Well, this came down after the show yesterday, but we're
pretty excited. One person is very excited that we are
going to be talking to Scott Stapp from Cream this
morning at nine am. Who considers Scott a good friend?

So discutstep. Yeah, I am. It was an exciting day
yesterday as well. I don't know. I saw this on
the news yesterday and I was, uh, you know not
I took pause. I guess I wasn't. There was zero concern,
I can say that, but I did take pause and
look and went, wait, what h There was a massive
earthquake that happened. I think in like the Atlantic Ocean

or something. I don't even know. It was over by
Russia wherever that is.

Nobody knows.

Yeah, it was pretty wild because I couldn't wrap my
head around where the location is because they were talking
about how it's off of Russia, but the West Coast
is affected. But the way a flat map works, those
two places aren't connected.

This is big, you know what I mean?

So I can't.

Rout the earth is round. I know it's round, I
don't think.

All I can picture is a flat map and the
end of it is the West Coast.

So I'm like, I literally couldn't picture where this.

Was happening and had to google an image to figure

Or miss certain it was. It was a big earthquake.
I think it was like eight point seven what I heard.

It turns out to be an eight point eight.

At first they were saying eight point seven eight point
the strongest globally since twenty eleven, now a few years ago.

No, that was like a three pointer, bro, And now one.

Of the craziest things I've ever been in my life.
It was I've never been more scared in my life
than that.

After earthquake, Well, that's how big the one was that happened.

I mean it was literally just a little shaker and
you were panicked. Yeah.

And after the fact you were panicked. Yeah, it stopped
and you were worse.

There's after shocks broken after a maybe maybe in this
case they would be hard, Oh, maybe they'd be more.

Think that's how earthquakes is huge.

It's now one of the top ten strongest worldwide, like
ever on record.

That means the big ones coming.

Emily stopped saying that you live here, but I but
I but I'm aware, Like I know it's going to
happen eventually. Well you don't freeze, Yeah, I don't free
you know, Yeah, I know it's coming.

We'll get ready. It was so big that it's it
was in the ocean, so it's going to cause tsunamis.
And so as I'm walking by the TV, the news
is on and I see, uh, tsunami warning blah blah blah,
and I'm like what. And I looked at it and
I saw on the screen the places that could be targets.

Obviously Hawaii was the biggest one, and they said, you know,
Hawaii first, and then I saw the different places and
the one that caught my eye was Newport, Oregon. What
which If you don't know, Sky, Sky's a resident.

If you'd like to know my story, currently live in
San Diego, bought a home in Newport, Oregon and hope
to retire there.

You know, I gotta tie story. I gotta tell you story.
I may or may not have chuckled a little bit. Well, Well,
how funny would it be is if, after all this time,
this guy loses this organ house because he wants to
live on the coast, has to live on the coast,
and gets hit by a tsunami with that takes it out.

That would not be funny. Whole one. She's gonna lose
two homes.

Gone, okay, and I'm going to have beachfront proper now,
and Tula and too I and two. I thought she's
so worried about the Oregon house. Who knows if they're
contemplating having her husband fly out to check.

Three sense of urgency that was going on in the
sky household last night.

Did you hear it?

Yeah, my daughter was doing some back to school shopping
with some friends. I picked her up around five ish,
and all of a sudden, she goes, Mom, what's up
with this tsunami alert? And I'm like, I don't know
what you're talking about, but you say tsunami alert and her,
oh wow.

So I'm driving and.

Speaker 9 (06:48):
It's like rush hour traffic, so you like really got
to pay attention. And so I'm but I'm dying to
grab my phone and figure out where is this earthquake?
Is the Oregon house at risk? Are we at risk
in Sand Diego? What's going on? So as soon as
I get home, I run in and I turn on
like National News, you know, because I have all these
weird like live channels that I never watch. So it's

some like NBC National News type thing, and so they're
doing their pre set stories. But in the corner they
got images of the ocean, and I am just locking them.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
I walked into that little little box.

Speaker 9 (07:27):
They're showing Japan and people standing on roofs. They're talking
about big hotels in Hawaii evacuating.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
And all I want to know is what's going on
with Oregon.

Speaker 9 (07:38):
But clearly that was not the top hotspot for the news.
But I was locked in, and then the phone started
blowing up, blowing up, blowing up.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Uh huh.

Speaker 9 (07:49):
I had a couple friends reach out and be like,
is your Oregon house okay?

Speaker 4 (07:54):
And then my mom Yeah, but my mom and my
brother I.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Would take hours to get there, like you would hear
the first Yeah, we would hear Japan. Yeah it's not
there yet.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Gas lighting ridiculous thing to do.

Speaker 9 (08:12):
Yeah, more like thinking about your Oregon house and then
sending me the link to the news story. But the
big like emergency doomsday prepper, probably the biggest I know
my mom and my brother, Uh, they like for Christmas,
will gift you a ten gallon bucket of emergency supplies.
They're that people. So my mom asked if I was

going to call the Oregon tenants.

Why to let them know, yes, well, and I'm assuming they.

Speaker 9 (08:42):
Don't they have the news internet television. Yeah, so I
just I didn't even get into I just playcated my mom.
I'm like, oh, thanks, you know, like I'm not even
I'm not even getting into it. But uh, she thought
we should call. But uh, you're giving up. I mean,
I mean they're so aware of tsunamis in this town

in Oregon that like it's where you drive by and
there's actually lines painted letting you know, like tsunami line.

You know, there are a lot of tsunami.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Yeah, I don't know about the ring of fire. I
don't know.

Speaker 9 (09:18):
You guys say about the Pacific Ocean the ring of fire.
There's some taults out there, and they're saying, I don't.

Know, it's.

Something different, but yeah, no, they actually like in different
parts of the town where it kind of dips down
to the bay, there are actual big blue lines with
signs on the side of the road and it says
tsunami lines. So you know that if there's a if
the sirens go off, you need to run above that line.
That's the point where you need to pass to be

safe from said.

You want to retire there in like what ten years,
hopefully your house is still there.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
But it's up on a cliff.

And so I've seen that. Remember that tsunami, tidal wave
and deep impact that cliffe Uh standing there.

that was my day. Wow. Well very dramatic, yes, not
quite as dramatic as what Emily went through with this tsunami.

On another level, Mesa, Yeah, I do live in La Mesa.
So I was eleven girls, I don't there's nothing I mean,
I didn't mean to insult you like that. Even further,
there's nothing wrong with Lemon girl. I go there all
the time. I'm very close to it. But I do
live in the Masa. I do live in the Mesa.
So no, I wasn't worried for my own safety. Yesterday,
my son Reid went uh with my mom and he

was going to stay the night at grandma's house. My
mom lives in downtown San Diego, right by support Village
in a high rise condom. So my son was staying
there and they had dinner and they were hanging out
in the evening, and it was around seven fifteen ish
that I get a text for my son, and it

is a frantic text. Oh yeah, it's a frantic text
that I see coming. I didn't even hear about the tsunami.
I was watching the Padre game, so I didn't know
about it.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
But I didn't you missed it, miss there was a
tsunami of runs at.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, like I was. That was a ridiculous thing.

Speaker 8 (11:31):
I don't know, but still I was talking about the
potter as how well they did. So I so I
actually wasn't locked into the news last night, I for
you know, I usually am anyway, so I wasn't paying attention,
watched the Padra game, and I get the text from
my son saying, Mom, exclamation point, exclamation.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Exclamation, Oh yeah, tell me, what do you think that from?
Does he gasp? You think? Oh, without a doubt. It's
a family trait.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
When you hear crazy news, you have to gasp.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Okay, like Robert my man does a gas because he's
not blood, but like ready family, everybody in the family gas.

Deep family.

The over usage of explamation points, so we got a.

Speaker 8 (12:10):
Couple grabs all of it. You're saying that, thank you
for saying that, mom. Exclamation explanation point. Do you know
about the tsunami question mark, explation point, exclamation wow. And
then that's when he sends me a severe weather alert
that he got from Apple, which I'm assuming other people got.
I don't even know if I got it or not.
But he got some severe weather alert that's letting you

know about this. And that's when he says, Mom, they're saying,
if you live in a harbor or near Marina's leave
and go to higher ground. He's at my mom's house, Marina.
I don't know if it's this is all that.

I did see that it was. I got a text
from my mom as well.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Guys, really she's concerned.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Nothing, just newsworthy cure about Hey, I just saw tsunami
morning for the entire West coast Russia had an earthquake,
not asking if I was.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Okay, oh, just letting you know.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
So then that's how I found out. And she is
exclamation points, no exclamation points. I don't even think she
used the period. I looked and it was the entire
West coast, so it was San Diego.

Speaker 9 (13:20):
Okay, yeah, yeah, so I know for the harbors. They
were specifically talking about Hawaii. I don't know about, but okay, but.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Read always reading his headlines. He's not digging into deep stories,
just a headline.

He's a big headline guy, a big headline guy freaking out.
So that's when now I understand where where this is
going and what why he's texting me this, because that's
when he says, I really think I need to go home,
And that's when I start.

Yeah, read's fifteen now going to grandma's back when you're
ten eleven, and like he's it's brutal, but when you're younger,

to go home. I think it'd be safer if I

really got me. What, mom, something in my gut is
telling me, something in my guts telling me tell you what.

of had to dig for the story. Like NBC had
it in a little like square on the website. But
you think it would be everywhere.

in the US. Well, we're going to see what the
opposites are. We're going to go over where the top
rated tourist attractions are in the US. When we get

yesterday we were talking about the biggest tourist traps in
the US. That just started like waste time, waste of money,
that kind of thing. While we have the opposite now,

I guess we have the top tourist attractions and experiences
in the US.

Yeah, so they let us know the top attractions according
to trip Advisor and all their readers here in the US,
and then also experiences. Now, the experiences are things that
are going to actually cost you money. But are normally
also considered attractions. So when it comes to just the
top attractions in the US, this is what trip Advisor says.

Coming in tenth place, we have Alcatraz.

Alcatraz is cool. I mean, I don't know that I
do it more than the one time I've done it.
But the one time I did it, I liked it.
I thought it was interesting.

museum in Palm Springs. I went to It was pretty interesting,
probably nowhere near the scale of what the right, Yeah,

an underwater park where they've like intentionally sunk in like
old ships and stuff to get so many fish and turtles.
So like it's really like if you want to go
scuba diving.

When we went snorkeling in Key West, there was like
a a Jesus statue in the water they put down
They put down there, and it's weird. It's weird though.
It's kind of freaky, you know, because it's like it's

The number five top tourist attraction in the US goes
to the Stetson Mansion in Florida. So like the stets In,
like the brand Stetson. I guess the dude who created
it has a massive mansion in Florida that you can
now go in and tour and people must be impressed

Park is cool. I mean I really enjoyed it. You know,
I've been there a few times. Yeah, it's really cool. Yeah,

Empire State coming in as the number two top tourist attraction.

And number one goes to the NASA Kennedy Space Center
visitor complex.

I would learn. I'm surprised you've never been. I know,

Yeah, We've been in Chicago couple times for work and
I always wanted to do that, but I never had time.

Number two experience in the US is the Haunted Salem
Walking Tour in Salem, Massachusetts. And number one is the
Grand Tour around Honolulu. It's sixteen locations plus snorkeling. And
I went to the website and it's like sold out
way in advance.

They take you to sixteen spots plus you snorkel So
that sounds.

the miners, okay, and then you get brought up into

Yeah, So tell me about your book, because this is
why you're on and this is always cool when wrestlers
write books. Thor and I are massive wrestling fans. We've
always loved it, and so whenever we get a book
from a wrestler, it's really interesting stuff. What is your
book all about? It's called Life is Fighting.

Speaker 12 (32:16):
Yes, I would describe my book as a bit of
a memoir actually, and I know a lot of wrestlers
do books about wrestling. Yeah, of course there's wrestling in
my book. But I've had a very unique life in
the sense that it hasn't been exactly a Brady Bunch
television show. I've had a lot of different things to overcome,
and I've just come to find in my own self
discovery that you can't really be vulnerable with people and

(32:39):
have like an open discussion until you've gotten through things
and you've processed them and you can kind of calmly
talk through your losses and how you recovered. And that's
especially what the book is about. It's about recovering from
different situations in life and not being afraid to go
for something when you don't have a perfect hand to play.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Did you have a tough upgrading, up upbringing or in
child stuff like that.

Speaker 12 (33:01):
I don't necessarily know if it was tough, But I
grew up in New York before Giuliani cleaned up the city,
and I can just tell you that if you've ever
seen the movie Escape from New York. Yeah, like once
the Sun went Down back in like the late eighties,
early nineties, like everyone was running everywhere. No one was walking, and.

Speaker 10 (33:18):
I thought that was really weird as a kid.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
Yeah, no one was walking, you were running, and I
think it was because they really didn't want to be
outside where I lived.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
That's pretty crazy. So, you know, you've talked about your struggles,
and I got to be honest, watching your career in
the WWE, it hasn't been easy either for you. You know,
you went through these different you know times where you
know your job has been on the line and things
have been happening and all these things. Talk about a
little bit, how you see your WWE tenure so far.

Speaker 12 (33:52):
You know, I wouldn't change any of it the way
it's played out, because it's actually led me to having
a very unique and strong relationship with the audience. I'm
just going to state the obvious here, and it's kind
of the elephant in the room. You know, when like
an entertainment corporation tries to shove anybody down the audience's throat,
whether it's wrestling, music, movies, TVs, you can feel it.

(34:13):
And I definitely have not been somebody that they've done
that with. And I think that oftentimes, having an organic
relationship with the audience and a connection comes from being
a person who the audience can see is persevering against
a lot of different invisible hands, so to speak. So
I wouldn't change any of it. It hasn't been perfect.
It's been very challenging, and it's actually led me to

(34:34):
hear and this isn't something that you can recreate with anybody.
I've got something special here with the crowd, and I
feel so honored, sincerely and so privileged to have that.
It's a real thing, and it's even going on, like
when people aren't even seeing it, Like everywhere I'm going
in life, I've got people coming up to me and
telling me their life stories and talking about how they've
been fans of mine for years and people are finally
seeing it. Everyone's got like some sort of story of

(34:56):
where they were and what was going on when they
saw me doing something. Hasn't always been that way, and
that feels really amazing.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Well, Carrion, you know, to be honest with you, as
as a wrestling fan, we see talent and we see
you you are, you know, have a phenomenal look, you
have a phenomenal character, all these things, and we're always wondering,
like why why aren't we getting more of him, and
when we don't get that what we want as fans,
it is frustrating. And so the fans are voicing their

(35:24):
opinion and saying, give us more, Carrion, give us more.
And it's sort of the same thing happened when you know,
our truth got fired and like the fans are going
to voice their opinions those kind of things, and you
get like this almost movement behind you.

Speaker 12 (35:37):
Yeah, and listen, they should. This is there's there's something
that's been happening for a long time in in entertainment
where the art within the entertainment gets sterilized for you know,
the sake of monetization, and that that's got it. There's
got to be a common ground where that people can
still be heard and they can get what they're looking
for out of what they're watching, because that's what it's

all about. The people aren't there, we wouldn't be here.
So as things are changing and developing and entertainment, we've
got to find the middle ground. We can't just do
everything by numbers because that's not how art works now.

going to be amazing. But let me take you back

make you lose in like two minutes, and then Vince
comes at you and gives you a helmet and suspenders
and like completely changes you. What was your thought process

when Vince is telling you all these things and basically
changing your character. How tough was that to get through?

Speaker 12 (36:43):
I was thinking at the time that I had too
much momentum through NXT, and I thought that that threatened
a lot of people because I was given the opportunity
at that time to that one hundred some of the
best in the business and h create at an entity
in NXT that was being perceived in the eyes of

equity in the audience at the same level as main roster.
And I always felt like I was the one who
kind of took like the hits to kind of hurt that.
That's the way I felt. Whether it was really that
way or not, I'll never know, but all I can
tell you is how I felt, And that's what I
thought was going on. I remember fans online on the
internet were booking me and Scarlett versus Bobby Lashley and

MVP versus Roman Reigns and Paul Hayman, and at the time,
no one was really fantasy booking NXC champions against main
roster people, but people felt like I was going to
land up at main roster and we had that vibe,
so I was honored.

they kept going yesterday against the Mets next to sports

big part of the game. It was one one until
the sixth inning when Jackson Merrill had an RBI triple

back in May of twenty twenty. You were great, it
was great. How is everything going since then?

I think you can see the fruits of sobriety in
what's going on in my life, man, and just taking
it one day at a time, and God has build
grow and we're excited out here doing these shows and
rocking these fans and just grateful for the resurgence and
the rebirth and everything that lies ahead.

It is incredible to see Scott. How you know, you
guys were such obviously a massive act and then now
here we are and you guys are as big as ever.
What do you equate that to?

You know, it's a combination of a lot of things,
but I think the main thing is just it's starting
going viral online. During COVID Yeah, you know, people were
locked down and they were digging into into old, older
music and started making videos and sharing it with their kids.
And just one after the other, videos kept going viral

in twenty twenty, twenty twenty one, twenty two, and it
was like a tsunami. You know, the wave just started
to build and build them and it's just blowing our
minds to see the impact that that social media has
had on the resurgence of this band, without doubt.

Yeah, and one of the videos that obviously goes viral
every year on Thanksgiving is your Wild Thanksgiving halftime shime Cowboys. Yeah,
and that goes viral every year. And my favorite My
wife loves you guys, massive Creed fans. She's going to
the show on next Wednesday and she loves that video.
What are your thoughts? Take me back to that video,

because that is a that's a wild performance you guys did.

That's I mean, I mean, we get a kick out
of it from looking back at it. I mean, I mean,
to be honest with you, I mean, it was a
real income true for me to be invited to play
halftime to the Dallas Cowboys. I mean they were my
favorite football team since I was a little boy, and
so that was one of those bucket lists, uh, things

to check off, you know, to be able to be
involved with him for that experience. And then as far
as the production and everything that went with with you know,
we were a young brand and we were just excited
for the opportunity and we had no unfundment, uh and
and all that and and looking back, you know, there's
a lot of humor in it, you know, with the
guy frond sure off, the ballheaded guy and all the

other crazy stuff. But you know, I Kick came at
a really a really important time, uh in in our country.
You know, I'm believing it was right after nine to eleven,
and uh, you know, it just connected with people, you know,
it was it was. It was just so American. And

I was grateful and the band's grateful to be for
that moment and for it to keep researching and live
on living. Yeah everything everything that's great and you know,
hopefully the Super bowls.

came to me pretty recently and is like asking me
about artists that she considers like you know, older artists.
She's like, dad, have you ever heard of this band

mean three eleven? Or have you ever heard of the
Smashing Pumpkins? And then she asked me, have you ever
heard of Creed? Have I ever heard of Creed? I
played Creed music, you know, when there was originally out,
Like I mean, so it's pretty wild that you are
now like the new generation is discovering you guys. You
were talking about that a little bit earlier, but I
mean we're seeing like young kids like discovering Creed.

Yeah, it's so cool to see and they're discovering they're
discovering it. It's you know, we're a brand new band, righty.

Like they figured out Creta totally.

And you know, I noticed this with my daughter over
the last four years. She's a musician, and I'd go
up to check on her and I'd walk in her
room and she's got her guitar out and she's jamming
Nirvana riss or playing old sound Garden. And I had
no idea that she was even you know, digging into
that music. And so I think there's been a wave

of bit and to see our fans, you know, the
young fans. I mean, we're selling eighty percent of our
tickets to fans I think between the ages of eighteen
and thirty.

And so we're starting to see, you know, even the
younger kids, the high school kids. And the same thing's
going on with my solo, my solo band, my new
solo record. When I do solo shows, the audience is
so young and they know all the songs and it's

a grateful heart for all of it, because it such
an anomaly and it's so rare, and we're just enjoying ride,
you know, from a different perspective this time than we
did back in the day.

a and uh And I really value her opinion, uh
and her instincts and her insight. You know, she should
be like dad, the bridge kind of drops there. I
think you need to go back and.

So Who's fifteen, Milan's eighteen, Daniel's fifteen. And Daniel got
the artistic bug in terms of acting. You know, he's
made three or four films and fifty five episode TV
series and he also can sing. He got the voice
and the family, but he's wanting to act right now.
And then my youngest, uh, Anthony, who's Who's seven, he's

got the bug too. He can sing and he loves music.
So I guess it is in the gene that's gotta be, yeah, Scott,
And I guess, and I guess being around it, you know,
kind of tourists, and since you're young, it just becomes
your normal, and I think it just seeps into.

you're sober. You're on my podcast a few years ago, Uh,
touring sober. I got to ask you about that because
it's got to be tough. Like one of my favorite
artists is eminem and the guy doesn't tour ever, and
he's been sober a long time and he never tours.
I don't know if it's a sobriety thing. He doesn't
want to do it. How does it go for you?
Because you're on a lot of tours right now, you're
doing cruises. How do you maintain that sobriety while you're

sober while you're on tour?

So well, you know, I kind of keep myself in
a bubble, and you know, it's just it's not the
lifestyle that I live. A very healthy lifestyle, exercise, diet,
very very disciplined lifestyle. It's just something that I'm not
involved in. I mean, it doesn't bother me that other

people are having a good time having drinks and doing
their thing. It's just something that I don't do, you know.
I mean, I've learned my lesson quite a few times
at gat rock Bottom quite a few times. And I
like to make the joke that I'm so allergic to alcohol.
Every time I drink it, I break out and I'm
tufts and end up on the six and people think

I'm kidding, like Google, you know, So so for me, man,
it's just a decision. It's just a lifestyle change that's great.
And uh, you know, it took a while to get there,
but you know, once you get there and that decision,
it gets easier every day and then it's just something
that you just don't do. And so you're you know,

basically you're a free man. You know, you could be
around anything, but it's just something that you don't do.
So I don't find touring a problem at all or
you know, going out being around people that are that
are living that lifestyle. It's just something I don't do.
