Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on Demand. It's Tony Braxton
with Breathe Again, and it is six oh five. Good morning.
It is The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. It's
April second, twenty twenty five. Welcome to your Wednesday. And Carolyn,
we asked, I dare say, maybe the most important question
(00:21):
we have ever asked on our Facebook page this morning. Yes,
in your opinion, what pairs best with peanut butter? Okay,
I thought you posted a new question because I did see.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
That, but I did not think that would be your
This is important stuff. You can tell a lot about
a person. You can tell a lot about a person
than what they like to pair with peanut butter. You're
not yeah, yeah, what's it for you? What's for me?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I answer, I haven't seen yours, but I put honey.
Honey is my answer. I love honey with peanut butter
on like a bagel or a piece of toast.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, what about you? It's grape jelly. It's not just
it's not just kiddy old jelly. It is specifically grape jelly.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
The only place I enjoy grape jelly is in a
crock pot on a meatball mixed withee, sauce or chop.
That's the only play. Have you ever had a grape
jelly peanut butter sandwich? I guess so when I was four? Well, yeah,
is it good? When I was forty four.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's the best thing ever. It is my favorite type
of sandwich.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
You're not alone because so many people on our Facebook
page I'm looking through this now say the way to
go is grape jelly up.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Dave says, honey, there we go. Thank you to see,
and Honey's not bad. I just for some reason, honey,
honey is even though it's like wet and sticky, it's
still like it's still not wet. It's kind of dry.
It's on a sandwich. Delightful is what it is, not
a sand What I'm surprised by this though, is that
people have not said chocolate. Has anybody said chocolate yet?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
No, it's too early, Okay, it's too early to think
about chocolate on a piece of toast.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
That's my second go to, just pairing peanut butter with chocolate.
Reese's pieces. They've been doing it for years.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yes, maybe you can follow up on this post and
add chocolate. It sounds like it's me a very busy
morning for you. Here on the break, I said the.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Most important question we have ever asked.

thing they did afterward.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
Sue in Santa Rosa, good morning.

mini vacation?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Oh man, So, Sue, if you quit your job, where
would you go?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Probably back home for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah, visit some relatives.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
I haven't been back to New York for about five
years now.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
So now you have all the time of the world.
You just quit your job.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Well, theoretically, courtee, he bosses list. I thought we were
playing the position's open, and then you've.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
We were just I thought we were just make be leaving.
The great as that answer is and as fun as
a vacation sounds. Right now, that's not the correct answer. Okay,
so make it a good day. That was fun.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Thank you, all right, take care guys.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Renee in San Jose, good morning. What's your guess? Took
a nap?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
You know you got all that pressure leading up to
the big quit? Yeah, take a little is it take
a nap?
Speaker 2 (04:27):
It's not taking a nap? Okay, what is it? Court?
They called their.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Momm Well, this has to be young people.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I think you're more inclined to quit a job at
a younger age than when you're older and wiser and
realize better have a job first.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
I got my mom if I was let go, because
i'd yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
That's all right, Renee, nice job, thanks for playing, have
a good day.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Goodbye.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Have you ever done that you leave a job and
first call, first call is your mom. I never a
job when I was younger, but I think that if
I had, my mom would have been the first person
that I would have called. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, I don't remember quitting any jobs. I'm sure I have,
but yeah, my mom would be my first call. For
sure at this stage in my life, though, my wife
would be my first phone call. Okay, who would be
your second?
Speaker 3 (05:18):
You?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
It would be you, hey, but there it would I
just quit.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
You would be quitting, right, It would be this job.
So that would be a weird call.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
It would be a weird call. Anyway.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
We're at eight seven, seven nine, eight one oh nine
eight one Morning Breeze brain Teas. We invite you to
play along every morning at six twenty five.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and Bill
Withers at six forty. It's ninety eight point one the Breeze,
and it is time now for you to ask us anything.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Yes, a chance for you to send us a message
however you care to do it, whether it be via
email or a talkback on our iHeartRadio app or call
us eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one,
so many ways. Yeah, send a letter, sure if you'd like,
stop by, drop it off with our security guard, George.
Here we go, great guy.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
All right?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
This one from Dave in San Rafel. Dave says, good morning,
Carolyn and Corda. I love your show. I listen every
morning on my commute from San Refel to Petaluma. Thank
you Dave for your ask us anything. I want to
know when you're not at the Breeze. What kind of
music or podcasts do you love to listen to?
Speaker 2 (06:42):
M Mine's easy? What's that?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
You know?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I love yacht rock?
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Oh yeah, I love yat rock, Kenny logainst Holland Oates
Fleetwood Mac.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I mean it's kind of like the breeze. Yeah you know?
Oh yeah, sure.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
So I'm breeze adjacent. Not too big of a departure,
so still in the same realm.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
What about you? So I do enjoy podcasts. There's a
couple of comedy podcasts that I typically like. I like
the big podcasts these days are those crime the true
I can't get into that. But there's a couple of
comedy podcasts that I love. One it's called Comedy Bang Bang. Okay,
it's just kind of dumb. Okay, that's why I love
it so much. Great, great review, But music wise, I don't.
(07:18):
I mean, I'm pretty eclectic. I've got teenage daughters and
so they're listening to the younger kids stuff, which I
actually enjoy. Okay, But like right now, there's this artist,
her name is Sharon van Etten. She's got a brand
new album out. Okay, I've like listened to it probably
I don't know, thirty times in a row.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I just love it. That's cool, so good. It's kind
of got like a throwback eighty sound to it. Sounds
like Blondie sometimes.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Okay, Okay, good, Yeah, that's yeah, I love it. There's
a podcast that I started listening to called Armchair Anonymous.
This is all on you can get all of these,
by the way, on our iHeart Radio app. That's right,
Armchair Anonymous with Dax Shephard. Oh yes, and they have
this segment where they call them arm cherries. I guess
(08:01):
this is their audience, and it's really funny, like people
sort of write in like ask us anything, but they'll
they'll have a topic and then people could just call
in and tell their stories. They're always like these bizarre
stories like how I quit my job or the weirdest
thing that ever happened to me.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
And it's like super entertaining. I always listen to it
when I'm working. That's great. So yeah, yacht rock podcasts,
we got.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
It all here and again you can find all those
things your favorite podcasts on our iHeartRadio app. But good question, Dave,
thank you ask us anything. We do it every weekday
morning here at six point forty on the Breeze.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Want to remind you that coming up on Friday, we
will be naming a new Morning Breeze Person of the Week.
But we still continue to search for those great people
in the Bay Area.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yes, who is that person in your life that you
see as always doing good things for other people or
maybe they've done something extremely nice for you. We want
to know who they are, what they're doing. That's so
great because we want to award them Brunch for two
on the Bay on city cruises. So get those nominations in.
At ninety eight one the Breeze dot Com, Huey Lewis
and the New seven oh seven. Good morning, It is
(09:02):
the morning Breeze with Carolyn and Corden. It is time
for the Brighter Side. We do it every weekday morning
right around this time. We want to hear about the
good stuff happening here in your life, things that make
you happy. Eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight one.
Brighter Side brought to you by Shreve and Company, Luxury
time Pieces, fine designers and Flawless Diamonds.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Kenny in San Jose. We understand you have a unique job.
What do you do for a living.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I'm a falconer.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
You're a falconer.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, I do bird abatement.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
What So I'm chasing seagulls right now. Actually I'm on
my way to the Warriors Stadium. Yeah, to go look
for a little bird that made it in the gladium.
And then after we're working there a couple hours, I'm
going down to Monterey to work on a gig. So
I love this song for this is my twenty second
year doing falconry.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Twenty a year. When when did you decide to become
a falconer? Did this this run the family?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
No, it doesn't run in a family. I had a
friend of an old school friend of mine that was
doing this, had created a job doing this, and and
he says, hey, why don't you come volunteer with me
for six months? And I said, ah, I'll give you
a month. Let's see where it goes.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
And boom, what did you do before?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I sold cemetery plots for Skylawn Memorial Park.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah, what a career change.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
But yeah, I've got two dogs in the truck with
me and four birds.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
So you have birds in the truck with you right now?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Let me check. Let's see one, two, three, Yeah, four birds.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I feel like you do.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
You have a bird logo somewhere on your truck. I
feel like you've got a bird logo somewhere.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Oh, of course, old circle falconry and I've got a
lander falcon flying on in the logo.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah, this is the coolest week, Kenny. We could literally
talk to you forever. This is so awesome. Before we
let you go, what is your favorite thing about your job?
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I'm out and I'm a personal trainer for dogs and raptors.
I keep them in good shape, I keep them happy.
And my dogs are ripped. They are so muffled up
from running around this.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Is the coolest, coolest store. I don't think anybody has
ever told me that that their dogs were quote ripped.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, well, Kenny, thank you for calling
it certainly.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Thank you for listening to us every morning.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Yeah, it was just it was lovely here for showing
the in the morning. I know that you guys are
spending way more time than usual. Thank you, Thank you
for your time.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Now, this is fascinating. We love we love this. We
thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with you. Kenny. Thanks again.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Right on you guys, be well, love you bye bye.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
If you've got a unique job like Kenny, or have
something happy and fun to tell us about, we want
to hear about it. It's the brighter side. Eight seven
seven nine one nine eight one.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Speaking of cool things, coming up at seven twenty five
this morning, there is a movie theater in the Bay
Area that has just made a list of the coolest
movie theaters, not just in the nation court but in
the world. It's a top twenty one list and one
of our Bay Area theaters has made that list.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
We're going to talk about it. Coming up seven twenty
five here on the Breeze.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
This music from Shade here on ninety eight point one.
The Breeze seven twenty six is the time. It's the
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court So.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
The Grand Lake Theater in Oakland has been included on
Variety magazines list of the twenty one coolest movie theaters
in the World. Oh wow, the Grand Lake Theater built
in nineteen twenty six. I have to say, I've lived
here a long time. I have never been to the
Grand Lake Theater. I've driven past, certainly seen pictures online.
(12:52):
It is a beautiful theater from the outside that I
just haven't gone inside. But I know a lot of
people that have and say it's a great, great theater.
So I just think that's really cool. Think about how
many movie theaters court are in the world, the nation,
let alone the world, and for the Grand Lake to
make the top twenty one is very cool.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah. When I moved to the Bay Area, I had
a couple of people tell me that I needed to
go to see a movie at the Alamo Draft House
in the Mission, Oh, just because they say that experience
is pretty great. Yes, the theater closest to me is
the Metreon. Yeah, but I went and saw a movie there.
And they've got they've got some specialty theaters. One is
called the Dolby Atmost Theater. It all has to do
(13:32):
with the sound, Okay, and the sound in that theater
was so it was suffocating, Like it was so intense.
It's almost too much. It was almost too much. The
movie I watched had a sandstorm, and I felt like
I was in a sandstorm.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
I mean, that's kind of cool, but I see what
you're saying, but it's too much.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, I just looked up what this looks like, the
Grand Lake. Yeah, and it's beautiful, right. Yeah, it's like
old school, like old school Hollywood theater.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Well, and that's what I was just going to say.
What's cool is it's a very old school theater. But
the roof of the Grand Lake Theater is now full
of solar panels and that provides most of the power
for that theater. So you take this like old theater
and you make it kind of modern. So I see
why it.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Made the list. It's gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I know, we've had so many great theaters in the
Bay Area, and I know obviously you're not from here,
but the one that comes to mind for me when
you're talking about like, what's the coolest movie theater you've
ever been to? There was a theater in pleasant Hill
because I grew up in that area, and we called
it the Dome Theater, but it was like a syn Art,
SINNTA Arts, sin Arts, c i E, Sinna, Cinemax, Cineplex,
(14:34):
Cina Arts. We called it the Dome Theater in Pleasant Hill.
They took it down in twenty thirteen, but it was
the neatest theater. I just showed courts some pictures. If
you are from the East Bay, you've ever been in there,
you remember it was a big round, like obviously dome,
but inside the tiles on the top were green, so
it's sort of this creepy I saw et in there.
(14:57):
That was like the first movie I ever saw in
the Dome theater. But you're kind of freaked out as a
kid because it was such a big theater.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Right, Yeah, those are the memories that will always stick
with you. Min The theater I grew up going to
as a dollar theater called the Alhambra, and you were
guaranteed to lose your shoes to the stickiness of the floor.
So gross. You were wearing like flip flops, I know,
so that's where I saw et.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Hey, we're at eight seven seven nine eight one oh
nine eight one the coolest movie theater you've ever been in.
You can always send us a talk back with our
iHeartRadio app that talkback Mike but Man, congratulations to everybody
at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Very very happy for you all. But they're celebrating today
for sure. Great list to be on. Hey, we're just
minutes away from giving away another pair of tickets to
see bos Skags at the Mountain Winery October twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Oh, it's going to be such a good show. You
don't want to miss this chance to go see him
live when he's here in town. So be here at
seven thirty five. That is your chance to win on
the Breeze.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court And congratulations,
you've just won yourself to Boss Skaggs Concerts tickets.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Oh, thank you so much. I'm driving to work and
I was worried because of the delay with listening online
that I would miss you.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Oh you're listening. Are you listening on our app?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
I'm listening through your website.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
That's very cool. Thank you so much. We really appreciate that.
What's your name and where are you?
Speaker 4 (16:20):
My name is Adria and I am pulling into my
job at Los Pasitas College in Livermore, California.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
What do you do at Las Fasidas.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
I'm an administrative assistant and I help students register and
apply for college.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
I warness. That is very cool.
Speaker 5 (16:39):
It is my birthday.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Oh my gosh, happy birthday. Yeah, happy birthday. You've got
yourself two tickets to see Boss Skags at the Mountain Winery.
It's happening October twenty eighth, All courtesy of Golden Voice,
and tickets are on sale now at Mountain Winery dot com.
But you don't have to worry about.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
That because you just want to thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
You are welcome and another chance to and tomorrow morning,
same time, seven thirty five on The Breeze.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
It's eight oh seven here on ninety eight point one
The Breeze Alicia Keys and The Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Last hour, we were talking about the fact that Oakland's
historic Grand Lake Theater has been included on Variety Magazines
list of the twenty one coolest movie theaters in the
entire world.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
That's a great list to be on.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
It is the Grand Lake Theater, of course, built in
nineteen twenty six, and well deserving to be on this list.
We were talking about the coolest movie theaters that you've
ever been in. I had mentioned the Old Dome Theater
in Pleasant Hill, which is now no longer, but that
used to be the coolest.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Theater as a kid to go to. Very very unique.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Eight seven, seven nine, eight one oh nine eight. One
is how you reach us?
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Gail?
Speaker 2 (17:45):
What is your favorite movie theater?
Speaker 3 (17:48):
The Stanford Theater is amazing. So they have a big,
big Poorlinsture organ.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
That they played before the movies, and then if you
go to a silent movie, it's like the old they
play along with it.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
That's cool, Oh, that's neat.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
So I actually saw Cotta Blanca are on Thanksgiving Day
several years ago because it was the fiftieth anniversary of
Cotta Blanca. So so the gentleman I was dating at the time,
and I decided after.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Dinner that we would go to see that.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
But then I wanted to see a silent movie there,
so we shall not Strato wouldn't just see old Dracula.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
So they play lots of old movies. The Stanford kibbin.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
I'm obsessed. I'm looking online. I just googled it. I'm
obsessed with these pictures. Like on the outside it looks
completely different than it does on the inside.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Good tip, Gale, thank you.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
You're welcome.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Have a good day, you too, So.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Carolyn, I just looked this up on Wikipedia. The Stanford
Theater frequently accounts for as much as twenty five percent
of all classic film attendance in the United States.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Really at that one theater in Palo Alto, it is
neat those pictures. I was just looking out online. It
is a beautiful theater inside. Wow, very cool.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
I love see.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
I love talking about stuff like this because we get
such great information from you are listeners. We get to
pass it to everybody else. So this is great eight
seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one talking
about the coolest movie theater in the Bay Area. You
can always send us a message with our iHeartRadio app.
Just use that talkback microphone on the app. And it's
no secret that one of the coolest outdoor venues in
(19:27):
the world is here in the Bay Area as well.

of my favorites, hands down. And you're gonna have a
