(00:00):
The one thing you know about usCk and Carmen is we like to talk
about community events and things that arehappening right here in the five five nine
in the surrounding areas. So weknow when the coach Pete Lopes is in
town from Vegas, he's doing somereal big things. It's always a pleasure
when my brother Pete Lopes comes throughthe studio. What's up, Lopes,
How are you doing, sir?Wonderful morning? Yes sir, yes,
(00:21):
energy too. He just acted shyright now right, I guess if we'll
call it shy. But first ofall, Carmen glowing is always thank you.
I don't know how you do it. You know you did. I
see you, I see shining alittle bit little juices, Conda, Conda
(00:41):
Juke. Coach Lopes, let usknow you got in the building today.
It's it's a pleasure. I havethe Connell Brothers with me. They have
a program called Connor Brothers Boxing andit's in all the Fresnel County schools right
now. And we want to cometo you because we know you got to
have a dynamic platform to let peopleknow what they're doing and how they're saving
(01:03):
lives. They were some of myfirst kids in the Closest Pal program back
in the day twenty plus years ago. And we know how many leaders and
UH and influencers were you know, came out of that. So they're just
here to let people know, andwe wanted to let them know on your
platform what they're actually doing in theschool distance and their lives. They're changing.
(01:26):
Kids dealing with social emotional issues, kids dealing with obesity, kids dealing
with even fitting in and just beinga part of something. So that's why
I wanted to bring them to youall because I know you guys are the
ones who can let the world knowwhat's happening now. And you guys,
honestly, hearing your story too hasbeen beautiful. I mean, there's nothing
(01:46):
better than when you've lived it andexperienced it than to show these kids what
you lived in experience as well,so you can navigate this you know their
lives now, especially like you weretalking about, you know, making sure
we give these kids the opportunity tobe able to do something in their own
lane. We're talking about this evenoff air. Please tell us a little
bit about what you guys got goingon. Well, thank you for having
(02:06):
us UH Connivos Boxing. What we'redoing is we're bringing boxing to the two
schools, bringing the sport of boxingschools. And when we think of the
sport of boxing sometimes we think of, you know, what is sport of
Boxton looking like? At schools? You're teaching our kids how to put each
other and beat each other up.And that's not what we're doing. The
sport of boxing. It's been somethingthat's changed a lot of you know,
people who've done boxing has changed alot of lives and made deep impactful change
(02:30):
in their lives. And I sayboxing is just a magical thing. You
know, it humbles the wild, its strengthens the weak, and encourages the
shy kids to you know, getout of the shell. So when we're
bringing boxing in the schools, thesestudents you see exactly that. You see
the rough kids coming into our classand said, what does this boxing sounds
cool? Only be part of itand they're learning proper the art of boxing.
(02:53):
The shy kids come in, thekids that don't consider themselves strong or
or you know, don't believe inthemselves. They come into boxing with the
same group and everybody's learning the samething, and everybody is getting better and
better and better every day, everypractice, and this is something that has
been proven to making impactful change inthe life these these students are getting better
(03:15):
grades. Their parents are telling us, hey, you know, my child
is happier coming home. He's showingme what he's learning. And you know,
his little sister's little brother they wantto, you know, follow along
with it. So so that's whatwe're doing, and it's just a beautiful
thing. And the best part aboutwhat you're doing in the community is it
goes beyond the boxing. Yes,yes, definitely, Yeah, beyond beyond
(03:37):
the boxing. And uh, Iwant to even let my brother Roman jump
in there and tell you a littlebit about you know what he sees.
So yeah, I'm Roman. Uh. And what we do when we're out
in the field is that we getto see these kids. They get to
to reshape the person that they areat that moment. You know, we
see these kids coming very shy andor angry or whatever their little elements might
(03:59):
be. But we get the opportunityto switch it around on him and teach
them where we've been, where we'vebeen through and giving them that experience from
ourselves and show them how that we'rereal about it, and we're not we're
not playing any games about it.We're just here to teach you guys and
do something new with you guys.Yeah, and they love it and they
thrive off of it, and it'svery exciting to see. We love getting
the testimonials from the parents saying thatuh that they they've seen the changes in
(04:24):
their in their students and their kids. They're more respectful at home, they're
cleaning their rooms. When I gotwhen I got a mom say, hey,
my kid's cleaning his room. Nowhe ain't talking back. I'm like,
yeah, thank you for telling methat. I love it. Oh
my god, this is so special, it really is. How does someone
get involved in this program? Andhow are you spreading the word so that
(04:46):
way people know that they can bein the mix and do the after school
boxing program. So that's a greatquestion. We actually work directly with the
after school program, so we workwith the school. So whenever we're contract
to come out to a school,we show up and we we speak to
the students that are in the Atchoolprogram. We tell them what we're doing,
and the students that want to jointhey join our program. And it's
(05:10):
so new to everybody. It's sucha it's such like we call it left
hook, nothing that they're really expecting. And by the time they finish our
program, we do what's called agraduation performance where we showcase what the students
have learned over the program in frontof the parents and staff. And and
that's it's all about word of mouth. Has we've been spreading. But if
you do want us in your schools, the best thing to do is talk
(05:31):
to your after school, your principal, the directors there and request Connorbro's Boxing
on our website Connorbrosboxing dot com.We have a system in there, an
application they could just completely fill outand we will reach out to them and
get them started. And yeah, that's that's how we're spreading. It is
it's just high school, middle school. Great question, great question. We're
(05:54):
actually we start as young as kindergartenall the way up to seniors in high
schools, and we even have aprogram where the coach the students who have
done our program, they can evenbe an assistant coach, and then we're
even doing job training with them andafterwards they have a potential job to be
one of our coaches at the elementaryschools or middle school So we're really trying
(06:14):
to partner with the community. That'sa beautiful thing. The gift that gives
given so very true. So onceagain, we appreciate you guys stopping buy
Best of Left with this after schoolprogram. I know you guys are gonna
be doing good things and the realityof it is, we love how you're
giving back to the community. Givethem me information one more time and spell
it out for everybody. Yeah,so it's Kno Bros Boxing, c Ano
