It's time for Chilicothye High School basketball action on the
home of the Caps fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, Adina Health System and Holler Funeral Home.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Friday night basketball inside
the fac. Tonight, your Chilicopy Cavaliers make the short trip
out Route thirty five over the Jackson High School and
I'm Shane Combs alongside Greg Bigham, and we're excited to
bring it to you.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
I appreciate you joining in.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
However, you may be listening fourteen ninety WBX AM of
course ninety two point seven FM, or get us worldwide
on iHeartRadio. And you know, Greg, as I look at
the pregame notes, certainly plenty to play for which I'll
get to in just a second. But first you and
I had to split some of our coverage the first
time these two got together, so I wasn't with you
there at Chilicothy. Obviously sounded like a great game, so
(00:54):
kind of give us an idea what we're looking at
here at the very talent of Jackson group.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Well, they were able to They're not a real tall team.
I think Crabtree comes in a little bit at six to four,
but for the most part they play five or six guys.
But the first game, I thought they were able to
penetrate well. They were able to get to the basket.
Steven Jenkins, a six to two junior, did a good
job getting to the hole. It made a lot of
(01:18):
key three throws at the end of the game and
Jackson won by two points. In that game, Jackson got
up ten or eleven. I think they were leading eight
late in the game. The Cavs made a valiant effort
at the end. I think actually tied it before Jenkins
scored at the end of the game.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
And I'm trying to remember freight.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Those shot what it was that put them up too
And the Calves didn't get a shot off in the
final second, so they.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Came back two point game.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
And you know, when you look at this, you look
first of ball Jackson's fifteen and five, seven and two
in conference play. Look at their scores in conference play.
Three of their games, including the two point win over Chillicothe,
a one point win over Washington Courthouse, and a one
or two point win over McClain. A lot of their
wins have been only by one or two points, but
(02:00):
it says something about him. They've been able to finish
as they did against Jilliacoffee the last time around, winning
by two points, so they're solid. Again, important for the
Cavs to stay out of foul trouble if they can,
don't let Jackson get that penetration to get inside and
get to the Hoho.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well, you mentioned the Friday, January seventeenth match up Jackson
fifty four Chilicoffee fifty two, some night rematch here in
Jackson Jackson.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Seven and two at home.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
This year they've lost to Miami tracon' Zan Trace, two
very good basketball teams. Greg, let me, let me set
the standings, fac And I got a question for you here.
You know, Miami Trace at eight to zero, mathematically, Jackson
at seven to two is still in this because they've
got an opportunity to still tie because Miami Trace has
to play Washington Courthouse at home tonight and then Hillsborough tomorrow.
(02:47):
So mathematically Jackson still a lot. Now take it the
other side for Chili Coffee. ChIL Coffee at five and three,
Washington Courthouse and Hillsborough have three and two wins respectively.
So you do the simple math with what they have
left the play. Chili Coffee's locked.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
In in the three hole no matter what happens this weekend.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
But if Chili Coffee can win both games, they control
their own destiny to tie Jackson at seven and three
into two hole.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
So I say all that to ask you this.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Most coaches will tell you, well, you know, whatever standings,
if you don't win at second, third place, whatever, I'd
rather see our tournament success next week.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Maybe that's true, But this was a team that was
two and eight, and yeah, they see last year.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Am I making too much of a quality step that
this could be for ChIL Coffee tonight?
Speaker 5 (03:29):
I think I think they might be looking even more
at overall.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
Yeah, and they had they were two and eight conference
to play and could possibly wind up seven and three
if they could win back to back games to nine
tomorrow night, both of course on the road. I think they're.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Back to ten and ten.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
You called the game of the night to win against
Logan Elm and I think they'd like to have a
winning season.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
I think that that was one of their goals.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
You know, obviously you want to do a lot, but boy,
if they could win two games, finished twelve and ten
on the season. I think it'd give them a real boost.
They go in the next week to tournament play. You
win that first tournament game, you could wind up with
thirteen wins. And I think overall for a young team
with only one Miller and Cam Batcher, your seniors, I
think overall, twelve or thirteen wins would be as important
(04:14):
as finishing, you know, with with whatever seven wins in
the FAC.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Couldn't agree more.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
While we're coming up on about four thirty to go
here in pregame, we're gonna step away for a minute
time out. When we come back, I'll ask Greg a
question on what makes Jackson one of the tougher teams
to figure out in the Southeast District. Stay with us,
Shane Colmes, Greg Big if you're listening to Chilicothee.

Welcome back to Jackson High School.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Stain Holmes, Greg Bigham Cavaliers on the road this evening
to take on the Ironman here. And you know grade
when you look at Jackson you said in the opening,
they're fifteen and five, seven and two in the fac
really really talented group.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Here. Here's what I think confuses people.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Sometimes they see different matchups and they see high scoring games, they.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
See low scoring games. Yeah, and I've watched.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Their ability to really go toe to toe with some
of the elite clear across the Outheast District and all
of southern Iowa. But as you said, they also sometimes
can play almost even more so conservative to the where
they let other.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Teams maybe not as talent as them, hang around.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I think Chili Coffee's every bit of talent of them,
as the first round matchup tells us. But have you
seen that a little bit with Jackson over the years.
They play a very ball controlled type of offense. I
think that's not to say they can't go up and down,
but they're very comfortable playing slow temper.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
They are, and you look at their football program, it's
been outstanding. So they have a lot of athletes, and
in basketball, of course you don't need as many athletes
forer say, because of the football team. But what I
haven't seen from Jackson over the years is they're not
I don't remember them being more than seven or eight
deep in this year. Maybe they're not even that deep.
(06:45):
But they have five athletes on the floor. And but
when I say athletes is that there's no weak point
to them. So they're gonna play good defense there.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
They played under the.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Coach for a lot of years now, cod Max Morrill,
and I just think they're athletic and that you can't
center on one guy. I can't remember Jackson in the
last several years that you know that has a Guthrie
you know at Miami Trace or someone like that that
you know that's nineteen twenty points a game. I think
they have great balance. They have five six athletes on
(07:18):
the floor. I think it makes it they're able to
play good defense, and I think it makes it hard
to guard them because you never kind.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Of know who Chilli Cofee's a little bit that way.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But I think that's their strength over the last years
that we've had is that, you know, there's seems like
every game I've done at Jackson, Chilcofee at different Jackson
players let them in scoring well.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I think from what I've watched on film, I think
Greg just described that absolutely perfect to the fans, and
again should be a good one here coming up on
the national anthem, We're gonna step away for another time
out and we'll come back tonight with tonight's starting lineups.

Welcome back to Jackson High School, Shane COLMBS great big.
I'm glad to be with you here FAC Friday night
basketball is Chilicopy will have Jackson here this evening, and
then they'll go back on the road tomorrow night for
a makeup game over.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
At McLain High School. Greg and I will split up

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Greg will travel over there McLain to make sure the
cabs are covered there on WBX, and then I will
be out at Paint Valley as the Unioda Shermans. We'll
go and play a makeup game that will determine if
Unioda and Zane Trace will share the SVC crown or
if UNIODA will win it outright. Obviously very capable of
paying Valley team led by two outstanding scorers there and

Free and Robertson should be a good one. Speaking your
WKKJ later this evening the accurate heating, cooling and plumbing

and Sydney as we always do, playing on having about
twelve thirteen coaches a week and been really enjoying that.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
So check us out there. That usually starts around ninety five.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Well, the lights go out here, a little nice festive
event here, so I'll uh, I'll use my my phone
here Greg and be able to still bring the starting lineups.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
First for the Jackson Iron and the lone senior Garrett Leg.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Then four juniors joined Leg and the starting lineup the
six to two Stephen Jenkins, the six to three Charlie Woodard,
the five to eleven point guard Ryan Cements or Simons
Simon Simon, and then the six to two junior Vode Warford,
as we know is a very very talented guard. So
again Leg Gncoln's Wodard signents and wooferd or the Chili
(12:04):
cooth the Cavaliers. We believe looking down there, we've got
our normal starting five here. The senior point guard one
Miller will be joined in the backcourt by sophomore Caden
Cox and junior Cooper stone King, and then on the
front line as always, Andrew Hammond sixty four sophomore, the
Van Badger six three senior. One more time for coach Beer, Miller,
Cox and stone King joined by Hammon.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
And Badger and Greg. When you think back to the
first matchup that you had, I know you highlighted Jenkins
a little bit off the dribble. Is that a matchup
that jumps out? Actually?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Any other matchup do you think we want to really
pay attention to here early tonight?
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Well, body Wolfferd's an athlete. You remember him from football
as as well.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Uh and uh, But I like Jenkins the catch there is,
and you highlighted this amost every game one Miller a
lot of times. Maybe that's our best guy getting to
the bucket Jenkins. But he's six to two so presents
a little tough matchup, but one's used to that. If
I remember right, the last time Cayden Cox who matched
(13:08):
him in height. Actually maybe he's an inch taller at
six three, but he was still able to Cayden is
so tall and Lankey sometimes it's hard for him to
stay in front of his man. I'm interested to see
that matchup. Who takes on the Jenkins for the cabs defensively.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Oh, we're about ready to go here, Chili Coothie back
in the road. Blew.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
It's been a while, I think, Greg, I was thinking
to day, back when you and I had the Wednesday
night yem in Hills where I believe.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
So with the blue unis with.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
The white numeral and the Chilicothy cursive over top of
the number Jackson and the home whites with the red numerals,
it's gonna be Cox and Jenkins.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Excuse me, Woodard, Cox and Woodard. We'll call it the action.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Jackson moving on left to right, with Chilicothe back to
our right to left, balls up and Cox goes up
and backtops at the one Miller and with underwall.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Caden's won almost every tep he really are that doesn't
against the Miami Chase.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Stone King has it on the right wing, goes corner
to Cox. Thought about Badger and the post. Pretty good
denial there by the Jackson. Now Cox has it on
the right wing up top Miller. Miller look to go
one on one against wolferd kicks it right side the
Cox thought about the three. Now stone King has it
up top. He drives hard to the right hand kick
the miller extra pass Cox three ball up, rattles around
(14:29):
and falls good shooters tous for Katon Cox.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
He gets a three pointer to get the scoring started.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Three nothing chilkathi about a forty second possession there.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
For the Cavaliers.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Back comes Simon's and regarded there on ball by one.
Miller comes right side Jenkins noun. Simons has it back.
He'll baseline kick it all the way across the leg.
Leg will try a three too strong badger at chilcafe.
With the rebound out comes stone King caves three nothing
just one minute. Then him and right corner three two
strong run down there by Jenkins. The ironman will.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Look to push chili coffee pretty good and transition defense.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Jenkins tries to spin back mental cut off there by Cox.
Now Simon's will shot fake one Miller in the air.
But now Jackson, as we said in the pregame, go
back to some caation set. Jenkins and the leg will
play a little two man game. Now they'll swing it
right side. It's woof woofard up top leg match up.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
There is leg versus Hammon.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Now up tight there it's Jenkins that's guarded by Cox.
Now the look to see if they can go leg.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
In the post. Hammond was playing behind, but they didn't
throw it in there. And now Wooford on the drive,
gets all the way to the hole and lays it in.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Greg, you're right on right on you there you're talking
about He's just a tough matchup because of his unique
size and athleticism.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Yeah, a little bit quicker than Cam and got the
gutty beat him off the dribble for the lab.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Van Miller brings it back up into the Scrimmagerry Calves
lead it three to two two minutes into this one.
Glad you're with the Shane Coombs, Greg BigGAN Cox there
at the elbow, takes two right hand ribbles, shot up.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
No good out comes Jackson with it. Simons. There's a
diagonal all the way across one.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Of the streaking Wolford. Pretty good effort from Cam badger
Greg to run the floor and get back a.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Knock of the work.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Time to remember the last time they met, because Pat
Beard has used some zone this year if you get
into trouble with penetration, and I think they might have
played a little soon against I know they did against
Miami Trace to try to get help on. Guthrie did
maybe play a little bit. We'll see if they use
any tonight, because Jackson's.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
Predicated on no questions, no question. I can see that already.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
That's a that's a fair point right side there, it's
leg up top Jenkins. Jenkins will back cocks in. He spins,
drops a bounce past the leg. Now baseline kick left corner.
That's Charlie Woodard knocks down the triple, puts Jackson out
to its first lead of the evening at five to three.
(16:54):
That comes one Miller, Miller left point there to Hammon
hamming up top Stone to stone King comes left.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Side, Cocks back up top one Miller.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Miller looks to go one on one, drives hard to
the right hand on Woolford cut off there.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Now they bring it back out. Stone King will retreat.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Now he'll look to go one on one. Tough shot
up on the rim. No good out comes Jackson with it.
Not a very good possession for Chilicothe there the Ironman
come out. Chili coffee transition deep pretty good. That comes
Jenkins left side. That's a deep three there by Simon's
no good. Stone King with the rebound pushes they head
(17:36):
to Miller. Miller penetrates the middle, kicks at the stone King.
He'll try a left point three.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Got it. Nice job by one. Miller setting up his
back court mate Cooper stone King with a three chilicothe
back in front. Six five that comes Simons drops it
there for Woolford.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Woodford calls for the ball stream from Jenkins, but then
rejects it. Drops a bounce past the leg. He'll kick
it right corner to Woodard, who just made one no
good fight for the rebound.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Badger couldn't get it, but he knocked it away to Miller.
Now Badger comes out with it. Bager drives down the middle,
throws it away, but gets it back shot up on
the on the glass. Good Cam.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Badger originally was going to turn it over, but to
his credit, he stayed with it and got two points
out of it.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Cam forced it a little bit, but his hustle got
it back for himself and he made.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
It eight five chili coffee, And just like that, Simon's
comes back downhill drive with a left hand, changes over
to the right hand, laves it in eight seven chilicothee. Now,
now it looked like a transition opportunity for Jackson, but
had a steal. Cocks picked it back off and came in.
(18:49):
Now I hit the pull up jumper. Did they did
they wave it off?
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Greg? I'll be honest, I.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Didn't see they got the ball back and then.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
So did he wave off the Cox jump?
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Well, they put it up there.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Okay, So Caden Cox did knock down the mid range jumper.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
So it's ten to seven Chili cofee three twenty seven,
and it looks like they got stone King away from
the ball on a file. Okay, down low, it's it's
legs shot up, blocked by Bager. Wooford had it momentarily.
Now Biger takes it away. Chili coffee out in the
open court. Bager steps through, changes the left hand. Oh good,
great effort from him, and in the open court running
(19:29):
the floor.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Put back no good, and out comes Jackson with it
ChIL coffee must have tempo.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Bick comes Cox, we'll stop and go, turns flips its
the stone King. Stone King bought about the three. Now
retreats it all the way back out by half court.
Fall down the Bager.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
He takes a mid range jumper.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
No good leg of Jackson with the rebound Chili cooffee
ten seven, two thirty five to go first quarter.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
That comes Woolford.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Woolford leaves it on the left wing there for Jenkins
up top. Simon's thought about the three either trying to
get Woolford down there on the block against one miller
one was playing behind them, but having trouble with the
length of Cocks on ball. I guess they're Gregan not
being able to get.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
It into him.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Yeah, Jackson thought that he had a mismatch one of
their bigger guys against one miller of it. They'll get
it back, and we got a couple of substitutions. Carte
ligging in for the Caps.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Carte Liggan will draw the assignment of Woolford. They go
into Woolford at the elbow, shot up no good ham
and had the inside position, and I think they got
Woolford a little over aggressive on the rebound there, so
give the rebound the Ham and give the foul to Woolford.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
We'll go the other way. Chilicothee ball.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
We're on the other side of the floor, and I
have a feeling coach Beard yell at Carta, don't gamble.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
He yells out a lot and Carte gambled, missed it
and we were fortunately didn't give up an easy shot there.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
One Miller walks it up for the Calves. Calves by
three two point fifteen first quarter. Miller throws it away,
out comes Carol with.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
It, who just checked in.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Now Simon's will she'll pull up from the left elbow.
Simon's with four chilicothe league cut the one ten nine.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
That was almost an unforced turnover there. Shane was just
kind of a lazy pass and turns into two points
for Jackson.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
I agree completely.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Miller drops the bounce pass for him, and now they
want to get Cox down on the block against the
smaller Carroll.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
They get it there, Cox will go to work, kind
of bells him out with the fadeaway jumper row. No
good out comes Woodard.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
You like to see Cox with his height advantage, get
into him a little bit more there that comes Jackson
the other way. Jenkins gets it all the way into
the middle, up and under soft up off.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
The glass shot goes and the file.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
So Jackson now up eleven ten and the old fashioned
three opportunity for Jenkins.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Yeah, Jenkins in transition, nobody picked him up. He's good
enough of getting to the bucket with a guy gardening
let alone. Nobody guards even and went right on.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
D think this will be our first free throw the
night right correct, So Steven Jenkins six to two junior.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Shot up is good.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Twelve to ten Jackson one thirty to go here first quarter,
Van Miller brings it up across the timeline guarded by Carrol.
Miller gives way to Cox won a little curl moved there,
almost a shuffle cut from Hammon.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Not there.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Now Miller has it. Miller goes to the right hand,
shot up. I hink Carrol got a piece of it.
Then the Ligan and Jenkins fighting for the loose ball.
Rebound came down at the same time. They're gonna call
the jump ball in the Arrow's gonna favor Jackson.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Cavs with mister last five shots and they they were
all well contested, you know, I mean, Worley a good
looking other than the rebound shot down inside by Can,
but really tough contested shots and they haven't been able
to connect.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Caves out in a little three quarter one two to two.
Jackson throws over the top, takes a mid range jumper.
Ti Lakathy gets what they want, but they don't rebound
the ball. Now on the putback opportunity, they think Badger
knocked it off of Carol's leg.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
So nice play by Cam. That was gonna be an
easy layup for Jackson. Nice hustle by Cam.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Back comes Leg into the lineup, replacing Woodard again. No
one will go about six feet, but they'll they'll rotate
those six to give each person a little bit of
a breakthrough out.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Miller brings it up.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
We're under one minute to play first quarter, leaves it
there on the right point for him and who plays
off a ball stream from Ligan?
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Al Cox?
Speaker 2 (23:48):
How's it? He'll play off a ball screen from Ligan.
He pulls up from about seventeen feet. No good, Liggan
fighting for the loose ball on the ground. Ball comes loose,
out comes Jenkins and Jackson. I'm gonna look the push.
Woolford has it on the right wing. Thirty seconds to go, Jenkins.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Behind the back.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Now I'll see if Jackson wants to take the final shot.
It looks like that's what the bench is wanting them
to do. So again, Jackson up twelve to ten, eighteen
seconds in counting, and Jackson's going to try to take
the final shot of the quarter. Here leg guys it
on the left wing, drops it up top are two
Simons and Badger.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
With a little bit of a push there.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
I I'm gonna yeah, we got a couple of fouls
to give.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
But that is I believe that is Cam's. But that's
just his first.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Okay, okay, nine seconds and I think that's the third.
We still have one found to give and whether the
coach Beard will have us. It's tough that you only
got six guys to give up too many fouls, but
you can't give up another foul if you want it
needed to here up top.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Simon and Miller gives the foul out top.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Jackson's wonting the NBA continuation for three free throws.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
I don't think they're gonna get up there.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
That's just Miller's first. So twelve ten Jackson six point five.
So still really plenty of time for Jackson to still
take the final shot and get a good look. Here,
Woodard's the inbound man from the side and bound the
leg hands it right back to a streaking Woodard and
he lost it out of bounds. The Cat's are gonna
(25:23):
have two point nine, albeit in the full court, they
are gonna have a chance to maybe get a shot
up here. So two point nine kind of a weird
deep side out of bounds in front of Chilicothee's bench.
They get it in the miller. Miller takes about two
dribbles and let's a three quarter court flying that's just
backboard and rim.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
But no good.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
But when we've arrived at the end of the first quarter,
it's been a pretty solid spot for both teams. Jackson twelve,
Chilicofee ten. You're listening to Chilicothee Boys Basketball in fourteen
ninety WBS.

In this station, welcome back Jackson High School Shan colms
Greg Bigham. We were at the end of the first
quarter with Jackson in front twelve ten Greg at decent
started for Chilicafee. I thought they started taking some tough shots.
Give Jackson's defense and credit. What's the numbers tell you there?
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Not a great shooting quarter for the Caves. They started out,
but again those were all contested shots. You know Kayden
can get up in the air. But again this guy
right Iney's face and Caves were four or fourteen. That's
just twenty eight and a half percent, two out of
four from the three point line. And one of those
three pointers was one three quarter sun So not a
couple three pointers. Jackson is five of thirteen, they're just
(27:03):
one to four from the three point line.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Gonna be CHILLICHOTHI possession to start the second quarter. Here
one Miller high ball screen from Ligan. Miller to the
right hand dribble. Now comes left point to Hammer hamming
off of the left hand dribble. Ligan ball screen rolls
into the post. Now they throw it the ligand in
the post. He draws a double team and loses this
somehow gets it up to Badger and then Badger tries
(27:29):
to spin into the middle.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
And he's going to get called for traveling.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
I got that is the third turnover Jackson with two
turnovers in the early going it so far, it's tough
for the Cavs. They're very athletic, but they're having a
hard time one on one creating their own shot. It's
being contested, so I don't know what they can do.
Maybe a little more two man game to try to
clear out some space so they can get a little
better shot.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
And there was a turnover with Jackson.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Chilli Cothy went back to the three quarter quarter.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
As it got into scrimmage area that tried to drop
a bounce past the left they picked off. There By
it comes Chillicothe Cox into the middle jump hook. Good
got to his strong hand, which is his left hand,
makes good. Cox was seven, now tied at twelve. Jilicothie
stays in the one two to two three quarter court
with car Taker looking up top and Cox just goes
up and snags out of the air out in front
(28:18):
of Ligan. He's filed hard good sportsmanship there from Jenkins,
who gave a hard foul, went and helped him up.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
But all that was was Cox and Ligan being athletic
on a track. Cox just snagging around there.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
And they tried it over his head and you got Jackson.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Coach Morris probably thinking, you know, you know, you got
to know we've played these guys a lot kayten Cox
can jump, you can't tow it over top of his head.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
He just jumped up and snapped it out of the air.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Cart A Ligan will go to the line.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
I think if Ligan would have had a little bit
more time to dabble and he probably went up and
tried to dunk that basketball. He tried to finger roll
it over the top and that's where the foul didn't
allow him to finish.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
He was gonna get found. He was trying to hurry
up and shoot and wasn't able to connect.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
The second free throw is good, so splits the pair,
calves back in front thirteen twelve. They'll remain in this
one two to two, almost half the three quarter court.
Jackson breaks it, comes down in the short corner to leg.
Leg tries to throw the diagonal to the opposite wing
and and car teed leg and knocks it out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
That hustle there from car Tae.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Jackson will keep possessing again another deep side out of
bounds play.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
They'll throw it all the way back down into the
back court.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Simons has it Simons to the left hand, Simons left wing,
the wooford. Chilicothe kind of chased it in trapp there,
said again Chilicothy. Just try and take him out of
rhythm with.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Some different looks here. Now Woodford hides it up top,
guarded by the legging left side leg. Now into the
corner and Simons.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Woodard cuts to the block, gets it there, turn around
and jump or good Charlie Water good looking player.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
He has five to night.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Jackson back in front, fourteen thirteen, Hammon in the left
corner and fought about the three.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Now use the right hand, gets into the midrange.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Takes a twelve foot nice square up jumper Andrew Hammond.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
It's good. That's his first bucket of the night. And
now it's Calves back in front. Fifteen to fourteen. Simon's
across the timeline. Try to get Woodford in the middle.
Ligan picks it all two on two break.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Ligan crosses over shot up on the rim. No good
but a foul and greg I feel like card a
Ligan just in some of the defensive stuff. Coach Beard's
trying to do. Give me a little bit of a spark.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
I mean, how athletic is he. He's just tremendous athlete.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
And we keep talking game by game, how much better
he's gotten with basketball skills. You know, first of the year,
he gets that steal, he maybe takes one dribble and
gets rid of it right at that time, he was
confident to take it to the hoop and he got found.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
First free throw is good. Ligan will get another two
for three on the night from the free throw line.
Second free throw up, no good. So he splits another
pair sixteen fourteen chilicafee in front that comes Woolford. By
time on the crossover, Ligan got a little aggressive, gonna
get called for the foul. Good call, just a common file.
(31:21):
So it's gonna go out on the side of the
Ironman calves by two, five forty seven to go first
hif and Dellen comes to Jenkins guarded by Cox. Jenkins
looks back at the bench. Now they seem to know
what they want Jenkins. They'll try to go one on
one against Cox. Gets some space and goes up over
(31:43):
top again. Tough shot over the sixty three Cocks, but
he knocks it down. Jenkins now with five sixteen sixteen.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Were tight up. That comes Bager.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Bager goes left side, ligging, ligging off a Badger ball
stream gets all the way to the rim.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Lay up too strong, out comes Jenkins.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Jenkins spin move at the free throw line, gets downhill
with the right hand, kicks it out to Woolford. He
turned down the three, now wants to go one on
one against Hammon. Woolford cut off there by.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Hammon knocked out of his hand.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Now gives it out to the right wing, and that's
wood Charlie Woodard dials up a triple nineteen sixteen. Jackson
back in front, four point fifty two to go in
the first half. Back come the Cavaliers. Badger has it
up top down low Kawan Miller, who's returned the lineup Hammond's.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
With a left corner.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Three.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
No good.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
It's one and done right now for Chilicothe out comes Jackson.
Jenkins drops the bounce past the Woodford and he lays
it in. Woodford now with four twenty one sixteen. Jackson
with its biggest lead of the night at five. Coach
Beard thought about the time out one all the time out.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
That's three straight easy shots for Jackson to take a
five point lead after they were behind.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Hammon has it on the left point, goes to the
right hand, pull up jump or no good carte Liggan
working against two Jackson guys. He actually got the rebound,
but was falling down trying to avoid the travel. He
throws it away. Back comes Jackson Woodard behind the back,
gives a Simon. He thought about another deep or he
dialed one of those up earlier. Now leg has it
(33:26):
down low back out, Jenkins swing it right side. Simon's
working against Mill and Miller takes it away. Out comes
Chili Coffee. They had numbers momentarily. Now dump it off
the Hammond lay up two strong hem and gets it
back shot back up and missed it again. Out comes
Jackson with it missed the opportunity for the caves. Here
(33:47):
comes Jackson. Simons to the left hand, dribble ops it
off there, wood jabst up. Now will shoot the three
missed everything. Miller takes it, gives away the cocks. Cocks
now retreats back out and everything will slow down a
little bit.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
The game open shots. Sheane it's rather than force something here.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Cox penetrates, gives way to Badger.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Badger to the drive, lays it up and the thing
touched everything on the rim possible, but didn't go in.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
And now Jackson's going to use the time out and uh,
let's see what they what they do here if they
go the short time out there, Yeah, let's stay here.
You know, the game is kind of going back and forth.
I don't I don't hate all the shots.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Chili Cofee was getting there in the last two minutes,
but they just haven't been able to convert.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
It's a remo Shane. I mean, that's that's what they
Other than you can.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Get high if Cooper, Stone King and are hamm in
particularly sometimes kayten they get they can get high from
the three point line, but you know Caten's more apt
to get that mid range jumper. But for the most
part and the majority of their shots, they're looking for
an opening. They're gonna take it to the hoop. And again,
Jackson's athletic enough that you might beat your man, but
(35:02):
there's good help side and the guy guarding you is
not letting you go completely by.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
There's contested shots.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
You know, Andrew Hammond's probably been inside of three or
four feet for three of his shots not able to
go in.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Cam almost got that to go in.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Uh, he's been and it's they just aren't getting a good,
perfectly clean shot.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
And not able to get it to go in. But
that's what they like to do.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
I can't fault it either, but they just haven't been
able to get it to go in, driving him to
the bucket.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
I get part of that credit to Jackson. They can
test a shot pretty.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Well, no question.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Out of a time, Alt Jackson tried to go a
little quick hitter set to the back door, well defended
by Cox. So Al Jackson will go into their base offense.
Twenty one sixteen, Jackson by five two.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Four first half.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
Wait, I'm scored in a while?
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah, I think CHILICOTHI was up sixteen to fifty fifteen.
The number ride or tied at sixteen. Maybe at least
double ball screen there from Simons comes off. Crabtree's checked
into the game for the ironmand west side. It's the
Wolford no call for Crodtree out top high ball screen.
Wolford to the right hand cut off there by badger
right corner three ball no good woodard rebound there by
(36:08):
Noah Netter, who's checked into the game for Chilicoffee Cox
brings it up, gives.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Way to Miller. Miller out the stone King.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Stone King turned down a three there gives way to
Badger Bager over the stone King.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
See if we can break this dry spell here Shan.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Stone King penetrates one.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Miller left corner three ball no good again one and
done rebound jin Jenkins and Woodard have done a real
nice job on the defensive glass for the Ironman Jackson
by five with the ball Simon's downhill and and one.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Miller I think ended up drawing.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
That he gives a little uh well, I mean I'll
go ahead and give one the benefit of out. Did
you think I was a little bit of a flop
or he ended up selling it?
Speaker 5 (36:54):
The referee bottom he definitely sold it.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Don't know that Jackson's bench agrees with it, but nonetheless
offensive foul on the turning back over to the Cavaliers.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Well, the Calves have missed their last five two point
attempts and their last three three point attempts, so they
are oer for their last eight. We somehow they might
needs to get a bucket here. A long dry spell.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Left pointed stone Chain. He was guarded really tight by Carol.
Carroll got underneath his dribble and ended up taking it away.
They called the file. Carol didn't like the call.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
He certainly was up underneath the dribble, but there was a.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Lot of body contact. The stone King will be the
trigger man on the normal side. Out of bounds, set
All goes in the back court to Miller one thirty
to play first half calves trail by five. Cartelegan has
(37:57):
it up tied through the legs left side stone King.
Stone King drops it in the post and Netter Netdter
pushed off the block a little bit so not really
in a postop opportunity and loses it off the dribble.
Out comes Woodard with it. Woodard right hand dribble pushes
it up to the to the to the wing. Now
it's up top of Woolford. Woolford will go one on
(38:18):
one against stone King. Good help from Carte Liggan there.
Now Woodard has it on the right side, drops it
in the short corner post up opportunity for leg but
leg will just keep the offense moving. Jackson not been
out at all as the clocks that fifty seconds to go.
Wolford drives the left hand shot too strong, but the
(38:38):
Cats can't wrap up the possession. Jackson's gonna get possession
once again. Missed opportunity there for Chilicoth and you get
the ball back thirty five seconds to go. First half,
no count there. Now stone King gets a little closer
and the count will start on the five second. Wolford
just simply backs up. And I don't know that the
officials agree on if there's a five counter not there.
(39:01):
The near side official had one. The Chilicoffee bench was
begging for it. Greg, I don't know that the two
as the ball. Sometimes when the ball moves out of
one area it goes to another responsibility official.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Did you catch that there? I thought that was interesting
ye officiating.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Right the coachy Stafford Chill Kyley was yelling and the
official across the floor and finally made the call, Well,
we need to get one good final shot. We have
him scored in a long long I'm not sure when
the last basketball we scored.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
It's been at least four minutes.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
I think yeah, stone King off a high ball screens
now rescreen from nat or Wow. Stone King lose at
cocks Way outside you're gonna come up short and that's
gonna bring us to the half time. Kind of a
tough second quarter offensively for the Chilicopee Cavaliers and as
a result, they trail at twenty one sixteen with Jackson
out in front of here. At halftime, Shane Holmes and

Welcome back to Jackson High School. Shane Colmbs and Greg
Bigham appreciate you being with us. However you're listening this
evening fourteen ninety wb X on the am side ninety
two point seven FM, or of course worldwide on iHeartRadio.
And you know here at the half Jackson leeds at
twenty one sixteen, Greg, I thought first quarter Jackson, choosing
a chilicoffee on the road, got off to an okay start.
(43:35):
I settled in with decent rhythm, decent effort. Jackson led
at twelve ten at the end of the first quarter.
I haven't thought Chillicothe used a little bit of different
pressure looks at the beginning of the second quarter, and
it was still in good rhythm. But boy, that last
four minutes of the second quarter offensively just shut shut
down on Chilicothy. There my super numbers tell you we
had tenant into the first quarter. Was it ten and
(43:56):
then yeah, right now we're at sixteen.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
Yeah, only six points in the second quarter for the Calves,
and the shooting shows that I got Jackson with seven
turnovers and Shela Cotie with five, so about even there.
But the difference comes from the three point line is
the same Jackson two out of seven from the three
point stripe, Chella coothe two out of seven from the
(44:19):
three point stripe, or two out of four from the
foul line, and they are one for one, so we've
only got one more free throw, so everything even there.
But when you go to the two point shots, the
Calves total are six of twenty four. Wow, that's twenty
five percent shooting, So very poor shooting first half for
the cab but there's particularly in that second quarter, only
(44:42):
shooting twenty five percent. Meanwhile, Jackson nine of twenty, so
they are seven of thirteen from two point range. They've
gotten the bowl down inside pretty well. And that's the
difference in the ballgame. They're shooting forty five percent overall
in the first half. We're shooting twenty five percent. There's
the big difference turnovers, about even free throws, three point shooting,
(45:02):
all that's about even. But the two point shots for
the Cavaliers one two, we've only made four out of
seventeen from two point range, so that's not real good shooting.
And again, part of a Jackson is we like to
drive to the bucket. They're contesting it and we're not
hitting our shots.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
You mentioned in the pregame, Jackson's not a real real
tulty now they're they're they're about a six two six
three six two type of group, but extremely strong. They
do contest, uh and maybe a little bit of that
contact around the rim, playing through it a little bit
bothering Chili coathy.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
I don't I don't hate Chili Coothie shots. Selection.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
You're always going to pick on two or three per half,
but for the most part, uh, yeah, they just they
just got to convert at the rim a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
As you think back, uh through that first half, I'm
trying to be in my mind, I'm trying to remember
if there were any uh, I'm trying to remember hardly
any Chilliicathie shot where we were wide open with maybe
a two foot radius around us when we shot this
the basketball with no one up against us, And I
can't think of a very few and early three point
(46:07):
by It was by Cox, but it bounced around and
went in. Maybe was fairly uncontested. Otherwise, you know everything
Carte inside Hammond's tried to go into the lane, so
is Caden Cox. He was able one time to jump
up and get above his man. But I can't think
of many times where a couple of passes and all
of a sudden the guy was wide open.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
Yeah, I agree. And taking a look at some individual scoring.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
First, for the Chilicothee Cavaliers, Caden Cox leads the way
with seven points. He had one three pointer, Cooper stone
King had a triple for three points, Andrew Hammond two,
Cam Badger two and Carte Ligging two and that's that's
that's all the scoring there at sixteen points. Over on
the Jackson side, they're led by Charlie Woodard, the sixth
(46:53):
to three junior has eight points. He knocked down two triples.
Then it was five for Steven Jenkins, who grey get
a highlight of his play in the first round back
on January seventeenth. In this matchup, so again Jenkins with
five assignments with four, Woolford with four and at equals
twenty one for Jackson.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
Yeah, we talked about it all year.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
Close Close is certainly a backer of fifty four fifty
two lost to Mining Trace fifty four to fifty two
lost to Jackson, And that's the difference in the Cavaliers
looking at an f AC championship possibility this weekend.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
So with that in mind, this is another one of
those tests that we were talking about in the pregiam.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
It's a five point game, it's a winnable game on
the road till Coffee's just got to come out and
get on the attack.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
I agree, yeah, they they got to find that it's
a what is a twenty You're not gonna change your
offense in the twenty first game. I mean, they're gonna
do what they do, but I hope that halftime they're
going to have to do something.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
Shane and I don't have an answer.
Speaker 4 (47:54):
They've got to do something, I believe, other than spread
five guys out in one guy takeoff and try to
you know part of it.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
You have those nights where you're not scoring, and I
don't hate some of the shots.
Speaker 4 (48:04):
I agree with you, but if they can run a
couple of different sets to try to get guys even
it's the three point line or eighteen feet wherever. I'm
hoping they can find some sets to get some guys
with hoping shots rather than taking the ball into the
lane or down under and being contested by a couple
three defenders.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
Well, and I agree completely, and not to get two technical,
but a lot of times what's happening against the team
as well scored as Jackson as the ball gets stuck
on the first side. And what I mean by that is,
you know you enter to the left wing, what stays
on the left side. Jackson's going to be perfect in
their help. You got to get the ball across the
midline there and a little bit to the side and
try to get some driving opportunities. Well, we're coming up

Welcome back to Jackson High School. SHANCOLMBS, Greg Bighem coming
out of the half time break. Here, it's going to
be Jackson basketball. Coach Beard'll run out his five starters Miller, Stone, King, Badger,
Hammond and Cox for Jackson, It's Jenkins leg, Woofford, Woodard
and Simons, so also they're five starters. Simon's crossed, the
(50:17):
timeline goes right wing. That's Woodard. Woodard up top the leg,
little flare screen on the left side defended well there
by chilicoffee, so Jackson will have to pull it back
up tip now Woodard has it, goes left side. Woolford
now gives way to Simon's. Simon's hits a little.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
Curl move there. Jenkins gets it. Jenkins spinning and shot
up on the glass.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Good Stephen Jenkins gets the scoring started here in the
second half twenty three sixteen, Jackson pushes the lead to seven.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
That's their biggest lead to be you.
Speaker 4 (50:48):
I was getting ready to say their biggest lead of
the night. It was nipping tuck till about four minutes
to go in the first half in the cabs and
went stone cold.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
Dropped the bounce, passing the post. The badger kicks a
back out. Now Cox will try a right corner three
and got it.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Certainly did need it.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
Sometimes on nights like tonight, you just get one of
your guys going a little bit and they can spark you.
Maybe that's what that Cayden Cox Thrie w do twenty
three nineteen by comes Jackson Woodford in the middle, shot
up no good good rebound by Andrew Hammond. Chilicoffee with
another opportunity to cut into the twenty three nineteen Jackson
league Miller to.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
The right hand into the short corner. Tough shot and
it comes up short.
Speaker 5 (51:27):
It wasn't probably a shot. We wanted it that fast.
Now comes Jackson with it.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Jenkins spinning into the middle, now spins back on the
reverse pivot. Good help from Andrew Hammond get him the
block shot, but it goes out of bounds. It'll be
Jackson ball underneath its own rim. It's like Simons will
be the inbound guy in a one.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
Four low set out top there. Woolford.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Now Simon steps right back in the same side corner,
knocks it down. Ryan Simon's with a three ball.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
He has seven. On the evening twenty six nineteen, Jackson.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
Miller comes off double ball screen of badger and Hammon
now goes right side. Cocks will try one more three
no good good good box out there from Jenkins, but
the effort of Chilicothe didn't allow him to cry the rebound.
Instead of deflects off the hand. That's going to be
Chilicothee basketball. Good effort there from hamm and and Bager
is always on the offensive lines. Miller in bounds out
(52:31):
the Hammon poked away there by leg So now Chilicothi,
you'll have it on the side instead of underneath.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
One.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
Miller inbounds the badger and sprints back up top and
gets it back. Now Miller off the drive to the
right hand, cradles it through the contact, draws the file.
Let's see if they give him the actor shooting. I
think they got him on the dribble. Yeah, just common foul.
Chilicothe Obi under opportunity, try to get cocks on.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
The seal back. Now they're gonna have to go at
top of.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
The stone King and they throw it away. Out comes
Woodard with it. Jackson has all kinds of numbers. He
drops it to Simons, he returned, passes the woods and
he lays it in. Probably too unselfish if I'd end
up done away, but nonetheless it's a Jackson lay up.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Twenty eight nineteen. Jackson continues to extend the league.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Stone King right side badger, Badger into the middle, falls down,
throws it away.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
They throw it out in the upper court. Simons two
foot stop watches Miller fly.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Ryan Simons thirty nineteen, Jackson in front full time out
on the floor for coach Beard will step away with him.

Speaker 2 (54:58):
You're at Chilicothee high cool Chilicafi will have possession out
of the time out a trail thirty to nineteen.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
Biger has it up top, goes right side stone King.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Stone King tries to penetrate one hand, left hand pass
picked off. Out comes Woolford with it left hand lay up,
no good cart Liggan with the rebound. Now he'll turn
and push inside out dribble, leaves it for Bager Badger
up on the rim, lay up too strong, cart ligging
working hard there gets hit, hit on the loose ball file.
(55:28):
So I think it's gonna be Chili cooffee possession. Good
hustle from Carta.
Speaker 5 (55:32):
But I didn't mark it down the shae.
Speaker 4 (55:34):
But I know we went over four minutes in the
last four minutes of the second quarter, did not score.
We've gone three minutes here and made one to three.
So the Cavs offense is just and now they've hadded
three or four turnovers. So the offense really struggling.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
Stone King gives way to ham and now stone King
has it on the right wing up top Badger Jackson
just does a real good.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Job in the dribble gap and not let him still.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
They know what chella comedy in the You're absolutely correct,

Speaker 2 (56:06):
Carte ligging in the post powers one up, no good,
great hustle from Hammon and Andrew Hammond on a.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
Put back basket.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
He has four cuts to Jackson Lee to nine at
thirty twenty one and Coach Beard's gonna call the one
two to two back out three quarter court.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
That sparked him just a little bit early second quarter.
Jenkins into that.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Mice behind the head pass, kind of wrapped it around
the head, dropped it off for Leg.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Garrett Leg lays it in. That's his first bucket of

Speaker 3 (58:55):
Sorry about the technical difficulties.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
That's a word three pointer for Jackson and they push
the lead out for fifth team by comes knowing net
or on the other end, turn around post move, no
good hamming with a second chance, he'll fight one up
on the rim and he gets filed and we'll go
to the free throw line. So Andrew Hammond with a
pair from the charity stripe and points hard to come
(59:19):
by for chili Ki.
Speaker 4 (59:28):
Nice move there. I couldn't get it to drop a game.
He made a nice move down in sight on the
low post.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
First free throw is good Hamm and now with five
he'll get another one. So thirty six twenty two.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Still two fifty one third quarter, plenty of time, but
the Cove's just got to get it going here.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
Second free throw good.
Speaker 4 (59:52):
Carter Williams into the game, So okay, I think Coach Beard,
he's got no and net or Carter Williams, two JV
players carte, So I think he's expressed himself a little
bit his displeasure the way things are going for the Caps.
Got a lot of different guys in there right now.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
Legs got it on the left side, Jenkins out top Jenkins.
Good pressure there from Williams, now Simonize it out top Jackson.
Not in a hurry at all.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
They're a team that doesn't mind playing a little slower.
Certainly with a double digit lead in the second half,
are going to what are right wing three? Nedder goes
up good two hand rebound and he was hit, so
he's going to get fouled. Give Noah Netter the rebound
and give Chili Coaffee possession at the ball back. You know, Greg,
Coach Beard's also been talking over the last week about how,
(01:00:42):
you know, taking a look at his rotation on this
back to back because they turn around Tuesday and play
in the tournament. And he started to worry about, you know,
a little bit of minutes starting the wall on a
team that's not real, real deep, so that I could
have something to.
Speaker 5 (01:00:56):
Do with the two.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
But I think I have a tendency to agree with you.
I just don't think he likes some of the energies.
Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
Get yeah, I would agree. I think.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
I mean the turnovers are causing the transition buckets, but
even a couple of those we haven't gotten back real quickly.
To try to contest. After turning it over and giving
up Jackson easy layup.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
Carte Liggan has it out top, gives a way to Williams.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Williams goes to Cox.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Liggan on the left wing, tries to penetrate middle cut
off there by Carroll turns and pitches it to one Miller.
Miller forces his way down into the middle, shot up
off the glass and good tough shot. That's Miller's first
basket of the evening. Thirty six twenty five caves trail
by eleven ninety seconds to go. Third quarter back comes Jenkins.
(01:01:45):
Good help from Williams. How Carte Liggan down on the
floor is going to tie him up. Carter Williams will
some good help there in the dribble gap. Carte Lygan
goes down, gets to jump ball, and you go back
to the Cats. So Carter Williams giving some good minute.
Remember Carter Williams came in defensively and that hills bro
(01:02:07):
Win provided some good minutes. Cayden Cox has it on
the right point. Now goes over left point Ligan. Ligan
tries to get into the middle. He does, turn the
corner and lay it down. Car k Liggan explosive off
the dribble, calves back to single Diggit's thirty six twenty seven.
(01:02:27):
Jackson Woolford has it on the left wing. Coach Beard
urging his defense to get up and get a count.
Al Simon's has it all the way out top. Jackson
really spreads it out here fifty four seconds to go,
third quarter, high post its leg leg into a hand
off to Wolford. Woolford drives to the right hand, turns
(01:02:49):
and throws it back Jackson. Not in hurry, are you wonder?
And if they don't get a lay up, if they'll
try to hold all the way down for a shot.
Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
Carrol has it in the corner. There's a trap there.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Now back to Simons, he penetrates, he goes a little
baseline kick.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
It's wooded for three. Carter Williams up for.
Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
A rebound and if he fights for it, he's filed
there by Carroll. So again another hustle play from Carter
Williams and Chili Cothy is going to have another opportunity
to cut into this nine point lead. Here was still
twenty seven seconds to go in the quarter. Yeah, oh,
that's the fifth foul, so Calter.
Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
Well, even though it was down under the Jackson Buckett,
Williams had the rebound foul.
Speaker 5 (01:03:27):
But we'll walk.
Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
I guess we won't walk ninety feet, but sit down
to the other free throw lining. Hey, we empty couple
of free throws. All of a sudden, these young guys
could have come in a ballgame and can get the
Cavs back within seven.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Shot up for the free throw line. No good.
Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
Carter Williams is a six to one sophomore, plays good
JD minutes for the Cavaliers, has had a few minutes
here and there for Coach Beard at the varsity level.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
A lefty second free throw up, that what's good?
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
So Carter Williams into the scoring column for the Cavaliers
thirty six twenty eight, Jackson by eight with the basketball
twenty seconds and counting. In the third quarter, Carol across
the timeline high ball screen there from Woodard, Carol all
the way to the rim. Cox coming over on the
help and I think they're gonna call Cox hitting him
(01:04:23):
on the arm as he tried to get the layup
off the glass shot.
Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
No good, Carol is going to go to the free
throw line and shoot upharels.
Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Then the Calves had three fouls to give, and that
time Kayden just got there. It a little late, got
on the arm when Carol was shooting. So they're going
to give them two free throws. Shacks has only shot
three foul shots and number.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Four first free throw for Carrol's good. That's his first
point of the night. Crabcherry and leg return here. They've
been trying to get at the scores table for quite
some time here at the end of the third quarter
to get I have some a breather, but no stoppage
and actions. That took all the way down to this
eleven second mark. Carol second free throw, no good. Nedder
(01:05:10):
goes up high for a rebound that comes Miller. He's
got to see the clock six five in County high
balls stream from Cox Miller step back right wing three,
No good and that'll bring us to the end of
the third quarter. Jackson thirty seven, Chilicoffee twenty eight.

Welcome back to Jackson High School. Shane coolms Greg Bigham
Here on Friday night action in the fac Chilicoffee ought
to play for this weekend here as they continue to
try to push for that winning season. They enter the
game ten and ten overall, and just offense has been hard.
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
To come by.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Luckily, Chillicothe's defended pretty well to give them a chance
here down the stretch. But I assume the shooting totals
continue to tell a story of Chilicothe just not being
able to score the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
And on there were four of eleven that quarter, one
of three from the three point line, So on the game.
Now I've got them ten of thirty five, so they've
moved above twenty five percent.
Speaker 5 (01:07:00):
Is still not above thirty on the night.
Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
The other thing in that quarter, Shane, I am we
had five turnovers and agency what I have in the
first half, and we had four there in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
First possession of the fourth quarter, Jackson possession. They run
a little quick hitter and get Steven Jenkins downhill. He
scores the basket and gets the foul. Gonna be an
old fashioned three opportunity, and I pushes the.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
Lead back up to eleven. This freezo can make it twelve,
and it's good.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
So Steven Jenkins enters double figures on the evening with
hen and just like that, Jackson now leads by twelve.
Speaker 5 (01:07:36):
You know, they're almost shooting fifty percent.
Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
Part of that is in that third quarter they had
that where we had three or four turnovers, they had
three or four easy transition baskets.
Speaker 5 (01:07:44):
That'll bring your shooting Percentageoe will.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
Leave action for Chilicopy again.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Jackson just so good on their dribbled drive defense, not
letting that ball into the middle, back to Miller, Miller
up top. He gets downhill to the right hand, cut
off everyby leg, back out the cock.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Cox he'll try to pull up. Played about seventeen footter.
Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
No good Badger with an offensive rebound shot back up
off the glass, and good cam Badger. You know that's
the thing, too grade. Sometimes you get a shot up
on the glass and let Badger and him and go.
Sometimes I can get your offense going.
Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
One, two, two, three quarter court. Jackson throws it over
the top.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Badger almost had to steal now Woolford down low and
he just mustles his way up. That's a great example
of what you were saying earlier. Only six to two,
but he plays so much bigger because of his strength.
Forty two thirty tis trail by twelve five dro into
the middle jump hook too short, out comes Jackson with it.
(01:08:40):
Throw it over the top and Simons plays it in
Chilikathee unable to.
Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
Get back and yeah, it was too easy. Shame.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Jackson is threatening to blow this thing wide open. Forty
four to thirty six and.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
A half to go. Cox up top. Cox pitches the miller.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Miller sixteen foot or no good rebound leg of Jackson
out the Simons. Jackson gonna go ahead and push here
Simons to the left hand all.
Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
The way back out. He tried to throw it back
out the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Water, and he's gonna throw it all the way back
down course, and by the time that goes out of bunds,
that's going to be a turnover back to Chilicothee could
tell there if he just got caught in the middle
of wanting to attack and then he realized they were
up fourteen and coach wants me to pull this back
out and he realized they're too late.
Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
Yeah, I mean, things have been tough for the Cavs.
With their body language right now there, they're just not
real good. They look a little of the third part
of that's being down fourteen, and they know they haven't
been able. Sometimes you don't shoot well and you can't
get it to go in. You lose your little bizazz
and they're really forcing some shots.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Now, Cocks a little one leg fade away there from
thirteen no good. Simon's bringing up the right side's going
to be fouled by Badger. So forty four point thirty
Jackson five point fifty nine to play in the game.
That's Badger's third foul. Team second here in the fourth quarter,
(01:10:08):
ball thrown into the back court there by Jenkins. Jenkins
left corner. Simons try to go baseline and fell down
with it, and Jackson's gonna get credited for a time
out to save possession.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Thirty seconds. Let's stay here and kill Greg. Obviously, five
fifty to go.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
It's not over, but at the same time, you just
win or lose. I would think going into tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
If you coach Beard just I think you'd be looking
just for a little fight in your two good.
Speaker 5 (01:10:39):
It's only one game, but you know, we talked about
finishing the season strong.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
We'd be getting to win. It was gonna be tough
tonight if they don't play any better tomorrow night. And
I gotta give Jackson part of the credit. They're just
contesting every shot, but the Cavs don't have seem to
have a lot of energy right now. They're down fourteen,
and I don't think that the I mean, I win
them a claim tomorrow night. And you didn't hate to
go into the tournament next Tuesday on a couple of
(01:11:03):
poor performances.
Speaker 5 (01:11:04):
But we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
Maybe they can finish strong here. But tomorrow night's a
new night. Sometimes if you don't play well, maybe it's
nice to play in twenty four hours tomorrow night. But yeah,
right now, they're down fourteen. This whole about midway in
the second quarter, it's been pretty much all Jackson.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Give them credit, and again I want to make sure
we're painting a fair picture. Jackson's fifteen and five. On
the way to sixteen and five. They whooped a good
Union other team they lost at the Buzzer to and
undefeated Miami Tracy.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
This is a really, really good basketball teams playing on
the home court.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Here to seven, there's some good effort for Carte Legan's
probably at Chilicopy Cavalier that jumps out at me in
terms of high energy to see me. But Jackson throws
it out of the trap, hits Wofford, he drives down
to the right hand, gets it up off the glass
and good forty six point thirty Jackson by sixteen.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
They made their last five two point shots in a row,
but they all been pretty easy shots.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
Badger mid range at the free throw line, comes up short,
offensive rebound there for the Calves.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Now Stone King, how's it out?
Speaker 2 (01:12:06):
Top leaves it for Cox. Cox over to Badger. Badger
drives to the right hand, shot up on the glasses.
Good dam Badger.
Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
Got a time out here on the floor forty six
thirty two. Let's see here, we're going to go short
time out, so we'll stay here. Forty six thirty two.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Calves back within fourteen five minutes ago here, and let's
see if the Calves decide to extend.
Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
The floor here a little bit down fourteen And of
course we'll talking about tomorrow night. I'll be over in
Greenfield for the final regular season game match up with
the Calves and the Clean. And we had that game
earlier where the Calves were up by what sixteen seventeen
and McLean got it within three or four, so and
McClean should be full strength tomorrow night.
Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
Didn't have one of their starters.
Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
That's our other night. So it'll be a tough matchup
tomorrow night. You've got the SVC game over Valley.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Yeah, it should be, should be a good one. There
a lot to play for there.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Kant Valley going to try to play the role of
spoiler as Uniota's rack up a share with Zane Trace.
The Unioda win tomorrow night would be an outright title.
A Paint Valley win tomorrow night, then Uniota end Zane
Trace would share the title. It'll be over on WKKJ.
Speaking of WKKJ, remember the accurate heating and cooling and
plumbing scoreboard show about nine to forty five over on WKKJ.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
The steaming. I'll be heading back out of the time out.
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
Jackson has possession, Chilicothe does extend before a little bit
of trap steal by the ligging ligging out into the
open court. Lost it momentarily, now does get it back,
gives it back to Cox.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
Cox into the mid range game.
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
The little float a good Cayden Cox his first basket
of the fourth quarter, taves now within twelve forty six
thirty four taves back in the three quarter, Cord Jackson
throws it up over the top, drops a bounce past
the Woolford shot up on the rim.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
No good, Wolford gets it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
Back, shot back up and good broady Wilford six here
in the quarter. Now, all of a sudden he's into
double figures with eleven. ChIL Coffee turns it over. Now
comes Jackson with it to no look past to the
streaking Woolford and Wofford hit.
Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
Hard by Badger. No call. I think they're just gonna
call it out of bounds.
Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
It looked like he lost control of the basketball, and
then after he lost control, he and Cam collided. But yeah,
I think it could be a good note call, just
to ward it to the Ironman out of bounds under
their own bucket.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Woodard comes off a double screen. Now Woodford hies it
up top. Wolford drives hard to the right hand, foul
on the drive. I think it's the way it was
called there, pointing to the floor. So I'll be Badger's
fourth file on camp. Another obi under opportunity for Jackson.
(01:14:52):
Woodard off that same screen, going the opposite way, and
this time he dials up for three all five.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Chilicoffee caught going under the screen. Woodard come off. It's
a free look at it. My three ball makes it.
Fifty one thirty four.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Stone King will try three of his own and he
knocks it down. Stone King's made both. There's three ball
attempts and then he just hasn't been able to get
free to get them off.
Speaker 5 (01:15:11):
Yeah, a long time in between.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
Yeah, fifty one thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Simon's trying to force it up the right sideline and
they're going to say stone King did not have his
foot on.
Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
The sideline and called the blocking. The fact.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
Letter will replace Badger in the Chilicothee lineup. Looks like
Crabtree and Carol both in the lineup for Jackson. So
Jackson currently has Wooded Carol, Crabtree, Jenkins, and Simon's Chilicoffee
has Liggings, stone King, Cocks Miller and metal high trap
(01:15:51):
there from chilicothe Jackson spreads the cord here, now goes
right corner, Crabtree dumps it down.
Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Load of Jenkins. Miller is gonna get called with a
push from behind. It will also be on the floor.
But is that in Chili Coopi's fifth of the quarter,
it is.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Two Stephen Jenkins, the six ' two junior, going to
go to the free throw line, trying to add to
a fourteen point Jackson.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Advantage first free throw.
Speaker 16 (01:16:23):
Good.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Let's see here, Jenkins, I have also in double figures
and I balanced scoring for Jackson.
Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
Jenkins will get another second free throw also good. Jenkins
are perfect four for four on the evening from the
free throw line.
Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
Twelve points on the evening, fifty three thirty seven, Ironman
by sixteen, three point thirty to go into ballgame. Cayden
Cox brings it up for the Cavaliers right side dribble
hand off the stone King up top.
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
It's hard to Ligan.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Ligan gives way to Cox, gives the stone King on
the way side. He'll dial up another three and he's
got it. Cooper stone King. That's his third triple of
the night. Calves back to thirteen at fifty three to
forty time out on the floor, and again looks like
a short one as they as they're standing up, Greg
(01:17:23):
at little better offensively in terms of some rhythm. Got
stone King loose there on the three point line a
couple of times. That's a good sign because a lot
of times, even the way this silly game works, even
if it's not for tonight, maybe Act dumps something for tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
I would agree.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
I think that into the first half and most of
the third quarter is bad tation in your mouth. Things
didn't go well, turnovers, couldn't score Jackson with some lot
of easy transition buckets. But yeah, you score here at
the end of a little bitter job as some of
these younger guys have gotten some more playing time, and yeah,
(01:17:57):
maybe you're right.
Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
That can carry over to tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
Hopefully it will because they're going to They're back to
them thirteen, but only three minutes plus to go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
Push it out this time, this looks more and more
like a one to three one than the earlier and
that's the one two to two formation. They were just
matching up out of it a little bit. Simon size
it up top, give his way to Woodard. They got
Chilicopy chasing a little bit here on the trap to
hit Carol high post, drop it off the crab tree
and it's the Layoup. I think uh Noah Netter changed
that shot a little bit there. The crabtree missed opportunity.
(01:18:28):
It's going to go back over to the cavaliers. Fifty
three point thirty calves trailed by thirteen or under three
minutes to plug one Miller brings it up with the
right hand dribble. Now it's Carte ligging hands it off
the cocks. Calve's got to go a little bit here.
Cox tries hard to the left hand, shot up off
the glass.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
No good, right for the loose ball. I think we're
going to get Netter over the top on the fire.
Speaker 5 (01:18:56):
Yeah, Kit and could have got that one to go
in off the glass.
Speaker 4 (01:18:58):
A nice movement gets it down to eleven, and Jackson
might have started thinking, you know what, the last time
we played these guys, we were up nine or ten
and they got it.
Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
Even go only lost only one by two.
Speaker 4 (01:19:10):
So although Jackson dide a nice job handling the pressure,
they got the ball underneath for a layup last time,
just didn't connect.
Speaker 5 (01:19:16):
Now they go to the free throw line again.
Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
So I have the free throw line. This is Charlie Woodard.
He's working on a nice evening.
Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
There's six of eight from the foul line tonight as
a team.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
First free throw good. But officially I got Charlie Woodard
with seventeen. Does the scoreboard agree with me up there? Yeah?
Seventeen for Charlie wood Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:19:42):
They got three guys and.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Yeah I got four guys I.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Got Jenkins, watered Signons and Wolford probably in double figures.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
Second free throw, good.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
Back come the Cavaliers two forty to play Jackson by
fifteenfty five forty stone King hard on the drive, shot
up in good, good hard drive for stone King. He
has eight and the fourth quarter eleven in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Fifty five forty two.
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Wolford breaks the ten count dumps it off there to
Simon's stone King chasing a little bit, trying to get
a trap. Jackson without standing four spacing, just going to
share the ball. Carol and Woodard with a two guard
high front, and then they just simply space and they pass,
move and it's it's really well done. Jackson's going to
(01:20:33):
use a time out here. It's a full time out.
We'll step away with them. Jackson fifty five Chilicoffee forty two.

Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
I'll be joining Vanessa and Sydney as always.
Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
I think we're lined up to have twelve to thirteen
coaches talking into regular season and in the tournament.
Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Times, so it should be exciting. Out of the time
out Jackson Basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
They're up thirteen. As the clock ticks under two minutes.
They hit a cutting Wolford who gets a.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Shot up on the rim.
Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
No good hamming with the rebound out comes the Ligans
with him. Liggan into the open court, splits the double team,
and I think he's going to be tripped. So that's
just Jackson's first file the fourth quarter, so it'll just
be an obi under opportunity for ligging and the Cavaliers have.
Speaker 5 (01:22:29):
You joined us lead?
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
We got on early tonight, so you're wondering, it's not
even eight to thirty. Now we're only we're under two
minutes left in this ballgame. So got off early tonight.
By the way to shock out the jvs did get
a win in the JV game tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:22:43):
All the way out top to Cartelegan. You have the
Cavalier freshman team ended up falling the night JV and
winners hit and out three ball there from stone Cam
rebound Jackson, Cavaliers or a track to get a back.
Stone King's going to try another three. That one's short
hamm and fighting for the loose ball, and he's to
be called for a foul, and I think that's going
(01:23:04):
to put I didn't see the Knight. Think Woodard as
they walk all the way down to the other end
is going to be the shooter at the free throw
line as he continues to work on his big night.
Good look for stone King there both times he's been
the hot hend.
Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
Here in the fourth quarter. He has eight of his
eleven points here in the fourth quarter. I think Cayden
Cox leads Chili Coough in scoring.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
First free throw Jackson's missed in a while. They were
eight of ten shooting eighty.
Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
Percent before that miss, so it's been well done. Well,
it's a free throw line tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:23:43):
Second free throw is good Wood now at nineteen oh
excuse me, that was Jenkins.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
This is what they said to him. I apologize. Miller
on the step through, gets all the way to the rim,
lays it in. Jan Miller time out. Chilicothe on the floor.
See if they go shorter long here they are going
to go.
Speaker 5 (01:24:06):
I think they've only got fulls left.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
We'll step away for a thirty second time out.

Welcome back to Jackson High School.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
Shank Holmes, Greig Big I'm one twenty three to play
in the game. Jackson leads chilicothee fifty six forty four
coming out of the time out here. See what the
Chili cooffee has in mind. They still they still have
most of the main guys out there. Ham and Badger,
Miller ligging.
Speaker 5 (01:25:10):
And Stone can.
Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
Looks like they're gonna pick.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
Up a little bit more in the man full court
situation and down goes to Woolford, Wofford, up to Woodard,
hits Simon streaking down the middle.
Speaker 3 (01:25:24):
Now the point guard splits. The double team tried to
ripe a.
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
Bounce passed into Wolford mile Jackson just gonna play keep
away Woodard all the way out top coach Beard asking
him for the trap. But again the spacing's so good
in the quickness of Jackson, just making it hard to
do Simon's dribbles into the corner back out Woolford poked
away there by Badger and I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
I think they're gonna have a file. The fist went
up and if that's on Badger, I think that's his fifth.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
He's gonna be finished for the evening. Cam Badger isn't
all we sent? Certainly played hard. I'm his effort was
there tonight, just having trouble finding his offensive rhythm.
Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
The whole group think you wind up with six points
on the night, and sophomore noh Netter will get it
back in the ballgame.
Speaker 2 (01:26:14):
Bdie Woolford for the free throw line. Hen free throw
up and good Woolford now was seven in the fourth quarter,
twelve in the game. Another ironman and double figures. I
see four of them now Wofford's second free throw good.
(01:26:38):
Jackson Austin also.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
Has been outstanding for the free throw line to night.
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Left side, that's Hamm and he'll try a three too
strong Stone team with the rebound jump stop into the
middle and as he comes to the two foot stop,
Jackson's going to be called for the whole obie under opportunity.
I was just Jackson's second team foul. They got Woolford
on that foul. That's his third individual foul. Cartep Liggan
(01:27:07):
streaking to the backside block. They tried to drop him
a bounce pass. Wood knocked it away, so we'll do
it again underneath. Now they throw it in ball side
there the ligging Liggan bakes the handoff, tried to go
baseline and he lost it. Let's see if it was
poked away from him or believe it.
Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
It's always going to get it to get under their
own bucket down the forty one seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
Drops it in bounds there. That's knowing Netter shot up
on the rim. No good.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
Now comes Jackson with a fifty eight forty four thirty
seconds in County. They drop a bounce pass and Woodard
lays it in Charlie. Woodard finishes off the twenty point
night is Jackson's gonna use the time out, I think
just to get his subs in the game. Well that
(01:28:04):
what they're gonna do there, gregis they're going to get
the senior then seen that I remember.
Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
Garrett Legg, So they're gonna they're gonna kind.
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
Of give him his moment individually coming off by himself
there as they set in for him, now they'll now
they'll go and uh get the rest of him in
a little bit more of a collective manner. We'll try
to get some Jackson kids on the on the raid.
I see Crabtree who's played a little bit tonight, Carol
who's played a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
Yeah, Reed Miller is sophomore or into the lineup Dalton
Kite other sophomore.
Speaker 10 (01:28:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
You know what's crazy about this team? Leg the only senior.
They returned Jenkins, Wooter, Simon's, Woolford, Carrol and Crabtree next year.
So I mean this this is just getting started here
for for the Iron.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
And if you're Jackson, you might be thinking, you know what,
I hope Guthrie goes to college early after the first semester, right.
Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
I hear that, you're probabe, a'll roll. They might become
his biggest football fan. Stone King up top, he dials.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
Up another triple Cooper stone King having a big fourth
quarter sixty forty seven. Now get another sub in there,
ten seconds to go, just gonna walk it up. Usually
in these situations you won't see a shot. They'll break
(01:29:27):
the ten second count and then they'll just dribble. Miller
and stone King will there stand beside and let it
go out, and that's the final horn. Jackson defeats Chili
Cooffee this sevening sixty to forty seven. Stay with us

Welcome back to Jackson High School, Shank Holmes Great bigem.
The Cavs come up on the wrong side of a
sixty forty seven final against the very very Jackson Ironman
and a team Jackson will improve to sixteen and five overall,
eight and two in the conference. As we said, mathematically
still alive depending on what happens with the Miami Trace
(01:33:13):
and Washington Courthouse. What Jackson would need now Jackson is
going to finish league play at eight and two. What
they would need is Miami Trace to fall tonight to
Washington Courthouse and then they would need them to fall
again to Hillsborough Tomorrow Knight in order to share the
FAC title. So what that also does is secure as
at least second place outright for Jackson. Chilicothe's thought an
(01:33:36):
opportunity for that, but the loss to Night will fall
to five and four eleven and ten overall, So regardless
of what happens Tomorrow Night, mathematically, ChIL Coffee will be
the outright third place team in the FAC. I think
we would certainly agree that at ten and eleven Tomorrow
Night would still be a really really big game for
(01:33:57):
the Calves to get back to eleven eleven overall, have
a winning season in the FAC at six and four,
a chance to sweep another opponent and see if they
can get ready to go into tournament time.
Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
Tonight just wasn't there night.
Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
Jackson's an outstanding team, and if I looked quarter by quarter,
as Greg's just finishing up his totals there, Chillicothe was
down just two at the end of the first quarter.
Jackson led at twelve to ten, six points as all
Chili Coopy could get on the board offensively in the
second quarter, and as a result, they trailed by five
twenty one sixteen when the teams went to the locker room.
(01:34:30):
Third quarter was a little bit more of Jackson. They
opened up a thirty seven twenty eight advantage, and then
in the fourth quarter they grab to spread the floor.
Chillicothe was forced to extend a little bit trap and
gamble a little bit ironton very well, excuse me, Jackson
very well scored in's facing the court, sharing the ball,
(01:34:50):
and they go on to win at sixty forty seven.
Pretty efficient nights. What it felt like Greg on the
Jackson side do the numbers support that.
Speaker 4 (01:34:58):
They did have eleven turnover a huge amount for Jackson.
I and Chilla Kathie with ten turnovers, so that was
pretty even. But yeah, Jackson, they shot over fifty percent
in the first quarter, wound up just under fifty at halftime,
shot fifty percent in the third quarter, and they wound up.
I had them winding up and they had a lot
of close in especially laid against the pressure.
Speaker 5 (01:35:19):
They got quite a few layups.
Speaker 4 (01:35:21):
So I had them being very efficient twenty four forty one,
fifty seven percent from the floor. They were five out
of twelve from the three point line, which is excellent,
and they made eleven of fourteen foul shots. That's seventy
eight and a half percent. So Jackson shot the ball
really really well tonight. And that's it will be evident
when Shane gives you the individual where they have I
think four guys in double figures, Chilla Cofee's I told
(01:35:43):
you I had them for ten turnovers. They were only
twenty five percent shooting the first half. Stone King helped
them out there in the second half. Cooper made quite
a few shots. They brought their percentage back up on
the night to eighteen and fifty three that's thirty four percent.
So they did have a better or second half shooting
the ball from the three point line, mostly thanks to Cooper.
(01:36:05):
They were six of fifteen that's forty percent, and they
were five of eight from the free throw line. On
the night, they shot the ball fifty three times. I
only had Jackson shooting forty two times, so quite a
few more shots. But Jackson was much more efficient on
the night. As we said, the Calves, let me see here,
(01:36:26):
twenty four twenty six, twenty shot the ball the second
half about twenty nine times, made twelve, so their percentage
was better in the second half. And again six out
of fifteen from the three point line. And as I
think back, I think Cooper probably had what maybe four
those threes.
Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
Tonight at least yes, four yep.
Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
So the Calves go to ten and eleven, and it
wasn't a great game.
Speaker 4 (01:36:49):
I give them credit. They didn't quit. They fought it
til the end, no doubt about that. But they got
down double figures that last four minutes of the first half.
Things went very poor form and they were down had
only scored sixteen points at halftime and never really never
really threatened the one time I think we might have
got it back to eight or nine, but for the
(01:37:10):
most part Jackson controlled this one pretty much start to finish.
Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
Well, you look into the individual scoring column.
Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
First, for Georg Chilicothee Cavaliers, they were led tonight by
Cooper stone King. As Greg said, he had four to
three pointers on his way to fourteen points. Cayden Cox
hit two more of those threes. He's finished with twelve.
Those are the only two Calves in double figures. Six
for Badger, six for hamm and four for car Te Liggan,
(01:37:37):
four for one Miller and one for Carter Williams. Add
that all up, you get your forty seven. Over On
the Jackson side, they had nice balance. Four guys in
double figures, Charlie Woodard with twenty, a, Vodie Wofford with thirteen,
Stephen Jenkins with thirteen, Ryan Assignments with eleven, and then
it was two for Garrett leg the only senior on
(01:37:58):
the roster, playing in the his senior night here at Jackson,
and then one free throw at it in by Jackson Carrol.
That all up and you get your winning.
Speaker 3 (01:38:07):
Total of sixty. Well.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):

tonight's Friday night fac matchup with Chilicothy and Iron in
the Jacks And why do I keep on to say
the iron as the iron Man the Jackson sixty Chilicothe
forty seven. I'm not sure we're going to get a
chance to talk to Coach Beard the night, So Greg,
before will we check out of here, let me let
(01:41:02):
me ask you to give me a comment on putting
this one to the side, getting a better taste in
your mouth tomorrow night, and getting.
Speaker 4 (01:41:08):
Ready for tournament next week. I think you get the
nail right on the head. You know, it actually could.
At one time it looked like this might be a
complete blow up. Caps kept it around, but never could
get back into the ten point mark, and it wasn't
one of the better performances from the stats from the
things that went on, but they played hard, and I
agree with you. I think you know tomorrow night they
(01:41:32):
got to turn around, they got to get off to
a good start and get going on the road again
at McClean. And I think that's important tomorrow night to
get this taste out of your mouth as you just said,
to carry on to the tournament next week.
Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
I couldn't agree more.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
And what we will do, Chilicothee fans is I will
give Coach Beard a message letting him know that if
he wants to call ed to a scoreboard show later
this evening about nine five check over on WKKJ are
acor Heating, Cooling and Plumbing scoreboard show. That's where I'll
be heading out to join Vanessa and Sydney and we'll
try to get a word from Coach Beard, and then
Greg will have the Calves back on tomorrow night and
(01:42:07):
try to get them back to the five hundred mark
as they look for that eleventh win. I'll be over
at Paint Valley on WKKJ with the uniona Paint Valley game.
So on that note, Nathan, thank you so much for
your efforts back in studio. Greg, always a pleasure. This
is Shane Colmbs's final score for the final time. Jackson
beats Chilicoti sixty to forty seven, so along everyone
