out of here. I never
did give the scoring on the Chilicoffee side. Twenty three
for Andrew Hammond, ten for Caden Cox, ten for car
Kate Ligging, nine for Cooper stone King, three for Cam Badger,
two for Noah Netter. And again we highlighted the minutes

(01:45:27):
from Carter Williams there as well, So Greg, a lot
of fun. Look forward to doing it again this weekend.
I'll give you one final comed anything else.

Speaker 4 (01:45:35):
That was a great, great view fans that listened to him, Chilicoffee,
what a great effort, A little short handed tonight and.

Speaker 3 (01:45:42):
A big just a team win. There's so many people
contributed tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
Well, thank you Nathan back studio, Thank you Greg. This
is Shane Comb's final score for the final time. It's
a winning night for the Chilicoffee Cavaliers. Fifty seven fifty four.
