Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for Chilicothee High School basketball action on the
home of the Cavs fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, a Dina Health System and Holler
Funeral Home.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Good evening, everyone, and welcome at Chilicoppe High School inside
LSP hatt and Memorial Gym Made. I'm Shane Holmes alongside
lou Postage, and we have a court side seat here
at the newly named Thomas M. Kupet Court. And tonight,
your Chilicothee Cavaliers bring a three game winning streak to
the court where they're going to welcome an outstanding challenge
in the Eagles of New Aubany and lou Is. We
(00:41):
take a look at this obviously an incredible challenge for Chilicoffee,
but it's a Chilicoffee team that's been playing some of
it's best basketball the season. I know, I'm talking to
coach Beer last night. He was excited about the challenge
and you kind of viewed as an opportunity as a coach.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yeah, and you talked about the three straight wins coming
in here prior to that restrained losses, but they were
two six and two, two really good basketball teams. So
they are playing their best basketball at the right time
of the year, and this will be a big challenge
for him, which we all beeny coming down there with
a I believe a thirteen and four record with the
loss last night, but again a challenge they're going to
(01:21):
accept because they haven't been getting better and better. We
saw them together their first game of the year out
of eight Trace against Adina. I haven't seen him since,
but I've heard a lot of good things about them.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Well, it's a basketball team that's had trouble getting over
the hump. You know, they let a couple of winnable
games get away early in the year, and I thought
that growth really showed up and some of the most
recent wins you mentioned their growth. You look last year,
they're two and eight in the FAC. This year, they
said at four and three, outright third place. If FAC
(01:55):
fans missed it was an afternoon make up today with
Jacks and Mimi Trace. Miami Trace stayed unbeaten. So Miami
Trace is seven and o Jackson it's six and two,
but you know, Chilicotia at four and three. And keep
in mind here in the last two weeks on this
home court, they've lost fifty four to fifty two to
Jackson a Miami Trace. So I think it's the point
you're you're making and that's a great illustration. So Miami
(02:16):
Trace will be tough to catch, but certainly from last
year this year, big time growth. And I know from
a coaching perspective, that's all you want to see going
in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Crowds oh, without a doubt. And again this isn't you
know you look at it. There's some young players still
out there and this team is still going to improve
from this year to next year. But I guarantee you
a lot of those teams are looking at those brackets
come next week. They don't want to see a Chillicottee
appear on their bracket because this is going to be
a tough out here at the end of the year.
(02:44):
But I'm anxious to see how they're going to accept
this challenge here tonight to a New Albany team that's
got some hype, some athleticism, and they have definitely played
a pretty strong schedule.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Well, let's talk about that challenge. I know you're familiar
with the OCC and so forth, the OCC and the
Ohio Division. Pickerton, Lincoln, New Albany and Westernville Central all
tied in the win column with four and watching them
on film, you know, we're gonna talk about their starting
lineup later, but they're gonna go anywhere from about six
two to six four. Talk to me about that challenge
(03:15):
in terms of, you know, fundamentally and some of the
different challenges Chilicothi's gonna see from the FAC in comparison
to this OCC opponent.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
You see and in the FAC you see a lot
of height and some strength and things like that. But
at the OCC what you see is multiple players the height, strength, speed, athleticism.
That's where it comes into play in those leagues up there,
and again it shows this part of the league because
there I believe there's five leagues in the OCC. Now
(03:48):
this part of the league is very, very competitive. As
you mentioned there, all teams have like four wins and
also two to three losses because they basically beat each
other up a little bit. A loss last night to
again Hannah Lincoln team who's right around five hundred, but
in the league they're right with everyone else. So it's
(04:10):
it's one of those things where depth, depth is what
you see out of these teams, and the depth of
Chiligothie will be challenged here tonight. I think as well.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
You mentioned you haven't seen Chili Coffee since opening night.
But let me let me roll something out for you
and give us a coaching perspective on this. You know,
I think Chili Coffee throughout the year has really started
to find some world identification. They found a team identity.
They're really mixing some versatility, some inside out play that
that takes time. You know, from last year to this year.
(04:41):
What do you see with high school kids when they
when they get that say, around thirty games under their belt,
and they get in the year two and they start
to play together. I'm telling you, it's like a light switch.
It just seemed to come on here about a month ago,
and they're playing really well. In your experience, what what
have you seen there in that growth from a kid
when they get in that second year of varsity basketball.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
So again, it's one of the those deals where as
a coach, you sort of early in the year see
how things play out, but then you have to adjust
roles and it's how kids begin to accept those roles
and good teams gel because good teams buy into that
type of thing and from what I understand, that's what
(05:20):
we're seeing here at this Chilicothe team. They are buying
into what's going on, they're buying in what Coach Beard's
trying to get them to do, and they're all accepting
those types of roles. And yeah, you would like to
have a basketball team where everyone's sort of equal and
you're all scoring. That's not how it is to have
good teams. You gotta have somebody who can take care
(05:42):
of the basketball and that's what they bring to the table.
You gotta have somebody who can rebound the ball. That's
what you bring to the table. And then you're gonna
have some guys that are the scorers. Once people start
to accept those roles in play to the best of
their ability in their role, your team is just going
to explode good stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
And again, we appreciate everybody being with us at fourteen
ninety am obviously ninety two point seven on the FM side,
and of course you can get us on the iHeart
Radio worldwide and ChIL Coffee. We've been joking getting a
chance to finally wear the white uniforms and they're going
to get to keep them on for a while here
on their home court with makeup contests coming up on
Monday and Wednesday night with Western Brown and Central Crossing,
(06:23):
and then next Friday night return to fac play with McLean,
and then the following Tuesday Logan Alms. I want to
say it's in the midst of like a six game
home a street here where they get to play, and
that'll be exciting to see them go. Coming up on
about three and a half minutes here in the pre game,
we'll step aside for a quick time out and we'll
be back with tonight's starting lineups. You're listening to Chili

Welcome back to Chilicopi High School. Sharing Holmes and Loup Hostage.
Taking a look at a nice starting lineups. First for
New Albany head coach Tim Kase, they have a player
ill tonight, a six to six junior forward Danil cry Lobby.
He's an outstanding player, so they're going to be down
one starter tonight. So taking a look at their starting lineup.
(08:11):
A point guard of six to two junior Cayden Kissner,
a six to four junior shooting guard outstanding talent, and
Marco Matucci another outstanding talent going to be a college player,
six to three senior forward Miles Jackson, and then Grady
bush Is a six to four senior, and then replacing
(08:32):
cry Law there out to the illness tonight, and the
starting lineup is normal six man and junior guard Jackson
Throne Lou There. On the Chilicothee side, you want to
take us down there, Coach Beard run them out pretty
pretty much the way he normally does.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Yeah, he's gonna start with a five ten senior Jan
Miller I he'pe played a point guard for them, also
a sophomore sixty three Caden Cox, another sophomore six four
or Andrew Hammond, a six ' two junior Cooper stone King,
and a six to three senior Cameron Badger. And again
(09:08):
you look at that chilicothe team. We're talking about the
size of New Albany as I look out there again
with Chillicothe not bad size at all.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
No, it should be. It should be a really good
match up. The Chilicothee kids will play real hard and
like I said, a great test for them in the
non league here to seven well coming up on the
national anthem, we'll step aside one more time and after
a short time out we'll be back with the Knight's

Welcome back to Chilicothe High School again. Shane Coinsloo posted
sitting courtside here for Thomas M. Cup at court and
coming up on the national anthem. A pretty pretty good
crowd tonight on the Hall of Fame side. Throughout the evening.
We'll try to highlight some of those names, maybe Loup,
but pretty nice ceremony. I was impressed with the way
they used the students here at Chilicothe and some of
(12:34):
the board there. Give me some of your thoughts just
on that ceremony pregame. Yeah, that was really good.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Here at kill Got the high school, they have some
video boards here at the scoreboard. They were able to
take the student to class the media classic, and they
did a wonderful job of highlighting those athletes. And again
those athletes. We are a mixture of athletes all the
way back from I believe seventy five up until twenty seventeen,
So nice mixture and again great crowd here of those
(13:03):
family members and everybody coming back to see those members
get inducted to a Hall of fame. Philip Couthie's got
a wonderful Hall of Fame and they've got some great
athletes in.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
That allSome we no question about and what it was
impressive tonight, ranging all the way back to what nineteen
seventy five, also had some more recent athletes there in
twenty seventeen, and then they stretched across the board. You know,
you're talking about great swimmers, great boys and girls, basketball, wrestling, football,
had some coaches, had a team go in. They also
had some individuals they just they just honored for outstanding
(13:34):
service to the community. So again really complete, really well done.
New Albany has been introduced on the starting lineup, and
now the lights will go off here fit to Hatton
and they'll get the spotlight down there on the Cavaliers
and student sectional offer some lights and some different things
(13:55):
with the self done, good atmosphere. Joel Coffee's had some
success here home played at a high level again, hoping
to get them off to a good start tonight. You
know when you're playing an opponent like this, Loo, I
know coach speak, but man, in the first two or
three minutes so important.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
And again you're you're so hyped too, if you're Chilligotti.
This is just a great thing to play. A team
like New Albany coming down here. It's a great challenge.
And I'm sure they're excited, they're hyped, ready to go.
Sometimes you got a temper those hype but down a
little bit. Make sure you just play the game of
basketball well.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Chillikathe in the home lights with the blue Chilichathe cursive
writing with the blue numeral there, and be Caden Cox
jumping center New Albany in the road maroon with the
Vegas gold numbers. A little bit of black trim involved
there too. Cavaliers will be moving our left to right
as we see it here this evening. When New Albany
coming back right to left, tip goes up, Cox wins
(14:53):
it tips it back to Van Miller and the senior
point GUARDI walking across the timeline to get us going
here this evening.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah, New Abn it starts off and mandomn I imagine
they're going to play that throughout, really stiff, strong, Mando
man ball pressure, great.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Heads a back of Miller here. Now Hammond's got it
on the right side. When a drive baseline pull up
mid rings jumper, no good. Jackson for the Eagles has
the rebound. He'll look the push gives way to Matucci
out top. Now the point guard Tistner will come out
and get it and the Eagles will set up just
thirty seconds in no score.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Tell Katy in there, mandomn.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Pretty patient first possession here for the Eagles. Pretty good
player movement right side. It's Matucci out top. That's Bush.
Now back to Tistner and they're going to try to
go down load to get Jackson. Hawk's was one on one.
Your Badger credit on to help gets the block shot
out of bounds and it'll be Eagle basketball.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Yeah, Badger quickly went down to help him. Once they
turned inside. He was there quickly to help out with
the block.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Obi under opportunity for New Albany. It's kissing her out
top is back in the quarter to Matucci's gonna play
a two man game there. Now Jackson has it up top,
left side, that's thrown back up top and Tucci'll try
a three ball and he got it Marco Matucci.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah, that was looking.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Three nothing new Albany. Cox brings it up for chilkythe
gives way to Miller. Now stone King has it at
the point. Little flare screen there for for Miller. Gonna
drive it to the left hand. Now stone King's gonna
try a left wing three no good, good box out
there from Bush and the Eagles look to push it,
kissing her a little stop and go, move all the
(16:43):
way to the basket, and Caden kissing her to junior
point guard his first bicket a night knew. Albany leads
it five to nothing.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Yeah, that was quick after a miss bucket. They got
the ball down the floor and got all the way
to the bucket.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Miller enters it right side on the wing. The stone
King King picks up the dribble. Now Cox comes to
leave the pressure. Cox will go to the right hand,
pull up on the mid range shot. No good Kissinger
with the rebound, he'll turn and push it. He's got
it on the left side, back up top Matuchin. Pretty
good transition defense from the cavaliers. Kiss Nursey dribble. Entry
(17:20):
pitches at the Matucci. Now it's right side that's thrown
down load. Jackson will look to play one on one
against Cox. Pretty good defense from Chili Coffee there to
kick it back out Kissner and now try the left
baseline spins the middle. Pretty good box out from Badger,
but the ball goes over his head and the Eagles
have another possession. Now Jackson will try three at the
(17:41):
top and he knocks it down and Coach Beard is
going to take a quick time out, short and let's
stay here. And that's the third Eagle all ready to score.
The initial defense not bad for the Caves, but unable
to wrap it up with a defensive rebound.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Yeah right there. I mean, you got to get that rebound.
Can't give him the second shot opportunity. On the other
end of the floor. All the'se got three good looks.
They just haven't gone down so offensively. There's good movement,
it's just they haven't fallen. And new albody basically three
for four shooting here, three straight possessions. They get scores.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Well, you know, and I think it's a good time out.
If you're Coach Beard just trying to settle things down,
you're gonna come back on the other end. Maybe easier
said than done, but maybe the Cats try to get
something to the rim here and see if they can
put some pressure on the officials. Maybe get to the
free throw one and again.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
That's a time now where you say, hey, guys, we're
not playing bad. They have three scores, We've had three
good looks. They just haven't fallen. Let's not get you know, upset.
Let's not get you know out of our game. Keep
doing what you're doing. We'll be okay.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Out of the time out chilicothee possession. It's gonna be
Kayden Cox walking it up. Looks back to coach Beard,
just to make sure everybody's on the same page. Now
he goes into the scrimmage area, gives off the Hammond
new albody going to trap the first pas to get
it back to Cox. Cox reversus at the Miller. Now
Badger has it down low. Badger picks up the dribble,
(19:06):
back out to Miller, getting very good man to man
defense for the Eagles. Miller penetration. Back out the stone King.
It's right side. Cox, Cox wanted Badger in the post.
Not there, Philicifi'll swing the ball er to the left side.
Now Miller and Badder will play a two man game.
Miller tried to hit Badger on the roll, but he
throws it away. Out come the Eagles on the turnover.
(19:28):
It's kiss me all the way. No one picked up
the ball. He got all the way to the middle and
missed it. Shot back up. No good hamming with the
rebound and bodies are flying. We're gonna have a loose
ball foul. Let's see that they get here.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
We're gonna keep it here. It's gonna be on Chili coop.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
I think they're gonna call it on Miller, So yeah,
common foul away from the ball there on one Miller
first team foul, and New Albany will have it underneath
in a box set. I'm gonna throw it out top
to Jackson.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
It's to be a third opportunity here on this possession.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Tucci turns down the three in a corner, threw it away,
but Throne runs it down, dumps it off the bush.
Bush on the power moved too strong. Five you're at
chili coffee. With a rebound, He'll look to push it.
Five New Albany defenders back in front of the ball,
so the Cavaliers will set it up. Hammon's got it
in the left corner guarded by Throne. Penetrates to the elbow.
(20:25):
Right side a stone King. Stone King trying to get
some space, guarded closely by Matucci. Cabs good patients here
on this possession. Hammon's got it on the left wing.
Penetrates to the middle, back out the Miller ate. Nothing
New Albany. We're about four minutes into the game. Stone
King from the right point back up top. It's Miller,
(20:46):
Miller penetrates. It's Cock's on the left side, getting good
patients from ChIL Coffee. Just New Albany. Not allowing much
off the dribble.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
No they I mean nothing's coming easy for the cavaliers
on the offensive end, working hard for everything.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Stone King will dial up a deep one on the
left side, no good, And in transition to lision at
half court we play on now left side. Jackson will
try a three shot, no good. Stone King with the
reband still ain't nothing. Eagles on top, Chilicofie trying to
get the lid off the basket. Miller calls for the
(21:21):
high ball screen from Badger. Miller comes off of it,
gets about the elbow, kicks it out the ham and
hamm And with a pull up from the elbow. That's
off the mark. Chili Coafee is still scoreless.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, they got to see what go through the bucket here.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Jackson brings it up, looks back there to coach Casey
gets the call from the bench. Now chilicoffee into what
looks like a two to three zone where they'll stretch
it out, just a little dip. They lob it up
over the top. Jackson on the alley hoops what they wanted.
Pretty well, defended by Chillocoffee, and when he was on
the floor, one official look, I think the nearby official
(21:56):
had the time out and again they're going to take
a short one, so we'll stay here. Went to the
two three lou and they tried to go to the
to a quick hitter where they throw it up over
the top to Jackson. I thought Chili Cooffee defended it
pretty well.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yeah, I think that was number twelve. Andrew Hammon did
a good job of just going up there and stopping
that play from happening. Ball was loose there and on
the floor. Knew all but he had it. That's one
of the things I don't like, where that referee should
not have been looking down here at the coach at
all when play's going on here, So how does he
get that time out?
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Well, it's certainly it's a weird timing mechanism because, like
you said, you got a player on the floor, the
one official on the baseline. I'm not so sure he
didn't have him on the in line.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I just it's one of those things in the game
of basketball, you know, coaches calling time out. I just
I don't know. It's one of those I'm not sure about.
I'm not sure if I like that.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Ain't nothing new all but he two forty two first quarter,
Chilli Coffee been pretty good on the defensive end, just
havn't been able to get one the fall in the
offensive end, steal in the two three zone. Out of
the timeout, Jackson has it up top and your field
is checked into the game for New Albany as well.
Now Bush has it in the short corner. They swing
(23:12):
it all the way back up top. Now Matucci trying
to work in the high post. He stepped out to
the three point line, back to Kisson, download a. Bush
drops it inside the in your field. Pretty good double
up there from Chili Coffee.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Three.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
No good, but put back is there that was Bush
on the on the offensive rebound, and it's ten to
nothing New Albany.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, that's just too many second chance opportunities for New Albany.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Kill.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Kathie's done a good job initially defensive and definitely defense
it inside.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Two main game Badger and Carte Liggan who's checked into
the game for the Cavaliers. Right side three. It's hamming
no good. New Albany continues to make it one and
done for the Cavaliers. Jackson stopping going the open court.
Wow contact at the rim, no call Partey ligging walled up.
Now Ligan will come out with the basketball. He goes
(24:03):
right corner to Cox. Cox looks the back his way down,
now gets into the elbow picklumping goods. Caden Cox gets
that money spot where he likes to play off the
dribble right at twelve to fifteen foot range, and he
finally gets chili coffee on the balls.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yeah, let's see if chill a guy that he can't
go on a little run here, get a stop here defensively,
go down and get another score.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
One thirteen first quarter. Matucci at the high post shot,
no good fight for the loose ball, great hustle from Stoneking.
Body's flying all round. Now we're going to have a file.
I think they're going to get Hammon with chilocope in
chili coffee. That's two or three times to raft the
possession up. Body's flying everywhere and gonna get the hustle
(24:46):
foul there on ham.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
That's another sub coming in here for New Albany. This
is where some of that depth on the bench comes
into play.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Dean mad into the game. He's got it up top
again the two three zone from Chillicothe, still number ten,
Luke Ford with a three pointer from the wing. No
good goes out of bounds. I think they're gonna say
a cavalier tipped it on the on the attempt to
get the defensive rebound. So it's still going to be
New Albany basketball. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
I mean, Chilcotty's working so hard here on the de
de defensive end, they just can't get any breaks to
go their way.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
All the way out top there.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
It's Ford.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Forty four seconds remaining in the opening quarter here, still
in the two three zone. Chilcothe got stone King Cocks
up top with Badger ligging and hamming across the bottom
going to the quarter. Now inside Jackson Jackson up off
the glass and it's good. Miles Jackson having a nice
opening quarter twelve to two. New Alburnon.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
They found himself open there about ten eat away and
was able to get the bucket.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Badger drives the right hand cut off, now crosses over
back to the left, tries to get it up and
he's going to be rewarded with the file. Let's see
if they get it on the floor. He's going to
the floor here, yeah, coming over there. They got the
Brady Bush his first and the team first fifteen point
six on the.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
First quarter clock. You know, massives of.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
New already. Now we uh protecting some starters, maybe foul trouble.
Also have some files to give. We watched in the
JV game a little bit of a strategy where they
tried to eat some of the clock on the ob
under they drop the cocks, nice little set. Hawks gets
to the rim, unable to convert. Save back in bounds.
New Albredy to look to push seven to shoot. It's
(26:52):
foured with the basketball all the way over to the
right side. The drive all kinds of contacts shot up
and no good and we've arrived at the end.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
First quarter.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Welcome back to Chilicaffee High School shan coolms loop postage.
New Albany leads at twelve to two after the first
quarter of play. Lou takes through some numbers there well, chill.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Conte only one of eight shooting there, zero of three
from beyond the arc. New Albany four of five or
four of fifteen shooting two of five from beyond the arc.
Both teams very few turnovers and the referees would definitely
let him play here tonight. It's a lot of contact
the New Albany basketball.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
To start the second quarter. Chillicoffee will remain in the
two three they now have know aletter in the game,
and Miles Jackson one more time from the right corner
dials up another three, fifteen to two. New Albany by thirteen.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
It's got a smooth shot.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Miller penetrates, kicks it left corner to hamm and good
look at it just doesn't go in. I'll comes Matucci
with the rebound, throws it ahead to Jackson. A little
stop and go move gets to the rim give no
a Netter credit for challenging that shot. Ligan comes out,
he goes all the way to the other end and
lays it in the athletic Cressman much needed spark here
gets Jilli Kathie's first bucket the second quarter, fifteen to four.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Yeah, I like to see that speed. Get it all
the way to the bucket there it never stopped.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Get in the two three zone. They put no one
atter at sixty six right in the middle of it.
Down there with Hammon and Carte Liggan. That allow Miller
and Cox a chance to stretch out up top. High
low game here for the Eagles. They get it down low,
it's bush block by Netter. It out comes Hamm and
with it throw it ahead to Cox. Cox a little
stopping go gets to a strong hand, the left hand,
(29:50):
and the little dipsy de lay it in off the glass.
Nicely done. Fifteen to six through already lead down the nine.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Ye had nice little run here at Chili got you
gotta look, Noah Nitter, he's changed the game here a
little bit short time he's been.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
In thrown out top. He's there with kissing him. They
run the shooter Mattucci to the corner, three ball, no
good hamming with another defensive rebound. Cox will look the push,
got it on the right wing, didn't have numbers, makes
a good decision to back it out. Now it's a
clear out situation, but he'll throw it back up the miller.
(30:27):
Miller tries to penetrate Downhill, goes right corner to Cox.
Cox with the left hand dribble back up the Miller.
New Albany still on the man, the man. They get
it down low after Miller on the runner up off
the glass and good and on Miller's first bucket of
the evening, fifteen to eight. New Albany now leads by seven.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Yeah, and again Chilli Conedy taking his throne to the bucket.
Probably something coach talked about at the quarter break.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Jackson with an elbow jumper too strong. Cayden Cox with
the rebound, used the spin dribble across the timeline. Calves
are within seven. With the basketball, Miller has it on
the right point, goes through the legs penetrate the middle
of He lost it. Out comes Petucci into the opening
courdinyjams at home.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Yeah, that was just an unfortunate turnover. There haven't turned
it over very much, but led to it easy to
by you.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Albany, seventeen eight. Carte legging on the drive, kicks it
right corner to him and and he dials up a three.
Andrew Hammond had a really hot hand here on the
home stand and good to see him get one go
through Calves within six at seventeen eleven, five minutes left
first high.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Yeah, Cavs nine points already here this quarter. They only
had two in the first.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Up top, it's Jackson nearly taken away by Cox. Now
Bush has it in the left corner like out Kizner.
He'll swing it up top Matucci. Now kisn will go
out and get it and they'll reset. Calves still extending
in the two three zone. Patucci out top, comes left
wing to Bush. I'm a Touci'll die one up from deep.
(32:01):
It's short the bushes there. If the offensive rebound will
tutch you one more time from threes again, No good
hamm and of Chilicoffie gets at this time, gives way
to Cox.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Got to do a better job, Aric. Can I give
multiple shots?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Four twenty to play in the half seventeen eleven New Albany.
Cox goes right side the Miller. Miller trying to use
a ball stream from Hammon, but the ball pressure is
just intense, and I think Joach Beard is going to
use a time out here.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
Wow, he's caught in a five seconds he was dribbling,
ticked it up. That should be a restarted the count.
And that was not not a good call right there,
and Coach Beard's telling him again he stopped dribbling and
he only had about two seconds with the ball in
his hand.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Wow. Nonetheless, four minutes to go in the half seventeen
eleven New Albany, the Eagles will have the basketball. Ford
has it on the left wing, give the Matucci in
the corner, get it into the high post. It's Jackson
blocked by Netter again Noah Netder giving him quality minutes
on the defensive end. Out comes ligging back to Miller,
Miller thought about a three. I will penetrate back out
(33:16):
stone King. He'll try a three from the top the
key and he got it, Cooper stone King three ball
and chili coffee within three. Just like that. Catucci on
the left side down into the short corner and he's gonna.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Get called for steps traveling.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Violation and Chili coffee. Two things that jump out, I mean,
Lou the defensive presence of Nedder in the middle, followed
by some hot shooting from Chilicothe in the quarter.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
And also New Albany's going for a lot of steals
that leads to some open shots and Chili Cothy's going
a good job of taking advantage at and burying them.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Stone King gives way to Biger. Bager tried to cross
it over and he dribbled it off of Jackson's foot,
goes out of bounds, so it's gonna still be cavalier
bass own King will be the trigger man over just
in front of the New Albany bench. Hammond's going to
return replacing Wigan. I thought Carte Liggan had played some
positive minutes there for coach Beards.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, quick spark there. He's the one who got him started,
going all the way to the bucket, getting at two
and got the run started there.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Stone King crows it all the way to the back
court to Jan Miller and he'll bring it up again
trying to come off the ball screen from Hammon. He
gets all the way downhill, nice cross court, past the Badger.
Good look at it, Cooper Stone King had a chance
at the offensive rebound, lost it. I'll come the Eagles
with the possession.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Yeah, unfortunately they weren't able to make that one. But
that was a great cross court pass to find the
open end.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Ball deflected out of bounds the New Albany. He will
keep possession. Two fifty seven left, first half, Eagles by three.
Jackson will inbound it right in front of the Chillikothee students.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Gotta love the way Chili Cothy's played this quarter.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Ford has it on the right e, comes up top Jackson,
now left side. It is kissing him high post to forward,
inside out game. They swing at Jackson with a nice
ball fake, got Badger in the air and Badger's going
to come down on him. But I don't know that
he went up into the shot. I think it's gonna
be on the drive.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Yeah, it's definitely on the floor. Get no first team
found here of the quarter, so no foul shots.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Cox returns to the lineup for CHILICOTHI you, replacing one Miller,
so Cox, Stone, King, Badger, Netter and Hammon for the Calves.
At this point, Jackson has it on the right side,
kissing with the dribbling entry now they're going to go
up top to Jackson. That's the play they tried to
do earlier. Just a little ball reversal. They throw it
(35:44):
over the top and a little alley hoop for Jackson
as he dunks at home. Nineteen fourteen for the Eagles,
Stone's sitting playing through all kinds of contact, the job
of keeping possession Cox hard on the drive, and they're
going to call the offensive file. Kind of a weird
angle on that offensive foul compared to what you normally see,
but nonetheless going to turn it back over to the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Dad, I think the defense was still moving into them,
and again I if no nothing, it's a no call there.
I think.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Nineteen fourteen New Alredy in front two fifteen left, first half,
just across the timeline. I'm gonna give way to Machuchu
over I side Ford to try to go down in
the short corner. Jackson tried to hit a cutting in
your field, ends up getting knocked out of bounds. Last
touched by the Cavaliers.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, they like to find guys on the backside, sneaking
in the backside, whether it be for an allee or
just to pass.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
In benda Jackson. Those are a top chissing it Chilicothe
looks to be matched up on this possession. Ford'll try
a three point or no good. Cox runs down the
long rebound, so calves within five with the basket ball.
We have one forty five left first quarter. Cox going
to the left hand dribble uptop stone King. Stone King
(37:08):
uses the job step, tries to create a little space.
Now give his way to Cox. Coach Beard likes that
Cox match up, wanting him to attack. Comes down to
the left hand pull up jumper. He got it. Wow,
if you could tell Coach Beard like that match up.
He wanted Cox to go and Cayden Cox delivered the
midrange jumper. Nineteen sixteen New alban over to Ford on
(37:29):
the right side. Now it's kissing. They want in your field.
Down on the post high high entry to Jackson back outside.
It's Kissner for free and he's got it. Nice inside
out for the Eagles twenty two to sixteen. New Albany
pushes the lead back to six.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, they do a good job of getting that inside out.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Stone King to the right hand ribble, gives the badger
badger through the legs cross. Solvery picks it up. Now
it's back out to Cox. Fifty two seconds left in
the half. Cox into the mid range, pulls up at
the elbow, in and out. Fight for the loose ball.
Better working hard, but you're filled with the rebound. Let's
see if the Eagles take the last shot here, thirty
(38:09):
nine seconds to go. They lead by six with the basketball,
Kissinger backed up by half court.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Looks like they're going for a zone here with Chilcovey
and New Albany's going to try to take it down there.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Ford has it on the left side, a little deeper
than I've seen the Eagles in their depth, but keep
in mind they're playing without a starter here of the season.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Yeah, I think you're going to have a little fifty
five seconds.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Now it's twelve. It's on the right side of Chissener.
I thought about a three. Biger takes a foul and
again Coach Stone king up off the bench, letting them
know they have files to give.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Again, you've got to be able.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
It's a good strategy, but you've got to be able
to spread them out individually to make sure you don't
let it lead to foul trouble. Later, Carte Liggan will
return to the lineup for Bager out top Ford. That's chistener.
Now it's bush Chilicoffee was trying to file. They didn't
(39:08):
call it. Now they throw it. Download them Jackson, they
lay it in as time expired. ChIL Coffee was trying
to take a foul three times. They didn't call it.
They throw it down load and they lay it in.

Welcome back to Chillicothee High School, Shane Combes and Lou Postage.
We're here at the half where New Albany leads Chilcafee
twenty four to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
It was.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
It was a tough start for the Cavaliers tonight, as
New Albany jumped out to twelve two advantage after the
first quarter. That lead ended up growing to fifteen to two.
But then as Coach Beard got some nice minutes from
his bench as he went to Carte Liggan and Noah Netter,
and I thought that that sparked the Cavaliers a little bit,
(43:59):
and slowly, but surely the Cavs started to get back
in to the game. They ended up getting all the
way to twenty two to sixteen, and then they're at
the buzzer. The very talent and Miles Jackson was able
to beat the buzzer and push the lead back to
eight nonetheless. And you know, after you're down thirteen oh,
to be back within eight, you got to feel pretty
(44:20):
good about it. So you know, with with that in mind, here, Lou,
you look at the numbers. I'm gonna guess from the
first to second quarter, just the ball going in had
to be a little bit better filling for chilicothe.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
Yeah, that quarter they shot sixty seven percent six of
nine from the field. Overall, in the first half they
were seven of seventeen forty one percent, two of four
from I'm sorry, three of seven from beyond the ark.
So again, much better shooting in that second quarter, and
I love the flow that they played in that second quarter.
You look at New Albany, they were nine of twenty six.
(44:54):
They've got nine more shots in Chillicothy, and that's all
because of a second chance opportunity. Chilli Coothy's got to
do a better job, and they did a better job
there next second quarter, but they got to continue to
do a good job. And again New Albany was four
of eleven from the three point line thirty six percent.
And again I thought the presence inside of Noah Netter
(45:15):
gave the Chillicothe Cavaliers a spark.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
Agree completely. The other outstanding event here tonight is its
Hall of Fame night here at Chilicothee High School. And
wanted to make sure we give a shout out to
the people who have been honored a nineteen seventy five
class had Terry Richardson a boys basketball and track as
well as Joe Deafenball for football and wrestling. Then in
(45:39):
two thousand and seventeen aust Brown obviously girls basketball outstanding
player here and then swimmers act airs coach Bill Davidson
outstanding job as a football coach and other acctivities here
at Chilicothee put a lot of time in for the Cavaliers.
And then Ryan Brown nineteen ninety three boys basketball he
(46:00):
individually gets in as well as his basketball team a
Division one district champion. There by they were coached by
Joe B. Stewart, and then award a mayor to Nancy
Arlige and Kenny Mohner for the outstanding efforts that they
have provided and in making really the Chilicofee facilities top notch.
I don't think anyone could argue with that little now.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Without a doubt. You know, I remember, believe it or not,
I played high school basketball in this gymnasium against Chillicothe
and I liked it back then. And they did some
refurnished or you know, uh, redoing the high school a
little bit, and when they did it, they made it better.
This is a wonderful facility.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
Uh. They added a.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Second gym next to this and over there at that
football field. That what a fantastic uh facility that is.
But I only get off topic too much.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
But you know, I kind of liked the smaller gym
because you get these types of atmospheres. I know a
lot of these bigger charmnament sites. They're awesome. No one's
doubting how nice the facility is. But you and I
are little bit old school in terms of I like
the smaller gym being remodeled because it still allows you
night and night out to get these types of atmospheres.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
Yeah. I remember there was an old coach's corner over
there where you had some of the old guys over there.
That boy, they could get rough, but it is. It's
a nice intimate atmosphere. The great thing is being down
here on the floor doing a game from radio. Normally
we're up top, but coming down here on the floor again,
(47:33):
we'll do a game on the radio.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
It's right in the action. I like this well again
a couple of minutes until the third quarter will step away.
New Albany leads Chilikafee twenty four to sixteen. Stay with

Welcome back to Chilicopy High School. Shane Holms loop post.
It's coming up on third quarter action and you know
loud you look back on fifteen to two. Coach Beard's
got to like the way his kids responded. I think
the message at the half would would be to try
to get some of that confidence, to see if you
can't put yourself right back in this thing in.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
The third quarter. Yeah, you don't want to see what
happened in the first quarter where we really struggled to
score offensively. I think you need to see more of
that second quarter. And you know, as Coach probably talked
about it at halftime, let's continue to attack the bucket.
Let's continue then to find guys that are open, maybe
(49:31):
on the back side, but defensively, we've got to do
a better job rebounding well.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Obviously, second half action, we flip it around and ChIL
Coaffee'll be coming our right to left as we call it.
Coach Beard will run it out the way he started
with Miller, Stone, king Ham and Badger and Cox New
Albany with Jackson Bush Mattucci thrown and kissed him Chilicoffee
was possession to start the third quarter to allbeing a
little bit of a run in jump. Cox jumps up
(49:58):
over the top, hits him down low, but try to
come back out to stone King, and it was tipped
out of bounds, last touched by the eagles.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
So Chilicothie will keep his ass. Great job there until
it got a handle in that little trap right off
the back.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Stone King will be the trigger man right in front
of his own bench. Tried to drop it into post.
The badger taken away by Bush baseball pass ahead the Kissler.
He's one on one with Miller in the open court.
Shot up in Miller, I think to the AUF is
a five. Nice job one. Miller draws the charge, gonna
turn it back over to the kops. Yeah, I thought
he did a good job. It just defended him.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
But to be able to get that charge there, that's
even better.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
So no basket score remains twenty four to sixteen New
Albany and be Chilicoffee basketball as one. Miller will walk
it up, comes across the timeline there, enters right side
to him, and Hammond uses the left hand dribble. Now
comes wing to stone King. Stone King wanted to dribble
hand off the Cocks nothing there, STIPs it across to Hammon.
(51:01):
Now Miller has it over on the right wing, guarded
closely by Throne. He drives into the elbow. He pulls
up right elbow jumper. Good one Miller.
Speaker 3 (51:10):
Yeah, that was a really good job of him attacking
the middle of the floor, getting to that fat line
and then finding himself open.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
Twenty four eighteen. Eagles back in possession of the basketball,
chilicoffee back into that two three zone. We end up
seeing a lot of this there in the second quarter.
Right side is Kissment high post, thrown inside out Jackson
Chili coffee, probably more manned than man throughout the year.
But now on the zone and Jackson dials one up
deep left wing. Miles Jackson having a nice evening.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Yeah, he's just smoothed. He can shoot it from all
over and we know he's got the hops. We saw
that Ali oop they went to him.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
Twenty seven eighteen new albody in front. Miller gives way
to stone King.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
Thought about a deep three.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
Now comes left side. It's Cox. Cox drops at high
post to badger. Badger to a cutting stone King and
there he's gonna dribble it back out six twenty one,
third quarter, New Albany by nine. Miller drives to the
left hand cut off there by, Kissing gives way to Hammon,
(52:14):
hamming down to Badger. Badger will try to right corner.
I couldn't tell if it was still. I think they're
gonna say just inside for the deep tu cam Badger.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
I think the one referee was going to put his
hands up, but then he didn't.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Twenty seven to twenty New Albany back come the Eagles.
Jackson's got it up top. I posted the tuocie. Now,
Kissinger looks over to coach Casey and he's gonna reset. Better.
Look at Jackson up over the top. Nothing there thrown
now gives it the Jackson down low. Badger tried to
draw the offensive foul, no call, and Miles Jackson just
(52:51):
lays it in at the rim. Twenty nine to twenty
New Albany.
Speaker 3 (52:53):
Yeah, Jackson, I think I've got him for seventeen tonight.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
Miller on the drive his way to Cock. Now it's
Badger at the right point, drives hard down hill the
right hand shot up. No good Cox on the offensive
last footback, No good Cox stays with it through all
kinds of contact. Ball gets knocked out, and I think
it's gonna be last touched by the Eagles. Chilo COTHI
give Chillocothi's Caden Cox a lot of credit playing through
a lot of contact.
Speaker 3 (53:18):
There, Yeah, an awful lot of contact. But I like
the attacking of the bucket there, even the niche one
by Badger.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Vote in the back court to Miller and he'll walk
it across the timeline Eagles and the man. The man
run a little flare stream from him, and but Miller
will drive to the right hand and his little runner good,
nice soft touch. Twenty nine to twenty two. New Albany
Cads within seven.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Yeah, he's got six points on the night, three for
three shooting.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Cavesick remaining the two three zone thrown on the right side,
goes to the corner. Now Jackson on the cut inside. Jackson,
no good. Badger tried to save it, and I think
they're gonna call him on the D line. So the
Eagles are going to keep it. And again another stop
in chilikotis just unable to wrap it up with the rebound.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
Yeah, I think he was out of bounds and he
tried to get back into bounds in bounds before he
touched it again, but he couldn't.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Obi underneath, and Jackson just slips right down the middle.
One touch. That's way too easy, Miles. Jackson lays it in.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Yeah, he's not a guy you want to lose.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
Thirty one twenty two and knew already in front that
comes Miller high ball stream from Badger.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Goes to the right side.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
It's him and Hammond tries to get baseline cut off
there outs all the way back up top its Cox.
Cox goes between the leg and now on the Crossholver
tries to get all the way to the rim and
he lays it up, driving with the right hand, got
back to his strong hand in the left hand and
he finished a soft off the glass.
Speaker 3 (54:44):
Yeah, eight points tonight for Cox and he's done a
good guy.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
Patucci on the drive, I thought he came down that.
They said it was deflected out shot. No good cavaliers do.
Get the rebound stone King out top the miller. Miller
hard drive his right hand and draws the file. They
were going to call it on the floor before he
went up in the act of shooting. So thirty one
twenty four. We're gonna have Netter and Ligging into the
(55:12):
lineup for Chillikathie, going to replace Spager and Miller. Wow.
Speaker 3 (55:17):
I thought a lot of contact after Miller left his
feet and somebody sort of grabbed it threw him on
the ground.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Jahansson into the lineup for the Eagles, replacing Throne Chili
Coathy's going to have it underneath in a high triangle set.
Cox tries to cut to the ball, gets it there
in the corner, rip through, spins back, fade away, jumper
at the mid range. Netter up for the rebound. I
think they're gonna get him over the top going the
other way. Good hustle from Noah, just a good inside
(55:46):
position there from Bush he draws the file thirty one
twenty four new orbiting Coach was just telling Coy's get
all the way to the rim, and he's done a
good job of that tonight.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
There he just faded away right side.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
It's Mattuci's gonna come up top to Jackson. They get
Joe Hanson there at the high post. Good inside out.
Now it's Jackson at the elbow. He jumps a high
low bounce past the bush and he lays it in again,
way too easy. Thirty three twenty four New Albany back
to nine.
Speaker 3 (56:22):
Yeah, a lot of things go through jack Miles Jackson
on this team. There there is a nice pass.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
Cox has it up top.
Speaker 3 (56:30):
He gives way to cart He Liggan.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
Fliggan through the legs now cross Solver tries to drive
cut off there al Stone King off a high ball
stream from netter, drives left hand in the middle. Shot
fake tried to dump it off the netder take it
away by Matucci. Two on one for the Eagles into
the open court. That's Joe Hanson and he lays it in.
Thirty five twenty four is New Albany pushes the lead
(56:54):
to eleven.
Speaker 3 (56:55):
Yeah, there was a good transition there by New Albany,
and again soft pass leads.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
To a Turnoverligan hand off the stone King. Stone King
gets inside the three point line, mid range jump or
no good. I'll come the Eagles looking the push Jackson
in the right corner. Shot fake now makes the extra
pass the a two G three No good. Jahanson runs
down the offensive rebound and they're going to call him
(57:22):
for traveling. You're gonna turn it back over and I
think we're gonna have a timeout on the floor. It's
a full one. We're gonna step away with them. New
Albany leads at thirty five twenty four. Stay with us.
You're listening to Chilicoffee boys basketball on fourteen ninety WBX.
Speaker 12 (57:38):
Not thinking about radio, think again, because more people are
listening to the radio on iHeart today than they did
twenty years ago. And only iHeart broadcast radio connects with
more Americans than TV, digital, social, any other media, even
twice as many teens than TikTok.
Speaker 15 (57:55):
Think radio can help your.
Speaker 12 (57:56):
Business, Think iHeart streaming, podcasting and radio called eight four
four eight four four iHeart to get started.
Speaker 15 (58:05):
That's eight four four eight four four.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
iHeart Welcome back. Shane COLLMS. Lou posted cheer on fourteen
ninety AMWBX and ninety two point seven FM of course
worldwide on iHeartRadio. And you know, Lou, I think playing
this level competition, what you find if you're Chilicothee is
you could play with them, but the margin of air
is just very very small because when you when you
(58:27):
mess up against this level of athlete, they're going to
convert it.
Speaker 3 (58:30):
On the other end, Yeah, usually leads it like you said,
a quick bucket on the other end. And again, I
think the physicality of this game right now is wearing
a little bit on the Cavaliers. You know, their their legs,
they're they're you know, it's just seems to me it
seems like they're letting him play an awful lot and
(58:51):
there is a lot of physicality going on out there,
and that's going to be tough. Yeah, that should be
white ball. I don't know what they had a.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Travel violation when they into the time out. I guess
they're gonna say they had to time out. The one
official said he had to time out before that, So
I was getting ready to say Cavalier ball, but it's
gonna be Eagle basketball coming out of the time out.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
Again. I don't like that that the coaches all the
way over here. Ball's over there, he's calling time out.
How do we know he got the time out beforehand? Again,
not a fan. Jackson has it in the right corner,
back up to Johansson. Alex Matucci goes behind the back
chilli coffee still in the two three with stone King
(59:31):
and Miller up top. Eagle's not in a hurry, back
up top, teach you Todt thought about the deep three.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
Now they get Jackson down low. Nice job of bumping
the cutter there by Carte Ligan. Now on the drive
one Jan Miller one more time takes the charge. Just
simply beat into the spot on the baseline. Nice job
by the senior point guard.
Speaker 3 (59:51):
Yeah, he's showing his quickness there too. And again that's
just a good defensive possession by Chilli Coffee. Out of
that time out.
Speaker 2 (59:59):
Evan Muirfield, the six to five sophomore, returns to the
lineup for the Eagles. He returned, he replaces I should
say Grady Bush. So thirty five twenty four New Albany
in front one twenty eight third quarter. Cox will bring
it up for the Cavaliers. Cox left side. It's him
and up top Stone King Stone King out of Miller.
(01:00:21):
Carte Logan flies his high posts. They hit him there,
he turns rows it to the opposite corner there to
Cox Cox into the mid range. Think Jackson got a
piece of that shot? How comes matuci Or He gets
into the open court little stop and go spin move,
gets down on the baseline and see if they call
him and for the reach in there. Offishal comes over
(01:00:44):
to the table there. Yeah, they got the twelve white,
so thirty five twenty four remains the score. One minute
to go here in the third quarter, box set on
the ob under for the Eagles, throw it all the
way out top to Jackson left side. It's Johansson.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
I can see them holding it here for the last one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Makes sense fifty seconds in counting up eleven, certainly the
Eagles not in a big hurry possession. Airo also favors
the Eagles, so they get a chance to double up
here if Chillicothe doesn't come out and force.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
The action here a little bit. Yeah, you got eleven
point deficit here. If you're Chillcothe, you want to get
a stop here, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Miller looking over to bench seeing how close coach Beard wants.
And now it looks like they're going to match up
with twenty two seconds to go, and Cox picks it off.
He's out in the open court and he lays it
in big, big turn of events there for chillicothee as
Cox scores the deuce on one end by come to
Eagles and the ball thrown out of bounds. But I
think Tavalier did get a hand on it. There knocked
it out of bounds, so eleven point three to shoot
(01:01:54):
thirty five twenty six New Albany and the Eagles will
have possession of the basketball and what should be an obi.
Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
Under yeah and again. If you're Chillkathy, you want to
get a stop here, you're down nine, keep it under
ten here going into the fourth.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Quarter, Kissinger will be the trigger man. Throws it all
the way out top.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
It's Jackson.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Jackson into a hand off to Johansson. He brings Matucchi
back to the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Three.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
No good Stone team comes out with it. I head
to Miller, Miller up off the glass. No good Tarte
Leggan tried to follow. As the horn sounds, and we've
come to the end of the third quarter, we already
thirty five chilikoffee twenty six. Stay with us, you're listening
to Chillicothee Boys Basketball on fourteen ninety WBX.
Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
Since the day I stopped drinking, my life has gotten
better and better. I can't take any credit for it.
It just seems that without alcohol, I think better. I'm
more careful with money. I watch what I say. I
don't get into trouble like I did when I was drinking.
It's scary trying to walk through life alone. Today, I
have that very distinct feeling that I don't ever have
to be alone again. Alcoholics anonymous it works.
Speaker 5 (01:02:59):
Look us up for local information about alcoholics. Anonymous called
seven four zero seven seven four two six four six.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Welcome back to Chilicothy High School, Shan Holmes Loop Hostage, Chilicothe.
You're playing pretty well here after a slow start. The
really really talented New Albany team. I have them at
thirteen and three coming in on the year, and you know,
five times they've held a team to less than thirty points.
So scoring to basketball has been a challenge for a
lot of teams, and tonight Chilicothe really after what would
(01:03:31):
you say, really the first quarter they kind of went.
Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Toe to toe with them. Oh, they sure have. And
again I love the way till the end of that quarter.
It could have gone bad. It could have been like
a thirteen point deficit. Now it's only a nine point deficit.
They got two stops there at the end of the
third quarter and almost got two buckets out of them.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
New Albandy comes into the game averaging about fifty four
points a night on the offensive end, so so far,
Chilocoffee's guarded them at a pretty good level. Chilo Coffee
averages right around fifty four themselves. They're they're not on
that type of pace. But again, the New Albney defense
has a lot to.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
Do with count Now, be I'm crazy to see here,
or if New Albany is going to try to pull
Chili Cooffee out of this zone where if they're going
to continue to play New.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
Albany with possession to start the fourth quarter, they live
it up top to Jackson and again the same alley
who play this time unable to dunk it, but he
hangs in the air long enough to lay it soft
off the glass and end thirty seven to twenty six
New Albany. Jackson having a huge night.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Yeah, I think I have him for nineteen points.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Clicking up top, you've bloydam Miller Chili Cooffee with a
little bit of a shuffle action with a backscreen on
the point stone King on the drive right into the
double team and pick your guy there. I think he
was fouled by a couple guys.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
Well, he was found initially on the drive. I mean
it's a foul if you try to drive and they
physically stopped you by holding you are put in an
arm out and there they called the foul because they
basically just push him out of the way to get.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
To the ball and bail underneath there. Miller drops a
bounce pass to a cutting Cartey Liggan and he lays
it in thirty seven twenty eight caps back to the
single digit.
Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
That was a great move without the basketball by Ligan.
He came top, it wasn't open, so he goes to
the bucket.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Jackson has it up top.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Right side.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
It's kissing. It looks in the high posting shooting. Now
they get Jackson on the left wing. He drives and
he's met there at the rim by Hammon, and looks
like they're gonna get Hammon on the contact there and
that'll send Jackson. I think they're gonna get Ligliggans went
up with him, and I think they would have been okay,
(01:05:45):
but Liiggans brought his hands down, and when you bring
your hands down, they're gonna call it every time. Is
this the first free throw of the Knight?
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
It is the first free throw of the knife Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
So Jackson will go to the charity stripe. First free
throw in and out Badger returns to the lineup for
the Calves. Thrown returns for the.
Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
Eagles, and I guarantee you all these players on the
floor are gonna say, man, that was a physical game
last night. You would have thought there had been all
kind of free throw.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Jackson will get another free throw. Second one is also
no good. Cox had a decent box out had Bush
and excuse me, your filed over to top. I think
they're gonna say Cox touch it last. So two miss
free throws, golden opportunity for the Calves, but they can't
finish with the rebound and who all but he's gonna
(01:06:33):
keep possession.
Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
Yeah, that's unfortunate. There. You gotta go up and anytime
you have a chance to get it, you gotta grab it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Strong enter at the throne up talk history. They tried
to run a double for Mattucci. Not there now, thrown
on the right side, offensive rebound your field, He gets
it by and uh the second opportunity this time, I
think they're gonna get cart A Leggan on a file.
(01:07:00):
So Evan Muirfield, the six ' five sophomore, whether they're
gonna call it on the floor on the rebound, I'm sorry,
I thought we were going back to the free throw line.
So it's gonna be New Albany on the obi under
one more time. They throw it all the way out top.
It's kissmun Chissner drive retreats to dribble back up toward
(01:07:21):
half court. Lokathi's still in the zone. Left side, thrown
up top. Jackson kicks it over the right side, kiss
Munt trying to get it in that high post. They've
been trying to play high low off of this all night.
Pretty good job of denying Jackson there on the cut.
New Albany continues to stay pacient. Six point twenty one
(01:07:41):
left in the game, thirty seven to twenty eight, Eagles
on top. Thrown hard drive to the left hand shot
thanks there, kicks it all the way back out top.
They make the extra pass Jackson for three no good,
and again it's Mirrorfield on the offensive glass, but he
brings the ball down and stone King is able to
go in and tie him up. Possession arrow going to
(01:08:02):
favor the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Yeah, this is I believe now the third or fourth
shot at it the Eagles, it's gonna go white bam okay,
So that they had the quarter, the eagles at the quarter.
And okay, they had eagles at the quarter and they
said they didn't flip the possession. So there's gonna be
(01:08:24):
Chili Cooffee basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
As Bush returns the line up there for New Albany,
six oh seven left in the game, thirty seven twenty eight,
New Albany on top.
Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Yeah, big possession here at Chili Cooffee down nine, chance
to cut it, cut into that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
Miller gives way to Biger, Figer on the hand off
there to Cox, Cox the stone King. Now Miller on
the left side. Miller will try to penetrate cut off
there a top Bager Figer will take a three. No
good rebound. Bush of New Albany remains thirty seven to
twenty eight. Kick it to the right side. Matucci turns
(01:09:03):
down to three, kicks it opposite to Jackson.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Now it's in the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
So New Albany again gonna show some time and score
patients here with just in re up top five twenty
eight and counting here in the fourth and final quarter
on the left side, Thrown turns down the three. Now Matucci,
we'll take a corner three, and he got it, and
right off of that they're gonna call the time out.
It's going to be a short one. Let's stay here.
(01:09:29):
And again I thought you said it bestill in the
last possession, big opportunity for Chilicothe. They missed the three.
New Albany comes back, knocks it down. Six point swing
in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
Goes back to twelve. And again it was a New
Albany with the patient offense. They're running through it, getting
it reverse two or three times, finding a guy wide
open in the corner. And now we're gonna extend this
to a full time out here. Again, this is one
of the things where you know, calling the time out
there after you make a three for New Albany. I'm
not sure what he's thinking why you called that, But again,
(01:10:02):
I don't know if he's gonna come down here and
do something defensively change or what. But again, Chillicothe, you're
still in this game, five eighteen to go, a lot
of time left. You just got to get some stops
on the defensive end and make something happen on the
offensive end.
Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
As he said, extending the full time, I'll give the
coach just a little bit longer with him there, and
as we come out of the time out, Chilicothee. You'll
have the basketball in the full court. New Albany comes
out of the time out with Kissner thrown Bush, Jackson
and Masucci. Looks like chili coffee. You'll have stone King
(01:10:43):
and Netter, Cox, Fager and Miller. So again stone King
will go down and inbound. It looks like New Albany
will not pick up in the full court, so it'll
be one Miller bringing it up for the Calves. Actually
he'll get a back to Stone stone King will bring
it up. Stone King comes across the timeline Droub one
(01:11:04):
thry to Cox had a little bit of a run
and jump there from the Eagles. Miller throws it clear
across court, over the track. Cox will try three in
and out fight for the loose ball. Knowing better, Ice
Hustle saves it into Cox. Cox on the drive. Oh wow,
and they're going to call him for an offensive file
(01:11:24):
Coach Beard trying to get an explanation. He's gets somewhat
of one. I'm not sure he agrees with that was
a Lake call.
Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
And again I think he just saw what happened, and
what happened was the offense or defensive guy just flat
out fell down. It was in the Bullickstreet, and again,
unfortunately for the Cavaliers, that goes down as a turnover
and we're going the other way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Four fifty to go in the ball game forty twenty eight,
New Albany on top. Cash extend his zone out just
a little bit here they got Jackson up top. Now
it's thrown up top. Good patience for the Eagles once again,
going to force the Calves to come out and get
him here a little bit. They're trying to get Jackson
(01:12:12):
at the high post. Calves are doing a pretty good
job taking that away. But now the clock becomes just
as much the opponent as the Eagles, who have the
twelve point lead up top to throne. Now Jackson has
in the high post. He squares up. It's an inside
out opportunity. And again Eagles almost I don't want to
say into a stall game, but they certainly not not
(01:12:33):
minding the tempo the slow way down.
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
Yeah, you know again, I think till God that he's
gonna have to come out of the zone, have to
play a little bit of man to man here at
the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
They have matched up. Now they enter it to Jackson,
hand off to the cutting and touching, he lays it in.
Nice jobs, just a real, real good sense of time
and score and good execution from the Eagles. They lead
by twelve. Stone King gives way to Cox. Cox gets
it all the way to the rim, shot up and
good playing through contact. Even there, he's able to score it.
(01:13:02):
Now they're within twelve. They had to scoreboard there. Now
they're within twelve, forty two to thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Yeah. Cox has done a good job of getting it
to the bucket here tonight. I really like it when
he does that because he really brings something to the
Cavalier offense.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Jackson on the left point gives way to Chisner. Philicoffie
now is in the man. The man still holder tries
to go into the layup and Noah ettar Over on
the help side throws it into the wall. Nice athletic
defensive help side from the six to six sophomoint.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
I've got him for three blocks here tonight, and again
he's done a good job. He's not up there just
swinging away at things. He really does a good job
of controlling his body and knowing what to do once
he's up there.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Him and to replace Stoneking here on the defensive end,
and he's gonna talk to Badger and they're going to
switch up their matchup there as the Calves gonna play
man the man here on the obi under. They love
it out top to near field into a handoff from
a two. Tucci working against Cox. I'm going to go
right side the throne now off a little flare screen.
(01:14:07):
Matucci gets it back. He drives the middle, a little floater,
no good. He gets his own rebound, gets Netter in
the air, and he's going to get to the free
throw line as a result. Marco Matucci, the six to
four junior shooting card, nice player by that time, just
got to the middle. The floater no good. He was
able to stick with it when he comes down. He
(01:14:27):
just gives a real good head and shoulder fake and
got Netter in the air and was able to draw
the file.
Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
Yeah, Matucci has ten points on the night, and again,
as you said, he's just a really good score. He
knows what to do, he knows how to control his body,
and he knows where to find the openings.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
First free throw is good. Matucci will get a second.
Trying to add to this forty three thirty advantage for
New b Albany second free throw is good, So fourteen
point lead for the Eagles, three zero four to go
in the game. Cox will bring it up for the
chili coffee and the cave's gonna have to go a
little bit here. Cox high ballstream from Bagery, actually rejects it,
(01:15:06):
goes to the left hand, download and Netter and Netdter
unable to handle the pass. Ball hits the endline, going
to turn it back over to the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Yeah, and again good look there from the top. But
really got to like what Nedder brings to the Cavaliers.
He's only a sophomore, and wow, to think of what
he could be here in the next couple of years.
Really good outlook for the Cavaliers.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
Jackson has it on the right wing up top of
your field. Refers to the Calves still in the man
demand good bump with the cutter there by Cox and
Jackson wasn't able.
Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
To get it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Now I'm your field goes up top to throne thrown
the Tucci. Eagles with good player in ballved movement here
to run this clock through twenty eight in County Eagles
by fourteen and teach you and away from the ball.
We've got all kinds of contacts and bodies are flying.
I don't know who they got here.
Speaker 3 (01:15:59):
Let's see call it offensive foul. I mean put his
hand behind his head like an offensive foul. But it's
called it on the defense.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
So that's the fifth chilicothee foul. So I guess Throne's
gonna go to the free throw line and shoot two.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
I think I was on Cam Badger, so forty four
point thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
New Aubenehill pop thrown goes the line. First free throw
rims out on him. He'll get another as stone King
returns the lineup, replacing Badger. Bush returns to the Eagles lineup,
replacing your field.
Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
Thrown.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
Second free throw up, No good, Jackson with an offensive rebound.
The Eagles get another possession. Now the clock really starts
to work against the Caves. Two to eighteen. Eagles into
a little bit of a spread there, sharing the basketball
out top announcement, Pucci, now it's kissing her again. No hurry,
(01:16:58):
just looking extend it out and run the clock a
little bit. Clock all the way down to two minutes. Now,
Bush has it up top Almatuchi tried to spin out
of the little bit stunk King did a good job,
and again the Calves need the basketball. Jackson gives the
bush back to Jackson. Jackson had a three point look.
Obviously that's not what they need right now, and then.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Ligan takes it away.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Let's see in the open court, the freshman gets up
and slams at home carte. Liggan excites the students section there.
Coach Beard will take a quick time out, and we've
seen that already a couple times this year. Earlier in
the year in the scrimmage area gets Washington Courthouse. This
time the freshman pokes it away and goes on the
other end and gets up off two feet one hand
(01:17:42):
and that you can tell the student the section approved
of it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
And again that's what happens like New Albany right there,
trying to be very patient, but they're not running their
normal offense. So again you see Jackson with the ball.
There were many times there I think Jackson could have
drove hard to the bucket there and he did. That's
where you get those kind of turnovers. So you got
to really be careful if you're a team like that,
of just taking your own team out of their offensive flow.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Well, forty four to thirty two New Albany still up twelve.
So on one end you do get the turnover into
two points. On the other end, New Albandy before that
turnover probably did Milke about thirty five seconds off of it.
So now as you come out of the time out,
decision time for coach Beard. Obviously this is gonna be
a hard team to pressure. But you're you're gonna have
to step out and push the push the tempo here
(01:18:32):
just a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
Yeah, and again I think you're going to look for
something as far as the trap or uh, trying to
run through some passing leans here if you're chillicopic.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
So the Calves in a defensive pressure lineup have Cox, Stone, King, Ligan,
Metter and Hammon. Looks like Cox is gonna go up
top here. Let's see if they match up or if
they do in this own they got they've got no
It looks like they're just gonna go man and a
man because they got no one netter all the way
up on the ball. See if you don't, they're gonna
look on the whole run pass over the top. And
(01:19:08):
they hit Matuci and he traveled with the basketball and
they didn't call it. He caught the basketball and took
about three steps and they just missed it and he
laid it in. Marco Matucci with the lay up forty
six thirty two, New Albany by fourteen. Cox back on
the other end, shot up. No good netter, keeps it alive.
Cocks fighting for the loose ball and it's going to
be tied up there with with Caden Kisston.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
I mean, I don't know how you miss that. Referee
was right in front of him and he let it go.
I mean, that's that's just unfortunate, and that's you know,
you're you're playing so hard as a team, you just
hate for that to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
Possessionaro the Eagles, so they're trying to get one Miller
back in the game here. I'm sure for defensive pressure
going to replace netter one four little uh set across
the free throw line there. Let's see if they look
to go deep again, not there time, They'll just throw
it in bounds and Jackson will get it right back
give away to the point guard, kissing one. Third team
(01:20:06):
to go in the game, New Albany by fourteen with
the basketball. Kissinger there good ball pressure from Ligan trying
to get a five count. Cox will come over and
apply a double team. The Eagles do a good job
of handle it. Jackson tried to attack the rim and
he lost it, so it's going to turn it back over.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
To the Cavaliers.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
The clock has gone under a minute fifty nine point
six as Johansson returns the lineup for New Alburney Here
replaces Jackson.
Speaker 3 (01:20:33):
Yeah, as a coach, I'd just like to run my
regular offense. I hate when I take your team out
of the regular offense and trying to milk the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Miller trying to get downhill here, gets all the way
to the rim, dumps it off the car Ta Liggan.
He gets a shot up, no Good, gets his own rebound,
kicks it back out. Cox now out to Miller. He'll
try a deep three, no Good and the ball out.
Before the ball falls out of bounds, it looks like
the the baseline official has a foul away from the ball.
(01:21:05):
Going to have a foul on New Albany just their
team second that was on throne, so Miller will have
an inbound opportunity underneath his own basket. Tries to get
it all the way out top to Cox. Forty seconds
left in the game. Cox drives got off there, but
the double team goes right corner to Hammon. Now back
(01:21:25):
to Cox. He'll try a deep three, no good rebound
Matuci in New Albany with twenty eight seconds to go,
and they'll go to Kissner and I think the Caves
are just going to guard him straight up from here,
Fistner walks it across the timeline. Cox backs off, not
giving a five count, and it looks like the Eagles
are going to dribble it out. New Albany forty six
Chilikoti thirty two. Really, you know, the difference in the
(01:21:48):
in the game was that first quarter where it got
out to twelve to two and eventually a fifteen to two.
Fistner and Cox slapped hands there with good sportsmanship and
two to one, and that's the final buzzer. Only stay
with us while have twenty of postgame recap for you.
If we get a chance to salf Coach Beard, we
will and we'll try to get some individual scoring for
you again. New Aubuny forty six, Chilicoffee thirty two.

Welcome back to Chilicopi High School. Shane Holmes and Lou
Post is here on fourteen ninety WB x O and
the aMCI ninety two seven on the FM, and of
course iHeartRadio, get us worldwide, and we're here starting up
some postgame action as New Albany defeats Chilcafee forty six
thirty two. And you know, Lou, I look back and
(01:25:41):
this is a this is a basketball team in New
Albany that just had a twelve game win streak snapped
last night an a rival game with Lincoln comes in
at thirteen and three. Now improves the fourteen and three
and Chilicothy I felt like they were coming in playing
their best basketball the year. Three game winning streak with
wins over Greenup County, consul U, Hillsborough and Courthouse they
(01:26:02):
were seven and eight. Now they go to seven and nine.
But certainly no no fault tonight's effort in this game.
I go back to the first quarter twelve to two,
eventually fifteen to two in my notes, and then from
that point on, the Caves you know, settled in and
play obviously king in that type of hole against the
level opponent like.
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
Those no but give it. You know, all the credits
to Chillicothe. They came back, they didn't give in, and
that's something that you can take from this game and
move forward. You're not going to play very many teams
with the capability of what New Albany was, and you
came out and played with them for the last three
quarters of this game. So that's a that's a plus
for Chillicothe. You know, normally at this stage of the year,
(01:26:42):
you're like, Okay, we're gonna have to play these teams
when we go up to the tournament in Division One.
They're no longer in that tournament. So it's going to
be a different thing here for Chillicothe, and they're playing
better here late in the year. No teams. I mean,
you go ask Jackson, you go ask Miami Trace. They
don't want to play this Chillcothy team. And I think
I guarantee you going out of this gym tonight, New
(01:27:03):
Albany is like, we definitely don't want to see a
team like that because they showed that they can play
physical basketball. They played right with New Albany. I guarantee
you New Albany teams walking out of here a little sore.
Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
Well, I know, the one thing on the radio we
just almost don't do justice is just getting people to
understand the size and athleticism of tonight's opponent, you know,
six two six four six three six four. Even off
the bench they brought six five you know, I mean,
and you're talking about very athletic, versatile size. So again,
as you take us through the numbers, there's some things
that jump out at you, maybe some individual scoring well.
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
When you look at the overall numbers, Chillicothe was fifteen
of thirty seven shooting forty one percent, and that was
after starting one of eight. So again, much better job
there at Chillicothey. There were only two of eleven from
the three point land. Again, some of the three point
shooters you're talking about hamm and stone King, they just
really couldn't get anything going tonight because of that defensive pressure.
(01:27:58):
I thought Caden Cox did a wonderful job attacking the bucket.
Most of his twelve points came from going to the bucket,
I thought he and I thought also, I believe where
am I going to Carton Liggins did a great job
off the bench of showing that explosiveness to the bucket
and that helped out as well. You look at New Albany,
they were eighteen and forty two shooting forty three percent,
(01:28:20):
six of seventeen from beyond the arc thirty five percent.
They were two of six from the free throw line. Again,
you talk about how physical this game was, only six
free throws shot and they were all shot by New Albany.
Chill Cothy gets no free throws, and I and when
hopefully Coach Beer comes on and I'm gonna ask him
how many free throws you shoot tonight, and he's probably
going to wonder, like, well, you know, probably a couple. No,
(01:28:42):
you didn't shoot any. Uh So, again, I like the
way Chillicothy played tonight. I like the way they battled.
I like the way they never gave in. And we
talked about the size. New Albany had a size advantage.
You couldn't really tell out there. Chili Coothy played well
with him.
Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
Well, Shila Cothy's kind of you know, they've gone through
some some roster change and some different things like that
from early in the year, and Hammon and Badger have
really stepped up. And what they've done is they've they
they play a lot bigger than they are on the
defensive end, but then that versatility on the offensive end
kind of becomes a match up issue. For the opponent.
(01:29:20):
And uh, I'd be interested to get your take just
from a basketball set of eyes there in terms of
they've really become a nice versatile team that that would
be really really hard to match up with on most nights,
especially here in the Southeast District.
Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
Oh without that, I mean you look at you know,
as your fifth player who you're going to guard? Uh
out there on the floor. Now, you know, obviously when
Netter comes in the game, obviously that's where he goes.
But you know, are you gonna have your fifth guy
card maybe a cam Badger. Is he gonna guard a
Cayden Cox It? So that man you're telling Kayden take
him to the whole Uh. And even that fourth and
(01:29:55):
even the third guy who you're gonna guard, you're gonna
guard a tall guard out there, maybe a hamm and
or a stone king who can really shoot it from
the outside. So match up problem like crazy, does Chillicothi
possess Again, some of the teams are going to be
playing in the tournament. That's why teams aren't going to
want to see Chilicota well.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
And Chilicothe's really shot the ball well over this three
game winning streak. Tonight you know shot it well at times,
obviously with your numbers. Tell the story there a little bit,
but I thought the size of new all but he
had a lot to do with that. You're looking ahead
the schedule coming up. It's our goal to get them
all on the radio. Two. You will post something if
for some reason something changes. But again the goal was
(01:30:34):
of Monday night the makeup game with Western Brown, Wednesday
night the makeup game with Central Crossing. Remember Central Crossing
had all of the sickness there last week, so the
Cavs worked with them to get that rescheduled Friday night.
Here at home. You will get fac action back with
McLean and then that following Tuesday. I believe you're with
me on that one right at the Logan ELMM game. Yes,
(01:30:56):
and we'll see Logan ELM here. So the home stand
it continues. It felt like Greg and I jokes, felt
like we were on the on the road the entire
first month of the year, finally getting a chance to
play at home. And that's shown up a little bit
for our New Albany fans listening. Still, they play Central
Crossing next Friday night, and they play Thirdgood Marshall on
(01:31:16):
Saturday again. As they were fourteen and three. Now the
Coves dropped to seven and nine.
Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
Yeah, I'll go through the individual scoring real quick for
everyone here. Late leading scorer tonight was New Albany's Miles Jackson.
He had twenty one Marco Mattuschi had fourteen, five points
for Caden Kissinger and two points each for Grady Bush
and Jake Joe Henson. For the Cavaliers, the ever led
tonight by Kaden Cox with twelve, six points each by
(01:31:45):
Carte Ligan and Jan Miller, and three points each for
Andrew Hammond and Cooper stone King and Cameron Badger with two.
You talked about the schedule there for Tillakyvey all winnable games.
I mean the next four games you look at them,
those are all winnable games for the caval They get
their record back above five hundred and next Friday is
when everything gets put in the computers for the seeding,
(01:32:06):
onto the brackets, and you know that will be a
very positive week here for the Cavaliers. If everything goes well.
Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
Well, no question, I'll tell you what we'll do. We'll
take one more time out, step away. We'll give coach
Beard a chance if he comes out we'll talk to him.
If I'm unable to then then we'll wrap it up there.
So let's take one more time out. You're listening to

Welcome back to Chillicothe High School Shane colmbs lou postage
here on the post game as New Albany wins at
forty six thirty two over the calves. If you joined
us late. It was a tough first quarter for Chilicofe.
They ended up falling down twelve to two, and that
eventually was fifteen to two. But from that point on
Chilcoffee really settled into the game. They got it all
(01:33:57):
the way back. It was twenty two to sixteen. Thought
a big basket came right before the half. Remember Chillicothie
was trying to use some files they weren't able to
and they threw it down low and then Jackson laid
it in at the buzzer. Nonetheless, it was still just
twenty four eight sixteen at the half. Come out in
the second half pretty much back and forth between trying
(01:34:17):
to get at the single digits, going back to eleven
or twelve. Chillicothee ends the quarter well and then cuts
it to thirty five twenty six there in the third quarter,
just unable to get any closer. Really good discipline, I thought,
good ball controlled from the Eagles and again our finals
forty six to thirty two. I'm not sure we're going
(01:34:37):
to get Coach Beard, So Lou, I'll give you a
final word here, kind of one last thought on this
game and maybe moving forward for the Cavs here.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
Well, first of all, it's always good to come back
and do some different types of games. You're we do
a lot of SVC schools. But again, to get a
chance to come in here Chillicothee, I did Chilliktha games
for a few years, and again it's always good to
come back here. The hospitality and they do everything around
here first class.
Speaker 5 (01:35:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:35:05):
But uh, this Chilli Kathy team from day one to
where we saw them game one against aDNA to where
they are now, they have made strides and that's what
you want to see. Uh. The younger players are playing better,
the younger players are getting into their roles, and again,
you know, it's it's a good thing to see positive
things happen here at ChIL Kathy Cavaliers.
Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
Well, it's good to hear you say that because I know,
Greg and I have kind of echoed died over the
last month, you know, with you know, early on it
was kind of a tough situation. But yeah, is the
year has gone. I agree with you completely. I see
young guys growing up. I see a lot of different things,
and and it looks like Coach Beard is coming across.
We'll get a chance to talk to him. But a
great task, coach. Appreciate you taking the time. You hear
(01:35:52):
us okay in there. Yes, I can hear okay again.
Uh uh no.
Speaker 8 (01:35:56):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
After the lost, there a lot you want to talk
to your kids about. But man, I you know, look,
I know you guys going to moral victory things like that.
You know you guys are moving past that. But I
can't say enough for more down fifteen to their early
second quarter. From that point on, I thought you really
went toe to toe with what's probably been Not to
take anything away from a Miami Tracer Jackson or some
of those other teams in the non League are war
(01:36:18):
in my opinion, by far, the best team you've played
this year, And I thought I was impressed with the
way your kids responded.
Speaker 19 (01:36:23):
Yeah, we settled in after that fifteen to two start,
just really wanted to calm the nerves our guys down.
You could see that they weren't really playing the way
we wanted to play, kind of maybe starstruck a little bit,
But when they settled in, I thought we played really
good basketball the last three quarters. We played toe to
toe with them as far as being the best team
(01:36:44):
that we played by far.
Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
You know, when I.
Speaker 20 (01:36:47):
Scheduled this game, I scheduled for two reasons.
Speaker 19 (01:36:49):
I scheduled it so our kids can be battle tested
going into tournament time. But also I wanted to see
that showed these kids how a good team never takes
a possession off. Those guys are constantly cutting hard offensively, defensively,
they're constantly moving. They're bumping you. When you cut the
cutters cut through, they're bumping. Just a physical style of basketball.
(01:37:11):
And I want our kids to be able to see
that because eventually that's where I want our team to get.
To be a physical team. Always in the gaps, anytime
someone cuts through, elbow to the chest, and make them
fill your presence there. And I asked the guys after
the game, I said, how many got bumped some bruises?
They all raised their head, so I said, yeah, I said,
(01:37:31):
that's exactly how you got to play basketball. I said,
it's not dirty, but anytime you cut through their paint
their home, they're gonna.
Speaker 9 (01:37:37):
Let you know.
Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. You We talked
on the air about how the advantage of playing a
team like this is the margin of beyers just not there.
You guys didn't play bad basketball time, but when you
do make the misqueue, especially in the live ball turnover category,
they're going to go to the other end and athletically convert.
And sometimes your athleticism against some of your opponents, you've
(01:37:58):
been able to come back and get away with it.
Tonight they made made you trying to get punished.
Speaker 19 (01:38:02):
Yeah, oh yeah. Value to every possession that we have.
Our game plan coming in the night was we knew
how good they were, we wanted to limit their possessions. Well,
I thought we did a really good job of there
in the second, third and fourth quarter. I thought our
two three zone was pretty active. You know, however, I mean,
that's a good team. Coach Casey's been coaching for years.
He's seen every two three imaginable. He's probably got fifty
(01:38:23):
different two threes on plays that he can just do
act you So I thought we responded well.
Speaker 20 (01:38:28):
I thought we played hard. But just the physicality of
the game I think was the big difference today.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
And I thought I mentioned that as well. You know,
this game was so physical that you know, how many
free throws you think you shot tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
Not very many. Zero.
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
This game only had six total foul shots to night
And how physical was It just blew my mind. But
that's the thing I said that you guys are going
to have to be able to handle the physicality. And
I thought for the most part, your kids did. They're
used to it, yours, as you said, start a little
star instruck tonight, but they came back into it.
Speaker 19 (01:39:03):
Yeah, there's a difference in playing OCC night in and
night out, and not to throw.
Speaker 20 (01:39:08):
The stade to that they see. They see is a
very good We had a very very good league.
Speaker 19 (01:39:13):
But when you start talking about the differences, physicality number one,
I mean there's the big difference.
Speaker 20 (01:39:18):
I mean, I think we're just as talented as most
of those teams in the OCC.
Speaker 19 (01:39:22):
But when those guys are begging each other like that,
not in a night out, there's nothing to do but
to get better. So again, you know, physicality we'll get stronger,
you know, big thing for us in the summer.
Speaker 20 (01:39:34):
We've got a lot of guys coming back.
Speaker 19 (01:39:36):
They felt those bumps and bruises today, so hopefully they'll
remember that as we get in the summer and we
really start to focus on getting that strength.
Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
I haven't seen you since Game one against Adena, where
you are now far and beyond. I mean, it's a
great improvement. That's what you like to see at this
time o year.
Speaker 19 (01:39:53):
Yes, I love to see that. I keep telling the
kids all the time they're down. We've lost a lot
of very very close games where we just haven't found
about how to get over that hump. I keep telling
these guys we're there, We're here, We're here, just a
ball bouncing the one way in our direction or a
shot going in. We're talking about a different basketball season
right now. So you know, the big thing as a
coach is to keep these guys positive, keep grinding, keep grinding,
(01:40:15):
and maybe we can go on a nice.
Speaker 20 (01:40:16):
Little run on the tournament time.
Speaker 3 (01:40:18):
Well, we had mentioned your schedule coming up this week.
You got Monday, Wednesday, Friday, big schedule for you, all
winnable games for you, and tournament con comes out next week,
no longer do you have to go up there to
the Central District. You now got some teams that they
see you and they're like, I don't want to see
Jilly Cothe on our bracket.
Speaker 19 (01:40:35):
Yes, I've been studying that and I had mentioned to
the kids this next week we have Western Brown on Monday,
Central Crossing on Wednesday.
Speaker 20 (01:40:45):
And McLean on Friday. All three tough games. But if
we play, we can win those games.
Speaker 19 (01:40:51):
And that's going to be important for us because if
we win those three games, then we leap frog shared
and we become a four seed and we have a
home tournament game, playoff game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
So a tough week coach in terms of practice with
a young team. I know this time of year you're
playing to cut back a little bit on the on
the floor time, But what kind of channel. That's a
weird week Monday, Wednesday, Friday for boys basketball. Talk to
us about that a little bit, so.
Speaker 19 (01:41:12):
We really don't put anything else in. You know, we
don't get the practice on us. You know, we we
got to come in tomorrow for practice, and tomorrow's practice
after tonight's game, it's just gonna be a walk through
and talk about Western Brown and their tendencies and some
of their offense and plays and how we want to
guard them. We play them Monday, then we come back
on Tuesday and did the same thing for Central Crossing.
(01:41:33):
Then we come back on Thursday and did the same
thing for McLean. So there's no time for us to
be able to work on us and get things better
with us. So this is how you know everything Mother
Nature wasn't good to us. This is how you know
everything fell and we just got to get through it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
Yeah, well, coach, last thing, I'll give you a chance
of really cool night Hall of Fame here, just kind
of maybe a quick comment there on kind of what
that means to Chili Coffee and what it means the
boys basketball program to to kind of get an opportunity
to play on in front of some of those people
coming home.
Speaker 19 (01:42:04):
Yeah, I know a lot of those guys who got
inducted today, and you know, I'm very proud to say
that a lot of those actually everyone who got inducted
deserve to be there. It's great for our guys to
be a part of that. And just understanding how special
it is to be inducted in the Chilicothee Hall of
fame and to be able to play in front of
(01:42:25):
those guys and then put forth the effort they put
forth with special.
Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
I'll standing Lou, anything else for it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:30):
Coach, best luck as you go forward. A pleasure to
watch your team to I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
Thank you, Thank you again, Thank you Coach Beard for
taking some time to come out so well.
Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
Lou.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
I can't thank you enough for doing this with me tonight.
I enjoyed it. Always enjoyed talking basketball with you. And
we've got a chance to see a good game. I
agree completely with what you're you're talking about coming up
in this upcoming week. Great opportunity for Chilicothe to take
this seven and nine record and really go and as
Coach Beard was just explaining to us, really puts some
(01:43:00):
good spot in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
It sure does. And that's where you want to be.
You want your team to get better at this time
of year and give them a good opportunity once you
get into the postseason.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
All right, well, thank you, Nathan back in the studio.
Thank you, Lou. I'm Shane Colmes. Final score for the
final time New Auburny Beach Chilicathe forty six thirty two
