Gen Z'ers are using the internet for money saving tips. We agree with some, but not with all:
  1. Fashion: Thrift, swap, and DIY over fast fashion
  2. Food: Cooking hacks and budget-friendly eating
  3. Travel: affordable adventures over luxury vacations
  4. Work & income: Monetizing skills and side hustles
  5. Entertainment: Free and low-cost fun over expensive nights out
  6. Health & Wellness: Budget-friendly self-care
  7. Financial literacy: Learning money management from viral content

Chappell Roan made some people mad with her comments about children. She says all of her friends her age (27) with kids are miserable. Agree or disagree?

How to harness good stress:
  • Find the “Goldilocks zone” - The key is finding the sweet spot that’s not too much or too little stress and you have to push yourself a little to find it. “Challenge yourself to go outside your comfort zone without feeling overwhelmed,” the expert advises.
  • Don’t just positively reframe the stress in your life - Take action with meaningful and purpose-driven challenges, like taking on a new job opportunity or learning a new skill.
  • Be strategic about recovery - “To grow from stress, you have to make time for rest and recovery,” Bergquist explains. You need that for your body and brain to reset and build new connections to better handle future challenges.
  • Lean into the body-mind connection - Physically stressing yourself can help build mental resilience and vice versa, according to this stress researcher. She explains, “When you experience good physical or psychological stress, you repair and regenerate your cells, which makes every part of your body healthier and stronger.”
  • Trust that you were made for some stress - Humans were built to overcome stress and get stronger because of it. It’s okay to be scared and want to avoid challenges, but Bergquist says, “Trust and do it anyway. The result can be life-changing.”

Second Date Update: Alexis calls us about Dave. He is not too happy that during the date, Alexis was speaking French with the server.

Star, one on one three more variety from the two thousands,
the nineties, and today, just before six o'clock, it is
Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
It is Wednesday, Good morning, Hi. What's going on? Corey?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
You know, I'm really looking forward to the season opener
on Friday?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
For baseball home opener? Are you a baseball chick?

Speaker 4 (00:19):
Now?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
All of a sudden the score of a sudden?

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Okay, what are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I got invited to the game and I can't go.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Oh really, why can't you go?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
I have already had commitments. Frankly I should try to
get out of because I really want to go to
opening day, Like really, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I love the upper deck at Oracle Park.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
It's fun.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's my fave.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, you know why because all the food is up there.
It's the same foods downstairs. Typically less people now on
opening day gonna be busy, but but should be a
good time.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Go giants in advance.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
I popped into Brickhouse yesterday and my friend Kim and
mo her like I would call her manager. Yeah, they
were working on fun cocktails, yeah, for the home opener,
and they're going to have a one of those three
D photo booths where you stand in the center.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
That's cool spins around you.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
It's always fun to listen in eavesdrop, if you will,
on somebody like Kim with her creative process, because they're
putting together a very special opening day San Francisco Giants cocktail,
and so Moe, who is also an accomplished bartender, was
like making some sort of orange elixir because Giants, And
then Kim goes, do we have any of those little

(01:36):
baseball gumballs gumballs? Because then they put the baseball gumball
into the drink and it's just the cutest and Mo
looks here and goes, only if your husband didn't need
them all? I can only see that because Fred her
husband will go through the middle form.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
My weekend was extended because we had out of town
guests and it's my wife's best friend and when she
comes to town, like we still throw down even though
it's Monday and Tuesday. So we had a taco night
on Monday night. Last night we went out and the
husband and I get along quite well. And finally last
night I was showing him Red Dead Redemption on my
PS four because he's also a game no check it out.

(02:15):
His wife is she's such a project manager. She's a
project manager by trade. So she and my wife were
playing Uno with my daughter upstairs. They all come downstairs
and my ten year old goes, I.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Knew they were gonna be gaming.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, And then his wife goes, we're going to bed,
and he goes and he goes, no, we were just
messing around. Just shut the door, and no, we're going
to bed. My wife looks at me and goes, you're
going to bed. I like that eight o'clock, eight o'clock
lights out. Everybody to bed because they had they got
up earlier than I did this morning. They had to
get up at three to get on the road by

(02:47):
four to catch a six thirty to Minneapolis.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Okay, so yeah, that's how it went.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Anyway, great, I love that.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Lock it down, Yeah, lock it down because us two
knuckleheads left our own devices.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Anyway, hope everybody's having a good week. Thus far more
tickets for outside Lands on the way. Don't forget about that.
That's coming up at eight oh five with the trivia
game on the Way next, money saving tips that gen
z is is learning off the internet, and I'm slightly horrified.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
You're there's some good, there's some not so good.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Okay, we're gonna talk about that. Nets at six twenty
hang on No Variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
It's Star one on one three it's Marcus and Corey.
Wednesday Morning, Good Morning saw a headlined that it's supposed
to be positive, but actually troubled me, to be honest
with you, Yeah, fired up. Here's how gen zers are
turning viral trends into good financial decisions. Then they go
on to list different types of videos of different genres
and subjects and things, and how they're helping people save money.
And I gotta call like medium sized bs on some

(03:49):
of this all right?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
For example, a.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Lot of these cooking tips people who are supposed chefs,
the people that make cooking videos just to.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Fire me up.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yes, Like, for example, take your ribbi steak and add
seventeen tablespoons of butter to it, and then just based
that's not cooking.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I don't know what that is.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
That's just making a butter flavor.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I have to watch one more person eat dinner off
a cutting board. I ate sixteen eggs today and a
pound of ground beef and an avocado.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
I haven't touched the vegetables, saying good for you. Shut up.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
I ate a banana and then I rubbed the peel
on my face.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh mad.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
And then my buddy sends me this TikTok of a
guy who's I found a new hack to scoop out
an avocado and he's using a wisk on a power drill,
and I'm like, do you know what that's gonna be
like to clean?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
For the love of God.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Just use his phone. It's serious. It's not that Still,
I've got my blood pressure.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, let's look a little at the positive side of things.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
The positive side on that is Corey says that her husband,
the chef, is very much a TikTok guy, and you've
spent got a lot of recipes he's cooking at home.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
You guys are saving money.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
We're saving money because you're not doing Postmates or you
can get some stuff out of it. You just have
to do the deep dive and know which accounts are
legit and which our.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Key don't do anything blind, all right, please continue.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
One thing that I do find which is smart, is
all these sell your clothes websites like Poshmark. You might
have bought something, you can't return it, you can sell
it sure, or you can buy used clothes and they're
not going to be as expensive.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
There's phrases they're using on social media. Come thrifting with
me or.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Thrift halls, anything that doesn't perpetuate this fast fashion trend.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
The other one that really troubles me is anything to
do with your money. People that are like, oh, I
got a side hustle that's perfect for you. All you
gotta do is make a journal on Amazon and then
sell it over here, and then.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
It's gotta be bs. It's gotta be them selling you something.
That's the endgame.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Probably you just have to God, you have to be
careful to such a rester.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Right now, you sound a little bit like a dad.
But other cost cutting ideas on here, like entertainment that
one's good, DIY, movie nights, board game nights, pop luck dinners.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Anything to get my mind work, and like, just give
me an emphasis of an idea and I can get started.
But then it goes right to health and wellness. How
many times you see something on TikTok. All you gotta do, guys,
is glue these fake braces to your.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Teeth the hot Dog diet got me shred.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
No, I will say this.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
When Jeff worked for Nike, I had access to the
Nike Workout app and it had all these different workouts
on there and I used it.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
You know, it was free. I'm down.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Here's another one that scares me. Apparently gen Z is
learning financial literacy off of social media. And again sometimes, yes,
there are a lot of good ones there, but sometimes
when they're like, bro, here's the crypto you need to
hook up before the middle of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
No, stop, do your research.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
God, all right, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
You need to take some deep breaths.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
See the Internet as a web of lies. Yes, anything
you might have learned that is legit would love to
hear about it. You should talk back on the iheartradiop
it's that little red microphone.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Maybe we're completely off base. Let us know. Quick message
would be great. We're all here to learn, all right.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
It's Star one O one three, Well variety from the
two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one on
one three.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
It's Marcus and Corey. Good morning, good morning.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
So Star artist Chapel Rone made a comment on a
podcast about parenting that literally split the internet in half.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
I've noticed that she's very vocal about her opinions, and
sometimes it can be hard because you got to keep
in mind she's twenty seven, right. She said, all of
my friends who have kids are in hell, and some
moms felt seen, including one who commented I felt this
in my soul and another who shared she is speaking
the truth. But other parents took offense or disagreed, like

(07:43):
one who called the singer's comments completely tone deaf, and
another commenting having children was the greatest honor of my life.
Now twenty seven, I don't feel like you're completely formed yet.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I mean I didn't feel like an adult until I
was in my forties.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I was just gonna say I was about forty six,
I think when I finally started figuring things out.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
Yeah, And so I'm sure someone who is a kid
at twenty seven is overwhelmed.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I want to read a couple of other comments. She says,
I actually don't know anyone who is like happy and
has kids at this age. I've literally not met anyone
who's happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, and
anyone who has slept. Now, I think she's projecting some
of herself here to be honest with you. I love
her music. I think Chapelone could get cranky. I do
I have kids. We also have a lot of friends

(08:28):
that don't have kids. Before I had kids, I didn't
understand why everybody didn't want kids. Now that I have
a child and I'm charged with taking care of a
living human being, I can completely understand why somebody wouldn't
want to. Now for me, there's no way I'm not
having kids. I went back in my head several times
and went would my life have taken a different turn
or whatever, There's no way I'm not having this child.

(08:50):
I love her with my entire being. I so desperately
wanted a little girl. I think my kid is brilliant.
And if you're a parent, you experience a type of
love and a level of love that is unattainable if
you don't have kids.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
That is just my opinion.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
I would have kids. If my mom was still alive,
I probably have two.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Why is that she would just stare at you until
it happened.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
She passed away.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
When I was in my twenties from breast cancer, but
before all of that, she wanted grandchildren. Sure, and if
she were still around, I definitely have kids, but it
wasn't so much so Jeff and I actively decided, my husband, Jeff,
we decided that we didn't want kids. It was more
that our life was constantly changing, constantly moving, constantly doing things,

(09:34):
and then all of a sudden, I was at an
age where I'm like, oh, I can't do that.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Now I have a friend who had a baby at
forty nine.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I mean, you can do it. You have to be
mentally prepared.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Being a good parent is not for the feint of heart.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
And that's why I have a respect for people who
decide not to make that choice. It is a choice,
and it is not for everybody. You go to your
friends into having kids. Stop I remember, stop trying to
pressure people. My wedding night, Marcus. My wedding night, people
were like, when you're gonna have a baby.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I was like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
We don't do that.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
We just set our vows and we normalize not doing that.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
We're asking people why they don't have them.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Sure, that's very personal because you don't know if it's
a medical issue.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
We're assuming it's because they don't like kids.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I like kids. I think they're hilarious.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
There is one comment here that kind of sums it
up for me. This mom says, as tired as I've
ever been, nothing has filled my cup more than the snuggles,
the giggles, and the growth of my kids. Helping them
become good and kind humans is the honor of my life.
I'm a happy, working mom. I'm not a working mom,
but I feel that. Yesterday at dinner and we were
with our friends who don't have kids, and we was

(10:45):
watching my daughter operate and she was able to hold
her own at the table with other adults ten years old,
and she's cracking jokes and whatever. My friend leans over
because she's basically you.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
I go, thank god. She looks like her mother.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
She looks like her mom, but she acts like her dad,
and there's something match about that.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
It is if I was going to have kids with anybody,
it would be my husband.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Well, thank god.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah, be awkward anyway, If you have any thoughts on this,
would love it again. Chapelerone saying she doesn't know anybody
her age twenty seven who is happy having.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Kids, and that's a bold statement.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
It is a bold statement. I don't agree with it,
but would love to know what you think. If you're
streaming Star one on one three. You can leave us
a talkback right now. That little red microphone. Love to
know your thoughts. It's Star one O one three. Teddy
Swim springing it from the Soul. That's his latest called

this every time, but if you really want to be
moved by Teddy Swims, go on YouTube and look up
him doing his cover of Don't Stop Believing by Journey.

(11:38):
You really do say that every time, but that's what
really got me all about him. Anyway, Teddy Swims, there
you go.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Talking about. It's what's trending on Star one one three.

Speaker 6 (11:50):
What's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day,
and everything people are talking about today in the Bay.

Val Kilmer's passed away at sixty five. Yeah, he played
Bruce Wayne and Batman Forever. Jim Morrison in The Doors
of Course, Iceman and Top Gun, Real Genius, Tombstone, Heat

(12:19):
the Saint. His daughter Mercedes shared that he passed on
Tuesday due to pneumonia. He was diagnosed with throat cancer
in twenty fourteen, but later recovered. His final film role
was in twenty twenty two as Iceman again in Top
Gun Maverick.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Thanks to everybody checking in on the talkback with your
favorite Val Kilmer moment. I know Corey yours is from
Real Genius, right.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
I love everything he's in, sure, but Real Genius was
just one of these eighties.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Trying to trying to act.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Ask Corey to drill down one line from one movie
is like asking you what your favorite food is.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
That's hard. Do you know what I mean? Or where
your favorite restaurant is?

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I did pick one.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I was thinking of the Moorph lords of Socrates, who said.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I drink what.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
My favorite and easy one for me. I've seen this
movie a thousand times. Tombstone. Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
He must be Doc Holliday, he retired to not me.
I'm in my prime. So cool.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
He was actually watched the documentary. I think it's on Prime.
It was really interesting. Because he hosts it and he
and they talk about that scene where he's dying in
uh tombstone, and he actually lined the bed with ice
so he could be in that physical pain and really
just get into character.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
And I thought that was incredible.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
It's pretty neat, so good.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Brad Pitt's going to be starring in a follow up
to his Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Tarantino wrote the script, but he's not going to be directing.
It's gonna be David Fincher from the Social Network. Brad
Pitt will be reprising his Oscar winning role as stuntman
Cliff Booth, and there is rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio will
join as movie Starbick Dalton. Shooting for the film could

(14:07):
reportedly begin by late summer. Now, it's not a sequel,
but it's based on the film, Okay, so it doesn't
necessarily take place after the first one. If you love cheese,
it's who doesn't. Scory's jam and Pizza.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
We've got a combo for you.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
The food blogger who says that cheese it is going
to have a frozen pizza. It's going to hit store.
Shehelves soon and basically it's a cheese it original flavored
cracker crust and then cheese. So I'm thinking it's got Marinara.
I'm assuming it has Marinia.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Sorry I missed this part. Who is making this? Is
it a collab?

Speaker 3 (14:43):
No, it's just cheese. It's making it.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
It's a frozen pizza. Okay, that cheese it the cracker
is making. I see, so the crust is going to
be Are you.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
In on this? I don't know. I'd have to try it.
It's I mean, I'm intrigued.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Okay, there you go.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
I don't know who needs to hear this, But Meghan
Trainor has just revealed she does indeed use weight loss drugs.
Hold on for what she's got going on what after speculation,
she says she's the healthiest, strongest version of herself for
her family.

Speaker 5 (15:12):
I'm happy for people who are doing this. I mean,
if it's helping you, I'm happy for you. And I
really do appreciate when I mean, you're honest about it,
real talk.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
You know, I was prescribed you know, ozempic way before
it was the thing, but not for weight loss.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
No, but I have diabetes.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
It was originally developed for people with diabetes and it
has really helped out. And frankly, when you do lose weight,
it takes a lot of stress off your body. Yes,
so that's what you're trying to accomplish. You still have
to you still have to develop and maintain good habits.
It's still necessary. But anyway, good on her for being
honest about it. Let's see, let's go to sports real quick,

(15:49):
as the Warriors have secured the fifth spot in the playoffs.
Love it Uncle Steph scored fifty two points last night
to beat Memphis and secure that seed. Final was one third,
four to one to twenty five. They're headed to Los
Angeles to take on the Lakers. Tip off at seven o'clock, Maniana,
and then can't wait for a Giants home opener. They

It's a dating segment where we try to figure out
how to get you a second date.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
You were able to snag the first one on your own.
Now things are a little wonky.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yes, we're gonna figure it out exactly how it happens.
Let's welcome Alexis to the show. Good morning, Alexis. Hey,
how are you doing very well?

Speaker 2 (17:18):
You're now the Star.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Oh thank you. Let's talk about your date. So tell
us about d Like, let's start with how you met
and then and then tell us about how the date went.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
Okay, so David I matched on hinge and we were
messaging back and forth. I also love that they have
like the voice edition now. So I heard his voice
and I was like, ooh, he sounds yummy, and so
we just started vibing and then he was like, do
you want to grab dinner? And he chose a really
great restaurant, one of my faves. Yeah, we just had

(17:49):
a really good.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Time, like good banter.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
We have weird obsessions with reality TV, which I really loved.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Okay, but then the date ended.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
We kissed and I never heard from him.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
So just like a full ghost, not not a backpedal
or homer into the bushes or anything of that nature.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Like a big kiss, little kiss. I mean, it was
a good kiss. It wasn't like sloppy.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Okay, Okay, Corey your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
I'm thinking this is like a terminator situation. Someone came
in the future to.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
Collect Dave because he's needed to prevent a disaster only
he can prevent in the future.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yes, there are some days.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
You make it really weird.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
You're welcome make my job really hard.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
I know.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
He did have good hair, so maybe like the haircut
will save no where else.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
He did have good hair. Yeah, it could happen, so good.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Maybe his hair is the key to saving society.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Okay, we have to stop. All right, listen, you know
the drill. We're gonna call him. We're gonna see what
he thought of the date. We're gonna figure out if
he ghost him. Can you hang on the line with
the place we'll do it?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yes, I would love that radio.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
We'll be right back with it.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
It's a variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today.
It's a Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey.
We're doing second date update. We've had a Lexus on
the phone. She seems delightful. I gotta be honest. Yeah,
alexis you're still there? I am okay, good, Sorry to
talk about you like you weren't there.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Uh No, I like him.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Let's call your date because I'm bummed out Dave ghosted.
I mean you did say there was a decent kiss
at the end of the day. So I'm just trying
to figure out where he went. Let's call him. Go
ahead and mut your phone and we'll give him a shout.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Do we go?

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Okay, Hello, how may speak with Dave? Please?

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (19:45):
This Dave.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Hi David. It's Marcus and Corey from Star one on
one three.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Hey Dave Radio.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Yes, iHeartRadio San Francisco. Great, guess how are you? I
don't suppose you listen to our show? Do you? No?

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Not really? Okay? Cool? It seems neat.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
We're delightful. You really should check out our show.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Do you have a minute to be on the air?

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I know that's weird.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Is this like an advertisement or something? No?

Speaker 1 (20:14):
I mean, do you have a business to plug?

Speaker 6 (20:17):
No?

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Not really?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Okay, good, No, it's called second date update. We got
a call from a lady you just went on a
date with. She enjoyed her time with you, would love
to go out again. She's feeling like you ghosted. Would
you mind talking on the air with us about your
date with Alexis?

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah, no way, she dug you man, So what's up?

Speaker 2 (20:40):
She did it? No, that's that's the book, you know.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
She I ghosted her because she was talking crap about
me while we were on the date.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
How was she doing that with who? With the waitress
in front of you? Well, look when I got there.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Apparently Alexis have got there a little bit before me
and burned the ways had a little rapport and.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
They figured out that they both spoke French.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
So throughout the date they were speaking in French a
little bit back and forth.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
But here's the thing, I also speak French. Oh god,
what was she saying?

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Well, I mean during the date, they were just having
a little French banter back and forth, and I just
thought i'd keep it to myself that I knew everything
that they were saying.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
But at the end of the date, when she asked
Alexis how the date went, he told the waitress.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Well, he's not as cute as his.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Profile, but I'll keep him around for a free meal
every now and.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Then she said that in front of you, well in French,
but yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Okay, hold on for a sec, Dave.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
So the thing about second date update is Alexis is
listening right now. Yes, Alexis, Hi, I believe.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Guess what I speak French? Wow?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Okay, Well, first of all, we were just joking.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Around, So did you say these things or not?

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Okay, So I said that he wasn't as cute because
he looked different in his profile picture. But I was
just ceazing. Listen, just earlier I was talking about you
have amazing hair, so like they're really lovely qualities and
he should abody should be. Well, I know, it's just
you look different, like it definitely was filtered.

Speaker 7 (22:29):
You have to admit that you look.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
What's interesting, though, is that you don't find there's anything
wrong with Like because whenever I go out with Marcus
to lunch and he starts speaking Spanish and I don't
know it's being said, I'm always like, don't be talking trash.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Even though you know I am.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Around.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
So wait, why do you want to go out with
him if he's not that cute?

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Like are you just hungry or what? Because that's what
I heard?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
I mean like, times are tough, I like eating?

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Right?

Speaker 3 (23:01):
So you'd go back out with him just for the
me have stuff in common?

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Like I don't know, maybe we can just like go
out and eat and then like, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
What do you think, Dave? No way, I don't buy
it one bet, I mean exactly. Sorry, Sorry, don't be
hang on.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Wow, I mean not wrong. Times are tough, but don't
use people. No, don't use people.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Uh never ceases to amaze me. All right.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Second date update, it's seven oh five weekday mornings. You
replay it nine oh five as always, you can set
a preset now on the iHeartRadio app. Marcus and Corey
second date update for one touch access to all the
past phone calls, more variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today at Star on one three it's Marcus and
Corey seven to twenty. I'm dying right now because there's

(23:50):
an expert who weighed in and said, here are some
tips to harness the power of good stress. And ninety
minutes ago Corey was all about it. And then right
before we're about to go out of the air, here
this is bs bah blah blah blahh Okay, I'll just
do all these things.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Well, it's easier said than done, and I I'm dead.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
I am an anxiety bunny. I had.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
I had an anxiety moment on Monday and had to
do all the things to get my head in the
right space again.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
But these it's really easy to go. Oh, you know,
you should deal, you should meditate. It's so good to
fear you out.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
So what does this expert say you should do to
harness the power of your what they call good stress,
because some stress is good for you.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
Apparently this a doctor who says that there is a
type of stress that can be good for us so well.
Too much stress can be bad because it can actually
raise your blood pressure and your cortisol and all that.
But what she calls good stress has the opposite effect
by releasing dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
You gotta find your zone, though they call it the
Goldilocks zone, the sweet spot where it's just enough stress
and not too much stress. That that's called challenging yourself,
getting outside your comfort zone. But don't allow yourself to
get overwhelmed.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Well that sounds so easy. I'm just not gonna get overwhelmed.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
We did have a boss, our previous boss who has
since moved on to New York, who gave me a
lot of life advice because I've worked for him, I
don't know four times over the last thirty years. He
said to me one day, you will never grow unless
you are made to feel uncomfortable. You'll never truly grow
and should be huge.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
I'm always uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
I don't mean grow physically, I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
No, that's true.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
You need to experience things to grow as a person.
It's just sometimes these are easier said than done. Don't
just positively reframe the stress in your life. Takes action
with meaningful and purpose driven challenges like taking on a
new job opportunity or learning a new skill.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
It takes a lot to be like, you know what,
I'm gonna learn how to do today. I'm going to
learn how to do wood floors because for me, I
have a lot of what I would call ancillary forces
at work. Because I could go home and tell my
wife I want to learn how to do the floors,
and then she would give me a look like all right, and.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
Then who do I call to fix them? It's not
that I don't want to learn new skills. I'm okay
with the skills I have. I don't know how that sounds.
I don't know if that sounds lazy.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
I'm always of a growth mindset. I always wake up
every morning and go, all right, what else can I
learn today? Even if it's not that serious, if it's
not that big, you know what I mean, just a little.
I believe in little tweaks every day, just to make
myself just a little bit cooler. That's all. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
This is about a doctor saying there is a type
of good stress.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Be strategic about recovery. To grow from stress, you have
to make time for rest and recovery.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
I like it when you do. The voice.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
You need that for your body and brain to reset
and build new connections.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
My only issue with that point is, don't make that.
Don't let a little bit of stress turn into a
carte blanche to just relax.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
All the time. I need a day, man, I need
to do or shut down or shut down.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
I try to work through my issues. Like I recognize it,
and I'm like, Okay, I'm feeling overwhelmed, I'm feeling a
little anxiety.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
What can I do to change that?

Speaker 1 (27:09):
I'm gonna couple these last two. It says lean into
that body mind connection. Physically stressing yourself can help build
mental resilience. I do agree with that, and then trust
that you were made for some stress. Humans were built
to overcome stress and get stronger because of it. It's
okay to be scared and want to avoid challenges, but
trust it and do it anyway. The result could be

(27:30):
life changing. The result there's the voice again.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Oh my god, you guys.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
The voice of absolute wisdom. Yes from Corey Foley. Yes,
do we help anybody? Just now?

Speaker 3 (27:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
I mean again, it's like every time I've tried to meditate,
I either fall asleep or my brain just runs away
like a train.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Sure, so try some of these things. Something that I
personally that helps me overcome stress is writing down all
of the things I'm either avoiding or that I need
to get accomplished.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
And then crossing him off. And then you feel the
stress leaving your body.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Oh thought she were gonna say tequila.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Oh do you feel the stress leaving your body? Plus tequila?
It's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
Sometimes all you need is one a good thought to
make it a great day.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
So let's do this.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
It's good news on Star one one three.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
So we give you good news twice in morning, Seve,
just to make you smile. It's not very often that
a good news story that we share is both heartbreaking
and heartwarming at the same time. However, this is happening.
This is the story that a woman posted on her
TikTok about an uber driver who stepped in and posed
as her dad so a mechanic wouldn't rip her off.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
I hate that he had to do that. I'm glad
he did, but I hate that he had to do it.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
So her name is Catalina, and she was suspecting that
she was getting ripped off with some engine service by
the mcannic that she was using, and some of the
suggested repairs unnecessary. And so the Uber driver comes in.
He knows about cars, and he's taking a look at

(29:12):
the engine with the hands on his hips, basically telling
the mechanic that we don't need to do this, we
don't need to do that. She described it as he
went into full dad mode.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
That is so sweet. I had to have Jeff do
that for me.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
In Texas, there was this guy who was doing a
really poor job at our house. He was working on
a project and when I asked him about it, he
laughed at me. He was not laughing with me, he
was laughing at me. And Jeff had to take time
off work to come home and fire this guy. And
it happens all the time. I was getting oil changed
and the guy at the place was like, oh, you know,

(29:44):
we got to check your front differential and your reard differential,
and I said, well, my car's only two well drive,
so I only have one differential.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Boom, But thanks for asking me.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
The number of times I have to explain to especially
if it's dude's they're working on our house, Like our
gardener just could not conceptualize the fact that, like, look,
yes we're going to do a big landscaping project. The
lady next to me is the actual project manager. I
am just the silent financial partner.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Like you spend any time in my house, you know
who calls the shots at my outfit? Yeah? You know
what I mean. It's not me.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
It's just I love that this guy's not on a
lot of things, like we share stuff. But in that case, yeah,
but this is, just like you said, heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
This is uber driver who stepped in and pretended to
be a lady's dad so she wouldn't get ripped off
at the garage. More variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today. It's Star one on one three. It's Marcus E.
Kory and it is time to play the Bay's favorite
trivia game. This is called what You Know About That.

Speaker 5 (30:40):

answer them all. Each person's going to be asked separately
with their opponent on hold. Whoever gets the most right
answers wins. If you don't know an answer, you yell out,
pass and we'll come back to the question if we
have time left.

Speaker 2 (31:32):

I'm making these questions harder. You guys complain that I
make them too hard, and then I make them easy,
and this is no funny anyone.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
I really love this.

Speaker 1 (33:46):

and Born This Way?

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Oh my god. They both said, Lady got guys, Lady

Speaker 2 (34:08):
It's not your fault. I'm making them hard. All right.
You guys are going to the tiebreaker.
