Speaker 1 (00:00):
When last we left you before the holidays, thor like
a jerk knocked me out of our work playoff league
in the playoffs. That was not cool. Yeah, uh so
we didn't know where you were gonna end up in
that league. Plus you had made the playoffs in our
Buddies league. That's the one where I came in dead last,
where I'm gonna get a punishment, all that great stuff.

(00:22):
So we need to find out what ended up happening
in the playoffs. In this week's edition of Fantasy Freaking Football,
it's time.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
To review your fantasy team.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Here down your.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Commissioners.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Each time for Fantasy Freaking Football Final show of the season.
Can you believe it? You really go into a depression
after the fantasy season season and then football's wrapping up.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, so, I mean the worst the worst day of
the year is the Sunday after the Super Bowl because
you turn on the TV. There's nothing because the Pro
Bowl is not the week before the Super Bowl, So
you turn on the TV and there's no football, and
it's like you're watching like Nick's Hornets and you're just like,
oh God, like this is where we're at.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
You're not gonna play fantasy basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Or no, I'm not gonna and then and then you
start to like you have like a couple of weeks
where it's miserable, and then it's like, okay, we start
here about the combine and then the mock draft start,
and that gets you through until the until the until
they d But man, those first those couple of weeks
after the super Bowl are.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Here, we are. We're wrapping up the year. Now. I
will say, uh that my OG fantasy league is so
old school that we play all the way through to
the super Bowl. And you ask, well, how do you
do that? Well, we redraft every week, so if you
make the playoffs, we'll redraft you can keep. It's like
a keep almost turns into a keeper league where you

(01:54):
can keep two guys, and then you redraft with the
players who are still in the playoffs, and you keep
going until the super Bowl. And then by the time
you're in the super Bowl, you're literally taking players that
you know, problem you're just hoping they do a little
something had a Nicole Hardman or something like that. You know.
So it's pretty wild in that league I've been playing
in for twenty five years, twenty six years something like that.

(02:17):
Really and these old guys have been playing for like
forty years, so this league has been around forever. I've
never won the championship. Oh wow, just solo. I won
a shared title my very first year. I played with
a buddy of mine, and then I eventually got my
own team. But I've never won the championship, which is bizarre,
you know, But I don't know why it's so difficult
for me and that league don't win a championship, but

(02:39):
I never have, so I'm still in it. I made
the playoffs and that one, thankfully, That's the only league
I've done somewhat pretty good in our work league. Like
I said, you knocked me out in the first round.
How did that end up for you? So?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
And I played a team that was just loaded, like
David the guy had Jamar Gibbs, which sucks because once
once Montgomery went out because became the guy. He also
had Saquon and he had Chase Brown. Wo. So I
knew it was gonna be a tough thing for me,
and I just got I got smoked. I only scored
like eighty one points and none of my guys showed

(03:10):
up except for Derrick Henry. It was just a bummer,
And the worst part about it is the following week,
I would have beat both guys in the championship, so
I would have won the champion I would have went
back to back if I just didn't have that one
bad week. That's fantasy.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
But in our Buddies league that we've been in, and
I played in this is my second year and I
finished dead last. Yeah, so I'm gonna have to have
a punishment with stinks had you end up there.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
So I started out pretty good and I had my
team just was incredible in the semis. I scored one
hundred and seventy one points. It's PPR. I had Derek Henry,
I had Nico Collins, I had Malik Neighbors. I had
Jonathan Taylor, Johnath Taylor are forty five points, Kyler Murray.
And then I made the championship and I get to
the championship and he had a good team and he

(03:56):
had a good team too, and we both kind of
He lost like three guys. I lost like two starters,
and I also had t Higgins and my team went
off again. I now like stupidly I didn't start myleak
Neighbors because I didn't think an all, well, they're playing
the Colts. This was the game they won. It was

(04:16):
windy and rainy, so I'm like, there's no way he's
gonna do anything. He squares forty freaking points. So if
I start my leak neighbors, I end up with two
hundred points. But because I didn't start him, I ended
up with like one sixty something. But I still won
like one sixty to like one oh eight. So I
ended up winning the championship.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
So you won another championship back to back years. I
won this different that's still.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I've been in this league for fourteen or fifteen years.
I started it with my buddy, and I've won it
one other time, like the third season, and since then,
I haven't even got pasted the first round. So I
was pretty pumped to win. This is a tougher. It's
a tough league. I mean it's hard to people.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Really.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
People are like fantasy nerves.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Well they're crazy when it comes to the waiver wire.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Wire, like if you are on it, you got to
be honest.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Their guys are on immediately, so it is a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I mean, people make sixty moves, fifty moves I made.
It's like sixty more.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Which is insane. I think you made it a little
over moves, but then you won the championships.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
In that league I drafted in all my leagues, I
drafted Tyron Tracy and in only one league I had
him left. What if I just would have hung on
to him rather than dropped I dropped him in two
of my three leagues.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, that does happen from time to time.
But congratulations he won a championship. That's great. Thanks, at
least one of us did.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I did not have a good fantasy year this year
at all.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I know it's I mean, shoot, before last year, I
had like back to back brutal years. So it's just
it goes in weighs. Ten I was I don't know
about ten. I was pumped at the guy that came
in second in our league, came in second, fletch over
at KGB and seven to sixty am. I was pumped
at he lost again because he lost to me last year,

(05:54):
and then this year he was talking he beat me
in the semis and he was he was. I didn't
say anything. He started talking crap about Saquon because he
had Saquon the Giants. So then this year and this
week he lost. And the reason why he lost this
is like the most football gods karma thing ever, is
because he started the Colts defense. They got minus four

(06:14):
against the Giants. He ended up losing by three. Ooh,
so I immediately after the game ended, I chirped.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Of course, you can't just let it go. Huh hell no,
oh boy, he started it, I ended it. Okay, whatever,
So there you go. That is how our fantasy seasons ended.
Hopefully you had a great season this year. Hopefully our
advice helped out a little bit. But it is time
to hand out our year end awards. We do this
every year. Who was your fantasy MVP this year?

Speaker 2 (06:44):
My fantasy MVP has to be Derrick Henry. Derrick Henry
was a second round pick for me in two leagues.
He wasn't he was thirty years old, and he started
out with a bang. In the middle of the season,
he had a little wall. He wasn't terrible, but he
was only averaging like fifteen sixteen points. But then he
ended his last three games twenty four for one sixty two,
twenty seven for one forty seven and a touchdown, and

(07:07):
then his last game twenty for one, thirty eight and
two touchdowns. I mean, my god's pretty consistent the year
and it's and again, I think he'll be a guy
who next year you can get in like the third
round because people were gonna say he's thirty one, he's
about to fall off.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
I don't know this season. I don't think he would
fall to the third.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
But he he takes care of his body. He doesn't drink,
he doesn't smoke, he eats perfectly.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
He changed, he doesn't a lot like Nu Man.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And you know what's weird about him too when you
watch him, because watched all his games this year obviously,
and I never really have in the past. He's he's like,
he doesn't look like he's that fast, Like he doesn't
look fast, but nobody.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
County breaks away.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
He's gone.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
He's gone.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, So I to me, he was, he was. He
was the fantasy MVP this year.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
There was a couple of guys that I was looking
at that I could have given this award to. Uh.
The season that Jamar Chase put together was out ageous.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
How he's not considered an MVP County Yeah, I mean
he he was crownlie and touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yeah. I also considered Jamir Gibbs as well, who had
an unbelievable year, scoring touchdowns left and right, all that stuff.
I the way I sort of looked at it though,
in not only for my m v P, but who
didn't like the biggest flop as well, is where you're drafted,
Like where you're drafted matters.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
That's why I have Derrick Henry.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
You know, yeah, like like he was a second round
since another guy who was kind of late first round,
early second round, and again nobody people kind of thought
he was a little bit washed. He wasn't gonna have
a big year. He is your guy, say Kwan Barkley.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
I mean again, nobody expected him to have.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I thought for sure he had been hurt three of
the last four years. And then also the thing about
Sakuon too, and I've seen it. I watched him play
every he was one of my favorite players, is that
when he gets kind of nicked up, he doesn't play
as well. So I just thought for sure he was
gonna get nicked up at some point, and he didn't.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah. No, this year was unbelievable, over two thousand yards
rushing rush and he didn't play in the last game.
He had fifteen touchdowns. I mean, if you got Saquon
in the early second round, I mean you did well.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
You did well, so it kills me. Is in our
work league, I drafted shoot. I drafted Garrett Wilson in
the first round because instead of Saquon, otherwise I would
have had and Derek.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Well, that's why you and and Fletcher started that words
because he was like, what do you take Saquon?

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Ifquon would have gone to any other team, I would
have been happy for him. But like going to the
division arrival.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Can't let your personal feel, you can't draft it affect
your draft. You can't do it. That's crazy, all right?
Who was your best in season pickup? Because those matter
almost more than the draft because if you are able
to snag like last season, like a Puka Nakua or
somebody who just wasn't on anybody's real radar and you're

(10:00):
able to snag him in the mid season as a
waiver wire pickup, that is humongous for the season.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
So I had I can't stand this guy as a person,
but I picked him. It was it was Aaron Rodgers.
That was my draft pick. He was like a late
round pick and I'm just like, let me just see
how go. Because I had Garrett Wilson. I'm like, let's see,
he was terrible to start the ye game. So my
pickup that saved my season in my work league, Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Wow, what a year.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
And I don't want to put quarterbacks in here, but
I mean, no one drafted Baker Mayfield and he had
a monster year. I'm talking he had forty one touchdowns,
forty five hundred yards, only sixteen picks. Its picks don't
hurt you that much in fantasy, but I mean, my god,
forty one touchdowns. Who saw that coming?

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Nobody.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I mean, I've always thought Baker got a bad rap
because I mean, he won a playoff game in Pittsburgh
with Cleveland. Then he was really hurt for a couple
of years, and he's a good quarterback and he bawled
out this.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Year without a doubt. Yeah, that's a good one. My
best in season pickup is a guy that I mentioned
before the season started as one of my sleepers, and
of course, you know, nobody listened and nobody probably drafted him.
And you know, when you looked at him in the
first few weeks of the season, you went ooh, Eddie,
Well that was not a good choice as a sleeper.

(11:10):
But then what happened with bow Knicks. I tried to
tell you guys, bo Nicks was gonna be one of
the stars of that time. I just I saw something
out of the kid. I really like you were coming out.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It's I hate to admit it, but you were right.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
I'm telling you.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
I mean, if it wasn't for Jade Daniels, he wouldin
the v he would win the Rookie of the.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Year without a doubt, and he still may I mean
jayde Dowens kind of fell off a little bit. Yeah,
but bo Nicks had an incredible season. Uh. The thing
I really liked about bow was he was running in
touchdowns too, And so if you snagged him, say mid season,
and then you know, you had to put him in
for whoever, you know, maybe somebody got hurt or whatever
and you were playing bow Knicks, that was a that

(11:49):
was a score for you. Yeah, So to me, that
was a great end season pickup if you were able
to get bow Nicks. All right, this is the one
that always gets us going. Who was your biggest fantasy
flop of the year.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
With out of doubt. I don't know how anyone could say.
I mean, I'm sure you're gonna have a good one too.
But Tyreek Hill, I mean he's he's a top five pick, Eddie,
listen to this. Eighty one catches nine hundred and fifty
nine yards, didn't have a thousand yards and only six
touchdowns and he didn't miss a game this year.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Well, I mean he did though too. I get so
not having a quarterback of one hundred affected him.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
So that being said, though Malik Neighbors didn't have a quarterback,
I mean Tyreek Hilly never had a quarterback. No, no,
he never did. Tyreek Kill's batter than the Malik Neighbors.
I'm not stupid, but like, but I mean I expected
bears in this. I expect at least a thousand yards.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
I mean, I mean they were so inept when Tua
wasn't in there that it just it destroyed Tyreek Hill.
And if you were an owner of Tyreek, I think
in both leagues that we were in together, I think
the person that had Tyreek finished in the last I mean,
well I didn't have Tyreek, but whatever they were down

(13:00):
the ball.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah, I mean he had three one hundred yard games
all year. I mean it came back at some point,
even when Tua came back five forty eight no touchdowns,
two for thirty six no touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
I mean feel like his talent level fell off because
he still looks like he's crazy fast and crazy good.
But but yeah, as a fantasy owner, I would be furious.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
And then what I don't understand is no one's talking
about it and me and you talked about it off
the air. He quit on the Dolphins in the last
game of the season. He refused to come out to
play in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Did you hear what he said after the game that
he wants out, that he's pretty much done in Miami.
You're like, what why?

Speaker 2 (13:32):
I don't get why no one's giving him more crack.
He quit on the team, So I don't know he's
a guy next year. I wouldn't say I wouldn't draft him,
but I'm very wary of Tyreek up. But he's gone
to me. Once you cross that I quit on my team,
you're a wild card. Now you could be great, or
you could go out there and decide I don't want
to play anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Antonio Brown exactly.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
No, that's that's scary man.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Well, uh, there's no question who is the biggest flop
of all Fantasy This isn't my pick, but obviously it's
Christian McCaffrey because he got hurt. Yeah, but but I
had not at the draft because remember I picked him
number one, you didn't know. And so I finally have
the number one overall pick. I've never had it before.
I was excited because the Niners are my team to

(14:16):
get Christian McCaffrey. And then literally a week later, Yeah,
he's got this thing. You're like, what thing? Yeah, and
then all of a sudden he's out forever.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
So lame that they just weren't honest about it from
the start. It sucks like they should have just said, hey,
we're putting him on our urt start season, and then
nobody would and then nobody would have drafted him.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Is that league. I still made the playoffs because because
in a genius move by me, I did take Jordan
Mason as my very last pick, which thank god I
did because he was huge for me and that that
big beginning part of the season because McCaffrey was gone.
I had McCaffrey for what two games, I think, and
he wasn't the same McCaffrey. He was two or three games,
whatever it was, he wasn't the same guy, and so

(14:53):
that that was horrific.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
It'll be interesting to see where he goes next year
because like.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Who McCaffrey, he's still on the team, and.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I'm talking about fantasy fantasy will be like a mid
to late first round.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yeah, it depends on what you gotta hear, Like I mean,
because he's still hopefully going to play.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
But he's twenty nine now.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
And it's this is supposed to be like a chronic Yeah,
it's not good. I also have to mention the season
that Priest Hall had. He was the guy who was
like top three who you know, if you look at
his numbers, he didn't have a thousand yards rushing. He
had maybe combined one thousand yards rush. Wilson Carrol Wilson
is enough obviously just the Jets in general, that's a

(15:30):
massive disappointment. But the guy that I'm going to say
that it is my biggest fantasy flop of the year
because so much big things were expected out of him.
But the other rookie wide receiver way out played him
is Marvin Harrison Junior. Yeah, Molik nighbors had an incredible year.
Now he had to up and down season, you know.
And again I don't really blame him that much because

(15:51):
he didn't have a quarterback. But Marvin Harrison, there's no
reason this guy shouldn't have had a massive season. He
didn't have a thousand yards. He only had sixty two.
Think about that. If you're in PPR and you drafted
Marvin Harrison Junior, were like, here we go, Like this
guy had there was such big hype about him. He
was supposed to be and he.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Has a quarterback. Yeah, he's a decent quarterback. He's not great,
but he's decent.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
And you just expected so much more. Yeah, And so
again it's based on where you drafted him. In a
lot of leagues, he was a first rounder, Yeah, first round.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I thought about drafted him.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah, and he ended up a lot of leagues fall
in the second round.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
He can't miss. He's going to come in immediately. But
I mean, Brian Thomas Junior is a guy that completely out.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
He could have been the biggest surprise of the year.
But without doubt, Like I had Marvin in one of
my leagues and I'm just like, where where is this guy?
Like some games you had one catch, What the heck?
I don't understand. He looks like he's got all the talent. Yeah,
And then there are some games he'd make an incredible
catch and I'd be.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Like, what, Sometimes you don't see him getting any getting open.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, it's weird. It doesn't and they wouldn't even target him. No,
I don't understand that. So there you go. Uh, it's
been a very interesting season. Congratulations on another championship for you.
Hopefully I'll continue to play and then uh, and then
we'll let you know next yeason. Then you know, and
we'll keep it going it is until next year. We'll
see you
