Speaker 1 (00:00):
Straight from Pakistan to La to Boston and got a

(00:02):
couple of legends on One of them is my good
friend Shaggy.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Shaggy, what's going on, Bross?

Speaker 3 (00:06):
I'm good Sirt. Thank you for giving a time. I
give it us your platform.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Always are you usually coming to the studio.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
You always break into all of our meetings and stuff
like that and jump in.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
But I know you're busy. You guys are running around.
And then we got Sting with you. Sting, what up?

Speaker 4 (00:22):
I'm very happy to be here, see you pop talk.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We haven't met before, right.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
We have not met, which is weird because I DJ
Shaggy's album release party in New York one time when
it was all said and done, He's like, Yo, did
you meet Sting? And I was like, no, I was
working the whole time, so I didn't really get the
chance to meet you.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
But then in the newspaper the next day you were
and I'm DJing, I've got my back to you.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah, But that's a classic picture when Sting is listening
to me DJ at a Shaggy release party, and look
the picture than anything.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
The expression of face, What am I doing?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Look at me? I'm focused?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Focus here you're focused.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Well, it's nice officially meet you, staying obviously a huge
fan for for many, many many years, man, and you
guys are here together again. Man, you guys had a
great project a few years ago forty four eight to
seventy six, and you guys always stay connected through socials.
I always see you guys, always together. But now a
new song till the morning? When are we doing a
whole new project together?

Speaker 2 (01:24):
What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
No, it's not really a full project.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
We have talked about doing a full project, where our
schedule is so busy. So the most you could get
from us right now is one song. Yeah, and we're
having a lot of fun promoting it. You know, you
know a lot about reggae music and the culture of
it because you play a lot of it, Pup. You
were down in Jamaica with me in Raytown, in my
neighborhood that I was born, and so you understand sound

(01:49):
system culture and where it comes from.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And this is a song that celebrates that.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
And this is a rhythm track from old Junje Laws
Yellow Man, I'm getting married rhythm that really celebrates that.
And I'm sure you're familiar with it also, So this
is it is a celebration as good that we did.
We're having a lot of fun. We did a Tonight
show yesterday, we did Mark and Kelly. Before we was
at Miss Lily, which you did not show up for,
but I'm not.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Holding it against you.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
I'd say you were invited, but anyway, you know, and
we're just gonna have it.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
We're here today, We're playing with just sound checked for
you know, Papa.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
It's such a joyful song, and I feel the world
needs some joy at the moment. I mean, there's so
much unhappiness and misery around. People need music that lifts
them up the feel good and this song lifts me
up and makes me smile every time I hear it
or sing it, and I think the world needs it.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yes, No, it definitely needs it.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
And you guys always do that, and in your place
in your in your careers right now, with being go
get Us for so many years, it's great that you
guys can just do music that makes you guys happy.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
And it's always been the case with you guys.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I know that with Shaggy specially, But I feel like
a lot of people are always chasing trends and trying
to make things happen because they're trying to get to
the level that you guys are at. So it must
be a great feeling to always just be able to
do what you guys love genuinely and being able to
put it out for the world like that.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Well, there's a freedom there.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
I think that we have to really just do what
makes us happy and hopeful of the joy that we
get from this. We could spread it to others, you know,
And that's what I really love about that.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, we want the trends to catch up with us.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
We got Shaggy and sting on right now. There are
you guys? What right?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Check? Yeah, So we're gonna have a good vibe tonight tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Look at that always working Shaggy. Okay, who goes harder?
Because I know Shaggy. My whole career is thing. Who
goes harder?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you that you do know me,
and you do know how hard I got.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I have never met anybody that works so hard as
this guy. I mean it's tough.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
We have a competition, him and I.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Who normally comes down. He beat me today, I beat
him yesterday. As far as who got first, I got
to rehearsal before him.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yesterday today he made sure he got to south checked
before me. And then then he's singing, don't make me wait,
like you just made me don't make me wait, you
just made me wait.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
So you're throwing words at me. Why we're doing sound
check and everybody's watching. It's like, yo, what the hell's
going on?

Speaker 5 (04:14):
So it's a it's a lovely friendly competition, but it
also keeps me on my p's and q's and I
love that he does.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
That now Shaggy and saying, both of you guys legends
in the game.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
But yet all this promo, obviously, all the TV stuff
is obviously great. You guys kill it every time the
Jimmy fallon, like the bit before that was there a
lot of practicing before that. But where I'm going to is,
like you see a lot of the new artists not
doing the promo stuff, like not stopping down to do
continuously do this right.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Staying yeah, like are you shocked?

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You guys are where you are and you guys still
stop down to make sure you catch up with me
at three thirty.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
And we're no.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
I don't understand why someone wouldn't do promotion for something
they love and you know, want to support.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
That's the gig. That is the gig.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
You know. I think this generation is a new generation
now because they're spoiled from their phone, from their phones
because you know, back in the day, so I remember
driving around England and drive around the country doing regional
radio and doing you know, all the separate states radiostation
in every city. And these kids now they could just
press a button and that's promotion. So it's a different

(05:17):
it's a different time.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
It's about relationships exactly, yes, you know, you know, maintaining relationships,
getting new relationships.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
So that's what music's about.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And Shaggy's like the king of it because like I said,
I don't know if you guys heard me when we're
breaking up a little bit. But every time he comes
in the building, if there's like a big CEO meeting,
I'm like, you know, he sees the glass and he
just walks right in and makes himself part of me.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Walking to see me.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
It says, Okay, this guy needs to be getting a
raise right now. It's the raised, right who's the boss?
You come on, you gotta up it now, you're the boss.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I do that to you with them.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I love it. I love it well. I know you
guys are running around. Let's introduce the record. Let's get
into the record. We'll come back and finish this off
real quick.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Absolutely, yo, you know what it is right now.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
DJ pup Dog Big Steers Unruled the Nation, Sting Shaggy,
Turn up your radio.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Make sure you if you're in your car.

Speaker 6 (06:14):

the speaker up, turn it up, up, up up, Sting Shaggy,

Speaker 2 (06:24):

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Big sona Batsona, big sona Batsona.

Speaker 7 (06:34):
Sting, Well, my, some play the big tunes, lie to
s flaves up in the street like that, just how
it feels when wagon music play. Heap, move your feet

(07:00):
love the Vicus music is sweet Day.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Singing Shaggy.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
We'd be killing this Speea sing don't.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Right yes until the morning, right there, Shaggy and Sting
legends of course, and Shaggy like like I said, I mean,
I know you're a general, you're a legend, but you've
always been a true friend of mine, and you always
make sure I was good. They actually locked me in
for next year's convention. So they already gave me the
dates for that, all right, so it's gonna be locked in.

(07:43):
And you know, you know, I literally was in Jamaica
last week.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
I go there till you realize from that the residuals
of it, and people were talking about it because the
press was all over.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah, so thank you.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
I'd love to have you, and you have a wealth
of knowledge to share with a lot of these kids.
And by the way I did, and by also, he
tells things that I did call you last week I said,
get on my record there.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
He calls me directly all the time. Two things before
we get out of here.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
You guys have been doing this for obviously, loving it
every minute a long time. Every genre of music can
go to whatever time, but in hip hop there's a
agism stop why are we Why are we stopping it
in hip hop?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I don't I don't know.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
I think that one thing is for sure as you
as you get older in this and if you have
a love for it, you'll find ways to reinvent yourself.
And I think that's what him and I do because
we have you know, Sting genuinely loves music. It's a
genuine love and there's a desire to do it and
still get smiles and bring joy. And if it's really

(08:46):
in you, there's no age just gonna stop you, and
you're gonna find the magic.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
You know.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
James Brown tell me a long time ago that if
you have your songs, you have your talent, you're a
rich man and nobody could take that away from you.
They could take away everything else, but you could do it.
And I think that you be the same for you
unless you have a different opinion.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
No, I totally agree. Yeah, you know, I love it, man.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
And last thing, clash is obviously big in the reggae
Jamaican culture, the hip hop clash that's been happening for
the last six months.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Is that a good thing for hip hop or it
has been bad?

Speaker 5 (09:13):
I think the class is always it's always a good thing.
It's probably not as good for the guy that loses, But.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Losing I think Juror might.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
Still be out. It's two things you are gonna follow.
The trend of who they say lost are some you
know it's different. Uh, you know in that situation. You
know they're both big superstars and they still have their fans,
And I don't think it will hurt them.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
But clashes are clash.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
I just did the big clashes you saw it in
in London. Massive Spice took it and I was a
part of that, was a part of see one game.
We're a part of the whole team. We're helping them
get dubs. We're doing everything. And she we won. Now
we have bragging rights and boys, she bragging and I'm happy.
She's posted me up. She's supposed to sting up.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
She's it is. It's every day. She did a whole
live yesterday playing dub plates. She didn't play. She had
a Neil. She had a Neil, Diamond and Dubble. Can
you believe that? Wow? Sweet Caroline and Dubble. Whoa.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I love it, man, and I'm looking forward to hanging
out with you guys again, staying thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Man.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
It was nice to virtually meet you. But I'm definitely
gonna meet you soon.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
All right later bye,
