Speaker 1 (00:00):
Power one on five point three, Atlanta's number one hip
music station. I'm otis good friend of mine. Scott Bagwell
is in here and you may be asking why. It's
because he's on the hit series on TLC on thousand
Pounds Best Friends from right here in Marietta, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How's that been, man? You just debuted the premiere last week.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Episode number two is tonight and you just literally start
your weight loss journey tonight.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Last week I got introduced and got to do support group,
got they saw, I got to meet the girls.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Walked into Instant Drama, Vanessa, Megan Ashley. They're at each
other's throats instantly, and you're like, yeah, this should be fun.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah. And that was literally, Yeah, that was literally the
first time I had ever met them in person. Did
not talk to him, did not see them or anything
before I walked into film.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Then Crash Course and Reality TV.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah, drama, Oh absolutely, yeah, and then yeah and then tonight. Yeah,
it's they get to see it start. They get to
see me Wayne with doctor Proctor. They get to see
Vanessa come over to the house and coach, so we
start a walk.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
She's a bit of a drill Sergeant she's got everything
in in planned, like this is here's how you should
do it, this is the way you should go.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
But this is what I want you to start with.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Oh yeah, one yeah, and that's and that's the type
of person who I need to train me is I
don't need someone who's all.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Me too man slow and yeah you got this.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You can term like I need someone in my physic
dude going now, you can do it. And it worked.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
So yeah, yeah, so your weight you're on, you're starting
your weight last journey.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Vanessa herself.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
The reason she feels so empowered is because she's lost
the almost five four hundred and fifty pounds, almost five
hundred pounds.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, so she's so she she started out at almost
five hundred pounds. She's lost goddess. I think she's down
almost like two hundred and fifty or something.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Like Wow, that's a transformation.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Do you have a goal in mind where you're like
this is kind of yeah, absolutely where I want.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
To get it.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
So for me, they'll see tonight my starting weight is
at five ninety six. That's what they'll see tonight. I
can't say what I'm at now. They'll have to stay
tuned to find out, but I'd like to end up
about I'd be comfortable around to twenty two thirty.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
So how did you fall into this situation? Obviously in
your head you're like, I gotta lose weight. In the show,
you talk about I want to find love. Yeah, I
want to find somebody to love me, and I'm not
loving myself at this point.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
So that started your journey.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
But how did you fall into a reality TLC to
do it in front of the world.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah? So actually, so back.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
In May of twenty twenty three, I went and made
an appointment with doctor Procter at Beltline Health here in Atlanta.
We filmed everything here and I went in not knowing
anything about the show, not knowing anything about him that
he was even involved with the show. And I went
and met with him consultation and he was like, Hey,
(02:50):
would you be interested if I send over your information
to some people. I think you would be perfect for
the show. And I'm like, sure, why not? In next thing,
you know, I got some emails phone calls later, and
four months later we were off on the ground running filming.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Like reality TV. Now I'm even more forced, yeah, to
have to make this happen.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, definitely. I mean I was ready to make I was.
I'll be honest, I was. I wasn't. I want to
say I was forced into it because you're not on
the show. We're not guaranteed anything. We have to put
in the work, cameras aren't with us.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
But you also want the rest of the world watching
you lose weight, which is yeah, I mean anxiety inducing
from I lost some weight earlier this year and just
being on the scale in front of the girl that
the assistant at the weight loss place was a little
bit intimidating.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
You got cameras everywhere.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
While yeah, we got cameras, we got producers and sound
and everything like that. But it's it was an amazing
it was an absolutely amazing, life changing experience. I'll say this,
even though I can't talk about where I'm at right now,
they can see how I Even though I can't really
talk about it, I'll just say I'm in the best
(04:04):
shape physically, mentally, spiritually, everything I've probably ever been in
my life. So I'm like, it's it's amazing. Like people
ask me a year ago, Like, if people ask me
a year ago, would you think you'd be where you
are to abby? Heck, no, no, absolutely not. And here
I am now with one of the top reality shows
(04:25):
on all of TV airing now and my story going
out to millions of people around the world.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
That's pretty incredible, man. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Now, but the problem is that there's millions of people
around the world that are gonna have an opinion on
everything you do on social media, and some of those people,
I think Mike Tyson said that social media gave people
a platform where they wouldn't be punched in the face.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, and that really shines Yeah, oh media.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah, absolutely. Social media for me is I've always been
begging social media. I want to use it to help
connect with the fans, help inspire people to make a
change in their life.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Trust me.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
In the last couple of weeks since the show came out,
I've had the good I've had a really really good
positive messages. I've had some critiques. I've had some people
who have flat outside they don't like me, And to that,
I say, who cares. I go, I'm my own person.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I didn't know you before this.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
I was like, I didn't know you before this. Your
opinion is not going to affect you. But then I
also have the people who are giving me their phone numbers.
I had one girl message me asking to be my
sidekick in life, and I'm like, I don't even know you.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Well, you did throw it out there. I want to
find love. Now you're going to get those You're gonna
get those hard eyes from a few fans like he's cute.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah yeah, Well, well, I mean, we'll see what happens.
I'll be honest. I have been on a couple of
dates over the last couple of months now that I've
started to change my life and everything, and well we're
gonna I'm gonna respect their privacy, but I'll say things
are going good, but I'm still very much single. I
(06:05):
guess you can say I'm ready to mingle. I guess.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
But who's the strangest person on social media that's said something?
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Oh, probably the strangest message I've got was it started
out was a girl from New Jersey. It started out
nice and sweet and kind, and then it went into
her saying she was a spiritual healer and she could
and she could sense that I had good energy ready
for to let my wings fly.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yea.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And then she goes, if you ever want to talk,
just to let you know I'm single. Thirty seven, have
no kids, live by myself with my dog. And I'm
like it started out good, right, and then I'm like, yeah, delete.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
She's also like, I'm sitting outside your house right now,
so if you want to talk, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yeah, my house is blurred on Google Maps. I my
mom made me. Hi mom love her Tracy, she hates
she likes me to. That's not her on the TV show.
It is a paid actress that they found in Atlanta
to play my mom. Know, that is my mom. She's
gonna be embarrassed I'm talking about her, but I know,
like she convinced me to. We got the house blurred
(07:13):
on Google Maps. I mean if someone a weird, people
are weird, we can just say that. Yeah, I mean,
but no, Yeah, it's it's it's it's been a great
journey so far. Man. It's life is amazing. I'm in
the gym five six days a week right now.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
More than me. Man. Yeah, well good, I'm happy for you.
You know, I've been excited for you.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
So you've been coming out to the Braves game, yeah,
and kind of telling me about your journey up to
this point.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
And it's finally here.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
The show is on every Tuesday on TLC, you can
catch Vanessa, Megan and Ashley who kind of kicked off
this thousand pound best friends and now you Scott Bagwell
from Marietta and Tina.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah Gina, Yeah, Tina lives up and wringled, Tina Beale
love her. They'll get to see her journey as well.
Of she's approved, but she has to lose a little
bit more weight before doctor Proctor actually will do her surgery,
and they'll get to see the highs, they'll get to
see the lows with her, They'll get to see her journey.
(08:15):
I'll say that she looks amazing right now. She's doing good.
All the girls look fantastic, and uh yeah, there's drama there.
I look all nice and innocent now. But there are
times where you get to see me getting arguments and
(08:35):
you get to see the crying, you get to see
the love, you get to see the tears. But the
big thing is they get to see us tackle a
journey that a lot of people out there have difficulty with.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, everybody, it's intimidating, no matter how much you're trying
to lose ten pounds, twenty pounds, one hundred, twenty pounds
it's intimidating all the way around. Every time you walk
on the scale, you have the ups and down because
you feel like what I did all these things and
I'm up now.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Yeah it could be muscle, that could just be something.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
You ate that that you you know later on that
it won't matter.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah, I mean I have my I have my moments
still where like even from the beginning, like I feel good,
I look good, but I still look in the mirror
sometimes I'm like like, I'm like, well, that's part of it,
the psychology, because I bet you know, being bigger, you
get a little bit of body dysmorphia.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yeah, and never really that it's hard to see yourself
in a different way, and then you're always feeling like,
well that's wrong, and then that's wrong and that looks weird,
you know.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Yeah, And people will see on the show. One of
my big things that I tackle on the show and
they'll see me address it and work with it is
mental health. We have at amazing biatric therapist, doctor Connie
Stapleton local here in Atlanta. We worked with and I
meet I still meet with her on a regular BASI
(09:58):
like I had to meet with her originally in the
process of getting surgery. And they'll see on the show
if she approves me, if she doesn't approve me. But
I I'm a big proponent of mental health, people getting help,
people asking for help. And that's one of like I'm
blessed with this platform of the show and getting ready
(10:19):
getting to go out and help inspire people all over
the world. And I want people to know it's okay
to ask for help. I mean, even though I know
there's someone probably listening right now who is struggling with something,
whether it's drugs, alcohol, uh, sex, addiction, pornography or whatever,
and they think they're alone, They're not alone. I myself
(10:39):
have struggled with pornography back in college and everything right
that and everything like that. And I'm a big I'm
a big supporter of people asking for help and everything
like that. And and if I go if people are
listening right now and they got me message, shoot me
a message on Instagram. Scott Underscore one K best Friend.
(11:01):
If you're struggling, call the mental health hotline. Just call
someone and ask for help. And there's support out there.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
There's people like you and I that are always willing
to you know, have a conversation or lift you up
when you need it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, that's incredible. That's that's the way to be in life.
And yeah, that's good luck on your journey. It's an
incredible one.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Once it finishes, we're gonna do like a twelve month
calendar of Scott in like just.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Oh yeah, I'll be I'll be like, I'll be like,
what's it Jack Rose from Titanic? There you go, but
uh and I'll lay on the cast and wear the
diamond and like, paint me like your French model. I
just realized also that this is being recorded on cameras
and stuff, and I'm like, oh lord, and like someone's
gonna take this and it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Be like paint me like your French model.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
I'm like, oh Jesus, hey.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Enjoy that on saying that's gonna be fun. That was
gonna get some real crazy.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah, that's gonna get the real crazies out here in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Check out thousand Pounds Best Friends tonight every Tuesday. It's
on TLC and root Scott on throughout this season because
we know you're gonna be awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
On the show. Thanks man for having me, God blessed dude.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Thanks
