We had a great week and a lot of audience participation.  Thank you so much for calling in and sharing your life with me.  We talked about those weird things you remember from when you were a kid and you still can't get them out of your head.  We had a good discussion about eating and drinking items at the grocery store BEFORE you pay for them.  And we had our good friend Deep Eddy Dave in to talk about the new Deep Eddy Vodka Pineapple and the end of Dry January.

Thanks for listening!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank at this all that's good.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
We miss any of the Saint Pierre's show this week,
don't worry. We You've got you covered. It's only the
good stuff. On the Saint Pierre on Air.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Podcast What's Happening? Hey, it's Saint Pierre and it's Friday,
January thirty. First, what a week we had here on
the Saint Pierre Show on ninety three point one WPOC.
First of all, I just want to start off this
podcast by saying thank you for listening, thank you for
sharing some of your day with me and checking it out.
I appreciate that. I think it's a cool idea to

(00:29):
take a look back at the week that was and
give you any moments maybe you missed during the show,
and give you a laugh and hopefully wrap up your
week on a good note. Right, That's the goal of
this whole thing, give you the best moments of the
Saint Pierre Show. And I think we had fun this week.
So I love the fact that you guys are calling in,
you're leaving talkback messages on the free iHeartRadio app, You're

(00:50):
also sending us text messages. I just love that you're
participating and you're sharing some of your life with me
every afternoon on WPOC. So let's go back to Monday.
Our big topic of conversation involved things that are stuck
in your brain, like those random facts, those just weird
things that, for whatever reason, you cannot get them out

(01:11):
of your head. I shared a story about how I
still remember my best friend's home phone number from when
we grew up. I haven't talked to this guy. I
haven't talked to Jamie since probably nineteen ninety eight, maybe
nineteen ninety nine when we graduated. It's been a long time,
and I still have his home phone number memorized in
my head. What is something that you still have memorized

(01:33):
in your head that you just can't get rid of.
Asking about the most useless thing that's in your head
that you still have memorized for some reason. Let's go
to the phone's hi WPOC, Hey.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Say, Peter, how are you to say? After do? Sir?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I'm doing great? How are you?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I'm where you asked for useless information?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yes, sir.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
When I was in grade school, a teacher taught us
how to spell the word or prismatic by remembering a
brag and house might eat saw ice cream.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Oh my gosh. That's so involved, and it stuck with
you though.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
The first letter of each word. Ye, it tells you
how to spell arithmetic.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
That's wild. That's like the like the music scales, like
every good boy deserves fudge or whatever.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Right. I'm seventy one years old and I still remember
that to this day.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
It's funny. The only reason I know how to spell
Cincinnati is there was a Babes and toilet movie like
a long time ago with Drew Barrymore and I think
Keanu Reeves was in it. But they had a song
about Cincinnati and the whole thing was ci N with
C I N C I N N A t I Cincinnati.
And that's how I know how to spell Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
This is Angie.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Hi.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
How are you doing.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I'm doing great, Angie. Thanks for Colin. What can I
do for you?

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Well, you had something pop into my head when I
heard you spelling.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
So did you ever watch Alice back in the day
and foot off of Alice?

Speaker 1 (02:55):
You know what? I have seen it, but god, it's
been a long time.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
And whenever she would spell Mississippi, she started, am I
crooked letter, crooked letter.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I back, guys, Oh.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
My gosh, I actually have a vague memory of that.
That's so funny.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, that has stuck with me forever.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Let's go back to the phone. So here, I got
Donna on the phone. What do you still have stuck
in your head?

Speaker 4 (03:15):
In middle school?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
My fine features thought, Roy Jesus right, And.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
It's the tellers of a rainbow from.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Top to bottom.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I was actually just telling my daughter about this. She
has no idea what I'm talking about. That's perfect, Donn,
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, we were drawing a rainbow and I was like, yeah,
do you red? Orange, yellow, green, blue, and to go
violet Roy gibeb And of course my four year old
looks at me with like, what are you talking about? Dad?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
My dad told me German.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
At a young age, okaya.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Bra with keep them from flossing. Oh, I know how
to say massoline.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Too, Guten schlick.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
You're like, why do I know these words? What is
this going to do for me? Well?

Speaker 5 (03:56):
I don't. I think that it was just a joke
that my dad told me when I was younger, I said,
and it's always stuck with me.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I have to admit that it took me a second
to realize that it was a joke. I was like, Oh,
is that how you say it? Oh boy, put one
over me? So dead, it's so good.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It's only the good stuff. The Saint Pierre's Show three
to seven on ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Those are great. I love that so much, and again,
thank you for participating in the show. Let's skip ahead
to Wednesday because I had a dilemma with my wife.
We were talking about whether or not you can open
up food or drink and eat it in the grocery
store before you go and pay for it, and we
got some interesting calls. Some people had some interesting opinions
about that. Let's see what do you guys think about it?

(04:37):
This is Dan Hey, damn, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
I'm not much so Yeah, I used to work at
a grocery store.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
So a answer your question.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Is, as long as you're going to pay for it,
you can eat it before. As long as you're an adult,
that's fine. If it's a kid, which I was, I've
witnessed this where they don't get what they want so
they just take.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
It out of the wrapper. There's a different story, right.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I got you. Yeah, we were at shopping. My wife
and daughter and I my daughter was thirsty, so I
opened the water bottle. We were going to pay for it,
but I let her drink and my wife is like,
you can't do that. I'm like, I mean, we're going
to pay for it.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Like, yeah, as long as you're going to pay for it,
I think that's that's kind of a universal rule. As
long as you're going to pay for it, it's fine, right, right, Hi?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Who's this?

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
It's Lauren. Lauren. Are you allowed to eat or drink
something at the grocery store before you pay for it?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
No?

Speaker 4 (05:21):
That is extremely disrespectful and rude. If you are hungry
while you're at the grocery store.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
You made the first mistake and did not eat before
you went grocery shopping.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
So congrats.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
You now have to be hours of extra groceries in
your card that you that you.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Did not need, fifty dollars of extra groceries, and you
have to wait till you pay for them to eat them.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
It's so rude. Bought the food, yeah, yeah, it's open
up before you need it, you pay for it. Yeah,
work outs from that's called shop listing.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
See, this is why we're having the question right now,
because that's what my wife was saying. She was like, no,
it's stealing if you haven't paid for it yet, And
I was like, well we haven't left, like we still
can pay for it.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
You know, the thing is as soon as the fact.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
It's only the good stuff, so good. On the stre
on Air podcast.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Thursday, January thirtieth was a weird day. It was a
weird day. We all woke up to see the news
of that horrible plane crash. The plane was hit by
a helicopter and sixty four people on the plane died.
I believe everybody from the helicopter died as well, and
just horrifying stories. It was a sad day. Then the
Justin Tucker news story came out that also just kind
of left a, I don't know, a weird feeling on

(06:29):
a lot of people around here in Baltimore, and I just,
I don't know, This whole week had some weird story.
So I was just looking for some happiness, some excitement,
some things that were making you guys happy, and you delivered.
You called in with some really great stories that definitely
cheered me up. On Thursday afternoon.

for me.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Yes, I do. I have a genital heart disease nephew,
and he got really sick.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Unfortunately during Christmas time.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
However, he recovered fully. He's back in school, he's being
his normal five.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Year old self and we're just so blessed.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Oh that makes me so happy the way that story. Sorry,
I was like, wait, I thought I said good news,
like I want good news. I'm so glad that turned
around and that he's doing great five years old too.
That's a big battle to go through at such a
young age.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yes, and you know the voice for Olaf.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Yes, right, so he loves Olaf.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
And the actor who does the voice for Olaf.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
I forgot his name. He actually called him out and
was like saying.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Congratulations, you did it. You're so strong in the Olof voice.
And he was so happy.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
That's awesome fall for Olof. It's so great. The actor's
name is Josh Gadd and I can totally see him
doing that. He's just one of those people that would
answer the call every time.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yes, so phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Well, thank you, that is great news.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Girl at home.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
She and her husband alone delivered her baby girl. Baby
girl's fine. My daughter, granddaughter's great granddaughter's fine. And I'm
so happy I have a great great granddaughter.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Oh that's amazing. They did it at home alone? Was
it a surprise. Did she come unexpected? Came early? Yes,
came early.

That is good news. That is good news. I know.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I had to share that because I found that out
this morning.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
So good, it's so good.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
It's only the good stuff. The Saint Pierre's Show, three
to seven on ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Thank you again for calling. Thank you again for being
a part of my show and participating. I love you
guys for that. All right, Friday, that's today Friday. We
have my good friend Dave hawkrind and Dave better known
as Deep Eddie Dave. He's the Deep Eddie Vodka rep
for Maryland and just been crushing it out there with
his sales. But he stopped by to talk about their
new flavor, Pineapple. Why was he here, Well, because January

(10:00):
thirty first is the last day of Dry January, so
we thought we'd have a little bit of fun with
that idea and give you some thoughts for what you
can do on February first. But right now, I do
want to shift gears because I've got a special guest
in studio with me to celebrate the official end of
Dry January. My good friend Dave hawk Run, otherwise known
as Deep Betty.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Dave.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
Oh, thanks, Jeff. My liver speaks for itself.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
If you go into a bar around Baltimore or even
down on the Eastern Shore, honestly, and you see Deep
Betty behind the bar, it's safe to say that Dave
has probably been there. And one of the reasons I
thought about you today, Dave, is that you all just
launched a new flavor.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Absolutely, we have pineapple that just hit the market like
this week.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
It starts February first, okay, so it's not like out yet.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
It was like, we've got some pre sales in the market,
so you can go to your local liquor store and
buy it right now if you want to.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I was reading that the most popular cocktail across the
country is the margarita, but here in Maryland it's the crush,
and I would imagine Deep Betty has a big part
in that success.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Absolutely, Like the crush has made this brand so popular
here because fresh fruit. So we say we crush it
for you, so we make a better crush than probably
any other vodka you might.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Try out there. How me you wrote that?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
No way.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Okay, let's get into some Luke Bryan here and we'll
come back. I do want to taste this and see
what this pineapple Deep Tty is all about. Okay, but
here's what Brian ninety three point one WPOC. We'll be
right back with Deep Tty. Dave, Dave. I have to say,
I just sampled this Deep Betty pineapple. I'm always astounded.
Like the second I opened it and smelled it. It
smells like you just gave me a thing of like
pineapple juice, Like it smells there's no I don't even

(11:32):
smell the alcohol in this, Like how does how is
this possible?

Speaker 6 (11:35):
So it's we're the only company that actually gets real
fruit juice, and we clarify it down so there's no
pulp in the bottle. But that is clarified pineapple juice
that we put in there ten times distilled regular vodka.
So every single flavor we make is like that, and
it is it's almost a drink in the bottle, but
it's dangerous if you do it that way.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
I've had a lot of different flavored vodka's, flavored beverages,
and it just there's something about the deep betty flavor process,
like the grapefruit that I've had a million times, a
lemon like I just I cannot understand. I can't compute
how you guys do it in such a perfect manner
that nobody else has been able to capture.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yet.

Speaker 6 (12:11):
Yeah, it's good for you guys. You can visit the
place in Austin. It's a couple of minutes outside of Austin, Texas,
if you're ever down there. But yes, we get fruit
from all over the world to make sure we're doing
it the right way. So when you buy lemon vodka,
it is lemon clarified juice in that vodka makes a
hell of a crush with pineapple.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
The second I took a sip of this, it immediately
took me back to Hawaii, where like every drink I
had in Hawaii, had pineapple of some kind.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
Yeah, for sure, Pineapple's now a season, Jeff. The snow
is gleaving and pineapple is the season.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Well, today is January thirty first, So if you are
doing dried January right now and your mouth is watering,
you can make it through tonight. I have faith in you.
But tomorrow, maybe you give this deep Betty pineapple a try. Hey, Dave,
thank you so much. I really do appreciate you coming
by and letting us give.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
This a try.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
It's only the good stuff, so good, so good. On
the Saint Pierre on Air Podcast.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
All right, that wraps up the best show, the first
best of the Saint Pierre on Air Show on ninety
three point one WPOC. So thank you for listening. As always,
thank you for hanging out with me weekdays three to
seven on ninety three point one WPOC. Maybe we'll catch
