Centennial. But on the bright side, your Ames Little Cyclones having a heck
of a season fifteen and six undefeatedin the Iowa Alliance North. They are

time. They are coming off ofa sixty five to forty seven home loss

downs to preview the Southeast Polgrams.Falling last night to a really good Valley
team. You went down seventeen tofive, but you just can't seem to
get over the hump after falling downearly. The team did respond well though
at all the quarters after that,didn't go down more than four points.

We're able to keep up with Valley. It was just that early start kind
of hurt you guys. How didyou like the response though from your team?
I thought the kids did something,you know, a nice job in
response in the final three quarters,and you know, it's that's a it's

(05:00):
a really impressive opponent that we playedagainst. But uh, I was a
little surprised with I, you know, I don't I don't know if we
were in awe or just a littlesurprised at what they brought to the table.
We had we had had a prizescrimmage with them. The only addition,

and it's a significant addition, isRobinson played this time. So and
then they shot the ball extremely wellto start the game. And it's hard
when Valley puts it all together offensively. When they when they're shooting it well,
and obviously they have a tremendous drivegame and uh they run some good
two and stuff. It's really hardto defend. But uh, uh,

you know, we just got offto a slow start and uh, but
the last three quarters, I thoughtthey responded pretty well. We had an
opportunity to cut it to nine,and the fourth I wish we would have
we we just didn't capitalize, andthen it got it was stretched out again
and they put us this lead.What was it do though, from a

confidence level in your squad, especiallywith Substate coming up and all the playoff
action right around the corner, justto see a team not get down even
though the score may put you downearly, the team doesn't get down on
themselves early, you know. Ithink it does as a world of good.

I think you're going to play againsta faster paced, more athletic team
at some point in the playoffs,you would you would hope, you know,
And I don't think we're going tosee anybody more athletic than Valley at
end point in the playoffs. SoI think that part's good for us.

The positives we can draw from itare good for us. So we're hoping,
you know, although we didn't comeout with the W, we're hoping
that it's a win for us.Is there something specifically you saw last night
that maybe you hadn't seen fully developthroughout the other games in the regular season

that made you proud of this team, Like, were they crashing the glass
a little stronger than usual. Wasthere something you saw from Aims last night
that gives you even more confidence movingforward? Well, you know, just
the fight to see come back inthe second quarter, show somebody, then
show more in the third, andthen that you know, I think we
all kind of felt it in thatfourth quarter where we had chances to cut

into single digits, where the kidswere getting a tremendous amount of confidence and
making a few plays and you know, just you know that piece so I
think will help us in the future. But I think we learned some things
from it too, you know,spacing offensively, decision making, you know

how you know, this is away we have to play against really good
opponents, and maybe it cleaned upsome bad habits for us. You know,
we haven't had a lot of practicetime on the schedule that we've had,
and some of the things that wedid born in last night. They
certainly took advantage of it. Thehighlight highlighted that for us. As far
as lessons. You bring up thatschedule and you talked about it before we

started recording, about the nine gamesin fifteen days. Is there a benefit
though, of playing back to backgames, especially when you come off a
loss where the kids don't have anopportunity to really think about it. You
know, the horn goes off andyou're like, all right, time to
get ready for Southeast Polk tomorrow.I mean, I think there's a benefit

to do it a little bit.You know. I don't know that it
becomes beneficial when thirteen year games areback to back. You know you're going
to be faced with that in thestate tournament. That's a good thing.
You want to experience that. Unfortunately, this year's schedule and it's been this
way for everybody, I think it'sbeen tough. I think the bodies,

everybody's body hurts the same of year. I think we got a significant amount
of soreness and aching going on rightnow that we need to battle through for
one more night, take a coupleof days off, and get ready for
the playoffs tonight. You guys haveSoutheast Polk, a team that has struggled,

only five wins on the year,but they have a really good offensive
player in Body Goodman twenty one pointsper game, the only player with ten
points per game or more. Whathave you seen from Southeast Polk that maybe
gives Aims an opportunity to bounce backafter last night. Well, I don't
know if I see that it givesus a you know, it's a weakness

for them. I just I seethat they spread the flour really well.
They're well coached, they player andGoodman is a handful. I mean,
he's gotten everybody's best shot and hestill sits their average in twenty one and
ciml. I think it'll be achallenge for us, and collectively we're going
to have to all chip in toaccount for him, and hopefully we don't

give up, you know, twelvepoints to a guy that doesn't usually get
anymore than from work, that typeof thing. And you know, I
think for you know, until theend of the season, which I hope
is far far away, a keyperformance indicator for us is going to be
how we do on the defensive boards. We're not very big. We've got

to be really disciplined about keep puttingbodies on people and not missing anybody and
saying we cannot give people second opportunities. And if we can do that with
Pope, you know, I likeour chances. You always want to get
out and run and kind of youknow, take over the turnover battle.

(10:54):
Rams have struggled throughout this entire seasonwith turning the ball over a lot in
games, aims a really good defensiveteam. Where do you see, is
there going to be a certain matchupsyou want, like Winter on Goodman or
anything specific like that that may helpyou win the turnover battle. Well,

I don't know if the matchups necessarilyare going to make a huge difference in
the turnover battle. We might changedefenses a few times to see how they
deal with some things, and ifthey deal with them, well then we
won't stay in it. And ifthey struggle, we'll stand some things.
But as far as the matchups,I don't know if that's going to contribute
a lot. But we got todo what we do really well. And

for the most part, these kidshave taken care of the ball. They
shine in really good free throws andare pretty good in transition. So if
we can continue to do that offensively, I think we're in pretty good shape
offensively. Again, if we canhave great getback, not giving anything that
is against the said defense, blockpeople out at defensive boards, it you

the Ames Little Cyclones come back onnext Monday, and as they get ready
to start substate at home against MasonCity. But tonight they take on the
Southeast Polk Rams, who the startingfive will be aj Shaeffer, a senior
guard standing out six feet, BodyGoodman, a junior, Sam Zalonovich,
also a junior, along with JacksonBarton and Trey Lust. Of course,

the Southeast Polk Rams are led byAlan Jenkins. Your Ames Little Cyclones,
who we heard from vance downs earlierin the pregame show, will be led
by Jack Winner, A Voss,Will Thomas, Jamison Poe returning. He
did play yesterday, but it hadbeen a while since the last time we
saw Jamison Poe play, and itwill be Jack Winner, Jamison Poe,

Will Thomas, A Voss In,Murrah Dow the big sophomore center standing at
six seven Here tonight, but aswe get ready for this one. It
is your Ames Little Cyclones fifteen andsix, undefeated in the Iowa Alliance North
Conference with an eight in OER record, and they have the Southeast Polk Rams.

They have been struggling this year fiveand fifteen one in fifteen in the
CIML. For the visitors Southeast Polk, they are a team that has not
won one since January twenty second,That is losing six straight games by five
wins on the season as the LowessRam team has finished list since before two
thousand and six. They've had afew seven win seasons scattered through there,

but definitely a season full of strugglesfor the Rams. They're coming off of
a ninety one to fifty three lossat Wakee in the six game losing streak
Southeast Polk. The closest match wasan eleven point loss to Acony Centennial.
Now for your Ames Lit Cyclones alot more positive. They were on a
seven game winning streak before last nightwhere they fell at home to a really,

really talented Valley team. Not alot of people have been able to
slow down the Tigers, but theylost sixty five to forty seven. Games
went down early seventeen to five andafter that just was not able to slow
down the Tigers. It was athirty four to eighteen Valley lead at halftime
and just never got over the hump. But despite having the largest loss of

the season thirty eight points to theTigers, Little Cyclones have an opportunity to
get one more win notched in theirbelt before taking on Mason City next Monday
to start Substate Ames fifteen and sixeight and Oher taking on the five and
fifteen one in fifteen in the CIMLSoutheast Pole Rams. Once again your starters

Brody Goodman, who we will sayhis name quite a bit, averaging

that is Jack Winner. He willdrive Baseline, has to kick it out

to Jamison Poe. Now back out. It's a boss. Now he kicks
it over to Jack warning he's gonnadrive to the left block, rolls over
left handed layer up off the glassand it's good. Two nothing early.
Jack Winner getting started early for theAmes Little Cyclones and now bringing up the

on the shot clock, Lust withit, finds the cutting Goodman and he
lays it in with the right hand. Just a really good drawn out inbound

the right block and looks like there'sgoing to be a whistle there and it's
going to be on a J.Schaeffer, the senior guard standing at six

by Jamison Pope Man a man defensefor the Ames Little Siphones. Now it's
less at the top of the key. Finds a cutting Goodman at the right
block. Now he has to kickit back out to Schaeffer on the right
wing. He stutter steps left,goes into three Names Little Cyclones defenders and
lays it up with the right hand. Strong move there by the small guard

Southeast Polk with their first lead.Here comes Ames down the floor. Jack
Winner's gonna fire up a three fromthe left wing. That one's long,
but a whistle here and let's seethey call it on. That's gonna be
on Jackson Barton and he looked likea dove in the back. So James
will get the ball back down byone here in the first quarter with five
forty six to go, James andPoda about it on the right side.

Kicks it over to the right corner. The jack winner Winner now crosses up
in towards the middle of the paint. Stuttered step and that's a travel getting
a little too excited there as hetried to hit into a spin move towards
the middle of the paint. Butgood close out defense there by the Rams
to make him uncomfortable and turn theball over. Good Man now brings it

up the right side, has iton the right corner. He's gonna drive
baseline, kicks it out to theopen three. That's up and that's in
and out by Schafer on the leftwing, rebounded by Jamison Poe Poe.

the left side. Now it's lostat the top of the key. Trying
to find a cutting Schafer instead hasto hand it off to him on the

So inbounding it right in front ofthe scorer's table is Goodman gets it

so he will be leaving and sittingon the bench. So Manny Loose heads
to the bench. Isaiah Knight comesin and Cameron straw Hacker, the James
Little Cyclones quarterback during the football season. He is in and there's an end

bounce pass to the Lust at thetop of the key. Finds a cutting
big man in Barton and he laysit in and that's gonna be a foul
and one Goodman heading to the linefor an old fashioned three point play.

down by one. Jamison Pope bringsit up with the right hand, crosses
over to his left, goes tothe left block, has it locked that

Cyclones to force the Rams to haveto go into the paint and for It's
a tough shot, but it landed. That's Jackson Barton faking left, going
right with the right handed hook shotoff the glass, and it's now a
