Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lots going on today. I'm going to we'll ever give
the show rundown for you real quick.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
One thirty.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Eno Sarrus is going to join us from the Athletic
We'll talk all things baseball with Eno. That's coming up
at one thirty. We'll find out we talked with him
last week one week you go today about Kirby, George
Kirby and what he was looking for in terms of
him coming back off the injured list. Velocity is what
he said. I can tell you right now he's had velocity,
sure as hell, hasn't had command. So we'll talk about
that with him coming up, among other things in baseball.
(00:31):
That's coming up at one thirty two o'clock, our friend
Corbyn Smith. As we are in the middle of OTA's
for the Seahawks, not that we can see. We see
him starting next week, but we'll get through a bunch
of stuff with Corbyn, talking all things Seahawks football with
him coming up at two pm today. I want to
spend some time on college football today and the there's
(00:52):
a couple of things. One you want to tease this,
let me give it to you right now. Because I said,
Husky fans, I'll give you these kickoffs and some some
for the Cougar as well. Early first month or three
weeks of the season's kickoff times announced by the Big
Ten this after or this morning, Washington. Well, here's the thing.
(01:13):
If you loved the pac twelve after dark days in
the late games, then you're happy as a Husky fan.
If you're Dick Baird and all you think every college
football game in the history man should be played at
twelve thirty in the afternoon, well you're not going to
be happy unless you're an Oregon fan because they play
early games because they're Oregon. But if you're a Washing
(01:33):
Washington fan, you won't like this. First two games of
the year eight pm kickoffs Colorado State August thirtieth, you
see Davis September sixth, both kicking off at eight o'clock
at Husky Stadium, both broadcast on the Big Ten network.
The Apple Cup time is now solid. We thought we
(01:54):
were told it's either going to be four thirty or five.
It will indeed before thirty September twentieth, Washington State host
Washington Martin Stadium and Pullman, and that game will air
on CBS not CBS Sports Net. Gary Parrish is home
for basketball. Nope, CBS. I think what is Gary call
(02:14):
CBS Network of Stars Americans watch Network, right, that's what's
that's the Apple Cup as well. One other Washington game
that we should point out, the Rutgers game on on
October eleventh, a Saturday, has now been flexed to a
Friday game. So Washington Rutgers, second year in a row,
will play on a Friday, this time Friday, October tenth,
(02:35):
six o'clock and that is on FS one, the home
of the Herd, Colin Cowherd.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Leave it at that. Okay, So there you go. Those
are the games.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Other college football news, I'm gonna get into great sound,
great great stuff yesterday from Petros with Dick Fane talking
about the USC Notre Dame thing, and if you haven't
been following along, I'm kind of spit on a bunch
of college football things here. If you haven't been falling along,
Notre Dame wants to still play the series with USC.
(03:09):
Lincoln Riley is basically a candy ass and he wants
no part of it. Why because his schedule's too tough. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, fella,
your schedule's too tough.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Now that you're in the Big ten. Weird, very weird.
I think. Oh, by the way, has Penny called yeah,
well you just got it in. That's why who I
was just talking to less than a minute into it.
So see, that's what we do here, That's what we do.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
That's what we do. Like there's some that you know,
they do you do you? We do this, we have
this is, this is It's been documented too. By the way,
it goes back to the Kevin Shockey days. And if
I have to call him Honody argues about this, I'll
have to call him, we'll frowhim on the air and
we'll point this out. This goes back to way back
when we are the show that has the highest winning
(03:57):
percentage for for EQ. Yeah, I mean it's and it's
really not close. It's really not debatable, to be honest
with you. I mean, it just isn't. I don't know
what some people want to debate it. Sometimes I can
tell you right now, it's not debatable. Nobody has the
same success rate that this particular show has from well
twelve to three, one to three, whatever they tell me
(04:18):
to do on a given day, it's it's we have
the highest winning percentage period.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
End of story. I want to say that since I've
been here and this is my fourth year. Yes, by
the way, yes, we've only had to roll it over
like once or twice in the four years that I've
been here, like total. That's like we do it like
for just.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Any if it happens, it's an audity we I mean,
I guess my apologies would be anybody listening in the
two you know for the two o'clock you're always a
two o'clock. You're always goingna wine Hunred Bucks. Yeah, a
lot of times. Now, I guess MJ and kid. We're
three for three.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Today, we're seven for seven is the station?
Speaker 1 (04:51):
So okay, I mean super I like to see us
have money rolled over and it'll happen. It'll happen, Yeah,
it'll happen. I just again, text your first and last
name before nine four or five one. Here's the other
part of it. I didn't mention this much like Penny,
make sure you listen at two o'clock, because we will
give you the name to call in write at two o'clock.
Unlike things like national contests that we give away money
(05:14):
sometimes and all those things that I forget about always
and Andrews has to tell me my ear, Hey, you
forgot this a keyword. I don't forget the EQUC note, No,
we do not. And Andrews is in charge of giving the
name out on the air. Make sure you tune it
in two o'clock, four, nine, four or five one first
and last name and the see you're texting from, and
we'll give away another hundred bucks. Okay, thanks mal Queen Casino,
by the way, Anderal Queen Casino, the betting capital of
(05:36):
the Northwest. Come down to the beautiful EQUC Sportsbook to bet,
watch and win on all of the games.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
All right.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I'll get to Mike Leach in a moment. But it
ties in together with the USC Notre Dame stuff, and
it really ties in together with college athletics as it is.
And I heard Dick say this. This will be one
of the times that Dick and I agree. I think
we're both kind of college football purists and fans. And
there's something about college athletics, men's basketball and football that
(06:04):
are just special. They're really pushing now more and more
of a push, you see, to get to the NCAA
tournament expanded to seventy teams, seventy two teams. Whatever it
might be just asinine, just a ridiculous, ridiculous notion. Nobody
wants to see it. It's not needed, it's just it's moronic.
Keep it out as it was. Going to sixty eight
(06:25):
was dumb enough as it is, sixty four even, or
seventy two even worse, seventy six stupid. Those are the
things you should There's things in life you should not
mess with, and March madus to be one of them.
College football is such an evolving sport, used to be.
We joked about it with Mark earlier with MJ. He
asked me about, you know, Thunder winning an NBA title,
(06:47):
where the Husky's winning a national championship. As I said,
I take I've resigned myself to the Thunder winning. So
I really at this point don't care like it's gonna happen.
I will care when it happens, yes, but right now,
just resign myself to that. You know, Washington win a
national championship, shared national championship in nineteen ninety one. How
old were you, Andrews in ninety one?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I was negative seven years old, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
So they did win at ninety one though they shared
it with the University of Miami Washington. Winning a title
would just be awful. You know why, because this time
they'd actually earn it on the field.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Were you afraid in twenty three? All terrified that what happened? Yeah,
I listen, you know me, I'm a Panics fan. Yeah,
and I think you liked Dbora as well. I liked
Kalin a lot. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I hated the fact that I liked both of those guys,
but I met him at the Sports Awards, I interviewed
him for TV. Both really likable guys pissed me off
to no end. I wish I didn't like them. It's
easier when they're terrible guys, terrible people, terrible human beings.
And then one of those guys are They're both good guys.
I liked Roma Dunesa, he's a stud.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's a fun team.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, and so yeah, I was terrified because I thought
they were better.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And if they did win that, then there's no recourse.
You can't make fun of the fact. I know the
KRUZEVI want either shut up. That's what we're talking about.
We can't make You can't make fun of the fact
that it's how do I put this? You can't make
fun of the fact that it is a shared title
or voted on. They actually want it. But college football
(08:19):
has evolved so much. But I'm gonna go long here.
I don't want to do that. Let me get to this.
There's so much evolution in college sports now. So many
things have happened, and there's been so many changes, including
the Hall of Fame, which we'll get too later on
the show. But one of the things is the tradition
of rivalries. It shouldn't go and I've I guess I've
changed my tune a little bit after hearing this. I
(08:40):
hate the Apple Cup being played in September. I hate
the fact that we're still in bed with those guys
at Montlake, especially with who their athletic director is. I
hate all of that, But I do understand traditions and
rivalries are really important to the sport, and if we
lose all of those, then we've lost everything in the sport.
Here's Petros yesterday with Fame talking about Lincoln Riley frankly
just being afraid to continue the series with Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
There are some that support why do we have to
play Notre Dame anymore. But I doubt any of them
are deeply connected to the program. Not that I really
like to pull that card, like you're not a real trojan,
because people say that to me all the time, But
to me, one of the special things about USC football,
one of the most special things about USC football is
(09:26):
the Notre Dame rivalry, which exists because USC football was
such a shining jewel of excellence on the West Coast
for such a big part of the twentieth century. We're
talking about a rivalry that has survived World wars. And
as Brady Quinn pointed out on the radio this morning
when I was on with him, they used to take
(09:47):
a train. We want to talk about travel. In fact,
I think it was back in the fifties. One of
the seminal moments that created the USC lore of excellence
in Los Angeles was after a victory in Notre Dame.
It might have been before the fifties. I mean probably
was like the third I mean something way back, and
(10:08):
they got out of the train at Union Station in
LA if you know the city, and there was a
ticker tape parade down Broadway. Now the only kind of
parade you'd have down Broadway today is a meth head parade,
but one hundred years ago, you know, it was one
of the seminal moments in the history of the program,
the entire city greeting the team coming home on the train.
(10:31):
The point is USC Notre Dame is very special. One
of the very special things about playing at USC is
not going to Pullman, though it's great if you did it.
It's not playing in the coliseum against UNLV or something.
It's taking the field at Notre Dame, and more specifically,
(10:56):
it's taking the field at Notre Dame in the month
of October, as it's been done for one hundred years.
And that shouldn't have anything to do with conference realignment.
It should have nothing to do with the portal or
the nil or anything. In fact, to me, that was
the coolest thing about playing at USC. If you sign
with USC, you get to play on this gigantic game
(11:19):
every year against the Fighting Irish, which like it or not,
is still the shot the cradle of college football, not
to mention the fact that they're the only team in
the world cool enough or with a big enough brand
to have their own TV deal, right, I mean, how's
that worked out for the old Longhorn Network. Can I
(11:43):
tune in and see a twenty four hour Ricky Williams
and Vince Young sit up contest or something on there?
Speaker 6 (11:49):
Now?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
What happened to that? You know? And that's the second
And Texas is.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Huge and rich, and the Longhorns are the second biggest
brand in college football and Notre Dame dwarfs them because
of Catholicism and their history. So why USC would be
afraid to play them or act like they don't want
to play them, or gesture at all from their little
(12:14):
castle on the West coast toward them and go back
and forth like they might not want to play. This
rivalry is the most insulting thing to the history of
college football that I've ever I mean, yes, conference realignment, yes,
seismic change, But if we don't play USC, Notre Dame
to me, I don't think. I think they should wear
the jockstraps on the outside of their uniform, change that,
(12:37):
you know, wear the helmets backwards, change the uniforms to
the dumbass ones from any given Sunday and stop bothering
us about everything. And Lincoln Riley, who literally would be
is the engine behind this, and he literally would be
fired if it wasn't for his massive idiot buyout that
Mike Bones who resigned in disgrace a couple of years
(13:00):
back and abled. So the whole thing is just sad
and USC football. Here's the other thing, Dick. I mean,
if you guys are puffed up over in Washington about it, okay,
I mean a couple of years ago, they were a
great team and one of the most memorable seasons. Yes,
it ended tragically, but it was and you know, Calin
(13:20):
de Boor left like a week later, but it was
a really special thing. If Washington wanted to get puffed
up about this or that or say something, I'd.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Be like, okay, whatever.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
But USC, like they're going to compete for a national
championship anyway. You can't beat Maryland or Minnesota. Well, yes,
that's a great point.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
The status that USC has right now certainly is what
is not what it had in the past.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
I guess I totally agree with you.
Speaker 6 (13:48):
As a purest college football fan, I want to see
USC Notre Dame each and every year. But we do
have to realize that USC schedule is monumentally harder now
than it was five years ago.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Especially Oregon.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
What were they doing five years ago. Were they winning then?
Speaker 6 (14:10):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:11):
You know, were they winning in the Pac ten? No?
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Not since Pete Carroll was gone. And who did Pete
Carroll schedule Arkansas? They went to uh Nebraska, went to
Auburn when Auburn was the number one team in the country,
went to Kansas State. I'm just talking about stuff I
remember from the Pete cale era went to Virginia. They
went places as Sea teams would never go in their
non conference. Forget about Notre Dame. This is just how
(14:35):
they scheduled. They scheduled bravely and it never held them
back from competing for championships. And if you're fourth in
the Big Ten anyway, you're and if you I'm sorry,
you still get in the College Football Playoff. If you're
fourth in the Big Ten and you're still scared to
play Notre Dame, and if your schedule is too hard
to where you you can't play Notre Dame anymore, then
(14:56):
you should have never left for the Big Ten. And
I know why they did it, and I know why
Washington didn'ts because there was a revenue gap that was insurmountable,
and the Pac ten failed, Pac twelve failed, US all
but if that's the stipulation, you don't get to play
Notre Dame anymore because we might have to go to Rutgers.
That f you, f everybody like, this is stupidest thing
(15:18):
I've ever heard in my life. The players get paid,
Now collect your money and play Notre Dame. This is
USC football. And if the modern era is too hard
for USA to play Notre Dame anymore, then maybe USC
is a lot more like San Jose State, cal San
Diego State UCLA than they are like what they what
(15:40):
they try to project themselves to be, which is a
blue blood.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Well, under Lincoln Riley, they have been closer to that.
Speaker 5 (15:48):
No, no, I mean in his last in his last
what is it, thirty three games, he's like eighteen and fifteen.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Wow, I mean it's not it's not even close to
good enough.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Well, you mentioned big hype right now, Dick about USC
football is that they hired a GM who's saying things
that Lincoln Riley is too proud to say, which is,
we made a mistake, we need to recruit the area
and things of that nature, and that this guy is
securing a great recruiting freshman class for twenty twenty six. Yeah,
(16:22):
that's the hype. You guys have the quarterback that's going
to throw twenty five picks us that.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Love Petrus so good. You you edited that, not me,
by the way I did. Yes, okay, I made sure
that was in there. I didn't asked for that. You
edited that. After that, Dick goes like, hey, Williams is good.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
He's a Heisman candidate. I'm gonna go through. We'll touch
it later we get to a break. Yeah, the schedule's
not harder. No, not this year. Let me just double check.
Penn State, No, Ohio State, No, Let's play Washington, Washington, No, Oregon.
You would have played them anyway. Notre Dame, you would
(17:08):
have played them anyway, Perdue, Nebraska, Northwestern. I mean, come on,
Lincoln Riley, you are such I mean, jeez, you're a
sissy man.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
What is wrong with it? It just represents everything about college.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
It does.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
It's not just USC it is. It is all right.
I'll get you a break. Ino Sarrus Athletic, All Things
Mariners Baseball.
Speaker 7 (17:28):
Next, it's time for our weekly visit with Eno. Sarah's
the Athletic. The best baseball insight you'll get from a
nerd with big League hair. He likes pigs of grips,
food and beer well, always dreaming up the next big
baseball stat Brought to you by Georgetown Brewing. Tapbrew open

Speaker 1 (18:03):
You know, Sarah for the athletic brought you by Georgetown Beer,
George sown Brewing Andrews. I'll make you and eat it
both jealous. I'm heading there after the show. Oh come on,
I have a quick meeting for the mayor of Maple
Valley open and you're gonna see my man Matt Conley
down there and come.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Down and got my Mayni's.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I might have to taste a couple of things along
the way. Huh Hi, you know, how are you?
Speaker 8 (18:23):
I am delous? You're right.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
I figured you would be.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
I tell you, when you get up here at some
point for for an m's game or something, we'll we'll
head down there and you'll get you will get the
VIP treatment beyond belief, my friends. So just that's a
If that's incentive to get up here and see us,
then then so will be it?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
All right?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
We'll we'll get you behind the scenes and uh and
fill you up. How's that?
Speaker 8 (18:44):
I'm down?
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I figured you would be all right. Let me start
with George Kirby.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
We talked about him a lot one week ago today
and we said, hey, you know, what do you want
to see from him? And you It was kind of
velo right and throwing some sliders. Andrews went through it
on Monday after his first start. He threw about what fifty.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Yeah, I was like twenty or something like that like that.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, Villo was there, but boy, that the results have
not been you know, should we be all concerned with
George Kirby? Is just him just working through a couple
of starts.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
I'm gonna go with the signs that I said are there,
you know, and that he's done the things that I
wanted him to do. The thing that's missing is the
thing that he's had forever command, you know, And so
I'm I'm willing to say that this is a two
start bump. One thing that you saw in the first
(19:32):
one was the veto was actually pretty good and then
the command was awful. The second one he was more
in the zone, but some of it was middle middle.
So I think he's just feeling his way back to
where Kirby was that. You know. The the worry is
that command is less predictive than stuff it and it's
(19:56):
noisier than stuff. I don't know if your listener's no,
but the average miss by a major leaguer, you know,
from glove to to where the pitch goes is on
the order of eleven to twelve inches.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (20:13):
You know, Kirby has good command, and that's the scouting
reports have been there. They call him the Knight pocket
god in the in the clubhouse. You know, he's a
he's a he's a command guy. But it is something
that kind of tends to come and go, and it
tends to come and go. I think my personal theory
is because they have these complicated deliveries and one little
(20:35):
thing can go out, you know, one little his back
hurts or hamster hurts. In this case, maybe the shoulder
is still a little bit barking, whatever it is. If
one little thing is a little bit off, that can
lead to poor command. I'm I'm gonna go though with
this track record with this picture and say, next time out,
he's gonna put together the stuff he's got and the
(20:56):
command he's always had.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
We're excited about Miller and Gilbert coming back to and
you know, as you're talking, was we're going through the
Kirby stuff and seeing him already. You know this is
not this is not a baseball term, but I'm sure
you have a way to explain it better than me.
Is it just working through the rust of coming back
after having a layoff, which is what you would do
after like a winter, and you know you do that
in spring training?
Speaker 8 (21:19):
Yeah, I think so. I mean the evolution. I mean
the sort of different ways that we think about command.
One of the ways you think about control, and control
is just getting it in the box, and command is
then putting it at a spot. And I think there
is a sort of natural, you know, progression in spring
where first you try to get it in the box,
(21:40):
and then you start to refine where you're putting it
in the box or around the box. And you know,
what we saw in the first one was a little
bit of trouble with the box. The second one he
had the box, but it was kind of middle middle
I think the adjustment is going to be there for him.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
You know, Sarah's joining us. Brought to you by Georgetown Brewing.
We spent some time the other day talking about cal Rawly,
and I'd love to get your thoughts on him. I mean,
Aaron Judge looks like he might run away with the
American League MVP. If you were to vote today, where
would you put cal Raley?
Speaker 8 (22:09):
Oh, I don't I haven't been awarded my vote yet,
so I don't have to necessarily refuse myself. Correct And
if you ask me later in the season, you have
to might have to recruse myself. But you know, right now,
I tend to start with Fanggrass winds above replacement, and
(22:31):
cal Raley is a solid second to Aaron Judge. Aaron
Judge is so out of the world. I mean right now,
he's got three to ninety one average and you know,
hitting everything. And oh, by the way, the defense is
fine too. I know that cal Rally, you know, he's
he brings to the table excellent, excellent catcher defense, and
so you know his candidacy does revolve around that. But
(22:54):
Fangrass war includes framing, includes blocking, includes all the stuff
that that that that that he does so well. I
think he's a solid second. Bobby Wood Junior is kind
of a distant third. So right now, it's it seems
pretty obvious how I go. But Aaron Judge could have
a slump in him.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Yeah, it doesn't feel likely, though, doesn't I could also
go out and shoot even par for eighteen holes. That
doesn't seem I mean, I could doesn't seem likely yesterday,
it really doesn't feel seem likely. But yeah, no, I
mean it could have. I just one of the things
we talked about is the catcher's position. I wonder if
it's evolved a little bit. I mean, there's so much
(23:35):
more data involved, so much more pre scouting involved. You know,
the greats of the past, that Johnny Benches of the world,
even the pad Rodriguez is guys like that. You know,
they had great offensive numbers and great defensive players as well.
They probably didn't do as much true prep work because
they didn't have the same data and analysis available. And
I just think it mentally that the job is even tougher.
(23:55):
And to see him keep doing what he's doing offensively
is so impressive, you know.
Speaker 8 (24:00):
Yeah, Yeah, he's he's a really impressive individual. And you know,
one thing I liked when I talk to him about
that that planning segment, was that he said that he
kind of lets the picture comes to him with the plan.
I mean, that's got it's got to be that on
some level because they have to buy in. But the
picture comes with him with a plan, and then they
(24:20):
adjust it from there. And I do think you know,
what you see with catchers is they debut later, they
peak later. They just generally have you know, it's a
tougher time and they just they have to they have
to be good defenders. They have to prepare for that,
they have to prepare the game call, and then then
they have to start to prepare as a hitter.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
And then oh, oh, by.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
The way, not only you being one hitter, your two hitters.
You're a switch hitter and so you're working on two
different swings. So yeah, he's got he's got a lot
of things going on. And that's why I don't see
him in the clubhouse too often. When the Mariner turns out,
he's just always you know, at work.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
No, he's busy one other thing before I let you go.
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Sarah stonie'sprt to by Georgetown Brewing. Our guy Julio Rodriguez
is number two on the team for a first place
team in f War as well with Fangrafts. And the
other guy obviously is who we just talked about, and
that would be cal Rawley. After that, it's a pretty
significant drop off, it feels like with Polanco's recent slump,
and we're wondering what's going on there. How concerned should
(25:24):
we be up here in Seattle because we know the
pitching is going to have to carry them at some point.
The offense has done a great job of it so far.
But it's kind of those two and I think the
combined four was actually this, right Andrews. The combined of
the rest of the team is just over one. It's
those two guys both over one and the rest of
the team is just at one. Is that a concern?
Speaker 8 (25:44):
You know it is, But here's why it might not be.
You know, Polanco was the rabbit, you know, he was
the guy that was out in front. Like I said before,
Randy rose Reina has not gotten hot yet, not for
the stake, and he can get hot. I think, you know,
Crawford can have a little bit more of a power
bench in and and then you know, I really like
(26:06):
Luke Raley and I think that he adds a dimension
to this team. He's a he's an undercover athlete. I
don't know people understand he's like a top third of
the league and sprint speed. He has a really good arm,
even for a first base and as they're using him,
and he hits for power. So this is a guy
that can come in and affect the game in a
(26:27):
couple of different ways. And he's been on the schneid,
so as pol Uncle comes back to Earth, there are
some opportunities. Just this isn't necessarily the Tigers. If you
look at them, they have the best record in baseball,
but every single one of their players seems to be
playing at their like eightieth percent pout right now. So
you just kind of circled out and be like, hmm,
if you look at this team, and I think Julio's
(26:49):
got more in him, and he's got more in him,
you know, and and Luke hasn't even been here, So
I think there's a couple of guys that can step
in this. This feels like there could be an avid
flow to the lineup. And yes, I know it's frustrating
because sometimes you look and there's like you feel like
there's four really good hitters in the lineup today, you know,
and that will happen, you know. I've just that's that's
(27:12):
Seattle Mariner's baseball.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
In a nutshell. But you're right with Raley. I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
I think Luke Rayley is like one of those kind
of under underrated, underappreciated whatever it is. He's just kind
of off the radar guy, but he does so many
things well. He's got great speed for a big man.
I think when he does come back and he's close, right,
That's what Hollander said the other day. Yeah, I think
that's a massive boost of the lineup, you know.
Speaker 8 (27:35):
Yeah. Yeah, And and Rowdy Roddy's you know, got really
good bad at ball stats in terms of hitting for power,
so you know, he's not the same all around athlete
or anything, but there could be some more power coming
from them as as it warms up. So yeah, there's
different guys that are that are here, and then there's
guys in the miners that that might be making their
(27:56):
case to come up. So I I think this looks
all right, this looks like I think this looks like
better than average for Seattle Mariner's lineup, And so what's
going on, real real quick?
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Before I let you go, I just I'd love to
pick your brain. I'll put you on the spot a
little bit off the top of your head. I know
you were talking Mariners. Minnesota's here this weekend, Washington pivotal
game to know that the rubber game tonight was the
National Series, but then it's the Minnesota Twins. Kind of
the toughest of this little stretch of nine games at home.
Twins have effectively the same record as Seattle does. Right now,
both team well sales thirty and twenty four. They're thirty
(28:29):
and twenty five. What do we expect from the Minnesota
Twins this weekend?
Speaker 8 (28:34):
Yeah, they're really interesting because their pictures, like Valvy math
is going to come in, He's pitch four eggs and
then they're going to go to the bullpen and that's
their first day, so they're going to tax their bullpen
a little bit and that might help because Bailey over
and Chris Paddock, you know, they're good pitchers, but they
can give up homer. So if they can get to that,
you know, that bullpen on day one, you know, and
(28:57):
hit a homer off of Ober and Paddock be an
okay series for them. But the bullpen is good in Minnesota,
and the lineup is good, and they're they're pretty good.
They're they're slugging team, and they might be getting Matt
Walner back, who has you know, eighty eighty ninetieth percentile.
I actually know, like he's top five in the league
in bad speed. So you know, they they they they're
(29:20):
kind of like the Mariners and that they just you
look at the look at the pieces and they're like, oh,
is this a really good team, and then you kind
of put it together like oh, okay, it kind of
fits together and they do certain things well. So yeah,
look for the slugging, look for the bullpen, and if
they can get to the bullpen in Game one, that'll
make everything better for the rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Well, good stuff is always, you know, tell people about
the podcast. Great podcast you guys do.
Speaker 8 (29:46):
Yeah, rates and barrels every day everywhere you can you
get podcasts. Just did a pod today that was a
reliever of Bonanza with Trevor May And you know, mister
Vargas made a appearance in our reliever Banana because he
throws a ninety nine mile an hour sinker that you know,
sometimes it gets hit he sometimes he has no idea
(30:07):
where it's going, but pretty nasty. So yeah, we just
have a lot of fun looking at baseball. We have
Jed Lowry for Hitter Wednesdays and just kind of go
through the world looking through our kind of nerdy nerdy lens.
Speaker 7 (30:23):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Great stuff, hey man, Thank you so much. We'll talk

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Today will be one of those. There's a lot of stuff.
I want to get into a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
One of the things is when the post game yesterday
between Carolina and Florida, Florida clinches a spot in the
Stanley Cup Final, they'll take on the winner of the
Edmonton Dallas series, which could conclude tonight game five. Is
this evening in Dallas? Come on, Stars, Come on Star.
Edmonton wins, it's over. We'll have a rematch of last
(31:43):
year's Stanley Cup Final between Florida and Edmonton. The is
that game.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
On to way? That game on nine to fifty? Oh,
I believe we do. Let me double check.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Thank you, appreciate you. I wanted to get into this.
I don't know if you saw Paul Maurice yesterday didn't
go through the handshake line, the head wach for Florida,
and he encouraged rob Rod Brindamore and the staff of
the Carolina Hurricanes to do the same or not to
do the same.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Didn't like it.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Well, the great traditions in hockey is the handshake line.
At the end, he says, it's it should only be
for players. I don't know about that. Let's try to
think what was the There was a tragedy, someone's someone's.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Dad died.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Oh it was uh Mark Seifeley, Mark Schifley, her price
for Winnipeg, their best offensive player. His dad died before
the final game of that series with Dallas, and the
emotion at the end with everybody, including head coach Peter
de Boor shaking his hand at the end was awesome. Like,
I don't know, I like Paul Maurice. I think sometimes
(32:50):
I think he's gone too far with his holier than now.
I'm kind of the god of all hockey. Yeah, I
can tell everybody what to do. We'll get into that,
maybe walk because the sound was really interesting, so maybe
we'll play that tomorrow. Anyway, that's it. Let me get

Speaker 1 (39:13):
Huh so, Ethan, I wonder if Ethan Martinez is any
relation to Damian Martinez.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Hmm, well you wonder.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
That that's that could be one of your storylines for
the OTA's Corbyn.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yeah, you know I'd have fresh scoop on that one.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
You would, indeed.

(39:54):
Tacoma or no, Peoff, I'm sorry, Poff, call in right now. Okay,
let's get to uh, let's get to what we got
going on Corman with the OTAs.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
We aren't out there yet.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Next week it'll start for all of the media where
we can lay eyes on things a year two. You me,
Greg Bell, Bob Candatta, everyone, Michael Sean Dugger, everyone's done
the same thing. The storylines to watch, let's get to it.
Number one storyline, what are you watching for? Both with
OTAs that are open and then the following week's mini camp.
Speaker 9 (40:26):
It's all about how smooth the offense looks because you've
got so many changes there. You've got a new quarterback,
you actually have three new quarterbacks. I know Drew Locke
was here previously, but not in this offense. You get
three new quarterbacks. You've got a bunch of new receivers,
you've got some new offensive linemen that are being mixed
in with a bunch of guys coming back from last
(40:47):
year's team. And then you've got all the different coaches
from Clint Kubiak to John Benton to having different guys
involved with the quarterbacks and receivers, and so that is
going to be to me, the main storyline is just
seeing how the operations go on offense, how quickly Sam
Donald clicks with some of his new targets because he
(41:08):
has never played with any of these receivers that the
Seahawks have on their rosters. So that is gonna be
the most fascinating thing to me is seeing how does
Donald acclamate to an offense that he should know fairly well,
but he's got a lot of teammates that don't. Is
that gonna mesh fairly quickly in an offense? It's got
plenty of complexities to it. Okay, I want to go
(41:29):
back to that a second. First of all, we're in
crisis mode right now. We're nearing the end of Ethan
Martinez from Puyallup's chance to call in and win one
hundred dollars and get that MLCY spectrum cut, you know, subscription.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Take this pretty seriously. Uh two O six two eight
six nine five nine five. If you know Ethan Martinez,
tell him to text in right now two O six
or call in. I'm sorry, call in, call in, call in,
call in. Let me emphasize that. Call in two O six,
two eight six ninety five ninety five, Ethan Martinez from
poll Up, call in asap, because you're almost running out
of time here to get your hundred dollars this move
(42:00):
this of the offense, Corbyn, I want to take both
of us back to a year ago and we're watching
the Ryan Grubb offense being installed. We're watching Scott hoff
tutor the offensive line, and there was a lot of
excitement and optimism and maybe blindly so, it never worked.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
It just didn't.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
It just was a clunker, like if we're being honest,
and that's why they made one of the many reasons
they made a change with that offensive coordinator. What specifically
are you looking for in Ota mini camp and training
camp from the offense.
Speaker 9 (42:37):
Well, it's gonna be a little bit different in the
sense that when I'm looking at the way that the
passing game operates, this is a much more timing oriented
based passing game than what Ryan Grubbs offense is. Ryan
Grubb's offense is more about taking the shots down field.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Airing it out.
Speaker 9 (42:54):
This is a Shanahan style offense where the quarterback is
going to be asked to get the ball out of
his hand ants quickly. He's gonna be asked to be
on time, throwing into windows of anticipation and if you're
not able to do those things, Clint Kubiak is gonna
be extremely frustrated first off, but it's just gonna be
difficult to operate the offense. This is truly a timing
(43:16):
based offense, and that is something that you can actually
evaluate in OTAs to an extent. You're gonna be able
to see how quickly the ball is getting out. You're
gonna be able to see throwing into those windows of anticipation,
giving your receivers an opportunity to lead them so they
can get yardage after the catch.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Those are things you can see even without the pads on.
Speaker 9 (43:36):
And last year that was not as big of a
focus for me when I was watching, just because of
the difference and offensive approach. This year, that is gonna
be something that I'm watching very closely, and along the
offensive line, I've already seen the difference.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
It was weird because you and I we watched Scott.
Speaker 9 (43:51):
Huff coach a few of those mini camp practices and
we were pretty pretty impressed. And then again into training
camp and it was it just felt even at that
point like it doesn't necessarily seem like things are meshing.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
I already can get the sense. You can see how
much respect the players have for John Benton.
Speaker 9 (44:07):
Just the way that he does things. He's more fast
paced than Scott Huff was. And he's gonna take guys
off the side and coach him.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
He's not gonna be.
Speaker 9 (44:15):
Spending three minutes telling me. He's gonna spend three seconds
this is what you do, show him. You better go
do it. If you don't, he's gonna start harping on you.
So those are gonna be some of the difference. But
the timing based offense is what I'm gonna be watching
from passive game perspective.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Yeah, I remember talking to an ext NFL offensive lineman
early on, and I want to say it was during
mini camp, not even training camp, and the guy was saying, yeah, this, this,
this isn't gonna work with Huff like and it's too
college based. It's this, this and this, And I was like, whatever, man,
Huf's great, he's gonna be fantastic, it's gonna work great.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
And it didn't.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
It just it just didn't work out. They go out
and get experience offensive line coach. Now part of what
happened last year. I think we'd all admit the rotation
at right tackle, Dave Lucas not being healthy for the
most part, really for the most part. A Lucas hasn't
been healthy for the last two calendar years. He's healthy.
Charles Cross is healthy. You start with two good tackles
(45:08):
and then you move inside. Gray's able as your left guard.
We know that's gonna happen. He's a first round draft pick.
He didn't They didn't draft him in the first round
to sit and develop. He's gonna step in right away.
It feels like Ola Timmy has a pretty good advantage.
Some of the underlying numbers suggest that he was maybe
better than the eye test at times, I don't know.
And then the right guard is the rotation is going
to be the big battle, So center, how close do
(45:31):
you think Ola Timmy is to having that job and
handicap that right guard position heading into OTAs.
Speaker 9 (45:39):
Well, I'll start with the easier one at the center position.
I think I actually might have mentioned this to you
in one of our earlier shows. I had some skepticism
when Klick Kubiak was first hired about oh with Timmy
being able to fit in this scheme, just because he
had his best days at Michigan and they were mostly
a gap based offense, and I wasn't sure about the athleticism,
(46:00):
But then I went back watched the film and then
looked at his athletic testing numbers, and he actually had
pretty darn good agility testing. So I am actually pretty
optimistic now that he can run this offense.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
And the fact of the matter is this run game last.
Speaker 9 (46:14):
Year, even in that offense was a lot better when
Olau Timmy subbed in after Connor Williams retired, and they
had some really nice run games in the second half
of the year. So I think it'd be at this
point I'd been leaning toward it be surprising if Jalen
Sundell ended up making this a competition, but they're going
to open it up initially, I think that Olu will
be the guy. As for right guard, your guess is
(46:36):
as good as mine at this point because and that
adds a lot of intriguing I mean, you've got Anthony
Bradford still on the roster that is a player. I'm
not sure that I see where he fits in schematically
with what they're wanting to do.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
You've got Christian Haynes, who I think is an.
Speaker 9 (46:51):
Excellent scheme fit with his athleticism, and I think he's
just gonna respond a lot better to John Benton. Sotolamea
is a good as lead as well. We saw that
on pulling assignments last year, and Bryce cable Doo as
a rookie might be able to enter the mix too.
I think this battle comes down to Haines versus Lemeya,
though I think it's going to be one of those
(47:13):
second year players. I have heard quite a bit of
buzz about this staff liking La Maya, so we'll have
to see what happens on that front. But I think
it's going to be one of those two guys that's
starting in Week one when the Seahawks played at forty nine.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
We'll watch how the rotation is and all of that
during this thing. I think, you know, just the continuity
is important to get to that point too. You want
to have competition, but you want to have continuity. You
want to have these guys working together as a fivesome,
not as four plus, you know, a rotation of three
or four guys. Corbyn I I you know, Vegas, the
prognosticators and everybody else very pessimistic about this team. I
(47:48):
think seven and a half wins is the Vegas projection
right now, and things like that and you know, based
on what the defense did last year. I you know,
I think that gets overlooked, especially my McDonald's acumen in
that regard and the improvements they made and what they
were they were the second half of the season. Specifically,
they're one of the better defenses in the league. The
question marks are all on the offense, and it starts
(48:09):
with the offensive line. Maybe I'm just a homer here.
Maybe that's just me and tell me I'm nuts here.
I think that I feel a lot better about this
offensive line than I did a year ago, or I
should have a year ago. I think this is on
paper right now if healthy, a far better offensive line
heading in to June and July, well.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
It better be.
Speaker 9 (48:33):
I don't know how it could be much worse than
it was last year. Listen, the personnel I think is
going to be better. I think John.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Benton is the big difference maker here. Though.
Speaker 9 (48:42):
The guy has been an outstanding line coach for a
long time. The Saints had a bunch of injuries last
year and they still finished in the top half of
the league in rushing yards. I just think that he's
a really good football coach and I'm looking forward to
seeing what he does with a number of these young
players that have the athleticism to be able to thrive
(49:03):
in this zone heavy scheme. I think that is still
gonna until they've prove it on the field, that is
gonna be the biggest reason for skepticism, especially from national media.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
And I get it.
Speaker 9 (49:12):
I mean, this has not been a good unit for
a long time. I can't remember the last time the
offensive line was average for the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (49:19):
So until they go.
Speaker 9 (49:20):
Out and prove it, that's gonna be the thing that
people are gonna be skeptical about. And obviously they're gonna
be looking at the quarterback being new, the offense being new,
the fact this hasn't been a team that's been struggling
to run in the football the last two years. It
seems like to me the offense is the biggest thing
that is holding back people from saying, you know, I
think this team can win ten plus games.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
I'm not in that group.
Speaker 9 (49:42):
I think this is a better team on paper than
it was last year, but there certainly are questions that
have to be answered before they are able to reach
those expectations.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
I'm gonna come back to the offense of a second.
I just real quick anything on the defense that really
peaks your interest. It kind of feels like all this
will be watching offense, offense offense during the open OTAs
in the mini camp.
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Yeah, there's a couple of things here. First off, I
want to see what Byron Murphy looks.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Like in year two.
Speaker 9 (50:08):
I think he was a lot better than his statistics
pointed to last year. In fact, he was in the
top seven among defensive linemen last year in pass rush
win rate. On true passsets, he was effective. He just
didn't get near enough opportunities. They've got to find ways
to get him more three tech run so that he
(50:28):
can get after the quarterback. And that might be tough
because Leonard Williams was so darn good in that role
last year and Jared Reid's.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
Been solid in that role.
Speaker 9 (50:36):
But I think you've got to pass the torch from
Reid to Murphy. Now Read still gonna get his snaps,
but I think you've got to let this kid. Got
to cut him loose, let him use his athleticism. And
the second thing, I want to see what nick em
and Wa he's gonna be doing in the second area.
He was one of my favorite prospects this entire draft,
and I cannot wait.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
To see what Mike McDonald is gonna do with him.
Speaker 9 (50:58):
They had so much success with three safety looks late
last year and no offense to Rayshon Jenkins, but Nick
Emminwari is just a totally different kind of athlete. I
cannot wait to see what Mike McDonald was a mad
scientist with him in that secondary. Just the way they
move guys around, Witherspoon possibly playing more in the boundary,
(51:19):
there's a lot of exciting stuff that could be happening
with that back half of the defense.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
I kind of wonder how much they're gonna show what
emin Warri does in the open OTAs, of which there's
just three and I think three open mini camp sessions
or whatever it might be, So I'll I'll be curious
toe how much they really show. I'm sure they're doing
a lot right now that we're not seeing that that's
kind of behind closed doors. But yeah, I think those
are two things to keep an eye on, all right,
the wide receiver position, Sam Darnold timing all those things.
(51:46):
It's interesting because with that offense, you know, the deep
threat of a DK Metcalf maybe isn't as needed and
I know, you know they got Marquez A Valdez scantling.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
That's fine, he's lost a step. There's no out about that.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
They've got Hunter the Holt, the receiver from Colorado States,
Hunter Holt Horton, well done. I in one of those
times you're going to get it. They got him as well.
We'll see if he's healthy. He's got coming off that
knee injury. Cup and JSN How similar are they? How
(52:21):
synonymous are they? How much can they work off each other?
Speaker 9 (52:25):
Yeah, that's been the storyline since Cooper Cup was signed.
A lot of people are just looking at the raw numbers. Well,
they both played a huge chunk of their snaps in
the slot, and there's truth to that. But I just
look at the game against the Rams in Week nine
last year. Jackson's' been the jig but had less than
ten percent of his snaps in that game in the boundary.
But he absolutely murdered the Rams on that limited number
(52:48):
of snaps. And he should have had over two hundred
receiving yards in that game if not for penalties on
the offensive line. And he did a lot of that
damage on a limited number of snaps in the outside.
I think he has a lot to offer as a
boundary receiver that we have not gotten to see much
of to this point, and having Cooper cup now, who
to me is a much more pure slot and that's
(53:09):
where he needs to do most of his damage. He
could play a little bit in the boundary, but I
think JSM is gonna be the one that has more
big playability, that can win downfield with posts and corner
routes and occasionally on a vertical you can do some
really fun stuff with him in the boundary. So I
think you can't have these two guys co exist, especially
in a lot of those two receiver sets. They're gonna
(53:30):
be able to move those guys around so they can
get maximum production out of both of them, but they're
gonna need somebody that can come in and take the
top off the defense still in order for this passing
game to really work. I do think they have a
couple guys though, that can do that well enough to
compliment Smith and Jigba and.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
Cooper cup Ty end group's gonna be interesting. Do you
do you think no offense on this roster after June first?
Speaker 3 (53:56):
I do.
Speaker 9 (53:57):
I would be surprised if they would be moving off
him now. At this point, and I think there is
still some excitement about and it feels like this has
been every year, like we finally have the offense to
unlock Noah Fan Like, until he proves it, there's gonna
be some pessimism. But I do know that this is
an offense. Jawan Johnson last year had over five hundred yards.
(54:18):
I think no A Fan is a better player than him,
if they can just figure out how to get him
the football more consistently.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
I don't know that they're ready to move off of
that yet.
Speaker 9 (54:26):
I think if they were, they would have done it
to this point. So that does not seem like somebody though.
Now if they get into camp and Arroyo is just
the better player already and somebody else has a tight
end go down, John Schneider is.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
Gonna be calling people. That I think is a more
likely scenario.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
Yeah, you know, I'm excited see what Barner brings a
year two we saw flashes from him.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Yah, you know, I really do.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
And then I think the other thing, we'll see how
that I mean, it's it's listen, every running back in
every mini camp and ota in the history of the
NFL's looks fantastic why because you can't tackle. It's all
not even two hand touched. Guys just fly through the
whole Boom boom, boom. Thanks for coming, But I'm curious
to see what the rotation looks like all the way
through July into the preseason. I will go to my
(55:08):
grave saying I think ken Walker is a top five
running back in the NFL of healthy.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
I just think he's got.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
His make you missibility, his big playability. We saw it,
especially his rookie season. I love me some ken Walker,
I really do. I'm not as high on Charbonney really though,
intrigued by Martinez and what he brings, and I liked
the little flashes I saw last year from Macintosh as well.
Speaker 9 (55:33):
Yeah, this is gonna be maybe the most competitive position
group for the Seahawks and their entire roster because ken Walker,
the third, I would be in agreement with you, in
terms of pure talent, is top five caliber. We just
have to see consistency when he's on the field. He's
got to stay on the field, and I'm just hoping
that he is able to curbs that enthusiasm that he
(55:54):
has for going to the outside, which has been a
little bit of an issue.
Speaker 3 (55:59):
For him in the first three years of his career.
Speaker 9 (56:02):
I'm hoping to see him be more decisive with his
cuts because he's gonna have to be in this scheme.
But if he does that, his ath lets has me
had a chance to really pop. And I would not
be shocked if Martinez pushed his Charbonnet and Macintosh for
that second running back spot.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
I maybe not gonna go to the point where.
Speaker 9 (56:20):
I'm predicting it to happen, but this guy everged six
yards per carry for his entire college career. He is
a really good running back that runs downhill physical and
he's also a really good zone runner with good eye
discipline and good patience, good contact balance. I would keep
an eye on him as somebody that could really make
(56:41):
things interesting there for this couple other returning.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Back about him as he's when you when you when
you're up close with him, he's not physically imposing, you know,
like he's not a you don't look at him, go man,
this guy is sick and he is just like a
you know, Derrick Henry Tyber. But his yards after contact,
like you said, six yards per carrying, call it a
ton of yards after contact. He just runs hard like,
(57:04):
he's kind of the proof positive you don't have to
be the biggest guy in the world to break a tackle.
He runs with a viciousness and a ferocity that's just
really kind of fun to watch. He's just different than
every one of those guys. The Charbonnet is not a
power back. I think there's some sort of you know,
he looked like at times UCLA maybe, but not in
the NFL. Uh this guy is. This guy is a
(57:25):
flat out knock you over on your ass.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Could call a hammer run. Yeah, yeah, runs.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
He's a heavy runner that has athleticism. He ran in
the low four fives.
Speaker 9 (57:35):
He's not the most agile back, but yeah, he'll bowl
those people. And he's got that kind of wide gate
I'm not gonna say Marshawn and Lynch like, but he's
got that wide gate and contact balance where a lot
of guys just bounce off of him.
Speaker 3 (57:50):
The Seahawks don't have a running back like that on
the roster.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
No, nope, Uh, well, we get to watch it next week.
I can't wait to get out there. I know it's
just football practice, but it's kind of for the first
time this year, really fund actually see that stuff up
closed and see all these rookies what should be just
a hell of a rookie class top to bottom that
they drafted along the way, Corbyn tell us about Emerald

Podcasting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Ian Fornz, powered by Seattle's Close to
the Sports Book Snow call me Casino on Sports Radio
ninety three point three j j R FM.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Well, well, well, well.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
We're gonna hand two hundred dollars to Faine and Jackson
at two o.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
God, we got way too cocky. We did. What was
that dipstick's name? I'm looking now, Ethan Martine.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
Ethan Martinez, dude, cost yourself one hundred bucks, and you
cost us a lot more than that, way more than that.
If you text your name in for the EQC note Thursday.
Do you think you wouldn't even if you don't like
to show the host anything else, wouldn't you listen just
for a second at the top of the hour?
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
One hundred bucks? Now you want to listen for two
hundred bucks? Yeah? All right. Those of you who didn't
get your name called, now you have an even bigger reason.
Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
I'm side man, like new guy went three for three
and we go one for two. I'm just sideways. I
don't even know what to think. I don't know what
to think. Faults, well it is. I mean, we get
judged by it. It's like, listen, you can. It's like
a coach, right, you can do everything you can to
prepare your team, but if your team doesn't execute, if
they don't execute, that's on you. Like Rob Rob Brindemore, Like,
(01:01:21):
is he really a good coach in Carolina?
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
It's a good question. I think he kind of is.
But you know, you know his team plays soft? Is
that on him? Can't take his team over the hump? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:01:32):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
I mean we tell you everything you need to win
a hundred bucks and you decide you don't want to
call in, Ethan Martinez, that's that's a you problem.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Fella is a problem. God, yikes, yikes.
Speaker 8 (01:01:44):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Well, now you guys got two hundred top of the hour, three.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
O'clock, so four nine, four or five on first and
last name, text it in and I don't know, unlike
that guy should call?
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
How about that? Yeah, reminder, you have to call in
to claim it. You'll just get to text in and
be like, oh, they'll call that's cool. One hundred bucks. No, no,
you have to call it. You have to hear your
name and call in. Yes, yes, yes, all right, let's
get to it. There are a couple of other texts I
saw the Let me get to a couple of those.
I uh, I saw one and it's a very important text.
(01:02:15):
Fire away important fire away went up the date. Let's see.
I had it up here just a second ago. I
was like, Ian, did you ever give an update on
what your wife did with your slot machine winnings? Okay,
here's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
I'm going to be back up at the snow Qualmy
Casino and Hotels soon and we will have a we'll
have a giveaway for that closest to the pin. I
can't stand anymore after that?
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
How much came back? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Did she reinvest it and do well? Did she not
do well? How did it all turn out? As I
told you that day?
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
We're up there.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
That was two weeks ago. Tomorrow we're up at the
snow qualm Me Casino.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
I have a little bit of a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
I think everyone listens to this station knows. Sometimes you
have a few minutes in the commercial breaks, just a
few I might have walked a few feet to a
slot machine.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
It might have got pretty pretty lucky for real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
Yeah, did well, I'm just a quick little boom boom,
thanks for coming.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
Hand her the slip.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
She was with my son's girlfriend and his best friend,
and we're going over for the graduation.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
I still can't believe you made that rookie mistake. Just
an awful or was it move on my part?
Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
But I stand it to them and I said, hey,
I'm off here in ten minutes, I'll pack up.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Can you go cash this out?
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
And I know exactly where you cash the cash here
is at so Qualami Casino. As I'm looking, it's to
my right. From the sports book because I'm looking out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
You watch her walk and she went to her left
where the slots are, well, the slots are straight right
and left. I just know this. There ain't no cash
here to the left. No, there just isn't. She could
have like at least tempted to show that she was going,
and she had gone to the right.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
He doesn't care, she cares. She cares not at all.
Man Like, she just goes thanks and he walks away.
And I'm like, yeah, to think that she cares about
money that I just won, that I would have.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Like maybe it's a golf club. I'm like, oh, free
chances to go play my slots myself. Yeah, she's got
a problem. Two five, three. When will we see Cole Young?
It's a great question. Actually he is raaking in triple
A as he's done all the way up, Like at
some point you gotta you gotta look at it. He's close,
(01:04:38):
isn't he He's he's got I think a lot of
people think he should be up already. Well, I mean work,
where can he play second base? Okay, that's his best
position too?
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
Okay, yeah, because I can't watch I can't watch the
so called gold glover play much more.
Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
No, no more.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
Dylan Moore.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
I know there's some Leo Revos fans out there, but.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
He's a great player off the bench for you. Yeah,
Revo a really good playoff, like, really good off the bench. Yes,
a lot of those players.
Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
It seems like a lot of utility guys. Ryan Bliss
when a logot about Ryan, I know, I know. Whatever
happened Miles Master. I like him, I do too. I
like him. Actually he's kind of the guy holding Cole
Young back though right now. Unfortunately that's kind of outfield though. Yeah,
(01:05:26):
can col Young play in the outfield? No?
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
Okay, well that's then the guy holding them back is Solano.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
But that's your other first baseman.
Speaker 1 (01:05:36):
Yeah, okay, you got rowdy and you got the so
called utility gold Glover. Those guys can hold down first base. Okay,
you don't need What does Solano do? What?
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
What has he ever done? He's been okay for the
last couple of weeks, he's actually started to get some results.
I and personally I think he's a waste of space.
He is a waste of space, a waste of space.
But I still would rather see Donovan Salano played first
base defensively than Dylan Moore. Dyl Moore is an awful
first baseman.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
He's a goal glover, Sir, I show the respect that
you show him, show the respect you need to show
for the goal glover. They actually have one goal glover
and his name is Cal Rawley m JP okay three
years ago, four years ago, cod cod here. It's like, yeah,
like that was like Lebron's last title too. Did that
(01:06:26):
really count? Did that really happen? I don't know if
it really happened.
Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Called that a Mickey Mouse trop You're the tallest short person,
is what you are, Tilly gold glove guy, Give me
a break. That's that is the that's the ultimate.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
If that isn't the ultimate pro sports participation trophy slash ribbon, ever,
I don't know what is.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
The other one's Harry Ford because he's also been raking.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
Yeah, but but he's not gonna play unless you want
a d H Cal every now and then.
Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
And I think there's some thought about that. But the
only thing, like, so if you were to call it
sure thought that Cal could kind of start to work
down a little bit, is that the no, no, no, I
just think like you got to can't have that talk
on this show. No, no, no, but you've got to
get better players in your lineup somehow. Harry Ford is
a probably a better player right now than Mitch Garver period.
So were you okay? What does that say? But you
(01:07:17):
also are paying Mitch Garver thirteen million dollars, so that's
the issue there. How are they winning last night notwithstanding
they already dfa Mitch Hanniger one of the Mitches. Get
both mitches off the roster. Please, this should be a
Mitch free zone.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
I just want nine cow Actually, you know what, I
want five cows and four Julios to be done with.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
Let's be done with it, just done.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
Just give me those four Give me those nine guys.
I don't my guy Julio could play infield. Cow could
play first. Come on, yeah, sure, come on. Let's just
give me just clone those guys. Give me those guys.
Give me a little Randy'll take a little Randy Rose rain.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Now why he's cold right now that he's not having
a good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
No, he as cold as the other guy. It's true,
mister four hundred in the first month of the year. Blanco, Yeah,
he can't.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
It was going tonight again. It's uh, McKenzie Gore, so
you against who h emer Emersanka and an update we
get they did have a line up Planka's bating against
a lefty, so that that is a little bit of
an update there. And they made a roster move too,
didn't they. Yeah, Casey Lawrence has called up for the
eighty seven thousandth time this year. I feel bad for
(01:08:29):
that dude. And Glaskestango just made his MLB devut last
night has been sent back down. Those guys might like,
is Casey Lawrence the Federal Way probably have no idea
we has to because because they gotta be in between,
gotta be in between right good, If they're right, they
should buy like a big old flophouse like they do
for flight attendants down in Federal Way, for these guys,
(01:08:51):
for blas casts, Casey Lawrence, all these guys, all these
relievers that come up for a day and are gone
the next day.
Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
Yeah, it's buy a flop house they needed, like the
flight attendant fly house. All right, Uh Fain, we'll pass
along the word that he gets two hundred bucks. Can't
wait to do that. That'll be fun. I might just
ignore that that's coming up next. Dick Ever signed onto
(01:09:17):
the so our website here whatever, this our homepage is
on the computers here it goes right to some sort
of iHeart thing whereas I'll show it to you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Okay, iHeartMedia. This main page. You ever see that?
Speaker 6 (01:09:31):
Like I log onto the ninety three to three website,
I don't know about this one just pops up on anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
It's got all this stuff like and always has like
a different you know, like different things. Three meets you
should it? Basically, I think it's show prep for all
the FM. Well we're FM for all the music nerds.
Speaker 6 (01:09:46):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
He means you should stop ignoring at the DELA in
order next. So I stumbled across this one. Twenty three
beloved beer is advantaged without a trace? Wow, Schmidt Beer
Urse Schmitty's sure. How about how about Henry Rhine Winehart's Henry.
Speaker 6 (01:09:59):
Wine Hearts was the first beer I ever ordered at

seven minutes. Yeah, okay, Colin, right now, Yeah, Jackson, you'll
get yours and all that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:50):

kind of part of him to someone else?
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Well, who do he passed the heavy sigh on too?
If you're saying, like what, Kevin.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
You're aside from Jackson? Every once in a while does
Jackson side?
Speaker 6 (01:13:06):
It's more it's more of the hyperventilation. It's like, get

time it comes to airs out there, he'll be back
in the story.

I don't like to think when I get off the
air at three and now I'm like, that's the difference
between Fain hosting and Softy.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
That's the difference right there. Well, also I'm thinking about
myself now, bracket right now, I would have just I
would have been done. I would have liked whatever. I'm
done with listening to yell.
