Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's oh pains type of stuff. Right now. Saw this
thing and it was saying that sometimes what why just
tell us what is it? Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I was just working ahead. I just saw this thing
and it said that sometimes social anxiety means that you're
just really bad at small talk and you don't know
how to be fake. And I was like, I kind
of like that. I like that a lot because that
reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. Like I feel
like sometimes when he's in like big settings, I'm like,
you're so awkward. Why are you acting like that's stopping weird?
(00:27):
And it's really probably just because he is really bad
at small talk and he really doesn't know how to
be fake?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Is it, though? Because like I see my wife and
Rich and Kyle, they talk to anybody and they have
conversations said about being fake. I don't think it's because
I can't. I sit there sometimes and I watch other
people talking. I'm like, how do they do that?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I feel like you're really good at that?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
What are you like?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Oh, that's fake, I'm being fake by that's my small
talk is fake?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
But you're really good at it.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
No, I think you're really good at asking questions too.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
But then I have to leave. I can't sit there
and talk forever. I got to boom, I hit him
and leave.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Well that's okay too, I think, But I.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Don't know how people just sit there and talk to
someone for a long time.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
It's yeah, at one point you do kind of like
run out.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
You're like.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Yeah, because then you go how deep are we getting
into this?
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Cover stae?
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Like are we going like family your fears?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:22):
I like talking to people though.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Okay, And that interests you because it just because your boyfriend,
because I think he does okay too.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, reminds know who Kadem.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
And social setting, I never a problem talking is so
shy he is.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
He is very shy.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
And you know what, Kyle's wunny that you say the
word shad because every time I call him shy, He's like,
I'm not shot. I just don't like people.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Well, you're not outgoing, so the opposite it would kind
of be shy, right, That is true, I guess. So yeah,
unless he is outgoing, just in different settings.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Oh, he doesn't like me, okay, No, he loves but
when he's like with his family, I love being around
him with his family because he's just a totally different
person is it?
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Uh? Is it Drake kadem.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
He's a drake. Yeah, real personality coming out right that
you guys got a treat.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Hey, let's go through a bunch of your stuff right now, Payton,
because you're gonna go on vacation for a week, so
maybe we can just clear up all this stuff and
then start fresh.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Uh you said I only cried a few times last night.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Why last night was our senior night for the year.
We had two girls who have been with us since
we took over the program four years ago, so we
had them as freshmen and then they were seniors. Well
they're seniors this year, and I got to do their
senior speeches and I got all choked up because I
just like, I feel like I just watched them grow up.
You know, now they're leaving the nests.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Are they going to play in college or there?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
One's gonna go playing college. The other one she's just
super smart and was going to go to school.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
Your little baby basketball birds.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yep, exactly. And they're so sweety cutie, and they're just
so much. They're so bad.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Then you wrote the pictures from my photo shoot dropped.
It was amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, I'm shocked that that was me and those pictures.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Didn't look like where where can we se?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
They're on the John Jay and Rich instagram and my
instagram is.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
That's where you're like looking a knife and you're in
a wedding dress.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Was I'm like a runaway bride?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Was it for a wedding cake or was it for
the what was it for?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So my friend Angel that came in and dropped off
dumplings for it?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Oh my god, I love those. Those are so good.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yeah. From Love Bite. She asked me to do a
Valentine's Day photo shoot and was gonna have me dressed
up as a bride and was gonna do like a
runaway bride kind of look and kind of be like
you're never alone when you have Love Bite kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Are the love bites in the picture?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
No, those are the cheesecakes. We were like focusing on
the cheesecake.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
She does that.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
She had these like yu zoo cheesecakes. They're like a citrusy.
Oh they're so good.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
So she does dumplings and cheesecake like those are the
two things they sell there.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Wow, that pink rice that she has is it always pink?
Or is that just for Valentine's Today. Always think it
is so good.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah, I had a super overwhelming moment in my car yesterday.
What happened?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Oh my gosh. So I was driving on the road.
I wasn't on the freeway or anything, and I was
in the middle lane and I needed to get over
to make a right hand turn, and I put my
blinker on and as I started to veer over, I
thought that there was a car there in my blind spot.
Didn't see him right, So my blind spot my bad.
So I'm like, okay, I kind of swerved back over
(04:12):
and the car comes running up on me and I
like put my hand up. I'm like hi, I'm sorry.
And he rolls down in his window and he starts
pointing at me, starts cussing me out, and I'm sitting
there and I'm like, I'm sorry, Like I didn't mean
to I'm sorry. People make mistakes, and sometimes I'm like,
when do you just say it's okay? Like why are
you screaming at me? It's not like I'm flipping you
(04:32):
back off because I feel like you were not in
the right spot. I was like, I'm just a girl.
Stop screaming at me. In your big truck.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I'm just good in the world. If I was with
my kids right now, I'd be like, that's a song.
Do you want to hear it?
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I don't think you need to be up just the
girl you need to be. It's just like, you're a
human being. You made a mistake.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Chill, slip him off.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Once you get the once you get the oops, I'm sorry, move,
then everybody's got a chill.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Yeah, you couldn't get what he would be upset. But
then when you see the oh, I'm sorry, Okay, you're
an idiot, but I get again an idiot on the road.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Too exactly, And I was just like, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
There's this comedian I can't remember who it is, but
he tells this story like how people in their cars
just get so tough when they make a mistake, Like
imagine if that happened like in an elevator, so true,
Like you get in their faces, screaming in the elevator
like well you know, you know, you get but in
the car they go crazy. People go crazy. Okay, let's
see Peyton. Now, why are you asking about how you
dressed when you go to a play?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Well, because for Christmas, I got my mom and my
sister tickets to Wicked, and I don't know what you
wear to a play? Do you get dressed up?
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Is it that gamage?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, you've been to a play on Broadway.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, but that was a long time ago, and that
was in Europe, and I feel like the fashion is different.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Oh you would Broadway, it was it was wearing Europe.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
You go dress in London, well, I.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Would assume whatever you dressed like in London.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
But I was also fifteen.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Style is the pinnacle of theater.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Jean Joy is saying, whatever you wore in London, where
now sing when you were fifteen?
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Skinny jeans are out now doing skinny jeans?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
I heard they were back in last week.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
No, I did see something that they're seeing skinny jeans
show up on the run.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Alex Earl okay, but alex Earl has like paper thin,
little skinny legs, like, of course skinny jeans look good
on her.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Let's see. I finally went to go see One of
Them Days with Sisk Palmer.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, that was that movie that I was really excited
to see. It was like the girl version of Friday.
It was cute. I was expecting more, you.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Said, I don't know why I got such a high
rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, it was cute, but why were you expecting more?
Speaker 5 (06:36):
Like, more comedy, more action?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
What were you expected?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
I was expecting more comedy, I think, so, I think
I just my my. I was very excited about it.
It was very hyped up. I built it up a lot,
and and Sis it did a phenomenal job, and Kiki
Palmer's fun their chemistry is great, but I was just like,
h it could have been funnier.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
That's kind of my problem with movies, when people like
hype them up way too much and your expectations are like,
through the it's a decent movie, and if you had
zero expectations, you'd probably be like, it was really good.
But when people build it up too much, you see it,
you're like, what was the big deal?
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Comedies are tough too, especially when somebody tells you it's hilarious. Yeah, yeah,
you gotta be one of the first ones to see it.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
But I liked it. I would watch it again.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
But now I hear you say you want to die
your hair blue.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yeah, I just feel like the switch up could be.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Fun here in the behind that so what?
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Oh so you're not gonna do it, or you might
do it.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
I'm probably not gonna do that. I would like to,
it'd be fun. Probably get a fun wig. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Now, why do you say you're gonna go broke?
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Well, because I'm like buying a million things. Is that
the one you're talking about on Amazon?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah? The Pocket three?
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:41):
So I got this new vlogging camera and I've probably
no joke, probably spent like three hundred bucks on accessories
trying to make it the most perfect thing. I still
haven't even tried to learn how to work the camera.
I'm just buying all the excess.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Is that what you had at the golf tournament?
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Oh, how'd that stuff turned out? Did you post?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
It was cute?
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I made I made a little something.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
I'm so proud of you for even taking it out
and bringing with you on the trip. But you gotta
use that stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I know, I know, it's just so I feel like
it's just so complicated.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Is a guy who buys a lot of things? You
got to use those things or else they just sit there.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
What about this you went to three thirty three?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Oh my gosh, I was an experience.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
That's that new.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
It's a newer restaurant, and it's like, yeah, Grant went,
he went to like the grand opening, like the night
where you didn't have to pay for anything and you
got all like the free stuff. So he got the
good he got the good stuff. I actually went as
a girl's night with my friends. It's like right over
in Tempe at that Watermark area, like across from that
in and out in the Tempee Marketplace area over there,
(08:37):
and it's like an Asian fusion steakhouse. So it's like
prices of Domini's and steak forty four.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Oh, it's up, it's pricey.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
And here's here's my problems. First, the valet is a
block away from the restaurant. So you're telling me, I'm
going to this smooviie restaurant getting all dressed up and
I'm wearing heels and I have to drop my car
off away from a block away and I have to
walk my I was like, dang, okay, that blows.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
So you don't drop off your car at the front door.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
No walk away valet exactly, That's why I said. I
literally was like, why.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Are we valets shuttle to the restaurant and.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Then when you pick your car you have to walk
across the street to pick your car from Valets.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Yeah, and there's really no other parking other than Valet exactly.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
So when you pull up in.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
A twenty sixteen Ford Fiesta, yeah, the Valets are just like,
we're not getting tipped on this one, and they didn't.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Over there, dude.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
But the food there is nice.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Where's exactly I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
It's right, it's pretty much right across from Uh, it's
right across the bridge when you get off the two
two in Tempe.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Okay, I I don't market place.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
It's like that's what the little shopping area it is called.
It's like it's like an.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
It's right by remember Pincheros. Oh yeah, it's it's right
across the street from there. But dude, the wagon tacos,
they give you two tacos and they're like this big.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Literally like thirty five dollars for tacos. That was another
one of my problems was the food was I mean,
it was fine, but it was so expensive for the
little portions.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I was like, would get down, get kicked out?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Oh yeah, let me get there, let me tell again.
Oh my god. I was so irritated. So we get there.
We have a five thirty reservation, they tell us, or
on like the little booking website says you have a
two hour maximum limit because it's a new restaurant whatever,
a lot of foot traffic. So we're sitting there. It's
like me and three of my other friends. We're sitting there,
we're eating, and it's like, I don't know seven so
(10:31):
we still have about thirty more minutes for our reservation.
We still haven't gotten our food, so we're sitting there,
we're waiting. The server comes out, brings us our food,
hands us our food. We're about to take our first bike.
He was like, hey, by the way, we actually have
a reservation here in fifteen minutes. And we were wondering
if we'd be able to take you guys in your
food and move you to like a reserved area in
(10:52):
the bar and maybe we can comp you dessert. And
I like, if we look around and we're like, okay,
we're the youngest people in this joint right now. We
are definitely by far, probably ten years younger than everyone
in this restaurant. They're coming to us because they think
we're gonna roll over and say, yeah, mind you, we
still have thirty minutes on our reservation. They're about to
cut our reservation fifteen minutes short.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
That's not cool.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
We already didn't get our food after. We had to
walk a block away from our ballot, and they like
put us in the very back corner. It was so annoying,
and so I sat there and we just sat there.
We were like, okay, well can we eat first? Like
we haven't even taken a bit.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
This is brand new, this restaurant's brand there. I mean,
only we have trying. I'm not trying to defend them,
but I'm trying to look at are they trying to
go We're trying to figure things out, man, shrew, Hey,
go to the young group over there. They seem pretty.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Flexible unless be not ready for primetime.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
But they should have comfort a whole meal. I think, oh, sure.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
That's the thing.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
If you're going to ask someone, it's like, yeah, free dessert,
But like what if I wasn't planning an Anian desert anymore?
Speaker 2 (11:44):
And that's where we went, Kyle, because we're like, we
don't want your birthday free cake. We said we'll move,
but only for free treat.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Dude.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
The dessert there though, oh my god, they made. They
made a culinary thing.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
It was.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
It was supposed to look like the beach.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Were you there? It was?
Speaker 6 (12:00):
Yeah, dude, I got like a four course veal for free.
We were there for like three and a half hours.
Nobody asked us to move.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I don't know I would. I would try it again,
because I mean, you know, they don't even open for
like three weeks. Like I understand, you know, and no,
they're still they're open, but when I went, they'd only
been open for like three weeks, so I understand I
would go try it again, but maybe just for like
happy hours.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
I bet you guys were loud. They were like, we
got to get these loud ass girls out of here.
You know what, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
I had never heard of this place, have you rich?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
You?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, it's for the elites.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Obviously, I mean maybe, but I think I heard about
it from Peyton.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Very like gen Z leaned sort of steak counseling for us.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
No, they have, like gen Z, But you're the youngest
one there they were.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
We were no, but dude, they had.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
It was it was real wild because you just be
like eating and there's just like a girl that walks
by with like lights on and she's like in a
flowing dress. Did you get that dreamt? And she's just
like dancing past you, and you're like, what the hell
is going on? What is the theme of the restaurant?
Is it loud in there? They playing music?
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Really?
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Not really, but it wasn't very like.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
In the main dining room. They have an entire wall
that's just a huge led screen and they put like
aquarium type stuff all over, and then they have a
DJ booth that's like a circle and it's elevated and
I think they turn up at a certain point.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
It was pretty quiet.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
It was pretty quiet when we were there too. Anyways,
come back and see it sometimes.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Grant all, that's good for podcasts, right, I don't think so. Okay, good,
that's our afterwards podcast. J Rich
