Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on Demand. Good morning, it
is the Morning Breeze. It is Friday, Carolyn and Court
April twenty fifth, twenty twenty five. We're only five days
away from May, which is crazy. That is so weird.
I just realized that Happy Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Happy Friday. As Mariah Carey sings about heroes, I need
to talk quickly here, Carolyn. Yeah, about a hero in
my life and yours, our good friendy Lane. Yeah, that
works here at iHeart right now. I love a Lane.
She's one of the great many account executives here. If
you're buying advertising it, I heart you might work with Elane.
Yesterday I was able to join her at the Giants

(00:39):
game with all the other salespeople. She bought me my
very first crab sandwich, the world famous Oracle Park crab sandwich.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
I have the cutest picture of you eating that crab.
Do you know that? No, somebody send it to me.
Somebody else in sales send it to me. Todd, our salesman,
sent it to me and said Court's first crab sandwich.
And I thought Court bought a crab sandwich at the
Giants game. And now I know that Elane bought it
for you tried.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
To buy it and a Lane bought it ahead of time.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Wait, so Elane bought it.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So we we got in line and she you know
ladies first. Yeah, so I let her go ahead and
she bought two sandwiches instead of one, and then she
just hands me on.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I'm like, oh, that's she must have texted Todd, and
then Todd texted me that's why that way.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
But everywhere I went, they're like, this is his first
crab sandwich.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
It's a really cute picture. We should post it. Also,
you did a great video yesterday of going to a
game and running into a coworker, and that coworker was
was you me in the PA booth? But it was like,
I loved your photos from yesterday. So we'll have to
post those today. People will love to see those. We
are at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one,
coming up this morning at eight twenty. We have more

(01:55):
chances for you to go see Heart at the Chase
Center on August tenth.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yet that show went on sale yesterday. So even though
I can't say you can win these before you can
buy them, yeah, we're gonna give them to you for free.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, you could still win them. I guess yes.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
So that's coming up at eight twenty coming up at
six twenty five, the Morning Breeze Brain Teas. More than
half of Americans don't know the first names of these people.
The first names of these people, So over fifty percent
of Americans say they don't know the first names of
these people.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Immediately comes to mind. I'm thinking of like historical figures
or a group, or like a singing group maybe, or.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I'm thinking like this singing group. What the Kingston Trio?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Hey, I don't know the first names of the Kingston Trio.
Harry No, all right, all right, Fred, all right, Morning
Breeze brain Tees. Is that really their names?

Speaker 2 (02:44):

first names of these people.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
All right? Eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine
eight one. Sue in Santa Rosa, Good morning, you are
up first? What do you think grab I? Ministers and priests? Oh, yeah,
that is so true. You go to church and you
just you would call them father, father, so and.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
So, father Jacobson.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, it's a good guess. Is that it?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
That is not it?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
All right? You guys have a great day you shoe hike.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Rebecca in Freema, Good morning, Happy Friday. What's your guess?

Speaker 3 (03:48):

Past presidents? Maybe they refer to them by their last name, Lincoln, McKinley.
They're gonna say, like Jackson or Washington.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Yeah, wow, did I pass?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
No?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
So the answer actually is more than half of Americans
say they don't know the first names of their grandparents,
all four grandparents?

Speaker 1 (04:13):
What is that? Not crazy?

Speaker 5 (04:15):
I'm actually speak to her, I know, And the thing
is is that you always call them something else. You know,
Mama Tiny was my grandmother on my dad's side, and
Big Mama was my grandmother on my father's you know
what I mean, So we never used their name.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Can you imagine your nickname being Big Mama? I love
it your poor grandma today, that would be so insulting.
You're like, hey, are we going to Big Mama's house?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
That's exactly what we would say.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
So good Rebecca, have a good day. Thank you for
calling and playing along.

question number one Giants.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
I follow the Niners too. During football season, I become
a Niners fan for sure. Now do I know every
player on the team. Do I know every team they
play against? I do not, But I like to watch
football in the off season, so I watch the Niners.
There my go to football team.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
You're casual casual fans.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, but I wouldn't lie and be like, oh, yeah,
Niners are my team. But I love the Niners. I
love their Bay Area team. I love the Niners for
the people that live here in the Bay Area, but
it's not like my top sport. How about following you.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
So I grew up as a hardcore forty nine Ers fan.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Growing up in Utah, it was all forty nine Ers
for me, so interesting, mainly because Steve Young coming out
of oh.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Byuyu in Utah, so I knew that there were So
I'm a forty nine Ers fan because I am from Utah.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I have tried to adopt the local NBA teams when
I moved because I lived in Portland. I tried to
be a trailh Blazers fan. I couldn't do it. Yeah,
I'm a Utah Jazz fan.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, I was going to bake.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Well, I'm a Utah Jazz fan. It was a very
tough year to be a Utah Jazz fan this year. Okay,
But I've never been around a Major League Baseball team,
which is why I'm so excited that I am now
a Giants fan.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I know and we love the You're a Giants fan.
By the way, if you missed what we talked about
earlier in the show, Court tried his first San Francisco
Giants crab sandwich yesterday. We've got a very adorable picture
on our Facebook page, so check that out. And we
want to know what your favorite game day food is.
And you know, honestly, I can go for any sport.
You go to any it could even be a concert.
Oh you go to a venue, got to have a snack,

(07:37):
what is it? So join that conversation on our Facebook page.
But Bruce, good question this morning. Thank you for writing in.
You can ask us anything like Court said call us
eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight one, send
us a message via email. You can do that through
our website at ninety eight one, the Breeze dot com
or social media.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That's right, and coming up this morning at eight twenty
once again, another chance for you to win those tickets
to see Heart at the Chase. So again, if you've
got if pizza is the thing you eat every time
you go to a concert, yeah, we'll pick up the tickets.
You just have to pay for your own pizza.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I think I would still eat a thing in nachos
because that's my go to at any venue with the jalapenos.
I would do that and watch Heart. I think that
would be my always place in the world.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
I always feel strange though at a concert eating while
listening to music.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
It is weird, a little weird, and heaven forbid, you
have to stand up and right, what do you do
with your food? Exactly? It's a conundrum.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Anyway, be here eight twenty your chance to win Heart
tickets here on the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord. Happy Friday morning. And
because it's Friday, you know, at this time every Friday
morning we announce our new Morning Breeze Person of the Week.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
This is where we talk about the uncelebrated heroes in
the Bay Area. And I think everybody has somebody like
this in their lives, somebody that they work with, a
family member maybe, or could even be somebody you just
bumped in on the street, a stranger. Yeah, it's just
doing good things for people in the Bay Area. That
definitely fits the bill this week because Gloria in Oakland
is our More Breeze Person of the Week and she

(09:01):
was nominated by her co worker Patricia.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Okay, so we just got Patricia on the phone. Hi, Patricia,
It's Carolyn and Court from ninety eight point one The Breeze.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Oh my god, you called me in the morning Walk.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Oh this is perfect. Then You'll have plenty of time
to tell us about Gloria and why you nominated her
for our Morning Breeze Person of the Week.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Gloria Backley, He's a magnificent social worker who has helped
creative families and build families for the last sixty years
in the Bay Area. This lady sent her resignation letter
via email to us about a few weeks ago and
didn't want any recognition. I known Gloria enough for twelve
fifteen years I work in this time of the agency.

(09:47):
She's an amazing worker. Every time I've done the Goodman
families from all ranges, LGBTQ, single, Okaylin, black families, they
always ask, where's Gloria. Give my love to Gloria, Say
hi to Gloria. She's someone who has just devoted her
life to give the best to other people and create families.

(10:07):
She doesn't want recognition, she doesn't want validation, she doesn't
want trophies. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know when you submitted about Gloria, reading that she
helped match more than five hundred children over six decades.
I love how you're phrasing it. She created families, m M.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
I love that she changed lives and created new journeys
for people of all different backgrounds, and it can be unhurt.
I need other people to know that they're good people
out there doing the real job, having true vocations through
calling true purposes. And they happen to be Americans, and myself,
I'm a foreigner. I'm from South America. Let me tell you,

(10:46):
Americans will be young careers and titles. You have purpose,
you have goals, you have so many dreams and things
so you can teach to the rest of the world.
And I needed to highlight.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Her absolutely, and especially the fact that she has been
a social worker for sixty years. I can't imagine that
that is easy work at all, and then doing it
for sixty years. On top of that, she never complained.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
She's in her eighties. She's a lady who has bring
joy and you've changes for people in general, and I
think that I needed to bring it up. I listened
to your radio. I never saw myself submitting for someone else,
but I felt compelled to do it.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
For her, and we're so glad that you did. Thank
you for nominating Gloria and bringing her story to life.
Like I wish there were more Patricia's in the Bay
Area that would do this because there are so many
people that don't get recognition that they deserve, and this
is exactly what our Person of the Week is about.
So we want to just say thank you to you, thank.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
You for Colin, and I want for people. There's goodness
out there. There are more good people out there than
evil people. You just need to pay attention, that's all.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Absolutely, So what we're gonna do is we're gonna reach
out to Gloria separately and make sure that she knows
that she's become the Morning Breeze Person of the Week. Yes,
and also get her connected with City Cruises because she's
one that brunch on the Bay courtesy of City Cruises,
and Mother's.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Day is just around the corner, so City Cruises the
perfect mourning out for moms and families. If you want
to do something for your mom for Mother's Day, you
can go to Citycruises dot com and get more information there. Patricia,
we just want to thank you, thank you for nominating her,
thank you for listening to our show, and enjoy the
rest of your walk.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Absolutely, like Mary feels awesome right now, You guys, have
a wonderful morning goodbye.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
And if there's somebody who you have in your life
that you think would make a great Morning Breeze Person
of the Week, nominate them.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Yeah did just think of those people doing good things
but not being recognized for them and head to our
website ninety eight one The Breeze dot Com. An easy
form to fill out and you never know we might
be calling you to talk about them.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
The other day. Do you remember when you borrowed my car?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah? Okay, Oh wait what?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
So I got my car back? Court borrowed my car
and you left it here in the parking garage at work.
And so I come to take my car home and
I get into the car and something feels very off
in the car and I can't figure it out. Now
I would do you already know what it is? Why

(13:21):
didn't you tell me?

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I forgot? I forgot that I had done this. We're
talking about the steering wheel, right, I.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Know, Court, how do you remember doing this? And not? Okay?
So I get in my car. Something feels off. I'm like,
is it the seat? Now I'm adjusting the seat and
now I've forgotten my own seating? Like you know how
you reference? And I'm I'm driving my car down Fifth

(13:48):
Street to get onto the freeway, and I'm like, something
is very off here, and then I'm like, is it
this steering wheel? So I try to move it because
I have my steering wheel. You know how you push
or pulled that little lever on bottom? You pushed the
wheel down, and then I drive with it lower. I thought,
maybe Court likes it higher. You're taller than I am.
That wasn't it. And then my steering wheel slipped away

(14:12):
from me a little bit and I went moved towards
the dashboard. Yeah, and I went, wait a minute, A,
it can do this, because I didn't even know that
was an option. R and B Court, So it was you.
This story was supposed to be about, hey, you ever
have somebody get in your car and move something around

(14:32):
you can't figure it out what it is, But now
it's more about why didn't you tell me if you knew?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
I forgot that I had done it. All I know
is that I was actually I had borrowed your car
to drive perk somewhere for you. Oh that's what it was,
and I appreciate it. It was a thinking your well, it
was long enough commute where I needed to make sure
I was comfortable because I got stuck in some traffic.

(14:57):
Oh yeah, And so I was driving, and I had
made all the seat corrections, but I'm like, this just
doesn't feel right. So I made the adjustment on the
steering wheel, which is where I brought it towards me
because I got little arms. Answer, you're making it sound
like you have Dinasa arms. You don't have little arms, Court,
But because my seat was so far back, I needed

(15:19):
to bring this steering wheel closer to Oh.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
You know, is anybody else listening? Do you realize that
like the steering wheel, you can.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yell it out. You can not only move it up in,
not only up and down, but you can move it
towards you. Who most of the time, not every vehicle
is the same, but in your case, your car, he's
not able to do that?

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Who knew? I had no idea.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
I apologize, I actually meant it. I made a mental
note to correct it when I got back. I can't
even completely forgot.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
I can't even be mad at you because you did
do me a huge favor and took perk home for me.
But that was so funny. I'm like, Court, so I'd
forgotten to bring it up. So I thought I would
just bring it up on the air in front of
thousands of people.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Instead, Well, let me officially apologize, publicly apologize.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Don't apologize again. You did me a favor. Sleep for days.
This story is funnier now that I know that you
were going to tell me and forgot. Anyway, we're at
eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one. You
can always find us on social media at ninety eight
one of the Breeze. A lot of people love to
use that talkback mic on our iHeartRadio app to send
us messages. We love your messages, so keep those coming.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
If you've never done it, how about this, make today
that day?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Do it like I have.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
And it can be about anything. Maybe you're stuck in traffic.
You can tell us where you're stuck in traffic.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Tell us if somebody has gotten into your car, moves
some things around exactly. Yeah, yeah, do that. And coming
up at eight twenty this morning, we're less than an
hour away. It's a chance for you to go see Heart.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, they're coming to the Chase Center August tenth. Tickets
are now on sale, but you're gonna be able to
win them for free from us. So be here eight
twenty your next chance to win. Here on the Morning Breeze.
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cordon once again. Carolyn,
I'm apologizing.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
No, you don't need to, okay. So last hour I
told the story that Court had my car the other day.
He had to take perk home for me from work,
which I totally appreciate. He brought the car back, left
it in the garage here work. I get into the
car and I'm driving to get to the Bay Bridge
on Fifth Street here in the city, and I'm like,
something feels weird. Something is off in my car.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
And it wasn't the normal things. It wasn't the seat,
it wasn't the mirrors.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Just did the seats. I looked at the mirrors. You
know how your car is supposed to feel when you
sit it. One thing was off. It turns out the
steering wheel, which I didn't even know this was an option.
You could set it so that it pulls out toward you.
You could push it in closer to the dock.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
I moved it towards me. I like to lay back
while I drive.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yeah, so that is what had happened. And so I
was asking has this ever happened to anybody else? You
get in your car and there's something off and you
just can't figure it out. Eight seven seven nine eight
one nine eight one Michelle and Annie Kai, good morning.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
I lent my car to a girlfriend one time. It
was an emergency she needed to go.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Now.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
When she returned it, the mirrors were one was looking down,
one was looking up, the other one was way out
where I couldn't even see anything out of it. She
had changed every three set radio station in my.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Oh wow, that's so personal.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
She did it as a joke.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Oh my gosh, it's worse.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
If she did this, how did she drive it right?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
You know?

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Yeah, spinning donuts or you know.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Whatever, spinning donuts.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
The next day she calls me and she says, hey,
I got an emergency. And I said, oh, what's up?
And she says, can I borrow your corner? I said nope.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Oh all right, Michelle, have a good day. Thank you
for the call. Thank you, it's so good. It's such
a burn too.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
It is, by the way, Carolyn, I could I borrow
your No, I'm in camp, Michelle now one and done.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
No, but again, thank you for the favor. We're at
eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one. You
can always send us a message our iHeartRadio app Talkback
Mic as well.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
And we are just minutes away from your next chance
to win tickets to see Heart when they come to
the Chase Center.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yes, this show is happening August tenth. The tickets are
on sale now, but there's still a chance for you
to win them, so you don't have to pick up
the tab. We'll do that for you at eight twenty.
Your chance to win on the Breeze.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and congratulations,
you've just got a pair of tickets to see Heart.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
