(00:00):
Well, when last we left you, Thor was still in the fantasy football
playoffs in two different leagues. Andme, my fantasy season was over.
In all three of my leagues,I didn't make the playoffs. And I'll
explain why in a second. Butwe need to find out is Thor a
champion. It's time to review yourfantasy team. Here down, commissioners,
(00:28):
it's time for fantasy freakin' football.Well, first, you were in the
playoffs in the league that you startedout zero and five in were absolutely designed
at least points in the league.Eddy, it was bad. That was
bad, and then you turned itaround. Then you became credible, incredible.
(00:49):
I I got most points four times, which is crazy, and I
just went on a crazy run.The end of the year. I kind
of fizzled a little bit because ofDak kind of went down. He was
my big pickup. They got inthe playoffs. They got in the playoffs,
and the first round I had agreat start. I had Ezekiel Eli
get twenty seven points. I waskilling it, uh, and then James
(01:11):
Cook happened and James Cook got fortypoints, and to add insult to injury,
Dak got seven. So I woindup losing by twenty points. So
one and done, one one done. It sucks because the following two weeks
I scored more points anybody I wouldwant to talk about that because the next
the following week, the week theplayoffs would have begun, all my guys
(01:34):
went off like every single one ofmy worst and I'm like, dude,
But anyway, yeah, fantasy,So in that league, uh, it
was almost a win for you justbecause of how bad you started and how
you turned it around. Ohen Fropyou took from the rest of the guys
in our league. I mean itwas pretty good. I let him have
it when I made the playoffs.Guys didn't, Yeah, you sure did.
(01:55):
And so one and done in thatleague. And now we have our
work league here, the iHeart League, which that is another spot. You
made the playoffs, and that's aleague though you've never won, never won,
You've never won it twelve years.Yeah, never won that league title.
So how did the playoffs turn out? First, first round, I
scored the most points, and luckilyI did because I played the guy who
scored the second most points. Wow, So I got lucky there. Then
(02:19):
in the second round, I dominatedI played our Buddy Jim who didn't even
change out one of the guys thatdidn't play, like at the last second,
Josh Jacobs didn't play, and hejust kept him in. And I'm
like, it's the playoffs, dude. Yeah, well I did pick up
Zamir White just to screw him,and I didn't even start. You did
that. You did that with somebodyelse too. I picked up in the
other league, right, I pickedup I picked up Marcus Mariota in case
(02:43):
Jalen hurts. I'm like, lookat this guy played defense, that's right,
that's why. And then yet thispast week was the finals and I
didn't have one guy score a touchdownother than my quarterback, like Puka Nakua
got stopped at the one yard line, where she Rice got stopp at the
one round line, Christian McCaffrey gothurt, and then Zamir White got after
the one yard line. I waslosing because everyone almost scored so many times.
(03:06):
But luckily he had a bad Weektwo, and I won the championship.
You I did won the title yourfirst time ever? Yeah, I
did it, and and and Iwent over there earlier to get my title
from Rich Ornberger, who still hasit and he they were on the air.
Otherwise I just would have popped inthere and grabbed it. Oh my
god. But that's a whole otherstory. Yeah, so I won it
(03:27):
last year. Yeah, I ama three time champion in our league.
You finally got snide. You area champion once again. So congratulations.
That is huge, man. AndI was looking at my team and it's
crazy, man. And I didthis because I was bored over the vacation
and I looked at all three ofmy teams, and in both the teams
I made the playoffs scene, Ionly had two guys that I drafted starting
(03:49):
in the playoffs. Really, like, think about that draft. No,
it's just they either got hurt orlike most of the time, they got
hurt, or they just weren't good. But like my and I in our
in our work league, I hadtwo guys that I drafted play everyone else
was pickups. It's that's huge andyou're very lucky when it comes to that.
But I mean it was again itgoes back to the big declaration Week
(04:11):
one, your tight end one,Darren Waller. I mean that that was
a bad call and that just didnot pan out. Listen, all I
read about giants. I'll never trustthe beat writers ever again. Why would
you ever trust a giant ever again? Well, yeah, I never will
until they until they showed me,like five years in a row that they've
changed. But uh, all thebeat writers were saying were two things.
(04:32):
Daniel Jones has never looked more confidentin the in this offense, and Darren
Wallers is unstoppable. Those are allof all the beat writers kept right.
Again, usually they're pretty negative,so I'm thinking, man, they must
be. And Daniel Jones couldn't havelooked worse this year, and Daniel Darren
Waller got hurt again. Yeah, and it's just it's awful, terrible.
Yeah, this was a bad,bad year for me, without a doubt.
(04:54):
I that's what happened to me lastyear. Yeah. I mean,
you know, normally I make theplayoffs at least in our work. I
do pretty well in that league.Like I said, I'm a three time
champion, and I want to sayit's been at least a decade since I've
missed the playoffs. This year,I came in dead last. I have
not come in last ever, soI have the first we do in that
league. It is a reverse orderof how you finish, so I will
(05:17):
have the first pick. You're goingto have the twelfth pick, so,
you know, which I've never hadbefore. So yeah, I never but
I'm looking forward to. Really I'mlooking forward to. I don't know if
I'm looking forward to having the firstpick because it's tricky. That being said,
Yeah, I finished, you know, out of the playoffs in all
three of my leagues, and itwas because of my new strategy that I
did this year where I kind ofdrafted the same team, and you know,
(05:40):
I thought about it because I addedthat third league. I thought,
well, if I do this,I don't want guys going against each other
here here, here, It makesit too difficult to play three leagues.
I'm just going to try and getas many of the same guys as possible.
Well, what happens when your guysget hurt or I'm screwed in all
three of my leagues. So I'mnever going to do that again. That
was a bad strategy. Don't dothat. I had the point when I
(06:02):
got guys playing guys, I'm justlike, I just hope they both go
off. Yeah, and the guy, you know, that's all he is.
Yeah, Yeah, it was whatit was so congratulations championship for thor
he did it. And even finally, as bad as your start wash you
finished well. All right, itis time to hand out our awards,
which we do every year. Whoare you giving the Fantasy Player of the
(06:23):
Year Award? Two? This tome, tell this is gonna change my
whole draft from here on out, because if you have a guy like this
who week in and week out willget you twenty five to thirty points,
you're a set in fantasy because it'sso rare to have. And I'm talking
about Josh Allen. People were sayingLamar Jackson should be the MVP. Josh
Allen's got better numbers than the moreNow Lamar has got seven less interceptions,
(06:45):
but Josh Allen has forty three combinedtouchdowns this year and most and I think
he has like almost twenty rushing touchdowns. He's having a crazy year almost he's
gonna have four thousand yards passing likehe's having a monster year. And I
drafted him in the set second roundof our work draft, and I just
he's He's one of the reasons thatI made it as far as I did
(07:06):
because consistently weekend and we even ona bad week he gets fifteen points.
He doesn't get a lot of publicityright now, just because the team has
under teams going to perform, andhe had that. He had that like
a couple. He had a coupleand they were all prime time games.
Yeah, so he was throwing picksin prime time games. So everyone's like,
oh, what a turnover machine. He's gonna have forty three touchdowns.
He probably may and they may routethe Dolphins. He had a forty five
(07:30):
forty six touchdowns. That's crazy. He definitely had a good year. But
my Fantasy player of the Year isa no doubt or he was. It's
hard a lot of the times forthe first or second overall picks to perform.
You mean, just looking like JustinJefferson. Ye, Dustin Jefferson obviously
got hurt. He had a downyear, but this guy lived up to
the hype. Christian McCaffrey another guythat you had, yeah, and is
one that's one of the reason whyyou're the champion. Christian McCaffrey. I'll
(07:55):
be over two thousand yards from scrimmage. Guy has twenty one touchdowns. I
mean, he's he's a machine.Yeah, he should be the MVP.
Yeah, he got banged up alittle bit of that last game, but
other than that, he's been prettyhealthy the whole season, which was kind
of a knock on him a littlebit. But to me, if you
have McCaffrey and you didn't win thechampionship and then something else was going on,
because yeah, he had a monster, monster season. Who is your
(08:18):
biggest surprise in the fantasy season?I mean, I don't know how it
can't be Pooka Nakula. He hasone hundred and one catches, fourteen hundred
yards and five touchdowns. Do youthink he's offensive rookie of the year.
I think Casij Stroud missed all thosegames. I think so at this point.
I mean he's to me, thegreatest rookie receiving year of all time
is Odell Beckham. He missed trainingcamp, he missed four games, and
(08:39):
then he had twelve touchdowns and twelvethirty hundred yards and like ninety catches.
It was incredible. But Pukah's gonnabreak the record for the most rookie receiving
yards of all time. I mean, and this guy was a fifth round
pick. It wasn't like he wasa first round picker and in fantasy he
was probably undrafted. I picked himup after like one, right, I
think he got him, Like, yeah, I got Yeah. I picked
him up after like he had abig week two or and I was just
(09:01):
like, I might as well pickhim up and see what happens. But
you never know, we're expecting him. No, and he did have a
couple of walls here and there oflike three catches for thirty trybody. But
yeah, but I mean Fourtehenndred yardsfor a guy that you didn't even draft.
That's amazing. Yeah. Uh,my biggest surprise is a guy who's,
you know, past his prime. It looked like he is a guy
that you probably got in the laterparts of your fantasy draft, maybe seventh
(09:24):
round something like that. Weren't evensure he was going to be a starter
this year. I'm talking about thirtyone year old Raheem Mostert. I mean,
if you got him in like saythe seventh round, dudude twenty one
touchdowns over one thousand yards, wasrushing. The guy has been the guy
in Miami and that offense has beensuch high powered offense. Mostard is one
(09:46):
of the key I mean, youget anywhere near the end zone. That
guy's gonna run in. Yeah, which is where did this come from?
I don't know. And he's thirtyone, it's not like you know,
he's a young cat and he's comingout of nowhere. Now most it's been
around for a long time. Andhe's just put together an incredible season.
Uh. You know, I haveto to give a mention to to obviously
what brock Perty's done. Nobody expectedthat kind of a season. Yeah,
(10:09):
Kyron Williams came out of nowhere.I mean he wasn't even thought of at
the draft, you know. Imean I want to say, it wasn't
until maybe even like week four orfive that you started to go, oh,
Kyron Williams, maybe I should pickhim up, you know, because
Cam Akers was there and then theywere, you know, shuffling guys in
and out. And I mean thatguy came out of nowhere. So and
he put together a monster year ortwo. So that was a pretty big
(10:30):
surprise. Who is your biggest disappointmenton the year. This is tough because
obviously I could say Darren Waller.I mean obviously, yeah, but disappointed
in you. You're my biggest disappointmentfor saying that Honestly, it's funny because
when you look at his overall numbers, they're not terrible, but he wasn't.
I drafted him in the first round. And I'll talk about Travis Kelsey.
(10:52):
I drafted Travis Kelsey in the firstround. Their biggest disappointment. Yeah,
I mean, what is his numbers? Because I don't even know,
so I'm shocked by this. Hehas ninety three catches, nine hundred and
eighty four yards and five touchdowns. But I mean, if you the touchdowns
really hurt, the touchdowns is brutal. Five is brutal. Well, And
here's the thing with Travis Kelce. He had a couple monster games, right,
(11:13):
but for the most part, Imean his last few games, Eddie,
five catches twenty eight yards, fivecatches forty four yards, three catches
sixteen yards. I mean, he'snot even tight in one this year.
Sam Laporte is so like and Idrafted Travis Kelce in the first rounds and
high like third, right, fourth, fifth, Ok, maybe fourth,
fourth, but it's just yeah,I was fourth, You're right, So
(11:33):
it's just you look at Travis Kelce. He's head and shoulders above everybody else.
But like I expected a lot ofnine catches, one hundred and twenty
four yard game, two touchdown,That's what he was doing. And he
just looks slow, like he doesn'tlook like the same guy. I know
he was injured and then on thesame vein you can say Patrick Mahomes,
oh without I dude. So thatthis has been my biggest disaster is I
(11:54):
never had Patrick Mahomes in Fantasy beforeI was really pumped to get him.
I drafted I think ninth in bothof those leagues that I got him,
and I said, you know what, forget it. I'm just gonna pull
the trigger. I'm gonna get thebest quarterback out there. I'm gonna get
Patrick Mahomes. Big mistake because heagain he doesn't have terrible numbers four thousand
yards passed, but he has neverput those huge games that I expect every
(12:16):
week. If you draft a guylike Kelsey Josh Allen Mahomes, then you
need at least a couple of thirtyneed some of those monster games, and
he didn't have one. No.One. He only had twenty seven touchdowns
at fourteen picks. Now that's alot if you're Daniel Jones, but if
you're Patrick mahomest. He's never thrownfor less than I guess his In twenty
nineteen he had twenty six touchdowns tofive picks, but that was in this
(12:37):
stat he's like one of two startingquarterbacks who hasn't run one in this That
kills you, Yeah, which iswhat he's done before. How many times
is he run in for a touchdown? He hasn't done one one this year?
So yeah, that that obviously killedme. At a great year from
Homes, especially coming off five thousandyards forty one touchdowns. I mean,
it's it's just an un Mahomes likehere, And of course that's that.
(13:00):
I get him, But that's notmy biggest disappointment. My biggest disappointment.
You could say the whole team asa whole is a big disappointment, and
they kind of are every year. But if you drafted Austin Eckler, I
mean, his career maybe he heI don't know what the heck. I
feel bad for him because his he'snot getting a contract, right, Like,
no one's gonna sign him for abig contract. He's done. He'll
(13:20):
he'll end up somewhere because he youknow, yeah, he'll end up on
like a Panther's type team, youknow what I mean like that, But
yeah, Austin Eckler, I mean, what is what is you? What
do you get out of Austin Eckler? Mainly touchdowns? Touchdowns five this year?
I'm receiving too, I mean justnothing and six hundred yards rushing.
(13:41):
I mean that this is a guythat probably went late first round, early
second round. You have to havemore out of the out of Austin Eckler
from that. Now he's he's gonnaplummet next year in the fantasy draft boards.
I can't even like where would youput Austin Eckler again, it depends
where he ends up. Uh,it depends what what is exactly gonna happen.
But I mean that whole Chargers team. I mean, because Josh Kelly
(14:01):
wasn't any better when he came in. No nobody was. I mean even
you know Herbert had some games, but overall, you know, it's got
to kill you. I mean, guy got hurt, he was, you
know, having issues to with turnovers, and I mean just everybody Keenan Allen
really was the only guy that hada halfway decent season. Yeah, and
another disappointment. I just brought thatI just thought of too, is Garrett
Wilson. People drafted him high, second round and he got screwed because of
(14:24):
Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. I mean, at least I can say it wasn't
his fault entirely. You know, obviously if you if you had Rogers,
there would have been interesting to seewhat kind of season he would have put
together. But overall, yeah, pretty rough. So there you go.
That's to be the season finale ofour Fantasy freaking Football podcast. It is
over. But hey, dude,you're a champion. I don't have a
(14:46):
champion. Congratulations And Nflely you wereout there and won a championship as well,
