Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to community viewpoints and Shawne feeling blessed and highly
favored on this Sunday morning, wanting to strive and thrive
in the community. So wanted to share a message from
someone that I've seen growing in the community, empowering our community.
So today I have Andrea see Scott in the studio
with me. Andrea, how are you this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I'm doing wonderful, Shaani. It's so great to be here.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
How are you, Andrea.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's the end of the year, and I wanted to
bring in one of the sisters that I see just
always doing something. And I think that's the motion when
we go into twenty twenty five. We have to have
action plan and be in action. So Andrew, if you
would talk to us and tell us a little something
about Andrea see Scott.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I am the woman of MANI hats which most of
us are. I'm an entrepreneur at heart. I have been
an entrepreneur full time since nineteen ninety six. I am
a believer, I am a wife. I am an immigrant
from the wonderful island of Jamaica, just like you, and
I love people. I love empowering and enriching women's lives.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Community. Shannie speaking to Angrea C. Scott empowering our community
as an entrepreneur, there is a journey of uncertainty, but
if you believe, as Andrea said, and one of the
things we have to do in the holiday season is
to believe. But if you believe, you can't achieve. So Andrea,
talk to us about how you came to Fruition, because

(01:27):
I know you've had a journey, So tell us or
talk to us about your journey and how you have
empowered women and communities across the globe.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Shani, I truly believe that it was God ordered. I
have had a love for helping women first of all,
for serving the community period and I've always found myself
in those places, whether it was in ministry, whether it
was through my sorority del stigma theyve Sorority incorporated, whether
it was through my entrepreneurial endeavors. I've always all ways

(02:00):
believed that first of all, women are amazing, and two
that whenever God puts a dream in your heart, he
gives you provision and so you got to want it.
And absolutely that belief factor is huge. If there's no belief, honestly,
there's no moving forward. And so part of what I

(02:20):
do in empowering women is to help women to really believe,
and not just myself, but myself and my husband. We
are in partnership together with our company. We also coach.
We help people to bring their dreams to fruition or
whatever they're already working on, to help to scale that.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Between these Shawnee speaking to an entrepreneur a community advocate
in our city around the globe, Andrew, I know you
started off with just helping people look beautiful. Talk to
us about how you transitioned from that piece of your
journey and how you are thriving today.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Thank you for that. Johnny. You know, I like to
start by saying that I knew in my twenties that
I was meant to be an entrepreneur because I didn't
hate work. I just hated going to work, like going
to the same place every single day. It's just how
I'm wired and there's some people that are wired like that.

(03:17):
And in my twenties, I knew that I needed three
types of freedom in whatever career endeavor, whether it was
a nine to five job or an entrepreneurial endeavor, I
knew that I needed three freedoms. One was freedom of time,
freedom of income meaning to be able to create the
amount of money that I wanted, and location of freedom.
I wanted to be able to work wherever I wanted

(03:40):
to work. And so what I found was that the
traditional job market was not fulfilling those three needs. So
I either got bored real fast or I got like, oh,
I love the people, but I hate the job. I
love the job, but I hate to pay, and you
know whatever. And so I was introduced to my very
first entrepreneurial kind of side hustle. People call it right now,
call it you know. We're in a kind of gig

(04:02):
economy where people are doing different things on the side. Well,
I fell in love with a cosmetic line that most
people know, Mary Kay Cosmetics, because my mother was felling
Mary Kay and she introduced me to the product. I
loved the product, and then she talked to me about
earning some extra money. And that's how I got started.
I got started with Mary Kay. It was not ever

(04:24):
on my radar, but most of the things that were
successful at are usually not on our radar. But God
knew that I needed to be in that community of
women for such a time as this. I started when
I was twenty seven years old with my own business
with Mary Kay and I grew it and became the
youngest Black woman to achieved the top position in the
history of Mary Kay. Even today, twenty one years later,

(04:46):
I still hold distinction of being the youngest Black woman
to debut and to become a national sales director, and
so I'm really really proud of that. I learned a
lot of principles of success with Mary Kay Hey and
in twenty twenty, after twenty six and a half years
with the company, I made the decision to retire and

(05:07):
start working building a business with my husband.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Community Shawnee speaking to Andrea C. Scott thriving in the community,
empowering each and every one of us as she speaks
to us about her journey today, I wanted to share
Andrea with you because with every season, we have to
pivot and change. And Andrea has done that and she
has been successful in doing that. Andrea talk to us

(05:32):
about the feeling having been with a company, thriving, being successful,
holding distinction, and then having to pivot to another place.
How would you say the community or anyone listening, how
would you say they should start that journey?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
So I would say, the first thing to start with
is faith. It's faith in yourself. Is very scary to
be in your fifty closer to retirement than you are,
just starting over and then decide to reinvent yourself. So
it's not easy. It's very very scary. So you need

(06:14):
courage and you need a great support system. And I'm
actually feeling real emotional right now for some reason because
I just remember just taking that first step, and so
definitely you want to make sure you've got good people
that are in your space that will encourage you. Because
most people love familiarity, they love safety and security, and

(06:35):
I am all for it. But sometimes while it doesn't
feel safe to take that leap, and as a believer,
I believe that when you leap that God will catch you.
So for me, in taking that leap and leaving behind
everything that I knew, I had a built in fan club,
I had status, I had a great income, and you know,

(06:56):
it was it was easy. But sometimes when God wants
to move you to another place, he kind of makes
you uncomfortable and shakes you out of the nest like
the birds, and you gotta fly. You just gotta fly,
spread a wing and fly and and so shiny. Honestly
for anyone, any woman or man for that matter, But

(07:17):
I know that women are my focus that is looking
to reinvent themselves. Whether it's starting a new career, whether
it's going to get your college degree, whether it is
starting a business. Just know that you can do it.
You are enough. You are absolutely enough, and if you
can dream it, you can achieve it. Have some good

(07:40):
folks get in your corner, because sometimes people, if they're
scared themselves, they'll try to put that beer on you
and say, girl, you're close to retirement, why are you
doing something else? Or girl, you should just stay a
little longer, or are you sure you can do that?
Those type of things. You want to flock those people
out of your ear, your air gates, and your eyes

(08:00):
because they will try to discourage you, and they just
really think that they and so our friends and family,
they really do want to save us, so to speak,
and spare us from pain. But I'm going to tell
you that sometimes the pain of change is greater, has
to be greater than the pain of staying the same.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Mendi Shawnee speaking to Andrea se Scott empowering us this morning.
A lot of people are making changes as we move
into a new year, and retirement is one of them,
or just making a change to pivot to find a
new journey or a new place. And Andrew is here
to help us understand that this journey is all about

(08:43):
believing and having a leap of faith. Andrew, I know
that with what you do today coaching, that there are
principles in life or things that we need to do
to help our vision board. What does your vision board
look like for twenty twenty five?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Okay, so my vision board looks more like experiences with
the people that I love. I stop chasing money because
sometimes you chase money and this collateral damage because people
get hurt and it depends on you know what it

(09:20):
is that you do. So my vision board now looks
like what my husband and I are doing to help people,
to be a blessing to people, sharing ideas. I do
have a new home on my vision board. Let's be clear, Okay,
the buses' money answers all things, but it's not the
primary thing. Because I believe when you serve people that

(09:42):
you will be rewarded for that. So I've got my
new home or my vision board, and I also have
experiences with my mom. I want to be able to
travel and take my mom to places that she's never
been before, and so having those experiences. And now it's
more about the people that I can help. So people
are on my vision board and just peace, just peace.

(10:07):
I think I've kind of settled into God. Whatever you
have for me in this season is the what I want.
The material things are great, but really my vision is
how many people can I help in their endeavors community.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Shaanni speaking to Andreas Scott empowering us this morning on
how we need to envision life and how we need
to move forward, always trying to empower the community with
the messages each and every Sunday. And Andrea has a
life journey that is empowering and she has not stopped.
Just know that Andrea has many hats, as she said,

(10:42):
and with all her hats, she still had time to
talk to me and allow me to introduce her passion
of living. And Andrea, I know that with life there's
punches and bumps and bruises. What would you say going
into twenty twenty five? What would you say would be
a mantra for twenty twenty five?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
My mantra, I'm a whole vibe in twenty twenty five.
And what does that mean? That just came to me
actually a couple of days ago, and it doesn't actually rhyme,
but it is. Everybody has a vibe, and for me,
it is about being my authentic self, being real, being

(11:25):
the person that I was created to be. You know,
I've had a lot of bumps and bruises. I've had
all of the things that a lot of people go through.
I've gone through divorce. I've gone through the loss of
my dad, the loss of my sister, the loss of
my pastor several years ago, but it was all gone
through health issues and just having all of those things,

(11:47):
and a lot of people are still mourning and burying
family members that will never see twenty twenty five. I've
had my share of phone calls and so really, I
want to come alive. I want to but I want
to vibe. I want to be a whole vibe in
twenty twenty five where people see me and look, what
you see is what you get. What you see is

(12:08):
what you get. So I'm running. I'm running for it.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
And when you say health issues, I know that health
is one of the things that we need to talk about,
but we'll also need to address right walking and talking
or just what do you do to keep your body
healthy so that your mind stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Oh, I'm so glad you asked that, Shani. So one
of the things that my husband we've been we got
married in twenty sixteen and so we're closing our eighth year,
going into our ninth year. One of the things that
we promise each other was that we would take our
health and wellness seriously. We want to be the healthiest
that we can be so we can live longer, stronger together.

(12:50):
And so we work out. Matter of fact, my husband's
at the gym right now. I'm getting ready to go
to an event. So but usually we'll walk well, we'll
lift at the gym. I'm about to take a karate
class I'm excited, or a self defense class. I can't
depending on which one, you know is making me feel like, hey,

(13:10):
you know right now, it's like it's between those two.
But also eat, changing the way we eat. Matter of fact,
my husband and I we change the way that we shop.
We shop more wellness. We have an online wellness business.
We're wellness advocates, and so we take care of ourselves.
We take our vitamins. We definitely watch all of the

(13:33):
sugar and all of those things. My dad was diabetic,
my mom is a cancer survivor, and so health and
wellness absolutely is at the front of our minds. So
definitely move your body, even if it's thirty minutes a day.
It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but thirty minutes
a day, it's just go walking or gardening, or you know,

(13:54):
skip rope and you're in your houses you have to
jump rope. But anything like that is is being proactive
to maintaining your health, get your screenings and all of
those type of things.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
So thank you so much, Andrea Scott for joining us
on community you voyts today, empowering us understanding that as
we move through life, life will throw us many curves,
but if we believe and have a leap of faith,
we can achieve whatever we put our minds to. Thank
you so much for that message today, Andrea, anything else

(14:27):
that you'd like to share with us?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Oh wow. The only thing I will say, Shannie, is
if there is a woman out there that is struggling,
you know that you're meant for more, you know you've
got this giant inside, but you just can't seem to
get her to come out.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
You're a lioness.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
You've got it going on, but to get it going
out is what you want. And if you need help,
feel free to contact me. I believe in you.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Andrea. How can a woman who would need this empowerment
get in contact with you?

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Can contact me. My email is Andrea NSD like Nancy
Sally David. So my first name Andrea then NSD at
Comcast dot net. Or you can look me up on
my social media Facebook Andrea c Scott and Instagram b
Andrea c Scott. So just message me or email me

(15:21):
and I will be more than happy to share and
to be a blessing.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
And as we continue with community viewpoints to Shawnnie feeling
blessed and highly favorite on this Sunday morning, we are
empowering our community and paving the way to people opening
their minds to helping the community.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Today, I have.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Jennifer still on the line. She is here to talk
to us about pen Can Purple Light event. Jennifer, how
are you?

Speaker 5 (15:46):
I'm good. Thanks for having me, Jennifer.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Before we get into the event and how the community
can get involved, tell us a little something about yourself.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
I was born and raised in Jacksonville from Facts and
actually a triplet, so two girls and a boy. I
graduated from unf with a degree in biomedical science and
I just like helping people, and so I also got
involved in charity work.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Going to the holiday season volunteering. Charity work helps us
get out and possibly empower a people. So today I
have Jennifer here community to talk to us about the
pan Can Purple Light Event. And as you know, with
pancreatic cancer, the month of November is the awareness month
for this actual disease. So, Jennifer, if you would talk

(16:33):
to us about your involvement with pan CAN Purple Light Event.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
I became the Survivor Chaargiver Chair with the pan CAN
Jacksonville Affiliate about three years ago, so this upcoming November
will be our third year having this event. We essentially
get the community together paint a sea of purple to
show support for all those who have fought pancreatic cancer
and honor those loved ones who have passed.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
And Jennifer, is this personal to you as someone in
your family or dear to you pass from pancreatic cancer.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
Yeah, my dad as well as my Mimi on his side,
and then my grandpa on my mom's side, and then
one of my other family members. We used to call
her Fuzzy Grandma. So it's been a lot of people
I've known and we've been personally affected by this, and
we are just trying to raise awareness and honor those

(17:26):
that we've lost during this event.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
I know that sometimes with a disease as a cancer,
we often think about the person going through the disease,
but we don't often think about the caregivers going through
the disease with that person. Talk to us how the
community can get involved, to empower families and just build
resources so that we can all help everyone that is

(17:49):
affected by pancreatic cancer.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
The good thing about the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is
they have a lot of resource, So you can find
their website at pancan dot com. It'll show you all
the resources you have available nationwide. We have patient support services,
early detection initiatives, and then more locally, you can find

(18:12):
our Facebook page. If you search Jacksonville PANCAN or even
just purple Light on Facebook, you'll be able to find
those in your local community here in Jacksonville that have
also been affected by this disease or caregivers and they'd
be able to point you into the direction of support
and more information.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Indie Shawnee speaking to Jennifer Stal. She is here from
pan Can Purple Light event shining a light on pancreatic cancer.
We're in the month of November. We need to check
on our parents, we need to check on family and friends.
And Jennifer, I have a Masonic brother. I believe there's
a team Laura and he also walks for his wife

(18:51):
who he recently lost. So how can the community get
involved with just helping, you know, donating, volunteering, How can
we get involved with keeping the purple light on for
pancm Purple Light event.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
The support of the community is really special. So we're
having our Purple Light event at the Seawalk Pavilion November sixteenth,
five point thirty. We're hoping to get a lot of
people there showing their support for those loved ones and caregivers.
We'll have information there about our Purple Stride event that

(19:26):
is our main fundraising walk the end of April. You'll
have a lot of resources there where you can find
links to our Facebook as well as the national website
where you can donate and even create a team for
the upcoming walk in April.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Thank you, Jennifer. Now, I know that with any cancer,
early detection is the key, and you noted that you
will have resources. How can someone who is fighting pancreatic cancer?
What are the steps for early detection?

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Still very net This is one of the things that's
difficult with this specific disease is we don't catch it
early enough, and that's what makes it so aggressive. So
if you go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Networks website,
you can be contacted by a patient services member and
they'll be able to lay out all of the options

(20:17):
that are available to you as well as any loved
ones and kind of go over any clinical trials or
genetic testing that may be able to be done. I
believe currently they're doing early detection trials specifically for those
who have signs of pre diabetes.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
And so that is a detection that you can just
horn in on to say, let me get tested and
see what else is in my system, do I understand correctly.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
There is also a ten question form on the website
as well, where you'll be able to detect if you
are at an elevated risk for pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer,
and then if you are, you can be put into
car contact with other resources to take those next steps
into genetic testing, early detection trials, blood tests, all of that.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Jennifer, I understand that this is near and dear to
your heart due to you know, a father, a mem
and many family members. What would you like to say
to the community to empower or encourage them to get
involved with a foundation that helps you get through losing
a loved one.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
You never really truly know what someone is going through,
and especially with a disease like this, you want to
spend as much time as you can making memories with
those loved ones and not being burdened by financial responsibilities
and medications. So if you can just lean on one another, bread, hope,
and support anyone going through this in your community, that

(21:50):
would be a great help.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
And of course we're purple.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Yeah, purple is the color, and.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Just explain why purple is the color for pen can
purple life event? Why is it so symbolic for you?

Speaker 5 (22:02):
There are many different ribbon colors associated with various diseases
as well as cancer, and so a royal purple is
the ribbon for pancreatic cancer and the event. We want
to bring the community together and just create a sea
of purple to show our support for the caregivers and

(22:22):
honor those we've lost.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Thank you so much for your due diligence and us
getting together and talking about this event. I also understand
there's a lot of people that start foundations or start
drives or get involved as a volunteer due to loved
ones passing on. This is the season to get involved.
This is a season to get out of the house

(22:44):
and not mourn, but help, wouldn't you say, Jennifer.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
Yes, definitely, And if anybody you would want to register
as an attendee or even to volunteer, you'd be able
to go to our Facebook page once again, you just
find Jacksonville pan Caan or even search the Purple Light
event and you'll be able to find that registration link
in order to volunteer or attend.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Thank you so much for taking time. I appreciate the
light that you are in this community and the light
that you're shining on the pan Can Purple Light Event.
Understanding is very near and dear to your heart. Jennifer,
just make strives to be one of three that is
shedding a light for your family.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
Yeah, thank you so much for having.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Me empowering and engaging in communities. As we continue with
Community Viewpoints to Shawnnie, feeling blessed and highly favored on
this Sunday morning, we are empowering our community on just
living a better life. Today. I have on the phone
Doctor Fitness, and he's here to talk to us about
what we need to do to keep our holiday spirits

(23:53):
up but also to keep our bodies in full form. Doc,
how are.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
You today, SHAWNI I am doing fantastic. Thank you so
much for inviting me to be here on Community Viewpoint. Doc.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
You know, when we did Sister Strut, I wanted to
bring you in to do a post interview just for
us to talk about exercising and the phenomenal things that
our body will do once we exercise and eat right.
So if you would just tell the community a little
bit about yourself, what you've been doing, and then we'll
get to what adventures you have for the community moving forward.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Recap on Sister Strut. Sister Strut is one of the
best events that I get to participate in each year.
There's nothing more important in my opinion than helping women
of color deal with breast cancer and bringing awareness to
such a huge issue. The challenge has been women of

(24:51):
color tend to have to face more aggressive forms of
breast cancer, so awareness is incredibly important and doing Strut
and bringing that awareness to people that may not have
any other opportunity to get that information. It's really what
we do and I love it, and I'm excited that
we do it each year and really proud to be

(25:12):
able to participate in it for the last nine years.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Community Shawnie speaking to Doctor Fitness. One of the things
I enjoy with Sister Strutt is us exercising, getting warmed
up and moving our body. Thank you for always doing
your due diligence and being there for us to help
us exercise. If you would just tell us a little
bit about what you do in real life. I know
that we are all working multiple jobs, but you do

(25:39):
a lot, including being on the radio, So talk to
us about what you do in the community.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
So I have several jobs in the community, but the
core of all the work that I do really has
to do with wellness. My primary job is I'm a
wellness coach. I've been a personal trainer. Providing information that
supports people with exercise and neutral has been a passion
of mine as long as I can remember. Now I've

(26:04):
been a wellness coach for now easily over twenty five years,
so it's a passion of mine. I love it, and
I've had the privilege of doing that with a lot
of different organizations, with gyms in the past, with wellness centers,
doctors' offices, and so I do what I do for

(26:26):
companies and businesses that need wellness coaches, and I love it.
And what I enjoy about it is the look on
people's faith when they realize that they just accomplished something
that they had no idea that they would be able
to accomplish. And when it comes to exercise, it's like, Okay,
we've walked three miles and they're like, oh my god,

(26:49):
I never in a million years thought I'd be able
to walk three miles. Or they've done a challenge with
me and at the end of the challenge they're like
totally blown away that they've been able to do it.
And sometimes when they can't do it, it's just as
wonderful as they can and you're probably going, well, how
is that the case well through November. For example, we

(27:12):
are currently doing a city wide Eat Green Challenge and
the purpose of the challenge is to increase the amount
of green vegetables that we're all eating. And what makes
the challenge difficult is each meal that you have, you
need to have vegetables with the meal. So that includes breakfast.

(27:33):
So every breakfast, every lunch, every dinner, and even every
snack that you have for the entire month of November,
you need to have vegetables with it.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Community Shawnie speaking to doctor Fitness talking about what we
need to do to balance this last quarter of twenty
twenty four, and one of the things is eating, Doctor Fitness,
I know that exercising also goes with eating, So talk
to us about last quarter while we're going to get
back to the you know, the Eat Green challenge, exercising.

(28:07):
What are some of the things that we could do
as a community if we can't get to the gym
or we can't get a full fledged workout, what can
we do to keep ourselves moving through the holidays and
say true to enjoying ourselves, but keeping ourselves fit.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
And that's a great question. The way I answer that
question all the time because I get asked that question
quite often. You know, what should we do? What can
we be doing? How can we make sure that we
get the exercise that we need? And what exercise should
I do? And the way I answer it is the
exercise that you should do is the exercise that you

(28:46):
will do okay, So it's not whether you should or how,
it's the one that you're going to do. If there's
an exercise that you just will not do well, it's
not going to be helpful at all. So start doing
things that you already believe that you can do and
build from there. For example, if you really would like
to run a marathon, well the first thing you want

(29:08):
to do is start walking. So do things in intervals,
break things off in small ways to help you. And
some people go, I can't, I don't have an hour.
You don't need an hour necessarily to work out. Start
with ten minutes, or spend more time standing. A lot
of us will sit for eight hours. Make sure that
within that eight hours for you, that you get up

(29:31):
and you walk around two or three times per hour,
doing it incrementally like this is going to help you
to get the results, keep you fired up about moving
and get your body, really excited about continuing to move
and looking for other ways that you can challenge yourself.
I recently opened up a studio called Age Well Fitness.

(29:54):
We're always giving amazing information to people here at iHeart
month to month. So if you want to listen, listen
on ninety three point three The Beat or V one
oh one point five track down Doctor Fitness. I have
a blog on both and you'll be able to get
tips and information to help you to move better, feel better,

(30:16):
lose belly fat, and great ideas for exercise as well
as foods that you can be eating. You can become
a part of that challenge super easy for this month,
for example. To be a part of the challenge, all
you need to do is text your name your email
in the words eat green the nine oh four two

(30:38):
three six fifty eight fifty eight. That's nine oh four
two three six fifty eight fifty eight and it's a
free challenge. Anybody in the city or in the community
can be a part of it. And what you get
when you text that information is you get tips, you
get recipes, you get encouragement, and you get ideas to

(30:59):
help you to be successful with the challenge and the
really cool thing about the challenge. Let's say you don't
eat green for a day while you realize, oh my god,
I'm going to have my pancakes and I'm not having
anything greed. Messing up is a great learning experience. It's
not a failure. But what happens is embrace the challenge.

(31:19):
Embrace things that are difficult for you to do. Embrace
the failures and use them as learning experiences. If that's
something that you're looking to do, these challenges would be
amazing and I really wholeheartedly invite you to text your
name your email in the words eat green to nine

(31:39):
oh four two three six fifty eight fifty eight. That's
nine oh four two three six fifty eight fifty eight
to participate in a free challenge to help you to
eat more vegetables, to feel better and prove your health,
lose belly fat, and just have more energy to get
you through the holidays.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Commandy Shanni speaking to doctor Fitness on this Sunday. We
are helping a community to get ready to think about
eating right, exercising, but enjoying the holidays, Doctor Fitness. I
know that with us being post COVID and a lot
of people work from home or sit eight hours of
the day. You said that you know we should get

(32:19):
up two to three times an hour. What are some
exercises or do you have some regiments that the community
can get involved in so that you know you can
wake up the muscles ensure that with sitting all day.
What is it that we need to do. Do we
need to stretch more? What mindset do we need when
sitting for a long period of time?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
You really hit it. You lasered right in on flexibility
and stretching. Stretching is an integral part of what we
need to do because if we don't do it when
we're younger, when we get older. Let's see expression of
the elders used to use, you get all stove up
to another way of saying, you just get really stiff
and you have lots of as great thing about stretching

(33:03):
is it reduces that stiffness, It reduces pains, It helps
to avoid muscle imbalances. So these are the things that
you really want to do. And if you're not sure
and you need a little more help with something like this,
I would recommend scheduling an appointment and I'd be happy
to help you to get started. Knowing what to do

(33:24):
and what's best for you, because not everything is good
for everybody. Our bodies are different, so keep that in
mind as you move towards any kind of wellness idea.
Keep in mind that you may have an injury that
makes it unsafe for you to do certain things. Okay,
if you have knee challenges, you might want to be

(33:46):
really careful about walking a lot or how you're walking.
So this is another opportunity that having a wellness code
can really help you to avoid exacerbating pre existing injury.
Our traditional doors are not there to help us with
those kind of day to day things. We have to
really be proactive.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
You know.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
There's some amazing chiropractors like doctor McGowan. So it comes
to finding the right people to help. So I invite
you to text me or call me at nine oh
four two three six fifty eight fifty eight if you're
interested in a consult, just a little help to get
you started so that you can feel great, not gain

(34:28):
that weight that most people gain during the holidays. A
lot of people don't know this. From October to thirty
first Halloween until New Year's the average American puts on
between twelve and twenty two pounds that they never lose,
and that's just during that small window. Try some of
the challenges that we do each month and just have fun.

(34:51):
And I think one way to help you to be
a lot more healthy is to like move into a
mindset where it's fun, your challenge yourself, you're having a
good time, and you're doing it with the community of
people who are there to support you and to enjoy
the process with you. And it does make a really

(35:12):
big difference. Get your community and your friends involved and
I can send you all the information that you need
to be a part of this community to create a healthy,
slimmer Wasteline, Douval County.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Community Shawnie speaking to Doctor Fitness Now Doctor Fitness, I
know you're helping us get through the holidays. What are
some things that we need to project into resolutions if
you will for the twenty twenty five I know that
you are working on a big project. Would you like
to share that at this time.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
I'm really excited about the project that I'm working on.
I'm opening a new wellness center on Bay Meadows Road.
For the last ten years, I've really focused a lot
on helping a younger demographic. But I've been realizing, well
probably in the last five year years, that our older
demo is not getting the wellness support that they need.

(36:05):
And so this wellness center is for people fifty and over.
So if you have a family member that's fifty and
over and you see that they're spending a little bit
too much time on the couch watching TV. I'm having
an open house for my new wellness center on November
twenty third, between eleven and two. I want to invite

(36:28):
you to come and be there, and if you want
more information, I will put it on my v one
oh one point five website. So you go to v
one oh one point five dot com keyword doctor Fitness,
and you'll be able to get the information for the
grand opening. And if for some reason you have a

(36:50):
hard time with your computer, feel free to just touch

fifty eight and text me. The word EMS EMS means
electrical muscular stimulation and it's a way that you can

the open house, and all you need to do is
go to V one oh one point five dot com
keyword doctor Fitness and you'll be able to find all
the information there and or if you have a hard
time with computers like some of us do, just feel
