Speaker 1 (00:00):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey.
It's Thursday. Good morning. Hi are you Cory.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I like to call it Friday A show show I
Last night I watched Tombstone starring Val Kilmer. Yeah, in
a very young Kurt Russell, such Jam Elliott, Bill Paxton.
That movie crushes And then I found myself weeping.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Oh yeah, Val Kilmer, if you didn't hear passed away
over the weekend, and.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
He passes away in that movie. Sorry spoiler Oh that's right.
Oh god, yeah, no, wonder you and Bill Paxson's dead too,
so spoiler alert. Sorry. It was a weird night because
it's like I said, hey, let's watch a Val Kilmer movie,
and I threw out a couple just like, no, my husband, Yeah,
(00:51):
we're watching Tombstone.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Do you just want to see me cry?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I threw it down. Yes, I need to. I thought
about it last night. I did it. I just ran
out of time. I may have to do that tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Don't do it.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Big day at our house. We have parent teacher conferences today.
That's anybody else. Yeah, it's going on today and it's
my wife sent me the schedule and it's literally back
to back to back, and then there's a two hour
break and then we have another we have another one.
So why do you have so many?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Will me with all the teachers?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Apparently, yes, yes we do. And you know what, it's
my joy and it really is a privilege to be
able to get out of work and go do that,
you know what I mean. I feel good about that.
So but it's the fact that there are three back
to back to back and then we take a two
hour fifteen minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I would rather just like power through than take a
two hour break.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, there's nothing. It's it's because we couldn't get the appointment.
It's like the appointments got stopped up, you know what
I mean. It's it's really hard for me not to
be that dad that's like, all right, well that's cool,
but why didn't she get an a again? It's really
I have to hold myself back. Don't do that to
the teacher, I know, And I have to hold myself
back and go that sounds great, this is great, you're great,
(02:08):
she's doing great, this is great, and then you smile
unless there's an actual issue. But for the most part,
my daughters is pretty dope, so this should be pretty breezy. Yeah,
unless there's something that I don't know about. Who knows anyway,
I doubt it. Six h one more outside Lands tickets
this morning. Three day general admission passes at eight oh five.
Coming up next. Are you an introvert? Are you an extrovert?
(02:32):
I've been struggling with this for years because I was
convinced I was neither, And all of a sudden, they're
saying you can be an intro extrovert. I believe that
vice versa. Yeah, we'll talk about it. Coming up at
six twenty. Hang righty. From the two thousands, the nineties,
at today, it's Star one on one three, It's Marcus
and Corey. It's Thursday morning. I have good news. Yeah,
I finally feel validated. Corey, Okay, I feel seen. I
(02:54):
saw this article how to tell if you are an
introvert extrovert Combo. I didn't even know that existed, and
I was trying to figure myself out if I was
an introvert or an extrovert.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Now I identify with this very much.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So on the surface, people would say, oh, Marcus, you're
an extrovert.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You are an expert, but I know I'm not.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
You are.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I'm not a true extrovert. Yes you are, no cec.
Here are signs of being an extrovert. Being bored when
you're by yourself. That's not me. Tend to act first
before thinking. That's not really me either. Extroverts like social gatherings.
I don't know that I do. I like social gatherings
with the right people. But have you ever gone to
a party and you like the people that you know
(03:34):
and you instantly dislike and don't want to talk to
anybody you don't know?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, but you go karaoke by yourself, you have no
but I know.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
All those people.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It's going to be there every time.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's the same. Anybody who does karaoke knows.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
You commit yourself to so many different things.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
You're not listening to me. I don't feel seen anymore.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'm sorry. I'm trying to listen. But I watch you
in real.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Time, and then I'm not an introvert necessarily in its
truest sense, because inter says right here, you chattered nervously,
you build your life around avoidance, You're prone to overthinking,
and I'm none of those things.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
I do overthink. I will definitely take that one. But
I like this list of saying the combo of being
an introvert and an extrovert at the same time. You
welcome canceled plans, I do wholeheartedly.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I absolutely do as well, because I know I over
commit myself, and so sometimes you just like, thank God.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
You like to socialize, but you're selective and the kinds
of events you'll attend that's me. Karaoke only you gravitate
towards deeper conversations, that's me. You need time to recharge
after social engagements. That's my god. I've already like, anytime
I have a vacation, I need at least two days
afterwards by myself. You have deep relationships and not a
bunch of surface level friends.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Let's me check.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
And finally, it's like trying to steal this from men. Finally,
only you.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
You've probably been mistaken for an extrovert a few times.
I've been mistaken for an extrovert a few times, just
in the last five minutes. Corey Foley, you are an extrovert. No,
but you combo right.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
You can bumb both, but you have to admit that
you're both indicated thank you. You sat in the middle
of a packed bar during soccer season and made a
comment that made everybody's head turn around to look at you.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I almost got my butt kicks, Yes, you did. During
the World Cup, we swear were we were at local tap
uh huh. And then Lionel Messi was on goal for Argentina.
He didn't do anything, and then I said, oh my god,
something almost happened.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
You almost got your butt case.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
The entire bar turned around and looked.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
At you with just mean, mean eyes.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
All right, So my extrovert came up because it says
you acted before thinking. All right in that moment I did.
That's one. You get one. Anyway, where are you on
this spectrum? Let us know if you go to the
iHeartRadio op stream Star one one three, leave us a talkback,
love to hear your thoughts. Star one O one three.
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one O one three. It's Marcus and Corey
(05:56):
six thirty two. Good morning, Hi. An interesting headline, how
to build a closer connection with your kids. Now, what
was interesting to us was and Corey made this point,
these tips aren't just for parents and kids. Yes, for
interpersonal relationships in general, So don't even if you don't
have kids. These are good practices.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Just for friends or family.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Uh huh. Number one become a fan. And that's that
is easy and difficult at the same time, because.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Their example is if your eyes glaze over when your
kids rattling on about video games or dinosaurs or Olivia Rodrigo,
it happens. But you know what, that happens in adult
relationships too. I mean, we had a guy who were
friends with huh, who talked about movies. Oh God, And
I love talking about movies, but even I get to
(06:44):
a point where I'm like, it's been forty five minutes.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
You guys. We would be chatting with him, and then
he and Corey would vibe on movies and my eyes
would start glazing over. And then they would get really
specific and just start talking Marvel Universe only, and I
would want to die.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
But at the same time, I know, oh, he enjoys
that very much. Sure, and so I just dive all
the way.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Sure. And I and with this becoming a fan, with
the stuff that my child is into, I can be
really good at it and really terrible at it. I'll
give you two examples. A. We're blessed that we're in
this job. So when I go home and my daughter
wants to talk about the latest Olivia Rodrigo release, or
when is Gracie Abrams going on to her, I'm all
about it. Yeah, I'm singing along. I was singing along
to Olivia Rodrigo song so hard yesterday in the living
(07:28):
room that she turned it. She changed the song. Yeah,
She's like, Dad, don't don't do that.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Don't do that.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
You're being weird. Don't do that.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Please, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
On the other side of the spectrum, there are some
TV shows that she watches that are fantastic, you know.
We she used to watch Bluey Tumble Leaf on Amazon fantastic.
And then there are others that will make your eyes bleed.
And I don't want to name names, but does anybody
else watch The Thundermans. It's the most terrible show I've
ever seen, and the acting is bad, the plots are bad.
(07:58):
But if she likes it, and my wife took me
aside one time because I had this really bad habit,
we would be sitting there watching this show and I
would be I'd have an earbudd in and watching my
own show on my phone at the same time. And
my wife was like, look, I know you don't like
it because you think I like to watch these things. No,
but it allows us to bond, yeah, with the little
(08:18):
moments in the show.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
My husband doesn't get that because there's things I want
to watch and I want to watch it with him.
And he's like why because I'm like, I like laughing
with you.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Right, So I know some of these shows will make
your eyes bleed, but you gotta power through. So becoming
a fan is one thing you can do.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Rephrase your questions.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Right, instead of saying, how was school today? And she
said to me the other day, Daddy, you know my
answer will always be fine.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
That's why you got to get specific, so it's not
one word answers, Well, it was your favorite part of
school today? What was the funniest thing that happened to
you today?
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Give me a rating one to ten? How to go?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
I mean, that's that's great. And again, you can use
these with anyone you have a relationship with.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, this isn't even parent kids specific. I'm a couple.
These two together, own your mistakes and parent yourself and
what that means is look, as parents and as people,
we aren't always perfect. If you lose your temper, make
sure you tell your child, hey, I'm sorry, I got
really frustrated. I should not have reacted that way. And
then work on yourself to be a better version of yourself.
(09:20):
You're two point zero if you will.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
And what's funny is when you get older and you're
an adult and you think about when you're a kid
and some of the things your parents did, you're like, no,
there is no perfect parent. There is no perfect parenting book. No,
you know, I look back and laugh at some scenarios.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
And we're lucky, you know, because we have access to
way more resources than our parents did. Yes, you know
what I mean. Let your child be emotional. I mean,
let your friend be emotional. Let you know what I mean,
Let your partner be emotional. Again, this doesn't have to
be just kids and parents. But feelings can be uncomfortable.
But if they're experiencing them, let them be present, Sit
(09:56):
with them in their sadness, their frustration, their joy, whatever.
Give them space to feel their feelings.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
I'm that annoying friend slash coworker where if you ask
me how I'm doing. I'm actually going to tell you.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Oh, she's gonna tak me too, though I've turned into
that person.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I mean, you really want to know or you just
make him polite conversation because I'll tell.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
You the coffee's almost ready. You got to wrap this
up and then finally try new things. Yeah, this is
just good for everybody. Yeah, easy one, totally.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
This is what I'm talking about is what's trending on Star,
what's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day,
and everything people are talking about today.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
In the bank, I'm enjoying the people calling for the
trivia game right now. You are even earlier, way too early.
I appreciate the product activity.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Product activity, productive mind excited for outside land. Yeah minutes, Yeah,
man as a US band. On TikTok looms, Amazon has
submitted a last minute bid to buy the popular video
sharing platform. Their offer was too the current administration. This
impending ban, set to take effect Saturday, stems from national
(11:06):
security concerns over TikTok's Chinese ownership by Byte Dance. Other
interested parties include Oracle, Blackstone and other investment groups, and
the price tag Right now, the offer is forty seven
point five billion dollars Perplexity AI is also proposed rebuilding
TikTok's algorithm domestically to meet US privacy standards. TikTok's not
(11:29):
going away.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
No, they're not going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Fox has taken the suspense out of the rest of
this decade. I'm very excited.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Tell Us.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
The network announced yesterday it is renewing four animated series
for four seasons each, and this includes The Simpsons, American Dad,
Family Guy, and Labsburgers.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Of course favorite show.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
It's kind of just like my happy place, your mental floss. Yes,
it is my mental floss totally. A McDonald's is helping
to celebrate tomorrow's release of a Minecraft movie. They're rolling
out Minecraft Happy Meals and they have got toys. They'll
have twelve different Blockhead collectibles. There's in game skins and
other perks, and if you get the McNuggets, you'll get
(12:14):
the Nether Flame sauce to dip them in. And I
did a little deep dive on the nether Flame because
I don't know what that is. It's a limited edition
dipping sauce inspired by the game's fiery underground dimension and
it tastes like crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced
with hints of garlic and sweetness.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
It's the name Nether sauce. That's choice because I'm ten
years old.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
You are a ten year old boy. It is a
they chose poorly when it came to name sauce, called
it like flaming sauce or fiery sauce.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Uh where to begin? Ooh ooh. Our company has merged
with one of my favorite TV game shows, Toy. So
next week is iHeartRadio Week on Wheel of Fortune, which
we adorn playing at our house and we love the
game and everything but art. But my family is so competitive.
Oh yeah, so competitive. My wife's really good at it.
So how do we know it's iHeartRadio Week. The studio
(13:12):
itself is going to be trecked out with the iHeart
logo and in addition to regular prizes in cash, contestant's
going to be able to win special iHeart prizes, vacations
to like the iHeart Radio Music Festival, the iHeart Country
Music Festival, the iHeart Radio jingle Ball.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
And you know that connection because Ryan Seacrest works for
correct I Heart.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
He does afternoons on this very radio station, Star one,
one three, and he is the host. Yes, they will
have trips to the iHeart Radio Music Awards and then
on Friday of next week, we will have yet to
be announced musical guest artists who are going to play
along the side the contestants. Oh that's awesome as only
iHeartRadio can. So makes awesome. Make sure you're tuned in
(13:52):
next week. Shout out to our guy Seacrest, my best friend.
I know that guy, Hm, I do It's National Burrito
Day today.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I'm here for it.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
And currently they released the list of the best food
cities in America. No surprise, San Francisco was at the top.
They specifically cited the burritos at Ilfarilito and how do
you feel about that? I'm good with it because they're awesome.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I know that Taka gets all the headlines, but El
far Alito is not to be messed with. Okay, they
are not to be trifled with. They do good work
over there. Where is your favorite burrito in the bay?
Let us know on the Marcus A. Corey Facebook page
right now, National find a Rainbow Day today National.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
I'm not even sure how to do that.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
This is so dumb. National don't go to work unless
it's fun day? Is that why you showed up today,
Corey Foley? Because it's such a good time in here.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
I have fun every day.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
So do I. It's so nice to see you.
Speaker 2 (14:43):

what what?
Speaker 5 (14:47):

They might be having a good time.
Speaker 2 (14:48):

Speaker 2 (15:23):
It's our dating segment. We want to help you get
a second date because you went on the first one
and you thought everything was fine, but now you're not
getting a second date.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
It's just sound familiar, Leilani, she's our Oh yeah, our
person this morning. She's like, oh yeah, yeh check check check.
Talk about your date. Tell us about Grayson.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
He was great.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
We met on hims and I thought we had a
really good time.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
We both have dogs, neither of us want kids, and
that was a huge bonus. And his picks were just
like spot on, like when I tell you there was
no fishing at all, Like gorgeous smile. He had on
the like all this long hair, but he had it
up in a man but to the date, which was hot,
and he looked like he worked.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Out too nice?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Did you check geez.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Out of time?
Speaker 4 (16:14):
So we like we went to lunch at this Mexican
spot in Berlin, game and like I had a couple
of Margarita's just to get to know him a little
bit better and loosen up some and kind of, you know,
squashed my nerves. But then since the date, like he's
turned into emoji guy on text and I'm not getting
(16:34):
any actual words or responses and I don't know what's
going on.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
So that's all you're getting is emotion, nothing to work.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
With, Like single word responses.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
What's that word we learned not too long ago, bread crumbing?
Like he's still there, but he's not there.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, well here's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Grayson is turned into the has turned into the emoji
guy because he technically isn't doing the texting. The guy
holding Precious the poodle is.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Wait, what is this like a wreck at Ralph scenario
where he's in the game.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
This is a movie reference?
Speaker 1 (17:07):
What in the world movie was this?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
It puts the lotion on its skin or else it
gets the hose again.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Oh my god, I can't keep up.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I know you can't.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
What movie is it?
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Sounds of the Lambs? Dude, you kind of ruin it.
When I have to explain.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
It, I can't. Ley Leilani, I'm sorry. I don't know
what just happened. We're gonna move forward. She doesn't even
know how to take you.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
No one does.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Listen. Oh my god, We're gonna call Grayson and see
what's up, Leilani. I'd love to get you a second date,
but it's at least let's get some answers, all right,
Hang on for a song. We're gonna call him after this. Okay.
It's it's Second Date Update Star one on one three
right from the two thousands, the nineties, and to date.
It's Star one O one three, Marcus and Corey doing
(17:53):
Second Date Update. We've got Leilani on the phone. Did
some Mexican food with a guy by the name of Grayson,
who was apparently built like a brick house, but also
good times. Neither one of them want kids. This should
work out. So Leilani was saying, Mexican food, right, and
everything was cool, Okay, had a good time.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
I just want to know what's going on while I'm
getting these emoji.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
I was gonna say, he's turned into emoji guy. So
let's call him and try to figure this out. Go
ahead and mute your phone. Here we go. Hello, let
me speak with Grayson.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Please. Hi, Grayson, It's Marcus and Corey from Star win
O one three.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
My guy, did you just wake up?
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
We do a morning show here in the Bay Area
and we do Second Date Update, which is a dating segment,
and we would like to talk to you on the
air if that's okay.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Yeah, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
We wanted to ask you about a date you've been
on recently. Uh, lady called and said that she had
a good time and that, but she's feeling ghosted. Do
you mind talking about your date with Leilani? She'd love
to go out again. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Party girl, party girl, yeah, party girl.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Yeah no, nice girl. Just uh yeah, I couldn't hold
it together. And you know, we went out for some
some tacos and stuff and uh, don't too many marguerite
it Well.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
What do you mean she didn't hold it together? I don't.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Yeah, there we go. Yeah, you know, it was. It
was one of those situations maybe two drinks ten to three.
I mean, I can hold it together, don't get me wrong,
but I just felt like she was kind of falling
(19:46):
all over. So she's super sweet, but when we were leaving,
she was, you know, she was kind of like not
not all there. And I got into uber with her
and I uh make sure she got in her apartment.
But but you know, I.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Just are you sorry? Are you saying drunk or something
or what's the deal?
Speaker 5 (20:08):
Yeah? Oh no, no, no, that that'd be rather that's
an understatement.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Are you drunk right now?
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
No kidding, No, I got a I.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Got a light to live.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
I got a love for live, bro.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
That's all all right, that's a lot.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Okay, So I'm sorry what she on the phone to? Yes,
yes she is.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
So how did you know?
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Like?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
What was she doing? What was her behavior? Like?
Speaker 5 (20:39):
Man, you know when you got got a few too
many in you and and you get that like, uh,
you can't you.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Can't put the bong down? And what's what is happening? What?
Speaker 2 (20:53):
So?
Speaker 1 (20:53):
What what did she do?
Speaker 4 (20:57):
He's talking about? She was?
Speaker 5 (21:01):
She was, she was falling down trying to get out
the restaurant. And then I mean, I don't play that way, baby,
I got stuff to do. Man, I care about my life.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
I like.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Motivation or anything.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
I gotta say. I can't. I'm not following.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Really, hang on, you guys, hang on, hang on, hang
on please hey Leilani, uh huh, don't make me talk
to him anymore.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah, don't please, You're better than this. I have no
clue what you saw on that dude, we all for
what just happened.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
I don't understand how he can remember what happened on
the dates. And he sounds like he's stone out of
his mind. He's a total liar. I all together like,
I got a couple of drinks and relaxed, but I
wasn't stumbling.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Like that guy.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
I would have I would have killed to be a
fly on the wall on your date because I want
to know what really happened. I think he just made
all that up. That's not your guy. Hang on, okay, hey,
thank you? What just happened?
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I think there's the most irritating second date update we've
ever done.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
I apologize after the fact. Yeah, I mean, we'll put
that one up on the podcast too, if you want
to relive that goodness second day of seven oh five
weekday mornings, we will replay it at nine oh five
and then, like I said, the podcast will be up
by noon today. Thank you, Corey.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Uh. You can set a preset and that way you
have one touch access on the iHeartRadio, which is newly redesigned,
more variety from the two thousands, the nineties and today
it's Star one oh one three, It's Marcus A Corey,
It's seven to twenty. Good morning.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Here are some ways that good habits and bad habits
can make or break your workday. I don't know where
this survey came from, but there was new research. This
is one of them surveys. You didn't even know you needed.
One of the number one things you can do first
thing in the morning before you even drink your coffee
is to hydrate. Yes, chug some water. I'm pretty good
at that. I have a twenty ounce container and I
(22:55):
will suck down at least twenty ounces before even taking
my first sip of coffee.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Oh gosh, that's the first thing I do.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Because you wake up dehydrated.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
I keep water by me at all times.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Here's some bad habits. Not taking walks, not going offline
to take breaks.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
During your work day.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Yes, okay, just like you know, if you're sitting at
your at your workstation and you just eyes glued on
the computer or you know. Frankly, for me, the hard
part is a large part of what we do for
work is doing videos for social media. But then you
find yourself scrolling and you're scrolling.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Yeah, because after you post the video, you're like, oh,
what's that?
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, I see me scrolling. That was unnecessary.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
But I have outside Like we we work in a
building that's unique because it's got like a little uh
what do you call it? When it had the centers.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Empty an alcove.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Yeah, and so sometimes let's go out.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
There and bring the atrium. You go out there, it
looks like like weirdly RoboCop out there.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
It's a little destitute. But I'm more going out there
to get fresh air. Sometimes you can get stuffy in
here and I just take a couple of deep breaths
and go, Okay, you can face Marcus again.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Oh my god, people getting you got to get your
workouts in. My therapist always ask me marquitos, That's what
she calls me. Did you did you exercise today? Yeah,
especially if you're like worked up, exercises the best. And
I'm the laziest person you know as far as exercise,
(24:26):
trust me. Yeah, but you're really busy though, But getting
like a fifteen minute walk to just clear your head
is so good. Yeah, that's a I would. That's obviously
a good habit that will help the improve your workday.
You know. We had a coworker that like and we
used to do this. We do this on the show too.
If if if it's if we get emotional, I got
to take a walk and it could be just around
(24:48):
the building, or we could go downstairs and and walk
to u oracle parking back. Yeah, and lucky enough. You
know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
If you get that chance, take it, because you know,
this is where headaches come from from. This is where
stress comes from being tired.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
So good are bad habits that could make or break
your workday. The other big one is, and we do
this better as we get older, is like, listen to
your body if you need likely. Yesterday I was cooked
and I wanted to play Uno with my child and
she was working on a project like Daddy's gonna go
lay down for like ten minutes. Yeah, and oh it
was so good just to reset your brain. Sometimes sometimes
you don't even have to fall asleep. You just close
(25:24):
your eyes and it resets your brain. It's crazy anyway.
Some good habits, good ideas.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Right there, it's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.
Sometimes all you need is won a good son to
make it a great day. So let's do this.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
It's good news.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
I'm star three give you good news twice in morning
just to brighten your day a little bit. I love
today's good news because it involves an organization that I
just got involved with this year. Yeah, that speaks to me.
Meals on wheels. Oh yeah, when I tell you what
this Meal's on Wheels employee did, It's gonna warm your heart.
And the reason I love Meals on Wheels a couple
(26:04):
of reasons. A. It has to do with food. B.
It has to do with helping out seniors who may
or may not otherwise eat because they're homebound. And then
also the third tier is the volunteers, the drivers. They're
not just delivering meals. They like go in and do
wellness checks and it might be the only human contact
that that senior citizen has that day.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
They take time. It's not just a drop off thing.
Let it go in and visit for a while, and
these people this might be the only visit they get.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Correct. So I'm involved with Meals on Wheels San Francisco.
Shout out to my crew over there. I will be
mceing their annual Star Chefs and Vintnor's Gala on the
eighteenth of May at Fort Mason. That's gonna be a
lot of fun. We're gonna raise a bunch of money
for the organization. Tickets are available now if you go
to the Marcus and Corey Instagram Lincoln Bio. This has
to do with Sacramento Meals on Wheels and a lady
who is being recognized nationally. Her name is Patricia. She
(26:53):
basically saved one of her clients' lives because she walked
in on it. And again, a lot of times they
don't get checked on. Well, he had gotten trapped in
his bed for three straight days. I don't know. A
lot of those beds are like foldable collapsible you hit
the wrong button, and my dad had one of these.
It has the movable base. So maybe they hit the
button and like kick the legs up too far.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Who knows, Yeah, and maybe not physically able to correct
remove themselves, or cognitively able to realize what's going on.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Sure, that was one of those things with my dad
when I was taking care of him. I would be
like Papa, if something happens, I gave one of those
things to put around your neck, just hit the button.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
He could never remember to hit the button.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
So it really is that simple when you have demension
and mobility issues at any rate. Patricia checked on her
person and just found him on the floor in his bedroom,
completely confused, unable to get up.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I hate that.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
She immediately called nine to one one she'd only been
a volunteer for a year. Is not the first time
she's encountered something like this on her delivery route. She said,
nothing surprises me anymore. I'm sure it's like one say.
If you're a caregiver like like I was, nothing surprises
you anymore. If this story has moved you in any way,
meals on wheels, always looking for volunteers. Sure so good
(28:10):
on this lady Patricia there in the nine one six
out there in Sacktown taking care of her clients. And
also a stark reminder, just check on your seniors. If
you have an older person who lives on your block,
check on them, make them part of your family. That's
good news. This hour brought to you by Stanford Medicine,
Children's Health, Access to Excellence, Well Variety from the two thousands,
the nineties, and today. It's Star one oh one three,
Marcus and Corey Time to play. Our trivia game is
(28:31):
