Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Matthews Honda Akurra High School Game of the Week
all Right High School Basketball Magic ninety five to nine.
Here in Sycamore, the Bullhawk Warriors able to come up
with the victory forty four to thirty three on the
Senegese Tigers and joined by Allison Russell and Anna Russell

(00:21):
after this game, two seniors, thanks for joining us. So, Alison,
you have the headset right now and nine points for
you in this game. We know the situation. You know,
they came in with fourteen wins, they beat you the
first time by ten points, You're down a couple of
players and some injury situations. What gave you confidence that

(00:44):
you could come in here and get this victory today
over the Tigers.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, we definitely knew we needed to come in strong.
It being one of our last games and seen night,
we really wanted to play hard and try our best
to win. We've really been working on talking and defense,
even with like less players on trying to work.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Through it and do good right on and uh so
yeah with Allison and also Anna is with us as well.
So Allison, obviously the previous game north Board, that was
a challenging one and you did have the twelve point
edge and then wound up falling by five. In this game,
the Tigers, they were trying to come back, but you

(01:24):
just didn't let them do it. You were able to
win it. What were some things perhaps that you learned
from that previous game in north Board that helps you
finish off and get this w.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
And North Moore, we definitely came out after halftime slow
and that's when they got a big run. And we've
been doing that quite a bit. So we really focused
when the into the locker room to not get down
in that third quarter, which we almost did, but we
came back and.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Played hard right on. Yeah, with Alison and Russell will
give you one more and then we'll turn it over
to and Uh. Clearly, when you look at the situation
with the N ten, it seems that any team could
beat any team at any time. What are some of
the things that you and your teammates have really worked
through and to be able to use this experience to

(02:04):
be able to have a strong run perhaps in Division
seven in the tournament.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, we know we weren't doing too hot in the
end ten, but towards the end of the season, once
we knew we weren't necessarily gonna win it. We really
focused on just getting better for the tournaments and working on.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Things that we need to work on right on. Well,
it certainly worked out well for you today. Congratulations Allison,
And we'll get to Anna and here for some words
we switch headsets. Yes, thank you so much. Seven points
for you this afternoon. And and this was a situation
in which the game started earlier. You know, we're trying

(02:40):
to get out of here before the weather gets crazy
on us and all the freezing rain and so forth.
How does that sort of change the dynamic in which
it's an earlier game you have to get prepared for.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, we happened having earlier games because like our last game,
we had no GV because we've been low on numbers,
so that's kind have helped. And then this morning we
just got out of bed, came here, shot around and
got ready before.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
It is just get out of bed, let's start shooting
some ball. Love it here with Anna Russell. What can
you tell me about some of your teammates here as
they've been stepping up obviously some sophomores Chloe Miller, Yes,
she was just getting a lot of shot blocks in
this game. She's really been stepping it up. I have
an officially at eleven. Some others may have some different

(03:27):
numbers than I do. And Katie Woodland working your point
this season.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Oh yeah, all of our younger girls, they're all great.
They work the ball really good. Laura, she's done a
great job stepping up since your lower numbers. Katie does
a great job at handling ball. And Chloe's just always
great on the block, getting block shots, getting all of
our rebounds.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Light on. So you've got one more regular season game,
as I understand it, Monday, right, you're gonna go to
Elmwood and then tournament play will begin for you versus
Van Lou. How do you use this experience versus Elmwood
on Monday to get you ready for a Saturday game
against the Wildcats on the road.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
We're just gonna come out, push ourselves, work on some
things that we need to work on four tournaments, and
that way we're ready.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
That's what it takes.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Right.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Awesome, well and a great job and your sister as well,
Alliston to appreciate it. Thanks for stopping by, and hey,
we're looking forward to seeing you in a postseason. Thank you,
all right, there you go. Anna Russell and Alison Russell
after the victory this afternoon with the Moe Hawk Warriors

(04:36):
able to win it by eleven on the site Geese Tigers.
We'll take a break and wrap things up from Sycamore,
so let you with us from Matthew's on the Aggreg
Girl High schoo basketball game the week I'm matching ninety
five to nine at durry Heart Radio
