First up, as usual, thevarsity girls here tonight. Ames,
coming in nine to seven four onein the Iowa Alliance Conference. They snapped
a two game losing streak on Tuesdaywith a dominant sixty three to thirteen win
over Hoover. They are now goingup against another IOWA Alliance South Conference team

which they are four and h versus. After taking down Hoover, they are
now four and three at home thisseason and try to snap a two game
losing streak to these Polar Bears.They're zero to two in the last two
meetings, and some news for theAmes Little Cyclones. Last time out here
on Tuesday, we talked about someinjuries. Sophia Hatcher one of the key

role players coming off of the bench, probably the sixth man on this Ames
Little Cyclones team, still wearing thatblack boot on the left ankle, still
dealing with that sprained ankle. Alsodealing with an injury but dressed ready to
play is Victoria Williams. She's dealingwith the spring foot. We saw her
have more or less minutes than typicalon Tuesday. Also to point out Macy

Button a key role player as well. She is in street close tonight,
but Carson Paconan is out there still. She scored ten points last time out
here. Also out there will beAnissa Perceival she scored eight points. Haley
Precaution had a really good game onTuesday night, shooting five of eight from
the field thirteen points for her,and then filling in for that Sophia Hatcher

role was Jada Britton, who wentoff on Tuesday night four of eight from
the field, four to six fromdowntown scored a team high in game high
sixteen points on Tuesday now for thedes More North Polar Bear's key note here
was Mariah van Ercevide, the onlyplayer averaging ten plus points on the season

for the Polar Bear. She isnot here tonight, so they will have
to turn to their bench, whichhas been outscored sixteen to three in the
last three games. Last time outwas against four Dodge and they their bench
only scored one point. Have notplayed in over a week for these Polar
Bears, with tuesday game against FortDodge being canceled. Last time out on

the court was a loss to Tomwellforty four to thirty six. They did
make six threes thirty three percent fromthe field, shot six to ten from
the free throw line, but hadtrouble turning the ball over twenty eight turnovers.
Needed a huge night from their starplayer in Mariah, who scored twenty
three points, but other than that, the team struggled offensively. She is

Miller now joined with the girls varsityhead coach Cole Cook. First off coach,

congrats on the sixty three thirteen victorylast night. Yeah that was that
was a lot of fun. Gota lot of girls in, got a
lot of playing time, and someof our girls that don't get to get
a lot of playing times. Thatsaw a lot of success, you know,
Jada Brittain being one of them.Yeah, Jada Britain tore it up

sixteen points. Just how important isit for players like her and others on
the bench to kind of have gameslike that, have opportunities like that,
especially with Sophia Hatcher being out.Yeah, that was awesome. We we
kind of went in with a gameplan that, you know, we're going
to rotate Jada and Meredith a sophomoreas a junior. We're going to rotate

them like we would rotate Sophia andjust see which one fits and and then
kind of go from there. Andat that point it's kind of up to
the kids. You know, it'slike, hey, I you know,
uh, you take the opportunity oror you know, you fall short.
And to be honest, I thinkthey both did a really good job.

Jada offensively, she performed you knowbeautifully. She went four for six from
the three point line, and uh, you know, shots really really well
and was able to defend. So, you know, we're super happy that
those two were able to step inand step up and you know, kind
of give us a little bit ofreprieve from anxiety about whether or not we

were going to be able to stillSophia's role. Ames is now having a
winning record when following a loss.What what has led to that throughout the
season? You know, Uh,the girls resilience I think is first and
foremost. They they do a reallygood job of of owning our mistakes,

learning from them, and then tryingto correct it, you know, and
they do a really good job,like we preach about, you know,
one game at a time, sothey do a really good job of understanding
that, you know, a lossor two in a row doesn't affect the
next game. You know, it'sgood because this week we have three in

a row, say, Thursday,Friday, Saturday, So you know,
if we fall or drop one ortwo this week, we we don't have
an opportunity to pout and psulk aboutit, and they do a really good
job that of not doing that.Yeah, you have today off, but
like you said, play tomorrow throughSaturday. Two of three of those games

are on the road. Is therebenefits to playing these, you know,
string of games back to back nearingpost season? You know, I might
have to ask coach Downs that samequestion. He's got some more experience,

because, to be honest, Ican't find a great thing about it,
just because it's such a big loadmanagement. With three games in a row,
we've gone to games. This isa second week with four games and
then three next week before we finallyget to relax. The only upside I

think I can probably think of isthat we don't have a lot of sitting
around, losing conditioning, losing basketballtime, and it makes practices more fun.
I suppose, you know, it'swe don't have time to to run
a full practice and we don't wantto with the load management, so we
get to have, you know,do our game day prep and we get

to put up lots of shots andit's a little bit more relaxed. So
girls come into practice, you know, with a little bit of a better
attitude knowing they don't have to conditionyou know, yeah, they don't have
to run, right what did thewin last night against Hoover just do from
a confident standpoint for this team,you know, I said this last night

and after the game, we justbet you know when when record wise we
have nine we had eight last year. So the girls, you know,
we could not win another game therest of the year, and I'd be
okay, you know, because itshows progress, you know, coming in

three and nineteen and now and theneight and fifteen and now winning nine games.
I mean, as a coach,you can't complain. You know.
The girls are are showing you thatthey're learning from you. They're showing you
that they can't compete and they wantto compete. So I think that was
the biggest thing was it's like,hey, now there's no pressure, right

Like if there was any at all, you know, if you if you
had any pressure, you know,from anybody outside of the team or even
on yourself about how we needed todo better than last year, it's gone,
you know. So I think that'sa big thing for us. I
noticed last night with all the differentrotations Victoria Williams mostly played in the first

half. Was that by design oris there another injury maybe fans need to
worry about. Yeah, she's uh, she's scaring us a little bit.
She uh, she tweaked her foota little bit in the Norwalk game on
Saturday, But she's you know,been doing been doing some stuff with our

athletic trainers and making sure she's she'sgetting better. And it wasn't anything like
we were super worried about, butwe did, you know, have her
sit out of practice the other day, and so we we came down to,
hey, do you feel comfortable enougha start, and you know,
Victoria's Victoria's so she's she's super,super tough, and she's yep, I'm

good to go, you know.So it was a little bit by design,
but more out of caution, justknowing how many games we have in
a short period of time and weare going to need her. So we
would just okay, let's just backoff a little bit tonight and get through
this one and then reevaluate. ButI don't think we got some good news

today. I don't think we haveanything to worry about. I think she's
good to go, but I dothink, you know, a little bit
of extra rest definitely goes a longway. Victoria is just going to be
Victoria is a great line because froman outsider's point of view, I couldn't
even tell that she had anything wrongwith her. She's still out there diving

for every ball, going for everyrebound. And then when she just sat
out for a while, I waslike, Oh, they must must be
a different design to go into thesecond half. Yeah, you can't come.

side by Quall and it's rebounded byVictoria Williams. So Williams brings it up
the front court, gives it overto Pecona on the right wing. Now

on the court for the little Cyclones. And you need to make sure you

Weinheimer. She kicks it up thefront court, now crosses half court.
Now a tip pass somehow finds Weasleyon the right block. She fakes left
or fakes right, goes left,and that layup is no good. Jada
Britton now in for app McGuire thoughfor the Ames Little Cyclones. After that,

des moin north time out. Here'sthe kick into the free throw line
to Perceival. She bounces it backout to the right wing to Victoria Williams.
She has her first shot blocked,but gets her own rebound and her
reverse left handed layup falls ten.Nothing. Ames Little Cyclones on top in
a turnover there by Weasley trying tofind Weinsheimer on the left corner. So

the front court pressed. We wanta great job for the Ames Little Cyclones.
Precaution set to inbound it on theleft block with three point fifty to
go, Peconan gets it on theright corner, kicks it out to the
top of the key to Precaution.Precaution drives past the right elbum now to

Little Cyclones on top four points.Now for Precaution, here comes out double
team. Precaution gets the steal,but it rolls out of bounds. It
was called trying to kick it backtowards the no the court to Weasley,
and Precaution found that. And nowyou have all five Ames Little Cyclones players
across the half court line step fora full court pressed and Precaution nearly steals

that one away from Weinheimer. Andnow the Ames defense backs up, kicks
it across to the left corner tomal Now back out to the left elbow,
that is Weasley. She kicks itback out to the left corner.
Here comes Nikon. Her shot isup short offensive board though for Weasley.
Good ball movement. Here comes athree from the right wing and it falls

for Arian Salah and the des MoinesNorth Pullar Bears get on the board for
the first time in the first fiveminutes of action. Sofia Deardorf now on
the court for the Ames Little Cyclone, so it's precaution. Conan Deerdorf Britain
and Williams a little bit of asmaller lineup for the Ames Little Cyclones.
Drives into the middle of the laneand raveled. So he turnover there with

the Aimes Little Cyclones two forty sixto go, nine point lead, back
with it with the five defenders hereacross the half court line, trying to
get a quick turnover, bringing itup with the left hand with his cuall.
Now she kicks it back over toWeinheimer who struggles out of bounds.
Good defense there by Victoria Williams.Weinheimer fell to the ground and lost that

on top, twelve to three.They'll get the ball now and he's a
perceival coming in. She comes infor Victoria Williams. Torria Williams with two
points in the first quarter. TheConan now bringing it across the front court

two three zone for the Polar Bears. Who comes Sophia Deardorf. Her layup
is up, no good but wasfouled and that was Natalia deardor if I
apologize, So two free throws nowcoming up for the sophomore on the season,

there by Weasley on the left block. No good we found it by Jada
Britain. Caution, slowing things downup by eleven with a minute eighteen to
go into the first quarter. Here'sa kick by Paconin into the right corner.
Now a kick inside to perceive aher layup up. No good offensive

board though to Jada Britton and nowaims swinging around the arc pacaution Pump fakes
on the left wing, drives inthe middle to paint another block though for
Quall, and here comes the desmoin north Polar Bears nearly turning it over

Weasley going up against Paconan and thatright handed hook shot is up and
good, fourteen to five with thirtyeight seconds to go, about four seconds
separating game clocking, shot clock precautionback out to deardor if at the top
