Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for Chilicothee High School basketball action on the
Home of the Calves fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, aDNA Health System and Holler Funeral Home.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good good evening, everyone, and welcome inside Chilicothee High School
with Senior Night for the Cavaliers and they welcome the
Tigers of McClane. The Shane turns alongside Drake Bigham and
the Calves that continue.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
To wear the light uniforms and stay here at home
where they've had some success. Certainly a heartbreaker the other night,
and Greg, as you take a look back at the
one with central crossing there Chilicoffee lad seemed like the
entire game and then you know, the comments closed the
gap laid and ended up getting it into overtime and
beating the Cavaliers. So instead of nine and nine, Calves
(00:48):
coming at eight and ten, probably filling a little bit
down like they let one get away, but certainly an
opportunity in the fac play where they sit at four
and three out like third place right now. They just
got to turn the page and get going in here
again tonight. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
If I'm Pat Bierra, I'm talking about the fac and say, guys,
we're over five hundred, one of the top part of
the league. We play these guys twice in the next
what eight days? Uh, and we get that and we
get a chance. Maybe Jackson only beat us by two,
we'll go down there and uh, you know what a
record that would be to finish seven and three in
the FA. So I think I would focus on the
(01:23):
FAC try to get to that bad taste out of
your mouth. The other night when a game that Central
Crossing kind of controlled the tempo, they made it a
game at the end, got it into overtime and was
able to win it. But uh, well, we'll see tonight.
I think maybe an advantage tonight, a little bit of quickness.
Uh and uh, I'll we'll see if tonight if we
can get the ball to the bucket and also do
(01:45):
the job on.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
The boards tonight, Well, no question. And looking at some
programming notes. Tuesday night, Logan elm comes calling here and
then next Friday Saturday, Joel Coffee. We'll finish out FAC
play with trips at Jackson on Friday night and then
they'll see the same McClain tigers on the road in
Greenfield next Saturday night. Now, that's a makeup game. We're
going to try to get some clarification on if we're
(02:06):
gonna be able to travel over and do that game.
But keep in mind, with all these games in such
a short amount of time, if you've missed any you
can always go back there on the website and as
well as the Spreaker page, and you can listen back
to the podcast, And keep in mind, at the end
of most of those games, Craig and I get a
chance to talk to coach Bear. So let's take a
(02:26):
closer look at this McClain team. Obviously, in the league play,
it hasn't gone real well for him at oh and seven,
but to their credit overall at eight and nine, you know,
they come in here, I'm sure looking at an opportunity
to try to even their record at nine and nine.
It's a team that mixes some old and some young.
Now it looks like they will be down a key
starter tonight with sickness, but certainly one for the Cavaliers
(02:49):
that they can't overlook. These These league games are always tough.
You know each other so well. I'm anxious to see
how the Cavaliers bounce back. And it's almost more I'll
chili Kathie is playing givest chili coaffee than any opponent
that walks in here at night. Lifepanions McClay.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
I saw them real early in the season, actually in
a foundation game that doesn't count on your record. They
came into Super Bowl. They're scrappy. They always are. Jared
Haynes has taken over as their head of the head
basketball coach. I think he might have been with the
boys years and years ago, but he was a longtime
coach of the girls program, and their girls of McLean
played tough, competitive basketball. He's now I think this is
(03:28):
his first or second year back with the boys program,
but he'll have him playing hard and so you you
can't walk out against you know, you look at that
and seven leg record, but they've been in a lot
of games tough, not It's not like they've been losing
by you know, twenty points or whatever. So you're still
gonna have to work, do a good job, play good
defense against this ball club because there's I think there
(03:51):
are going to be a scrappy, get in your face
up in your defensive team.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
No question about it. No known coach chains for a
long time. You're right over at Day Decade and the
girls programs some outstanding teams. And you know when we
talk though in seven in the fac and fairness to them,
I don't think it's a shame to any team in
the Southeast District. If you have two losses to Miami Trace,
two losses to Jackson, those are two outstanding basketball team.
Miami Trace enters tonight play at seventeen and zero overall,
(04:18):
still unbeaten, so certainly certainly a challenge. Let's take a
look at a closer look at the Chilipopty Cavaliers. I
feel like they've started to get some pretty good balance.
I like some of their offensive rhythm in spots. If
I was going to pick out one thing that continues
to catch up with them, it's some situational basketball. They've
played some really close games. You look at their differential
(04:40):
plus two. They score fifty three at night, they give
up fifty one. This is a team that I think
they have the one or two blowout wins. They really
have not been blown out of the gym by an opponent.
So they've played a lot of close games. And when
you do that, the way you end quarters and then
obviously the way you end games becomes really really in
(05:01):
Do you follow me on what I'm saying. They're great,
It just seems like situations you hit the nail right
on the head.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
And I think that's a good definition, and if you
people follow basketball understand it.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
It is late in game, second, maybe fourth quarter, sometimes
final three minutes, sometimes final minute, but situational basketball has
hurt him, and you know, it's something you got to learn,
you know.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Coach Bier talked about earlier in the week.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
He called it growth, and I think it they have
had some growth that they've had better recognition.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I thought a great part of that was the other
night when they had the ball and I know, maybe
a two point lead, and they ran like what maybe
forty seconds off the clock. They were careful about not
taking a shot they didn't need, and then all of
a sudden they saw a guy open and coach are
gonna say, hey, we'll take the layup. They thought they
had the layup, they threw it away. They turned it over,
so they did the right thing and it was a
(05:55):
late mistake, but you know, it gets blown up when
it's a tie game or two point game. But I
think you hit the nail Ryan ahead situations. You know,
Cooper's played. He's a junior, but he started for three years,
so I don't think coach Berdoll blame it on a
young team. Cayden Cox is only a sophomore, but he
started for two years. Same way with Andrew Hammond didn't
(06:16):
start last year, but played a lot as a freshman sophomore.
Van Miller's a senior, so but I think they haven't
maybe in those past years, been in the final minute
where they's tied her up to maybe they've been down eight,
they've been down ten, So I we'll give it to him.
It's still a learning situation. But I think you're right
spot on that situations.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
It is what it is.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
But I'm with you they're eight and ten that they
could easily reverse that to set of eight. I could
have won eleven games, but you know what it could,
it should have, but I think it's been that close
for him this year, and very interesting statue had on
that point differentially.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, and when I say that, you know to to
kind of build off of that. That's not an all
negative type of thing. Obviously, you want to you want
to win games later or whatever. But I think you
touched on some things there. I see that as a
huge positive step in the right direction, because, as you said,
last year, a lot of times you know you're losing
those games by eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve points. This
(07:12):
year you're in those games. Obviously, they've won some of
those games too, they have eight wins on the year,
but it's just there's been four or five times where
the inability and again the opponent has a lot to
do with that. When you think of a central crossing,
you think of a warn, you think of a new
lexus than some of those things. So it should be
an exciting one tonight. McLean and Chili Cofee coming up
(07:33):
on about four and a half minutes ago in the
pre game, Shane Holmbs and Great Big and we'll step
aside for a time out and we'll come back and
take a look tonight starting lineups. You're listening to Chili
Cooffee Boys Basketball on fourteen nineties at UVA.
Speaker 5 (07:46):

We average probably twelve thirteen fourteen coaches a week, always
exciting to talk about our local kids and our local programs.
So appreciate the opportunity to get that. Well, Greg, if
(09:28):
we take a look at the night's starting lineups, I
know you were saying some of these kids you recognized
from last year on the McClain side. Number one, Zane
Adams as a senior. Number four a junior guard. Jordan Bell.
Number twelve is a six to two senior Owen Sykes
Hudson Love It is a six foot freshman that's been
starting pretty much all year from co Chains. As I
(09:49):
talked to CoA Chains here before the game this evening,
high on that young on that young freshman. And then
they are without Riley Cummins tonight their normal starter, he's
sick and unable make the trip, so they'll turn to
number twenty four, a six to one senior Brandon Green
So again for co chains Adams, Fell Sykes love it
(10:09):
and Green over on the chilicopy side. Coach Beard will
keep the line up the same as normal. One Miller
the five ten senior point guard. He's joined in the
backcourt by sophomore Caden Cox at six ' three, as
well as six to two junior Cooper stone King at
the forward position, six four sophomore Andrew Hammond and six
(10:30):
three senior Cam Badger. Again one more time for Coach Beard.
That's Miller, Cox, stone King, Hammon and Badger and Greg
one matchup to really take a look. Jordan Bell, a
young man from the Clinton really really shoot the basketball.
I know Coach Beard was aware of that. I expected
to see one Miller on him, and that'll be kind
of a key early. The Calves have been hurt by
the three point line on the defensive end a little bit.
Speaker 8 (10:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
I was watching him in warmups out at the top
of the key and I think he must have made
nine out of ten. Got a beautiful stroke, not real big,
but a nice stroke. For the McLain Tigers. Good luck, gentlemen.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Absolutely well, we're coming up on the one minute, the

Please welcome back to Chilicopi High School. Shane Holmes, Drake
Bigham coming up here on the player introduction and Greg
Senior night here that was a senior cheerleader. Now, Jabelle Hartley,
I believe I'm saying that name right, that was outstanding.
Just does a terrific job there in front of a
pretty packed house tonight. I know it takes a lot
of courage, but I thought that was outstanding a.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Lot of courage, and she does agree. She's done that
three or four times that we've been here this year
and does a wonderful job and kind of I propose
that she's a Senior and Senior night. She's saying the
national anthem.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
It's also it must be costume night for the student today. Yeah,
so we've got a baseball uniform over there, and then
soccer and then.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
We've got some spider Man.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
This spider Man and Cowboy.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
You know, they do a nice job with the students.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
They really have it and it doesn't matter Monday night,
Wednesday night by night there they packed the place and
a good atmosphere and the plane has been introduced and
now the lights will go out and students obviously to
their feet and then they'll they'll go through the chilipop
and starting lineup. We do have one correction on the
(15:57):
senior night, Andrew Hammond will not start. The have aliers.
Dick Hitchens will get to start as a senior. Knight's
moved over by coach Beard get the senior in the
starting lineup. So that'll be the Miller, Kitchens, Cox, Stone,
King and Badger. So here on senior nights, uh one Miller,
(16:20):
it's Dick Hitchens and Cam Badger getting a chance to
start together. Chili Chippee as always in their home Whites
with the blue lettering The Curse of Chilikipee right above
the number McLean in the road purple with the gold numeral,
the white trim and a little Dean Cox versus Sykes
(16:46):
jumping center to get us going. Here, we're sitting courtside
on the thomasin cup at court where we always do.
So we'll be calling the first half action with Chilikypee
moving our left to right with the Tigers coming back
right to left. There we go ball up and Cox
is up the window tiph as he backtps to von
Miller and the senior point guard signals to play in
(17:07):
one underway here on this Friday night FAC action hand off,
the Hitchens goes left point to stone King. Stoneking gives
way to Cox. Cox back up top. Hitchens will try
a top of the key three. No good rebound by
the Tigers. They'll look the puss with Bell Bell guarded
by Miller. As we said in the pre game, there
(17:28):
Jordan Bell, one of the top shooters in the FAC.
They go left side three ball there by Green misses everything,
but the Tigers get a second chance with an offensive rebound.
Now it's a right side three by Adams. I think
Cox might have got a piece of that CHILICOFFI had
to rebound, but they lose it and bringing it out
(17:49):
back come to tigers. Green up shot, no good rebound
by Cox and now he'll try to slow things down
a little bit. One minute in no scores. Cox comes
across the timeline right side the hitchins it's up top
badgerant badger wanted stone King on the back door, taken
away by Bell. Now Miller up top moves it right
(18:11):
side stone King. He'll penetrate with the left hand dribble.
He throws it away, but I think the Tigers are
able to secure it. They're going to touch it last. Well,
I know they're going to say it went off a
cavalier and they're going to give the ball to my flame.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Well, it's two turnative caws missed three and then a
couple of turnovers in the early going. Fortunately for them,
McLain not able to put one in you.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Green brings the dribble into the Scrimmagery gives the sights.
Now it's left side. Atoms will try a three no
good good box out from stone King. Cox leaks out.
He's into the open. Cortner two hands slams. I'll certainly
get the students up and act up. Cayden Cox gets
a started with a little open port show time two
nothing to a topic.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Nice past by Cooper.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Adams with the little dribble entry. Now give way to
Sikes and all reset Bell on the right side. He
can really shoot it. Misses that when Stone came with
another good box out and he gets another defensive rebound.
Might sell by Cooper pushes the head to Hitchins. A
little inside out dribble gets all the way to the rim.
Tried to baseline. Kick it to the opposite corner. Taken
away by Green of McClane. Brandon Green brings it up there,
(19:19):
picked up by one Miller. Now left hand penetration picks
the dribble up, comes back up top atoms got atoms
match up is with Cox. He used the high ball
screen goes left side to Green. Green wanted love it
up top taken away by Hitchins. Now Green on the
penetration takes the extra step and it's called for traveling.
(19:40):
Nice job by one Miller on the on ball pressure.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Now that's the guy normally doesn't start for them with
comings being sick. So that's the first turnover. You know
they've taken five shots for him have been threes. Unfortunately
for the Cavaliers, We've got three turnovers in the ear league.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
One tune up in Chili Coffee five twenty three, first quarter.
Cox gives over to Hitchins on the left wing. He
asks for a ball screen from Badger. Now Badger pops
and he'll have it on the left wing. He'll look
to go one on one, try to split the double
team and take it away by items. Two on one
for the Tigers. Green into the open court, shot up
and good Brandon the Green takes the lid off the basket.
(20:20):
There for McLean ties it at too Von Miller left
hand penetration to the middle. Hitchens in the left corner
tries at three and misses. Everything out comes Bell and McLean.
Bell will pushed a little bit behind the back, dribble,
thought about the three. Now splits the double team, a
little bit of a runner. Hitchens comes out of the rebound,
(20:40):
gives way to Cox on the left side. Now Cox
will retreat, dribble and set up in the half court.
Still Chuck tied it too, Stone king penetrate back out
the Cox Badger wanting to post up in the middle.
There Now Stone King has it on the left side.
He gets all the way to the middle, chicks it
right side Miller. Miller, two right hand dribbles, pull up
(21:01):
jumper in the short corner. No good. Love it at
McClean with the rebound. Four minutes into this one tied
at two. Shane colembs, Greg bighamslig you're with us Dell
getting all kinds of ball pressure against Vaughan Miller, and
he's gonna get called for the offensive file one. Miller
just an outstanding on ball to defensive efforts. She drawls
(21:22):
the push off there, I'm gonna turn it back over
the paves as Andrew Hammond checks in for hitching, then
bound at the Miller in the back court. Coach Beard
calls a play from the from the bench here gives
way to Hammon on the right point. I'm gonna play
(21:43):
two man game with badger now Stone King has it
over on the left side. He'll go hard with the
right hand cut off there, tries to get him and
on the on the cut just kind of a slippy pass.
There's gonna go out of bounds and turn it back
over to the plane.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
How many turnovers five five turnovers in in just over
four minutes of play, So I don't know that it
has a whole lot to do with the other night
and that tough loss they had. But they are not
off to a great start again. They started vic kitchens
and normally didn't start and got Hamming in there finally,
But Calves have been real sloppy with the basketball.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Little leave action up top for the Tigers. Now Green
has it reverse pivot, pull up, mid range jump or
no good hamming with the rebound. Fidge will push it
up the right point, he'll pull up for a three,
no good ham and fighting for the offensive rebound. And
I think Hammon touched it last good effort on the
offensive line. Well no, they're going to say when Hammond
(22:36):
touched it, it went off of a McClean fingertip. So
the Calves will get an ob under opportunity. Coach Beiard
just yelled out what are we doing? And rightly so
there's a nice look as Cox touched to the rim.
He gets it on the out of bounds play and
lays it in Cayden. Cox has all four chili coffee points.
If the Calves lead at four to two, left sided
(22:57):
spell ball screen there from one Miller fights through it now.
Sykes has it on the left wing, give way to Adams.
Adams off another Sych screens pull up jumper, no good
Stone King with another defensive rebound. He pushes it all
the way up the side. Cox has it. Cox left
hand drives hard to the on the baseline and gets
(23:19):
it to the rim and scores. Love to see cat
and Cox in that aggressive mindset getting all the way
to the rim. Six points right. Yep, Green will bring
it up for the tigers left side, Bell all the
way back up top. It's Sykes over on the right side.
(23:40):
That's drink or love it, love it, try to pull
up blocked by badger. Out comes Badger with it in
the transition hits Cox over on the left side. Three
ball knops it down. Cayden Cox off to it out,
flaming start. He has all nine Tillikockie points time out. Greensvild.
It's a short one. We'll stay here and you know great.
(24:00):
We see a little bit of caten boxes and tiger
arsenal there two hand dunk in the open court. A
couple drives to the hole and then he knocks down
the deeper. Absolutely, uh have thrown stuff out of here
I go. He made me nervous, but yeah he has.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
He's taking it to the whole uh baseline, heavy traffic,
hit a three, Yeah, the complete arsenal and uh he
you know, that's the best matchup so far otherwise. And
I heard coach Biard yelled out, what are we doing?
I think he's just unhappy that the first guy down
tried to go one on four or took a wild
three and he was wanted to get a little bit
of rhythm and Kate and I think has helped him
(24:39):
getting in a little bit of that rhythm out.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Of the time out there. The Tigers go to the bench.
That's Julian Evans five seven junior into the lineup and
he'll be at the point guard position. He'll bring it
up to enter to the elbow. There, let's love it
and now the pitch to Bell one. Miller bled right
to the shark to Bell behind to by get his
(25:03):
way to green green high ball screen from love it,
Stone King fights through it, good ball. Pressure from the
caives here Bell try and left winging three no good,
love it up on the offensive glass and put back
no good. But the foul and ChIL coffee had been
pretty good in the one and done so far in
the defensive glass that time I love it gets there
(25:23):
and gets an extra chance cuts in. Love it a
six foot freshman. I know, Coach Chains, as I said
in the pre game, Greg really high on this young man.
First free throw is good. Love It'll get another one
(25:44):
that cuts to Chilikofee lead to nine to three. I
was thinking of about time for a Carte second free
throw good And just as you say, that car table
living through the scores table going to replace Bager, I believe.
Looks like Greenfield's gonna at least show zone on the
(26:04):
way up here. Looks like some sort of a three
two one two two type book. They'll put Hudson love
it right there at the top left corner Green Andrew Hammond.
That's a way to get him out of the zone
in a hurry. Andrew Hammond knocks it down.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
That's his favorite spot, that deep left corner. He didn't hesitate.
They all comes back off the side from here. Can
we go Cox in.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
The upper court one more time? How tiny rocks it back?
It puts a little bit more on it. Another junk
for Cayden Cox and the Chili Coffee League. Goes to ten.
At fourteen to four, Green up top against Stone team.
Now right hand ribble back out, that's love it right side,
(26:51):
it's Evans. They get the cut down low shot up
in good by Sykes Owen. Sykes was able to lose
cart Te ligging on the on the little shuffle cut,
get it and score, and they lose Hammon in transition,
and I slipped from one miller and Andrew Hammond running
the court lays it in sixteen to six. Chilicothee less
(27:12):
than forty seconds to play in the quarter, fall on
the right side, off the screen. Now he'll try a
deep three from the right side. No good, love it
again on the offensive glass. Evans tries to go diagonal
down the green. Not a bad look. They just didn't execute.
It was last touched by Silicofie knocked out of bounds.
(27:34):
Now they're going to reverse it. They're going to say
that Green Green just dropped it. Okay, Well, the Calves
will certainly take it. Let's see if the Calves can execute.
We talked situational basketball. Twenty seconds to go up ten.
Let's see if the Cats can get the last shot
of the quarter. Here give way to ham Now cock
has it on the left side. Cox checks the time
on the other end. Now retreats out court half court
(27:58):
seven six in town and through the legs downhill, crossover,
pull up at the free throw line, in and out
rebound sykes three quarter, cord off the rim. No good,
We've come to the end of the first quarter Tuli
coffee sixteen McClean sys. Stay with us. You listen to
tell a coffee boys basketball in fourteen ninety wbs.

There are a lot of temptations facing young people today,
like electronic cigarettes and skateboard it. Each pod can contain
the same a line of nicotine.

Speaker 9 (29:12):

you are start the conversation with your child about vaping today.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Welcome back to Chilicopi High School. The Calves leave the
McLean Tigers sixteen six after one. Greg a little slow
start in the last three or four minutes, picked up
a little bit. What do the numbers tell you?
Speaker 14 (29:34):
Why?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
You wind up seven out of twelve, so they're over
fifty percent again from the field, two of five of
those last two threes of the three point line, McClain
two of thirteen, they're shooting fifteen percent only negative for
the Calves. They had those five turnovers in the first
three minutes.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Klain'll have it to start second quarter play. Adams has
it on the right side. Gives way to sights. Sights
up top fell They'll off of a high ball strength
from sights. He'll try a deep read, no good hamming
up for a rebound, nice strong rebound out the badger.
He'll look the push. Bager goes right side, the Cox
cocks up top Miller. Miller the right hand draws the
(30:12):
double team strong in the trap. Nice pass download to
a cutting Andrew Hammond and he lays it in. Give
one Miller a lot of credit for being strong against
the pressure. Give Andrew Hammond a lot of credit. Moving
without the basketball results in too Wow. Bell comes back
at that is a deep three in front of the
Chilicothie students. No good out comes Bager with it. I
(30:32):
would say Bell has the green light, Bell or excuse me?
Download a Carte ligging. He goes one on one of
the strong power moves, shot up Good and the foul.
Cart ligging into the scoring column here in the second quarter,
and he's going to get a chance for an old
fashioned through.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
First foule shot for the Calves.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
In the ballgame, Cartes free throw is up in good
twenty one to six. Chili coffee way out in front
here in this fac Friday night battle with my plant
evans into the Scrimmagery goes left side, love it, love
it up top the items and Cox almost had another
(31:15):
one there. Items drives hard to the rims shot up
and good and the foul and the Cox was seeing
that third dunk of the night. But when you gamble
in the scrimmagery and miss, obviously items are chance to
play downhill and he the help comes over late. He
drawls the foul in scores the baskets. It's his Zane Adams,
(31:36):
the six to three senior, it's his first two of
the night, and he'll get a free throw opportunity shot up,
no good inside position from living but love It just
takes it away. He goes right back up Hudson. Love
it truly impacting the first half. Greg on the offensive.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Life he has and you'd tell you it was six
foot but he rebounds much a little bit like a
can badger.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Miller hides it up top as no a nutter waits
to check in for the Cavaliers. Von Miller right hand
dribbled to the elbow, pull up. No good out comes
Evans and McLean Heavens reverses it to items. Now items
will come off a high ball screen and secondary break
and he loses it. Out comes the Cavaliers, whether a
stone king pushing ahead the Miller bounce past diagonal the
(32:24):
bager and he's filed. Nice nice break there good spacing
nice unselfish basketball from the Kais is gonna give can
Byger a chance to go to the laune. So the
two shots file again. No anotter will check in after
this first free throw attempt from the senior badger, Tim
(32:46):
looking for his first point of evening shot up and
that's good. Twenty two to ten is no A nutter
replaces Himmon and By'll get a second free throw. Second
(33:06):
free throw good times by thirteen six thirteen my first
half and they if I'll throw it away, Evans runs
it down now, Evans will bring it up guard. Everybody
ligging now goes right side to love it up Toop Sikes.
Sikes got in a hurry with his feet and he
(33:27):
shuffled him and he traveled turns it back over to
the Chilicothies cavaliers. As Green returns to the McLean lineup.
He's going to replace Bell Green. Throe will show a
little bit of a man, the man full court pressure
at least against millwhere one on one, so stone King
will come back and help. Stone King has it into
(33:48):
the scrimmage area up on the right wing, drops the bounce,
passing the netter better up up top. Now on the
right wing, the miller, Carte ligging at the elbow, rips
through to the right hand. Nice strong move, shot in and out.
I'm gonna draw the foul. I think he's gonna get
a chance to go back to the free throw line.
Good strong move on the rip through there.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
No, we've talked a lot about it, if you've listened
to Mone of our broadcast as freshman. That's gotten better
and better event as the season going on. And he's
got such a quick step and such a quick jump.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
First free throw for Carte is good. He'll get one
more as Hitchin's replaces Miller for Chillicafee. So twenty four
to ten. Cartel try to make it twenty five and
that one's too strong. Fight for the loose ball and
the rebound cam Biger comes out with a nice hustle
(34:43):
from Camp, gonna win Chilikafie another possession. Cam crosses over.
He'll go all the way to the rim and lay the
huns and it's cam Biger gets good night up, takes
advantage of it, and we've got to time out on
the floor for a plane. And again it's a short one,
so we'll stay here. You know that last possession shows
you a little bit of the versatility the Cavs. Right,
(35:04):
you see Cartaed ligging from the elbow on the drive
and you see Cam Badger kind of stretch one of
the bigs out and get to the glass. That's kind
of what some of the bigs for Chilicoti can give.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
You, and they need to. And both of those times
was recognition. It was one on one. It wasn't one
on trying to go through three guys, and they read
it real well. And you know Cam can do that
very Sometimes Cam thinks he can go through seventy five guys.
He's got that kind of confidence, and he's he does
control his body so well to kind of snake too
(35:34):
and is in the air and all that. But that
time he read it very well. He did a nice job
getting it to go in. And on the other side
of Carte, I'm not getting in front of him.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Those shirts and those shirts we learned that in the
fall and we're seeing it again the web over on
the left wing as we return to action. But claim
basketball here, Sykes has it gives way to love it,
love it between the legs. A couple of times tries
to drive cut off by cartade Liggan. Now it's right
died Evans against Hitchins. They'll go down load sits. Had
it Netter able to wall up and do a good job,
(36:05):
some McLean's forced to throw it back out, greening up
top the Sikes. Natur'll give them a little room there.
Stone King nearly had to steal now items on the
spin moves. Now stone King does have it and on
the way out into a two on break with Viager,
MacLean reaches in and files stone King. So let's see
that's only going to be the fourth teen foul and
(36:30):
so still no free throw opportunity on the common foul.
Bell returns to the McLean lineup twenty six to ten
Chila Coffee four point fifty one first half. Stone King
into the scrimmagery gives way to Hitchins. Kitchens through the
legs want to Noah Netter in the post out net
(36:52):
will pop out to the perimeter as a release. Five
Cartelegan has it on the right side, cross solvers again
the Nettter in the corner out the Stone teams ball
stuck on the right side. Here in this possession, stone
Kink now penetrates and kicks it left side the higins
Carte Ligan has it in the corners up top badger,
(37:12):
Badger to the left hand, dribble, splits through the double
team gets the rent lost at a little bit, and
then on the McClain rebound badger with a frustration the
bowl and we're going to go the other one. Can
Bager's first foul team second.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Now that time he had he tried to take a
big long step, but he had to go through two
or three guys. That was a difference in the one before.
It was one on one and he got to the bucking.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Twenty six ' ten chili coffee coming up on the
four minute mark here in the second quarter, items on
the drive to the right hand, a little runner too
strong Love it gets a hand on that one as well,
and it's going to go back. So chili coffee ball.
But again hugs and Love had already three four offensive rebounds,
had his hand down.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
It says six foot of a paper. You know he's
built real well, much like a carte liggan. Because he's
built strong. I think he's just able to shove off
and get himself in a position.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Miller on a hard dribbled drive dumps it off to
no a netter and the left he lays it in
know a netter into the scoring column twenty eight ten
chilikossie by eighteen. That comes McLean the penetration from Green.
Now back out the items items high ball screen from Sykes,
and the officials gonna say is an illegal screen and
(38:31):
go the other way on the turnover. So owen Sykes,
the six two senior hauled for the offensive sound and
we're gonna have another time out on the floor. This
one's gonna be a food we'll stuff aside. It's jilicothe
twenty eight McLean ten shenk Holm's great bigem Stay with us.

(39:51):
So Greg, nice start for Chilicopy. Here's twenty eight for ten.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Yeah, started out with the five turnovers the first three
and a half minutes. But I'm not sure they've had
sense well in their mind.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Well Greg, Greg Jensen into a turnover and out comes
Bell with it. Now Adams has it on the spin
move good pivot there gives way to Green Green Nice
Java Hitchens denying Bell away from the ball. Green got
Stone king in the air, but nothing to show for it. Now.
I think they're going to give away from the ball.
(40:24):
I think we have a hold on Hitchens, and I
would say Coach Beard doesn't mind that foul. Obviously Bell's
a great shooter. They've they've done a nice job of
not letting him get in rhythm, and the Hitchens really
aggressive on the denial them.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
He's trying to deny him the basketball and have his
hand on him. Green inbounds in and gets it back.
So now Green on'll set the Tigers up. At the
three minute mark of the second quarter. Here elbow entry
to love it. He'll look to go one on one
against Miller. Not there.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Back out the atoms items hand off to be well
again guarded by Hitchins, Bell cross over the left hand
gives the way to Green. Green looks to go one
on one against Stone. King gets into the middle, shot
up too strong, out comes Cox. Calves have three on
two numbers. Nice bounce past the Dick Hitchings and he
(41:20):
lays it in good recognition of numbers. Three on two
break they run the lanes. Nice bounce past from Cox
and Hitchens gets the lay up. Back comes McLain, nice
little floater runner type of shot there Jordan Bell only
at five six, but very creative and creativeness state.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
He's adjusted to his hype, knows what he has to
do to get his shot off.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Calves back on the other end. Stone King has it
on the white point. Now gives way to Miller coming
up on the two minute mark first half, Miller drives
hard back out the Cox. Now he'll go the left hand.
He'll get all the way to the rim and lays
it in Dayden. Cox has been in that attack mode
all night long, and he's in the double figure here.
Calves lead it by twenty thirty two to twelve. By
(42:05):
comes Bell. Bell points some teammates in the right direction.
Now tries to enter at the Green on the left wing,
and stone King out in the passing lane knocks it
out of bounds. It just to our left here by
the chilipopee bench. Aase Evans returns to the McLean lineup
for Green. Artay Ligan will also return for the Caves,
(42:27):
who replace Cocks and give him a little bit of
a breather here Evans, then Bell for the Tigers goes
out top to Bell. Tristan Dowton also into the McLean lineup.
Bell over on the right side takes the high ball
strength from down Bell pull up the free throw line.
Good about the best look. Jordan Bell's hadn't this evening.
(42:49):
Now He's made back to back shots thirty two to fourteen.
Chilicopy's surprised.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Next time down a one, Miller doesn't go back and
guard Bell rather than the hitches.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
His way to stone King there on the left point.
Now Hitchin's has it. Hitchin's cut off on the drive
back out the Miller west side. Stone King turns down
the three, gets it all the way to the rim
and a spout on the layup attempts so even though
the shot does not fall, Cooper stone King will make
a trip to the free throw line as Hammond and
Bager both waiting to return to the Calves lineup after
(43:20):
this first attempt. Cooper looking for his first point of evening,
and he gets it. First free throw is good. Badger
and Hammond will replace Netter and the Hitchins. Good minutes
from both of them, particularly on the defensive end. Stone
(43:44):
King will get a second free throw, try to push
the Calves lead back to twenty shot up as good
heavens will bring it up ChIL Coffee coaches getting them
into the proper matchups. Now they go right side. It's
love it, love it up top Bell, You're you're exactly
(44:07):
right Miller back to Bell here on the matchup.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Yeah, he had scored twice in round one. I'll go
back on him.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
Hie Ball stream from Vowden, How love it has it?
Love it goes right side Bell, Bell hits a cutting Evans.
Evans pivots three. Back to Bell. He'll try a three
at the top of the team. No good, fight for
the loose, all bodies fine, out comes one Miller with it, Miller,
love it coming from behind, knocked it away and that
(44:32):
should be Chilli coaffee basketball. And it is thirty two
seconds remaining in the first half. Calves thirty four McClain
fourteen badgiral inbounded on the baseline for the Calves. And
there in that familiar trying to set where they run
a little screen the screen or action. How it's up
Top carte Ligan thought about a three, makes the extra
(44:53):
pass the stone king, no good hamming on the offensive,
Glass wins it back and then throws it away. Out
comes love it McLean left side Bell, Bell, Let's Carte
Liggan fly by and I will try a three.
Speaker 15 (45:05):
No good.
Speaker 3 (45:06):
Padger has it out in the open court to Carta
Liggan and Bell gives the foul good open court file
there from Bell not to let car Tae Liggan create
a highlight film. So car Taed Liggan will go to
the free throw line and shoot two twelve seconds remaining
here in the first half, Liggan's already been to the
(45:31):
free throw line a couple of times. Let's see here
now that missed there is two for four. He made
good on the and one opportunity, then split a pair,
and then he missed that first one. Then Carta's second
free throw. That one's good. Thirty five to fourteen. Chili
coffee out comes Bell with it fell into the open court.
(45:54):
Evans fifteen footer from the left corner. No good. Miller
at the rebound four three out the stone King all
the way to the rim, lays it up off the glass.
No good in times will expire good first half of
the chilicoffee Cavaliers A lead the claim thirty five fourteen.

Bulcome back to Chilicopi High School. Here at the half.
It's been a nice first half or Capliers. They lead
at thirty five fourteen over the visiting Tigers of McClain.
Great take a look at the numbers. Four US, I'd
say after that slow started, yeah, ended up getting pretty
good for the past. Yeah, I did those. They had
those five turnovers in the first three minutes.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
I know I've kind of repeated myself after that. They
played really well, a lot of good transition buckets and
it shows up in the first sevent news. They've gotten
the ball down inside, they've gotten to the bucket, they
probably shut Shane out, and they've we've probably made what
nine ten layups, and it shows them to shooting percent.
Just go to McClean first, McClain. I got them in
halftime six out of twenty four, that's twenty five percent shooting,
(50:09):
but they're zero of eight from the three point line.
They've put up eight threes not made to one, they're
two of three from the foul line, and have them
with seven turnovers for the Cavaliers those early turnovers with
only six total in a half. They've slowed down on that.
At halftime, they got them thirteen out of twenty two,
fifty nine percent shooting. They're two of six to the
(50:31):
three point line, that's thirty three percent, not bad, and
they've also seven to nine from the foul line, so
good shooting all around, and after they eliminated the turnovers,
took care of the basketball. You know, they played very well,
shot the ball well fifty nine percent. Coach could be
happy with that anytime. And then as you mentioned, they
did a great job defensive. They forced a lot of
(50:53):
tough shots of Fort McClain well.
Speaker 3 (50:55):
And I think you look at the scoring. We talked
about Jordan Bell coming in. He has four points, but
again they're making them take tough twos. The threes he's
been able to get have not been good looks. They've
been beat and they've been contested again. Bell with four,
Hudson love It with four, a Brandon Green with two,
oh with Pykes with two, and Zane Adams with two.
(51:18):
So again, as I read those numbers off to you,
Coach Beard's got to be happy to have the three
point line and check other than Hudson Lovet on the
offensive glass, Coach Beard probably doesn't have a whole lot
of beef with that end.
Speaker 4 (51:28):
Does he know the team's coming back out already, He's
got a lot to say, But yeah, that would be
one you know surprising, uh that you know McLain doesn't
have a lot of big guys, and they have done
a nice job on the offensive board. And you mentioned
that he's a freshman, right, yes, yeah, Hudson love it.
The freshman has done a really good job. We've had
a hard time boxing him off the boards.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
And a fairless to McClean too. They're there. We should
remind fans they're playing without Riley Cumbans, so a normal
starter who who is a is a senior guard and
obviously anytime you missing that, you're gonna you're gonna fill that.
Looking over to scoring for the two of Coffee Cavaliers,
Caden Cotts had a huge first quarter, scored eleven of
his game high thirteen points in that opening quarter. And
(52:08):
then as I look down my scoring column here Andrew
Hammond was seven off the bench the season because remember
senior night, Dick Kitchens got the start, Carte Liggan with
five off the bench, Cam Badger with four, and then
uh Dick Kitchens with two, Trooper stone King with two
and Noa Netter with two. So when I look at that,
I know the a little bit different starting line up
(52:29):
the night. But the Calves, when you talk about the
slow start the Cavs looking down there at the score
column about three guys off the bench actually provided quite
a bit of offense, and that was kind of a
nice list.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
And while coach Beard I think did a nice job.
He started Vic Kitchens a senior, but he's also they
got out to a little bit of the lead, and
he had competency those guys who played a lot of
off the bench. Vic came out back in and played
and you got you know, the other guys coming down
off the bench carte a legging knowa ned right, no
(53:00):
net or come in and played a lot in that
second quarter. So and yeah, that number one, it's fartsky experience.
Number two, you've played Monday, Wednesday, Friday. You got to
come back and play Tuesday. I think that's a part
of it as well. That's an outstanding point. So again
it's been all Chilcafee. They lead thirty five to fourteen.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
We'll step aside for a quick time out and come
back and give some a second half adjustments, and we
have a third quarter action for you. This is Shane

Speaker 3 (54:39):
Welcome back to this fac Friday Night battle with Chilikassie
and McClane. It's been all cavaliders as they lead at
thirty five fourteen, and as we move ahead to the
second half leeks we look at Tomorrow night, the Tabs
will finally get a night off because they don't return
to action till Tuesday. The McClane Tigers will make the
trip out to Bainbridge to do battle with Paint Miley
(55:00):
in a non league and then they also play at
Minton County on Tuesday, where Chilli Coffee will play Logan
Elm that night. And then next Friday, Saturday, it's a
fac back to back for boat teams. Chili Coffee will
be at Jackson and then they'll see these McLean Tigers
on the road in Greenfield next Saturday night. And before
(55:22):
that Saturday night matchup, McLean will welcome Hillsboro on the
Friday night, so plenty of basketball leading into the tournament. Greg,
I know that they're talking a little bit of snow
possibly early in the week, and it's the last thing
people would want, and hopefully we'll be able to avoid
that as you get late year and the girls will
start tournament play and then boys find out Sunday to
(55:44):
drawl and after the boys will be out of.
Speaker 4 (55:46):
And I when tonight pumps you up one more as
far as your RPI and your for the Cavaliers in
Division three, so yeah, they'll find out the Sunday. I
think now maybe out of the sixteen was a D
three in the Southeast, they're fourth or fifth, I believe
in that. So and of course they'll eventually combine with
(56:07):
the Eastern district to get one winner out of that
division three with six out of the Southeast, six out
of the out of the East. I scored at halftime
a dina forty five twenty five over west Fall. Wow,
and that really, I know Adena beat him first time around.
When west Fall made I think was out was without
a couple of players. But that store is correct. That
(56:28):
a little bit of a surprise out of the SVC.
And the only other score I have up in the
occ Tays Valley losing twenty three to ten to Newark
at the top.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
There, did you have a Uniota score at the very.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
Top are Yeah, there we go twenty nine to twenty
Uniyoda second quarter River Pikes.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
There we go go. To keep in mind, Uniota needs
a win to clinch a share of the title with
Zane trace the scene in there against Pike and that's
Unioda senior night.
Speaker 4 (56:57):
So as all those scores, you'll be over to the
studios yes with Vanessa and Tonight's acrid heating, cooling and
plumbing scoreboard show.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
Cavaliers are gonna get possession to start the third quarter,
and they'll go into the back court to Jan Miller,
who will give way to Hammond out over the Cox.
Cox hands it off the stone Kings back door. Kind
of tried to thread the needle, not quite there. McLean
picks it off and by come the Tigers. Ham and Miller, Cox,
(57:31):
Bager and stone King start the second half for the Calves.
Sykes has it there at the elbow, gives way to
love it, love it, thought about a three, turned it down,
now comes back out top the bell. It's bell green,
Adams love it and Sykes for the Tigers, little two
man game from the wing Itams gets it all the
(57:52):
way to the rim, got caught underneath, but it was
a clever move just to kind of get the shot
up through contact. He's going to draw the foul. Hawx
was reaching in and see if they give him the
actress shoot.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
I think the official just said he Cox shoved him
before the shot.
Speaker 3 (58:06):
So they'll have it out under their own bucket. Backside
cut from Adams, shot up blocked by Cox, Adams gets
it back. He'll try a little fade away. No good,
White for the loose ball and the rebound. The Tigers
come out with it. Adams has it again now on
the wing up top the bell bell right side at
Sikes ball screen there from love it on the roll.
(58:27):
They try to get it back to love it and
they throw it away. Chilicopy is step laid on the
back side there to come over, but McLane unable to
pass and touch and convert. Miller crossed over now gives
the hamming into the middle a little right hand jump
hook off the glasses. Good. Andrew Hammond now has nine
(58:50):
on the evening, thirty seven to fourteen Chili coopy.
Speaker 4 (58:53):
Those are the things that Andrew has just added to
his arsenal here in his sophomore year. Able to go
down the lane, as a said, looks like he's grown
a couple of inches so he can play inside.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
Ball screen opportunity there bell coming off of the Sike screen.
They're gonna say, Sykes setting the league one again. Remember
same official got him in the first half and it's
going to go the other way. Don't know that. Coach
Haynes loved the call, had Sykes third foul and again,
off the top of my head, I know at least
two of them then have been offensive.
Speaker 4 (59:24):
Absolutely the one in the first half I thought he's guilty.
That one was kind of a tough call.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
That Tiller has it in the left corner and I'll
use the right hand dribble to come all the way
back up top the right side. Cox extra passes the
corner to stone King. Stone King up the ham and
hands off the cocks. Cocks off a badger ball screen.
Stone King has it in the left corner and he
loses it. Out comes McLean to have three on two numbers.
(59:50):
Bell from the right side. He'll try a three. I
think Coke's got a piece of it, and on the
loose ball Miller came out with it, but I think
we're gonna have a hold and that's gonna go against
Green up McLean. So in transition Bell just trying to
get some space to link the cocks ends up getting
a peace of that shot in Green was called for
(01:00:11):
a loose ball file Miller right hand ribble all the
way to the rim stripped by Green and it comes
off of one's leg and gonna go out of bounds.
Off the Cavaliers another turnover.
Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
This they started in the third quarter like they started
the game with a lot of turnovers. Just a little
coming out with that big leading.
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
There's Sykes with another screen in the open court. Now
Green behind the bike gets it all the way to the rim.
Bager blocked the shot. I think he got a lot
of body underneath, and we're gonna have a chili coffee foule.
Speaker 4 (01:00:44):
Yeah, kim tone coach Beard. My hand was straight up
in the air.
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
If he didn't made contact, he would have given him
a concussion.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Is that already swung down?
Speaker 3 (01:00:57):
I'm not buying that. Uh, Bread and Green to the
free throw line. First free throw is good. Green with
three points on the evening. See if gets to start
tonight for the sick. Riley Cummings shot up by Green
good thirty seven sixteen caives on top. Caten Cox will
(01:01:18):
walk it up for the Cavaliers. Now crossed the timeline.
He'll go left point to one, Miller left side. Now
Hammon hamming back to Miller. Miller up top Cox. Cox
gives way to Biger. Piger looks to go one on
one from the right point, and we're gonna go the
(01:01:41):
other way.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
With it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
I didn't see I got blocked out calling him for
a hook on the hook. Okay, so cam bicher offensive
file files are riding up there. That's his third back
come to Tigers. Sights has it on the right wing,
rips through the middle, opposite corner. It's love it, love it,
got caught on the baseline, throws it away. Out come
(01:02:03):
the Cavs and they throw it away. Now download to
love it and he lays it in sloppy basketball back
and forth, but the Tigers come away with two as
Hutson love It scores his fifth and six points of
the evening. Thirty seven eighteen chilicothe Cox drives hard to
the left hand, avoids the charge, shot up no good.
Cox gets it back, puts it up in good good
(01:02:24):
body control to avoid the charge on the first shot,
gets it back and then good on the second attempt.
Thirty nine to eighteen. Bell has it on the right wing,
guarded by Miller all the way over to Green swings
at the love it now the cutting Bell gets it
back mid range jumper too strong, badger at chilicoffee with
the rebound. Ydro keep it himself and bring it on
(01:02:49):
up gives the Cox Cox right hand dribble into the
mid range twelve foot jumper and bullock and he's got it.
Cayden Cox having a nice evening. He has seventeen now
for eighteen chilicoth in front, Green across the timeline, hands
up the sights up side, love it up top its
(01:03:11):
bell Laon. Miller's just been glued to him all night.
Now Adams has it left side, He'll drive baseline cut
off there by Cox spin moved up shot block by Cox.
Green comes up with it and he lays it in.
Good hustle from Brandon Green and we're going to have
a thirty second time out for a green Field and
(01:03:35):
so we'll keep it here.
Speaker 4 (01:03:38):
Yeah, the third quarter started like the game started to shame.
We a lot of turnovers, a little sloppy for the Calves,
and then finally they settled down and Caden Cox took
over and he did that in the first quarter. He
scored like six or seven eight straight points and he
scored the last couple of times down. So he's got
a good match up, he's feeling it and he's kind
(01:03:59):
of got the cap going here.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
You know. Coach Bears talked a lot about getting different
guys going on different nights. But again I think that
the Cavaliers calling card is their versatility and their depth.
You know, a lot of times if you just play
with good spacing, sometimes the play will tell you whose
night it is, you know what I mean. And in
the matchup, when you get that good one on one opportunity,
sometimes it's Cocks off the dribble, sometimes it's stone King
(01:04:22):
hitting the three, sometimes it's Badge, or sometimes it's Hamming
from three. You know, you know, we see them all
have big nights and a lot of times if you
space it and share it, it all takes care of itself.
Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Yeah, so you said, Hitchings and Licoann come into the ballgame.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Stone kinging across the timeline now gives the Hitchings on
the right wing back out left side stone King he
drives the middle jump stock good pivot. Everybody left him
shot up, no good. I'll come to Tigers head to
items items in the up and court against Hitching. Shot
up on the rim, no good, and we're gonna have
a foul. I think Vick got him on the arm.
(01:04:58):
Stone King got really deep there. Wanted to kick it out,
but as he started to pivot the two defenders jumped
at the past left him all alone so he couldn't
get the shot to go, and then the Tigers got
out in transition. That puts Zane Adams at the free
throw line. First free throw is good. Zane has three
points on the evening noa netdter returns to the Chilipafee
(01:05:22):
lineup to placing Stone can.
Speaker 4 (01:05:28):
Part of that Cooper missed that easy little bunny shot.
In his body language, he was upset with himself. I
don't think he got down the floor fast enough to
suit the Calves coaching staff must have.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Getn somebody else in the lineup. Second free throw, no go,
kaves rebound Coxs coming up on the left side, losing
it out of bounds. But it was a fast touch
by Green of MacLane out the hitchens forty one twenty
one kiz by twenty three h eight. Third quarter, Hammon
has it on the right wing, drives hard the right hand,
(01:06:00):
pulls up short corner jump or no good. Love it
having a nice night on the glass for the Tigers.
Pulls it down, gives way to Green Green old items
now swings it to love it up top sikes. Now
it's hitches guarding Bell del off a high ball screen
from Sikes. He draws two or three white jerseys. Now
(01:06:24):
it's over to Green. Green has it off. The love
it up top Atoms. How they're trying to get bel
up top and it did pretty good. Denial from Hitchens.
Now the dribble wenttry for love. It gives way to Green.
Green guarded by ligging like out the Sikes. Good possession
(01:06:44):
here defensively for the calves. Try to get it to Atoms.
Denied by Cocks. Now Green has it up top. Green
hard to the right hand up on the rim. Better
didn't block it, but he certainly changed it. Now come
hitching by Netter Kitchens left hand. Dribble hands it off
the Cocks. Cocks guarded by Adams's gonna kind of slow
(01:07:08):
it down down, retreat out and reset. They go right side.
It's hamming in the corner, drops it in the post
and Netter Netta will go one on one into a
strong hand in the left. And I think they're going
to say that McLean had a hold of them. I
think they got Green those sights. I apologize. It's four poles.
(01:07:32):
So Evans is going to return to the lineup. The
sights and the Cats are going to have an ob
under opportunity. Ice little spin move away from the ball
by Cayden Cox. You could see it developed from where
we're sitting really well. They run out triangle play. They're
used to chilicopee going up in the screen the screen
(01:07:53):
or Cox just rolled right back and got a opposite
blocked up out of.
Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
The described it for the he did. He thought he
was coming out of his greed. He spun around right
back to bucket. He was open and got fouled.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Dox's first free throw is good. I unofficially have him
for eighteen. On the evening, he'll get another and try
to make it nineteen. Second free throw is good. Forty
three twenty one. Hitchins picks it up on the sideline break.
He comes into the open court, dumps it off for
(01:08:26):
ham hamm and all the way to the rim lost
it momentarily gets it backshot up and good good recognition
from Vic Hitchens. McLean was trying to run the sideline
break off the free throw opportunity and Hitchins picked it off.
In a half court back come the Tigers. Evans has
it on the left side of the top atoms items
(01:08:46):
over the love it Natteral'll give him the space, some
space there and I love it on the dribble, gives
way to Green Green over the bell guarded by Hitchins.
That'll ha to the middle pull up jumper. Good. Jordan's
bell has six on the evening, but all twos. He's
(01:09:07):
that trouble get finding the three point shot. One of
the real elite three point shooters in the area. Forty
five twenty three Chilikafie in front. Forty five seconds remaining
third quarter, Cox hides it over in front of the
Chilikafee students, guarded closely by Evans. He's got to watch
the five count there. Now they give way to Living
(01:09:29):
see if the Cavs are going to try to hold
for one shot again. We talked about situational basketball in
the pre game. I think the Cavaliers have been a
little bit better in some of the end of quarter
situations a season. Hammon a top Cox twenty to shoot.
How it's Hitchens guarded closely by Bell. Hitchens pivot back
to Cox. I'd say, Chili Kaifee'll start to look to
(01:09:52):
go now ten nine Cox off the dribble all the
way to the rim lay up, No good, Liggans comes
flying in for a re. I think we're going to
give him over to the top, and I think we're
gonna go the other way. Barte, obviously playing hard, just
came over the top and gets called to the foul
forty five twenty three, Chili Coffee in the front. That
(01:10:16):
foul is going to be Chili Coffee's fifth, Greg. So
it looks like Brandon Green will go to the free throw.
Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
Line, and I'm mclaim three out of four from the
charity stripe here in the second.
Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
Half, first free throw good, Greg, referring to those numbers.
I have Green now three for three himself. Here in
the third quarter, Brandon Green to six to one, Senior
will get a second free throw. He's got it so
(01:10:50):
good on all four free throw attempts tonight he has
six here in the quarter. Eight in the game, forty
five twenty five. Back comes Chili Coffee long three just
to plus half court. No good in that. We'll bring
us to the end up the third quarter, it's been
all Chilicothee. They lead at forty five twenty five. Stay
with us for fourth quarter action. You listen to Chili

Since the day I stopped drinking, my life has gotten
better and better. I can't take any credit for it.
It just seems that without alcohol, I think better. I'm
more careful with money. I watch what I say. I
don't get into trouble like I did when I was drinking.
It's scary trying to walk through life alone. Today, I
have that very distinct feeling that I don't ever have
to be alone again. Alcohol anonymous it works.
Speaker 6 (01:12:01):
Look us up for local information about alcoholics. Anonymous called
seven four zero seven seven four two six four six.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Ice scored ten points. Welcome back to Chilicothee High School.
As we enter the fourth quarter. Chili cooffee out in front.
Forty five to twenty five. Third quarter shooting there, Greg,
what's it looked like?
Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
We were four of nine four two pointers two by
Kad and two by him, and and two of two
from the foul line. So the Cavs also h one, two, three,
four five turnovers. It wasn't a great quarter and they
were actually outscored by a point, but still up twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
They all gets into the middle, gets a tough shot
up on the rim. Good shooters touch bounces in Bell
nowad eight forty five twenty seven. Yeah, you were saying
as we were talking, as we're coming back on air,
their calves on the scort ten points of the quarter.
Then back up top to Hitchens. Hitchens gives way to
stone Kings. Stone King back the hitching five to work
(01:13:00):
in the post there in the middle. How they get
it to him and he draws the one on one
opportunity fade away from twelve. No good out comes Bell.
He'll push it up the right side. Bell, little runner
up off the glass. Nicely done. Jordan Bell didn't really
impressed with his game tonight, the three pointer not falling,
but he now has ten and he's really made some
creative shots in the mid range back in the calves
(01:13:23):
Stone kings lay up no good items with the rebound
now all the way up top and the layup's going
to be blocked by matter, but he got it up
on the cylinder and that basket's going to go to
number twenty one Connor Chandler, who's into the game now,
(01:13:43):
And all of a sudden, it's the fourteen point games.
Sometimes you're up twenty twenty one, you.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Get little loosey goosey, and I know Coach Beard's trying
to get other guys in, but he has to put
the starters back. You know, it's other than the legging,
but claying. All of a sudden, early down fourteen. We've
got a long way to go. We've been here before.
You're that's well, said Miller. Across the timeline to the
right hand, crosses it over to the left hand. I'll
back out the cox.
Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
You see just a little bit of energy picked up
here for the McLane Tigers. Cox hard on the drive shot,
no good fight for the loose ball, great hustle by
Carte ligging and Coach Beard is gonna get a time out.
That was an outstanding effort because McLean was gonna have
that rebound and just the extra efforts. Cartey Liggan goes
to the floor, gets possession. Coach Beard calls the time out,
(01:14:31):
just a short and let's stay here. Greg. I want
to talk about what you said. I thought you said
it really well. You come out, you're up twenty. All's
going well, it just takes one or two possessions, four
transition defense, and before you know it, fourteenth point game.
Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
Well, they're the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
You know you're up.
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
It's hard, you're up twenty twenty one points. But I
thought guys started looking for their points. You know that
you did a good batchup. I think Cox, you got
to get Cox and ham and the ball. They're the
two hot hands. And then you, I think what you
just said here, we've had a couple of balls just
didn't fall in. The problem here in the year, this
early part has been transition defense. They're just giving up layups,
(01:15:08):
not getting back.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Out of the time. Al Chilikostie possession there. Now Miller
has it right out in front of us. Now Hammon
on the right point up top. The Cocks flare screen
over to Hammon. He drives hard to the baseline shot up,
no good, car tap ligging, put back, tried, no good,
and we're going to have a foul. I think they're
(01:15:34):
going to get hamming on the push back over to
the Tigers.
Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
Yeah, the Caps have missed their last six shots in
a row and they all been two pointed. They've only
taken one three this su and that was a half
court three the end of the third quarter. They need
somebody to make one. Get one to fall here.
Speaker 3 (01:15:52):
That comes Greenfield, hard drive there from Chandler. No good.
See on the loose ballt of bounds. Ye can tell
chilicothee touch it. They did not, So the Cavaliers will
get possession. Stone King's going to return here for card
Ta Liggan.
Speaker 4 (01:16:08):
You know McLean had made four in a row, all
close range and in the finally with that miss, McLean
out full court pressure, get in stone King.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Stone King will give way to Miller. Now up to Cox.
Cox spins out of it, drives hard, bounce past there
to Hammond. Wanted to go one on one and he
lost it. Now McLean crows it away at Badger, gets
it downloaded Cayden. Cox had a lay up, no good,
gets it back and puts it in Cayden Cox's on
hippy with himself in the first one, but give him credit.
(01:16:38):
He stayed with it. Got a bite that comes McLean
right corner three. That is Chandler part Connor Chandler with
the five points there in the fourth quarter. It's his
first action, I believe with Eden Miller pushes it up
with the right hand dribble, no loft. Stone King thought
about the deep three, no dribble with the left hands
(01:17:01):
knocked away out of bounds. Cavaliers will keep it forty
seven thirty four, but was a twenty point lead at
the end of the quarter. Now just thirteen for Chilicothie.
With five thirteen to go in the game, Cocks hands
it off stone King with a good look for three,
one of his best looks. That nine can get it
(01:17:23):
to go out come the Tiger's bell in the open court.
Drives hard to the left hand, head off there by
Miller and he lost that von Miller's been terrific defensively
in my grade.
Speaker 4 (01:17:34):
Yeah, I was good defense stopping Bill from penetrating and
losing to basketball and the Miller cleared out.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
Go one on one. See if the Tigers will running
jump here? Now they clear it out. Stone King on
the left side, dribbles hard with the left hand, gets
all the way to the block. Shot up and good
stone King playing through a lot of contact on the dribble,
able to draw the the contact, get the hoop and
the harm and forty nine thirty four. He'll go to
(01:18:04):
the free throw line and get a free throw. Stone
Jing's first field goal with the ninety's four free throw
good fifty thirty four caives by sixteen four forty to go.
Here in the game, Evans goes right side Chandler. Chandler
(01:18:27):
gives way to love it now. It's a right side
three for items, so good. Evans comes out of nowhere.
It just takes the offense to rebound the way from
two Cavaliers lays it ends just out work them. Fifty
thirty six tives on top came Cox nice bounce passed
between two Tigers down to Andrew Hammon, and Hammon has
(01:18:48):
fouled on the power move. Shot didn't go but two
free throw attempts for Andrew Hampton. I was Avid's second
down On the other end, Evan's listed here just five
seven came out of nowhere and just won the offensive rebound.
Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
But we didn't box out. Everybody was kind of just
watching and nobody box down, and he took advantage of it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
Andrew Hammond in double figures. Here this sevenings second three
throw up is good. I have him un officially for
thirteen and we're gonna have a short time out. We'll
stay here. Kach Beeard called it fifty two thirty six
Cavaliers up with Ford twenty to play. Oh, it is
going to go full so full time out. Let's step away,
(01:19:36):
take a quick time out. You're listen to Chilicoffee Boys

Welcome back to Chilicoti High School, shank Holm, Greg Bigham.
Here's the Calves lead at fifty two to thirty six.
Elsewhere in the fac tonight, Greg Miami Tracey was traveling
to Hillsboro putting their seventeen and zero perfect mark on
the line in Jackson's at Washington Courthouse. I think they've
got the cheerleaders and the costume students over.
Speaker 4 (01:20:35):
There off the floor of special come there soon, you
and cheerleaders. You got to get off the floor ready
to go here.
Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Calves come out full court pressure and belln there they'll
try to clear now Avans Handley a little run and
jump there. Now Adams has it? Adams in there before?
A nice job, I Cam, Hoh, they caught a blog
badger in a pretty good position. Might have turned their
aty ind a little bit, but he's certainly he certainly
(01:21:02):
was in a pretty good position. Nonetheless, the only opinion
that matters says, that's Cam Badger's fourth fount. Yeah, that
one I didn't get. I thought grief for had tough
of tough calls on picks, but.
Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
Wow, he ran right over Cam.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
That was Zane Adams, who will go to the free
throw line. His first free throw is good. Second free
throw also good. Adams now with five on the evening,
fifty two to thirty eight, Cabs in front. Coming up
on the four minute mark to go in the game,
stone can across the time. Am I going to run
(01:21:43):
and jump there? For the Tigers give way to Miller.
Miller tries to enter at the elbow to Badger and
he I lost it. I think they want to say
Badger touch at Badger. Give him credit. He tried to
hustle and and retain possession, but to end up turning
it over Team Turners.
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
I'd say the Cavaliers just don't play with the lead
very well. That's just a sloppy, bad pass by one Miller.
You're a senior. You got to make better passes than now.
It's just sloppy when you got a big lead. Evan's
going trying to go one on one against stone King,
lost it. Bell runs it down. Now Bell, that's the
screen out top, and they're gonna call a blocking foul
(01:22:23):
on Cooper stone King extremely physical possession.
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
There had a screen up top there. They lost the
ball into the back court. At that point, the official
hide either Colver bick Or a file and he called
the foul to throw it in the back court now
to Bell von Miller cuts him off. There how a
running jump off for tunity throws it out over the top,
(01:22:50):
and somehow Hammond was there. He just missed it, and
love It, gets it and lays it in Hudson Love
It with two fifty two forty time out on the

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Welcome back to Chilicoffee High School Shane Colmbs and Greg
Bigham fifty two to forty paz by twelve. They let
it by twenty and you know, Greg a client at
twenty five points at the end of the third quarter.
They've already scored fourteen in the fourth.
Speaker 4 (01:23:59):
Yeah, I think the Caves wanted to pick up the
tempo and they pressed, but they wound up giving a
couple of easy shots against the press, this.
Speaker 3 (01:24:08):
Time against McLean's pressure. Pretty good job of breaking it.
And they hit Cam Badger down on the other end
on the free on two break and he's fouled on
the layup attempt. So he'll go to the free throw
line and shoot a pair. So it's three nineteen to
go in the game. Kis by twelve. Let's see if
Cam Biger can add to that. Coach Stone King here
(01:24:33):
to my left talking to the guards about really protecting
that free point line. First free throw, no good. Cam
will get another can now two of three on the
night from the line. He has four in the game,
but still looking for his first point here in the
second half. Second free throw is good. Fifty three forty
(01:24:56):
Caves on top. That comes Evans in a hurry his
way to items items, left hand Dribble're gonna hand it off.
The bell Bell creates some space against Miller now gives
way to Evans. Evans up top Chandler, Chandler to Bell.
Miller continues to do a nice shob against him. Chandler
thought about a three nice jump stop move, gets all
(01:25:18):
the way to the them and lays it in. Harshington
or excuse me, Connor. Chandler has been really good here
in the fourth quarter, and.
Speaker 4 (01:25:25):
The leads close as it's been for longs, down to
an eleven after being up by one time what twenty
two or.
Speaker 3 (01:25:31):
Twenty two I believe was the biggest lead.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
He'd still be aggressive. Shame, we just need layups.
Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
Stone King just that is aggressive to the to the
hole with the right hand. Let no good Bader on
the offensive glass, and he's gonna get out of one
more time. A lot of that's made possible by the
hard penetration from stone King that hell pass to come over,
and then Badger is able to stay active on the
offensive glass cam going right back to the free throw
(01:26:01):
line where he just split a pair. He'll get two
more with two twenty nine left here in the game.
First free throw that one's no good. Coach chains on
the other end, urging his guys to box out Badge
(01:26:21):
Ers second free throw is good splits another pair fifty
four forty two Calves by twelve two, twenty five to
go in the game, Bell gets way to love it,
love it off the chandler. Chandler gives the Bell now
and plays off the ball screen. Miller gets through love
(01:26:42):
it gets in the minimy of you double dribble. Really
good ball pressure. I thought my three or four cavaliers
on that possession did a nice job of cutting off
the middle.
Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
I got that as a thirteenth turnover. Unfortunately I got
Calves also have thirteen turnovers on tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
Pitchens into the game. About so right now it's Cox, Miller, Hitchens,
Hammon and Badger into the back court to Miller.
Speaker 4 (01:27:09):
Cooper out in the game and one thing you take
out one of your best free throw shooters and Cooper stunking.
Speaker 3 (01:27:14):
Left side the Cox. Cox brings the right hand dribble
up top and his way to hitchin hitches behind the
back dribble hands it two Miller. Now Miller double teams
out by half Courty dribbles right out of it. Those
hitching's right corner free no good Cox high for the
redbound cayten Cox fut back bill gold big night for
(01:27:39):
kayten Cox fifty six forty two calves by fourteen. Bell
has it on the right side, try to give it
to items and Cox pokes it away out of bands.
Last touch by the Calves carte ligging, ready to check in,
going to get hamming. So one two to play here
in the game, Adams is gonna inbound it to love it.
(01:28:06):
Love it with the right hand, ribble, gives away to
item Items between the legs, Now spins out of it,
gets it all the way to rim. Cox blocks the shop.
They're gonna say Cox got a piece.
Speaker 15 (01:28:15):
Of the arm there.
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
So if one twenty three to go in the game
kas by fourteen, Zane Adams is going to go back
to the free throw line where he's three for four
on the evening. Let's see here, I have Adams unofficially
gray or five on the night. First free throw good.
Speaker 4 (01:28:35):
They've not a free throw as well, one two, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight nine. They're ten out of twelve from the foul night.
M clayton shot the free throw as well on Greg
stat there. Zane Adams has a lot to do with that.
Currently four for five.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Then get another one here that one's good. Fifty six
forty four kas by twelve trying to get it in bounds.
They get it there to Miller. Miller one on one
against Bell. I'm sure McLean's gonna run and jump at
some point here. Now they stay one on one, poks
across the timeline, dribbled a little too deep. We're gonna
(01:29:13):
have a foul there. That'll send one Miller to the line.
That's the fifth of flame foul. So one Miller, you know,
one looking for his first point. But as always, just defensively,
he's been really really good tonight. So if one twelve
to go into game, was like stone King, Hammon and
(01:29:36):
Netter are going to check in for the Cavaliers first
free throw. Good, Let's see if he's gonna get his
singers here. I'll try to get him maybe one at
a time. That's what they do pitcheons, and then Badger
and then obviously Miller at the free throw line. So
(01:29:58):
stone King will wait and see if the scene or
point guard knocks it down that one short Cox up high.
I for another offensive remail and put back no good
Cox one more time and he gets filed. Shot will
not go, but Cox go the free throw line. And
now with them shooting two, stone King will have to
wait one free throw because of the rule where they
don't sub until after the first free throw. Cox's first
(01:30:23):
free throw is good. Now stone King can enter the game,
and one miller can get his hand from the crowd.
Here at home on senior night, Sean Brown comes to
scores table. He's gonna get Cox if Caden can knock
down this second free throw, and it is good. So
(01:30:45):
Caden Cox had thirteen at the half. And then you
add I have twenty five points, I think unofficially for
Catin Cox. I'll get that for you in the postgame
shirt at night. Fifty nine four down behind the back's
way to Evans. Now zaan't Adams will try a deep three.
He got it. Zaint Adams dials it up from long distance.
(01:31:07):
Fifty nine forty seven tizz by twelve. DeShawn Brown trapped
in the back. Ford Hammond does a good job of
flashing to the ball and on the catch is hit
from behind, so Andrew Hammond as they'll take the long
walk to the other end. Andrew Hammond will get a
(01:31:28):
couple at the charity strike. As always, Greg Andrews had
a little solid performance. Just been one of the more
consistent Cavaliers this year. Yeah, he has. He's pretty consistent
every game. First three throw good. A bunch of subs
coming in the game, will do or best to get
(01:31:49):
them for you. Elijah Store into the game where the Tigers.
Jeremy Webb into the game. The Tigers, Alex Pery got
better and Liggan in the game for Chilicothee Isaaca Sean Brown.
Now Carter Williams has made in the appearance. Then dads
(01:32:13):
have shud twenty four thousands.
Speaker 4 (01:32:14):
I believe that's the season, right, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
And Caveon Pleasant replaces hand and on that second free
throw sixty one seven ky Dane Angle also in the game,
or Angel excuse me for the Tigers, and he had
a knocked out of them, so that or the Tigers
will keep possession. Thirty five seconds to play. Angel has
(01:32:42):
it out tied. Now they go over to the right side,
go to what good pressure there by Pleasant twenty to shoot.
Store has it on the right side. Now they give
it away. That's a vinegar into the game on the
(01:33:03):
right side. Ten nine counted down. Now sixty one to
forty seven. Caves are going to win it. Here beep
three there from angle no good and I'm going to
go out of bounds and back over to the kivs
who so now all they got to do is enter.
Let the last one point five take away from the clock.
They'll throw it in de Shawn Brown, he'll hold it
(01:33:25):
and there's your ball game. Final horn sounds. Chilicoffee wins
it sixty one to forty seven. They approved the nine
and ten overall and five and three and f a
see say with the Shane Holmes great big one. We'll
be back for postgame to tell you all about it.

Welcome back to Chillicothe High School postgame edition here as
the Chillicothe Cavaliers win one here in the FA Seed
tonight sixty one forty seven over McLain. And as Greg
and I are getting the totals all, I'll kind of
give you a little recap of how it went. Pretty
fast start for Chilicopy. They you know, they I wouldn't
(01:37:04):
say played extremely clean on the offensive end, but once
they got it going, they certainly own the first quarter.
They were up sixteen to six after the first eight
minutes of play, and by the time it got to halftime,
the Calves would stretch it out to thirty five to fourteen.
As gregil tell us in a second, you know, after
the slow start, they shot the ball pretty well the
rest of that first half. Then in the third quarter
(01:37:27):
Calves stretched the lead there to They end up leading
forty five twenty five, and it looked to be smooth selling.
Give them mc clean a lot of credit. They come
out in the fourth quarter. They cut it all the
way to eleven, I believe at one point. But the
Cavaliers kind of settle back in a pretty good job
with the free throw line there in the fourth quarter
for the most part, and they went at sixty one
(01:37:47):
to forty Seven's a great as you take us through
the game. What jumps out at you in the shooting?
Speaker 4 (01:37:52):
Oh, first of all, we hit the nine o'clock hour.
Remind you're listening to fourteen ninety AM, WBX, ninety two
point seven FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio. As the
Calves get to win, let's look at shooting percenting just
first of all turnovers each team thirteen turnovers. A little
bit of a sloppy game. Calves were sloppy first three
four minutes of the game, in the first three or
four minutes of the third quarter for some reason, but
(01:38:14):
thirteen turnovers unofficially for each ball club. But clean side
tonight they come back and start shooting the ball better
after that first quarter, didn't take nearly as many threes.
They took eight threes in the first half and only
shot three threes in the second half. I think that
helped them. But they wind up on the night total
seventeen out of forty three. I had him shooting thirty
nine percent from the floor. They were two of eleven
(01:38:36):
from the three point line. They did shoot their free
throws very well. They were eleven of thirteen from the
charity strike for the Cavaliers tonight, twenty of forty four
forty five percent. They were over fifty percent, almost sixty
in the first half. That dropped in the second half,
and they wind up tonight at forty five percent from
the floor, only took nine threes, only two out of
(01:38:59):
nine from the three point line tonight for Chillicathy, but
they made up for the foul line. They went to
the bucket. They got fouled a lot, and unofficially I
had him nineteen out of twenty four wow free throw
line at seventy nine percent, So that that was big tonight.
Certainly the nineteen they outscored McLean by eight at the
(01:39:19):
charity stripe. And tell you what, the twenty four they're
thirteen thirty seven foul shots about as many as we've
seen this year in one of our games. But his
free throw line was big for the Caps tonight, forty
five thirteen turnovers and coach Beard a little unhappy. But
you know, he tried to play a lot of people.
He got the seniors in, he moved people in and
out a lot. I think maybe a little bit of that.
Speaker 3 (01:39:39):
Well, I certainly think any time on the senior night,
that always plays a factor in the way you started.
And you know there, I thought he did a nice
thing at the end where he gets the three guys
to the scores table and they kind of staggered a
little bit, and you have each senior their their their
moment coming off there. So yeah, well well done, good
good win. And again they're climbing backward that five hundred mark.
They've been ja sen it now they've improved the nine
(01:40:01):
and ten overall, five and three in FAC and play
McLean drops to eight and ten overall and eight inside FAC.
Take a look at the individual scoring first on the
McLean side, a pair of tigers and double figures. Zane
Adams with ten. Jordan Bell, the outstanding three point shooter,
did not hit a three tonight, but he still scored
ten points on five to two point field goals. Julian
(01:40:23):
Evans with two O and Psykes with two. Connor Chandler
Gret came off the bench there scored all seven in
the fourth quarter. Hudson Love at the freshman that we
liked this evening. He had eight, certainly probably pushed ten rebounds,
I would think, and then Brandon Green with eight. Eye
that all up to get forty seven for McLean Over
(01:40:43):
on the winning side, big night for six three sophomore
Cayden Cox twenty five points is what I have. He
run officially four, a couple of dunks thrown in the air,
four for four from the free throw line, hit a three.
I thought he thought. We talked about it on the air.
I thought he really showed off his entire skill set.
Fifteen for Andrew Hammond, also a four for four night
from the free throw line and a three pointer there.
(01:41:05):
And then it kind of gets a little balance from
that point on Cam Badger with six, Carte Ligan with five,
Cooper stone King with five, two for Noah Nutter, two
for Vic Hitchens, and one for one Miller. But again,
as always, let's highlight one Miller on the defensive end.
He had a lot to do with Bell getting kind
of run off the three point line. There and had
to work for everything. He got to see me.
Speaker 4 (01:41:26):
He knows, I think Backshane, and is totally unofficial. My
memory is not great, but I'm almost thinking that when
one was guarding Bell, I don't think he scored. I
think all his points that I might have came when
one was out of the game or we switched around
on that. But you're right, that was a you forget
about that. Sometimes they scored forty seven, but I thought,
you know, one Miller was a big part of that,
(01:41:47):
certainly with with the job he did tonight defensively on Bell,
really made it tough for him to get many shots
off in the ball game. Don't forget the Calves are
off tomorrow night. But back here Tuesday night. Busy week
next week Tuesday night, back with a non league game,
non conference game against the Logan el and Braves. Funny
they've played year in and year out, and then back
(01:42:09):
to conference play next week with Friday Saturday double hitter
at Jackson on Friday, and then turn around and make
up the game with McClean on Saturday. So they'll see
this same McClain team again coming up on four. All right,
there we go, coming up next Saturday. They'll see them
(01:42:29):
one more time again in eight days against against McClean.
Go coach, Beard is going to join us, and right
now he's got a little bit of a calm. We'll
talk to him here when he gets a chance in
a second and again jumps over to join us here.
And well, coach, you got a lot of guys in,
(01:42:50):
You got your seniors. You had a real big lead
that kind of had to hang on a little bit there,
But all in all, I think you'd be happy with
the performance tonight.
Speaker 15 (01:42:57):
Well, I was definitely happy with our first half performance.
Speaker 8 (01:43:00):
You know.
Speaker 20 (01:43:01):
One of the things I told the guys in the
locker rooms and in games like this, there's certain things.
Speaker 15 (01:43:06):
We have to do.
Speaker 20 (01:43:06):
We have to stay focused. We got to get better
as a basketball team. And you can see in the
third quarter we just lack of days ago going through
the motions upright on defense. Offensively, we weren't moving the
ball as Christmas we were moving it in the first half,
so it was kind of disappointed to see that.
Speaker 15 (01:43:21):
However, like you said, I got I got a lot.
Speaker 20 (01:43:23):
Of kids in tonight was get some playing time because
you never know when you gonna need those guys down
the line.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
Well, yeah, I want to take a look at Cayden
Cox and I we had him onnofficially for twenty five points,
four for four from the free third line, hits the
three point or had a couple of dunks in the
open court. I thought he really showed off his entire
game and it really impressed me. His effort on the
offensive glass. I thought he really I mean twenty five
points and twenty five points, but I thought he showed
off his entire skill sets.
Speaker 20 (01:43:47):
And yeah, there's one thing I've been trying to charge
him with is get more, get additional opportunities for yourself.
Like the last two or three games, I've been seeing
him really crash the glass and to find those extra
opportunities to get easy buckets.
Speaker 15 (01:44:03):
Tonight we're able to do that. You know, we look
out tonight.
Speaker 20 (01:44:05):
We got a definite high advantage and that was something
that we really wanted to take care of.
Speaker 15 (01:44:09):
A tick advantage of tonight.
Speaker 20 (01:44:11):
Was get to the glass because I felt like we
got to the glass, we would get some offensive rebounds.
Speaker 4 (01:44:16):
You know, we talked a little bit about it. You
don't think much about him, mcclayton started off, not they
shot a lot of threes in the first half. But
I thought, I thought Jan Miller did a nice job
on Bell tonight. He's a good three point shooter. I'm
not sure that Bell scored when One was guardening, but
I thought One did a nice job defense.
Speaker 20 (01:44:32):
Yeah, one one, one's our defender. One's our guy gets
us going defensively when he's engaged and we're engaged. So
Wan did a tremendous job on Bell, making him work
for everything he got. I thought we also did a
pretty good job on the Adams kid. I don't know
what he ended up with, but I know he had
to work very hard to get to get what he got.
So ten ten, So yeah, I mean you look, you
(01:44:54):
look at Bell, and you look at the Adams kid,
who are scoring the majority of their points, and we
had them to get ten, ten and ten. Yeah, and
I think Mail got eight of those points when Vic
was gardening. So yes, I know we did a pretty
good job defensively on those two.
Speaker 4 (01:45:07):
You know, and you talked about lackadaisy, Well you know
that we we I think we we had five turnovers
in the first four minutes of the first quarter, and
then four turnovers in the first three or four minutes
and then you talked about lack of days ago. But
on top of that, you you talked about it probably
gave up what I don't know if we weren't getting
the back or picking up, but they got it, bought
(01:45:28):
three or four easy shots, yes, And that's what took
it from twenty down to four.
Speaker 15 (01:45:32):
Again, not not staying focused on the game plan.
Speaker 20 (01:45:35):
We knew they were gonna run a sideline break, get
the guy in the corner, look for open jump shots,
and we just lost sight of the game plan. And
that's what happens when you lose sight of what you
what got you to the point that you're at. And
like I said, we just gave up a lot of
open shots and I was upset about that. However, this kid,
one of your quotes was what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:45:58):
All right, Right after that, I go, he's right, what
are we doing? That happens?
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
They're only sixteen, and that's right, that's right, you know, coach,
We we highlight so many of the guys that are very,
very talent. We talked about Cox there throughout a lot
of these interviews. We talked Hammon and stone King and Biger,
and we talked about cart legan one defense with it
being senior, and I talked about Bick Hitchens a little
bit as well. Senior, it really really worked hard for
you throughout the year, and defensively he can give you something.
Speaker 15 (01:46:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (01:46:26):
Yeah, Vick has been one of those guys all year long.
He comes into practice, he does the best he can
at practice.
Speaker 3 (01:46:32):
Uh.
Speaker 20 (01:46:32):
Vic's had some pretty good games this season where he's
locked down some guys defensively, did some good things offensively.
So I was just ticking death and he got his
opportunity to go out there. And now in the first
half we had to come into Jesus meetings. I think
he had their first three turnovers. But once he settled
down and got into the rhythm. Uh, I think he
was really good defensively. I don't think he scored maybe
(01:46:53):
a bucket too, yes, yes, on the layup.
Speaker 15 (01:46:59):
So uh.
Speaker 20 (01:47:00):
You know, Vic understands his role on his team and
when he's in the game, we expect him to play
really good defense and then just chip in wherever he can't.
Speaker 15 (01:47:06):
Offensively, he really wanted to make up three there, I think,
but yeah he did. He wanted to make it three
and bad. You wanted to get a dunk.
Speaker 4 (01:47:13):
Sot a little bit extra effort when they were trying
to Yeah, well, coach, all when you gotta maybe get
a day off. It's been a busy week for you.
Back non league Tuesday, and then Friday Saturday Lakes.
Speaker 3 (01:47:25):
So you got a busy week.
Speaker 20 (01:47:27):
Yes, yeah, So we come back with Logan elm here
on Tuesday, and then we have two road games Jackson
on Friday, and then we get to go to McLean
him play McLean on Saturday. So really big week for us,
you know, playing Friday Saturday and then come back and
following Tuesday with our first tournament game. Gives me something
to think about how I want to approach the games
(01:47:47):
on this weekend, you know who do we start game
planning for things like that, So our staff will get
together and we'll start to put some things in motion
so that we're we're ready to go on next Tuesday
as well.
Speaker 4 (01:47:59):
All right, logan On comes in. They got a really
good player in Neamiah Wall. Yeah, that'll be a good
defensive matchup for one of your guys.
Speaker 15 (01:48:05):
Yes, it will be be strong and can get to
the rims.
Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
No, alrighty, no question about it. We'll coach went five
hundred back to nine and ten, just one away and
we'll get you there Tuesday night. Look forward to calling it.
Speaker 15 (01:48:16):
It'd be nice. Thank you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
Thanks, good job, an outstanding job, Coach Beard and the
Cavaliers get the FAC win. You know great. I look
back two and eight in the FAC a year ago,
already five and three. Now you're going to have a
great challenge at Jackson next week and another challenge with
these McLean Tigers at home. I'll give you kind of
the final word here, talk me through this next week.
(01:48:38):
He made an interesting point that I had not thought
about because I had not looked ahead of the bracket
yet Tuesday, Friday, Saturday. Well, then with the Tuesday tournament
game wingering, you do you do start to take a
look at some minutes and some different things there, Maybe
because last week I never.
Speaker 4 (01:48:52):
Thought about that as well. Mike, you just given that
record kind of made me refresh a little bit. I
covered these guys last year and I keep you know,
they're not freshmen and sophomores anymore, but yet they are,
and you know my expectations. Sometimes I know how good
(01:49:13):
they can be, and we've seen how good they can be,
and when they get sloppy, but they still got some
growth in areas. We talk about that almost every game
we've done. But all of a sudden, you look down,
you said, you know what, they were two and eight
in the FAC. They're five and three in the FAC
with a couple yet to play, and they've played every
Division One school they've played this year. They've played down
to the wire, including couple overtime losses. So you know,
(01:49:36):
the big picture, I guess setting here thinking you know what,
they're coming along. They're probably a young team that still
struggles a little bit with thirty two minutes, but you know,
you can't expect them to be perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
Yeah, and again, I don't want to go too long,
but it's a great point to make to our Cavalier
nation listening. You know, as I get a chance to
kind of really follow the Chilicopia athletics, I've really enjoyed it,
and I've told several people when it comes to Chili
Cooffee football and Chili Cooffee basketball, I think it's a
real good time to buy stock and the Cavaliers. I
think with the expanded divisions here in basketball in the
(01:50:08):
next couple of years, I you know, I feel good
about the Cavaliers and where they're gonna go.
Speaker 4 (01:50:13):
I agree, young team, the seniors are honored tonight. You're
gonna lose Cam Badger and and one Miller will be
big losses and we won't push them off out of
the door yet. But there's some good young tout. A
couple of these jvs have really started to play well.
And yeah, I agree, I think the future is bright.
And we talk football, but I think it's brighton basketball too.
(01:50:33):
And the big key and we've mentioned this the fact
they're Division three now, they don't have to go to Columbius,
La huge Division one. They're gonna be very competitive.
Speaker 3 (01:50:42):
Well, good stuff, and make sure you flip over to
WKKJ at nine to forty five. They're the accurate heating, cooling,
and plumbing scoreboard show. Look forward to talking to a
bunch of coaches about a bunch of basketball and highlight
some kids. So we'll get out of here on that note.
Thank you so much, Nathan. Back in studio, Thank you, Greg.
I'm Shane Colembs's final score for the final time. It's
a winning night for the Cavaliers. They went at sixty
(01:51:03):
one forty seven. It's along everyone
