Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for Chilicothee High School basketball action on the
home of the Caps fourteen ninety wb e X powered
by Where Funeral Home, a Dina Health System and Holler
Funeral Home.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good evening, everyone, and welcome inside the LSB Hatt Memorial
Gymnasium here at chilicothe High School. I'm Shane Coltsviel inside
Greg Bigham, and we are at our normal court side
seat here.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
At the Thomas M.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Cup at court as tonight, the Chilicoffee Cavaliers start the
second season, now the postseason, because we're in the Division
three the sectional district type of format that's changed up
a little bit. Gregs They is they've taken out the
terminology of sectional tournament. So this would be I guess
considered what a sectional semifinal under the old format with

(00:48):
the chance to advance the Friday Night's final against the.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Undefeated Miami Trace Panthers. But tonight, first things first, the
Chilicoffee Cavaliers have earned a home game and they welcome
share it in.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Obviously, people that know their basketball around the extended area
know that the Muskingham Valley League plays a really, really
good brand of basketball. We're familiar with new Lux Atton
from earlier in the year. But you look at these
two teams, they both enter on eleven and eleven. Honestly the
kind of mirror each other. Give me your your first
thought on as we get started here in the tournaments.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Well, the first thing that people don't know no longer
do you just send out and the coaches vote, And
there's always those complaints that well there's you know, there's
four teams in that conference. They stick together and vote
each other up. Now it's on RPI and interesting these
two teams are both finished to eleven eleven, very close
on their point totals and RPI, and it is a
good matchup, Pat Beard tell me, and we would be

(01:45):
familiar maybe some of the fans listening. In twice the
Cavs lost to Jackson, and Pat says, this team reminds
them of Jackson. Athletic, physical, probably a little less disciplined
than Jackson. They like to put up a lot of threes,
and so the Cabs are going to have to contest
the threes, rebound the basketball. But I think it's a
good matchup athletic wise for the Cavaliers, And I think

(02:07):
you'd agree, Shane Over the last couple of weeks, the
Caves have certainly started to hone in their same starting
lineup pretty much. Carte Liggan has grown as that sixth
man giving them a hey. I think he had seventeen
the other night off the bench. But I think they've
grown there to a point where they're probably playing their
best basketball. Didn't play well, Jackson, but there's been a
lot of illness. We'll get to that later. But I

(02:28):
think they're playing their best basketball. This should be a
good basketball game, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Against Sheridan at eleven eleven, eight and seven inside the
NBL Try Valley is gonna look like they outlasted John
Glenn and Maysville there at the top to win that
Sheridan had a fifth place finished. I'll keep in mind
that's like twelve teams in that thing there, So New
Lex is the only common opponent that we talked about
earlier in the year. They New Lex did defeat Chila

(02:54):
Coffee and Sheridan beat New Lex.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
For people that are not familiar.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
With Chili Coffee's finished, they were also eleven eleven overall,
six and four inside the fac I was a third
place finish, and you know, I look at Sheridan. They
got off to a nice start at five and two,
they dropped the five and six, didn't look like they
had everything righted there, drag at nine and six, but
now all of a sudden they lost five of seven
to get to eleven eleven. The reason I go through

(03:18):
all that is to ask you this. I feel like
Chilli Coffee's trending kind of the other wise, you know.
I mean there at the end of the year, you
just touched on it. I feel like Chili Coffee's starting
to play some pretty good basketball the second half.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
And I think playing at home the night has to
be a big deal and.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
That should help him, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
And and with Sheridan, you don't know those last couple
of games, if they were playing Dresden, Try Valley and
a couple of those, maybe John Glenn a couple outstanding
teams over there.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
You never know that. But you know Sheridan.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Athletically, I mean it always seem to be good in football,
solid and baseball, girl girls basketball, they're tremendous over the years,
but they're athletic and interesting. Now let's think the Calves
playing at home be smart. I don't think we can
have twelve or fourteen turnovers tonight. Keep it down to
six or seven. Get your good shots, and I'll be

(04:08):
those first four minutes. I'll be interested to see are
we more athletic? Can we get by the man guarding
you and get to the bucket, or are we gonna
have trouble getting to the bucket? Are they more athletic
like Jackson kept us from going to the bucket at
first four minutes?

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Will be interesting for me.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Let's take a look starting lineups here. I'll go through
the Sheridan starting lineup. First at guard a five eight
senior Corey Holden, a six foot junior Owen Kaynes. At
the third guard position, Tice Whiteman, a six free sophomore.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I believe Greg he's their quarterback on their football team.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Don't quote me on that. I believe young man's and
out standing athlete. There six ' two senior Evan Anderson,
and then six ' two sophomore Logan Russell. So again
there for head coach Doug Fisher, Holden, Caynes, Anderson, Whiteman,
and Russell for the Chilkoffee Tavaliers coach be able to
run him out the way normally does. Senior point guard
Jan Miller will be joined in the back court by

(05:04):
six to three sophomore Kayden Cox and six to two
junior Cooper stone King at the forward position, six '
four sophomore Andrew Hammond and six three senior Cam Badger
again for coach Beard, Miller, Cox, stone King, Hammon and Badger.
And as I go through those particular matchups, you see
a lot of similarity in size.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I look at the numbers, Greg.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
You know, Sheridan probably plays a little bit more up tempo,
scoring and giving up right around fifty eight to night.
They have pretty much an even differential Chilic Coffee plays
right around the fifty four pace. So you know, I
just feel like everything I've studied today kind of tends
to lean toward a really even matchup.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
So I agree with you, it's gonna come down to
some details.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Yeah, you know, I mean who's on. They shoot a
lot of threes.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
If they're on with the threes, you know that goes
if they're off with their threes, if Sheridan and it
is and plus it's a tournament game. Cartes of freshman
Caden's is a sophomore, Hammon's a sophomore, and you know
they have been playing better, but still all of a sudden,
it's a tournament, lose, you go home. And what kind
of effect I don't have on the young on some

(06:15):
of these young caves.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
We'll see.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Well, we're going to step aside here for a little
bit of a time out during the national anthem to
stay with us.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
We'll be back for tonight's tip.

Speaker 2 (06:23):

Shane cold Bige, appreciate you being with us no matter
how you're listening to me at fourteen ninety WBX on
the AM side, ninety two point seven FM for of
course worldwide on the iHeart, Greg and I are here
tonight for Chill, Coop and Sheridan as we get tournament
actions started over on the WKKJ side Thursday night, myself
and Lou Postage.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
We'll have the unio to logan Elm game.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Friday night on WKKJ Jacob and Lou we'll have the
Zane Trace Nelsonville game, and then from that point on
we'll wait and see how our area team's doing advance,
and then we'll hopefully be able to follow them as
they advance into the future round. So you know, Greg,
is I on Saturday night, you and I had to
split up to try to get some of the makeup
games on, with you doing the chilicopy in the Claim

(10:44):
game and I was over doing the gunning.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Out to pay Valley games.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I wanted to ask you this since I didn't get
a chance to see that one Friday night. I thought
that was about as tired, just fatigue, lethargic effort as
I've seen from Chilla Coffee all year long.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
I mean, I thought, because I've.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Never questioned the effort of this group at all, sounds
like Saturday they really bounce back and played with a
little bit more energy.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Well tell me about Saturday a little bit.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Well they still I think cam Badger and Andrew Andrew
Hammond was lucky. He looked like he was dead in
the water. He just had no energy. He still had
three threes. Coach Pat Beard fortunately had a good matchup Greenfield.
McClain played a lot of their bench throughout the game.
And I'll tell you about the thing about Saturday night

(11:29):
Cooper Stone Kings Flt. Their zone scored six straight points
and then as the game went on, Carte Leggan looked
like a senior.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
He was a man among men.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
He had six seventeen eighteen points, dominated the boards and
they also got quite a bit from No. One nett
Or who scored six points fed him in the low post.
So the young guys were able to fill in and
it gave him a lead and they didn't have to
use those five guys a lot. Mainke that help because
there are obviously a lot.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Of illness going around.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
And Coach Beard said, they're a little bit better, but
still a couple of guys are still a little underweather.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
We shall see. Well, we're not ready to get going here.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
It's gonna be Caden Cox jumping sitter against Slogan Russell
Chilcaffee in the home white moving from mart left or
right as we call it Fornia here courtside. Cox is
up wins the back of the tip with the backtip
to Miller and Chili Cooffee will have the opening possession
here this evening. Hammon hides it up Toppy, hands it
off the miller. Hammon comes off a flare screen, takes it,

(12:27):
drives hard cut off there on the baseline, kicks it
back out the Badger. Badger will give way the stone King.
Stone King hard drive to the right. Wanted to go
baseline kick but didn't have a shooter in the corner
and end up throwing it away. Turnover for Chilicoffee on
the opening possession to.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Only had a couple opportunities on I thought Cooper was
gonna shoot it. I thought Hammon was gonna shoot it.
Both of them gave it up and wind up with
a turnover.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
ChIL Coffee comes out with the little one two two
three quarter court generals break it there. Russell will try
a three in the corn that goes all the way
in and comes out offense. A rebound from Whiteman shot
up his block out comes Cox with it left corner.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Miller.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
He'll try a three, misses everything, but Badger runs it
down back out stone King.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Stone King will go and try a right wing three,
no good.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Another offensive rebound, this time Hammon back out the Cox
we're just one minute in.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
No score, high post a tree, it's Bager.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
He'll square up, throw it out to the right wing
to hammer back up top to Bager. Bager will try
to top the key three to gout it.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Tam Badger gets the scoring start three nothing.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Chilicothe tis right back into the three quarter court. Fall
into the middle there, James kicks it left corner. It's Whiteman, threeball,
no good rebound. Miller out the Cox. Here comes Chillicothee
again try neither their three nothing advantage. Cox gets all
the way into the middle, kicks out right corner. Andrew

(13:56):
Hammond dials up a three.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Give Kayden Cock. He assists, sicks nothing in chili coffee.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Has with a deflection in the back court. Almost had
to turn over. Now the Generals get it into the
into the scrimmage area.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
They go. Wes Anderson will try a three. God's too strong.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Rebound him in the Chili coffee coach Viever's right there
checking up the three, of course, so are we.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Cox haes it in the left corner, spins in the baseline.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
He's trapped there. Ball's going to be knocked out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Last touch by Sheridan, Chilcaffee will keep possession.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
One Miller will inbound it on the o b under for.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Chilicathe up against the five count thos it all the
way in the back court.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Stone King will run it down.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
So Chilcoffee will keep possession. Now him and has it
into the corner.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Tried to go baseline.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
It's poked out of bounds again, so Chili coothe should
be the obi under one more time. Coach Beard sends
the call down to the to the iphisent end.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
One of the Sheridan players ty his shoes, so we've
got to momentarily delay.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Six nothing.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Chili Coffee by fifty two first quarter, just underway here
in bound the cocks Cocks up on the might have
been partially blocked out Comes shared it with us. Russell
pushes it in the open court, shot up off the glass.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
No good.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Stone King and Chilli Coffee with the rebail right have
got away with a double dribble. Now he pushes it
into the open court. No one stops the basketball. Cooper
stone King just simply goes coast the coast and lays
it in time out. Share it in short time out.
We'll stay here and you're Greg, it's hard to script.
The better start eat nothing right off the back.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
Nothing.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
I'll make a coach, you know this, nothing, I'll have
a coach call time out quicker than the other team
to drive all go way down. Nobody picked him up
and he lays it in. And that's what happened, Cooper.
Nobody picked him up and laid it in. But yeah,
a couple of threes, Sheridan. They haven't made a shot yet.
Obviously they've been over three three point line, over two
the two point line.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Three different generals have attempted the three. Now.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I thought the first two were pretty good looks. The
last one played a little deep. The Russell three in
the quarter, went all the way in and came out.
It's so far, so good in terms of Chili Coffee
cleaning up the defensive glass.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
It happened to gotten the steel out of this one
too too. But they certainly have forced Sheardan to take
a quick couple of quick threes.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Out of the time out. Chilicoffye will stay in the defense.
Now it's into the scrimmage area. Looks like Chili Coffee
back in the scrimmage area will match up man to
man Russell on the high post. Entries filed by Badger
just a common file Cam's first team. First, Corey Holden

(17:01):
will inbound the basketball and the ob under for Sheridan.
They'll run Anderson off the double screen. Then they'll sneak.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
That's too quick on cam as just.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
As Craig says with two on Cam Biger, Carte leggan
quickly off the bench through lace.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
Vigel, All right, that one was. That's okay. He was
hustling the defense down in the little block.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
The one before he just kind of jumped over top
of someone twenty feet from the basket, right off the veil.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
They curled Russell back into the middle. Shot no good.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Rebail to Anderson and put back good Evan Anderson takes
the lid off the basket for Sheridan.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Chilicothee's lead trip to eight to two.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I'm gonna had that rebound a guy knocked out of
his hands and he can wind up getting the leup.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
High entry to Carte ligging. Now get us off the
stone head. They want cocks in the post. Now they
actually got to hand it in the post. Carte Lincoln
offensive rebound off the hand and miss Lincoln goes back
up and it's gonna get fired. So Carte Ligan will

(18:12):
go to the free throw line.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
He's just so good on the boards because of his
quickness and building to jump.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
First free throw was good.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Carte already the fourth Cavalier to get in the scoring column,
and we're just a little over three minutes in.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Second free throw. No good. Generals will look to push him.
Russell gets all the way to the rims shot up.
No good. Miller with the rebound out comes Legan in
the open court.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Legan tried to cross over, and I think they're gonna
get Anderson for a block.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
That was one of those bang bang calls.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
The quickness of Carte Legan just almost made it impossible
for Anderson to beat.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Him to the spot.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Another ov under opportunity for Chilicothee, and again they've got
to throw.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
It all the way out top. This time Anderson picks
it all. Having Anderson in.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
The open cord pull up jump or no good rebound,
Whiteman put fight good Tice.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Whiteman.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
His put back basket cuts Chili Coffee's lead to five.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
At nine to four.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
Now both their buckets have been offensive rebounds.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
We talked about that they are strong, not necessarily huge, tall,
but very strong inside.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Stone King has it on the other end, gives way
to Miller, now up top Cox Cox thought about the
three momentarily.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Now we'll go to the right side to him and
ham And will drive hard to the baseline.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Shot up off the glass. No good.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
As Hamman tried to follow the shot. Gray, I think
they got him over the top of the.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Five on hamm and over the back after he missed
the shot.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Hard Andrews first file team's third.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
So nine to four, three fifty seven first quarter sharedan
back in possession of the basketball, holding across the timeline,
goes left side. Russell will try a three. No good
him and on the box out.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
And the official from the opposite side comes in.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
I think they got Anderson of Sheridan a little too aggressive.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
That might be his second foul.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
So they got Whiteman. I apologize. So they got Whiteman
there away from the ball.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
So nine to four.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Chilicothies lead remains at five times. Back on the offensive end,
stone King has it up top.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
He hands it off the Miller. Now off the flare screen.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Stone King will try a right side three and a
guy it super stone King with five on the evening.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
That's his first three balls.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
The third different cavalier that's connected from the three point
line already, but comes Sheridan white Man has it on
the left side. Now it's a back cut to.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Anderson as he lost Carte legging away from the ball
and he lays it in.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Nice move about the ball there from Anderson to lay
it in. That comes Miller right side. It's Cox uptop
stone King. Stone King will swing it left side to him.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
And now Cox has it.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Pretty good movement here from Chilcothy. Now Cox will look
to go one on one. He'll turn and pitch at
the stone King. Stone King will try another three this
time no good. Carte ligging with an offensive rebound, but I.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Think they're gonna say he pushed off to get the advantage.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Be Cart's first file. Fourth team in Chili Cothi's forward positioned.
Greg starting to add up on the files here a little.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Bad.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
You're already out with two fouls.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
You'll stay in the one too, too.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
But they'll put Liggan up top there and Cox will
take a wing spot and they're.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Going to force the travel there. Looks like Canyon Canyon.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Daily checking into the game there for Sheridan just ended
up sliding the pivot foot a little bit, turns it
back over to Chilocothe. They want the Chili Coffee students
off the floor. They got to be up on the
top there. Cox on an iso play from the left

(22:36):
wing there's one on one and lays it in nice
little design there to give Kayden Cox to one on
one opportunity.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Fourteen to six Chili Cooffee.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
I come shared in Chili Cooffee, continuing to trap up top,
giving Sheridan some fits. White men from the left corner
will try a three, No good Cox with a rebound
Cox out of the open court.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
He'll pull up mid range jumper.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
No good carte Ligan keeps it alive now andrew him
and comes out with it.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
He gets at the stone King stone King up shot.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
No good Cox now with an offensive rebail and has
put back host.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
It is good. That's just Chilli.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Coffin simply out working in their opponent and Cox has
gonna have a chance for an old fashioned three.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
That's a big time effort from about three or four
to the cavaliers.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Job underneath kept it alive.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Freethrow was good three point play successful. Seventeen and six
Chili Coffee.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Sam Lawrence into the game for Sheridan.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Kenyon Daily in.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Noe better.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
We'll come into the game here for Chili Coathe so
Chilicothe will stay in the one too too. That'll move
Cocks back up on.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
The point of it.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Sheridan comes up into two guard front, swings the left
side the hold now back to the right side.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Anderson.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Now they tried to go download to Russell's poked away
last touched by the Cavaliers who shared and I have
it underneath its own basket.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Yeah, Andrew might have got lucky to kind of reach
from behind and knock it out from him and that
no foul.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
How top it's Daily Daily again moved the feet. That's
his second travel. They're just got a little happy with
the feet. Good ball pressure kind of speeding the Sheridan
guard up. So seventeen to six Chili Coaffee in front
one thirty nine first quarter. Miller will bring it up

(25:00):
for the Cavaliers. Try to enter at the Cox picked
off by Anderson. Anderson out in the open court, shot up,
No good, Cox had it for a minute. Now Daily
takes it away, chicks it out Anderson'll try a three,
no good rebound ham and tooke away down Netdar has
it so one nineteen. Chilicothee back in possession of the basketball.

(25:21):
They lead it seventeen to six.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Miller has it up. Time enters at the Hammon.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Hammon comes off a ball screen from Netter shared and
tried to hedge the ball screen hard.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
And they said it was a little too aggressive and
it's gonna be called for a foul.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
There's the fifth foul, so we'll be shooting two.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
That'll be Andrew Hammond pointing the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Andrew's already hit a three pointer here tonight, trying to
add to that individual total. First free throw, no good.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Pedro will get a second.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
One shot up, that's no good, not able to convert
shared him with the rebail that's unused.

Speaker 5 (26:21):
Such a Andrew's such a good shooter.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
See that might be a little bit of him being
ill on a little bit of the strong legs.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Both of some free throws short.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Certainly some fatigue rustle off a ball stream from holding.
Chilicoffee'll trap there now they trap lords as well. Chilicothe
basically just chasing the basketball. To really state aggressive defensive
Ward Lawrence right quarter three, No good rebuilt him and
give a way to Cox. Let's see if Chili Cooffee

(26:49):
you get the last shot here thirty seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Chili Cooffee leads at seventeen to six.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Miller comes all the way out top and takes the
hand off from Cox. There's no five count on so
to see your point guardal what the clock tip down?
Sixteen fifteen in county Now Chilocaffee will go about the
ten count They dribble into a hand off the stone King.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Stone King has it taken away, holding out into the
open court.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
He crosses over to the middle, drops it off there
to lords and.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
He lays it in.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Sam Lawrence beats the buzzer. We've arrived at the end
of the first quarter. Chili Coffee seventeen share today you

Welcome back to Chilicoffee High School Shank Holmes and Greg Bagel.
Pretty good start for Chilicoffee even though they did next
Hute Slim and School there. If you end the first
quarter they still lead at seventeen to eight share. That
will start the second quarter with possession of the basketball.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
They run a little quick set.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
On trying to get a back door and name up
phone in away turnover back to the Cobs greg Let's
first quarter numbers help.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Sheridan shot twenty five percent oh of seven from the
three point line. Calves shot forty percent six out of fifteen,
but we were three out of six, as you mentioned,
from the three point line.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Maybe the worst.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Stab for the Calves are two out of five from
the free throw line. Yeah, they've been shooting free throw
as well, but not in the first quarter. Sheridan comes
out a little bit of his own.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Look.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
It looks like to me a one three one extended
way out ChIL coffee in a two guard front with
Cox and stone King Hambn'll.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Try a right quarter three.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Yeah, no, and that are got called from a legal pick,
so offensive foul.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
That's the Calves fourth turnover.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Yeah, one of the things that Calves all year long,
and Erny in at the end of a quarter end
of a game. The Calves are one of the worst
teams I've seen this year. They just I think part
of it is they try to go one on one,
they get double teamed, and then so many times they
don't even get a shot off. Nice play by Hammond
and knock it away.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Very active toil defense at this point, a lot of deflections.
Anderson has it out top, kicks it left side there
to hold and hold. The will drive hard to the
middle the Ice reverse pivot and comes back to the
left hand and lays it in.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Nice move.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Corey holding the five eight senior point guard seventeen to
ten chill of coffee by seven. Miller has it up
top getting Sheridan's Intensity's picked a way up on the
defensive end here Stone King take it away by Anderson,
Anderson out in the open court shot fake up loft

(30:34):
by Cox.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Nice defensive play.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Cayden Cox out comes Cox with it to the left hand.
Now he dumps it down loaded. Netter goes inside out
to one Miller. Nothing there now Miller will try to
go up top.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
The stone from the Cads are gonna have to figure
something out of here. I would I would think noing
that a might come out. They're going to need more
ball handlers in this half court trapper all right now,
they're just around the perimeter and a struggle. That's five turnovers,
that last rumbled by a Cooper stone King, who's turned
it over twice in a row. Coop, you can't dribble
as Cooper likes to do against that trap.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Ham And has it up top, lobs it over the
trap to Miller. Now Miller dribbles it up top, turns
the Cox goes left corner to him and who tries
a three no good cartel legging, working hard for the
offensive rebound. I'm gonna be knock out of bounds by
sharing and so soil okaffee'll keep possession.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Not a bad look for him in there, And that
was pretty good, pretty patient. Miller will win bound.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
It goes ball site corner to him and up top
at stone King.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Stone King goes hard to the right hand, kicks it out.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
To the corner to him and him and now up
to Miller. Now Cox has it looks like Sheridan's bites
back up into the man the man setting. They dump
it down in the post cartel leg turnaround jumper good
carte living good position down on the baseline.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
I did a good job not charging there too.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Nineteen ten Chili Coffee comes shared it and gets the
Chili cooffee pressure Anderson Pete trades in the middle, taken
away by stone King. Stone King out in both the conx.
Cox let's a defender fly by and lays it in Cayden.
Cox now is seven on the evening twenty one to ten,
Chilikofy by eleven bight come the general hold into the

(32:33):
middle diagonal, kicked the rustle in the right corner, three ball.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
No good hand it with a rebound.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
How comes Conx who throws a long skip bounce past
the stone King lay up, no good. Stone King gets
it back and they're gonna say he lost out a
bund awfully good.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Pass from Cox out up in court. I don't know
if stone King ever really had a good handle one
time out on the floor.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
It's gonna be a short one. We'll stay here. Twenty
one the tim ChIL A Coffee, you know, Greg as
the tipo picks up a little bit. I don't think
that hurts Chila Coffee. I think they're a team that
likes to play in space.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
It's just it's that old.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
It's that old, the situation of, you know, play fast,
old hurry, and sometimes ChIL Coffee can get in a hurry.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Right yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
I think I almost think this timeout was more let's
get a break, let's catch our breath and stuff. And
I also think he's trying to Cooper's upset with himself,
and you can tell his body language coach bat Beard
started to get on him and I think he realized
and Cooper's still shaking his head there that you know
he missed the laft and turned it over, couldn't get
a hold of it. But we'll see. They did get

(33:47):
the ball down to Carte. But this trap for Sheridan's
been effective, putting a lot of pressure trying to trap.
But yeah, I agree to your point. I think we
can play up tempo with him.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Jilli Coffee remains to use the one too too just
and trying to speed things up a little.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Bit something with Sheridan so far, I say this little
Jenx's bigion. So far, they can't make a three and
they're taking some multile quick threes.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Elbow entry to Russell. Russell drops it off the hold,
He drives hard in the middle, shot fake up and
under up on the rim.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
No good cart He ligging in Chili Coffee with the
reband nol Cox will bring it up the left side.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Chili Coffee leads it twenty one ten four forty one,
remaining in the first half. Ligging into the middle draws
two defenders, kicks it back out the miller.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Al Cox hies it up top he'll.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Retreat back quart high court, trigged around the coach Beard
and get a call. Now he goes left side stone King,
stone King waves it in the left corner for Miller,
throw it downloaded. Netter who's come back into the ballgame,
who does a nice job in traffic, japs control, gets
it up on the rim, gonna score and draw the file.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Nice job knowing better.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
There were two guys hanging on uh no uh. He
was trying to get a hold of it, but he
got up in the air and got enough of it
to get his shot off, and he connected a chance
a three point play.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Good minutes here from NoaNet or for Coach Beard, the
six six sophomoreal get a free throw shot, it's no good.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
He struggles for Chilicofee.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
If I lock, you know they have struggled to Charity's
truck shooting thirty three percent.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Cane ties it up top, drops the bounce past the
lightening and he just loves it out of bound.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Sheridan just seems really sped up. And I think you
got to give the Chili Cooffee defense some of that credit.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Turn over back to Chili Coffee's which come up on
the four minute marks here in the second quarter, twenty
three to ten Chili Coffee, Miller across the timeline, throws
at the ham and the hammer's trap there returned past
the miller.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Now swings that the tops.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Cocks and miller play a little giving going to the
miller little floater by soft tucking.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
That's nice Miller. He was contested, got it up over
the defender and dropped it in.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Twenty five to ten Chili cooffee by fifteen back out top.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Cocks out of the upper corn of the steel.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
He goes two hands to two feet into slaves a
hole take tops brings the crowd to its feed hair
and a time out.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Share it though it's chili coffee.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Threatens to break this thing open.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
At twenty seven to ten, it's a full time out.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
We'll take it with him. You'll listen to Chili Coffee
Boys basketball on fourteen ninety WBS.

severe lung damage. Recall and consider the facts making a
poor decision.

Speaker 12 (37:01):
The house class film guy isn't the best person to
talk to your kid about vaping.

Speaker 17 (37:05):
Got a few minutes you are start the conversation with
your child about vaping today.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Welcome back to Chilicoffe High School.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Shane Holmes, Greg Begham here with the tournament basketball. And
I tell you what great chili coffee did. Have that
one missqueue in the time and score here the first quarter.
Outside of that, they come right back here in the second.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Quarter already, uh in the quarter here and let's see.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Tends to outscoring the generals that really it's been all
have alricus.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Yeah, and they've done and night.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah. The few times down under when they missed a
shot down under, they've gotten their own rebounds several times.
I don't keep offensive rebounds, but I've been at least
four times we've missed a shot down under but able
to keep the ball back and get it back on
an offensive rebound. But yeah, the end of the first
quarter was bad, but other than that, very good. And
they're turning turnovers and open another turnover.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Yeah right out the time.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
I don't just yeah, you know, And it's funny, right
because I don't know if you call that unforced or
not yet Chili Coffee's showing the pressure. That's just the
passing catch and they just simply throw it out a bank.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
You know, I think it's still over three minutes to play,
and you know you got to make Hay here well,
I can't remember the same, but got to make well.
Things are going well for you here while Sheridan's struggling
a bit. They've had They've had like three turnovers the
last four possessions. So keep it going, build this lead.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Well, and you make a good point while you got
him on the ropes a little bit.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
I've watched this team on film score about seventy five
or eighty in the game before, so they obviously have
the ability to get it going. But right now Chili
Coffee's got him scrambled.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Out of the change of possession.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Here, Sheridan goes back to the extended zone. Hambon's got
it in the corner, throws it in the post parte Lincoln.
He goes inside out the cops who'll try a three
no good Ham and look at offensive rebound download a
matter and Thatter lays it in the netter basket twenty

(39:08):
nine to ten, and I think it was telling the
warnings is gonna be that netter's got to leave the
ball load.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
When it goes through the net. So nonetheless going better
with his second basket of the night.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
He has other offensive rebound. Show we've done a good
job at that tonight. That's been a strong point.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
Twenty nine to ten. Back come the Generals two guard
front against the pressure.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Kinges has it across the timeline, kings the left hand
ribble poked away from behind by Cox. Another jilacoffee steel
up comes Miller with it Miller right side the Cox.
Cox will retreating nowt toward half court. Shared the back
of the man demand left side. It's Carte ligging. Ligan

(39:56):
will look to drive hard to the middle. He gets
it all the way to the rim block there by Lawrence.
A lot of contact at the rim out comes Russell
shared it. He kicks it left side.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
It's white man. He'll try a three, no good rebound.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Russell his shot up a good Logan Russell his first basket.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Of heaving twenty nine to twelve.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Chilicafee in front. The cock springs up into the scrimmage area,
hands it off the ligan ligan his way to Miller
one thirty seven to go here in the first half,
high post ham downloaded net ter, a cutting Miller comes
to the rim blocked from behind there holding that they're

(40:42):
gonna say holding got a pretty good piece.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Of Miller's are and van Miller's gonna go to the
free throw bones.

Speaker 4 (40:49):
See if one get us gone here again and one
of the only few negatives with the calves two out
of six from the charity strake. If one can drop
a couple win Stunkings said to come back in. I
think Nedder will be coming.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
One's first free throw good, so one Miller will get
a second free throw again. It's been all Cavaliers. They
lead at thirty to twelve, one one to play the

(41:24):
first half, second free throw good Bill are now with four.
Pil Cothey continues to use the one to too daily
and hold and play a little passing catch to break
the pressure out there to the scrimmage area.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
They go right side.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
It's Lorrence Lowrence left hand dribble gives way to hold
hold up top Russell.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Russell drives hard to the right hand, shot up on
the glass.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
This is everything out come to Schilicothe with a Cox
into the open court. Cox with a little flow up
off the glass and good Kayden Cox into double figures.
Now thirty three to twelve.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Chili Coffee.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
That comes Sheridan again. Chili Coffee's trap causing some problems
those dagon all the way down the Lord it's a
hit a rib that comes down sharedon keeps possessed now
daily in the middle. I think he got away with
some steps lost a Bulba Taylor. They get it by
Chili Coffee, just making it complete chaos with their defense

(42:30):
and athleticism.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Now I think they're gonna get Carte Logan.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
Before they were trying to get Carte out for the
last minute because he's got a found. They don't want
him to pick up his second s cam Badger has
to and they had a netter here, but they couldn't
get him in the game.

Speaker 5 (42:42):
And then Carte picks up his second towel.

Speaker 4 (42:43):
Then both coach coach Dune King just smacked their hands
together like dag one.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
We've tried to get him out.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
All the way top.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
It's Anderson Anderson turned down to three now tries to
get the shoulder into that.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Are a little bad and they're gonna they're gonna call
the foul on that one. So having Anderson, you're gonna
go to the free throw line. Six two.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
Senior has four points on the evening. The first foul
shot for Share and they let him. Normally a tournament
they let him play. And I think they've let him play,
especially taking the ball with a hoop tonight.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
First free throw is no good.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Anderson will get a second, gets shared and comes in
averaging fifty eight points a night.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
No good on the second free throw, Oh man, they're
kick it out, Whiteman. He tries to three. No good,
So eighteen seconds to go. The coves that will be
able to take the last shot again. Maybe Beardon comes
in fifty eight points a night. Joel Coffee's held him
to twelve.

Speaker 5 (43:55):
You can't go one on six here.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Cox written through maybe a well heya than las its
three quarter core.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Shot coming back the lower fall short and it's halftime.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Here at lsp hat Memorial todaysy if it's been all chilicoffee,
the Cabs lead at thirty five to twelve.

(47:52):
at the beginning at the ear excuse me, at the
end of the a half shared and comes in averaging
fifty eight point four and I in they're sitting here
at all point, said Chilicoffee. The defense just been everywhere
that they've really been able to speed them up, and
it's led to some bad shooting there.

Speaker 5 (48:07):
What are the numbers bad shooting?

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (48:10):
And I agree with you. Plus nine turnovers, so you
double that if Sheardan keeps it up, that's eighteen. That's
a lot of turnover to nine turnovers. Calves had six turnovers.
They slowed down on turnovers a little bit there late
in the second quarter. Shooting wise, for Sheridan, I've got
them six out of twenty five. That's twenty four percent.
They're oh for ten A couple of times. I really
couldn't tell if foot was on the line of count

(48:30):
as the three, but I got them oh for ten
for the three point line, oh for two from the
charity stripe.

Speaker 5 (48:35):
So they're struggling all the way around.

Speaker 4 (48:37):
Plus the nine turnovers in the first half for the Cavaliers,
a lot of good shots, especially down inside. In that
second quarter, fourteen of twenty seven fifty two percent shooting.
For the Calves, they're three out of seven from the
three point line and one miller hitting those last two
free throws bring him back to four of eight from
the charity stripe, so fifty percent there, but over fifty

(49:00):
percent from the field tonight three out of seven.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
Not bad.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
They got those three early threes.

Speaker 4 (49:05):
Missed the last several, but they've done a good job,
and you know they've gotten the ball inside. Plus they've
scored off turnovers by getting down the floor. I'm thinking
three or four times where one time Cooper went coast
to coach, nobody picked him up, and uh the Cocks
as well got down to there a couple of times
for lay and so they've gotten the ball down inside.

Speaker 5 (49:24):
That improves you're shooting, certainly they're in the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
A great you and I have seen this particular chilicoffee
team play at a really high.

Speaker 3 (49:33):
Level like this for a quarter, sometimes a half.

Speaker 2 (49:37):
They've really struggled sometimes to deliver the knockout punch as
they go into the.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
Putting the four quarters together. I would say it's got
to be part of.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
Coach beards message here is, you know, especially tournament time,
you don't want to let anyone off the night here
coming out and continuing.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
It's got to be what coach Beards in there talking about.

Speaker 4 (49:55):
Until that has happened A lot happened a lot early
in the season. I can remember game I did up,
but I believe well they gave up with close lead
and sent for Crossing. Had a big lead down a
Warren early in the season. Really when McLain was here,
we were up like eighteen nineteen and got back to
maybe four. So it has happened. It's a tournament game,

(50:18):
and you know, Shane, you mentioned us. Sometimes you get
in that you know, you don't want to take a
quick shot. You got a twenty plus point lead, but
sometimes you don't want to become complacent and because Sheridan's
going to keep pressing.

Speaker 5 (50:29):
That's the only chance they have. They're going to keep
trapping and pressing. I think that's hard for.

Speaker 4 (50:32):
Kids sometimes, but yeah, the Calves have not played with
a big lead really well. But they've got a big
lead right now and hopefully they'll be able to.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
Do that well.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
The individual scoring, you look here, Chili Coffee's led by
six three sophomore Cayden Cox with thirteen points.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
He's the other Cavalier and double figures. After that, they
spread it out quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
Cooper Startegue with five, Jan Miller with four though at
that ran with four, and did Carr take Logan three,
Camp Badger with three, Andrew Hammond with three. So again one, two, three, four, five,
six seven Cavaliers at the scoring college and certainly take
that over on the shard inside again just twelve total points.

(51:14):
They're led by Evan Anderson with four and then it's
two apiece for Corey Holden, Tye Wiman, Sam Lorence and
Logan Russell. Coming up onto about three minute park, we'll
step aside for a quick time out. We'll come back
and get you ready for a second half action. You

Welcome about Chilicofi High School.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
Shank Holmes, Greg vigam not a bit at the half
here left in the half time warm up to spit
all Chili Coothie.

Speaker 3 (52:50):
They lead shared at thirty five to twelve.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
And you Greg, if we look back throughout the year,
we've seen Chili cooffee, it stilled the floor a little bit.
But I don't recall a time where Coach Beard to
stay with it as much ers for as long as
he has. Tonight he's used about three different people up
top of the one two two three quarter cord.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
And it calls the nine turnovers.

Speaker 2 (53:14):
But maybe born importantly, it really ended up speeding shared
it up a little bit.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
I think I led the support shooting.

Speaker 5 (53:21):
Yeah I did. And uh, you know, Cam Badger got
two quick fouls he went.

Speaker 4 (53:24):
He was out laed three for in less than four
minutes in the first quarter and the cast played very
well without Cam hit that first three to start to
get him. Uh but uh, and I think that's part
of the growth of Carte ligging. And now you bring
Krte in as a freshman, you're not missing the beat.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Good question about it.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
Off the bench there carta ligan with three off the
bench going better with four. So again you're getting some
good production there with coach Beard.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
Goes to the bench.

Speaker 5 (53:54):
I was all worried about the chill COOPI students section.

Speaker 4 (53:57):
They've made them off the floor, move up and from
here that first row, the bleacher's got quite a bow
in it from all the sub They're not going to
fall far, but it could be wild if a part of.

Speaker 5 (54:08):
The bleachers caps see. I see what you're saying. A
little bit of a bow.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
That's not the safest.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
Appreciate the official looking over there to take care of
the media. We're ready to go, Thank you, and it's
gonna be Chilo Coffee possession.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
To start the third quarter.

Speaker 2 (54:23):
Haws has it up top, tries to throw it left
side to Stoke keep hoped out of mountains there by
Owen Keyes Chilocoffee will keep.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
Possession and Sheridan's got to They're gonna come out gamble.
They're going to double team out front. They did it
pretty well. They're at one point to start the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (54:40):
Stoone kegal thud all the way to back court there
the Lon Miller Biller will bring it up with the
right hand ribble, hands it off to hem and handled
with a strong pivot there and I'll give way to
Cox Cox left side stone Key stove key right hand
ribble toward the biddle.

Speaker 4 (54:58):
They can find him and Shane he's got a mismatch.

Speaker 2 (55:02):
They tried to go download there to badger. A pretty
good front of the post by White, but he pokes
it out of bounds, so it's gonna be Chili coffee
ball underneath, throws it in ball side wing the Cox.
Now Miller has it back back up top the Cox.

(55:24):
Here in the second half, Chili Cooffee will be moving
our right the left. As we call the Acttoria to
share to go back our left to right. Stone King
splits the double team, drops it off on the baseline
there to Hammond.

Speaker 3 (55:36):
He turns and throws it back out the miller. Pretty
good patience.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
From Chili Coffee. Now Hammond's ties it on the right side,
penetrates to the elbow. Lost it for a minute. Cox
gets it packed, throws it down load of bage and
he lays it in.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
So good job at.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
Chilicoffee, at least staying with it. The prettiest passing catchment
you'll take it.

Speaker 5 (56:00):
Kept with it, got away with a break there.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
Hold with a free throw line jump shot. No good
fight for the loose ball in the rebound. We're gonna sharedan.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
Foul they could got Owen cheans it's his first Cam
had the rebound. He got double team and they reached
over top of him.

Speaker 3 (56:24):
Shardan picks up in the full court alas one. Doller
gets it. Then shared on the.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Back off and go just a full court. Then hold
poachs it away, Door gets it back. All kinds of contackle,
the gribble all the way up the court. Now Cox
comes off of ball screen.

Speaker 3 (56:43):
You know, Cox is tackled right in front of him.
Were white men will be called for the foul, so
certainly physical action.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
Yeah, a lot of one got kind of pounded pretty
good trying to get it up the floor.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Biller has it now, brings it up with the left hand,
gives way to hand it, hand it trap.

Speaker 4 (57:15):
That's three thousand, just over a minute and a half
on Sheridan. But you're down twenty plus points, you're down
twenty five. They're going to be aggressive and they're picking
up fowls here.

Speaker 2 (57:27):
Said Biller will have it as a trigger man on
the baseline. Ob gives into badger.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Now up to Cox.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Cox goes over on the right point to stone Kings
Stowe King uses the left hand ribbles. I'll spends back,
now goes left quarter to cox Cox up top its
biller our stove King on the left wing. Thought about
the three. I'll try to throw it on the right
side the badger I at top stove Kin Tili Coothie

(58:05):
put together some lengthy possessions too.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
Yeah, they're getting you still got to tack the basket
when you can. They're trying to be smart here. I
rides it up top, goes right side Miller. Miller penetrates
at the left hand into the middle. Now kicks it
back out the stone King. He'll try a top of
the King forever the body.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
Cooper stone King.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
Now at eight on the evening, that says second tripper
forty to twelve till a top.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
Till Cothy trips there at half court. They stepped through hip.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
Whiteman all the way down under the bucket. Ham and
advisory trying to recover.

Speaker 3 (58:39):
And I think they're gonna get hemn yeahs on Andrew
on the file. So the shot will not go Tice Whitemess.
We'll go to the free throw.

Speaker 2 (58:51):
Love white Man has two points on the evening. First
shot up is good. What's Sheridan's first point of the
second half is white Man prepares to shoot a second
shot up, no good. Then I have a lame violation

(59:16):
there on chillakothe. So white Man is going to get
another opportunity to.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
Make good on that second free throw.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
White Man the six y three sophomore second free throw
now this time is good.

Speaker 3 (59:39):
Forty to fourteen.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
Out come.

Speaker 2 (59:42):
Chila Coffee gets depressedent Okay leganis it down to the
short corner, back out the stove, June.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Stove.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
Kin dribbles hard ticks right corner to Cox, Cox goes
base slide, gets up on the Blyssa good k with
a game high fifteen points forty two fourteen. Shardan trying
to throw it down.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Over the top of the Chilicothee pressure, throws it away.

Speaker 5 (01:00:13):
Kaden Is has game gain.

Speaker 4 (01:00:15):
Tell the growth he said, just knowing where to go up,
not to charge, not to take it all away.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Did we throw that away? Zil Coti throws it away
on the invaild.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
He gets the Sheridan pressure and Anderson gets a shot
up on a glass, no good rebound. Cox, Cox pushes
out calves have three on two number behind the.

Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
Back, passed the carte leg it and he lays it in.
Give Kaden coxy asif I comes share there.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
We've got a trap there by chilicoffee, and I think
they're gonna get Cox talk.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
To the Hens forty four fourties calves by thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
I wonder how long because a little bit of foul
show will coach Verard will stay in this trap.

Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
I mean it's been extremely effective. You're starting to get
some guys. Some found trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Can's on the drive, cut off there by him and
throws it back out typ Henderson Anderson one on one
against stoone King. I goes left side, that's white and three.
No good Russell with the offensive rebounds shot up is
good Logan Russell. It's this second basket of an IDs
four forty four sixteen Chilicafie in front. Three fifty five

(01:01:32):
to go third quarter. One Miller right hand dribble gets
deep into the lane, shot up on the glass hit
he got at the go and they had one opportunity
for the senior point guard.

Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
One Miller has some strength there.

Speaker 10 (01:01:51):
No a that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Enters the lineup and placing him and his one Miller.
I'll get the opportunity go the free throw line to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Complete the old fashion.

Speaker 13 (01:02:02):
Three not thinking about radio think again, because more people.

Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
What happened? Free throw good forty seven sixteen to a coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
Down low it's Russell working, gets better, better, goes up
and blocks the shop. They're going to say better got
even a little bit of body, So that's gonna send
low good Russell to the free throw log.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
I don't know, Coach Beard.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
Yeah, that was a I mean, I'm sure you wanted
to tell official you do not no Ah six six
and the other guys like six foot.

Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
Tall, no good. Coach Beard not gonna be too difficult
on the official.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
The forty seven to sixteed game, Badger returned to replaced.

Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
Him second free throw up. That's still good. Off. It's
a rebound share and put back basket is good. I
was Anderson.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
On the inbound. I think we got a Sheridan file.
I was blocked off there. Couldn't see what they called
down there. They oh, they're gonna say it turned it
back on.

Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
Yeah it did. I think it hit Kayden.

Speaker 4 (01:03:38):
That's twice trying to throw the ball and bounds under
Sheridan's basket.

Speaker 5 (01:03:42):
We've turned it over.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
Will boiled to Russell. He turns and goes hard to
the whole shot up. No good out comes Cox and
the open court he lays it in with the right hand.
I think the students section was expected a little bit
more showtime.

Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Cox made sure of it with the lay up.

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Time out on the floor. Cox now was seventeen. It's
gonna be a short time out, so we'll stay here.
And you know you mentioned that kayten Cox a really
efficient night too. I know we don't do the individual shooting,
but here's a young man with seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
I don't know if I remember.

Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
Hit this with three or four shots all day tonight.
He's done such a great job. I'm always being the
old guy. I'm complaining all the time about trying to
go one on three and one on four, forcing it.
And then I turned myself around, say, but if there's
anybody can do it, Kayden can do it sometimes Cooper.
But I just think he's grown so much tonight, and
I don't want a Jenksy knock on Wood, but he

(01:04:35):
every time he's made the right decision. Paused, go high,
don't go all the way under, stop from five feet away,
go ahead and go on under.

Speaker 5 (01:04:44):
On the other side.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
He's just made great.

Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Decisions and it's created a lot of good shots for
him back to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Actually they'll be shared a basketball. Anders said.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
It hits Russell to the middle, hook, kick it right side.
That's white but for a wide open three, that's their
first three.

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
White man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Now's seven of the evening, forty nine to twenty one
calves still by plenty. Bill Are on the cut, gets
it down low Miller, shot up, no good, ligod coax
it away. Now loose ball on the floor, good hustle
for go teams out comes Carte London with it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
He'll go to the river. Why he lays it in
and gets fouled, and the students section certainly approved. You're great.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
It seems like we we say it every time there
there's that one time per game. So this young man
plays where you just kind of leave yourself saying.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
Wow, Wow, he's a freshman.

Speaker 4 (01:05:41):
I've said this probably ten times that I couldn't wait
next year to watch him play football.

Speaker 5 (01:05:45):
I can't wait to watch him play basketball next year.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Shot up, no good, talks with the offensive rebound and
to put so everything going to Cavalier way. Kate Cox
continues to work on a big night. Anderson across the
timeline goes left side. Cane's on the dry.

Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
I think I'd get out of the press. We're worn
down a little bit. You're up thirty points.

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
Owen Keane's is going to go to the free throw line?

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Is Andrew Hammond prepared to check in after this first
free throw? I was caned by your third foul. So
Owen Keane's the six foot junior. His first free throw
is good. That's Owen's first point of the day. Kaine's

(01:06:50):
will get a second one.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Shot up. That was good, so makes good on their
fifty three twenty three times.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
By thirty Sheridan picks up in the full cord. They
look the run and jump, but Miller's just way too
quick for it. Gives way to the cutting hann who
scores and draws the file. Andrew Hamn nice cut, nice
strong finish. Give one Miller the assist, Andrew Hammond dead

(01:07:23):
count right, well, yes, health the field Goald. He'll get
the one free throw here to follow Andrew the six
y four softmore free throw up so good fight for
the loose ball out comes Russell.

Speaker 3 (01:07:40):
Left side.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
There's Kings now up to the elbow Russell Russell right
hand ribble, pull.

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
Up mid range.

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
He's got it, logan Russell, and now was six by
come stone King picked off there out of the open court.
That sprinkle a left hand lay up and good colden
sprinkle with.

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
His first basket of the nine back comes to a
kifee in a hurry.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Ham Badger lays it in and out all of a
sudden that actually just starts flying.

Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
Back and forth.

Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
Russell down little off balance shot no good gets his
own rebound, another shot go good Ham it with the rebound,
and now Biller will trying.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
To slow things down.

Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Biller works it up, left hand dribble his left quarter,
hambit up top stone King. He rips suit of the
right hand. There's right side Liggan and what Badger down
with the post good front there from.

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
Lowis back out tip one Miller. What's thirteen to go?
Third quarter? It's all chili coffee by thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
Stove King through the legs, comes left point to Hammond
left side.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
It's Liggan.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Ligga drives hard into the middle, gets all the way
to the rim and he's head on the shot. Shot
won't go, but he's gonna go back to the free
throw line. That first step is just really dynamical. Cart
back at the free throw line. We're gonna have some

(01:09:16):
subs here after the first free throw tip. That first
free throw a tip is good.

Speaker 8 (01:09:25):
Know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
A debtor returns for Chilcoffee. Corey Holden returns for the Generals.
Lgan with a second opportunity for the charity.

Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
Stripe shot is th good.

Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Hop throws it away outcome Philocofee two on one opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
I think I think Carte Legan was wanting Duan Biller
to throw it up at the rim.

Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
They dropped the pass off, Hi Beard wouldn't be happening.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Well, I would probably agree with you that. I probably agree.

Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Brakies on the right side gives way to hold back
out top.

Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
It's Russell. Russell bites into the dead rage.

Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Good box out for blond Miller. Pilicotie gets a back
Coach Beard urging for one shot. Twenty seconds remaining in
the third quarter. Stove King ghies it on the left point.
Now it's ten nine in County stove g there's right

(01:10:42):
side the Carte Lincoln. Someone's gotta go Ligan those right
quarter and snow and that ter for free and that
shot is short and that brings us to the into
the third quarter. ChIL Coffee fifty eight share the twenty

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
Okay, shared, or'll have the possession. To start the fourth quarter.
Anderson drives hard to the rim, shot up off the red.
No good out comes Carteluga, whether he explodes into the
open court, crossover down the middle, gonna have a shared and.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
Shit I had, and again I don't count. He'll go
to attempts if you get foul. So a lot of
field goal at tempts. We got fouled, don't I had?
Sheel Kthey ten out of twelve in that quarter. I
don't know if that seems right or not, but I
guess they're stone king on a long three.

Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
Everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
They scored twenty three points of the quarter. Yeah, she said,
stone takes no good.

Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
On that three. But yes, twenty three points of the quarter. Certainly, certainly, a.

Speaker 4 (01:13:01):
Nice lot of fast breaks, a lot of you know,
cocks getting inside.

Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Anderson throws it down low there it's it's Can's shot
partially blocked there by Stokie out fromes Miller with him,
Miller into the middle, comes left side at Stoke tune.
Stoke Can go back it out with the dribble and
I go right point to Liggan ligging up top Miller,

(01:13:27):
Miller into the post of badger who had nice position,
lost it on the way up, and they're going to
say that holding poked it away. We're around a time
out from the other end there by coach Fisher and
shared it's just a thirty time. I will stay here.
And you know you mentioned the ten of twelve. Why

(01:13:51):
don't we take this opportunity to do a little bit
more of the updated totals there in that.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Thirty one and they were ten out of twelve and
again and you know you're up thirty one, be negative.
They haven't shot free throws as well. That's one minor point.
But they were two out of five from the charity
stripe in that in that quarter, and on the ninth
there's six out of thirteenth in the charity stripe, uh,
one out of three from three, one out of two
from the three point line, so obviously shot the ball

(01:14:17):
real well. I had the Caves with six turnovers in
the first half. I did have them for four in
the third quarter, but they've maintained a thirty point advantage,
so that all in all, they shot the ball well,
and when they've been able to get in the open court,
they're just athletic enough.

Speaker 5 (01:14:32):
They've been getting to the bucket.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
I didn't Sheridan only had them with two turnovers in
that quarter, but they didn't shoot the ball very well.

Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
Quite out of a tie at the time, and I
was a nice one four low set. They went a
little street and get Badger it easy would.

Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Can Badger lays it in, yes, six Here in the
second half nine on the evening shot together it go good,
bet are out with the rebound. Here comes wald Miller
looking to push him Biller the middle left side. Stove
King bought about the three. I'll back out the biller.
Six thirty left of the game. Here one Biller has

(01:15:08):
it up on the left point, goes over on the
right side of the Legan. Legan will drop it in
the post there for Badger. Badger's shot up on the
rim and another of the one opportunity. It seems like Chila.

Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
Coffin's had about five or six of those here in
the evening bounce Camp Badger's turn for an old fashioned three.

Speaker 5 (01:15:27):
Else, I've got a running clock.

Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
Now Camp Badger will go to the free throw line.

Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
Yeah, thirty five point advantage makes it a running clock,
and we'll be running clock till it comes back under thirty, right, Shane, that's.

Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
Correct, Camp badger where you throw up. That's good. But
another time on the floor here.

Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
It's been a full time out.

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Cool. Well, let's take it with them. We'll step aside here.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
You're listening to Chilicofee boys basketball at fourteen ninety WBFS.

Welcome back, Shannon Colbs, Greg Bigo here at Chilicoffee High School.
It's been all Cavaliers this evening because they lead shared
of sixty three forty seven.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
Yeah, Shane, it's been a while since the Cabs have
had a tournament win. Of course, so we've talked earlier
year and people understand around chill Coni they've been to
Vision one. They're on enough Division one schools southeast. They've
had to go to the Central district and play the
likes of Newark, oll In, Tangy Orange Walnut Ridge over
the last three years at four therefore the last five years.
So it's tough.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Left side, it's Lawrence.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
As we return to actioneers shared a possession, gives way
there to Russell who drops a nice pass underneachar.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
To White one. White Wood scores sixty three twenty nine.
Chilo coffee Black comes stove team.

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
There's right side ligand ligand crosses over, gets it all
the way, the rib turns and throws it better.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
I'll try another three ball this time, no a better,
showing off a little bit of the range.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Sixty six twenty. There's right side. It's a three ball.
It's there by White. They're too strong when the belts
up over the backboard and good hustle there front forbes
hamp and to go down and get something. I got

(01:18:08):
that thing stuck up behind the back for it up
on the and uh get the brew there it's student
student section.

Speaker 3 (01:18:24):
Yeah, mister Hammond even got you.

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Yeah, when things are going well and you're winning by
thirty s, everybody's happy, aren't you here?

Speaker 16 (01:18:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
Everything sunshine and puppies.

Speaker 16 (01:18:36):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
So chilicothee possession four point thirty to go, Cavaliers in
front sixty six twenty nine poked the way the bike court.
We're gonna have over and back once camp Badger and touch.
I thought there was a deflection, but they're gonna say
that stone Tea was the last to touch it and
lose it to the back court. So once Bager touched it,

(01:18:57):
it was back court violation. Turned it back over to
the generals, Anderson hayes it brings it across here, guarded
by stone Teeth. Harrison goes hard to the right head,
gets all the way to the rib and I think
they're gonna get Stone Teeth.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
Called for the pump.

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
It was Mader reaching in. Coach Beard going to events here,
he's getting harder. Williams he saw Brown.

Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
The place is the Siegers. Yeah, Wan Miller's had a
nice game tonight. Brown is in right.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Yeah, he's Shaw Brown, the JV point guard who's really
come on throughout.

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
The year has both a wal hiller the shooter excited
to see his growth in the next two years.

Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
He did not get to play the other night. He
was one of them was sick, did not make the
trip to McLean, so it probably would have played a
lot to the other night.

Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
Drop the belt's pass there. The white even shot his block.
Find that or out come of stone teak with it.
Stone King now beligans back out the stone King soon
King get into the middle, kicks it out.

Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
Carter Williams.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Carter Williams tries to drive hard on the baseline, and
they're going to say step on the baseline and take
it the other watch.

Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
Berdie Barrera checks it for Sheriffan with the running clock.
We're all the way up to two point fifty nile.

Speaker 4 (01:20:21):
Here in the fourth quarter, Badger came back in maybe
as a senior, giving him a maybe score a couple
more points, all right, I steal with him.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Tried to get a back door there, picked off there
by Badger. Badger into the open court, herds and pitches
at the Williams. Williams tries to get it into the middle.
His mid rates jumper.

Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
No good.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Good rebound there for Barrera hold into the middle, drops
a bounce pass, try to get sprinkled coke the wat.

Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
Got a bow there. I believe I was.

Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
Carter two minutes remaining, throwing in bounds there to Anderson
Anderson a top sprinkler.

Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
I'll get back to Anderson.

Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
Ederson threw the legs cross shoulder, goes into the quarner
told cooked away there by Brown Sheridan gets it back
now hold turns down to three. Tries to drive hard
of the rim, lay up th good. It's gonna be
the last touch by Sheridan.

Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
Got more t J.

Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
Connors into the game. Also got Tucker shank for Sheridan.
Suit Currently for Chili Cothe, you've got browned legged Badger
Williams and Debtor.

Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Is Brown will bring it up.

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Browned off the high ball street from Debtor, goes left
quarter to Bager back up top Debtor.

Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Debtor drops it off there for Carte Liggan.

Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
Carte Ligan on the penetration, try to kick it out
the brown to food up over his head into the
student session.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Fourteen turnovers for Jola conthe but you can't tell by
the score.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
I come shared it there hard, drive to the baseline
and throw it away picked off by netder Carte. Legan
will bring it up right here behind the bike, up
top the badger. Twenty nine seconds remaining. See if Chila

(01:22:47):
Cothe just holds the clock out, here goes right inside
the Leggan Legan trying to break through count you're going
to badger. Nine seconds of counting. They thought over to
Carter Williams and a bot throw with the Greg here
next to me, so.

Speaker 5 (01:23:07):
I was gonna shoot it over. I was gonna shoot
it too.

Speaker 3 (01:23:11):
With the ruddy claw. That's gonna be the final puzzle.
Philicoffee whens it sixty six forty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
They'll advance to Friday night to have a third crack

Welcome back to Chillicothy High School.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
Shank Holmes, Greg big Im here on the postgame of
tonight's tournament action with the Chilicothy Cavaliers coming out with
a big time win over Shared at sixty six twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
Oh advanced to Friday Night to Mimi Trace the.

Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Get the third opportunity this year against the fac and
the undefeat of the Mimi Trace Panthers and was pretty
efficient night overall the offensive end for Chillicothe.

Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
Take us through the numbers there and what jumps out at.

Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
You, well, uh, turnovers. But in that pace of a game,
I don't think that surprises me totally. You take Friday night,
you go to Miami Trace, you can't afford this many turnovers,
but the pace will be entirely different than Miami Trace.
But with this face Chillicothe, they had him with fourteen turnovers.
They had shared him with thirteen turnovers. And that's about
maybe with the pace that we had in that game,

(01:27:27):
what you would expect. Shooting wise, again, a little bit
of a negative Cabs. Maybe that may turnover. Shooting wise,
they shot lights out, and again I'll repeat the fact
they on transition, they got to the whole. You got
a lot of close shots. They got the ball inside,
they were patient. The only wound up shooting eleven threes.
They only shot four threes in the second half. But
for Sheridan, I had them twelve out of forty four.

(01:27:48):
Each team I had taken forty four shots. The Generals
made twelve, the Cabs made twenty seven. And that's why
you get a running clock twelve of forty four, twenty
seven percent. For Sheridan, they kind of got in a
hurry with that track. It rushed them. They didn't get
a lot of good shots. They let them play when
they went inside. They struggled a bit. At twelve of
forty four, Sheridan was only one out of twelve from

(01:28:10):
the three point line, four out of eight from the
charity stripe. For the cavaliers total wines, I had him
twenty seven of forty four. They shot sixty one percent.
They were five out of eleven from three so that's
just under fifty percent. And they wound up seven of
fourteen from the charity stripe for fifty percent. So you
shoot sixty one percent seven to fourteen. The foul line

(01:28:33):
wasn't great, but sixty one percent shooting. Their effort was tremendous,
and I give Coach Beard and Coach Stoneking credit. I
thought that some of the things they did defensively had
a big effect on Sheridan.

Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
You know, over the years, I've heard you talk about
this throughout the year. Now that we're here, I think.

Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
It's well worth taking the time to break this down
for the fans. When you look at the past of
the four divisions, whenever Chili Coffee was D two, they
were elipe.

Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
I mean they were one of the elite Division.

Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Two state in two thousand and eight.

Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Now when they went Division one, they all of a sudden,
became one of the smallest Division one teams in the
entire state when they went to the seven divisions. I
think what most people did not understand it was for
the bigger schools. It wasn't necessarily for a lot of
schools that we know here in the Southeast District.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
It was for Chilicothee, you know, it was for that
type of school.

Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
So the postseason opportunity not just now because bind the
trades is really good, You're gonna still play good teams,
but moving forward in a lot of different sports, don't
you feel like this is an opportunity for the Tilikothie
athletic program to really start to identify itself more as
a Southeast District team.

Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
They could really really.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Take off field the years of conn Yeah, for many years,
and it was pretty much chillicoth and Logan had to
wind up in basketball to go up and play in
Columbus in Central District, you wind up a lot of
times playing in the bigger occ schools. The one year
they played Fawn at Ridge, who was one of the
most talented teams I've ever seen in that little gym
in the inner city of own A Ridge. But those

(01:30:09):
were the matchups they were getting. They played Old Tangy Orange,
they're one of the top teams in the state the
last three years. Played Newark as big all time, one
of the all time winning his programs in Ohio.

Speaker 5 (01:30:18):
Those are the teams they played. And you know, it's
one of the things mister Hammond was to tell.

Speaker 4 (01:30:23):
We were talking before the season started and I asked
him and he said, yeah, we're we're Division three and
there's only six schools plus six in the East. It'll
be a whole different Oh, they got to go be
Miami Trace. But yeah, these are matchups that this team.
It's got to be fun in the tournament rather than
have to go up and really play those schools with
four thousand kids in them.

Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Well, I'm glad you said it. That one I want
to be clear byby Trace is outstanding. Well, the point
I'm making is you're.

Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Playing absolutely district team, yes, and not Newark.

Speaker 5 (01:30:51):
Right, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
So it's just I'm not even talking about the now
as much as i am moving forward. I think this
is a chance for the chili coffee out and I
know that's what you meant. Yeah, identify, So you know,
let's take a look at some individual scoring while we're
waiting on coach Beard to come out on the winning side.

Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
There for Chilicoffee.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
I know, Greg and I have just been real pleased
with Kate Cox's improvement.

Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Throughout the year. He scores a team high nineteen to night.
He's the only Cavalier in double figures.

Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
All right, I bet you're part camp Badger also had twelve,
So Cox with nineteen, Badger with twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
And then you get out through the scoring.

Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
It's eight for Carte Liggan, eight for two for Stone Kaks,
seven for Wan Miller, seven for noa net.

Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
Or five for Andrew Hammon. So a lot of cavaliers,
oh yeah, getting involved.

Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
And I guess the staff that jumps out at me
I mentioned there earlier in the evening. Sheridan comes in
average at fifty eight points a night on the offensive end,
and they score twenty nine nine points for Tice, Whiteman
leads the way for the Generals, six for Logan Russell,
six for Evan Anderson and the two apiece for Corey

(01:32:02):
hold Owen Kane's Colden's sprinkle and saying, Lord's looks like
we have.

Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
You didn't have it ahead of me in the microphone house.

Speaker 4 (01:32:13):
Coach Beard's checking the book, but he's back out here
with us and just putting foot and four and we'll
be ready to go and a chance to talk to
Coach Beard. Got to be pretty happy guy tonight as
Pat joins us here on our postgame show as the
Cavs win at sixty six twenty nine, and wow, uh, Pat,

(01:32:34):
I don't know where to start, but you guys played.
I know you've been a lot of illness, You've played
with a lot of energy. Let's start number one. I
thought your decision, the coaching staff's decision, the one two
two Cam got a couple of quick founds, But that
one two two, uh, I thought was a tremendous strategy.
I thought it really when you didn't get the steals,
but I thought it sped them up, and you talked

(01:32:54):
about taking quick threes and you got them sped up.
And then I thought eventually transition was your best off.
But the one two two I thought was a great
job by the staff to come out of that tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:33:05):
It really worked well.

Speaker 23 (01:33:06):
Yeah, so we in the past couple of weeks, we
knew going into tournament time we had to do something
different defensive, we had throw the new rink in that
most teams hadn't seen.

Speaker 8 (01:33:15):
Uh.

Speaker 23 (01:33:15):
So we got together the staff and started talking about
you know, we've always wanted to press all year. I
just felt like we could not do it full court
because the rotations were too far.

Speaker 12 (01:33:24):
Uh.

Speaker 23 (01:33:25):
Then we decided, hey, let's try something three quarter court.
So we just moved our five hundred from full court
to three quarter court. And what that does now, it
condenses the rotational lanes. It makes them a little shorter,
easier to get to, and I think our guys feel
a lot more comfortable that way. We were able to
clog some things up and we really did a good
job tonight. And that one two two said speeding them up,

(01:33:45):
getting their hands on some balls and then making them
shoot quick shots.

Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
And along with that, I'll let's Shane take the next question.
I thought you guys were well prepared. You could tell
you're a well coached because the kids were very attentive
that win it. When they got the ball down, they
knew who their man was and they got backman demand
and they adjusted.

Speaker 5 (01:34:02):
That it was something that was they were well preferred to.

Speaker 12 (01:34:04):
Lot.

Speaker 5 (01:34:04):
The kids did a nice job of that as well.

Speaker 16 (01:34:05):
Yes, that was one thing that we talked about.

Speaker 23 (01:34:07):
We knew that we wanted the pressure, but we also
need to make sure we have four balance.

Speaker 12 (01:34:11):
Uh.

Speaker 23 (01:34:11):
And then you know some of those cases where we
were one, two, two guys who are just matching up
with different guys.

Speaker 10 (01:34:16):
Uh.

Speaker 16 (01:34:17):
And I think we have the type of team that
we can match up.

Speaker 23 (01:34:20):
I get for a possession or two while we're pressing,
and we can match up with anybody.

Speaker 16 (01:34:24):
So I think our guys did a really good job of.

Speaker 23 (01:34:26):
Being patient, being disciplined, staying at home, and recognizing where
they wanted to get to basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
You know, Coach, this may not even be the right
time for this question, but it's just something we were
talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:34:37):
I would love to get your perspective on it in
terms of the psyche of your team.

Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
The seventh Division format it was made forad for that
type of school, and we were just discussing obviously, minding
trace an incredible basketball team.

Speaker 3 (01:34:53):
It's gonna be an incredible task.

Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
To go on the road beat them, but it sure
beats the old school way of like playing to work
or that type of school. So if you kind of follow,
we're a floor with that question use since for Chili
Coffee boys basketball and really Chili Coffee athletics in general,
it kind of is a is a new start here
in terms of where this could really be a springboard

(01:35:17):
for the Cavalier athletic.

Speaker 16 (01:35:18):
You're absolutely correct.

Speaker 23 (01:35:20):
Our guys know how tough it's been the past three years,
knowing at the end of the season we got to
travel up north and go play a Newark or a
gay handed Lincoln or Upper Arlington where we're just outmatched.

Speaker 16 (01:35:30):
Right now, we're in a division where we see our opponents.

Speaker 23 (01:35:33):
I mean, we we really get to play Sheridan, but
Sharingan played some common opponents that we played, so we
knew what we were capable of if we get the
win tonight. We talked about making sure we get the
win tonight so we can get a rematch with Washington
or me and Miami Chase. We played Miami Trase twice.
We had them actually beat here a couple of miscues
late in the game. So our guys now believe when
they step on the floor during tournament time they have

(01:35:55):
a chance to win.

Speaker 16 (01:35:56):
And that makes a big difference as.

Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
You come into the practice Floorida. Now, obviously there's no
there's not a lot of secrets. Both teams know each
other pretty well. Take me through the next, say forty
eight hours. What what's the idea there?

Speaker 8 (01:36:08):
What?

Speaker 23 (01:36:09):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
Get the kids of the right mindset? Got to going
over the little wrinkle that you want to throw up
my head? Yeah, what do we got there?

Speaker 23 (01:36:16):
So we're just going to continue to work on little
wrinkles we put in. You know, we've got a couple
of defensive things that we want to try to do
to kind of limit Guthrie's opportunities really quick inside opportunities.
You know, it's basically right now at this point in
this season, it's understanding us, us being executed the game plan,
execute offensively, be patient, get good shots, and just rebound

(01:36:38):
the box out and get the ball up the floor. So,
you know, right now, for our kids, we're not healthy.
We've got several kids that are sick. Really our focus
right now is getting them healthy, getting their mindset, keeping
their mindset on track. Don't get ahead of yourself because
we have a big task on a Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:36:54):
I'll stand great, get anything else.

Speaker 4 (01:36:56):
Last point, And I thought, I keep telling him because
I'm an old guy, and I keep guys when somebody
goes one on four, I just I want to get
out and help you.

Speaker 20 (01:37:03):
You know that.

Speaker 4 (01:37:04):
But but your kids are talented and several of those
finding myself, you know what, Cayten probably can go one
on four. But my point being as this season is
going on, and even tonight in an up tempo game,
I thought your kids have adjusted so well not to
get in a hurry, not to know that, hey it's
one on three, I can't do it, pull them back out,
and then all of a sudden, Caden's got a one

(01:37:24):
on one.

Speaker 5 (01:37:24):
He can beat Cooper.

Speaker 4 (01:37:26):
The other night at Greenfield, Cooper found out he could
beat the zone, did it three times in a row.
I just thought mentally recognizing that, I know it's something
you've gotten on him.

Speaker 5 (01:37:34):
That's something that they've improved so much.

Speaker 16 (01:37:36):
Yeah, they have this game.

Speaker 23 (01:37:39):
We are psilicothe I have a bunch of guys, and listen, honestly,
they've really bought into what the coaching staff is trying
to get to them. And winning big like we win
tonight makes a little easier for us as coaches to
keep nailing and keep harping one of the things we
want to get done. But let's face it, I've got
a bunch of high school kids. At some point they

(01:37:59):
can lose their mind and then we're talking something different.
So I don't want to jump the gun as far
as saying that we've matured and we've got there, because
we're way far from that.

Speaker 16 (01:38:07):
But there was a big step forward. Tonight. We'll be
able to watch this film.

Speaker 23 (01:38:11):
I'll be able to show them, you know, with being patient,
extra passes, we'll get better looks.

Speaker 4 (01:38:16):
I know what I was my son as a coach
and knows Patta was asking me there night and night,
and so one thing they do they want on and
he goes, Dad, You realize when you played you were
so slow. You couldn't go through the two guys Patscott
players that can go through three guys. You got to
understand their athletic ability versus Sure.

Speaker 23 (01:38:31):
Yes, but that's the thing though. All of my guys
think they could beat their guy off the drip.

Speaker 3 (01:38:37):
And that's okay.

Speaker 16 (01:38:37):
There's a time for that, there's a time not to
do it.

Speaker 5 (01:38:39):
Yes, win, correct you.

Speaker 16 (01:38:41):
I appreciate it, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
Right, good win coach. It is a good win. And
and again, uh not sure what the schedule is gonna be.
We hope to be all that the game. Yeah, but
we will certainly make sure that we get that information out,
uh so that we go. You know, Greg, I'll give
you the final thought on on the Miami Trace game.
You've seen Miami Trace twice. I feel like ChIL Coffee

(01:39:08):
went toe to toe with the bow times. As coach
just said, they all but just gave the game away
here at Hole. Tell me what you think of that
third matchup?

Speaker 4 (01:39:19):
Well, I think, uh, I think one of the big
keys is how do you match up against the Guthrie.
I mean, he's heard them both times. He handles the ball,
he's got soft hands. Once he gets that big body
the low post, it's tough for anybody.

Speaker 5 (01:39:32):
You know, who do you guard him to? You double team?

Speaker 4 (01:39:35):
And I thought, I think one of the other keys
that the guy I really like in a candidate, it's
the running back off the football team. Uh that is
so athletic and rebound so well, yep, Julian, I will
think of a bit.

Speaker 8 (01:39:51):
He is.

Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
The freshman guard's tremendous that they have handles the ball. Well,
I don't think we can have fourteen turner, but uh,
you know, Miami Trace, Uh, they've gotten knocked off in
the tournament pretty early the last couple of years. Logan
help beat them last year at Miami Trace. If I
remember right, I think I did that game, and uh
so you know, Uh, it's a it's a situation where

(01:40:17):
they're gonna have to play well, keep the turnovers down.
But I do think my final comment would be Miami Trace,
they haven't been beat. They got to be a good team.
I think they're long, they get their hands on a
lot of passes.

Speaker 19 (01:40:27):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
If if we can keep turnovers down maybe under ten
and uh and do what Pat was just talking about,
recognizing with a chance to go to the basket. Uh,
I think they've got a chance. And I think mentally, uh,
Miami Trace. You know sometimes when you're undefeated, that first
tournament game can be kind of you've seen it, it's
it can be kind of tough.

Speaker 5 (01:40:45):
Maybe we can use that to our advantage.

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
Well, certainly gets a league team as tandled as Chila
Copy getting that third opportunity and you know, look, Miami
Trace plays a tempo the whay. If you get off
to a good start, you can hang around for thirty
two bit. Miami Trace played a lot and we did
that here.

Speaker 4 (01:41:00):
We played the tempo, hung with them and then dag
down the stretch. I'm trying to remember. I think they
hit a shot down at the end and put them
up out five seconds to go ahead.

Speaker 5 (01:41:07):
Yeah, and then we couldn't get a shot off the
end of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:41:09):
But yeah, so well again, awesome night for the Cavaliers.
It's a it's a it's a it's a big time win.
You survive in advance this time of year, and they'll
be on to the next round against Miami Trace this
Friday night.

Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
So on that note, we'll say thank you to Nathan
back in studio. Thank you, Greg.

Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
This is Shane Colton's final score for the final time.
It's a winning night to start the postseason for the Cavaliers.
