Speaker 1 (00:01):
Oh yes, we are live Man to Mohawk, where the
Warriors are except to host the Winford Royals, who remain
in the running for a share of the IN ten
title with one week of conference play remaining. Hello, I'm
Kurt richards So and you're with us for some Friday
night hoops on Matching ninety five nine. This broadcast of

(00:22):
varsity girls basketball is presented by Matthews Honda Acurra. Winford
is thirteen and five, coming off a big win on
Tuesday night at Seneca East forty eight to twenty eight.
That win preserved Winford's narrow chance of claiming a share
of this year's IN ten title. That win also knocks
Seneca East out of a first place tie with Colonel Crawford,

(00:45):
and tonight, Colonel Crawford and Seneca East are playing each
other in North Robinson, and if Crawford wins that game,
the race for the title ends and the Eagles will
be the outright IN ten champions. But if Seneca East
wins that game, those two teams will again be tied,

(01:05):
each with three conference losses and one game remaining. That
would set up potential title clinching games for both and
their in ten finales involving our two teams here tonight
Colonel Crawford at home versus Winford fort of only two
teams to beat Colonel Crawford this season and Sendica East
here at Mohawk, and it could keep Winford and Carrie

(01:26):
in the mixed verst share of the title. That is,
if Carrie wins at Bucky Central tonight and Winford wins
here at Mohawk, Mohawk at three and fourteen can potentially
play the role of spoiler for the Winford Royals in
this game, and a win would provide potential momentum for
the Warriors as they prepare for the postseason. However, the

(01:47):
odds are not exactly in Mohawk's favor, and that brings
us to our injury report. Two starters are down, and
we already knew about Jaden Hamilton missing her fifth game
tonight due to a back injury, but we've got a
brand new injury here and it's to Aubrey Godfrey, the
sophomore post sustain a leg injury that happened last night

(02:12):
in practice. So she is here what crutches with her teammates,
but certainly not available to play, and her status moving
forward in this season at this point is unclear. Will
take a short break, we'll come back. We'll have your
guna for realty geese of the game. Of course, starting lineup,

(02:32):
so it would be different from Mohawk tonight and as
we get ready for the opening tap as well, So
glad you're with us tonight for matthew Sonbaker Girls High
School baketball Game of the Week Winford at Mohawk i
metic ninety five to nine at iHeartRadio National Anthem. Here
tonight Mohawk High School. The Warriors getting prepared to take

(02:53):
on the Royals of Winford. As for our keys to
the game for the Mohawk Warriors, low the tempo, the
Warriors' ability to protect the basketball and extend possessions will
reduced Winford's scoring opportunities. Ohawk would greatly benefit from a
lower scoring game in this specific matchup. Only ones had
Winford been unable to score in least forty points in

(03:13):
a game, and that was to carry in the thirty
five to thirty loss in December, which the Blue Devils
use a similar strategy to limit the Royals. As for Winford,
feed from ball, work from ball, the intens number two
score as one of the top post players in the conference.
She's able to score in the paint with either hand
and when doubled, she could find teammates who could knock

(03:34):
down perimeter shots and three. All right, so we are
going to give you our starting line is presented by
the Pillar Credit Union. Again, it's going to be different
for the Mohawk Warriors. Down a couple of players, and

(03:56):
Jaden Hamilton and a new injury to Aubrey got both
around of the lineup tonight. So the starters for Mohawk
five foot four senior Allison Russell, five foot three senior
Anna Russell, five foot ten sophomore Chloe Miller, five foot
ten sophomore Katie Woodland, and a freshman five foot ten
guard Sam Shock. So that is how it's going to

(04:18):
go for the Mohawk Warriors. As for the visiting Winford Royal,
is the same starting lineup as they have had pretty
much this entire season. Five foot five sophomore Caroline Sheldon,
five foot two senior Brienna Westrick, five foot two junior
Meredith Engler, five foot nine sophomore Brook from Ball, and
five foot nine sophomore Maggie Ridge so the Royals half

(04:42):
arrived from the Bucyrus area Holmes Township, Crawford County, a
trip of about nineteen miles. Their record is thirteen and
five coming off of big Tuesday Night winning Sendeica East
forty eight to twenty eight. The Mohawk Warriors in this
contest on our home floor and Sycamore with a record
of three and fourteen. Most recently playing here at home
on Monday, it was a lost Tiffan Calvert to Sandesky
Bay Conference seventy to fifty four. Both of the Knights

(05:04):
teams are members of the Northern Ten Athletic Conference. Whitford
a couple of games back of first place Mohawk eight
games back and now the running for this year. It's
conference crowd. Winford's head coaches Amy Taylor Sheldon in her
twenty ninth season, assisted by Michael Hurls and Bart buzz
Cooker at the AGC four Mohawk is that's Hossa mohalland

(05:26):
in our second season. This is in by Jessica Fritrids
and Abry mark Row. This is the second of two
scheduled regulars season meetings. In the first, Winford defeated Mohawk
at home fifty eight to forty. That was on December
of twenty eighth. Twinford players are wearing their road Royal
blue unis featuring scripted lettering gray filling white bordering. The

(05:46):
Mohawk players resting their home white designed with block lettering
red filling black bordering. So our game official tonight, Sam
de Walt, Chase Rozinger and Douglas Kreeker. And it is
Creaker in the middle and the opening tip brought to
you by the hostile University of Marion. And it is

(06:07):
won by Brook Fromball and the Winford Royals moving it
right to left from our perspective, opposite of the scores
desk to nine. So the Winford Royals, they love to
get off to a hot start, but they cannot ignore
Frombo sets a screen right side for Shelton takes a
three head scores for forty seven three of the season
to lead everybody in the end ten it's three to

(06:28):
nothing Winford. It's Chloe Miller on the catch hold. It
throws it away. It's a steal for Maggie Ridge and
the Winford Royals. Do we know that Sheldon is good?
You gets in the front ball oh on the block
there by Chloe Miller. Chloe is actually the number two
shot blocker in the N ten, averaging two blocks per game.

(06:50):
You know who's ahead of her. The one she just
blocked from Paul had two point three. So it's Winford
basketball leading it three to nothing from ball in the lane,
where can get Woodland up on the Marathon Igler and
the penetration and then throws them all away in about
pass trying to find from ball on that drive. So
each team with the nearly turnover, So it is back

(07:14):
for the Mohawk Warriors. Facing the full court pressure. Woodland
dribbles along the right side line, takes into the front court,
chased by Ridge, throws up off the glass. No, followed
by Miller doesn't get it. There's Allison Russell down. No,
she can't get it either, and Ridge out there with
the rebound for Winford and we get a tie up. Wow,
So some Warrior hands were able to get in there

(07:36):
with the possession naire row. It is Mohawk basketball, as
the Winford Royals did win the opening tip. All right,
So here we go. Alison and Russell on the baseline
has out left side through the hands of Vanna Russell
and out of bounds. So a couple of early turnovers

(07:57):
for the Mohawk Warriors. That's one thing they cannot afford.
They average seventeen and a half turnovers per game and
that is an N ten high, so gotta limit that
in this contest. So the Winford Royals with the basketball
right to left, left to arc two, Ridge on a
drive fools a defender and takes it all away for two.
So Maggie Ridge is on the board for Winford. It

(08:20):
is five to nothing Royals right back for the Mohawk Warriors,
out to and a Russell. The Woodland loads up for
three off the sile of rim off fits a rebound
and a rustle mountain passing side in traffic, and multiple
hands are on it again and a tie up. At
this time it does go to the Winford Royals, all right.

(08:56):
So here we go from ball underneath on the block
against Miller, who's the handle of it and then puts
it down on the dribble back to Ingler between the rings,
Mohawk on d trailing five to nothing, to the visiting
Winford Royals trying to get some more points. Sheldon's already
hit a three Ridge got a drive in the left

(09:18):
hand on the previous trip, Westing to the left point.
Angler los a defender crossover, dribbled, nice play inside but
then blocked inside by Shock and the Royals able to
retain it out to Eingler. Four to three. That's off
the heel and let's see ball take it out there
a nice rebound for Anna Russell to Allison Russell. Oh
my goshould we get a blocking vowl. It is on

(09:44):
pre westering. So Brianna has picked up the first vowl
of this game for the Winford Royals. So back for
Mohawk down five to nothing off the glass right siding.
Good for an a rustle. So in the first core
of this game for the Mohawk, Warriors straightly get five

(10:04):
to two. So it's back for Engler and the Royals.
From ball left side, Westoc off the chest of Ridge,
Becca High to Sheldon, who had a three on the
other side. Tries it here on the left side. It's
up parted through carollied Sheldon. That's number forty eight of

(10:25):
three's this season to lead the N ten and she
had simp the one last season to lead everybody. She
is so good at that and then we get the
ball out of bounds by Allison Russell with Mohawk trailing,
get eight to two with four fifty two remaining in
this first quarter. All right, So here we go Winford

(10:49):
Royals with the ball ridge with at the top weave
threw and then we get some hands in there and
then tie up. So Sam Shack, who is in the
star lineup due to the injuries specifically with Humbrey Gudfrey,
does a nice job to induce that turnover. So it
is Mohawk with the ball trailing, get eight to two.

(11:12):
Allison Russell on the drive baseline sent it to shock,
pull up right, arm too strong, Chloe Miller with the
full low and it's cood. Chloe Miller with the rebound
and deuce. So within four is Mohawk Winford with an
eight to four lead from ball in three point land
that is not her area? Did She goes down low

(11:32):
against the ball, throws up on the glass do and
the rebound for shock and it's back for the Mohawk
Warriors down eight to four with four or five to
go off of the foot, but Allison is able to
recover it and puts down the driple here against westc
who's excellent on the ball defender inside the Chloe Miller
base line shot. It hits well. Chloe Miller has been

(11:55):
called upon to step up on her offense, especially with
some injuries, and she is delivering here. Four points for Chloe.
As Mohawk is within two Winford basketball, Sheldon goes around
the front ball screen another three as time does not
go off the heel at a rebound for Woodland for Mohawk,
the under direction to shock into the front court and

(12:18):
lift sign out Lesson Russell floats it into Chloe Miller
power move off the glass. Not this time follow Faranna
doesn't get it. Chloe goes for another rebound and out
with it. The under direction Carol Lede Sheldon, and Caroline
just keeps on. Colling throws it up and no good
saves the baseline. The front ball up to Wingler, back
to Sheldon. She just gotta keep on firing that three

(12:38):
year baby. Three threes for Carollive Sheldon. It's eleven to
six Winford with three to one to go in the
first quarter. Mohawk calls for the question robo credit Union
time oounts and we'll take the break. So glad you're
with us for our girls. High school basketball came in
a week. I'm matter ninety five nine percent of my
Matthew's on the achro all right. Here we all are

(13:01):
in progress, eleven to six Winford with the lead on
Mohawk as the Warriors sound of the time. Mound lamp
doesn't go for Anna Russell out to Chloe Miller, who's
made a couple of fuel goals so far in this game,
and Woodland tries to save it baseline, but that doesn't
work out, and that's the third turnover and they go
to England in transition lamp, it's good for Meredith, So

(13:21):
first score this game from Meredith England. It's thirteen to
six Winford to thirty three to go in the first corner,
and we get a whistle and a blocking foul and
it is charged to Maggie Ridge, a sophomore for the
Winford Royals in earlier start to this game with the

(13:44):
JV being reduced to two corners. So here we are
to twenty eight to go in the first quarter, thirteen
to six went Ford with the lead Mohawk with the ball,
Woodland almost losing the ball, was able to recover here
left side drives to the baseline left corner of the
Alison Russells and the Miller lamp is gone. Chloe Miller,

(14:06):
she is the one who is taking charge for the
Mohawk Warriors. She's got six points. It's thirteen two eight
went Ford with the leading the ball in the other
direction from ball three point Land. She never shoots it
out there, western up to Sheldon who does. And this
is what doesn't go. She's already made three threes, but
this time the ball heads out of bounds baseline after

(14:27):
hitting the rim. It is buhawk basketball. One fifty five
to go in the first thirteen to eight is the score.
O'hawk trailing Woodland with the dribble all getting some double
team and a blocked Oh no uh the ball just

(14:48):
out of bound is okay. So I had a little
bit of an obstruction there with the audience and seeing that.
But the veteran official Douglas Creeker saw it. They called it.
So bree Restoring gets a rest here and she is
replaced by five ft four sophomore Ali Liming. So it

(15:11):
does win for basketball. Lining has it at the top
right side to Sheldon working on Anna Russell feeds it
into front ball and puts it up strong right side no,
and the foul is called Chloe Miller. So first personal
on Chloe, and Chloe has done an excellent job in

(15:31):
improving on not fouling so much. In fact, she was
pulled from the starting lineup for a couple of games.
I was talking to coach maholland as the first free
throw for fron Ball is up and good because coach
Mallan was like, hey, you know, we don't have such
a deep team. We need Chloe available late in the game.
So she was putting her off the bench. But with

(15:52):
the injuries, she's got to start. Second free throw no
good for from ball, but often's a rebound for Meredith Thinkler.
With Winford leading at fourteen to eight, Liming along two
it scores. Note Liming off the bench has her first
who makes it sixteen to eight O Winford right back
for the Mohawk Warriors and I rustle off a double

(16:15):
team and then she stepped out of bounds as well.
This time the official Sam de Waltz on it. So
the Mohawk Warriors they gotta wash their feet on the sideline.
That's the second straight time out of bounds like that,
So Maggie Ridge gets the break for the Winford Royals,
replaced by the freshman Jenna Filiator, five foot ten player.

(16:36):
They've got some JV work in again. The JV was
reduced to only two corners, but nonetheless Affiliators scored nine
points in that short period of time. Here we go
liming up high to from ball to Sheldon, back to
the right side Angler and the three is up from
Meredith doesn't go inside the rim rebound, taking off the
bounds for Katie Woodland. Mohawk ball down sixteen to eight

(16:59):
before tenty seconds left in the first corner. Woodland inside
takes them strong and gets the call. Two free throws
upcoming for Katie Beard of Thingler picking up the Winford personal.
That's the first foul on Engler, so Woodland at the line.

(17:22):
First one goes for Katie Woodland. Woodland is the leading
scorer for this team, averaging ten points per game. And
by the way, Katie's also the top free throw shooter
in the N ten at eighty six percent. That's a
part of being able to get those points up there.
Some are Hubert has just checked in for the Mohawk Warriors.

(17:45):
A second free throw goes for Woodland, so yep, doing
what she normally does right there, and it's within six
Liming misfires left corner three for Winford, up sixteen to
ten and to readbound weeks side and a Russell for
the Mohawk Warriors can pull them within a possession if
they get three on this trip. Allison Russell over to

(18:07):
Anna Russell, guarded by Sheldon on the crossover, falls down,
Bulls lose Westterrick is there to pick it up for
Whitford ahead to Cairo line. Nine seconds left in the
first long pass down low from ball, hesitates, throws up
off the glass, doesn't go and the rebound for Woodland.
Two seconds left in this first quarter. She's gonna launch
it and that's well short, all right. Well, at the

(18:30):
end of one on our Wilson Tires scoreboard, it is
Whitford sixteen, Mohawk tim We'll be back for the start
of the second quarter. HITSR. Matthews Hondak for Crimins High
School Basketball Game of the Week, Gone Magic ninety five
to nine and die Heart Radio as we bring you back.
The Mohawk Warriors able to get the ball inside to
Chloe Miller. She missed the first at tim but got

(18:51):
the ball right back and fouled on the way up
by Maggie Ridge. So Chloe Miller to the free throw line.
So Chloe Miller knocks down that first free throw. Cos
Maholland said that early on Chloe is just working through

(19:12):
some of the confidence, but now, yes, she has definitely
stepped up her game. A second free throw that does
not go there for Miller, so one or two on
that trip. She's got a seven points sixteen to eleven
from ball the other direction, and she scores her first
field goal, making it eighteen to eleven for Winford. Right

(19:34):
back to the Mohawk Warriors. Left to right, Hubbard going
some trouble and loses it to England. It is back
to the Winford Royals from ball in deep position, up
bought the glass and good too quick hoops for Brooke
from Paul, giving Winford a twenty to eleven lead five
points four from ball, and then right at midcord we

(19:57):
do get a whistle in a fowl on Winford's are
aligned Sheldon, so first personnel on Sheldon. Two team fouls
Winford in the second quarter. So Mohawk basketball against a

(20:17):
double team wouldn't enable to dribble away from some pressure.
The left side outless and Russell crosses over and Laide
Oh but blocked by from ball. The intens leading Shopbalker
two point three game in a wrestling match between Sheldon
and Miller, and we get to tie up and with
the possession narrow, it does go back to the Winford Royals.

(20:38):
So Winford leading it twenty two eleven, was six thirty
five to go until halftime. Winford Royals still with some
hope for share of the Intent title, but they need
Colonel Crawford to lose tonight for that to happen, for
the to still have a chance. I should say still

(20:59):
other things will have to go and play. We'll talk
about that later. And our Reinsurance Agency halftime show here
comes with three for Engler friend I ar No offers
a rebound west trick, takes up with the right hand
that's off the lid. There's from ball. The follow and
she gets hit has Brook from ball ready to go
back to the free throw line. Personal appeers up be

(21:21):
on Alison and Russell, Oh, I beg you, Brian's on
Summer Hubbard all right, so Hubbard so their first personal
so from ball at the line. Oh, there's another myss
there for Brook from ball one of three from the
line so far in this game, and she's an eighty

(21:43):
percent free throw shooter. Second a free throw that one's
good gives Winford a ten point lead. It's twenty one
to two, eleven six points from Brook from ball, who
works with the basketball Winland into the front cord. Some
help gets it up to Allison and Russell calling for
it as Hoppard takes it at the left, Dark puts

(22:04):
up the long three off the heel. Fight for the
rebound down low won by Allison. Russell's Mohawkey's possession and
hasn't been high for Woodland, but tracks it down, gets
away from Mingler to the right point to Hoppert. One
on one, Niggin's filiator fires it inside, afflected by Sheldon,
and that's a steal. Sheldon averages three steals per game.
Long pass ahead, but that one knocked out of bound

(22:25):
by Woodland is Sheldon. She is one who will push
the issue on that for sure. So Sam shocked back
on for Mohawk, replacing Hobbard, and Nali Liming returned for
Winford as Bree Westford gets the break, so liming on
the inbound in front of the Mohawk bench up high

(22:47):
to Engler for three straight away off the heel from
ball climbs the ladder off it's the rebound turn around
left hand. No gets it right back and she couns
shoot it with either hand, this time with the right hand.
And that's too strong, and let's see. They fight for
the ball down low and then winds up with Alison
Russell witho Mohawk trailing get twenty one to two eleven,
cross over her left side. Sheldon gets her hand on it,

(23:09):
but Mohawuky's possession of Anna Russell underneath against liming back
to Allison Russell screen set by Woodland as Atlesson discontinues
to dribble her around the whole court out to Miller baseline,
this one off the line, the offensive rebound for shock
and Monkey's possession. Oh and almost still a my angler
knocked out of bound shelf of Mohawk. All right, well

(23:34):
that on my n official cown ninth turnover for the
Mohawk Warriors. Back forth the Winford Royals leading in twenty
one to two eleven from ball back to the basket
left arc right on her as Chloe Miller Sheldon three.
My goodness, a perfect shot for Caroline Sheldon her four

(23:58):
to three of this game. She's got twelve points, half
of the Winford tally. Leading at twenty four to two eleven,
shot down low Miller puts it up off the glass.
No gets another try that's off the mark, inflected out
of bounds by Winford's affiliator, so it does stay with
the Mohawk Warriors. Has Brie Westrick back onto the floor

(24:19):
for Winford to replace jennaffiliator. All right, So Mohawk with
the ball inbounding it up Hie to Anna Russell guarded
by Engler before seventeen to go in the second quarter,
right side to Woodland in two Miller at the right arc,
rippig at it. Igler gets her hands on it and

(24:41):
we get another tie up. It's time possession arrow balls
days with the Mohawk Warriors. That's a heck of an
effort there by Meredith Engler. She is also a depth
that's stealing the basketball. So baseline inbound Allison Russell right
side Woodland for Mohawk trailing at twenty four to eleven

(25:03):
as we head toward the four minutes mark right side
and a Russell four three off the backboard. Officer of
rebound Millard that doesn't go. That officer rebound Allison Russell
and looks like we had a foul on the floor
before the shot. Shot didn't go fout on the floor.

(25:23):
So it is on Bree Westreak second personal on Briganna
five two senior inbound baseline Allison Russell to her sister
Anna Russell off the glass does it go and lighting
under there for the rebound for Winford in a reach
in and a tie up in a bunch of tie

(25:44):
up calls here possession narrow Winford all right, So Meredith
Engler walking the ball up right to Leftford of Winford
or Royals right point two. Sheldon crosses over between the
legs back out to westric In's the down cut off

(26:07):
there by Allison Russell stops the dribble from ball, come
up their shot and we get a timeout call and
it is a thirty second question fortal credit union timeout
that Namy Taylor Sheldon wants for Winford Royals with three
twenty six to go in the second quarter and Winford
leading it twenty four to be eleven. Then coming up

(26:32):
of our reading Turnt Agency halftime show will be checking
out other scores in the end ten, the critical one
being between Colonel Crawford and Seneca East. As Colonel Crawford
wins the game, the race for the inten title ends.
The Eagles will be the outright champions, but if Seneca
East wins that game, the race remains alive with each

(26:53):
of those teams with one more conference contest remaining, and
the possibility if after that, if both of them lose,
these Winford Royals could have an opportunity for a share.
Same for the Carry Blue Devils were playing the Buckeye
Central Buck hast tonight all right him bound for the
Winford Royals to liming. Sheldon takes it in the front
ball pump, fake nice step through it, puts it in

(27:14):
with the left hand. That is fantastic footwork for Brook
from Paul. She's got eight points. It's twenty six to
eleven Winford. So right back for the Mohawk Warriors. Left
to right we get a three loaded ap peer Elisa
the ruffle and she's able to knock it down. That

(27:38):
makes it twenty nine to eleven Winford. Still a big
I beg you rich twenty six or fourteen. Yeah, so
there was a little switchero on the scoreboard that fooled me.
I should have been on top of that. But oh

(28:00):
and then we get a offensive fowl called Meredith Engler
for the Winford Royals. That's the second personal on the
five to two junior. So left to right come the
Mohawk Warriors with Katie Woodland sends to the left arc

(28:20):
Miller Sideline or Russell, and then Anna Russell up to
Katie Woodland takes a right at Angler to the right
side Allison and Russell into the Basketbaunce pass through the
thicket and stolen front ball and sent it out to
Caroline Sheldon. Will verd Royals with the ball right to left,
find from ball and score in transition and the one

(28:44):
the finder Caroline Sheldon, who leads the intent and assists
at four point eight per game. It's a twenty eight
to fourteen lead for Winford Royals and ten points for
front Ball and the ball deflected out of bounds by
the Mohawk Warriors. So things are really starting to unravel
for the home team. As Meredith Ingler goes out of

(29:06):
the game, replaced by Jenna Fhiley Yate from Mohawk. If
you're just joining us down two players due to injury,
there's a good Sheldon on the drive inside. This is
again strong defense there for am Shock, who's into the
starting lineup due to one of the injuries, and the

(29:26):
ball affected out of bounce by Sheldon knocks it a
way from the ball handler does stay with the Mohawk
Warrior score twenty eight to fourteen. Winford leeds as Summer
Hommer does on for Chloe Miller. Chloe goes to the
bench with her seven points and bound Hobbert slips off
her hands, been able to recover it back up to

(29:47):
Anna Russell, but Mohawk trailing get twenty eight to fourteen,
and when thirty seven to go until halftime, crossover dribble
Woodland step back passes out of it left side, Alison
Russell working online around the screen by Shock to the
left corner and the ball deflected out of mountains stays
with the Mohawk Warriors. But good effort there for from

(30:08):
ball twenty eight to fourteen, Mohawk trails. What's twenty found
to go until halftime and the Russell at the left point,
takes it inside, carves through, come off by Sheldon looking
for some help put it a book fan. We get
a three second violation. Yeah the official Sam de Walt,

(30:35):
he was counting unfortunately for the Mohawk Warriors at twelve
turnovers turnovers this season being tricked sponsored by the Premiere
Optometry Group. We appreciate that. So Westric in the lane
for the Winford Royals leading in twenty eight to fourteen.
Winford might hold for the final shot of the half,

(30:56):
or maybe not. Westric on the driving side, good tea
and in front ball one up with it and it
dances off the live and a rebound for Woodland. Then
we get a vowel underneath as Woodman protects the ball.
So Welly Lyming picks up the personal for the Royals.
So mar Lease comes on for Mohawk along with Chloe Miller.

(31:23):
Is there six six Warriors out there? And finally Sam
Shock goes out of the game, and now we got
Hubbard coming back onto the floors and there are six
Warriors on again. Oh my gosh. So Hubbard comes out
and then shot comes back. That's the far home my word,

(31:47):
this can happen when you've got a lot of younger
players who are just not used to playing varsity. As
we get the first free throws, it goes for Katie Woodland.
It's just a learning experience and if you're just joining us.
Aubrey Godfrey out of the lineup. She got injured last
night in practice, so she is with crutches. Second free
throw goes through for Katie Woodland. So Oldhawk Warriors. They're

(32:10):
on track now. They got five players out there. That's good,
but trailing. Get twenty eight to sixteen, thirty eight seconds
remaining until halftime. Shelton with the ball a pie from
the Winford Royal. She's made four threes in this first half.
The from ball back to Sheldon with twenty eight seconds
remaining until halftime. From ball gets it right back, goes

(32:31):
to a double team gets up to Sheldon at the
mid court logo and a rustle with the close D
so Shelton's gotta move. Seventeen seconds remaining until halftime. Went
Ford leading in twenty eight to sixteen from ball with
the right side back over to Sheldon, crosses over to
the left hand screen set by Western. Shelton continues towards
the base line seven seconds pulls up base line shot
doesn't go rebound offensively for mar release Mohawk ball one

(32:54):
second left, and this time Woodland decides not to heap it.
So that'll do it for the first half a play.
So on our Wilson Tires scoreboard, it is Winford twenty
eight Mohawk sixty. All right, Well take the break and
we'll come back for our Reno Trient's Agency halftime show.

(33:15):
I'm so glad that you have decided to join us
tonight for Matthews Honaker Girls High School Basketball Game of
the Week. I'm Magic ninety five to nine and die
Heart Radio High School Basketball Magic ninety five nine. Here
in scam where where the Mohawk Warriors are trailing Winford
Royals twenty eight to sixteen Mohawk Warriors in a situation

(33:45):
in which they're just trying to get some players out
there who are able to do it. Unfortunately, with the
injury situation makes it really tough. We already knew about
Jaden Hamilton back injury. This is her fifth game miss,
so she stays with the team, appears of being good spirits.

(34:07):
But yeah, Audrey Godfrey unfortunately staining an injury last night
in practice and the athletic trainer, Tyson Deppennetty just goes
over there to Aubrey and checks on her right leg,
props it up on one of the cheers. Does she

(34:31):
has been moving with the aid of crutches. The injury
is never easy, and especially when you've got a team
that is not particularly deep, so a number of younger
players having to step out there and perform. As a result,

(34:55):
the first start in the career of the freshman Sam
Shock so shocked out there with Chloe Miller, Allison Russell
and a Russell and Katie Woodland and the Winford Royals

(35:15):
coming back on to the floor with Caroline Sheldon, Meredith
Engler Brook from ball, Maggie Ridge and Bree Westrick all
right Ton to play. Here we go. Mohawks starts up
with the ball right to left from our perspective, opposite
the scores that straightly get twenty eight to sixteen starting
off the third quarter, pull up on the left side.

(35:36):
That does not go for Mara Lease, so he actually
Lease is the one who's starting here in the second
half and the lamb goes for Brook from ball. She's
gone twelve as the Winford Royals need at thirty to sixty.
They just keep on dealing to the Mohawk Warriers. Back
for w the Winford Royals, I should say with from

(35:59):
ball back for the Mohawk Warriors. That's what I mean
to say. Samara Lease with it a pie. She didn't
start the game. Yeah, it was the first start for
sam Shock trying to get some moving parts here. We
get a three up here in a rushole. It's God
and he is able to knock it down her first

(36:22):
three of the game and pulls Mohawk two within eleven.
Well done there for Anna. So back for the Winford Royals.
Westerc to the right point to Sheldon and Lise has
to get out on her in three point Land and
down to ride on the drive on a three second
call on the Winford Royals. One was called earlier on

(36:50):
Mohawk in this time called on Winford. That's the third turnover.
Four of the Royals go back for Mohawk thirty two
nineteen treally Chloy Miller, who was real strong in that
first quarter. See if she could get back going again
Woodland on the drive, cut off by Western up high

(37:10):
least three in and out and the rebound by Ridge
and a good box out by our teammate from ball
to allow Ridge to get over there. Winford ball leading
get thirty two to nineteen. Sheldon has it at the
right point, sent it to the left point to Ridge,
fars it down low till Western puts up with the layup.
That is no good off of the rebound Engler and
we get a tie up as the Royals and Warriors

(37:33):
battling for the ball down low. So with the Possessa
arrow it does stay with the Winford Royals leading get
thirty to nineteen with six h nine to go. In
the third, England on a baseline then bound inside from ball,
jump pass out Sheldon three. It's in and out. In
the rebound Allison Russell Mohawk Warriors are right to left

(37:55):
down eleven, kick out left side to her sister and
our Russell to the top. Woodland in the triple threat
on the drive, takes it all the way, puts them
off the glass, does it go, gets off in the
rebound dried again. It's good for Katie wo so she's
got six points, so pulls her team to within nine.

(38:21):
It is thirty two twenty one Winford with the leading
ball five and a half to go in the third Ridge, Oh,
she shuffled her feet there, she sure did end before
the pass just a bit and decisive there for Maggie.
So it is back forth the Mohawk Warriors. So the
Warriors hanging tough right here the woodland into the front

(38:42):
cour to Allison Russell crossover dribble. It gets Ridge outside
to Anna Russell between her rings and more release sends
her right corner too. N a. Russell turns the corner
cut off by Sheldon out to Allison in on the
drive in the reach in Maggie Ridge, so that personal

(39:05):
on Ridge for the Winford Royals. That is her third
foul as Alison and Russell to the free throw lie
five to four senior first free throw that does not
go for Allison and just six points per game. Second

(39:31):
free throw and that one's in the now ball off
at the rebound Miller but then loses it too from
ball and then goes out of bounds off Miller back
to the Winford Royals and from ball with the score
remaining thirty to twenty one. All right, So the Mohawk

(39:52):
Warriors on d Winford Royals with the ball under five
to play in the third from ball. Pull the ballo,
Choe Miller. Well, then they called a foul Ooh there's
a lot of ball on that one. All right, Well,
hands on hips there for Chloe. She doesn't say anything.

(40:16):
Second personal on Chloe Miller from ball at the free
throw line that dribbles out the front ball. Overall playing
a fine basketball game, but in eighty percent free throw shooter.
That's her third miss. Second free throw. That one's good.
So she is three of six from the free throw
line in this one. So it's a thirty twenty one

(40:39):
lead for Winford. Mohawk with the ball, all the high
pass winds up with gillyg mar Leise Oh actually said, wow,
that is a player from the pass. Yeah, we remember
Mara Gilly see Barrow. Yeah, mar Leise is the one
who's playing right now. Oh, we get a steal here

(41:00):
for Caroline Sheldon, her second steal. She averages three steals
per game. The Winford Royals with the ball thirty one
to twenty one. As we get a good defense for
lease back up to the left side, bind them back
with the dribble. Angler to the left side to ridge

(41:24):
off a jab takes it at least to the right side.
To Sheldon. She is not gun shy, and that's the
reason that she leads the in ten and threes, along
with her excellent shooting ability. And here's Ingler on a
dribble one on one high right side against the thousand
and Russell to westerc back to Sheldon, again again to Woodland.

(41:44):
With Winford leading at thirty one to twenty one and
the three Engler too strong left base line offers the
rebound of front ball up to Westric, who dribbles out
of traffic up Hie the shelter straight away three allus
one's too strong, another offensive rebound for front ball, surrounded
and the regent fowl. Sam de Walt is there to

(42:05):
call the personal Here's beyond Marley's goes Aln Allison and Russell.
So Aley Lyming comes on for Maggie Ridge for Winford,
so Wingler're on the baseline inbound two frontball and the
libdoll pops out. She gets her offensive rebound out to

(42:28):
Westric with Winford leading at thirty one twenty one with
three twenty two to go, Western clip side drive that
one one to a front ball, but out of bounds
to the baseline. The Boha gets the ball back trailing
in thirty one twenty one, so Sam Shock making her
first appearance of this third quarter to replace them Lease

(42:51):
Shak who did get the start in this contest for
Aubrey Goffried who is injured. So right to left Hawk
Warriors with the ball. Westric the defensil on this deal
for Engler, she averages two per game cruises in with
the right hand layup, So that's the second bucket for
Meredith Engler. She's got for It's thirty three twenty one.

(43:14):
Then with three minutes to go into third we get
a full quest Federal Credit Union timeout called by the
Mohawk Warriors and we'll take the break as well. Thirty
three twenty one Winford leeds at Mohawk for Matthews Tondafert
Girls High schol Basketball Game of the Week. I'm mat
think ninety five to nine and iHeartRadio as we bring
you back. Brienna Westrick with the score and found for

(43:34):
the Winford Royals, and then the free throw line misses
there rebound Chloe Miller. Winford's lead is now thirty five
twenty one Mohawk with the ball right to left to
thirty seven to go in the third quarter, Woodlands around
the end could use some help find Dallas, and Russell
brings to the bucket block by from bonafoul. Yeah, I
think she did get some arm on that one. The official,

(44:00):
Chase ros Singer was right there in position to make
that call. So with all the hard work that from
Ball puts in on deepense, that's just her first battle
of this game. So here is Atlason Russell at the
free throw line, and she cashes in on that first one.

(44:22):
So Maggie Ridge does replace the brook from Ball for
the Winford or oils as we get a second free
throw for Alison Russell and well, that one's off the
heel in the rebound Westing for Winford, the leading at
thirty five to twenty two. Sheldon takes a strong inside
but cut on by a double team of Pie Angler
on the penetration, steps through and gets the call. Meredith Ingviler.

(44:47):
She is a clever ball handler. So Sam Shack picks
up the personal for the Mohawk Warriors. So England at
the free throw line, the junior point guard her third
straight season as the starter for his team. In the
first free throw does not go for Engler. That's an

(45:10):
affiliator back onto the floor, the freshman for Winford, replacing
senior Bree Westrook. Second free throw England that doesn't go either,
and there's Colley Miller with another rebel so right back
for the Mohawk Warriors down thirty five to twenty two,

(45:30):
with two OHI to go. Oh we get to steal
here for Engler, her second steal. She averages two of
those per game. Into the front court stopped by Woodland.
Hold the Sheldon baseline move, turns the corner pass picked
off by Shock, So Mohawk basketball right to left, thirty
five twenty two Woodland now and then we get to

(45:55):
steal here for Shelmon. So Winford royals with the basketball,
so you have to turn over starting to pick up
her both of these teams, and it's Winford with a
thirty five twenty two lead with one twenty eight to go.
On the third right arc, here comes Angler liftend and
she gets the call Meredith Thinler to go to the

(46:16):
free throw line. So Chloe Miller picking up her third
personal for Mohawk. So Engler, after missing a couple of
free throws, back into line. This time she's able to
make it. It's more like it for Meredith, who's a

(46:39):
fifty eight percent free throw shooter, or four of the
Royals makes the score thirty six to twenty two. As
Maredith goes for her sixth point, it's there, so Windler
goes out of the game. She's got six points. She's
replaced by Brooke from Ball who has thirteen. Winford leads

(47:03):
at thirty seven twenty two Mohawk with the ball on
then reaching it there is ridge. It comes up with
the steel, so here comes winter Ball and lighting unable
to save it from going out of bounds at the baseline,
so it is back for the Mohawk Warriors. Marra Lese
on for Sam's Shaw so Lease with Alison Russell, Anna Russell,

(47:28):
Katy Woodland and Chloe Miller Mohawk trailing thirty seven twenty
two with one oh two to go in the third
on the pass will go through the legs a fan
of Russell down of bounds at the sideline. So yeah,
this is just really tough. Yeah, so we're looking at
sixteen turnovers. Summer Hubbard heads on to the floor for

(47:54):
Mohawk as Katy Woodland will get a break with fifty
seven seconds remaining, in this third quarter, So England with
the ball left the right for the Winford Royals out
there with front ball affiliator Ridge and Liming. Liming calls
Ford receives it at the left point. Since a cross
court affiliator, it double gets a double team down to

(48:16):
Ridge outs past left side from ball. Missus with the
left hand goes for the ball, able to get it
outside to Liming and then it's loose and a whistle
want to tie up and with a possession narrow it
is Mohawk basketball. With thirty three seconds remaining in this

(48:41):
third quarter, the Mohauk with the ball thirty seven to
twenty two and we get Liming on our reach. Hubbard
dribbles around screen set by Anna Russell, floats it in Miller.
She lost it to front ball and then is back
for the Winford Royals. The fifteen seconds left in the
third Liming has the right side to the top Angler,

(49:05):
left side affiliator scented lining inside from ball. The glass snow,
but she gets the call and that is the ball
movement and un selfishness of the Royals. Omar Lease has
picked up her second personal for Little Warriors. Don't pardon
me that's the first foul for lease. Pardon me one

(49:27):
foul for lease. So there's a brook from ball at
the line and it goes. So now she's on track
going for her fifteenth point. Oh but that one does
not go thirty to twenty two? Is we get the

(49:48):
fleeing that's off the bard. So at the end of
three odur wilt entire scoreboard. It is a win for
thirty eighth Mohawk twenty two. We'll be back for the
fourth quarter for Matthew's Onnager Girls high school basketball game
of the Week. I'm betting ninety five to nine and
I radio Yes high school basket ball benchic is ninety
five nine. Here at the Mohawks aren't off the fourth

(50:11):
quarter thirty eight to twenty two, Winford with the lead,
and just looking elsewhere, it appears that Colonel Crawford is
leading Sineg East twenty to nine after one quarter. Again,
if Colonel Crawford wins that game, the race is over.
There'll be the Inten champions, all right. So let's start

(50:35):
off the fourth quarter here Winford Royals with the ball
in the thirty eight to twenty two lead. For Westbrook
has a left side to Caroline Sheldon, Maggie Ridgebrook from
ball and Meredith Engler also on the floor, So the
starting unit for the Royals and a spin move inside.
On a blog by Chloe Miller, she has gotten really
good at this third block for Chloe, Let's see the

(50:56):
Mohak Warriors win the ball thirty eight to twenty two,
trailing a pie to Alison Russell All she put down
the dribble a second time. That's clearly a double dribble.
Well it is back to the Winford Royals. Meredith Fingler

(51:22):
brings it up left to right And when you think
about all these seams, yeah, they're going to be thinking
about tournament time because this Sunday we're gonna get the
official word on the draw for Sectionals and District Gold
and Front Ball throws the ball away to Alison and
Russell Bohog ball trailing at thirty eight twenty two and

(51:43):
at least for three skip thems the rim and the
rebound winds up with Shelton left to right for the
Winford Royals. Off the hesitation sends to Jest, pass up
pie to Engler, Limp point Front Ball the sideline to Westwood,
guarded by Woodland picks up the dribble to side the
Sheldon crosses over to the right hand in the back pedal,

(52:04):
balled around by Marra Lee's for the Mohawk Warriors, goes
back to westernk left arc Engler turnaround shot off the heel,
now rebound Miller. It's they head to Alison Russell for
the Mohawk Warriors. Between the rings and the right point
Katie Woodland and on dee Is Angler. Woodland puts down

(52:25):
to dribble, sends it out to Lease, goes around the screen. Woodland,
Lease pull up block and foul from behind it a
piers by Maggie Ridge. The fourth personal on Maggie Ridge.

(52:45):
There you go. Marley set the free throw line for
the Mohawk Warriors. First one is up and does not
go for Mara the gen affiliator freshman onto the floor,
replacing Maggie Ridge with those four fowls free throw for Lease.

(53:06):
Oh that doesn't go either and a rebound four affiliator.
So Wentford with the basketball left to right, leading at
thirty eight to twenty two. As we head toward the
six minutes mark of the fourth corner Westrict, Sheldon up
and loses the ball to Mohawk in transition lease all
good d. There By Engler is able to knock it

(53:28):
off of Mohawk. Wow, smart play by Meredith Engler. Gouge
is the ball right back to the Winford Royals up
thirty eight to twenty two. It's a couple of minutes
gone by in this fourth quarter. Winford Royals are we
thinking about postseason play Shelton against a double out the

(53:53):
Western Whistle, and it does appear that the head coach,
Jamie Taylor Shelton wants to talk things over with her Royals.
It's a full quest frontal credit union time now with
five thirty nine to go on the fourth so we'll
take the break on the Wilson Tires score boards. Thirty
eight to twenty two Whitford Leeds at Mohawk the GROLs
High schol Basketball game of the Week. I'm bating ninety
five to nine AD no ihurt radio. As we head

(54:15):
toward the five minute mark and Mohawk killed Winford Royals
with a thirty eight to twenty two lead on the
hometown Warriors, Caroline Sheldon sends it down load to her
teammate Brook from ball. The sophomores they are strong. All
are working the ball back around the perimeter western to England.
Buick handles sends inside, bounced past from ball, looses on

(54:35):
the way up, and it is back for the Mohawk
Warriors right to left, four thirty nine to go on
the fourth see if they can find some offense here
Woodland around the corner left side. Anna Russell takes a
one on one against Sheldon to the right side. Allison
Russell working here on England, jump past to an a

(54:56):
four to three off the bark An affiliator with a
bucks out just looks the ball bounds left corner, so
it's back to the Winford roy Holes. Three Western goals
out of the game, replaced by Ali Liming. So Winford
basketball Mohawks showing some full court pressure. Yere ALERD two

(55:16):
from ball still in the back court, passes across the
timeline to Sheldon into the front court, tracked defensively by
and a Rushole up to England to let point to
Liming back up to England at the top of the key.
Woodland on d reaching Engler puts down to dribble to
the right side, looking for a little bit of movement
perhaps under four to play in the fourth quarter to

(55:37):
Sheldon the right port overhead, passed, download from ball, blood
from behind by Miller. Chloe Miller getting it done out
to Liming four three. She drates it and she fell down.
I think that coach Jamie Taylor Sheldon, who was talking
to officials, ill, why is there not a foul on that?
But a great shot by lining forty one to twenty
two the other direction four Woodland, no goods and yanking

(56:00):
out the rebound from ball. It is Winford ball left
and right. They had to Shelton on the crossover as
it takes past left side lining a pie to Engler
back to the right side of Affiliator off a ball
fake and so it's a baseline caloed by Willing. Gets
out to Liming this time doesn't shoot it in Steake
goes Affiliator jumper and off the mark from ball. The

(56:21):
offens the rebound, but a foul called and it appears
to be on Caroline Shelton for Winford three twelve to
go in the fourth corner mohawk with the ball down
forty one to twenty two. Warriors doing the best that

(56:42):
they can down with a couple of players in Jaden,
Hamilton and Opery got free a pie to and a
Russell takes it out to the lining help defense there
from England to the right point Widland pull up a
right arc off the backboard offensive rebound Alice of Russell
who used his little elbow to get away from Sheldon
and how to get I'll send that again to Lease

(57:03):
for three, so Ma Leise, Yeah, get to know the
name nice three right there for Elease. So it is
forty one five on the left side here climbing fat
line extended Sheldon step back three off the lid and

(57:28):
Miller unable to crosp the repound for Mohawk got a
bounds off her left hand. So Jennifileator returns to the
bench for the Winter Royals, replaced by the starter Mangie Ridge.
Forty five is the count you're aligned Sheldon on the
inbound for the Royals left side to England to the

(57:49):
top to lining back to Sheldon for three. Here it
hits her fifth five threes forty en ten leading three
point shooter Carol Sheldon, she's got fifteen points. It's forty
four and twenty five and Sheldon goes for the steal
and let's see the tie up is cold and with

(58:11):
the possession arrow, Mohawk keeps it with two little six
ago in a fourth my release Onny and bound into
the back cord too. Woodland across the timeline series of
crossover dribbles left side, Lease on the ball, fake a

(58:34):
pie to and I wrestle back to lease Garden closely
by Ridge, who has the four fouls shot no good
follow off the mark Ridge there for the rebounder. She
loses on a tie up to Lease and with the
possession arrow, it is Winford basketball one forty three to
go in the fourth, that's Winford with it the lead

(58:54):
again forty four to twenty five. I see if the
Winford rioles aside to work some clock here, Liming hasn't
left foul line extended, takes a top another three, Oh baby,

(59:15):
the second three for Ally Liming, the sophomore. She's got
eight points. She is a fabulous shooter. There's no doubt
about it. She's got to be accounted for. It's forty
seven to twenty five right side here for Woodlands, around
this green for Alison Russell. Woodland her three in and
out and the rebound Ridge and the reaching appears to

(59:40):
be Chloe Miller that time. So Chloe picking up her
fourth foul, So Caroline Sheldon and Meredith Engler they are

(01:00:01):
pulled from the game. Megan Young is on for the
Winford Royals, her first time into this varsity contest. She
played in the JV Liming. All her confidence is on
a major hide is three doesn't go on the right
side the old heat check that time didn't go for
a lining. Its back for the Mohawk Warriors. Forty three

(01:00:24):
seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Royals gonna win
this one on the road in Sycamore as affiliador gets
it over to Liming and let's see, you're gonna hear
and we get a tie up. All right, So back

(01:00:50):
to the Winford Royals. From ball goes out of the
game with her fourteen points. Tonight well done, she averages
a double double. Quite a player. And Allison Brewer, five
to five freshman, is on for the Royals and looks

(01:01:17):
like the Royals is just going to pass the ball around.
If Mohawk doesn't foul, game's gonna end like this. It'll
be win number four hundred and nine in the career
of Amy Taylor. Sheldon got to that four hundred mark
this season and the win versus bu Cyrus the two
seconds left and that is a ball game. It is over.

(01:01:38):
The Winford Royals come into Sycamore and defeat the Mohawk
Warriors forty seven to twenty five. So the Winford Royals
improved to fourteen can five. Mohawk falls to three and fifteen. Well,

(01:02:06):
we'll take a little break. We'll come back for some
post game talk. See what some other scores for going
on in the intent, especially that Colonel Crufford sitting East
game again. If Colonel Crufford wins that game, Eagles will
be in ten champions again. Final score forty seven to
twenty five. Win for defeats Mohawk For Matthews'naker Gros High
School Basketball Game of the Week, I'm Mattic ninety five
