High school basketball Magic ninety five nine is it's a
celebratory mood in Sycamore, the Bullhawk Warriors getting the big
wins seventy seven to forty three open the Cineges Tigers,
and obviously the player of the game for sure, Hunter Haynes,
Senior ten threes for the record. Wow. So Hunter joined

(00:21):
us now and uh yeah, I mean, yeah, that record's
held up since February of two thousand and nine. Drew
Trusty had it. Uh he had a great nine threes
and his performance then, But wow, ten threes. I mean,
how do you even begin to describe what that feels like. Hunter.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's an unimaginable feeling. Like when I saw the first
one go in, I'm already like, okay, let's keep it going,
and we just keep going, stacking them up. You really
lose count towards the end, Like so everyone's screaming after
my ninth and I'm like, oh shoot, I'm that close,
and then my teammates screening for me, getting me the ball.
It was awesome.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
It certainly was. Yeah, this crowd was certainly jumping around
and excited for you, Hunter. And the thing is you
put in a lot of work. I mean, you are
a heck of a shooter. You're already leading the N
ten and threes made, and to have a special night
like this on senior night at that has to be great.
So just as a team and you look at it,

(01:20):
obviously you're one of ten seniors, so a senior leaden team.
What has that process been like over the years for
you guys developing it to this team that clearly could
make a significant run for the postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Oh yeah, besides junior high, we all like stuck together,
all best friends. We all push each other to our max.
Like sometimes we fight in practices because we push each
other so hard, so we're really working on our game
then a practice. So our chemistry is also great with
our brotherhood and everything.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
It's awesome, absolutely yes. And you know, I think about
some of the great teams like the Pistons of the nineties. Yeah,
they would fight each other and they won two nbchampions
Here with Hunter Haynes after the victory for the Boahawk
Warriors and his record setting performance of the ten threes.
So it's your final postseason ride for basketball with the Warriors.

You have a lot of potential. You could go really far.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Oh yeah, we're obviously we're looking at one game at
a time. We're ready for Northwood on Tuesday, and then
after that we're just gonna keep stacking up wins and
hopefully we can go make it the regionals like we
did two times in the last six years I think
or something like that, and then played the team we
played twice.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
That's exactly right. So that's a reality. Right. You do
take a game to game, but lots of fans and
perhaps you personally would love to have that third matchup
against Colonel Crawford. As we know, only two losses on
the season, it was to that team. Both those games
go into overtime, could have gone either way each time.
And so if it happens with being a regional semi

final on March fourth at Bowlink Green. So this Northwood opponent,
can you tell us anything you know about them? This
is the first time your program's ever faced Northwood.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, I mean, I haven't looked so much into it yet,
but like I heard, they were playing like better as
the season's progressed towards the end of the year. They're
playing better, keeping it competitive at all times. So we'll
be interested to see what happens on Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Absolutely so looking forward to it could be a magical ride,
but this was definitely a magical game for you, Hunter.
