Speaker 1 (00:05):
Garage. Willie Bee's garage is now open.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hoorah, what up you guys just saw a Dodge Demon
Superstar robar.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
That's pretty cool, dude.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
We're talking badass cars today. We got a big show
for you there. So my man Doug Paddock on his
way here right now. I was just gonna bring him on.
He's like, hell, you're gonna come down.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
The studio was like, yeah, absolutely, He's always welcome. This
guy's awesome, so he'll be Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Man, he runs, dude, he runs such cool little gig
now with Paddock Imports and his other little dick. We'll
tell you about that in a second. Got Manny coming
on from Tropical Glitz, which is just an amazing paint company.
I got an idea of this kind of coming together
(00:52):
just you know, just randomly, which i'll explain, you know,
in just a minute. Also coming up a little bit later,
the numbers drop this week for the freaking Corvette ZR
one and man damn. So it's the first official garage
(01:15):
show of August.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
So welcome to that.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
The reason that's important is because well, you may or
may not know Carson Christmas, you probably heard of, you know,
if you listen to the station or the show. But
this is this is the beginning of the ramp up.
This is it's August. We're six months out, so this
is when it all begins. And this is when me
and the boys get together. This is when we start
(01:40):
rallying the cars and the troops.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And if you can.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Turn the wrench, you want to come out and help out.
Carcon Christmas by all means we could use some help.
But it's a it's just an unbelievable experience me and
a handful of great friends and what really is just
an un you know, it's wild because so many people,
so many people associate Carcial Christmas to KVPI, which is
(02:05):
you know, and look on there behalf.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I'm sure they like it and hate it at the
same time.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
But it's it's been something that you know, I've done,
you know, on my Sometimes the station's behind it.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Sometimes they haven't been. They're behind it now, which is cool.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
But for the longest time, you know, it was something
that started just you know, because it significantly changes somebody's
I mean, the whole life, like mobility is so taken
for granted. It's just that we never think about when
we go out and you know, start to.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Day, how were gonna get from A to B? How
were gonna get the work, How were we gonna get
the gross store? How we're gonna do this?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, you're gonna drive your dumb ass. Everybody just knows.
Add its just accepted, except for the people that that's
a pipe dream for and when you're able to give
them a car, it really is just it's a cool
give and such a big game changer. So in that
now is the time we start ramping up on this side.
And that means great friends from the Alway Dealership, especially
(03:10):
the Alway Chevrolet Dealership. They're off Broadway. I think it
is in that Broadway right there, bellevuean Broadway. Yet yeah, yeah,
it's Look, it's amazing what these guys can do. But
I figured, since they drop those damn ZR one numbers on,
we'll kill two stones with the same bird.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
We'll get on.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Talk a little bit of cars for Christmas and what
they do, and on top of that, maybe give us
a little review.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
If you've not heard the numbers for the z R one.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Damn damn it, it's pretty impressive, Like it's a game
change of car and there's a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Mike Pettiford could be here today. He's on the list
to get one. Oh okay, you know, like that's.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
A dirty car, man. And the number they gave stunning, Like,
holy damn, it's wild. That Chevrolet you know, actually stepped
up to the plate, came to the table and said,
you'll Dodge hold my beer.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
They kind of did, man, they kind of did. The
two seater. Yeah, two seater. But is it say mid engine?
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah, it's the whole mid engine two seater. So Dodge
and the Demon one seventy all that stuff. Thousand and
fifty horsepower.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Now that's a front engine, correct.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, traditional rear wheel drive application. Like most of the cars,
out of all.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
The cars out on the road, the Corvette is a
mid engine. It's a supercar platform. Okay, So it's balanced
significantly better it and that has a lot to do
with it. It's you know, Cg's in her gravity is
much lower. So it is for all intentions, it's a supercar.
(05:07):
It's designed to compete in that world versus the muscle
car that the Demon, for example, would be in, or
the Mustang. Okay, so, but they just dropped these numbers
that are mund blowing like one thousand and sixty four horsepower. Wow, dude,
what and no turbo like it's on twin turbos, un
(05:31):
like the supercharger of the Demon and the Mustang.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
So it's gonna be interesting. You're gonna be wild.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
But we'll talk to Jeff I believe from the ol
Way dealership out of the Chevy dealership because they're gonna
get a couple and this is basically the last two
ride for muscle cars. But you know, Corvette Chevrolet is
saying they're not coming out the you know, the ice
engine platform for that car.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
They are going to have an electric Corvette. Oh okay, but.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
But they're still gonna do a gas one as well. Yes, yes,
as long as people are buying them.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I mean, it's gonna be interesting, right, but we'll talk
shop on that.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Have they ever said this is gonna be the last,
this is gonna be the last? Or are they like, no,
we're just gonna keep making them, because like Dodge, Dodge
kind of did that a little bit.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
No, Dodge absolutely like, this is it, This is it.
And then they're like, well then we're gonna make a
few of these. Now we're gonna make a few of
these they did do.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
They did go shady on the Durrango. Of the Durrango,
I think they said. I think if my boy Scott listening,
maybe you can text me number. But he's one of
the guys that bought the twenty nineteen Dodge d Ringo.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
I think it's twenty nineteen. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
But the twenty nineteen Dodged the Rango was supposed to
be a one year only offering, right, so people secured it,
like my boy Scott, he got one.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
They secure it.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Boom, no more value of them, you know, skyrockets, blah
bah blah. And then and then they kept on making.
So they've not said there is a ending to this platform.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
With the corvette.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
They are adding an all electric corvette. I believe it's
going with the Stingray badge, if I recall. So, yeah,
a little spin on the traditional interpretation. But we'll see.
But this new one, this z are one. Good God,
(07:33):
what a statement, What a statement. Anyway, we'll talk about it,
we'll bark about, we'll have some fun. Wily's garage back
in just a minute, BPI.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Willybe's garage. You're back in Willybe's garage.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
What is up you guys?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Fired up man Swooby's garage. But boy, Doug Paddick in
the house. Thanks for coming down, man, always good having
you in.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Oh it's awesome, thanks for having us.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, so Paddicky imports. Plus what do you so you
build some crazy stuff?
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Man?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Let me so we're gonna have manny on from Tropical Glitz. Uh,
just talking paint kind of kicked the show off. I was,
I was stuck. I was hitting up Doug this morning
because look these numbers dropped on this ZR one y'all,
and it's stupid.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
It is. It's like, oh, it's pretty wicked.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
And this this end of era or is it of
muscle cars and performance cars and you know, turbos and
supercharges just magnificent in nevery regard. So Doug is really
elbows deep in Somemouties, Lamborghinis, things like that. And there's look,
there's some of the baddest cars street cars on the
(08:47):
planet right now that come from you know, they're wearing
the Audi badge and uh, you know it, it's wild house.
Supercars are becoming the hot rods of of the modern
eras it's just wild. But at the same time, you
still have some you know, some demons out there, some Mustangs.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
That new Mustang. Y'all.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
My boy Kevin is he's all in that program. That's
his program. I got a crazy update for that. He
works for Multimatic, the company behind that build, and he
actually got to drive one on the track the other day. Man,
from the problems that they've worked out, I can't relay
any of it, but I from the inside, they have
been on this car and it is something spectacular. There's
(09:29):
gonna be something else, just just knowing some of the
hurdles that they've overcome and some things still left to done.
And the three cars that you know are under production
right now that should be out in the next couple
weeks are the first three. They're the test mules, so
they go out every nutting bolt straight up from the factory.
If everything checks out with all the warranty, then they
(09:50):
go full throttle. Then that's you know, these cars were
all built on the line, on the equipment, on the tooling.
It's the first three to roll out. They're super excited
about that. And if these three passed the you know,
the quality test, then boom it goes into mass production.
And man, when I say mass production, these things are insane.
A three hundred thousand dollars Mustang, but it is lighting
(10:12):
the honest to god sitting records at uring did lamons
a twenty four hour La Mons. I think it was scoring,
like this thing is sick, this thing is killing it
and it's a Mustang. It's stupid, a three hundred thousand
dollars Mustang, but it's a supercar and it is crazy cool.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
So welcome the show. Dug up fire of you here?
Speaker 6 (10:33):
Man?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Oh thanks, man, I appreciate that having it. This is
a good time. It's always fun to talk cars, isn't
It isn't a wild where we're at with cars.
Speaker 7 (10:39):
Well, I was thinking on the way over, it's it's
kind of a golden time because technology has taken such
a foothold in this stuff. It's always been technology, but
now it's like falling out of a tree. You can
make a thousand horsepower with anything. Yeah, I'm sorry, and
it's just what it is. And now that now that
the the Oees have taken this, like the GTD, they're
saying eight hundred, not after the eight. It's gonna be
(11:01):
it'll tip nine hundred plus. Oh yeah, and this new
the new Corvette, the ZR one a thousand horse power
and you and I both know that we can make
an LS and make a thousand horsepower literally on pump, right, right,
we can do that, right, yes?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
And it's and then that's a twin turbo.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Have you seen a video and how they eliminated a
turbo lag like that car is?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
It is gonna be a nasty little whip.
Speaker 7 (11:27):
You know there's a better part, right. They haven't introduced
the Zorra. The Zora is one step above this corvette.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Above the ZR one. Yes, sir Jesus, all right, we
got to go to break.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
We'll get Manny on Tropical Glitz is the company and
this man, when it comes to a how we started
this company is just badass.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
But what he's done with this.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Company and what he's continuing to do in the world
of pain is unique. It's different and relative to a
lot of people building cars right now as you ramp
up for things like Sema. So more on that in
just the second back Doug Battick, will he be Willy's garage?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Thanks for the time, man. It's one of seven to
nine KVPI, Willy.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Be's garage fell back in Willy Bee's garage.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Whatever you guys will be his garage Saturday.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
All right, we got a boy, Manny from Tropical Glitz,
gopt my man, Doug pattikin here to hear what he's
got going on. We're gonna talk a little numbers when
it comes that new Corvette numbers are.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Just released this week.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Stupid by the way, But you know what else is stupid?
These crazy colors out in the world today.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
It's wild. Man.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Every time you think that you know, green is well,
you know, don't finished. Did they come out with the
wild shade of green or a blue or a brown
or whatever. And when you talk colors, man, there is
one guy that's been shaking it up more, I tell
you more response from having you on earlier, you know,
earlier in the year. I think it was, you know,
(12:53):
last year at this point with Tropical Glitz, my man, Manny.
More response from having you on that one time about
people that use your paint for BMX bikes, for side projects,
for you know, everything, for our sea cars. My boys
said was like, I use that stuff for our sea cars.
To full on guys doing crazy cool custom paint jobs.
(13:14):
So welcome back to the show Man. It's Manny, the
guy who created Tropical Glitz. Many always good having you
on Man things.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
Taking his time, Bro, Willy, it's always a pleasure, brother.
Thank you so much. Man, it's always awesome to be
on back on the show Man.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
So for people that don't know, Man will tell people
real quick why and how Tropical Glitz came about, how
you first began the company, like the reason, and how
it just sort of skyrocketed from there, so everybody kind
of knows, you know, the route that really made everything
else grow and everything spawn from Willy.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
Dude, that's thank you man. It started nine years ago.
I was working corporate American World. I've always been painting
cards in my whole life, and I just said, let
me do something different. And we had kids, me and
my wife. We had two beautiful baby boy twins and
for term twins, and one of them was born paralyzed
and we didn't find out till like six or seven
(14:10):
months down the road. And then I mean, we were
part of everything you can think of, and then we
ended up being part of the Miami Projects, an organization
here in South Florida find a cure for paralysis that
works for across the whole world. And man, we just
started this. I started this as a little side thing
because we couldn't afford to pay his physical therapy and
(14:32):
his insurance surplus, you know, for the stuff, and all
proceeds went to him. And then just snowball. Nine years later,
you know, we're we're obviously doing a lot better than
we did first when we first started in my laundry room,
you know. And and it's still we're still with the
mission with that and thank god we've been. Besides everything
(14:55):
we do with paint, we're still giving back to the
Ronald McDonald's house, and we're giving to the donate to
the Miami Project into different things that come close to
us that helped us when we were doing our things
and doing therapy and all that with our son, you know.
And we make a lot of cool color and you know,
we love cars.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
You have done that by your critiquing, and you're just
passion in pursuit of all all things a little different,
a little above the normal grade, a little higher than
what you could find in the corporate world.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
You traveled the globe.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
To find pigments, colors and so forth right, like you,
you're the man who's done it.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
I still do it, bro, I still love it. You know,
I'm a car guy, you know what kind of Right now,
I have three classic cars I'm working on right now.
One of them is right ready to get painted. Yeah,
I'm always looking for it. Ever since the beginning I
can remember as a child, I've always liked colors, no matter.
You know, I don't see green. I seen emerald green,
I seen ivory green, I see lying green. I see
(15:59):
all these shades. So you'd be surprised the amount of things.
You know, you have to go to different parts of
the world to get certain minerals that have a particular
shade for you to grind down and make it the pain.
So wherever the winds can take me to find something cool,
I'm I'm I'm on the plane. I'm going over there. Man.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, do you have a cool story where you found
a unique color or pigment or something that was different
that was just kind of a rare find or unique
And you're like, dude, I gotta have that.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
Dude, you know what you don't you don't you want
to be honest, the rarest fine I find. It's not
going out there. Sometimes it's actually reading history and seeing
how the victorians figured certain shades out. And then from me,
I start backtracking and say, Okay, does this particular pigment
or ingredients still exist in modern daytime? And then I
(16:48):
start making phone calls and talking and all that. So
I actually my biggest discovery is in history for me
to find out how we did it, to see how
we're kind of do it today because things, you know,
we forget things over the time, history gets rewritten, all
this good stuff, and I'm obsessed with always finding the
weirdest things.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
You know, is there an application that you could Is
there like a bronze or a gold where you you
found something out of a history book that you you've
made a color change with.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
Dude, I'll tell you something. I found a beautiful color
in India. You know, in India that makes silk right, yeah,
and silk has no color, but India is huge for textiles.
The cades of organic and inorganic pigments and the stuff
that they make over there, it's phenomenal. And then I
(17:38):
ended up going over there just to look at what
they're doing with silk to see how I can pull
that over and bring it here and then that was
just one part of the pie. And then the other
part of the equation is the pearls and all that,
because you can just have a beautiful shade of purple,
but how do you make that purple different? You know,
how do you add to it? So that to me
(17:58):
has to be one of the biggest things for me. Man,
just thinking outside the box.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah, insane too.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
And your colors representment because people always talk about tropical glitz,
they always talk about you know, and what's wild is
you tried your best to get really high quality paint
not just available in your you know, your gallons if
you're gonna paint a car or whatever, this that, but
you're doing it also in a way that people can
buy a spray can like a unique different design in it,
(18:28):
but a high quality paint you can get out of
a can. And what's really crazy is the depths he
went to to find the right freaking can, which.
Speaker 5 (18:38):
Is insane too. That was a great trip. That was
the Finland. You know, there's a big manufacturer in Germany
that provides a huge source of aerosol cans. But we
ended up working with the company out of Finland and
he had the propellant. You know, spray cans don't have
the same propelling pretty much as but tane. It's really
(18:59):
affordable cheap propellant. You know, I'm not gonna say cheap,
I'm gonna say affordable because it's still a great quantity.
And I went to filling in what they had over
there was phenomenon all the way and then they let
me kind of build it like legos. So I needed
a spray can to have this particular nolzle, this particular
event and all that. But it was the best trip ever.
I've never been to such a beautiful country. It was
(19:21):
in summer obviously, so it wasn't freezing, but dude, they
had the best recipe for me to make it happen
here for and then, you know, we we do around
five thousand spray cans a month, so we import the
empty spray can with a propellant and then we pump
in into the cans or reduce her in our painting house.
And it's been a game changer for us.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
You know, wow, wow, five thousand cans of spray paper
a month. That's on top of it, just the other
half pints this, that and whatever that's just cans. Wow,
that's can you believe that five thousand cans a week?
Speaker 7 (20:02):
That's a lot if you think about it. So of
the five thousand cans, just out of curiosity, are they
all the same the colors.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
That you have or they see the color stuff at all?
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Really, they're all different everything. Yeah, So when we say
five thousand, that's five thousand cans that we sell that
physically leaves are building. No, they're not all the same color.
We'll make We'll do a run of three hundred cans
of one color, you know, two hundred of another. Maybe, oh
there's a specialty color that will make like forty or
fifty cans, and we go from there. But that's kind
(20:36):
of where we're at right now. And you know, we
expanded last year for an additional five thousand square feets
or we're ten thousand square feet here in Miami, Florida,
And I'm just kind of going with the win man
and see how it goes.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
That's what everybody says the forums on every time we
have you, either on the show or have you here
on the radio, everybody pops off about your colors depth
and you know how they're just different they're a little
different flip, a little different flopping, a little different wow
and pal.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Factor if you will. There.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
You do have some unique blends and mixes that really
give some depth. So however you're doing it, there's a
lot of a lot of people responding from it.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
Yeah, bro, I just try to make what I like.
You know, people I have a we get hit up
all the times, say hey, can you make me this
cutter or match? And you know, if you hit me up,
Willie or your buddy there says hey, I want to
you know, I want an OEM color from the sixties.
I can make it. But I tell people I'm not
in that business. You can go to a local paint store.
I'll take care of you because you want our stuff.
(21:43):
But I just make colors I like, dude. I just
you know, if I like it, someone else has to
like it, because I don't think I have I don't
think I have bad taste at all. So that's how
it's been going, man, and we're just kind of rocking
and rolling.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
Quick question for you, if I gave you a color
that I liked, like shelter green, the Ford shelter green
that's on the Raptors and I said, Okay, go crazy,
do something cool with it. That's the base color I want,
but make it different, make it mine.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Can you do that?
Speaker 5 (22:10):
I say, LUs, Yeah, of course, we do it all
the time. There's a gentleman called He's out of California,
mister cartoons, Mark by Style. When you watch those beer commercials.
I forgot the name of the beer, but he does
a lot of stuff. He has stuff with turtle wax.
He did a pepsi commercial for Super Bowl once or twice,
you know. And he hit me up and he says, look,
(22:32):
I'm building this fifty eight Apollo. I'm not. It's not
a lotwer Rider. It's all stock. I love this Porche
green from twenty twenty eight or whatever, I mean, twenty
twenty five, twenty twenty four, whatever Cody gave me. It goes.
But I want that twist, give me that that tropical
googlet's touch. I gave him a one off color and
he was like, dude, so subtle because that color that
you just mentioned to me for the raptor. Yeah, I'll
(22:55):
take that color. Look up the formula. And then I
have a bunch of dry ingredients that don't come. But
they're not even used in the OEM market for refinishing.
And I'll say, okay, let me replace this with that.
And I started replacing a few things here and there
and just a little tweak and when you look at it,
you're like, dude, it looks like it, but it's like
the overall color is the correct color. But you're like, man,
(23:16):
look at that. Now, a little pearl or the shade
or the yeah, something.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
A little different, which it's just a little.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Bit, but yeah, it stands out.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Man.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
I think less is more sometimes, you.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Know, absolutely that is awesome. Okay, we're talking what he's.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Really good at, you know. And that's why so many
people have found him in really in the paint world.
He's making a huge splash. A lot of people talking
about him. It's like, you know, he's a shiny new
opinion on the market. Everybody's like, have you seen this stuff?
And it's really been it's just a testament to you know,
you and your hard work and the discipline you put
into your craft.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
And he started selling.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
He started selling like glitter out of a suitcase, like
just busting the streets man, you know, trying to hustle
to you know, give money for his kid, his family,
and and he was putting stuff in paint. It was
higher quality, smaller like most glitter. You know, when you're
spraying glitter. Well, tell everybody, I'm telling your story. But
(24:09):
this is another different aspect of his paint that goes
a little above what you're going to find in the
traditional body shop or in the traditional paints that are
out there, and I mean even higher quality and paints.
He just does something a little unique. And here's another
quality of it. Go ahead and tell everybody what you
do with the flake?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Did you in there?
Speaker 5 (24:31):
So the flake? You know, that's how we started the business,
sunning metal flake, you know, And I did well, and
I promised I was never going to get into chemicals,
just because all the red tapes and we sold flake,
and then we started selling the dry ingredients, the pigments
you know, for you to well. People just didn't know how,
you know, people were just not comfortable doing. And then
I said, you know, I had my own mixing bank here,
(24:51):
and I would I've always made custom colors for myself,
for my own cars or customer cars. And someone said, hey, means,
can you make me a couple of cool colors? I
made colors and eventually when we got bigger and we
had more space and more capital, I can I started
investing residents. And since we don't have investors, we don't
have stock shareholders, we don't have any any big corporate
(25:15):
person over us saying hey, we need to cut cut
our expenses and make more gross profit, make more money.
To me, I say, hey, look, this is what it's
going to cost to make if you want to pay this,
this is what you're going to pay for Carter. It's
a boutique. You know. We're not a We're not your
fast food restaurant type of tea. We're like that little
hole in the wall place that makes the best smash
burgers type of me. My god, yeah, that's it's it's
(25:39):
that's the best example I can tell you. You know, we're
not the guys that sell a million burgers in a year.
You know, We're not those or a billion burgers, whatever
that case is. We're the guys that you go and
you're like, yo, man, I want Kobe Beef, I want
that one off thing, and you're like, holy crap, this
is amazing. This is what we do. Really.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
We started with the metal flakes man, and then we
just kind of progressed and we had I mean, people
just grab onto what it is and nothing big. We
were just doing our thing on social media, posting stuff.
And I think, like the same thing I tell everybody.
If you do good work and you stand behind your
work and you're a person of a man of your word,
(26:19):
and you're reliable and you're straight up real, recognize is real.
And people start catching on and say, yo, this this
guy's what's up, especially that I paint. I painted cars
for a big portion of my life. I restored a
crap load of cars.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Smaller at the same time.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Oh yeah, so on the flake, I forgot about that. Yes,
on the flake, metal flake was already out there, and
I made them thinner. So we worked, yeah, way thinner.
So what happens is I worked with an amazing company
that was able to sit down with me and listen
to my crazy idea and obviously take my money at
the same time because they're doing me a service. We
(26:57):
made them half a Milton. So a paint job on
the car might have two to three meals in clear cove,
maybe two mills and pain and primer and all that whatever.
But metal flake or glitter was always made out of
aluminum originally, and then we ended up working with the
company that would make it out of plastic. And then
I said, hey, how thin can you guys make it
(27:18):
before melts when you're cutting it, And we were able
to have them make it half a meal, so it's
super thin so when you sprayed, it doesn't give you
a loud texture. And that was one of the reasons
we got a lot of traction in the market because
everybody was shooting metal flake and they're like, man, this sucks.
It's really hard. And I remember the struggle as a painter,
(27:39):
even though I was good at it, but in the
same token, I wanted to open it up. Yeah, yeah,
same thing. Have you seen Listen, there's a dude on Instagram.
It's called the FRC Custom Shops right there out of Utah,
and he used to work at Condicted Design. He was
the painter. So when you would watch Discovery Channel on
all this, he was the main guy on there. So
he opened up his own shop. Look at the pain
(28:01):
jobs he's painting. He's painting this gorgeous Mustang in our
candy base court, our seductive red. You think when the
car is done, you think it's candy and it's not
it's a it's a base coat. You shoot over a
black stealer. And we've made a lot of colors. We've
had guys that paint in the garage with very little experience.
If any call us off, we give them a rundown.
And they've pulled off slawless pain jobs just following our
(28:24):
directions of buying our you know, buying the pain the
pier that we off for the whole nine yards and
you look at it and you're like, man, this looks
like a twenty thousand dollars pain job. And it's a
guy that did in his garage.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Yeah. Nowad, he's gonna be a thirty thousand dollars job
out here pretty much.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
Yeah, So we'll give you an idea. We're in the
Peterson Museum. Dude, if you go to Cali right now,
if you go to California and Peters, have you heard
of the Peterson Museum?
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Been there?
Speaker 5 (28:48):
Oh gorgeous, Right, one of my favorite things I go
to every time.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
That yeah, amazing.
Speaker 5 (28:54):
Yeah, So all the cars that are in there. We
have a whole exhibit or mini hoods and we have
we've been blessed to have four cars in that exhibit
completely covered from head to toe with our paint. That's
in the exhibit right now. And then we sponsored We
ended up doing a whole mini hood you know when
you go down the stairs down the center. Yeah, all
those mini hoods are all from our sponsored artists, a
(29:16):
portion of our sponsored artists and our paint, and those
are the hoods that we made in house for them.
But dude, I mean.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Speaks volumes, right, yeah, man, just.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
Little for will you be to get our paint on
his cards?
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Well, hey, here's you know, it brings me a point.
So you know my boy Tom, he runs Mobile Environmental Solutions.
He always puts up a booth at SEEMA. Last year
he talked to me about getting the transam I have
in there, But it's just getting parts and pieces for
it in time with it has just been too much
for me to paint that one. But I've been working.
I got a buddy, Mike and I was telling Doug here.
(29:52):
Mikey is a you know, a friend, a KPI family member.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
He had a kid.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
They used to always show up at our rock and
roll cars show, Manny. Our rock and roll car show
was nuts bro Vandamir shut down last year, so we
haven't done it. We're waiting for Vandon Meir fingers crossed
open up again. That's another discussion. However, we're talking bro
fifteen hundred, you know, two thousand cars, fifteen twenty thousand people,
(30:20):
and it was just grudge racing all day, cool car show.
We set the world record for most cars doing simultaneous burnout,
but they rested a record, but if they ever print again,
it will be us.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
That's on there. Babies, we're birth yeah, yeah, we had.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
We had a baby berth up there once, like it's
a nutty crazy cool car show. And this kid used
to race everybody. He was on a minibike and he
would race just lap after lap after lap after lab
at the lap. Anyway, we lost Cayden Caiten was his
name in December. Oh no, it's maybe October, but we
(30:55):
lost him into last year and I got this van
that Mike he was fixing up for Caden. So anyway,
long story short, we put a three forty in it.
We should fire that thing up today, but all the
body work is it's like ninety five percent done. So anyway,
Tom hit me up from Mobile Environmental Solutions and he's like, hey, Willy,
(31:16):
put something in my booth. Paint something into booth. I
got one of his booth. He's like, paint something in
my booth, and let's put it in my booth at
Sema and you know, we'll show the steps and do
a video on it, and that'd be on display at Sema.
So my question is, you know, I don't feel like
I'm a good enough painter to paint a Seama vehicle.
(31:36):
Like I'm painted a few cars and he turned out
good knocking wood. I don't want to I don't want
to curse myself. But if I get a good a
better painter than me to assist in it, how difficult
is it for guys that you know don't have necessarily
the paint boosts solid But guys that, like you said,
(31:57):
maybe aren't painting every day for a living. However, maybe
a guy I get will be So I.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Get him to do it.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
But you provide steps and little help and a little
assist there on spraying that and in the flake because
it would be something blue, so you got some crazy blues,
but it has to be something in your blue line,
which you know. I know I've seen a couple of
colors in their due their dynamic.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Dude. Yeah, man, we we know. We tell people it's
when you call our business line. It says, if you're
never paint any and you want me to hold your hands,
go on YouTube. And I mean it. But I said,
I say joking because we've had a couple of people
that have had no they don't even know what paint
gun is. And I go, guys, you know, let's do it.
I'll teach you, right right.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
I've got a few videos of YouTube.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, but but we we really do
go you know. And the people that are on technical service,
besides myself, they're all painters. They're all friends of mine.
I said, hey, man, come on board. I can I
can float you, I can pay you. Let's do it.
But yeah, we if you have just a desire to
have a bad ass car, we're there to help you.
And as long as you you you know, we give
(33:03):
you some really simple instructions to stuff to follow.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
It's not rocket is so key man, because you can
stripe it so easy. But yours is a But yours
is like a base.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Code, right, yeah, we have we have a lot of stuff.
We have a base code option where you shoot a
base code first that matches the metal flake, and you
can pep round, you can stripe the metal flake. You'll
never tell because the basecote underneath is such a perfect match.
And then when you shoot clear, you'll never see any
blotchiness because it's you can't see anything. Now, you'll see
(33:33):
the sparkle the metal flake. Yeah, but for you to
see the stripe, it's it's really, really, really hard.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Man.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
You have to have someone that's wearing new balances and
white sox and teams short stating on your car. You
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
I love that person who's just describe. Yeah, man, all right,
so that gives me, that gives me a little confidence.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
So yeah, man, I mean, bro, what kind of thing
you know? It's funny you said trying then you ever
heard of disco Dean?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yeah? Disco?
Speaker 5 (34:03):
Yeah, this so disco Dean's kind of like it's covered
our pinky painted that three or four years ago. He
has something coming up that we're making a really gorgeous
one off pink for him, and bro, wait till you
see it, dude. It's gonna be phenomenal, man, And it's
funning almost take it. So transam. The next car he's
gonna pop up with.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, those are starting to rate click up a little
in value. I think that's gonna be a big collector
for long trains, as long as you swap out of the
dry train because they.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Were regardless junk, right, But that is a.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Cool car from that era. Nothing really was cool back
in the late seventies early eighties.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
Well, I remember sitting there was my sister and my
older sisters dated these dudes. And then one guy had
an LT was a seventy seven LT, and we were
driving somewhere and hopped in the backage. I gotta stop
at the gas station. Stopped the gas station. He had
air shocks. I had no idea what airshocks. Trunks back
and I'm like, okay, now this is cool and.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Airshocks. Man. We all had him at one point, we
all made guilty.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Well, Manny, it's amazing way you've taken the company, and
obviously it shows and for anybody out there, you know,
thinking about, hey, maybe I should throw some color on this,
maybe you know, and look, it's one of those things
where he can provide you an amazing job and amazing
results out of a spray can you guys, it is
(35:22):
it's hard to sort of wrap your head around that
because so many people are thinking, you know, the can
of spray paint, get a Walmart.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Let's just be honest.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
But he has got he has got such an unbelievable
high quality can, high quality spray how you lay it
out in an unbelievable clear So all of this available
in a way that everybody could use it. You don't
need a fancy spray gun. You don't need you know,
a compressor and a.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Dryer and a gun like you know you set up
I have, or you know some painter has or whatever
you can.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
You can get these jobs done just you know, just
with a spray can, which is really I mean, it
makes everybody have had that luxury, some really crazy cool flips,
some really cool accents, and you're you're able to do
it just in your own shop, garage, backyard, wherever.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Yeah. Every color we make that's available in a gallon.
Every color we make really is available in a spray can,
ano little bottle for airbrushing or touch up, you name it, dude.
The other day, I'll make this real quick. The other
day a guy hit me up. All right, I didn't
talk to him directly, one of my guys, and he says,
I'm gonna paint my mercury. He had like a fifty
one chop top in spray camp, and we're like, don't
(36:34):
do that. We don't recommend that, Like we recommend this
for like small stuff, you know, like suspension, you know.
So the guy ordered like forty something spray can and
I'm like, bro, it's cheaper just by the painting whatever.
He sends us a message on Facebook, Hey, check out
my car, and my guys come to me, go many,
you won't believe this. Look at this. They go, all right,
(36:55):
well it's pretty cool mark and you know it has
two tone scallops. I mean it looks dope goes all
with our spray cans. And I say, no way, shut
the door and get out of my office. I don't
believe it. The dude, the car looks phenomenal, man, And
you know we were against it because I'm I'm I
preferred a spray with a spray.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Many amazed, amazed.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
How phenomenal you're talking about. It's not a little car.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
A car, yeah, big panel, big car, bro, dude.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
If I if I send you the pictures, you won't
believe it. Like I did a walk around, yeah, and
I was like, oh crap, this is this is pretty
I'm impressed, bro, And I don't get impressed very easy.
I was impressed. I was like, what is this? This
looks phenomenal and uh and that's what I tell people.
Don't do that. But it tells you that if you
(37:45):
really want to do it, and you do it right
and you have the right tools, you can make it happen.
You know what I'm saying. And uh, we Yeah, it
is not a home deeple product or it's not a
it's a premium spray can. It has a premium price
because all the work that into it.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
You know what, well will you see the dissected can.
You wouldn't believe the amount of technology in it.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
So it really, dude, it's it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
We got some other stuff in the works for next
year in that market for aerosols to make it even
better for everybody. But I mean, we're just trying to
We're just trying to make it fun for everybody to have.
You know, we just want people to get their cars
on the road and not be hindered by I don't
you know, they do all the mechanical work. They try
to do all the body work, but then when it
comes to paint, paints of fortune, bro, Yeah, gall on
(38:31):
a paint at a paint store right now. Depending what
you get, you're going to spend well thirteen hundred dollars
for a gam yeah, with no reduce or no.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Day if not more. Yeah, two grand normal.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
But you know what's funny is cars make Colors make colors,
and wheels make cars. Absolutely, I don't care what anybody says.
It could be the ugliest car. And if it's the
right color, yeah, the right wheels and.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
The right money.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
Yeah yeah, dude, dude, look at it. What they do
to these old school pontiacs, like the old cicky Steep
Pontiacs that you look at like an electro and all that,
and they turn into these beautiful customs because they have
the right paint, the right stance and wheels, and you're like, wow,
this car look's actually pretty cool. Yeah, But when you
look at it stock, you're like, right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
(39:15):
yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
How do people keep up? Check you out online?
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Follow through all tropical glitz dot com.
Speaker 5 (39:25):
So we've got tropical glitz dot com for the website
tropical blitz dot and that same thing we own both
YouTube is tropical blitz TikTok Instagram I mean X or Twitter,
whatever you want to call it. Everything's tropical blitz across
the board, and we have different on each platform. We
show different things. But Instagram, I tell people on Facebook,
(39:47):
tropical blitz, you're kind of really you're you're right there,
lives whatever happens, what goes down, You'll see it right
there and.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Then see awesome. Man, Well, dude, thanks for spending a
little time with us on your vacation.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Yeah, bro, love brother, Matt love Man. It's always good
catch you.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
Yeah, man, hit me up for next time. Guys, Guys,
I have a great one a brother, man.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Take care.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Man.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
It does make a sick product. Man.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
We use some of it on the show, and I
just hit it off with them. And you know, when
I'm thinking about Mikey's van reason behind it, I'm like,
you know what, maybe some of that some of that.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Blue that he has would be cool.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
He wants like a B five blue, but he could
do crazy like you mentioned, you know, you can give
him a color and he does. He mentioned that flake.
You wouldn't believe the difference in what that does and
now and now, most paints still have that one millimeter
thick you know, bigger flake and it's thicker and it's
harder to spray. It lays out a little different. Well,
(40:43):
he's made it like, you know, a tenth of that.
It's unbelievable. It's just raise or razor thin. And it's
one of those things where you can't really you can't
understand until you see it in the paint, because it
gives you a lot lot more death. It's just another
step that would cost a lot more. But most companies
don't need to do it, so therefore why would they.
They want to save a penny where they can. And
(41:05):
he just goes a little bit above and goes, okay,
well this makes a little bit of a difference. And man,
you see it in some of his paints and some
of the other things he's able to do. And the
way he's able to if you put this certain sealer
on it and then pop this color on it, how
it brings some of it out and the pops. It
really is just amazing stuff. And so much of it
transitions over to a spray can.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
It's crazy. Spring an entire car with a spray can.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
It's nice, so honest guy, Me and my buddy Mike
did this. One time we bought a suburban. It was
like a seventy two suburban and it was just a ragamuffin.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
It was in a backyard. So we washed it. We
scuffed it down with like you know, three thousand and
we bug bomb that bitch like straight up Chevy blue,
you know what.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
Surprisingly not because we cleared it too. It was better
than what it was. And we would just try to
wash it and clean it. So from a you know,
twenty feet it looked money. A little, it looked money, dude.
I had a couple of holes in the court. Don't
ever do this. But you know that expanding.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
Phone, I've seen that done, dude.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
That dad did some of that, did the expanding phone,
and and heed to shave it off with the cheese
grater and he covered some bondo like that.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
You you working all the panel not to see here
that bitch. I've been lasting three or four years. Oh
that stuff's hardy. It lasts for a while.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Now.
Speaker 7 (42:24):
I had I bought a fifty six for one hundred
that the rear fenders were done like that, and I
was like, what is this and I punched. I'm like,
I took it the bottle. He's like, that's spray poam.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
Bro. Yeah, well you know that happens. It works.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Hey tonight, if you guys aren't doing anything, I'm hosting
Circle Drags the Karra Nestl Speedway. Now look, I'll tell
you this. You may have seen on social media. There
was this awesome video my buddy who I see after
all time in Circle Drags everything before, and he's gone
from I think he used to race the Super ru uh.
But he got himself an older school Corvette and it's
(42:57):
that blue Anniversary edition fiftieth or sixtieth anniversary edition Corvette
and he just handed it to a Tesla truck.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Tesla truck got out in.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Front of him and he actually got around him through
turn three and four. And that last I saw had
like six or seven million views.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
It was nuts, and I saw that all yeah, you
see that.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Everybody's like, ah, so that's going on tonight. Circle Drags
of a CNS That's where it was last time. It
is a blast if you want.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
To get in. They let anybody race anything and then
straight wild West. It's one of the last places.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
You could do this saw some So you just basically
you want to race your F two fifty or a
Mustang gt R Corvette or your you know, your Tesla, Cyberchruck, whatever. Man,
you can sign up and can go out there and
raise there's a big old cool trophy, uh, you know,
to take home and brag about. But it just gives
you a chance to go out there and you be
(43:50):
Caya for a minute. It's always fun and it's just
a blast because you never know what you're gonna get
lined up against or you know who's gonna be out
there racing. It's something to seeing something spect So if
you want to get in on that, do so today.
You may want to call him or get online the
reserve spot, or as soon as you get there go
sign up. It's right as the on the right hand
side at that little tower or whatever when you first
(44:12):
go in.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
But it is something else.
Speaker 5 (44:13):
Man.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
If you've never done it, highly recommend it because it's awesome.
It's a blast. Sounds like something i'd do. Oh yeah,
oh have you never done it? Never shut up? I'm shocked.
I'm stunned. All right, maybe I'll do it tonight. Oh
my god, dude, I can't believe you have. It is
a blast.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
I used to mop them up in my bet after
my BMW a couple times.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Did my road Runner once? Hmm.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
So yeah, man, it's fun. It's look, it's a blast.
So yeah, it's if you've never done it, you really
need to come check it out. But amen, you're here,
tell me a little bit about it. So Doug in
his world has really it's nuts man, because when it
comes to cool cars, he's had. You know, Pattic Imports
Forever really knows a lot about the BMW world. A
(44:56):
BMW is it's wild how that car has become the
young there's hot rod, isn't.
Speaker 7 (45:00):
They Oh the B fifty eight and the S fifty
eight motors and they're fifteen hundred horsepower deals, isn't that crazy?
Speaker 3 (45:07):
It's insane?
Speaker 7 (45:07):
And BMW well, it's a BMW Honda or Toyota. That
was cool belt with Toyota, that that B fifty eight,
that architecture. But the cars are taken off. And you know,
if you're if you're eighteen years old and you got
a credit score over like by fifty, you can get
yourself a three thirty five and and you got yourself
a turbocar, right, and you pop them up and they
get faster and faster and they and you know, they
(45:28):
have their problems for sure, oiling problems. You know, oil leaks,
because they all do. Because it's a beamer.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (45:34):
God, they leak like crazy and they do it. It's
kind of a funny story why they leak. But that's
a different story.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
They suck and look, they over engineered because they're freaking
German good.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
They over engineer everything like that.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
I got a BMW, we got donated from lay dealerships
and I swear man this BMW has that active swaybar deal.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Where they they they damp in the swaybar. They can
adjust the sway bar depending.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
On you know, sport mode or you know, whether you're
crashing canyons or a road course or just rolling down
the highway and you want some smooth and buttery.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
It's nutty.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
It's an actus wavebar. But it is such a point
of failure. It is such a crazy leak point.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
We have pix stupid, we have fixes for that. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (46:20):
So it's a very common deal for those to leak,
but they get expensive for sure. Yeah, we've been doing
that for a while. I've been doing that since ninety
nine and it's been good to us. It's we've grown
quite a bit.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
And did you're the go to place the lady that
brings our comics scene. It's like I go to Paddiganports.
It's just yesterday. We have a very large client base.
I'm very fortunate.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
So it's the spot for BMW's. But honestly, got BMW's
have become such a collectible car and such a great platform.
They are great cars, Like you can't argue that those
things have you know, significant power, great performance. You know,
I think the most winning chassis on earth is that thirty.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
Yeah, the thirty is the most winning chassis in the world.
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Yeah, it's just insane the number of victories and wins
that that car has and just the you know, the
amount of R and D in that thing. Look, they
got a great company, great cars, great performance, and you know,
they got a big mood swing with the younger generation
right now, which makes them, you know.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Have a lot of viability. I got I got a
little off story.
Speaker 7 (47:26):
You were talking about the thirty six or the E
and E thirty six is in shoreroom stock racing, they
didn't allow.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
Abs for the first couple of years.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
So BMW devised a pendulum that sat in the passenger
seat with two master cylinders on it that as the
car would turn, it would lighten the inboard break to
put the pressure on the inboard break to keep the
break from cut breaking loose. You would turn to the right,
it would do the same thing there. It's on I
found it on TikTok. I had no idea it existed,
and it was the most ingenious way to circumvent abs.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
Not have abs, but it would turn.
Speaker 7 (47:54):
You turn to the right, net lightens the inside time
turn it left, lightens the inside tie.
Speaker 3 (47:57):
Wow. So it's kind of.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Cool engineered through the roof, and it's just it's one
of those things, man, where you saw it come through
on the race course and just different dynamic things that
gave them just a little edge over everybody else. And
that's why, you know, that's why they have such a
reputation today, that's why they're doing, you know so well.
So on top of that, you know, you have a
lot of just knowledge and other platforms, some you know,
(48:21):
some home Base, some of the Chevrolet platforms, some of
the Dodgers, some of the forwards, definitely, you know some
of the audies, some of the BMW stuff. I gotta
tell you, man, we're gonna talk to Jeff in just
a minute from the Lway dealership. He runs a Chevrolet
on Broadway and they're one of the first allocations for
this VR one. They dropped the numbers of this VR
(48:44):
one the other day and it just stunned everybody.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
It makes no sense, but it's awesome. It really is.
It is an unbelievable leap in horsepower performance, even from
their z O six, which was a statement in its
own right. The ZR one. Man, this thing is it's.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
A whole lot of while Like when you hear the
numbers and just some behind the scenes conversations, talks and
some of the videos on how they really attack turbo
lag and things like that.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
Is kind of mind blowing.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
So we're gonna get into that just a little bit.
And here's what's this is gonna be interesting. The ticket
price for that car. You know what, they're trying to
put that price.
Speaker 7 (49:30):
At IDA one hundred and fifty. Shut up, yeah, okay,
I'm buying a Corvette, right.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
How can you pass up that car at So there's
gonna be a dealer market obviously, but it's fifty so
so you could think about that. Let's say hypothetically one
hundred and fifty, let's say there's dealer markups.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
Although I think there.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
There is some conversations about that not happening. Y. Yeah,
we'll see. It's gonna be interesting. But that car at
that price, how can and they say they're gonna make
as many.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
As they can.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
They're like, oh, there's no limit, Like the Demon one
seventies there were three thousand, right the g GTD that, Well,
they're gonna live with those three thousand I think is
the number of those. So Corvette Chevrolet said we're gonna
make as many of these as we could sell.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
So I love that. Is that not insane?
Speaker 7 (50:27):
Well, it's funny because when that came out, I literally
sent a text to my buddy and I sent the
link to him. I said, somebody finally did it. They
finally did it on pump gas and just sell it
to the public. That thing's a weapon. Oh, a weapon.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
It's nuts.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
So we'll have a conversation with Jeff about that. Jeff
and the guys that the LA Group always help out
with cars for Christmas, and look it's officially first Saturday
in August. And moving forward, this is when me and
you know the guys tend to start rallying the cars,
start moving things and shaking things for cars for Christmas.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
I know it's crazy this far.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Out, but this is when most of the work, you know,
begins and happens. And from this moment forward, there's a
lot of cars for Christmas in my house. So uh,
from a boys out there, Scott and Robert and Brian
and we missed out justin last year a lot, but
Chris tends to help out a lot, and you know,
Mike a few other guys. It's uh, look, it's one
(51:21):
of those things where a lot of dudes give a
lot of hours and a lot of dedication.
Speaker 6 (51:26):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Cars for Christmas is a big program, uh for us here,
and it's something that we just absolutely adore doing. So
we'll talk to Jeff because they always help. They're always
just the people go above and beyond. So a little
conversation about that as well, since well it's that time, man,
it's crazy, all right, break we're back on it. So
I'll said a nine KVPI Willy Bee's garage, Willy Bee's.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Garage fell back in Willybe's garage.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Some guys will best garage. But your Saturday afternoon, spend
a little time with us. We have Doug Pattick in here.
Paddick m forts always good catching up with Doug. We're
talking a little well just this time of year. Man,
some unbelievable things happened in the last week. So here
we are this reset for a second first Saturday in August.
And for a lot of people that are close to me,
(52:19):
you know that I would consider you know, some of
my best friends. That means big, deep breath, because moving forward,
Wednesdays and weekends get real busy for us. It's the
beginning for us of cars for Christmas. And it's funny
because periodically I'll get stories, hear things, and it's happened
(52:41):
this year several times. You know, about two and a
half months ago, gave Way car to a lady who
was just into buying so bad she couldn't wait till Christmas.
So it happens throughout the year. But really with the
help of the Lway dealerships and the guy that joins
us right now on the phone. Several years back, about
six years ago, I was. You know, I was probably
(53:02):
given away that around that thirty mark, that thirty five
marks somewhere that ballpark. And then I just partnered up
with some really great guys.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
And some really unbelievable teams. And I will tell.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
You, without these these people, in this mechanism, and without
a handful of my friends cars for Christmas would have
died a long time ago, because I'm.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Just a guy, and you know, I got two kids.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Now I can't I haven't even got my cars to
fixed yet, but I've already fixed a few buddies cars.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
And you know, it's all about priorities.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
However, these guys at the LA Dealership Group, these guys
have never ever even like question or even they They
have stepped up to a degree that is just unbelievable.
And I mean to the point where they have never
charged me for a car. They help in every situation
(53:54):
with every sort of like I've given cars away there
and they've seen it, watched it, and witnessed a miracle
that mobility can give to a family, can transition to
family right on the cusp of you know, falling into
a big deep heart to get out of RHTT or
just coming out of that dusting themselves off and going,
oh my god, my whole world has changed. And these
(54:15):
guys had been there and witnessed the dynamic change in
somebody's world when they walk out with a key to
an unbelievable car, and because they have such big hearts,
I'm so thankful and so fortunate these guys have plugged
into the mechanism of this cars for Christmas and Jeff
to you, to Todd, you guys are really the ring
(54:37):
leaders of it all. And shout out to Kai, who
I've had on before of at the BMW store. Man,
you guys have made such an impact over the years.
You know, before COVID.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
We were ramped up like seventy cars, so it's been
crazy and what a wild ride.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
But really, you guys have really taken it to a
point where it's just beyond what I could do just alone.
And I'm so so fortunate and thankful for this relationship
to have you guys in the corner.
Speaker 6 (55:09):
Thank you, Willie, and you're really You're really the one.
We're just we're just there to support you if it
wasn't for your vision and you know, the realization of
what mobility or lack thereof really does to families and peoples, which,
like you just said, I've seen firsthand thanks to you,
and some of it's been just life changing to witness.
(55:31):
So we're just it's a no brainer to support the cause,
and it's a no brainer to support you with your
passion for this, and Todd and I and the rest
of the group or we're just thrilled to be part
of it.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
Yeah, man, just how cool they are.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
They make it such a part of the their mechanism
and their whole you know, their structure. Even some of
them Chinni guys have called me. You know, a guy
called a couple weeks ago and he's like, hey, Willie,
I got a car for you. It's one of mine
we're not using anymore. I'll bring it up here and
when we start loading cars, consider this one yours. And
I was like, dude, how cool is that that their staff,
(56:05):
their salespeople, their team is really all about it. And
that really, man, that shows how important the community is
for these guys, because you know, there's a chance they
may never see anything from a car they give and
that we fix up and give. But damn well, every
year these guys are ready willing and able to do
it and give more than you could ever imagine. And
(56:28):
they really do make the difference, because, let's be honest,
the car count would be you know, nothing compared, you know,
to what it is now if it weren't for these
guys and how they help. And I'll be honest, the
cars we get are so much nicer from these guys
than what we normally have the luxury of working on.
(56:48):
So it's been a blessing in two ways. That just
gives the person on the other end something to be
more proud of. And really that's what it is. When
you see these people able to work and able to
take their kids to the you know, the school or
to the doctor or you know, their parents somewhere. What
a sense of pride and self worth they have from
you know, honestly walking out.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
I never forget.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
There's two stories that always stand out to me when
it comes to cars for Christmas, and I think Jeff
was here for one of them. Several years ago. I
had some people up here and they didn't know they
were getting cars. And one of the ladies, the mom knew,
but the rest of the family didn't. And one of
the kids, his name was Davey This little kid is
like nine or ten years old, and he was one
(57:30):
of the kids that they left.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
He was the main kid they left behind.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
So they only had a little saturn and they would
go to like Walmart, and they had like seven kids,
eight kids, and so they left him everywhere they went
to watch over the groceries that they couldn't carry, or
to you know, stay with their little brother while they
took one group home from shopping or a school shopping
or whatever and so forth. So they never could go
anywhere as a family. So I said to the kid.
(57:55):
I talked to his mom and she was very joyous
in receiving a car, but to a ten year old kid,
imagine you're this ten year old kid, I said, if
you ever been car shopping?
Speaker 3 (58:05):
He just laughed, like, please car shop him.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
And I'm like, I handed him a bag of keys,
because we moved about thirty five cars to the back
lode of the rail station, and in those thirty five
cars were about six mini vans. And I never forget,
I said, here are the keys out of minivans. Here's
the keys the pickup trucks. Here are the keys the
four doors. Will you pick you're going shopping? Whatever you choose,
(58:30):
mama is going to get. And I didn't give mama choice.
I said, he's picking out the car because he's the
kid that inherently suffered the most. He's the kid that's
gonna remember it. The other kids were too young to
So he's the kid that's gonna remember that, right, So
giving him the ability to pick out their next car,
you know what, he went for the minivans. He ran
straight to a white mini van that was donated by
(58:53):
this this guy right here, Jeff, from the Ailway Chevrolet
dealership right there on Broadway. They donated this minivan and
I forgot what it was. It was like it had
stickers on it, It had like it was like a
I don't even know all you got donated. It was
like a courtesy van for some company for.
Speaker 6 (59:08):
Like a it was I think it was from our
other stories that we used to have in careally and
we got it from them and it was it was
their shuttle.
Speaker 2 (59:16):
Oh okay, yeah, and dude, it was so well maintained.
We did a few things suspension, uh, fix some leaky
vow covers on it. But that kid went straight for
the mini vans. He went straight for that white one
because the captain's share behind the driver's seat, and he
hopped in and said, this is Davy c this is
my seat. I'm never being left again, and this is
(59:38):
the seat. He claimed that seat, and it had you know,
three more rows and just all kinds of you know,
ample room to get the whole family around. But it
was so cute and significant to allow him just that
moment because he just knew in that moment he was
never gonna get left behind again. So for a kid
who's nine or ten, you gotta imagine, you know, it's
(59:58):
huge because you know it's a thing where she had
three or four kids. He had three kids, so you know,
his family comes together. It's a big family. If you
don't have a saturn, you're not getting that family, you know,
to and from. So it's just amazing that given the
guy that I gave a Chevy envoy to who used
to walk his kids. He was a machinist and he
walked everywhere, this kid, this guy showed up with duct
(01:00:20):
tape all over his boot because he'd walked holes in
the soul and he would just just roll duct tape
in it. And he was a public you know, transportation guy.
He would walk about a mile and a half, get
a public transportation like a bus, to get a light rail,
then walk another two miles to work.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
And he did this every.
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Day, relentlessly, rain shine, sleet, snow, regardless of temperature. His
family had a lot of them, and he was responsible
for every mouth and he just couldn't do anything but work.
He couldn't get the money get a car because it
just was too big of a payment for him, too
big of a hurdle. So I give him a Chevy Envoy.
And they used to take family walks to the Safeway,
(01:00:58):
which is two miles from these, so he bundled. This
is Christmas time. He was bundling his kids up the
weekend after he got the car, and he was bundling
his kids up to go for this two mile walk.
And his daughter, who's like, you know, nine or something,
said that, I don't know why we gotta bundle up
while we gotta walk. When we got a car. Now
(01:01:19):
he forgot he got a car, and he was like,
oh my god, oh my god, we got a car.
So he'd forgotten he had to ride. And what a
difference that made because it was snowy, it was rainy,
he had a you know, a four wheel drive Chevy
Envoy that he had turned on, let warm up, heated seeds,
(01:01:39):
and again another car donated by you guys at the
Lway group.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
So it's insaneing impacts. It's always a big shift.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
And those kids and those adults and the grandparents, every
mouth and life that's affected by these cars. And nobody
has had the impact on this program like you, like Todd,
and like your dealerships have had some severely thankful for it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
I'm humbled by it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
And if you guys are thinking about trading up, if
you're thinking about, you know, hey, man, I want to
upgrade my car, or if you're looking just for a
great car with a great team, to buy a car
with these guys, this is a testament to them. Their
turnover rate is no and void. They don't have there's
people that have been there and have worked there for
thirty plus years.
Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
I went to their.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Christmas dinner and they have tons of people that have
been there for fifteen, twenty five, eighteen, twelve years.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
It's nuts.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Nobody ever leaves that place and tells you a lot
about how it is working for environment. Right if you
go to a place has a lot of turnover. Something's
not right, there's something, there's bad chemistry, blood energy, whatever
you want to call it. Nobody leaves once they start
working there, and that's because they thoroughly enjoy working for
a great team, great people.
Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
And really they take care of the customers.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
You see that in every transaction they do and every
you know, relationship they build. So if you're looking at
trading in, trading up, thinking about a new ride, maybe
thinking about getting you know, getting money on that new corvette, man,
we got to talk about that. Jeff, how has how
has that release that? The numbers were just unbelievable When
they said one thousand and sixty four horse power, I
(01:03:24):
thought it was, honest to god, I thought it was
a joke. I thought it was somebody that was making
some bs up online and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I'm like, no way can they do that.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Not only is it a one thousand and sixty four
horse power, it's eight hundred and twenty eight foot pounds
of torque, it's a twin turbo, and it's unbelievable because
there is zero turbo lag. The video they have online
goes into this crazy description how they just eliminated turbo
lag and I got to tell you, man, how many
phone calls did you get? And how did that car
(01:03:55):
start just awakening all these Corvette fans from all over
to try to get their hands on one. Imagine that
was huge, right, Yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (01:04:04):
Mean it's it's like you said. And by the way,
thank you for the kind of things you said about
our group. We appreciate that. But but yeah, Chevrolet has
just hit it out of the park again and again
and again with the new mid engine C eight since
twenty twenty, and they keep getting better. Z six is
a revelation. I mean that's a little under seven horse
(01:04:26):
seven hundred horsepower as it's ridiculous, right, and there's a
waiting list ten miles long. Then you've got the E rate,
which is going to be a hybrid which they're now
producing and and it's also just mind boggling. And now
you've got the zero one. So it's good and bad.
It's good because you know, this is our flagship brand
(01:04:47):
and our halo car, and we're proud of it. And
it's bad because there's probably I could say, five hundred
people that want to give me deposits for a car
that I'll maybe get two or three and I wish
I could get them all, sell them all and see
the joy when they start that end.
Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
Hey, seriously, so limited is that?
Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
How many requests and how many people called asking or
inquiring about this car?
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Are you serious? Shut?
Speaker 6 (01:05:16):
I'm serious, And it's about all we've been we've been doing,
and you know, we've got some other vehicles that are
phenomenal to sell that are available now, but we're spending
a lot of time. I'm not complaining. But here's some
quick numbers. I'm just looking this up. They're estimating they're
going to produce maybe four thousand, forty five hundred of
these over a short four year run. And there's about
(01:05:37):
twenty nine hundred Chevy dealerships in America. If you do
the math, that's about one point five per dealership. Let's
say we get two point five because we're bigger. That
doesn't satisfy five hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
People, no, man.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
So yeah, you know, I know they can't produce them
as fast as they want they want to because all
the detail goes into it. But you know, it's weird
because I know they're not planning on releasing this car
until twenty twenty five, So you know, people were forgetting
the Z six, those numbers, those cars just became you know,
readily available, and that in its own right is a
(01:06:13):
beast of a machine too. You said just under seven
hundred horsepower, but just the base model Corvette alone is
the fastest five hundred horsepower car ever rode in. And
you know, I'm I'm a Dodge guy, you know, at heart,
although you know I do on some cheval as, just
the base model as far as five hundred horsepower car goes,
(01:06:33):
the Z six, I got to drive one of them before,
and just the red match and everything they throw from
the tracks, control to the stability to assist, Dude, that
car is ungodly.
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
I've only got to ride it, drive it hard one time,
but that was mind blowing what that car is able
and capable of doing for anybody that's interested in just
that platform at just under seven hundred so to think
ZR one at one thousand and sixty four and eight
hundred and twenty eight foot pounds of torque, Dude, that
(01:07:06):
car that is such a I mean, my buddy Doug
Pattick here, he does a lot of Lamborghini's and a
lot of fast outis what for a supercar guy. What
is when you hear Chevrolet come to the plate with
something like that, are you blown away?
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
Or are you're like, oh wow too? No, somebody really
made him mad, is what happened? You know? So it's
a SPIKEE build.
Speaker 7 (01:07:26):
Those things are SPIKEE builds, and I love them because
we can make all the EV's we want.
Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
But we're gonna knock your Yeah, man, no, that's awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:07:33):
I think it's like I said, they somebody finally did
it a thousand on pump and there's gonna be more.
Speaker 3 (01:07:40):
I guarantee you there's gonna be more.
Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
It's insane, isn't it When you're thinking about the power
that's available nowadays, and look added to the equation the
stability control and the traction control that comes into play nowadays.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
I get, man.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
I got to tell you these cars dynamically different than
the old school. You know, just mad him and try to,
you know, try to connect that tire as best as
possible without breaking traction and and you know that fine
line of hazen a little bit but not overpowering the track.
You don't have to worry about that nowadays because these
electronics are firing, you know, the data is thousands of
(01:08:18):
times a second. Right, it's monitoring and controlling traction and
stability and all these other things that are thrown down
into it. It makes look, it makes people very confident
in a very capable car. And if you got any
willing skill at all, if you're anything talented behind the wheel,
add to it the stability control and electronic control factors. Dude,
(01:08:40):
you have got one wicked machine. Like that is just
unguly power. And what's what's what to let people forget?
If they're giving us one thousand and sixty four horse
power eight hundred and twenty eight foot pounds of torque,
that is Chevy giving us that under warranty, that means
with a little bit of tune work. The margins that
(01:09:02):
they leave in their astronomical they're huge as far as
just being able to tune it and sneak in some
of those margins.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
And and you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Know what they do as far as line pressures and
timing and how they remove it out of shifts to
make the ride a little more comfy, even on a
corvette platform is significant. So you put a tune on
that thing and you're probably easily looking at eleven fifty
you know.
Speaker 7 (01:09:27):
Yeah, there's ten to fifteen percent just sitting there by accident.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
Yeah, so all these things will come into play really
fast when that car hits the streets. So that car
compared to I mean, I don't know, is there a
Lamborghini that's comparable?
Speaker 7 (01:09:42):
Well, factory, Well, the new Lamborghinis are coming out twin
Turbo Charts twenty twenty six, that's what are what are
they looking to be? Oh, they're I guaranteed they're gonna
over a thousand. Now really, why wouldn't they be?
Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
I mean, no Ir, Yeah, Corvette.
Speaker 7 (01:10:01):
I don't disagree. I mean, I guarantee you. Ferrari was like,
are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
Seriously?
Speaker 7 (01:10:06):
A Corvette again, because you guys built a forty eight
Pista I mean on steroids. I mean that's that's radical.
And for a fraction of the cost. Well, I want
to say fraction, but a part of that, I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:10:18):
I think THEE six is well, I mean I think
this year one is one ninety. There they're talking about
you can get into a sting Ray, which Willy said,
with five car will blow your mind for for brand new.
Speaker 7 (01:10:33):
Well, I will tell you about the Corvette as much
as I wanted to hate it. I drove one and
I was like, all right, I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
Yet it was so impressive.
Speaker 7 (01:10:42):
It was a sting ray and it was it had
some stuff done to it, not much, but I was
amazed the balance of the car and how the traction
dynamics to builder control.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
I have a GT five.
Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
Rev match on the six is unbelievable. Man, it is ungodly.
They've just got an amazing electronic control. Instability control factors
played into their you know, everything that's about the car
design and performance, and man, you can feel it and
it really will get you, get you so fur so
(01:11:13):
much further than what you're normally capable of driving. If
you just drop a thousand horse power in or re
will drive car and sit hang on. You know, this
thing can straight up get down and it can make
up for a lot of the insignificant thing the things
that we can't control. Like you know, I don't care
how good you are, you're gonna if you got a
thousand horse power, it's gonna be hard for you not
to overpower the track if you're just trying to mat it.
(01:11:33):
Whereas you know, you hit to thought of these things
and tracks and control and it. It just finds that
great little that line of friction coefficient, hazing the tires
a little bit, but everything moving as fast as possible
and and tracks as tight as possible. This car is
unbelievable on turns, how it navigates the rev match when
you're coming into a turn, you want to down shift
(01:11:54):
where it ports puts the rpm and power been at.
Speaker 3 (01:11:56):
If you're a road course guy, if you're a drag
race guy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
If you're just a autocross dude, just like driving and
parking the you know, a polting chair with a satin
jacket by your corvette.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
You're gonna love this thing. It's unreal. Well, new balances
came out with a bunch of new styles as well,
and why I.
Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Know why, Jeff, it's that desired. So what was you
said that the price is going to be around? Would
you say one ninety?
Speaker 6 (01:12:24):
Yeah, that's what I've been reading for a CR one
and then for a little more than half of that,
you can still get a brand new sting rate, which
again is really more than you'll ever need to start with.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
But yeah, and where's the Z six coming at?
Speaker 6 (01:12:39):
It depends how you build them. We've built a few
so far and they've been coming in right around one
fifty one fifty five for a really robust build.
Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
So crazy, man, I mean honestly, God, nowadays a pickup
chuck cost one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
But if you're thinking performance and cars, you know, small
for Miles Corvette, it's just a normally unbelievable platform. When
you really think about performance, it's mid engine that may
make such an impact to how quick you can you know,
you can whip that thing around a corner, to turn
a road course, how it dynamically changes your driving experience,
like to have that interes sit behind you. It's just wild, man,
(01:13:20):
it's just jeff for an average person, Well you jove
for you? Was it wild you know at first? Or
are you used to it from.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
D you know driven?
Speaker 7 (01:13:29):
You know mid engine cars, they're they're all you know,
they handle I don't want to say similarly, but they're
very predictable in that respect. But I'll tell you to
be able to down shift it and hear it and
it like you can feel it. It's like, uh, there's
a lot of feedback. It's a visceral and it's not.
Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
Horrible old school it's got that cargo and that rumble. Yeah,
just take you back.
Speaker 7 (01:13:50):
I was blown away that how balanced it was from
a standpoint that I could grab a shift and it
would just keep going and keep going and keep going,
and you make the gear change.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
It's hard to unsettle the car, That's what I know.
I tried twice and it's like, yeah, man, even.
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
To turns and down ship and what normally would you know,
heartbreaking in a turn or whatever. It's really hard to
upset the car. It's really hard to you know, shake it,
and it's just a riot.
Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
The drive. It just screamed it was to be driven.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
And I imagine that's the whole reason behind, you know,
five hundred people blowing up the phone's trying to get one.
Do you think, you know, do you think these things
you said four thousand? Do you think all of them
are gonna be sold before the first one's made?
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Well?
Speaker 6 (01:14:34):
Yeah, I mean I think all of them that are
gonna be sold. People already have deposits across the country
and dealerships, you know, accounts. There's unfortunately it's sad and
I hate but I don't know that you can wake
up today and say you're gonna buy one, you know
new I mean, of course the app you know, there'll
be used ones when people you know flip them. And
(01:14:55):
by the way, another thing I'll mention about us, is
she really you know we've never saw the single car
over MSRP.
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Yeah, yeah, man, these guys are a few places.
Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
Potentially bring one hundred thousand over MSRP for some dealers,
but that's not us.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Good on you, dude, Yeah, good on you. The ol
Way guys never ever do that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
So many dealerships will tack on a fifty sixty eighty
thousand dollars. You can see this car if they're only
making four thousand, you can see that car absolutely going
for seventy five to one hundred thousand dollars over MSRP.
And there's people in dealerships that will do that all
over the place. You'll never get that from Thelway group.
These guys refuse to put a search charge above MSRP.
(01:15:40):
And that really just again another statement that just quantifies
that really, these guys have always and will always go
above and beyond when other people won't, and it's not
always needed. They can sell that car, I'm sure, and
you know, nobody blinking if they put fifty grand on
top of whatever the MSRP. But they don't do that
(01:16:03):
because of their customers, because the people they serve, and
they don't want to be looked at like that when
so many other deals just are all about a dollar.
So that is very highly appreciated and looked up to,
and we're thankful for it. So you know, if you're
fortunate and you could, you know, get your hands on
one of them yr ones, congratulations, take me for a ride.
Speaker 6 (01:16:25):
Even though like, yeah, True came out with this this
flat plane crank v it. I didn't know what that
was and I started thinking about it and they said,
you know, they said, this is like putting a man
on the moon. Is making an engine like this what
it does, and it's an engineer's dream to to really
dive into what this thing is.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
Oh yeah, man, this thing. You ought to hear.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
This thing is seven thousand, five hundred r prs right
thousand our pos to scream and do.
Speaker 7 (01:16:55):
Yeah, yeah, nothing sounds like a flat plane crank card. Yeah,
nothing anybo read to.
Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
But when you just hear him singing at that seventy
five to eight thousand range, dude, it is just wild.
They just sing, man, there's still they got real high notes.
Just thoughts sick.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
It's a I was.
Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
I was at twenty four hours a Daytona, and you
can hear some of those those cars. And man, those
flat plane crank cars. They would come by and it'd
be right there between that seventy five and eight thousand
some maybe all the way up to eighty five on
the red. But man, them cars when they were up there, they.
Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
Just got the sounds so good. It's just wild. This
is sing. I had a GT. Three fifty. There was
a flat plane crank that was the best that was.
Speaker 7 (01:17:35):
It wasn't the fastest car because it made five hundred well,
which is a lot, don't get me wrong. But what
a fun car to listen to and drive and go
through the tunnels right, ripping tunnels. Yeah, yes, the cops
that well, the cops can hear you from a mile away.
Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
You know that happens. So that's so awesome. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Well, I know they're coming in twenty twenty five. I'm
sure there's a big waiting list. But you still can't
get the sting ray. You still can get this six.
And if you're in that market, please do us favor.
Check out the l Way Group LA Chevrolet right up Broadway.
Jeff is your man, Keith is your man. They've got
great team people there. Hey man, just again, we'll tell
you thank you, just love you guys. Sure, I'll tell
(01:18:15):
you man. I can't thank you enough for what impact
you've had on so many of our listeners and people
with cars for Christmas.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
Uh and continue to do so man.
Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
And I'm absolutely blessed by our friendship and this relationship
and I'm so thankful. So again, hats off, my friend.
Thank thanks to Todd and you and your whole team
down there.
Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
All right, you got it.
Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
I'll tell everyone you said, hey, and thank you for
what you do.
Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
Buddy. All right, my friend, we'll talk soon. Take care.
And that is Jeff from the Lay Group. If you
guys need a card, need ride, man, trust me, these
guys always, every one of their dealerships have that mentality. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
They really do go above and beyond with their you know,
their customer base from their calag dealership to their you know,
the Chevrolet dealership.
Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
And everything they have up. No, they got a great
BMW dealership.
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
There's great people, great attitude and again proud to be
a partner with him for sure. The people that on
the receiving their cars for Christmas, they're they're very thankful
to all Right, more than that ZR one in just
a second. What's the next high ride? We asked Doug
about it. He's he's got a crazy cool bill too.
What do you guys know about air cooled engines? And
(01:19:21):
why would somebody want one?
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
All right, more on that in a minute. It's will
it be his garage? Is a seven nine KVP?
Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
I Willy Be's garage?
Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
This is.
Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
You're back in Willy B's garage?
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
Whatever you guys? Would it be his garage? How cool
is that?
Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
So a couple of things. That's ZR one stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Man, Just crazy the world we're living in when it
comes to cars performance. Man, it was not that long
ago that old Doug Pattick was out here banging fingers
and gears in a Chevelle or something and you know,
trying to go fast.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
And it is Mustang. And if you had five hundred
to seven hundred, you were a badass. If you had
seven hundred and eight hundred, you were one of the
top tier dudes. And if you had over eight hundred,
nobody wanted to mess with you, no number.
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Yeah, man, it was. I remember the days when we
were out, we'd be out road racing and I had
eight eighty three and that vet the first rendition of it,
and it was one of the.
Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
Baddest road races.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
You were out in nel Hefe and we were just
rolling e for seventy ninety to buck ninety and you
know some of the baddest cars thousand Horsepowers, King of
the Hill, Manto and at g Fee of those guys,
and dude, just to think how how it's changed from
just I mean, that was not that long ago, you know,
eight years.
Speaker 3 (01:20:42):
Maybe, yeah, eight years ago exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
It's crazy to where we are now. And man, the
manufacturers have stepped up. They're all ripping eight hundred to
one thousand. You know that g GTD Mustang. Let me
tell you, that thing is insane. That thing is going
to be. That's a three hundred thousand dollars car. And
they have they have absolute like full board. They want
(01:21:05):
to build three thousand of them, uh, four thousand of them,
and I swear they have. They're just about to hit
the green light on the mass production. They've wrote out
first three. They're putting them through all the warrant to tests. Now,
my buddy just did one of the first California laps
on it and was testing it. It's look, they they
(01:21:26):
got themselves a contender there. That car is sick six.
Speaker 7 (01:21:29):
You know how you own one, right, you get you
get picked. Oh yeah, a lot of Well no, it's
a video, so you're going to get the lottery you're
going to get you have to do the video and
you have to be Hey, you have these many forward
cars and this, that and the other thing, and and
I think it's awesome because it puts it in the
hand of the enthusiast. Yeah what these cars driven, beaten on, enjoyed, revered.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
Oh and they want, dude, this car. You know, it's funny.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
It's you had the forward logo, but it's all a
multimatic build. Yeah, you know, it's all like the same
guys that are doing the you know one of Austin Martin's,
the you know, F one racing stuff. It's all those guys,
and man, the headaches they've had with that thing.
Speaker 3 (01:22:06):
It's just unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
But Kevin had one crazy fix that was just I'll
tell you off air because he's like it's something that's
a two dollars part that it was a massive, massive
fix and what was going to be just an enormous
red flag and hold up on the build and he
saved them with a two dollars part.
Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Yeah. Man, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
So it's kind of crazy to see, you know, everything's
going on with that and everything that's that's happening in
that world. But at the same time, what a better
time to be a car enthusiast.
Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
And it doesn't really matter what kype, what kind of car.
Speaker 2 (01:22:45):
What type of car you were an enthusiast about, because
you know, some of the great cars are still available.
Some of the wild cool rides that you're passionate about
you still get your hands on. You just apparently acquired
a air cooled Porsche. Now for a lot of people,
they're like air cooled. Yeah, there was a time when
they just use nothing but air to cool the car.
(01:23:09):
Doesn't seem right, but it was a thing. It was
a big thing with Porsche. And you just got one
of these old schoolers.
Speaker 7 (01:23:15):
Oh yeah, we acquired an air cooled shop. At the
beginning of the year, gentlemen was basically retiring.
Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
U was eighty two.
Speaker 7 (01:23:22):
They've had the shop since eighty two, nineteen eighty two,
and had an.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
Opportunity to buy it and put it in our back shop.
And I've always loved air cooled.
Speaker 7 (01:23:31):
I had my very first car was a Bug sixty
two Bug straight up really yeah. I restored it with
my dad and it kind of gave me the air
cooled bug, so to speak, and I'd always want one.
Speaker 3 (01:23:41):
I've owned a couple of water cooled Porsches.
Speaker 7 (01:23:43):
I owned a nine to eleven and an older one
or a newer one, and they're super amazing cars. I mean,
there's nothing Porscha's people could say a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
There are a few cars engineered like a Porsche. I
don't know if it's a Lamborghini, I don't care if
it's Ferrari.
Speaker 7 (01:23:55):
Porsches they've always been just a little bit higher on
the technological side, and that's why they're pulling such big
money for the new ones.
Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
Right's crazy as numbers are pulling. I mean, I can't
believe so Porsche.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
It's funny when you have a stereotype or a perception
of a car, because I never forget my buddy Tony Getty,
who's who's he stole his fake ID or I use
him as a fake ID well when I grew up,
but he would live beside of my dad's place when
my dad upgraded from a trailer park to a golf
course community, a gated community, and Tony Getty had a
(01:24:28):
Porsche nine to twenty eight, his brother had a nine
to forty four, and I had a seventy one Dodge
Charge at the time, so it was funny because we'd
always go in ron errands with him and his Porsche.
It was cool looking on the outside, but it underwhelmed
me as far as how fast it was going. And
again at the time, I had a really fast those
(01:24:49):
seventy one Dodgs charger, so I was like, that thing's
so slow. And I had that perception to Porsche for
the longest time until I met this girl named Sasha
who drove a nasty little Porsche in Colorad Street out
Laws and she was putting down some big fast cars.
Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
I was like, what, So I actually took a ride
for it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
Now, don't get me wrong, I raised her car and
a little in a race one time, and I just obliviated.
But I had a you know, low nine second street
Dodge charger. You know, it gives a Porsche, but for
a little for a Porse. I was blown away how
fast it was, and I was like, good god, I
can't believe how fast that little car is. So after
that I started being much more open to what those
(01:25:30):
things can do. But I still probably have that perception,
like a lot of people, that that engine, the way
is designed, how does it make that much power?
Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
Like, how is that possible?
Speaker 7 (01:25:42):
Well, the aport, you know, they have a post cylinder,
so their box or so instead of a V eight
that light flat.
Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
Yeah, that's up.
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
The architecture doesn't make sense to make big power. To
me anyway, I'm like, wait.
Speaker 7 (01:25:51):
A minute, Well, the older ones don't really make a
ton of power, but the cars don't weigh anything like
my Porsche. I bought a g body and it weighs
twenty four hundred pounds. It's ready to go, so it's nothing, right,
And if I make with the turbo charges, I make
five hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
I mean that's crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:26:07):
And yeah, you know, nobs, no no abs, no traction control,
we die like men, right, you know, I'm just gonna
have a good time with it. But the new cars,
they have them down to the fact that the cylinder
heads are so efficient. So like to give you an idea.
Back in nineteen eighty nine, remember reading this. When Porsche
came out with a new nine to eleven SC their
(01:26:27):
intake manifold was one hundred and four percent volumetric efficient.
That means yes, so where most intakes are like seventy
eighty percent b this is over one hundred percent because
it produced velocity as the intake was run. That's the
stuff that the Germans do that people are like, wait.
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
What what? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:26:43):
Yeah, but there's a you know, there's a growing trend
of the air cooled stuff because what's old is new
and when when when these cars are getting so expensive
for the new ones, it leads you into another path, right,
you know I want this. So there was a poster
car that I grew up with that I mean how
it was me is there's a guyss the street that
had a used car dealership that all I did was portious.
So I'm seven years old and I get to see
(01:27:04):
seventy three Carreras, right, rs Carreras because are million dollar
cars now, right, And he used to drive them and
it was just.
Speaker 3 (01:27:10):
What it was.
Speaker 7 (01:27:11):
And I remember getting to get me ride with him,
and I was just like, dude, someday, you.
Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
Know, some day, I'm gonna I'll do that.
Speaker 7 (01:27:17):
And this this one literally fell into my lap. I mean,
it couldn't be cooler. And it's got big white fenders
on it. It looks kind of kind of a turbo look.
But yeah, but we're gonna do a turbo motor and
do a an air to water intercooler. Nicket for eighty
five is going to build us all this stuff, but
we're gonna do electronic electric air conditioning like in a hybrid,
so it has an actual solenoid, it has a.
Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Like it's crazy to do all this with the air
cooled stuff now, but yeah, it makes sense.
Speaker 7 (01:27:42):
Yeah, Motech, you know, all the good stuff and just
but I'm gonna enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
I'm gonna I'm going to.
Speaker 7 (01:27:46):
Travel the fifth the National Park System wasn't I'm going
to retire. Dude, I'm gonna drive this thing. I'm gonna
go enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
Oh that's such a cool ride and so different. But
you know they sound different. They sound completely different.
Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (01:27:58):
Yeah, they sound like nothing else. And it's funny that Porsche. Interestingly,
did you know Porsche went to Indy. No, in nineteen
seventy seven. They went to Indy and it was turbo
charged and they kept lifting the head gaskets, so in
qualifying they welded the cylinder heads to the block. Yeah,
that was their one end. They ruined can Am. They
turbo charged their motor. They had a flat twelve and
(01:28:20):
they ruined Canam back in the seventies. That's why Canam
went away was because Porsche destroyed them.
Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
Crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
Yeah, so Porscha is making some crazy cars, but expensive
for most people, which opens that that line of lineage
and that pedigree to older pores cars to older platforms,
you know. And what's great is nowadays you can plast
some of this new technology and field management and all
this cool stuff, make some power where it's fun to drive,
and you can bring back to life these older cool lines.
(01:28:49):
It's always our crowd pleaser, always get the heads turned
in and just makes everybody happy when you roll into
the you know.
Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
The parking lot.
Speaker 7 (01:28:56):
Have you ever done the singer rabbit hole? Do you
know what a singer is? No, dude, singer Porsches.
Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
Google it. Spend about three hours on it.
Speaker 7 (01:29:04):
They redesign and rebuild Porsches they're a million dollar cars,
but they're absolutely the fit and finish. I've driven two
of them, and uh, it's sexual.
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
I'm sorry. Driving their car is straight sexual.
Speaker 7 (01:29:17):
And they now have ones that are you know, to
two and a half million bucks. But yeah, the difference
being is is that you know, there's a ton of
these cars sitting in people's garages because Grandpa had one.
You know, it's got a quilt on it in fifteen
you know, yearbooks and a bicycle and stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
We pull stuff out of garages all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:29:35):
We pulled a seventy one out at the beginning of
the year had fifty two thousand miles on it original owner,
the whole nine yards. That car's going for huge money.
But at the same time, there's cars out there that
have two hundred thousand miles you literally we I would
say the average mileage on our cars, you know, higher
mileage cars at least one hundred and fifty two hunred
thousand on the original motor Wow, not rebuilt. Now they're
(01:29:56):
getting tired, they get longer, yeah, but they are. They
are over engineered. They're very precise, they're very unique, but
they're bug motors. I mean, they really, really are. It's
very very similar.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
It's crazy. So they're fun. They're blasting.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
You know, they're going to live a long time, and
especially in this world, in this environment where people are
keen up with the efficiency and you know, after market
parts are there. The supported cast to keep them running
and keep them alive is more robust now has ever
been before. So definitely a cool line of cars to
dive into. And I'll be honest, so they may work
well if you want to line up and you know,
(01:30:30):
maybe throw it around a circle drag tonight. Circle drags
are a blast. I'll be there hosting that stuff from
I don't know. Normally it's around six anywhere between six
and seven US. It goes off. So if you're out
about you want to bring the family out. Here's the
great part about seeing ASCAR, right nw So Speedway. The
entire family can get in, get a seat and get
food and you know, treat to nice people whatever, and
(01:30:53):
you won't spit over one hundred bucks. That's what's great
about seeing us. Always free to park. It is a blast.
So they have a ton of racing. They have everything
from the you know, late models and modified it's all
that fun stuff. But they have the Demo Cross tonight,
which is wild people hanging out on the demo Cross,
Like if people get buck wad and then they have
circle Drags, which I'm hosting, and it is gonna be
(01:31:16):
a riot. If you had not been your circle drags,
definitely come up. You want to get in and race
your car to circle drags. I encourage you to do so.
It's a riot, but you probably need to do that
sooner than later, either column or get online car on
National Speedway.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
I'm sure you.
Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
Get all details there, or maybe just head to the
sign up booth as soon as you get in. But
it's gonna be blast night. I'll see at CNS. Looking
forward to that, Doug. How do people find more about
your poor shop and your bmwsho?
Speaker 7 (01:31:44):
Okay, Paddockimports dot com or Paddock Imports on Instagram And
right now we're building the website for Iceonbuds, but it'll
be iceenbuds dot Com or Iceenbuds at Instagram.
Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
That's cool. Yeah, poors, Huh, it's really cool.
Speaker 7 (01:31:56):
It's they're so fun man, they're and they're so wait
wait just type it's so.
Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
Cool, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
What else has got a wild sense of architecture to
it that is oftentimes overlooked from that era Jaguar.
Speaker 3 (01:32:10):
Without a doubt some of the most beautiful cars.
Speaker 7 (01:32:12):
I want an xjs R with like a small block
Chevy in it because they're so beautiful, unreliable as hell,
it's so cool.
Speaker 2 (01:32:19):
But again, a car that is the styling is just
I got an E type of seventy E type shut up,
yeah yeah, or hard top hardtop V twelve shut up.
Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Yeah. That is cool. Yeah. Man, They're so fun, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
It's such an insanely crazy It's such a departure from
what we were.
Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
Doing in nineteen seventy and nineteen seventy one. It is.
It's just you get underneath the car and you're like,
what what do a break lines in this?
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
And independent rear suspension and just crazy stuff that they
were doing that you know, we're building Novis and you know.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Go in board breaks and stuff. Yeah yeah, dude, yeah,
wold wild what a crazy car.
Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
So yeah, man, there it's always to see different different
car companies of what they were doing in different eras
and just compare them to you know, what we know
is you know, are Big three if you will, well.
Speaker 7 (01:33:09):
Guys, yeah, gone, to the day that you know, a
small car manufacturer making these beatpoke cars that are you know,
just crazy crazy and they're obtainable. Right now, there's crazy
companies that make, you know, a million dollar cars, but
a jagg I mean, I don't know how many they made,
but it could have been a lot, right right, right,
you know, but they're still super bespoken, cool and fun
and you stop traffic and they sound really cool.
Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
Yeah, the dual exhaust on the side crazy all right, man,
