For several years now. On MemorialDay weekend, you've probably seen the beautiful
display of hundreds of flags in frontof Hanley High School. You might be
wondering what that's all about. Andless Veach from the Rotary Club of Winchester
is here today to tell us allabout it. Thanks for joining us this
morning, Less glad to be here. Tell us about the Healing Field of
Honor. It started four years agofor our local Rotary club. It's to

honor a hero, a veteran,anybody in your family or somebody you feel
is inspirational to you, and youcan buy a flag to honor them and
you get to keep it, oryou can actually, if you've already got
a flag, buy a tag thisyear and keep that as well. Wonderful.
So when do the flags go up? When did they come down?
They're going up on the opening ceremonyMay twenty third, We're going to have

a large USA flag flying deuce anda half would be there, motorcycles,
pipes and drum Corps Winchester, aflyover by a C seventeen service medal leaves
for each military branch, which getsme pretty emotional when I hear that we
have a keynote speaker and some parachutislanding. Wow. So what time is
that opening ceremony? It starts atthree, The major part of it starts

at six, but come early andwe'll get to all the flags. So
all Memorial Day weekend long you cansee the flags flying at Handley High School.
And when is the closing ceremony?The closing, Laurie, is at
May twenty seventh, at three o'clock. Barry Lee will be there as our
Master of Ceremonies, will have someschool Essay Award winner and our very own

Major Jerry Headley, US Army Retired, and then we'll read some names of
some gold Star families. It isreally a site to see less, absolutely

many incredible things for the community.The money from the flags sold, Where's
that going? We have several beneficiariesthis year, Laurie. It's VFW Post

and Frederick County Sheriff's Office, WinchesterFire and Rescue Foundation, Winchester Sheriff's Foundation.
